SHe is a magnificent teacher! You will not learn more in another class. Her assignments and tests are clear and fair. She is very animated and interesting. I highly recommend her!

she was a relatively easy teacher but she was tough and expected you to do the work and didnt think the group was that intelligent either. she has lost faith in college students but nice enough.

Great professor, really knows the material. There are no surprises on her tests, she covers all the material if you pay attention. Also, gives alot of extra credit to help your grade. I enjoyed her class immensely.

This class and teacher were both a great experience. She is the best at explaining the material and offers so much extra credit that works out to your own advantage. She presented the material in a very interesting way. One of the best!

I really loved this class, she was really good at explaining all the material & making sure it was understood. There were a lot of extra credit assign., but the tests were somewhat hard. You are however to look at all her old tests to see how she forms them. Last semseter our 1st test was take home.

wonderful, wonderful woman and professor. no official papers and several extra credit opportunities to boost your grade. pay attention and take notes... the knowledge shared in this class is worth far more than the final letter grade. see beyond the numbers and listen to what's being said.

I promise that you will use EVERYTHING you learn from ANY one of her classes in the future. As with ANY teacher: do the work, participate, ask for help if you need it...It is in her nature to be fair...if you fail it is your own fault.

She was a great professor to take. very informative and fair. Gives test reviews and gives options to take the tests with other classes that she teaches. U can miss a test and still be ok if u do extra credit.

I think she's a very fair teacher. Her tests a little hard, but she gives out tons of extra credit for students. Very hard to get a bad grade in her class. Very lenient with missed classes as long as you tell her before hand. I enjoyed her class very much.

she is a very interesting and layed back down to earth teacher i really really enjoyed her class. the content wasn't too, hard but her tests are graded very hard you have to be thuro. she gives opptions for alot of extra credit MAKE SURE YOU DO SOME! it will definetly help when you think you pass her tests and you don't i made that mistake.

This is a very interesting class. Prof. Emmaschild gives out plenty of extra-credit, but she will NOT give a make-up exam. As long as you call her or email her, she will excuse missed classes. The first two tests were difficult, essay exams. The last was a fairly easy t/f exam.

Gives about 3 or four essay tests and then one mulitple choice test. You need to pay attention and take really good notes in class in order to get good grades. I found this class really interesting because she teaches clearly and makes the topics interesting. I learned alot in this class. She has ALOT of extra credit too!!

The best professor I had all through college - I go to Geneseo now and I have not had a professor as intresting or clear as her!!She is awesome, in my Humanties class now which is like a combination of history, english and philosophy I am so much ahead of all the other students in my class because of what she taught us. She was the laid back, down to earth type of professor. I found what she said to be very interesting... the class itself turned out to be more interesting that I thought it would. After taking this class you will have a better understanding of the roots of your cultural/religious beliefs.

She is very helpful gives plenty of extra credit and her test r easy. If u participate and do the readings she'll love u and you'll enjoy the class I never had any intrest in Mythology and she made me enjoy the class very much that I made my friends take her. She teachs many diff classes so is a bit unorganize but she is a great professor-my best!

Very knowledgeable in all of the topics covered, and able to provide more information on topics not covered in the books. Excellent philosophy professor and knows nearly all there is to know about religion.

What a wonderful woman in everyway If you want to learn then this is the class to take. There are three tests and 1 paper and a lot of extra credit. She doesn't ask much of you and she is such a knowledgeable woman. I adore her....DONT MISS OUT ON A WONDERFUL COLLEGE EXPERIENCE WITH HER!!!!!!!!!!!!

I liked her class so much that I'm taking another class with her, even though it's not required on my SAIN report. For anyone who wants to think or learn, this is the class. Her knowledge and teaching skills are amazing.

I loved her mythology class. She is very strict about her rules, but she gives you planty of chances for extra credit. It is very easy to follow the class discussions even for those who are not so much interested in the subject. However, her tests can be diffucult if you don't do the readings and don't take notes.

interesting class, def not what i expected. hard tests and you really gotta take notes like everyone else below has said but TONS of extra credit and pretty easy going with attendance as long as you give her a heads up and dont make it a habit. i liked her but i would have liked more roman mythology.

Best Professor! She is very knowleageble and brings alot of interesting historical and personal experiences that coincide with the class that you will care to remember. Read your book, be prepared and take good notes. She gives lots of extra credit to help with your grade and she is always available and wants to help where she can.

I now realize that true/false tests can be difficult. DO THE READING, know the material, and just as importantly... do an extra credit!! Full credit on one will give you 25 points added on to a test grade and by the end of the semester you'll kick yourself if you never do at least one. You will also have to write a story but it's not too hard.

ok yes she is a hard ass, tests are hard, there is a lot of work....BUT SO MUCH EXTRA CREDIT ITS INSANE!!!!! i love her. she very easy to talk to and as long as you participate she likes you. i already signed up for her harry potter class!!!! i will keep taking classes with her

I loved her! No, you will not be able to sail through her class! She is really intelligent and knows a lot about what she is teaching! Her tests are hard, so take good notes and read the book. However, she offers a lot of extra credit, but no make up tests! I loved her lectures and thought she was brilliant! I would take another class by her again

Good teacher, this class is like her life though, so u will be doin alot of work its deff not an easy grade, she gives 3 test t/f & u explain why its t/f then short essay question, she picks on you in class to answer her questions which i didnt like. She doesnt give make up test, but she does give 4extra credits which r 25points each DO THEM!

seemed like a good teacher until she started using examples such as calling a particular racial group inferior. made me feel uncomfortable. should have reported to dean. Few students were upset in the class. TACTLESS teacher!

very condescending. On the first day she put down a racial group.the second day said and accused everyone of buying their papers online. Jeeze, give us hardworking students some credit!then the third day, we didn't know the meaning of aparticular word. of course she had something to say.she always does! Enjoyed her class. Do the assignments, take notes in class, read the small amount of material she assigns, & do the extra credits she gives, it's an easy A. Very Fair, Very Amusing, 1 of my favoriate Prof's so far at Suffolk. I only wish she wouldn't hold back the class for those who don't want to be there. This isn't High School.

Wonderful, amazing and helpful. Not only did she expand my every day thinking beyond what we are introduced to but she is also so caring. I had to send in a paper to another professor whose class was across from her office and I was out of town, Emmachild was nice enough to print, staple and take it over so I wouldn't fail!

I've had her for,philosophy, mythology, women and religion, women and the law,and sexism in the humanities. The classes are easy and fun if you are there to learn and prepared to work. no easy A's, but you can learn more in her classes than any other class. she is very intelligent and really wants you to learn, a great teacher and a great person.

Prof. Emmachild is a good teacher. She allows all of her students to speak their mind no matter what their opinion is. Her classes are interesting and she tries to make them fun. When it comes to grading she is extremely fair, you just need to really read her syllabus. She also gives alot of extra credit!

Classes are very easy, just really have to show up and you'll do fine. Homework and tests on the other hand are challenging and very time consuming. Would not recommend for someone to take as your first Philosophy class. But overall she is a fair teacher. Extra credit available to help boost your grade.

I LOVE this woman! As long as you DO the work, she is a totally fair grader and she values people's opinions. She taught me more than all my other professors have taught me all together. Basically, if you actually make an effort, she'll grade you fairly.

I never knew I could enjoy a class so much! Not only is the topic extremely interesting but I learned so much! She lets everyone speak and as long as you can defend your point she appreciates it. If you plan on doing no work, this class is not worth it for you but If you do the work, you'll walk away with the reward of actually learning something!

I actually had her for both mythology and philosophy or religion. I honestly don't know what people are saying in regards to the race issue. I'm of mixed race and get very sensitive when an authority figure talks down a racial group, I will pick up on it quickly, so I really don't remember that. Rudest teacher I've ever had. Complains when nobody attempts to answer her questions but patronizes people when they do. Most teachers persuade students to attempt to answer even if they may be wrong, this one sits back and publicly insults you for an incorrect answer. Perhaps she should have been a comedian instead.

She is a wonderful teacher. She's funny smart and awesome! If you read the text and take good notes you will ace this class. The exams are easy as well as the paper assignment. She offers multiple extra credits, and past exams are posted on her website for you to study before taking the real exams. If you fail this class it is your own fault!

Excellent teacher, her demands are few, just read the material and you will ace with flying colors. She will call on everyone in the class, if you do the reading you will know the answers. She is extremely knowledgable and it is nice to see a professor that enjoys her work as much as she does. Her mythology class is fantastic.

the professor is correct in saying that there's no reason you shouldn't get an A in her class. that doesn't mean you can slack off, it just means that there are enough optional assignments that if you bomb an exam, you're covered. the classes are socratic interspersed with brilliant lectures, and with a good amount of reading. you will think!

Loved this class. She's extremely interesting and I learned far more than I expected to get out of a mythology class. Do the reading, participate in class, ask questions. She's a teacher, she's there to help you. The only reason one would do poorly in her class is they didn't read or do the work expected.

Took philosophy in the summer session. I learned more from her at Suffolk than I am learning now at a University. She's an amazing teacher who respects different views and understandings of philosophy. She wants you to do well. She encourages you to do extra credit as insurance if you do poorly on an exam. Excellent professor.

Professor Emmachild was very fair and extremely knowledgeable. I thoroughly enjoyed her class and her assignments weren't bad at all. She gave extra credit and used it towards your low test scores. She made me even more interested in Philosophy. Not a class for the LAZY! All in all, she was great and I recommend taking her class!

Awsome Prof. As long as you read the assignments she assign you'll do fine. She gives you at least 10 extra credit assignments to choose from if you want to do them. You can pass the class on extra credits alone! Highly recommended

Best professor at Suffolk. She is my all time favorite. I love her to death. She has taught me so much and is a wonderful woman. I would take every class she teaches. She is wonderful. Take her class you won't regret it. Oh and her attendance policy rocks!

Superb teacher! She inspired me to go to law school. Without her, I may have had no direction when it came to school. Very good class. It does require a lot of note taking, studying and whatnot, but if you do all that you will be fine. Great class.. 100% recommend her.

I love this woman, I have her for Philo. Religion and I had her for Mythology last semester. She's really funny and she's willing to help out if you go to her during office hours. She lives by the textbooks, so make sure you read before class. You can be absent as long as you e-mail her beforehand.

The workload isn't out of control but you definitely have to pay attention and study. Tests are mostly essay questions but she gives out a ton of extra credit assignments to do to keep your grade up. Really nice woman I definitely recommend taking one of her classes

Quite possibly the most interesting professor on long island. She has real life experience to contribute to her lectures. Be sure to do all readings and contribute to the class discussion. Although her opinions on topics are clear, she doesn't suppress anyone's freedom to their own. Very engaging and educational course. She was a pleasure!

Shes a great professor because she is very into her material. She believes in making her students work so don't take if you want an easy A. At times she can be unclear & potentially intimidating but in reality she is a sweet lady. Tests are fairly difficult but she sets you up to pass if you're willing to study. ALOT of extra credit opportunity!

Brilliant professor with interesting lectures. Class revolves around her lectures, but they are not to miss. She says she's retiring soon, so I'd take her as soon as possible. Tests are short answer and not too difficult. There is so much extra credit that if you try you will earn an A in this class.

unfortunately professor emmachild has retired, but she was THE most inspirational professor I have ever gotten the honor of taking. she is an amazing person and professor and I took her for every semester and was lucky enough to have gotten a seat in her gender and the law class which aided me in my decision to become an attorney. great woman.

I had Professor Emmachild at SCCC around 1990. I am glad to see she is comfortably retired and wish her well. For all you punk kids, before the age of "woke" professor Emmachild would introduce concepts not as an ideologue, but as a philosopher.; You were never expected to regurgitate concepts, which might be mistaken for being "difficult".
