Very degrading when questions are asked. Treats students in childish manner. Likes to "trick" during exams. Reviews are not substantial. Expect a quiz on chapter in book BEFORE taught. Teaching style is not helpful.
SANDRA CHERIE HENDERSON is a pretty good professor. The class is long, but she works in class with examples. Tests are not too bad, but you do need to study. She is overall a very nice teacher and pretty laid-back.
I didn't mind her class. There are lots of projects in this class though it is not up to her. Class should be called practical accounting for a non-accounting major IMO. Liked her a lot more than my other accounting teachers.
She pretends to care, dots her I's and crosses her t's when it comes to responding to email. Yet when it really matters she's not there. She's a horrible teacher. This was an elective for me too. It did not peak my interest. It was set up to be harder than it actually is. Too many projects for the material. Long group project. Poor teaching skills.
Horrendous teacher! She's rude in her responses to questions. She pretends to care but doesn't. She will respond to emails but is not helpful. Has too many projects for the material. Made the material harder than it is. I did not find the class useful or interesting. I found it a waste of time. Poor teaching skills. I do not recommend!
Sweet and sensible. Relevant real world experience. Material requires that you study, but she is good at teaching it. I got a C because I was lazy, but that's my fault not hers.
At first i thought shame on whoever allowed this lady to graduate with a phd. she is a HORRIBLE teacher, all she does is get up and read slides. she assigns a great deal of projects so be ready to work. i would strongly advise you to try another teacher
not very approachable or helpful, she would be a lot better teacher if she learned how to connect with her students. she doesn't seem to have an adequate grasp of the course material. lots of work and projects are required for this class. I would try and get someone else
Good Professor! I'm not into this subject and I'm unmotivated. 3 group projects, willing to help you out, reviews before the exams, alot of reading, boring lectures, she has a great personality and doesn't mind if you voice your opinion about how much you hate accounting! Easy A if accounting is for you, if not B or C. I'm getting a B.
I am at the end of the semester... and I am very happy for that! Ridiculous amount of time consuming projects, hard tests. Definitely do not take this course as an accounting elective. It is not an easy A in any way. For those required to take this course, she is better than the other prof. I have heard.
WORST ACCOUNTING CLASS EVER!! I would not recommend this teacher to anyone. ESPECIALLY if you took accounting at another school. The first test EVERBODY failed, but two people SMH!! Second test average was a 72. I think this class was a waste of time WAYYY TO MAY PROJECTS and the last one was due during DEAD WEEK...I do NOT recommend this professor
3 projects and 3 exams. She made the class difficult as an elective for non-acct majors. She does not prepare the class for anything. This could have been an online class since we basically had to teach everything ourselves. She's friendly, but thats all.
Likes to make it harder than it has to be. Study a little and you'll be fine, if you go to her office, she will help you. Makes herself available. Kinda dorky and boring, but pleasant and polite.
Too many time consuming projects. If you can't figure 1 of the projects out, she laughs & shrugs her shoulders. Teaches verbatim from slides, yet tests from the book. She plays favorites & gives vague answers when going to her for help. I do not recommend
This class is a killer but it's required for Accounting so what can you do. There are projects throughout the year that are very time consuming and the tests are extremely difficult. This has been my hardest class this semester and I will be lucky to pull a B. I'm not sure if it's the teacher or the material but the class if difficult. Good Luck.
She makes an already tough class harder than it should be. She expects graduate level work on projects, and makes you guess at what she really wants. And there are LOTS of projects. Our class test averages were always about 68 and quizzes less than that. I spent about 3 times as much time on this class as ACCT 3311, and learned less.
Hard class not due to the course material. Must memorize each chapter for the tests. Do the projects at least a week in advance to the due date. PowerPoints are useless. Use the textbook. Will take more time than 3311. If you have a choice, take it over summer.
She's a nice lady, but this is a very hard class. This class was more work than my other three combined. Assigns 4 projects, 2 of which are very hard and time consuming. Be prepared to work hard to pass this class.
She treats you like you're in elementary school. Pretty much has no respect whatsoever to her students. Grades on grammer heavily to where even if your project is perfect content wise it'll still be docked major points. Hurts your grade!
This class will be hard no matter what teacher you take it with. Do the recommended problems she gives, they are really helpful. projects are very time consuming, but if you do well they really help make up your grade.
Hard class with a lot of projects. She doesn't make it easier with meticulous grading, like docking points from projects for stuff like stapling incorrectly. Lectures selectively, and tests on concepts not covered in class. Tests are more in depth than her lecture and focus on application. Do recommended problems and memorize book.
This class was pretty horrible, but you don't have much of a choice. Henderson requires several projects throughout the semester, which makes it hard to keep up with other classes. I would try reading a chapter like three times because the review's don't help either.
This class is just horrible. The material is presented to be a lot harder then it actually should be. Projects are required weekly and the exams are difficult, read the chapters.
This class has very little to do with typical accounting things like Debits and Credits. It's more internal controls and computer systems used in accounting. The professor is about "meh". I never had issues with her, she just seems to no care much. She just wants to get paid and go home is the feeling I get from her. Take someone else IF you can
The class was difficult have to read the book and do the reviews pretty much teach yourself. Her lectures where not helpful or slides. Pretty much have to make up your own study guide. Prepare to spend alot of time on this class
The many projects are time consuming but easy. That is the only easy thing in her class. She goes off the slides but test off the book. Not bad if the book wasn't horribly written and boring. Take during a short semester
Gives 4 tests and 4 projects. On avg, each of the 3 projects is as much work as a test; 1 project (group) takes as much work as 2 tests. 9 tests is a fair equivalent. The group proj requires mastery of the stuff you are just learning; e.g. internal controls isn't taught til last 3 wks but is a huge part of group proj. Makes no sense; not an intro.
Three tests and one comprehensive final. Also there are 4 projects which include one big group project due at the end of the semester. The three individual projects are easy but time consuming. The group project is tough. This was the hardest class I have taken. Still I got a B and know nothing about info systems. Just be ready for a lot of work.
This professor is just awful. Don't take her! Her exams have nothing to do with her lecture and makes her lecture mandatory for attendance. Her projects are very vague and doesn't help you with them and expects you to know what you are doing. She always have smart comments when you ask for help. DO NOT TAKE HER! You will regret it
Ugh this class was so hard. She is vague with her projects, test are extremely difficult. Projects are also very time consuming but I don't think that varies between professors.
The material is NOT difficult to understand; what's difficult to understand is her explanation of the material. This class is all about time-consuming studying, time-consuming individual projects, boring lectures, a semester-long group project (that counts as a test grade), unhelpful office visits, and a much lower grade than you're capable of.
4 exams & 4 projects. She doesn't provide hard copy notes but instead has us copy her handwritten notes during lecture (unnecessary and pointless)! The notes and reviews are vague. Read the book BEFORE the test because there's detailed questions on exams. Stay away if you don't like professors that badger the author of the book every class.
Many projects. The time for course equals to 3 other courses. You have to prepare for the comprehensive Final and make your own study guide since the beginning of the semester.
Henderson did not curve any of our three tests or the final. There is also a hard group project and three individual projects! I made a high B on every test and project, but with no curves on anything that's what I got in the class. I wouldn't take her again
Professor Henderson is an okay person and an okay teacher. She isn't very helpful at times but responds to emails quickly. She seems to just want to do her job and be done. She is not very friendly and tests are hard. The projects are time consuming but not too complicated. Studying is required to make an A, I got a B
She is one of the most terrible teachers ever! She doesn't curve grades on the 3 tests or the comprehensive final at all! If you must, then take this class but with a different teacher. Otherwise, choose another class for your elective! I would never take her again or recommend anyone to take this class and any class that she teaches.
If you need an acct elective, then this is not the class to take. The multiple projects are very time consuming and unrelated to the test you have to take. Try not to ask too many questions because you would feel uncomfortable after doing so.
I wish my GROUP partner would have told me about his test bank PRIOR to two days before the final. If you find someone with the test bank, EASY A. If you don't have the test bank, C+
Would not take her for this class. She is vague with the review. READ the book it helps understand better. If you ask questions she makes you feel stupid. Does not curve tests and gives you VERY time consuming projects as if you do not have other projects for other classes. Do not recommend her.
Don't recommend this professor at all, but sadly she's the best option for this course. But as long as you read the book multiple times, you should at least make a B. Tests aren't hard if you READ the book (all multiple choice). Don't expect any curves. Very time consuming projects: 3 individual, 1 group project.
Ms. Henderson is not bad. The class is just difficult. I recommend you read the book after every lecture not before. Projects are time consuming! If you follow her notes, the review sheet, and reed the book before the exam there is no reason why you can not make a high B or A. She also loves it when students come to her for help.
The material is easy but when you take her tests she makes it really hard. The tests have two sections, multiple choice and "work out"(most of the time they didn't even involve a problem). The "work out" questions is where she gets you. Her grading is very subjective.
She just read the book in class!!I feel so sleepy in he class. Not friendly. Hard test. No curve.
The whole material is not hard, her tests are just confusing. Anybody who could pass me the word bank would appreciate it since I would have to repeat this class again.
She is a great professor overall. Yes the lecture can seem a little boring, but i like the structure of her class. Working some example problems in class was really helpful. I like that she would ask us for our opinion on several things regarding the class and what worked best for us. I would recommend her.
Just don't take her. She doesn't seem to be too intelligent and just reads off of the slides. I stopped going to class altogether and got a B because she made us do the assignments before they were covered in class.
I would for sure take again. She gives you notes that she types herself and you just have to memorize those notes for the tests. The 4 projects take 6+ hours each, so do not start them at the last minute. They aren't super hard projects, just super time consuming. The group project is basically a combination of all the individual projects.
So the only thing that got me through this class was God. You must go to class, and pay attention so that you can understand how to do the problems. Hardest class I ever took at UT Arlington's graduate program. I'm not going to lie though, she is cool and nice. Jut have to talk to her. 2 tests, 1 project, and participation is super important.
Make sure you keep up with the reading, ask questions. Go to supplemental instruction (SI tutoring). There were 4 exams which helps. I made 2 A's and 2 B's and a C on the final (which is made by the department). Study good for the comprehensive final, I ran out of time taking it. I ended up with a B in the course. She knows her stuff.
Very tough! doesn't give curves, tests are tricky. Study, study, study, read, read, and ask questions!
Tough class. Her tests are murder. And you must start earlier than you think on the group project, you have to get her to help you on it in her office hours, otherwise you won't get it right. The last two weeks before finals there is at least an hour wait to see her during office hours. I'm an A student, this is the second B in my college career.
This class starts off easy but the material quickly gets tougher and tougher. I feel like she gives an attitude when you ask her questions. Lectures are long. The class is alright and the individual projects aren't too bad. The group project is tough though. I would recommend the class, but the professor not so much.
Professor Henderson is amazing! Loved her class and her way of teaching. Material is very clear. You just have to work for it. Make sure to go to class, pay attention, and read the book. 4 exams and 4 very fun projects. Loved the material, but it was the hardest B of my life. Looking forward to take graduate classes with Professor Henderson.
Henderson is not a bad prof. its just the class is very different from other ACCT classes. This class requires you to read and take good notes. The 4 proj. are not bad, just get started on it as early as possible. Test are tricky, you have to memorize the book to get a good grade. This class is meant for us to make an B.
She gives great lectures, and there are no surprises. There's a group project, unfortunately, that counts for a large percent of your grade. You really need to read the book and study for exams. The professor is great, and I'm enjoying her class.
Make sure you chug a red bull before class because this might possibly be the most boring teacher at UTA. No real work experience in accounting. Makes a lot of excuses as to why she isn't prepared. AAAC. Avoid At All Costs.
She is great, but it seems harder than necessary. Exams require a lot of thought. It's not just memorizing the book, you must actually understand and think it through when taking the exams (which are very hard). The projects are time consuming, and the group project is a beast. But there's no better professor for this course. Final comprehensive.
Nice lady, but some material is confusing while other is dupe of Ops and Finance. Online hw and study system fools you into thinking you're doing well, then you bomb tests. Comprehensive final, but you need to meet with her one-on-one to go over old tests. Huge hassle. UTA makes their acct harder then needed, esp for non-Acct majors.
Professor Henderson is a tough teacher. If you are one point away from getting a certain letter grade she will not round up. She is very stern and the lectures can be boring sometimes but it's a required class.
2 exams, 1 comprehensive final. Exams questions are a bit tricky but gives a very small curve. Her lecture bit boring, make sure you read and study. Attend class bcuz she does work out problems in class that helps with exams. Gives quizzes but it there is alot of class participation, she doesnt give them.
I would recommend not taking this class unless you absolutely have to or any class with this professor. She does not respect her students and is always ready to argue, even if you simply ask a question. If you are doing MSA to become CPA eligible, save the time and go to a Community College to get the credits. DO NOT TAKE unless you don't like life
First off she is a nice lady. This class was terrible. The homework assignments were more like small projects, they would literally take 4 or more hours to complete. What made them worse they had NOTHING to do with the tests and had low impact on our grade. The tests were full of trick questions and items not covered in class. Take someone else
The class is terrible the way she teaches dosnt make sense because she be having powerpoints slides beside her and writes them in the paper so we can write it as well. Her assignments are straight from other professor assignments but she adds more things that makes it more difficult to do.
The workload is reasonable. Her tests generally reflect the material provided, and one can adequately prepare by doing the homework and reading, and attending class. Some test questions can really "get down into the weeds" insofar as minute details. Ready carefully . She is available outside of class time to help.
Was stuck with her: she utterly doesn't care. Homeworks aren't written clearly & expect to be heavily grade bludgeoned, if you don't submit exactly the way she wants, even though it isn't clear. No extra credit. Doesn't work with you. Extremely rigid, callous & shows intimidation . Taking this class elsewhere; ^watch out, or...-->GPA cyanide.
Ms. Henderson is very intimidatingly. Her assignments are unclear, and when you email her about it she sits there and belittles you with her tone of voice and does not understand why you are confused about an assignment. NOT willing to help at all. I have emailed her twice about assignments and she is just plain rude. STAY AWAY !!!
she is really hard professor , her test are really hard and confusing ,and her long assignment that she gives were hard and long and doesn't worth much on your grade so you have to pass all of her exam to pass the class .STAY WAY FROM THIS PROFFESOR CHOSE A DIFFERENT ONE , IF YOU HAVE THE OPTION.
The lady is rude. Talks down on students. Tone of voice when you ask a question is disrespectful. Instructions for assignments are confusing and unclear (they take hours to complete!!) and she gets an attitude refusing to explain them further when you ask her to, just repeats them. Exams are difficult with class avg always being in the 60s.
Professor Henderson was truly the worst professor I have ever had. She put in mediocre effort at best in teaching this course. I attended every lecture the first half of the semester and bombed the midterm. I did not attend a single lecture the second half of the semester, taught myself the material and got an A on the final. Don't waste your time.
I had a bad case of COVID during the school year and was very sick. When I tried to give her a doctors note, with a doctor stating I was too sick to complete and work or school, she rejected as reason to turn in a project 2 days late. I recieved a 0 on the project. So make plans not to get sick or lose any close relatives during the school year.
Professor Henderson really wanted her students to pass and to understand the material. She gave a study guide for each exam, study mostly from the book, stay ontop of excel and other projects, show up to class.Gave out some extra-credit points randomly.Don't be afraid to ask questions! She's very understanding that people have a life outside of class
She taught this course during the summer semester and she is a great professor. We used a new textbook and it was in depth about everything. Attendance is mandatory and there is a project that is long but if you email her or go to office hours, she will help you. A few people complain but if you read, do the homework, and go to class you will pass.
She has a seating chart in college.... Her notes are abysmal as they aren't comprehensive or detailed. Attendance is mandatory, but her tests don't follow the lectures. Projects require a $70+ charge in addition to $100+ spent on the textbook. She gives unclear instructions and makes tech errors with assignments (wrong due dates, can't access work)
Not a nice woman, she gave assignments that took 6-8 hours to complete with little to no direction. Expected us to figure everything out ourselves, didn't give exam reviews, two homework assignments per chapter, and had a seating chart. Very unhelpful when asking for help or clarification, she was actually just pretty degrading. Wouldn't reccomend.
Extremely hard assignments with little to no instructions, tests are super hard and consist of multiple choice and flowcharts/diagrams. You have to dedicate hours to this class to get anything done. Save yourself the trouble, select a different professor
Boring lectures, you stare at a screen copying what she is writing down. There is a new assignment every two weeks, these assignments have very little instructions or support from professor. Expect each assignment to take anywhere from 6-8 hours and have no relevance to the exams. No exam reviews, tests are hard but have a curve. Do not recommend.
If you can take another professor for this class DO IT. She is by far the worst professor I have ever taken. She refuses to help you and super condescending. 3-4 assignments that take hours to complete close to the end of the semester.
Online assignments were made way more difficult than necessary. The professor was also not willing to openly help you without giving some backhanded comments as well. There is no guidance or reviews for tests and nothing is ever clear in her instructions.
Professor Dr. Henderson was consistently condescending, rude, and unhelpful. Their dismissive attitude towards students and refusal to offer assistance on assignments created a hostile learning environment. Avoid this professor if possible.
Goodness, please avoid. Toughest professor i have ever had. Not willing to help, and never willing to admit when she is wrong. Assignments take 6 hours MINIMUM and are so outdated. Please please please take another professor. Save yourself the trouble.
Toughest professor for sure! She throws an assignment to you with little information that has so many parts. It is best to do it with other students together. No powerpoints, all her own notes. Pay attention!
While this class could be difficult at some points due to having to learn new software and processes, Dr. Henderson is very knowledgeable and always open to help, though as others have said, her tone can come off as condescending and rude, even if unintentionally.
She can come off as rude/condescending when answering a question. Other than that she is chill. Beware the Capstone project, you'll need to use the school's lab for it. They take longer than you think so plan ahead and plan to see that type of work again for the final. Just wish everything "harder" wasn't left towards the end of the semester.
If you like accounting, you will be fine. Her projects aren't too bad once you get the hang of it just ask her during her office hours if you have any questions. Once you get to know the professor, you'll see she's actually nice. She's soft-spoken, so make sure to pay attention during lectures. Kinda dorky and funny sometimes.
