she talks so fast...i am an A student who never misses class and i cannot stand it in her class...if you take her you will totally regret it...this is the first teacher i have ever disliked.
wow worst teacher ever, i hate student teachers, she sucks so bad, dont take her totally bombed her midterm and im a good student
I thought this calss would be so interesting, and she makes it not at all. The readings are so ridiculous, and way too hard. Take this class with someone else.
Yes, she didn't really seem to know what she was doing... but if you just go with it and write what she writes on the board then you don't have to do the reading. She gives you a good study guide and if you actually cut her a break you'll do fine in the class. It's an EASY A if you cut her some slack. She's probably much better this year.
Pop culture just sounds like fun so it wasn't what I expected; she picks topics that are counter-culture, not mainstream. I hated the first few weeks but if you go to the lectures you don't need to do any reading. She basically gives you exactly what you'll be tested on. I hardly read at all and got an 'A'.
I think she is pretty nice. She tries to get class involved in discussion. Her tests are fair, and if you go to lecture every day, the tests are easy. she lets us out early usually too
I enjoyed this class. Falero has a passion for TV & brings a fresh perspective to the topic. Not extremely hard, but attendance IS important. The class materials (great variety, by the way)are each useful in understanding the others. There IS a bit of work involved in the papers. She encourages discussion and is always available for help.
Go to class, take notes from the lectures, and you will do just fine. She is very approachable and helpful if you have any questions.
The material is interesting so class never gets boring. There arent many classes where u discuss CURRENT stuff so overall its alright. We discuss everything from ads, rap music, & TV shows (that we get to watch sometimes). Falero seems a little shy, but cool, & she gives good study guides. Attendance is taken almost every day so dont miss 2 much
Man, she is anal. the material doesnt seem hard, but she confuses some students. She should only teach AFTER she gets her masters degree. Also, I visited her during office hours, it was useless. She told me what I already know and she's stingy on her candy jar. I felt unwelcomed. She looks like the nerd from scooby doo. She's very mischevious.

The last person who commented negatively obviously was a big time slacker. The class is interesting and she uses many forms of media (movies, music videos, songs). The instructor is effective, but many of the students are so uninterested. When they get the bad grades, they blame the teacher. How lame is that?
She is an amazing teacher. There's a midterm, final, and research paper. She gives a workshop before each one, and a study guide. There's no surprises on the exams. She touches on almost all apects on Pop Culture...I learned a lot in her class! =D
She's very informative . Her class gets more difficult when it's test time or research paper time. I got near perfect scores on my tests and papers. All you have to do is go visit her at her office hours and she'll help you out. And yeah, she's a nerd, but a hot nerd. I'd say a cross between Amelie and Lisa Loeb.
i never even opened the book except as a source for the paper (because she makes you use it). i failed the midterm, but aced the research paper and final and got a B in the class because she gives extra credit for marked improvement from midterm to final grades. just make sure you email her and remind her how much you improved between exams
Need to attend class to get a good grade, but everything on the tests is from lecture so take detailed notes. Gives exam questions a week before the tests so no excuses to get a passing grade. Interesting material, but some of the readings are a bit boring but she explains them in lecture. Nice tacher but attendance is very Important!
I thoroughly enjoyed this class and Ms. Falero is an excellent teacher. You get to watch lots of TV and answer fun and thought provoking questions. She had a good selection of programs to show in class and did a good job orchestrating class discussion. Attendance and participation is a good part of your grade - show up and join the discussions.
This class was very very interesting. The reading were a little boring, but you should do them anyways they help a lot when it comes to the midterm (all essay) Attendance is very very important, a lot of background information she covers in lecture, and is not in any of the reading material. One term paper~7pgs
this class is really hard. you have to be there every time. its like high school all over again, she even takes attendence. you have to read everyday and a lot, plus the course required like 4 books. the exams are ok as long as you read. and there are no make ups at all or extra credit.
Very Good Teacher. She Makes Class Interesting. We learn about gangster rap... how cool is that! There's a midterm, term paper and final. Midterm and Final are essay form but she gives questions out ahead of time. You have to go to class or else you won't do well on the tests. Theres alot from lecture on the exams. Great instructor, take her class!
i didnt like her the first time i took her... she seemed unfair. but the second time in another class, she was much better. very interesting material, and she shows lots of interest and knowledge too, which makes it better.
she talks too fast, her tets and papers are all based on her lectures and books, she grades the tests and papers very hard, the littlest details will screw you over, i worked my ass off in her class and got a B
I think her lectures are interesting but the required reading for the class is ridiculous. only a few members of the class would participate in her disscussions because I don't think many could keep up with her required readings in order to participate. But she definately knows what she is talking about and you do learn in her class.
her class is really great. i keep seeing that people think that there is too much reading, but it's not a lot. it's all necessary and they must not read a lot, b/c that's not a lot. she grades fair, the subject matter is awesome and her assignments are ridiculously easy. the class is really and i recommend that everyone takes it.
Professor Falero is a good teacher. She tells you want she wants from you and is open to talking about the material in class and is open during her office hours all the time for you. I would take her again for another class if I could.
I didn't think someone could make an interesting subject so not interesting. Sitting in her class is like pulling teeth. She grades very hard even though you have been to every class and have read everything you still won't get a good grade, she expects way too much. She even made the subject of rap music boring. She gets too technical, she needs t
Great teacher. She is very clear about what she is teaching and what she expects. If you go to class and do the readings it is very easy to get good grades. She is engaging and made sitting in class for several hours pleasant. I simply did what was required, didn't go above and beyond, and still got an A.
Awesome teacher, fair and helpful. Really down to Earth and makes the subject interesting. Reccommended.
there are two midterms, which are fair and easy, and a couple extremely easy assignments. Very easy and fun class. Plus you analyze all sorts of interesting pop-culture topics like gangster films and TV shows. Def. recommend.
Nice professor. There's a couple simple assignments. Make sure you do them because it just might save your grade. Watch out for essay tests in this class though. No textbook needed which saves you money.
Falero def. knows her stuff. She will make you think! Someone mentioned she was too technical - it's bc she is teaching an upper div class and expects this level of understanding from students! she includes lots of outside materials in the class and puts reading on Bb so you don't have to buy text. Def recommend: fun class, fair tests, min. HW
Very fun class. She is young and funny and relates the material well. There is a lot of reading on BB, but reading half of it got me an A. We watched quite a bit of movies in class, which is always fun. She is definitely one of my favorite teachers.
Hot, hot, hot and the class was amazing. Definitely taking any class she is teaching.
Falero is superwoman. Her class is probably one of the most relateable classes. No textbooks just pdf articles. Just glance over them. She speaks fast so make sure you type/take notes quick. All you need for an A is to show up EVERY class and take good notes. Her exams(essays) are off the notes. Easy class with a GREAT professor.
One of the coolest professors I have had at CSUF. Her class is super fun! Tests are based off notes, she only gives quizzes if she feels the need to. Make sure you do your reading, just PDFs no book. Loved this class! Worth it!
Great professor.Course can be challenging if you aren't familiar with the concepts she talks about, but she's super accessible and willing to clarify anything.
If you attend the lectures regularly, you will only need the textbooks to use as sources for the final research paper (8-10 pages). Fun class. Dr. Falero brings great energy and enthusiasm to the subject.
she went on maternity leave after the first month and came back the last two weeks. Sub was awful but definitely a push over so you could get away without reading and grading with him was EXTREMELY easy.I got an A on midterm but when falero graded my final I got a 77.i was 5 points always from an A but got a B. she doesn't believe in + or - rip off
This class can be a bit dull, and the textbook is extremely boring. The videos Dr. Falero picks are really good, though, and she seems like a nice woman. She doesn't really connect with the class, however. She doesn't leave much time for discussion about what we learn, and I never felt I got to know her as a human with opinions/a personality.
Falero was a decent teacher. not a lot of effort for a B. I never read anything the course was just mostly common sense and opinons. there were 2 papers, and the midterm and final. she does take attandence every class. if you need it for a G.E I would take her. It was literally like 50% effort for B, if I read and tried harder coulda got an A
Prof. Falero knows her subject well. I do recommend this class if you are into history. There is tons of reading every week, attendance and participation is mandatory. I read the book for the first 4 weeks, and then used lecture notes because reading was absolutely boring and taking too many hours. There are 2 exams which are short essay questions.
Professor Falero is the hardest professor I've taken but she's also the nicest. She was very enthusiastic about the material and prepared us well. Plus if you like curvy latin women she's not bad on the eyes.
She is smart and very organized. She is nice and wants her students to participate. Exams are short essay questions that are mostly based on the notes and lectures. She provides a study guide with 10 exam questions and she chooses 5 to be on the exams. I recommend her.
Dr. Falero really knows her material. She answers questions spot on, but also expects you to dot he reading ahead of class to participate. The class is really contemporary and interesting, so the reading doesn't seem like too much of a workload.
Good instructor, really knows the material and is clear during lectures. Does speak a little fast so pay very close attention otherwise you might miss an important point. Take very good notes, show up to class, and participate and you will have no trouble passing.
I took her in my last semester before I graduated, and I can honestly say that this was the easiest class I have ever taken. If you fail then you have no one to blame but yourself.
She is a good professor. Show up to class and read the readings and you should pass. I may say that she does grade hard and is very picky on detail so beware.
she reads straight from her notes, & she reads it very fast. hard to follow through honestly and when you ask her a question, she's not to great of a help. (would no recommend if you're taking it for a GE) not sure how she is in her other class but this class was definitely a tough one. interesting but had a hard time following up with the lectures
Dr. Falero took over my online class for Dr. Suarez halfway through the semester. Overall, she was a pretty easy grader and was easy to reach via email. (Which is really important when taking an online class!) I would take another class with her!
Dr. Falero is a really cool teacher and she knows what she is talking about, honestly no need to do the readings. Just pay attention in class and you'll do fine. Very few assignments .
Dr. Falero is one of of my best professor at CSUF. Few assignments, midterm and final and that's sit. No quizzes and no papers just do the weekly reading and take notes. I heard other classmates that they skip the reading and took notes only, however, l did the reading and took lecture notes and ended up with A. I would definitely take her again.
TBH probably one of the easiest upper division GEs you can ever take. Falero is a great teacher and lectures are interesting! I will warn you though 70% of your grade is the final and midterm. The rest is participation (she is strict on) and 3 easy assignments. I got a B barely reading or paying attention. She is extremely helpful if you ask!
Dr. Falero is a great teacher. Very organized, and clear expectations. ONline class was great! 3 writing assignments, discussion question every week, a midterm + final which are also a writing assignment. She expects clear ideas college level writing skills
The subject is super interesting so take the time to actually learn about it! She's very clear on what she expects and you have a lot of time to prepare for the final. Take this class!
Such and awesome professor. One of the best American Studies courses I have taken. Her classes are very organized and well structured. I highly recommend her.
Chill professor, interesting class. Only assigned 2 one page written assignments, 3 written reading responses and one final project of your choosing (various options, including 8-12 page paper) that you must present. Puts up lectures online, but takes attendance. Overall if you enjoy TV and get your work done, you should get a good grade.
Dr. Falero's AMST 300 class was so interesting! The class content was fun and modern, and learning about the historical roots of pop culture was very informative. I would highly recommend Dr. Falero and her AMST 300 class to anyone.
Seriously, this class is so fun and interesting. We talk about interesting topics and watch a tv episode each class meeting. 1 short 2 page paper. 1 midterm (get questions a week in advance). 1 fandom project(can be art). 1 8-10 page paper about a tv series. She's super smart and class was enjoyable. Take her!
This class is organized well and everything that is due is explained well. This is honestly one of the easiest online classes I've ever taken. Dr. Falero's lectures are so informative and interesting. You have 5 mandatory discussion boards to answer, and around 4 writing assignments that are most 3 pages. Nothing difficult, just skim readings.
This professor expects WAY too much out of a 101 class. I took this class just because I needed the extra units to graduate and she managed to make it very tough. Her lectures are super long and boring. She expects too much for her written assignments even though it is a 101 class. Would not take her again.
This class requires more work than my 300 and 400 level courses. I'm only taking this as an elective, and I understand there is still going to be work, but wow. My advice is to take a different class. She's a nice professor but the work is ridiculous for a 100 level class. I think this is her 1st one and she can't separate it from her 300+ ones.
Not a lot of assignments but grades papers way too hard for a 100-level course and doesn't give feedback on why you received a grade
Was one of the easiest classes I took. No tests or homework, 2 research papers, and a final with short answer questions (she gives you the questions before hand, and you can email her a rough draft). participation is graded on watching lectures every week. She is very passionate and caring. gives great feedback when you ask.
There are 2 major papers, the final is easy you just have to study. The course was simple, watch a lecture video every week and youre required to watch them. Overall pretty simple and straightforward class.
One of the most organized professors I have ever taken. Professor Falero gives very insightful and useful knowledge. She always wants to hear back from her students and she wants them to succeed. I would definitely would take her class again.
This class was not worth it at all. I took this online as a GE and although there are no test or quizzes she makes up for it by giving out boring lectures and papers. The work in this class is much beyond a normal 100 class and I would not advise to take this class, PICK ANOTHER GE CLASS!
I took Professor Falero's online AMST 101 class and honestly, it was hard for a 101 class. Her grading was based on a few papers. Her grading was also pretty hard and lecture videos were really long. Took a while to grad assignments as well with not much feedback. No tests and quizzes, but papers were long and hard. Wouldn't take again.
This is genuinely the worst class I have ever taken. She is very very strict when it comes to citations and formatting if you mess up citations you will fail the assignment no matter how hard you work. She doesn't give much feedback for essays. There is a final paper that is absolutely confusing broad. Please take another GE please.
Her shows she used were very good. Her lectures were easy to get through. Lots of reading to do, but not much actual work. Easy to talk to and very nice and understanding. Would take again
This young professor is an amateur, I dont know who let this lady be a professor at a university. Shes the one teacher in high school that nobody likes, super strict and doesnt care for her students success whatsoever. The assignments werent hard, but she marks down big points for the smallest things which, at the end will ruin you. Good luck
Professor Falero is great, she teaches AMST101 very well. Her powerpoints, lectures, and videos are all very interesting. She expects a lot of participation from her students so get ready for that. She does require a lot of reading and the papers can get pretty confusing, but she is willing to help if you have questions. 7/10 class
Wasnt the best. I guess Im at fault to due to family issues. A few assignments but a 8-10 pg final. Would not recommend if you dont like writing. Also have to get the right evidence or else get knocked down very badly grade wise. A lot of readings like two each week and its a lot of pages. The class I worried about the most final wise.
A ton of writing, but its only for major assignments. If you dont do them last minute and ask her for feedback youll be fine.
I took AMST 345 over the Fall. Fully online and asynch. The course is only graded by a few things, writing assignments, discussion boards, cultural analysis, and final term paper. You only get credit if you watch the lecture, but it is extremely easy. I would recommend Dr. Falero for this course!
A very straight to the point professor. There were no quizzes, only papers and discussion boards She was fine. Nothing to run home about but nothing to complain about either. I would take her again. My only slight complaint is that she took a long time to grade things. And since we are only graded by like 6 assignments it was anxiety inducing
Awesome professor. She is a fairly easy grader when it came to the papers. This was an online course so watching the lectures in their entirety was one of the main things she looked for. Regardless her instructions and expectations were clear and easy to follow.
If you don't like writing don't take this class. no quizzes and tests but only essays and papers
Weekly lectures MUST WATCH 75% OF IT. At least 5 discussion posts throughout semester (easy to meet requirement). One final paper - overall easy to manage class unless you forget about it.
She does not assign many assignments, which is true, but her assignments are very lengthy. A bunch of long essays. if you don't like writing i would not take this class
She grades fairly and is clear in the instructions. She also provides examples for the assignments which is really helpful and appreciated. That really made it more easier to understand what she wanted in the papers. There are no quizzes or exams, but it is mainly all writing such as papers and discussion posts. There is a lot of reading too.
Great instructor. She's straightforward about what she expects. Lectures can be long, but the assignments and participation matter. Final paper was a required 8 pages and you only had to post 5 times for the discussions posts.
Great discussion class on the subject if you would like to talk or ask questions in class. Great to go along and learn with lectures.
If you need to fulfill a GE course, take her!!! She is super nice and is always willing to help if you're unsure about something. Lectures are long but you need to watch them in order to get attendance points. Not much homework. 5 discussions only. No quizzes.
Not much homework. But the homework that is assigned felt excessively complex for a 100-level class. Writing assignments require you to conduct interviews, and the final paper is 8 pages. The lectures are interesting, but the writing assignments ruined it for me and in my case were more of a stressor than an effective learning tool.
Amazing professor, great lectures! I took the class for a GE, but she made me care about the class. I want to take more of her classes just for fun.
Test heavy, no other assignments but discussion boards. She does one every week, but you only have to do 5 for full credit the entire semester. Her exams are papers pretty lengthy but its an easy class. Lectures are long recorded and posted you must view for credit participation of the week. Its a very organized class not much to it.
She's an okay professor. There are many articles/prompts to read, along with lecture videos that can last up to three hours. About 4-5 writing assignments make up the whole grade. She isn't picky about grading overall, following the format she provides. 5 discussions but you can spread them out during the 5 weeks. there is extra credit, use it!
This class was super interesting. There are a few writing assignments spread out through the semester but they aren't that bad. The midterm and final both are 3 written prompts, one essay prompt (500 words) and 2 short answers.
The readings are a lot- anywhere from 10-20 pages, and you have 2 or 3 PDFs given per week. The midterm and finals require you to watch and read all of them, so jump to the assignment pages for those tests and be selective on what you need to read if you don't have time to do all that work. Take notes, the class is super informative so enjoy it.
professor falero is my mother
She doesn't grade very hard just get to the point. Discussion posts weekly for attendance (mandatory). Always gave good feedback on every essay. She has an extra credit that WILL boost your grade if you do bad on essays/exams.
Participation and attendance based off viewing lecture videos (around an hour) + discussion posts. Don't need to do all the posts, but need to view all the lectures for for attendance. Very clear about assignment/grading guidelines. Grades are just 2 papers + midterm and final paper + attendance/participation. Gives EC. Easy class, good professor.
(Spring 2025) This class took more time than I expected. You must watch all lectures & participate in 5 discussion boards total. The midterm includes defining key terms & a short essay. There's also an interview assignment, & the final essay requires at least 8 pgs. I dont really recommend this class if ur not an AMST major, but the prof is cool
