she is very monotonous, boring...
I THINK SHE IS GOOD! BUT BORING... SHE WILL HELP STUDENTS AT ANY MINUTE.
She teaches her material straight out of the book, so paying attention during class is really not necessary. She is willing to help at any time, this is very true, but her classes are a little boring.
She doesn't write notes on the board, thus leaving you guessing on what will be on her test or what to write in general. Her idea of reviewing for a test consisted of telling the class to "study everything".
She is pretty good..I would recommend her...and she is always willing to help! Her notes and lectures are straight from the book.
She is good, very helpful all the time. Everything strait out of the book
She is tough, but very nice.
If you are taking this course b/c you have to, don't take her. She is lovely & will go out of her way to help you. But she'll kill your GPA as her exams are tough. I took her when she 1st started teaching at MSU. She may have gotten better since.
Dr. Adams is a great person. She's very clear in her lecture and is very willing to help. Her exams are a bit difficult, but they're alright. I would take her again.
she is boring
nice person, boring professor.... reads straight from the book... she's helpful if you visit her during office hours, but lectures are definitely painful.
Highly intelligent & demanding teacher. Teaches & expects students to know material from textbook for tests. Tests are hard. Take her only if you are serious about learning, not for an easy grade. Hard to stay awake in class. Boring material
Gives comprehensive notes, very intelligent and clear in lecture. Willing to go out of her way to help you understand concepts. Tests are average, if you study your notes you will do fine.
She's a real nice lady and only tests u on what she taught u. helpful and always friendly aslong as u read b4 class, follow the syllabus, and take good notes and study from HER notes. U'll do fine
good teacher. easy to talk to
She DOES NOT TEACH RIGHT OUT OF THE BOOK! She is a very good teacher, I don't find her tests hard but everyone is different. She gives you a lot of chances excel bc she teaches and only test you on what she TEACHES you (not the book ish). She is only "boring" if you find biology boring.
She's such a nice professor. she really cares about her students and encourages them to do well. She's always willing to help and her lectures are very easy to understand. Definately take her.....
She is easy to understand, answers all questions, and slows down if you need to. The class is easy to follow and she only tests on what she says in class. As long as you know your notes, you will do fine.
Nascent class and it showed. Should run better in the future but time will tell. Probably should first take Micro and Molecular Bio before attempting the class. However, very understanding regarding her students and knowledgable regarding the topic.
Very very nice lady and will help you but i found her to be very difficult.. her tests were on 5 or more chapters at a time alot of info for one test
yes its true she is a very nice lady, but as for teaching she is terrible.she knows her material very well, but as far as teaching it your better off not taking her. Her tests are hard, too many chapters to know for 1 exam.there are some professors that shouldn't be teaching and she is one of them.
Boring class. Tests extremely hard. Must have basal knowledge about the subject first. Dr. Adams is very nice and patient but not the best teacher
nice woman, bad professor. basically read out of the book which I can do at home thank you very much. didn't EXPLAIN anything which made me think she didn't know HOW to. didn't learn a thing sorry to say. she will help you if you ask, but don't expect to get anything from lecture.
tests are easy, ap exam is harder, if u think they are hard you dont deserve to graduate. If you are pre-med and think this class is hard, change your major to sanitation disposal. Classes are boring, take notes, study and you will do well, if u do this and still fail its not the professor its you.
Very good teacher...although tests are a bit hard...but study and you'll succeed
Worst class ever!! her exams are extremely difficult and have 5 to 6 chapters on each. Everything is right out of the book on power point. It is hard to stay awake. Although the class stinks shes a very nice woman.
Professor Adams is a great teacher. People say her testes are hard and they can be, but if u study (review notes after class @ home) u will pass. I had to retake the class but then again I never showed up the first time. Take it in the summer and pay attention. Just work and don't try to take the easy way. Very helpful!
Oh my gosh..I stressed my brain for this class. She only gives 3 exams. I thought I was going to fail this class, but the quizzes (make sure you go over your notes every night and read the book)and asking her one on one questions did alot. Don't wait until it's too late to talk to her. Geniune lady, indeed!
switched major because of her...sorry, was the worst classes I have even taken
Very easy. As long as you read the book you're fine. She's really nice, and will go over something 4 times just so you can understand it.
great prof
Teaches from Powerpoints that basically summerize the book. The tests are hard and cover like 5-6 chapters but it's great if you really want to learn and really not that bad if you study. Read from the book and take the 4th test, it's to your benifit. Thought I would fail but got a B. I recommend if you want to be well prepared for later classes.
Very nice professor that will go out of her way to assist you. The class is hard but its college bio- not supposed to be an easy A. Work hard and study the book and you will be fine. The lab was pointless and the instructor Anwar was terrible.
Took her for Bio I, very nice woman, and a good teacher. Teaches straight from the book, and is usually nice to students (dumb and smart alike). If ur a dumbass who doesnt wanna do sum work or read the book, then dont take her. Shes very fair, and u learn a lot in her class. Highly recommended
Wow..... she goes wayyyyyyy to fast..... nice lady but dam she cannot slow down...... oh yea and don't make ur notes always by the book......no joke straigt from the book....anywho make ur notes more of ur own and individual attuning urself to the students trust me it helps
Took her for Virology - reads almost directly off of Powerpoint slides which makes me feel like I could teach the class.
Teaches straight from the powerpoints and uses the graphs from the textbook. 4 exams do good on first 3 and u don't have to take the fourth unless you want your lowest grade dropped. Exams are hard they are on 5-6 chapters. Attendance is mandatory at lab.
She is very nice and will help you if you neeed extra help however she is one of the hardest professors. All of the questions on her exams are tough, she never curves or gives extra credit. Class avg on evry exam was a 60 or below. Studied extremely hard, went to study groups, nd got a B. Be prepared to work reallyy hard def not an easy A.
absolutely love her. she's very helpful if you have any questions. she'll work with you to figure stuff out. she goes straight from the power points but everything is straight from the book. tests are very straight forward.
Dr Adams is one of a kind. She's a phenomenal professor who genuinely wants all of her students to succeed. She isn't afraid to push the students though, a very tough course, but you'll walk away with a great deal of knowledge. I'd recommend this course to anyone!
Great teacher and knows her stuff whole class given is straight from the book very little notes given if any study book completely and dont slack off or you will fall behind. Her test are somewhat hard but Dr. Adams is a fair grader as well she is more than willing to help her students
I took her this semester, and did well. She has high expectations for her students, and rightfully so. It is college bio and if you are going to take it it can be a lot of material. This is not a class where you can skip and expect an A. If you want to do well, be there and keep up with the material. Fair with grading, but will not give handouts
she was really hard, does not curve at all. expects alot and literally FLIES through the material damn near impossible to keep up. unless you took AP Bio in high school and aced it steer clear of this prof.
She expects sooo much on her exams. She FLIES through the book. Teaches straight off powerpoint. There is no way you can comprehend anything!! On her test, there were questions we barely covered in class. I use to consider Bio my favorite subject, now i want to change my major. Bio department, do something about this terrible prof!!
she's okay...wayyyy too fast, though. Has really high expectations considering its only bio 112. And she can't really teach either. I'm sure she's smart and knows her stuff, but honestly? I haven't learned a SINGLE thing from this class.
A Horrible teacher. She doesn't teach. Everyone i know in that class teaches themselves through the crappy textbook that costs a fortune. A tip of advice is DO NOT but the book!!! I ended up using a bio book from highschool instead. Avoid her if possible, or just use a textbook that makes sence and u should be ok.
She teaches in a way that seems to be a review; as if we already learned the course thoroughly beforehand and now we are just in her class for a refresher or a review. This is not the case!! This is BIO112! We are supposed to be learning basics that will help us in harder courses, not a damn review; this is my 1st college bio class. BAD PROFESSOR!!
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! This professor reads off a powerpoint, goes by the chapter too fast, and tests are hard! She barely teaches; seems more like she is reviewing. I had to learn by myself through reading the textbook. I hated this class. And she is probably the worst professor I had this semester! Avoid if possible!
She's not impossible like most people say, but you have to work your butt off in this class. The worst part about her is that she goes through chapters really fast plus she uses only powerpoint. Definately DONT TAKE her DURING SUMMER because even in fall she goes very quickly. If you do take her, you have to take notes and definately use the book.
She's a really nice professor, very fair. However, her class is really hard. A lot of material on tests. The questions are worded really weird. If you take the final, she drops the lowest test grade.
Tough Professor. Fair, but tests contain LOTS of material, must study alot for class. Teaches off of powerpoint, so should read before going to class. Drops lowest exam grade, flies by chapters. Need to study, read, and work alot to keep up. Gotta work to pass. Not Easy, But not terrible.
She is great!! It's College and of course you are expected to study your tail off. In my opinion she provides a great foundation for later course work...
covered a lot of material but the tests are straight from the lectures. take good notes and study them. she'll also let you know what the open ended ones are in class
Prof Adams is Great! she's very clear and helpful. Tests are from her notes. It is NOT as easy A class, you need to study a lot. Take her if you wanna learn biology.
This professor was the worst. She teaches way to fast and doesnt slow down. This class is like a review. I learned nothing from this class. She doesnt have a good way of teaching. Her tests makes absolutely no sense. She words them in a way that you can not understand. My whole class average was a 48. Avoid her if you can trust me. I know.
Honestly, I was worried going into her class the first day because of all these comments and what my friends had to say about her. But she really isn't bad! Yes, she does go at a quick pace, but that's college. As long as you attend her lectures, take good notes and try to read the book before each class, you'll be fine!
Dr. Adams is the best! this is college, you have to work for your grade.. and you want to be pushed so that you ACTUALLY learn something. Dr. Adams is a sweetheart, she does teach fast but you just have to keep up and pay attention it doesnt give you time to dose off during lecture! I would recommend her virology course to anyone! Adams is the best
I LOVE Dr. Adams. She was one of the craziest/funny professors I've taken so far. Don't even bother bringing your cell phone into class because if it goes off, she'll sniff out who's phone it is and then pounce on you like a lion. Make sure to take notes though because most of her notes appear on the tests. Tests are based on critical thinking.
She's one of the best professors this school can offer. She's dedicated & makes the subject as interesting as she can.Incredibly intelligent! Gives hints in class for exam, which is pretty straight forward.Quizzes: challenging, but they're curved@ end. She has a rep for being tough, but the knowledge gained will guide you through rest of college.
Principles of Bio 1: this prof was horrible. I'm never taking her class again and i shouldve ignored her when i was warned. She teaches really fast but you got to read the chapter before class, otherwise you'll be lost. I got an A in Priniples of Bio 2 and now I got a D in this class. AVOID HER AS MUCH AS YOU CAN IF U WANT A GOOD GRADE.
uses powerpoints made by book company and reads verbatim during lecture. will answer questions and has a nice personality but exams are based entirely off of the book. class is mostly self taught. first half of class consists of basic chemistry. lab is easy, great grade boost. reading the book is the key to doing well. does not curve grades.
She was a good teacher, but her exams were ridiculous. I studied sooo much for her exams and I still didn't do good. The lab class was so much easier and it felt like more was learned. I got an A in the lab class and possibly a D in her class. DON'T TAKE HER!!
Its a lot of material but its straight from the lectures. Tape record or write it down. The people who fail are the ones who dont pay attention or skip class. Its your own fault if you miss any of her open ended questions cause she gives them away before the test. 3/4 exams graded so you can drop one
This professor is really hard. Her exams are ridiculous, everything is worded in her own way and requires you to actually understand the material rather than memorize it from the textbook. If I were you i'd look for a different professor. This is a warning!! Lab was very easy thought, i got an A in it.
Her class is relatively difficult, but she teaches you everything you need to know and is very approachable.
Great teacher, really helpful and willing to answer any questions in class. Available out side of class as well. If you take her class GO TO OFFICE HOURS! The tests are dumb hard. Tests are on up to 7 chapters at a time. Studied for a total 30 hours and went to four study groups in one week and still only got a 75 on one of her tests. Lab is easy!
Very nice personality and willing to help...yet her test are extremely hard. Must read chapters prior to lecture.
She is very nice and helpful. Must read the chapters and understand the concepts memorization will not help you in this class. She expects a lot from her students so if you are not ready to work do not take this class.
She's extremely sweet and very helpful. One of my favorite professors at Montclair State University. She really knows how to teach. Give extra credit and is VERY lenient with grading. I love her :)Everything you need to know is straight out of her notes. I never opened the book.
She goes over the material very hard and heavily. She expects us to know the concepts inside, out , left and right assuming that we are PhD graduates. She goes over 10 chapters a day when she realizes she needs to fill it in in time for the test. Do no take her.
so many people complain about her but she is a great professor. she's challenging and expects you to know the material prior to class. she goes over everything thoroughly and is always more the willing to answer questions.
she's really sweet and helpful. Tests are not at all challenging. Students always complain about her, but its silly. This is college, her tests require thought and you will not be spoon fed the answers. You will learn a lot from her. One of the better Biology professors at MSU
nice prof. knows her stuff.. however for an introductory/summer course - veryyy hard . tough grader. think twice before taking her
Her tests are pretty hard and she is not very helpful if you don't understand something. I don't suggest taking this class or professor in the summer class, because she goes over 2-3 chapters a day and expects you to know everything. Her powerpoints are all from the textbook and none of it is her own knowledge it seems.
Awful professor. I took her for summer Biology. Very harsh grader. Takes chunks and chunks and chunks of information from the book and puts them on slides for you to write down for 3-4 hours while explaining them unclearly. No extra credit. Very harsh grader. Tests are trick questions. Take Kight.
So if you're contemplating taking virology, there are a few considerations you should keep in mind. Do not walk into class without reading the chapters assigned..no notes just read. Pick your paper topic right away and start writing months in advance. Dr. Adams is a talented pedagogue but this class is no joke. Take medical micro before this class.
Very fast pace, will go over every detail page by page directly from the book. She's a very sweet person but her exams are a killer will definitely prepare you for the future.
Dr. Adams is the best biology professor I have had so far at Montclair. She taught straight from the book. She explained basic chemistry in such a clear manner and she made sure that you understood concepts and likes class participation Her exams are challenging but if you follow the book and take good notes, you can do well. Lab exams are easy.
Dr. Adams is probably the best Biology professor I will ever have at MSU. She knows exacy what she's talking about, she's engaging, and you will learn if you put in the work. The class is definitely not easy, but she's extremely helpful. Grade is 60% exams, 15% assignments/quizzes and 25% lab. If you can, take the SEA-PHAGES lab with her!
She is a very tough grader. Not the best idea having this class and a chemistry class in the same semester. Definitely have to study like a week before the exam.
Dr Adams is a cutie. Very sweet lady from Georgia, i love her. Have to put in the work to get a good grade. 3
Professor Adams is the worst professor I have ever taken and i strongly recommend choosing another professor. She teaches directly from the book and reiterates to review class notes for exams but the exams are nothing you've ever seen the entire lectures. the Final exam is chapters 1-19 with no study guide or even hint as to what will be on it.
Dr. Adams is a very nice . She really cares about her students and how they do in her class. Her lectures are based off the textbook, but she tells you all of the details you need to know exactly in the slides. Study the lecture notes and you'll do great! Her SEA Phage lab is fun if LOVE bio; the work you put in is what reflects your grade!
Super difficult professor. She very nice, but her test are crazy hard, in order to even get a passing grade you must read the complete chapter. Quizzes are mega short like 3-5 questions long yet they are difficult and barely help it will most likely bring down your grade. You will have no time to study for other classes if you take this professor.
Dr. Adams is definately one of the more challenging professors I had. She expects a lot from her students, and wants you to learn. At the same time, if you take advantage of how smart she is, you will succeed. Anything she repeats twice is a test question. Her tests are hard, but when I did succeed, I can say I learned a lot.
Dr. Adams is yet another awful biology professor at MSU. She teaches general biology 1 at too high of a level for what it should be taught at. Her exams are brutal: tough multiple choice questions and even tougher 6-8 open ended questions. The lab is easy because a grad student teaches it. You take her class, EXPECT TO WORK YOUR TAIL OFF!!!!
She's such a great person and I really did love taking her class as a freshman biology major. However, her test are extremely hard and kind of unclear. She requires you to truly understand the information because there is so much application on the tests. Overall, rough class but she's such a cute professor. TEXTBOOK used only for studying.
There are 4 majors issues in this class: 1. Tests are tough beyond normal; feels like a graduate course. 2. Unnecessary length of questions and unclear questions in tests. 3. Lectures feel long and VERY boring. 4. Instead of teaching at a slow steady pace to better understand, she teaches at a quick pace to match the timelines of the syllabus
Dr. Adams is the nicest Biology professor one could ever have at MSU! She made me fall in love with Biology. Her lecturing style is the best and makes everything clear and dooable. Her passion for the course drives your passion towards studying. Would love to take her for every course at MSU!
Dr. Adams is horrible. I took her my freshman year (biology major) and I did okay. I asked her if there would be any extra credit or anything to help me out. She said "I suggest you withdraw from the class." she is mean and not helpful. I went to my dorm after class and withdrew from the class. She was the reason I switched my major. DON'T TAKE!
Dr. Adams is one of the toughest professors I've taken so far. She teaches like she expects you to know everything already and her tests are impossible. You have to love bio and put all of your time into it to get a decent grade. She gets very mad when students don't know something she thinks is easy.
Dr. Adam is a very nice lady but her exams are extremely hard. She doesn't do reviews or outlines for any exams, which I feel is a disservice to her students. The lab portion of the class is very poorly taught and hard to understand. She does give homework . The majority of the people were confused and didn't answer any of the questions she asks.
Dr Adams is a nice lady but her exams are EXTREMELY DIFFICULT, when I first started her class I lacked to believe the ratings, believe them. Hard exams, no explanation, no outlines. Highest mean is a 65. She is an extremely tough grader, and takes off points for everything. Application is key in her class. I am a A student and I do not recommend.
She is one if the worst professors that I have ever had so far in my junior year of college. She gives you a test on 6 chapters from the textbook and doesn't give you any hints on what exactly is gonna be on the test. The test is 50 multiple choice and 6 short answer questions. There is no way to prepare for her exams, find another professor.
She is a professor who wants to see you work your hardest. If you take her class be prepared to work very hard, she will make you a better student. It was too difficult for me because i started off very poorly I was afraid i would fail the course so i decided it was better for my GPA to just drop the course.
A student until i came in contact with adams, Tests are ridiculous and she gives no clear understanding of what is on them. be prepared to not be confused in lecture because she gets angry at questions even had her say "that was covered in last lecture not answering that" do not recommend find someone else
Dr. Adams is one of the best professors. Don't get me wrong she is super difficult, however she cares about her students and that is what makes it worthwhile. It helps recording her lectures & listening back to them later because you are able to catch hints for what will be on the exams. Overall, I would recommend her to anyone that wants to learn.
If you want a good grade, do not take this professor. Her exams are so hard and she is tough at grading.
Took her class some time ago (non-bio major). One should only take this class if you have a HIGH level knowledge of advanced biology/bio concepts. Lectures and textbook do not prepare you for exams which deal with 100% concepts, as she only gives you facts of biology but not situations (which appear on exams). A lot of self learning is required.
Very sweet person. Lectures are really fast pace and lab is very easy. 4 exams and the lowest exam gets dropped. Exams are really hard and challenging, show up to every lecture, understand everything from the textbook, and still will not get an A. HW count for alot and are sometimes hard. Not a good choice if you're not a Biology major.
If youre the type of person that has the self-discipline to start studying for tests more than week before, you'll do fine in her class. If you study only the night before you wont pass. Her tests are hard, but not impossible. You should only take her if you're a biology major because you will finish the semester really knowing the material
Amazing teacher who really cares for her students and wants you to do well. Even though attendance for lecture is optional, unlike lab, don't miss them because she tells you what is on the exams. As long as you study each chapter after it is taught, do all your lab work, and get good grades on the homework you will get over a B in this class!
Her lectures are so long and boring to the point it makes me sleepy in class. I do fall asleep in the lecture by mistake. She covers 3-5 chapters in one lecture; thus, this class is very fast paced. The lab is okay because you work and socialize with your lab partners but doing lab work is confusing because her instructions are complex.
Shes great at making the students understand her lectures. But no matter how hard you study and understand the concepts, the exams will throw you off. Theyre situation questions, so if youre not familiar with biology theyll throw you way off. Her lab is easy. But I wouldnt take it again. A lot of the student failed her class.
Literally take any other professor. She thinks everyone is a biologist. Lab has nothing to do with lecture. Overall, would not wish this class on my worst enemy.
Overall nice person but does not teach. You need to teach yourself everything. Tests are soo hard. she will tell you not to worry about something then put it on the test. Lab is easy but you need to try. No point in going to lectures because she just reads off of the powerpoint. Took HW away and gave quizzes bc someone copied the HW. We all SUFFER.
Agree with all the reviews EXTREMELY difficult, her class feels like a graduate course but its just bio 1 .Exams are unreal to pass the average of the class is very low - 60. There are 4 exams in total and each exam covers 6 chapters and she does not do a review before them. I'm an A student and because of her ending up putting my gap lower.
She is very difficult, but a very kind hearted person. Biology is a difficult course no matter what, and you'll need to put the time into it. She helps you learn and think of things in real life terms. She is one of the best professors, she may be hard, but it is totally worth taking her, because you will learn!!! Attend all the labs!!
Dr. Adams is such a great professor. Don't get me wrong she is tough but you really learn a lot from her. She really wants her students to learn and you have to put the work into do well. If you do ever find your self struggling she is always willing to help you outside the classroom. I would highly recommend her as a professor!
This class is not easy, but it also isn't too hard if you study. She wants you to understand every mechanism and process. Tests were a bit tricky, but for the most part straightforward. TIPS: create a study guide, record lecture, read the book, study lecture slides. If she repeats something a couple times, it's going be on the exam. Lab is okay.
Extremely hard class. I studied weeks in advance and still was barely passing the exams. The average grade per exam roughly around a 65. Reading what everyone else had to say I thought I would perform well in this class but I was wrong. My best advise if you take this class is record the lectures, READ the chapters and take separate notes.
She just doesnt understand hardships of taking quizzes online bruh. I had a quiz for which I had the website issues and my timer was on and running. And by the time I was on the first Q, I had 5 mins remaining. I barely finished and emailed her. And she said she wont give me another chance. BUT ITS NOT MY FAULT THE BROWSER WASNT WORKING. GPA DEAD
So so so so so inconsiderate. Very bad with everything. Teaches fine, but quizzes are OUT OF THIS WORLD. And is a seriously tough grader. Id NEVER suggest you to take her course. I studied day and night and still did bad. Idk what she expects from me
Pretty bad with online learning. Shes the reason Im not learning anything in this class. Im so fed up and shes not helping at all. Worst class ever. Would never suggest you to take it.
Very hard class. Now with COVID we have to take quizzes online and she is HARSH at grading them. If you look away from your screen for one second she will give you a 0. I thought that looking at the past reviews I would be okay, but this is not the case. Shes very inconsiderate and its either her way or no way. Labs are okay though.
If you are a science major or just end up having to take this class, I would not recommend this professor. She can be a little rude sometimes. She goes very very fast with lectures and expects you to know all the chapter she went over for a quiz in the next two days.
Goes through the lectures very fast and is very harsh with grading material. She does not do review sessions before exams. Her tests are brutal and the mean of each exam is around 60-70 max. Labs are okay if taught by a grad student, but overall she does not care if she is failing you. (I am an A student and I got a low grade in her class)
Shes a tough grader for sure. If youre doing the SEA-PHAGES lab with her, you need to make sure youre on top of the game because the lab manual is difficult to understand, and Dr Adams isnt the best at clarifying things. When it comes to her short answer questions on quizzes, DO NOT bs thru it b/c she is very answer specific.
Professor Adams is a really nice professor. She is a tough grader with open-ended questions on quizzes/exams. If it is optional to go to lecture instead of online, I highly recommend it because it does help, and she answers your questions clearly in person. The SEA-PHAGES lab was very easy just repitive.
Professor Adams labs and lectures were often disorganized on her part and unclear, during labs especially. Shes a very tough grader and it was a bit excessive at times. You wont get much out of her class, most people were lost and had failing grades. She obviously cares about students, but her teaching style is outdated.
Her exams were harder than my 400+ level courses' exams; I honestly thought it was unrealistic to expect students to understand bio 1 to this extent. I'm guessing because most students here were aiming to go to med schools and she wanted them to be prepared; still, unnecessary in my opinion. Her exams and quizzes were way too hard for this course.
Her exams are nearly impossible She has an optional 4th exam because she knows that most people will fail her first exam. The median for the first exam was 51.5. Her lecture is super fast-paced. Her SEA-PHAGEs labs are extremely confusing. DO NOT RECOMMEND IT. I considering dropping her class.
Dr. Adams. Nice thought it was COMPLETELY unfair how students (including myself) had gone to recitations ,office hours, attended just about EVERY lecture (missed maybe a good 2) and still failed by less than 5 points. If you see students trying , at least help them out. do not take her if you're not willing to dedicate your whole life to this class
lectures go fast & there's so much information that she requires u to understand in depth but she only reads word for word of the textbook w/o actually teaching & expects u to get it urself. doesn't clarify tasks in lab, gets angry when u ask anything. pretends to care. had to be circled by 20+ students to give extra credit. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
Three exams total and they're worth 60% of your grade. Each consists of 6-7 chapters worth of information that you need to understand. She expects you to know the "why" of the content so if you just memorize info from the textbook, you're failing. Quizzes are 5-6 difficult questions, open-ended, with 10 mins to complete. Stressful. Dont recommend.
Lots of information during lectures that is hard to retain. Not sure how to study for tests and quizzes as no matter how hard I studied, I consistently received failing grades. The lab was easy to follow, but only worth 25% of your overall grade. It would help to have study guides or reviews to better understand the topics learned.
Her class definitely required me to try harder than usual but it was worth it. If you show her that you care, she will definitely help you out. Sometimes you just have to go that extra mile. I did learn a lot from her lectures so would take her again!
Dr. Adams is very nice. If you attend lectures, and study the textbook as well, you'll do fine.I would not take her for the SEA-PHAGES lab. She would sometimes get annoyed if people in lab made mistakes, or if they asked a question for clarification.
I had Dr. Adams for virology, the information was overwhelming, and the test were hard. She tried to guide us on what to study for the test, but they were still difficult because there were a lot of open-ended questions. If you study ALOT you'll do fine, she does curve for the undergrads in this class.
Terrible. If she is the last professor available, wait until next semester. DO NOT TAKE HER!!!!!
She gets upset when you ask questions for lab. She answers your questions with labs with a question. Overall do not take here, it is 6 chapters per exam, quizzes are difficult open ended questions, lab quizzes are also difficult, you have to use lockdwon web browser for the lab quizzes. I recommend choosing another Biology professor for BIOl 112.
