great teacher, interesting and fun class, i reccomend it to everyone, pretty easy for the level too. just very large so its impersonal.

A fun class, Sandy puts a lot of energy into it, and brings cool guest lecturers in. Definitely a good class to take. Just go to class, do the few assignments, and make sure to study the things that she says will be on the prelims, and you'll do fine.

Wonderful professor, she is energetic and funny. The class is also very interesting.

Who wouldn't want to take Human Sex? Hilarious class, probably the only class where I actually went to every one. She's funny, there are a lot of books but the class is easy enough. I surprisingly learned a lot too.... Very fun!

Wants students to learn what she wants to teach. Does this well. Is liberally biased, though that is not unexpected from a human sexuality teacher. Overall, even with political fodder, I learned a lot that I didn't know. Good job.

Dr. Caron is wonderful! I took both of her classes at the same time (clasrom/on line). You learn a lot and she makes them all fun! She goes the extra mile to make classes worth attending--guest speakers, skits, etc. Listen to her--it could save your life or a lot of money getting divorced!

Dr. Caron is awesome! I love her class. The material is very interesting and she makes class a lot of fun. She works very hard juggling 375 students. Whatever UMaine is paying her is not enough. Give her a raise!

great class, great professor. Only problem was I was 9 words short of the minumum amount of words on a paper and she took away 5 points out of 50. But if you are willing to fight for your grade, she is willing to compromise.

I loved this teacher. i signed up again for her classes for this next semester. Easy, fun class. she gives you lots of oppertunity for extra credit and your grade isnt just based on exams, so its great for those of us who dont do well on exams. the teacher is hillarious and a very sweet lady!

AWESOME TEACHER. She is absolutly hillarious. ive taken chf200 and chf351 with her and I love Sandy. She is very funny and very informative. Gives lots of extra credit and if you show up for class its really hard to fail her classes. I recomend any class taught by Sandy Caron to eveyone. You can tell she really enjoys what she does.

Dr. Caron is Amazing. Any class with her is worth taking. I have taken 3 and loved them all. She is not a man-basher, she is only honest and intelligent concerning gender issues. People who say she is a man-basher obviously have no background in gender studies. I suggest they take their heads out of the sand.

Dr. Caron keeps the class fun and entertaining. She's very liberal and uses the classroom as a way to express and introduce her students into these views. She likes to get a little lippy with guys but I wouldn't call her a man-basher. Assignments were super easy and tests were mostly from the reading--so do the reading! Great class, easy A!

"Overall more of a circus act than a college course." I disagree. Dr. Caron makes the class interesting and I would much rather sit through a professor who cares about her students then one whom has conducted the same lecture for the last 20 years. Many professors just stand in front of the class, Dr. Caron is actually motivating and interactive.

Sandy is the best! I don't know what that last person is talking about because I felt that both classes I have taken with her very very insightful. Caron thinks outside the box when she teaches and makes it fun, which makes the material stick. Everyone should be required to take a class with Sandy!

I have found that much of what Sandy covers in her class is information that the individual can use for the rest of their lives. Her class is unique because it provides the student with insight that cant be found in other courses. The lessons are about life,family,self-esteem and relationships. The material is to the student's long term benifit.

Dr. Caron is hands down the most kind and understanding professor I have EVER had. This semester has brought about a series of unfortunate events for me and she has listened to and accommodated me through every event (including READING THE WRONG BOOK!). Her lectures are fun and very interesting and you WILL learn something new. Take her class!

This was the Human Sexuality course. It is a lot of reading and weekly work. It is not an easy course. Several books must be read also. You will learn a lot and grading is more than fair. Extra credit chances to make up for bad tests, etc. Great professor and very fast turn around for test and paper scores. It is upper level and is taught as such.

Dr. Sandy Caron is certainly knows her stuff. She makes learning interesting in the sense that she has lots of fun activities, and the reading material is not to boring (it is sexuality we are talking about). I like that she played music in the beginning of class and that all the exams were themed (CIA, pajamas...) Her exams are fair!

Interesting class (CHF 200) attendance mandatory. She keeps things fun, however she is very opinionated. Didn't offend me, or most others. She is very helpful I think!

Disappointing. The material itself was interesting, and an easy A, but Sandy Caron is one stuck up woman. Don't bother trying to talk to her outside of class. Unprofessional and ignorant. The book is a waste of money as well.

I took all of Dr. Caron's classes as an undergrad and graduate student and also taught for her while she was on sabbatical. Excellent professor--the negative comments here are students who were either too lazy to do any work or are angry thinking they "deserved" an "A" because they paid for the class. Saw many of them while at UMO..:)

Very fun and exciting class. Tests require you to remember back to previous lectures with guest speakers which can be hard, but overall an easy and fun class.

Wonderful professor. You get to know her more and respect her more in smaller classes. Her bigger classes it is hard to have a good student-professor bond. She is willing to help and is very understanding. Do not BS her though, she will know and will not like it. Respect her and your learning and there will be no problems!

VERY EASY CLASS. Honestly, the class is super interesting. I don't agree with the way Dr. Caron approaches topics but I do agree with As. In this class, you'll get an A if you keep all of the crosswords and study them for the test. Basically meaning, you have to go to class. Lots of extra credit options too!

Love the class -- As long as you show up and don't sleep (it's hard to with how interesting her lectures are anyways) the class is well worth it and easy to pass. It's a fun and interactive and there's lots of extra credit! She's my favorite professor and I recommend any of her classes to anybody interested.

funny and actually not rude as some people have claimed. she's pretty sassy but if you actually work like a college student in a 300 level class you will easily get an A and she will be willing to work with you. Gives a lot of extra credit.

She is a terrible person and does not care about the well being of her students, she makes threats and attacks them for being kids. I would never recommend her to anyone looking to learn about Human Sexuality or Family.

I thought Dr. Caron was a very good teacher in lectures she likes to interact with the crowd walk around ask questions. She uses a very wide range or teaching techniques and interesting ways to teach the material. She has some fun classes and work for outside the class.

Favorite teacher at the University of Maine

This class was one of my favorites because most of the classes were either guest speakers or activities done by volunteers. At first I thought the class was going to be hard because of the timed quizzes and tests but she gives a lot of other assignments and offers extra credit which really helped my grade. I would definitely recommend the class

Amazing lectures and worth every minute! She's an excellent professor and person and although she may seem stand-offish, she is far from it. Also attended the CHF351 Europe trip and learned even more of how great of a professor she is. Highly recommend!

This woman is such a sweetheart! Very passionate about teaching and that is made clear. Very open minded and accepting of other's beliefs. VERY FUNNY and witty! This is one of the best classes I have taken and if I could take it again just for fun I would.

Sandy Caron has an enormous heart. Dont be afraid to approach her for one on one conversation. Respect her and she will respect you! She offers a lot of extra credit, its easy to pass.

Overall a respectful and inspirational professor. My only complaint was that the tests were challenging. This is a class that requires a lot of studying. Don't expect to get an easy grade just by reading the book. Be prepared for the 20+ minute timed tests.

She is so nice and sweet. Very well renowned and knows her stuff. My mom had her when she went here and loved her and then i took her class and loved her! Your grade relies on 3 essays and your exams, but they arent difficult, just pay attention. The material is very interesting, and she has a lot of fun guest speakers. I never missed a class!

Sandy is a solid professor. This class is graded on 3 exams, 3 papers, and iClicker points. The papers are pretty easy, but the exams are pretty tough so make sure you study hard. She provides crossword puzzles to help you study which are super helpful. Her lectures are interesting and even pretty funny at times. Solid class, would recommend.

As long as you go to class and pay attention you will be fine. Her exams are heavily based on info from attending lectures. She is a fair grader and her lectures are genuinely interesting 95% of the time. She cares about her students and wants you to do well in her class.

When reading the other reviews on Dr. Caron, try to take the bad ones with a grain of salt. This class was super easy, and honestly very interesting. She is nice, caring, and willing to work with students to succeed. She's very knowledgable! Many extra credit options. The workload is very manageable. Grading is very fair - you get what you put in.

Made class fun by playing music before class started, uses iclicker (expensive) so you have to be in class to get the iclicker points, open note exams, easy homework, interesting lectures

There's a ton of extra credit and the main things you get graded on is iclicker attendance and "couple assignments". The material is fairly easy to comprehend and all the quizzes are open note, it's obvious she wants you to do well.

Most of the exam questions are about material in the lecture so go! The main assignments are super easy and she wants you to do well. The TAs are heavily involved so reach out to them before you email her.

Very easy grader, takes late work without taking off much points. Required readings were easy I skimmed them for the most part to write my essays. Online class with lectures you can watch on your own time.

I took this course during the 3-week winter session. It was fast-paced, but very well organized. You had to watch the lecture videos and discuss it, along with 3 exams and 1 essay. Dr. Caron is a great teacher and teaches this important topic with passion.

I have taken several courses with her and she is one of my favorite professors. She is very passionate about her courses, as well as knowledgeable. She is a great professor, as well as an amazing mentor. I highly recommend building a bond with her outside the classroom, as she is a professor that cares about her students, well past graduation.

I took this class online and it was super easy, just a weekly discussion post that only the prof and TA read, and then 3 quizzes and 3 papers, but she cut the papers down to 2. Such an easy grader, if you do the work, you'll succeed. I never fully watched lectures, just a few minutes in order to say something for discussion posts.
