Ok looking, that's about it..
best looking and best teaching ive ever had
Best three math classes ever. Sandy is the bomb. You get what you give!
Very hot teacher, but also very good. Best Math teacher I have ever had.
great teacher who happens to be very attractive. always clear and prepared during lecture and helpful during office hours.
Sandy is a great teacher. She is clear and knows her subject well. If you have to take first semester Calc at Mesa, take her! And she is a pretty attractive woman as well.
If u r a ESL student, it's better to take hers because of extremely clear lature and friendly attitude.
Its worth it to take the class just to see stare at her. Oh yeah, you learn math too
a very friendly, helpful and beautiful teacher. EASY short quized frequently that to refresh the meterials that you've learnt in the class.

she is an ok teacher but she only goes from the book. If you can read the book you really do not need her. She is nice to look at.
Seems to be under the assumption you already know what is going on, if that was the case you would not need her to teach you. Average as far as teaching goes

Very average teacher (unfortunately she is also the best math professor I've had here at Mesa). She explains things pretty well but she doesn't care about her students at all. It's easy to get on her bad side. She also seems pretty stuck up. B
Overall, she was a pretty good teacher. But she does not seem to care much for her students. She often seems to have "more important" things to do ... when it comes to grading tests/quizzes and stuff.
I like her.

she's the best of all math teachers.im real bad @ math but w/ her i do alright. i don't get A's but thats b/c of my brain-not her. people on here talkin crap b/c they expect to be spoonfed. hello! this is college math n she's not your mom! do your part!
Great Prof.! Never had a problem with her! She always answered my questions and always had time for me. I didn't think I was going to pass her Calculous class, but because of her help I passed with flying colors!

I wish she was my math teacher before i took calc in h.s. she has a unique way of explaining things that really makes sense. The quiz every week is tough but she drops 2 of the lowest quizes and 1 test score. Overall best math teacher i have ever had.
Sandi is a great teacher. If you do the homework, there is no reason that you can't get an A in the class. Very reasonable, although she doesn't have a lot of time outside of class. Go to class and take good notes (her lectures are great).
She is very good and clear at explaining problems in class. Nomally, you do not need to read book again. She also very helpful after class. I love the way she teach. A lot of quiz and texts, but good class.
I must admit math isn't my subject, but lack of help outside the classroom sucks. She favors guys more and she seems to be too dependant on her graders, so you really dont know when you'll get your quizzes/tests. She can have her days.
Having Sandy in 96 and 116, her teaching style is great. She requires homework, has frequent quizes, and exams reinforce learning. I left both classes learning alot of information. Excellent teacher that really cares about her students learning.

The best math teacher I've ever had! She's sweet and caring and sooo easy to understand. Do your work and ask question if needed, and you'll do fine. I actually walked away from this class *liking* math. Thank you :)
Not only is she a pretty face, but she really knows her stuff. Really hard on people that make arithmetic/algebraic mistakes. Tests can be really difficult. I got an A so it can be done, but be prepared. Good class to prepare you for further math.
Sandy is definitely the best math teacher at mesa!

One of the best math teachers I've ever had.Explains things very well, made the class a lot easier. Definitly recommend her to anyone.
Made learning algebra a lot easier than I thought it would be. A great teacher!

WoW, Best Math Teacher at Mesa, she is very helpful, answer lots of questions and is very caring towards students, shes a fair grader and you'll only get an A if you work hard for it.
explains things pretty well. super nice teacher. also way hot.
Love her! She's a great teacher. I felt that she made Buis Calculas fun and easy to understand. I wish I had her for my previous math classes. Do homework even if she doesn't collect. It will help you understand the course.
One of the best math teachers at Mesa! The course is hard, but she makes it very easy! She had this way of teaching that really makes you understand math! I would highly recommed her!
She is a clear and good teacher as well as pleasant to look at.
"good" teacher
She is the best math teacher at Mesa. She is very clear and cares a lot about the students. Of course, she is a hotty ;) But aside her looks, she is really good and I'm going to take my linear algebra with her.So sad that she doesn't teach cal 3.
She is one of the best math teachers at mesa college.
The best math teacher of all time. She teaches math in a way students who are or not majoring in math can understand it.
The best teacher at Mesa
She's HoTTTT! she makes a 2 and a half hour class fly by like nothing! I hate math... and I understand everything when she explains it. She is very thorough and explains everything with clarity... and did I say she's HOT!
She needs to be more concerned with the class rather than TRYING to look cute. Exceptional math teacher? I think not. I have failed from math teachers that were better than her. She is just average!
the best math teacher i have ever had. she is great she is always on schedule and explains things very well. i would take her every semester if i could
She is HOT. Ms. Belew also kmows how to teach she explains the material very will and if you have a ? she will help you. I had her for 2 classes and it was great. did i mention that she is a HOTTTIE. I miss her.
u better hope the final is not hard, cause is u have an "A" on the class, u MUST PASS the final with a C, if not the "A" u had all semester means nothing
The Final is 30% of your grade. But let's assume you have a 90% average going into Finals Week. Then you only need 23% to pass the class, right? Wrong. If you don't get a "C" on the Final you will not pass the class. No matter what your grade was before the final. This teacher skips class more than her students. Very disorganized.
Simply a horrid teacher. Very, very disorganized. She does not have the solutions manuals for the textbook and does not care how the textbook or solutions manual solves problems. Do them her way or lose all credit, even if you get the right answer. She skips class more than a Second Semester Senior. I will never take her again!
She's not as bad as everyone says. Her ways to solve problems are easier than that of textbooks. Simply show up every day and all notes possible and study them. HW does not count for any credit, that was my complaint. Gives EC opportunities and is very hot. How could I not show up every day? Seriously, shes a very good teacher. Take her
I thought she was a good teacher in that she explained things very clearly. She lets you drop your lowest two quiz grades and your lowest test grade. Do the homework and pay attention and you should do well in this class. Has a tendency to be catty though & I thought she treated some students like they were stupid when they'd ask questions.
She is really good. I have a hard time with math so if she could teach me she can teach anybody, you just have to be willing to do the hw and have math four days a week (its a really good thing believe me no matter how much it did suck with the big textbook)
She's pretty cool. Just pay attention in class and write down EVERYTHING she writes down on the board! Don't daydream! If you understand her examples then you're good to go on the tests! Doesnt collect homework often. She also drops the 2 lowest quiz scores and the lowest test score! But if you flunk the final you flunk the class!!!
Very nice and keeps you alert, but seems to get annoyed when students ask question. She keeps saying that you should know this... Some of us haven't taken algebra for like 4 years.
Professor Belew is one of the outstanding Mathematics instructors at San Diego Mesa College. Her no-nonsense approach is not for everybody--but after all--this is college and Prof. Belew maintains high standards and expects students to WORK at improving their mathematic's skills. It's like the old saying: No Pain. No Gain! Belew makes learning fun!
Great professor. Yes, she can be hard, but ask for help and pay attention. She is a no nonsense teacher. She actually treats you like your a *gasp* college student. And coming from a girl....SHE'S HOT.

She is very thorough in her examples. Nice. Quiz every week, Exam about ever 3 weeks. Gives partial credit, but still takes a lot of points off. If you understand pre-cal and trig, with her as a teacher you will do fine.

as excellent a teacher as she is beautiful
Ms. Belew saved my life. Amazing comunicator! I was about to give up on getting anywhere in my education when I found her. I now have an awesome carreer (I will clear 6 figures this year) I'm convinced I wouldn't have made it without her. If you are a math dummy sign up for her class
I'm a girl, and I think she's pretty hot for someone her age. She dresses cute too. It's a pretty hard class and she teaches pretty fast but it's not so bad. You get to drop one test and two quizzes. She doesn't collect hw but it's helpful to do. Only downfall is that there are quizzes every week.

I learn a lot from her. She gives review and most of the quizzes and some test are takehome. The only bad thing about her, is her Final. no matter what grade you have, YOU MUST PASS HER FINAL. IF you get a D on the final, that will be your final grade. shes really cool and sweet professor.

Take her she is a good professor!!!
Basically, what you heard about her is true. Her class is quite challenging, however if you attend class and take notes + study then you should be fine.
Sandy is a rare gem of a professor. All her lectures were very well prepared, and she did a great job of pointing out which concepts were especially important to remember/understand well for Calculus. She understands and is able to explain math concepts clearly. If you're interested in higher level math concepts, talk to her during office hours.
She lectures extremely fast. You have to stay caught up in the class or you'll fall behind and it will make lectures confusing. Come into the class prepared and into the subject ready to learn algebra without any slacking and you'll do O.K.
Great teacher. I took her for Math 96 and she made the quizes and exams fairly easy. I liked that you didn't have to turn in the homework ever but there was a quiz every day. She knows her stuff and teaches at an average pace.
She made the information very easy to understand. Just study the examples she does in class and you will do fine. I didn't do any of the hw and got a B in her class.

she's the best professor. never take ur attendance. never collect homework. easy quizzes. straighforward to basic formulas in each chapter. 1 quizz/chapter/week. she drops a couple of lowest quizzes, drops 1 lowest exam. i never did homework and i got an A
office hours are suppose to be for extra help not for the teacher to say "didnt we already go over this in class?" and give you attitude the remainder of the time you are there. The book she used was useless and her exam/quiz problems were 10x harder than what was done in the homework.
Lectures are mandatory, or you will fall behind. All homework, quizzes, and tests are based on her lecture notes. If you HAVE to miss class get a copy from someone else (even if you have to pay them) and treasure the notes. Go to as many office hours as you can make and do all of the homework. Network with other students in the class.
She is the best Math teacher I ever had. No compromises, tough and helpful. If you want to learn she is the one.
A VERY SWEET LADY. SHE'S EXTREMELY HELPFUL AND SHE DOES PROBLEMS STEP BY STEP SO ITS VERY EASY TO UNDERSTAND. I DEFINITLEY RECOMMEND HER
One of the best math teachers I've ever had. Very pin-point in her teaching so there is not much confusion. Homework isn't graded but it will help you a great deal if you actually do it. Very simple of method of Quizzes every Thursday, and usually after 2 quizzes, the chapter test. Highly recommend.
She is the best MAth teacher that I ever had.my husband had her class in fall,And I found her style,I had this class with another guy in miramar college and got D at least, but here I'm just learning and learning and getting B+. she is the best.go for getting this class even if crash it.
Really good teacher who goes out of her way to help you. One of the better math teachers I have had. Going to class isn't a a waste of time. Take her class if you want to actually learn the math without having to study a lot outside of class.
Awesome teaching method. If I ever become a professor I will definitely use her method. Weekly quizzes to monitor understanding and motivate study which prepares for the exams. Drops some to buffer the bad days. I'm now very familiar with the material and was surprised at how easy she made this. Gives great lectures. I'd give her an A+.
My only gripe is with her tests. She usually gives around 7 or so questions, so if you miss one you probably won't get an A. No other complaints.
Amazingly fair teacher.Tells you exactly what she expects and gives you the tools to do so.She doesn't take attendance but she'll notice if you're slacking off.Unlike every introvert math teacher I've had there's nothing eccentric about her she is very clear and understandable. It seemed like the females in class were intimidated by her appearance.
Outstanding teaching technique! Ensures you grasp the knowledge to succeed in the class. Almost daily quizzes and always weekly exams (summer session). Gives extra credit. She is much better than my Math 95 instructor! Take her if you want to learn! Plus, she is not bad on the eyes either!
She teaches very well, her notes are straight forward and i learned everything quickly by taking notes and practicing. her tests are straight forward. if u ask a question shell get pretty annoyed but who cares. the tests and quizes are simple.
Great instructor. She explains math in very simple terms. You can get an A in this class without doing the homework - just study her lecture notes. Lots of quizzes, but she drops your 3 lowest scores. She also drops your lowest test score.
If you don't like math or it's been forever since you did math...Sandy is the one. She makes math simple! She even has patience for the class idiots even though she knows how to put them in their place!
She is the greatest math teacher of all time! I had to drop out of 3 other trig classes before I took hers. I am so glad that I was able to take her class. If you can get into her class you absolutely should! You totally have to study though. She is a no bull kinda girl and wants her students to learn.
Challenging class, learned a lot. Homework harder than book, so tests were fair. Rude in class, unhelpful in office hours. Very, very late returning work; graded inaccurately. Her attire unprofessional, very distracting. One student had confidential medical information which she revealed out loud in front of the class. He did not look happy.
Belew is totally awful. She posted the wrong syllabus (it took repeated prompting to get her to fix it), responded to questions poorly and late, and didn't tell the class that the final was optional until we had already arrived. Really annoying.
essay to understand
WORST PROFESSOR AT MESA COLLEGE! NOT HELPFUL AT ALL AND DOES NOT GRADE ACCORDING TO HER SYLLABUS. DO NOT TAKE HER. YOU WILL REGRET IT!
her class is boring and i did not learn anything. i should have taken parvini this semester. dude biggest mistake this semester was taking her.
Unfair grading. Very disappointed...I should have taken a different professor because taking it with her was a waste of time.
She doesnt even teach the clas. You have to buy a program called ALEKS and it teaches you. Super lazy. Don't follow her own sylabus because she makes mistakes. THE WORST TEACHER EVER!!!
I took a Trig refresher online course from her. She did not respond to emails, her office hours are not listed, I did not realize I didn't have to take the final until I went there, she never told me my grade, I completed 90% of ALEKS coursework and she did not give me credit for the class. Very unhelpful.
AWESOME!explains everything very well she does it step by step so you understand she has office hours for you to go to and she is very understanding and is there for you to ask her questions. she drops the lowest quiz & lowest test. if you do the hw & go to class youll do fine. shes very good at explaning the concepts and making it so u understand.
I had high expectations for this teacher but sadly I was wrong. She is unorganized and useless. I should have taken another teacher.
Very easy to understand, her teaching is very good, the class is hard though.
Homework is "optional" However don't expect to pass the class if you do not do EVERY assignment. Expect a quiz or test every other class. This will be one of the hardest math teachers you will ever have. If you are average in math than this is not the teacher for you, but if you plan to become a rocket scientist than you might stand a chance.
Professor Belew is an extremely helpful teacher. She explained everything easily and I enjoyed her class so much I plan on taking her for Calculus as well. She does mark off on little mistakes on quizzes and tests but that is understandable. She is a very good teacher.
I agree with the last response! Take Mrs. Belew if you want to learn the material. If you just want an easy teacher take someone else. She explains things so clearly that if you try you can do the work! Really the best teacher I have had at Mesa.
Sandy Belew is an outstanding teacher! It is difficult to find any fault with her. Very smart; does an excellent job of simplifying concepts. A very friendly person who really seems to care about teaching the students.Seemed to adjust level of rigor to suit class. I would highly recommend her!
Professor Belew is an extremely good teacher. She goes in depth into the subject and makes all the material easy to learn. Sometimes it can be hard but it helps you learn the subject. Overall she is a really good teacher and if you want to learn Math take her.
I would recommend her, just don't be a slacker in her class! If you're willing to do the work and participate, then she's willing to help you with whatever you need.
Ms Belew is an excellent teacher. The class is difficult because you are always learning new concepts but her teaching methods are excellent. I highly recommend going to her office for some one on one. If I didnt understand something in class she would help me in her office. She is very smart and helpful.
she's a good teacher, quiz every thursday, and every two weeks is a test. do the homework and you should pass, answer hw ?= extra credit. a couple take home quizzes, tells u what types of problem will be on the test. but study! & she's easy on the eye too.
Mrs. Belew is the best math teacher I have had. She really cares about her students' learning the material. She had extra reviews outside of class when we were having difficulty with some material. She even had extra reviews for the final when she was sick. If you want to learn the material take her.
great teacher, very clear, makes learning math very easy, wish there were more teachers like her...
I am not good at Math. I don't like Math. Professor Belew helped me to understand things I have never understood before. She tought me in a way that made math make sense. It was like understanding a foreign language for the first time. Go to class. Show respect. Do your homework. She's a great teacher.
The best math teacher I have ever had so clear and understanding. She teaches in a way that makes math seem relatively easy. I love the take home quizes which actually help boost up ur grade. It is very easy to pay attention to her class if you know what I mean
Professor Belew honestly made me love math after 28 years of hating it. Wonderful, caring, helpful teacher. Very structured so you always know what to expect. I am finishing up 096 now and cannot wait to take her for 116 next semester. Come to class, do your homework, ask her if you need help. One of Mesa's best!
Love her she is such a good teacher and she is so helpful as well!!! SO happy she is teaching calc 3 !
Hands down best math teacher. If you go to mesa you must take her!
Best math teacher ever definitely take her if you can she will go the extra mile to help you out and her lectures are clear and she breaks things down to make them very simple
It's been 6 years since I took Calc 1 online, so the beginning of the class was rough, but all I had to do was go to her office hours and she was VERY helpful walking me through the parts I didn't understand and gave me pointers of the stuff I'd forgotten in the last 6 years. She is patient and easy to approach. KEEP UP W/ YOUR HOMEWORK!!
Amazing teacher!!!!
I'm not a math person, and I hadn't studied Math for 5years. I was worried at first, but I'm doing well in this class. we have 9 quizes 15%, 4 exams 60% and 2 finals 25%. the one of exam you can drop. You have to study hard if you don't like math, and if you have any questions, she will explain until you understand. take her class!
The professor didnt answer any of my questions in class, her answer would always be that i did my math wrong and wouldnt help me to figure out what I did wrong. I would email her all the time and never get a reply. Doesnt care about her students when they need help
She is awesome! By far one of the best math instructors I have ever had. She makes the content so easy to grasp.
she was very good at teaching u and didnt add a bunch of extra crap to confuse u. i found her class very easy and to the point
Wonderful teacher, she teaches a bit fast, but there's a LOT to cover in the classes. Take home quizzes weekly. KEEP UP W/ HOMEWORK and you should do well. Final was half take-home half in class. partial to full exemption on final depending on your exam average. Need help? visit her during office hours. Friendly and approachable (easy on eyes too!)
Helpful during class, but doesn't do much between classes. Doesn't hand out Answer Keys to tests or quizzes; you can't learn from your mistakes! Basically no homework. Fair grader.
Best teacher I have had at Mesa so far!! She is an amazing teacher, she really knows what she's doing! You have to attend class and do the homework to get an A. This is the type of class you want to go to because you know if you don't you will be lost. This class kept me going to school. Take this class if you want to learn math the right way!
Attendance is not required; however, she teaches methods differently than the book and then tests based on those methods. So attendance and rigorous note-taking is recommended. Take-home quizzes are great if you have a group to "cheat" off of, but if you work alone, you have a lot of work ahead (like myself). Attend. Do homework. You'll be fine.
I was worried about my math, but Sandy is a wonderful math teacher ever! I got A, because I studied hard. Her lecture is good, and if you have questions, she explains until you get. 9 Quiz, 4exams and 2 lower quiz and the 1 lowest score can drop. If you understand her lecture, you will be fine on the all tests.
Sandy is an awesome teacher! I never made good grades in math until her class. She makes everything so easy to understand and gives a "warm-up" for each exam that really helps. I haven't done homework since the beginning 2 weeks of the semester. Does take home quizzes that help a lot. Pay attention in class and you will do well.
This teacher knows her math and what she is doing. The only thing is that her Tests and Exams are completely different than what she lectures about. Take her yourself, you'll see. Taking notes or doing the homework doesn't matter. She tries to be too hard on the students
Tests didn't reflect class coverage. Teacher talks above your head, assumes everyones a math major. Does grade her own work, doesn't explain homework, and non flexible with grades. Hardest A ever.
very helpful and clear!!!
She was helpful if you needed clarification and she gives tons of examples in class. Her tests are hard, but if you have learned the math then they should be no problem. She also has her own website with lots of helpful resources for quizzes and exams. Grade is based on quizzes and exams only.
She is a miracle!
Very helpful and clear in lectures. Answered questions and emphasized on helping the student understand the concept. Quizzes and tests were very similar to lecture notes. One of the best math teachers I have taken. She definitely knows her math!
Took her for Differential Equations. By far the most difficult math class offered, but she knows how to make the material clear. She did NOT make it easy, but was never unreasonable. Exams were appropriate though difficult. She's very approachable and clear on what's expected. If you want to GET Diff Equ, take her. Well worth it, great teacher.
Great teacher, damanding, expects a lot out of her students but will be there with you every step of the way that you need help.
great teacher and super helpful
This was the best math professor I've ever had!!!!! A) shes very helpful and clear about her materials B) The class goes fast and we covered more materials than many other courses C) She let you do makeup exams and she has your best interest D) shes HOT!!! which makes math a lot more enjoyable..If you take her you will love math
Best math teacher at Mesa, she explains everything so well and answered all questions that were asked
She's a very good teacher. She explains the material really well. She doesn't collect homework but there are quizzes every class. I enjoyed her teaching style so much that I'm taking her for 96 this semester. Definitely recommend taking her class.
Sandy makes math interesting and very easy to understand. She is funny and a great teacher who cares about each student.
she is a great math instructor! I hope she teaches the calculus series I would love to take every math class with her!
I'M NOT A FAN OF MATH! I came into this class worried that I might not make it out this semester(must have at least a 65% on final to pass), but Mrs. Belew was helpful the whole way, offering study sessions almost every friday. I never did homework, just studied the warm ups which were really the test with different numbers. Did fine on the final
I have had her for my math classes several times. She is absolutely amazing. She explains everything clearly, will be patient and helpful during her office hours, and forces you to practice consistently by giving quizzes often. I have never had a better math teacher and I have been taking math classes for a while.
I loved belew I had her for 46 and retook 96 with her because I failed with another a teacher. she made it easy to understand and I would love to take every class with her if Icould but her classes fill up pretty fast.
Awesome professor with a great attitude. She is very easy to understand and takes the time to ensure her students comprehend the material. She is the bomb!!!
She's super cool about everything. She teaches you her way, but she breaks it down barney style. no curve, but if she feels like the class bombed the exam she gives a redo exam. plenty of take home quizzes to boost your grade.
Sandy is the BEST math teacher at Mesa. She takes time to explain the material and make sure everyone is on the same page. Tons of take home quizzes to get your grade up. She often puts on workshops to answer questions/review for exams. Show up, take notes, do homework, you've got an A.
She is really good at making sure you understand the material she covers in class. Her test and quizes reflect the moaterial she covers in class. Probably the best math professor to teach Trigonometry. She is very reasonable when comes to time to prepare for the test and quizes.
She teaches trigonometry in a very clear and helpful way. I am not a math person and usually get lower than an A on a test but in Sandy Belew 's class i was able to really well due to her good teaching. She is also very reasonable about quizes and tests as she give the whole class ample time to be ready for them. Probably the best math teacher
The class seemed pretty clear for the two days that I was enrolled but I dropped because it was setting me up for failure. If you do not test well in math, STAY AWAY. If you pass all the tests and quizzes do all the homework and everything but fail the final, you automatically fail the class.
She is the best math teacher I could of asked for. It has been close to ten years since I had taken a math class and I was still able to easily understand the material, she explains everything very well. Test and quizzes are pretty short, quizzes are normally about 4 problems. She mainly wants to see that you understand how to do the math.
good teacher. presents material clearly. no complaints.
Best math teacher I've had at Mesa by far. There is HW daily and quizzes weekly (often take-home!) but they're to your advantage. If you attend class and take notes, nothing on the tests will come as a surprise. Definitely taking her class again for Calc 2!
Unless you have a clear grasp on Elementary Algebra this class may be tough, lots of homework, weekly quiz's--Daily during the summer. She hurries a bit and doenst take time to organize the notes she is putting on the board leaving you with a mess of cluttered notes and doesnt put the formulas you need up as you learn them. Final was 39 questions
Do you hate math? Well Prof. Belew is an amazing professor! She cares about her students and takes pride in making it explainable to us nonmath types. She gives homework, but all quiz and test questions come from the homework. If you put in the work, you will pass. Taking her again for Math 96 for Fall semester. Take her class! You won't regret it!
Sandy great Math professor. She the fundamentals of algebra at a level the entire class could understand. Sandy takes her time at the board, not speed writing like some teachers. The reason I felt lost, I took the 8 week summer class. Thanks to Sandy and the tutor, got a "B". Would definitely take Sandy again, she cares + very approachable.
professor Belew is an exceptional math teacher. clear and to the point, but sometimes a bit to quick at lectures, but she is a teacher i would spread the word about. I enjoy her class. i learn alot, but need more tutoring.
Belew is a fairly dry, clear cut, old fashioned professor. Lots of homework and decent tests. Long lectures with no breaks and very easy to get bored.
Sandy was a great teacher. Either I write too slow or she erases too fast. That is the only complaint I can think of. Other than that, her tests are pretty much the exact same questions as the quizzes she posts and homework. She's very helpful during office hours. I'd take her again.
Easy class and a great professor. The only problem is that she assigns a lot of homework so be aware of that. Also she gives out a maximum of 2 quizzes a week so be prepared for that. Overall she is a great teacher and I would take her again.
It has been a while since taking a math course so I was bit concerned about taking trig without a refresher course. Professor Belew is by far one of the best math professors I have had. I was able to understand the material both because of her clear lectures and consistent homework/studying. She made math enjoyable for me.
She is an awesome teacher, her understanding of students needs is remarkable. She also keeps the assignments short and to the point. If you need help, she does the best she can to make the students succeed. Do not; show up late to class, be late for a quiz, leave early, or ask to retake a missed exam. These are common courtesies; be an adult.
She cares about having her class understand the concept before moving on
Easy class and a great professor. I took her in summer, so It was an 8 weeks class, Homework was optional so you don't have to do it , it is just for the practice , she dropped the two lowest quizzes, and the lowest test, very nice teacher .. take her !!!!!!!
Great at explaining things and very nice. Also Fine af. Didn't pass but I'd still take it again ;)
Amazing teacher, especially for trigonometry. Trigonometry was something I have always struggled with but Sandy changed that. She is the female Mr. Miyagi of math. She makes you wash the car, wax the car, and paint the fence math-wise. She then makes you apply the smaller skills when you face larger ones, and it all comes together. She is amazing.
what an amazing professor . i ddnt take math for about 6 years and she makes it so easy I passed with an A , just do your homework , attend the class , ask question and review the quiz before the exam and your A is in you pocket .
Quiz every thursday, Test every 2-3 weeks. It was not a hard class, I even missed classes often. But her personality is not approachable, and the lectures are not interesting, which makes it hard to focus.
Took this as an online refresher class. Class was a lot more work than I anticipated, but I made it through. She is very nice and accommodating. I would take one of her classes again.
Horrible confusing lecture. Extremely dry. Test grading is obscure and does not communicate well with students she isn't familiar with. Very kind remarks to some students. And not so kind to others
Best Math teacher I had in the past 14 years! Didn't pass the class last semester and had to take it again, she explained everything very well. The lowest test score I got was a 99. If it fit my schedule I'd take her next semester too.
I have taken her for 2 math courses now and she has made learning math so understandable. She takes her time explaining and tries to make it as least complex as she can. Best math teacher ever
She is a wonderful professor, for work reasons I had to retake my Calculus class after taking it with a terrible teacher the first time although I knew all material for the most part already. Taking her showed just how much better she is at explaining and taking her time to actually go through concepts instead of just reading through the material.
This class is not difficult at all. Professor Belew is kind and respectful to her students, like saving her current students a spot for Calc 2. If you pay attention in class and study the exam study guide questions, then there should be no reason why you can't get an A. Loved her class, would highly recommend.
Professor Belew was amazing throughout the entire semester. I had never taken any calculus and was nervous leading up to the class, but she made it very doable. She will go out of her way to help students whenever possible and wants all of her students to succeed. I plan on taking her for Calculus II as well. I highly recommend Professor Belew.
she is one of the best math teachers i have ever taken, she knows her stuff and cares about the students, quizzes every week but they are short and easy, the exams can be a bit tricky, but if you study the study guide you will get an easy A on them.
I took her for calc 3 and wish Id found her sooner. She teaches clearly and straightforward, has many quizzes but will occasionally allow group quizzes, and she will go to the tutoring center with groups of students to help with difficult material. Her tests are tough, but doable provided youve been paying attention and doing work. Shes hot.
on top a great person, she is by far one of the best mathematics teachers, working at Mesa. Be prepared to work though. She is caring and understanding but is not letting anyone slid. ITs a lot of work, but at the end of her class, you will understand calculus., and be ready to move on. She encourages teamwork among students. that helps a lot.
Professor Belew is great! Her lecture is clear and easy to understand!! Be ready for lots of homework that'll make up for 10% of your grade, and quizzes every week that will make up for 15% of it
The best math teacher i have ever had. She makes a huge effort to explain everything until everyone who wants to understand does, & that all information is covered. Outside of the classroom she is very helpful and responds to emails quickly. If you take her class just be there to learn and you will do great. This woman is worth her weight in gold.
This professor completely restored my confidence in math, which is something that I have struggled with since middle school. She went over concepts clearly and always asked if anyone had questions. She is also available to talk after class and in office hours. She never made me feel stupid for asking a question, but do not have your cell phone out.
I haven't passed Math 96 twice, but after taking her class it wasn't hard to do everything. The book was hardly used, only online for homework, she also doesn't give you like 40 problems to solve as homework like my previous teachers, and she's very nice, she helped me look for work a bit. Also I would recommend a tutor as well if one is in class.
Lectures are clear and understandable. Her tests are hard but the format of the questions are very similar to her lectures. She has quizzes very week but drops the two lowest scores and most of the time it is either take home or group work. Lots of homework online but it will help prepare you for her exams. She is an amazing professor!
She was alright for Calc 3. She took points off on homework for no reason which actually brought my grade down quite a lot. Her teaching was not as good as I expected. I had to work hard on my own to learn. I never struggled in Calc until I took it with her.
Hardest class I've ever taken, but she is a great professor. I spent most of my life outside class in the STEM center, and it almost paid off. She drops a lot of stuff, but the tests are very hard and she does not pull punches. The course really picks up in difficulty once series are introduced, so grab all the points you can before she gets to it.
She makes a lot of mistakes and doesn't proof read her study guides at all. It was hard to learn when your own teacher makes a lot of mistakes and doesn't correct them. If you make one mistake on the homework you get 0 points. Would take someone else instead
Best math professor in this universe. what makes her special is she really cares about EVERY student like it was one of her family members. She has passion for teaching math, never give you an attitude and is always positive and patient. I can tell she likes her job, she does her best to make sure student understand and are ready for the exam
Top notch math teacher, especially if you struggle (yet are willing to work)!. Great extra credit opportunities on each exam and gives optional midterm to improve grade. Does tutoring sessions after class, love going there with my classmates to learn, great environment. Really wants everyone to get it, but you've gotta try. Offers good insights.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND HER. If you are able to just learn on your own and do amazing then u should take her. She does not teach. Her homeworks are long and hard and she takes points off for no reason. Her tests are very difficult as well. Took calc 3 with her and struggled a lot. I never struggled with math before taking her and didnt learn anything.
3-6 hours of written homework per week. Lectures do not explain how to do many homework problems. Deducts points from homework without explanation. Average lecturer. Does not give any breaks for a 2 hour class. Very long final exam consists of 2 class days. Half is done one class, other half the next class. I would not recommend taking her class.
Her class was easy, the study guide was similar to the test so if you practice the study guide, you are GOLDEN. Though you have to do a lot of homework, LIKE A LOT OF HOMEWORK which will suck the life out of you. The professor is sweet and helpful, plus beautiful and attractive. I recommend her if you can put up with the homework, which I didn't.
Sandy was a really nice professor. She really wanted you to do well and motivated you. She took a lot of her own time to have study groups on a Friday. I disagree with the last person who said she didnt teach. However, her exams were pretty hard. And there were way too much homework and take home quizzes. I worked really hard for a B.
She is the best math professor you can take! She is very kind and impartial! Visit office hours when you have time, she makes the material so clear for you. There is so much homework, which sometimes is too much. But the grade consists of 80% exams grade. She provides study guides for each exam with almost the same questions on exams.
I don't understand how this is considered "teaching". The textbook is simply an online login, which is unhelpful and doesn't teach you anything. Homeworks are ridiculously long (as if we are only taking this class). Without having clear lesson plans, it's impossible to answer anything correctly and I find myself guessing rather than learning.
I took this class partially online; lots of homework but if you practice, you realize that it won't be difficult much. She explains lectures clearly by videos. She gives practice sheets before every exam and they are always straightforward. If you practice, you're sure to get an A. I wish she would teach Math 119. Recommend her!
she is a wonderful teacher that I've ever known, he did not require to buy a textbook or any excess code, I love that! I would take her Math151 class on the next term, so excited and can not wait!
Professor Belew is awesome! She is a great teacher and I really enjoyed her class. She definitely made calc a lot easier to learn. Tests were really easy as long as you take notes in class and she had weekly quizzes which helped keep the material in my head.
Goes above and beyond to ensure success. She joined groups of students at the STEM to assist with HW and answer further questions. Quizzes & HW Weekly. Very thorough in explanations. Know your graphs, basic integration, and derivs and you will excel in her CALC 2 course. She tries to follow along starting at CALC I - 3 to retain the same students.
Sandy, while not being the BEST math teacher I've had, cares more for her students than I've ever seen in a teacher. Often times students would ask questions during lectures and she quick to answer then as detailed as possible. But with that said, she goes over by 30-45 min every class. It's exhausting. Despite that, she teaches well, grades nicely
i Took her 6wk course in the fall of 2020. She used "My Open Math" for the assignments. She leaves all the assignments open so you can complete it at your own pace as long as you turn in something weekly you will be fine. This is a very good refresher course.
Very disorganized. Did not seem to prepare lectures before class (many errors every time). Goes over class time by 30 - 45 min. Grading is vague, and does not respond to follow-up questions on Canvas. Does not fully read emails sent. Based on previous reviews, this prof may be best in-person than online.
I sincerely don't understand how professor Belew has so many good reviews. Math 141 with her was a NIGHTMARE, specifically due to the lack of time on exams. It doesn't matter how much you know if you aren't able to finish 30 problems in two hours you won't get a good grade. Most stressful math class I've taken so far.
The format was pretty straightforward with weekly quizzes, a couple of exams, and a midterm/final. The class had issues when it came to the exams since we felt rushed and didn't finish at times, but she made attempts to accommodate us (somewhat unsuccessfully). Still, she's a great teacher and cares about her students!
Do not take this class. Grading system is off and makes it hard to succeed. Even after the students would tell her such she did not change it. Although she is super nice the long lectures and grading system makes it a very difficult class to pass.
I had a hard time understanding her lectures and she gave lots of homework and weekly quizzes. I wouldnt take again.
Had Professor Sandi for Linear Algebra - even took it honors. Linear is naturally a very abstract class but she provides more than enough extra resources to support the content from lecture. Exams and quizzes are really reasonable, but consistent. Go to office hours if anything gets too abstract. Just keep up and grades will be more than fine imo
Do not take this professor by any means! She covers the chapter concept once for 5 minutes at the beginning of class then focuses on crazy problems that span 40 minute and many pages. I never got a solid understanding of the core material from her. Be prepared to learn on YT. Also weekly quizzes and tests are RIDDLED with errors. Every single one.
Sandy is the GOAT! She expects you to have a solid math foundation, and if you do, the class is a breeze. SEVERAL in our class couldnt do simple integrals, and diff EQ is calc 2 on steroids. Instead of blaming their lack of knowledge, they blame her. See the review below. They act like this is lower math and think problems shouldbe 1minute long lol
Overall, Professor Belew is decent. She goes a bit fast during the lectures, skips some important steps while solving problems, and is ok at explaining the concepts. She is very kind and generous with her grading (and as a person), but quite disorganized. Homework on MyOpenMath is helpful and she posts a study guide for each exam. Same for 254.
This is my favorite math professor of all time its too bad she's semi-retired. One of the fairest grading criteria I have ever come across. If you know the material and you make minor algebra mistakes she'll barely deduct points. If you don't know what you are doing she'll dock you accordingly. The lectures were also very good, she knows her stuff!
Diffeq is a hard subject, she knows the material really well and explains it very efficiently. she wants you to practice and is available during office hours to help clarify any questions
