Forgets its a 150 class and that some people haven't had it since highschool

such a sweet lady, very willing to help and likes to sing shakira songs
such a sweet lady, always willing to help, recommend her highly, loved the class
She is great! Very nice and willing to help you out. If you are bad in spanish she will do anything to have you get a good grade. If you are good in spanish it is still fast past enough to keep you intersted!
Very energetic. Fast pace class, but she makes it fun
Great prof who knows her stuff. Very willing and understands that we are all new at learning. Lots of homework and lab work but worth it. She makes the class fun!
Cuter than a button! Such a great, social class! She loves teaching Spanish!
The class was difficult, but Sandra was willing to go the extra mile to help all of her students. And she kept us laughing, she's a fun prof.

I loved her class.. She made it fun, and make time fly by. If you come to class, you'll do very well.
Very nice, energetic, and willing to help. I suck at spanish and with her help I got a B. One of the best teachers I've had at GVSU!
I Hate spanish, but she was so helpful. She would work with you and help you if you had any questions Great professor!!
I loved this class. Never thought I'd be in spanish after high school. Such a great professor. Always willing to help. Easy class too- good refresher! Take her- you won't regret it!!!
Great prof, makes sure everyone understands, makes you speak so you get practice. Keeps class moving, not boring. Definitely recommend!
Really good prof. She covers material quickley but she makes it fun. If you are unclear...just ask her!
I took her my 1st yr when I was a Freshman and she was very nice, easy going, flexible, very helpful, a wonderful prof. I wish she did higher levels.
She is the best prof if you are new to the language. she is so sweet and patient. I took SPA in high school but didn't have a good teacher so I was nervous to take this class in college, but Sandra made it really enjoyable! And she's as cute as a button!

She is one of the nicest teachers I have had. Even if you've never had an ounce of Spanish in your life you will still have no trouble learning it in her class. She is very helpful and understands how hard it is to learn a new launguage. (FYI: She is from Columbia and has lived here for six years.)
I thought she was an awesome teacher. I never took spanish before this but she explained everything from the book. In class we also did a lot of activities related to what we are learning. She makes it easy to learn and fun.
Really great professor. Very helpful.
She's an awesome teacher and made class fun! Take her! However there is a lot of homework and projects and workbook, but the tests are fair and if you study and go to class you'll do good. She's allways willing to help. Super nice - Cool Teacher!!
Great teacher. Class is very fun and test are fair. It is a lot of work but easy if you go to class.
Great Professor!! She was always willing to help you with any questions. Took time outside of class to make things clear. Shes also really cute! I recomend this prof!
She is a great teacher. Participation is a must for her. It's not hard, just speak up in class. She makes you speak Spanish in her class-no English. It requires some work, but she lets you drop your lowest grade in almost anything that you do: test, workbook, etc. Just work and you'll get an A.
HORRIBLE!!!.. for a 101 she is not helpful at all.. makes you feel stupid in class.. makes you do projects that 300 level classes are not even doing! DO NOT TAKE HER!
Sandra is a very nice person, and she is willing to help her students outside of class. However, if you are completely new to the language, it is difficult to understand her. She speaks only Spanish in class and expects the same of her students--even newbies. I don't recommend her for a 101 class, but I think she'd be good at a higher level.
She's not a bad teacher, but no the best either. Before all of our tests she would show up to class, give us a review sheet which didn't really help and then leave and told us to come to her office if we needed help. I felt like she started to get lazy at the end of the semester by not really trying to teach as well as she did in the beinning of sem
She is really nice, and pretty helpful. She speaks no English in class, and expects you to speak Spanish as well. She teaches well, but doesn't help before tests. However, the online homework is really easy because answers are in the textbook, and the tests are easy if you study the grammar and vocab sections out of the textbook
Quizzes and tests are alright if you study, expect to write a lot and know vocab well. The more classes you attend, the better you'll do (same with the homework). She's very approachable, just be nice, her English isn't perfect, but neither is your Spanish if you're taking this class. Understand that and you'll work just fine with her.
The class subject is pretty hard, she does do her best to make it easier for you though. Lots of group practice, but Idk if that really helps much. Very approachable if you have questions, tries to use technology but she's not quiet a master at them yet. Tests are written, no multiple choices! And the end of semester video sucks, start on it early!
LOTS of online exercises required! Time consuming and hard to keep up with the work. There is a lot of material covered in a short time. Good teacher though.
I was a bit worried at first, because she only speaks Spanish in class, but I got used to it after awhile. Tons of online "homeworks" but you get graded for doing them, not how well you do on them. Very nice teacher overall.
She is a easy grader on the exams and projects. Homework is credit no-credit. She is a nice lady, however I found this class not helpful. No notes are taken just hand-outs everyday in class. She makes you grade yourself on attendence.
Overall pretty good teacher. Speaks in Spanish almost always, but is very flexible in scheduling and makes sure the class understands before moving on. A lot of online homework but it helps to understand and practice the topics. She tells stories about the culture difference which makes for a funny moment. Very very helpful!
Awesome Prof! She kept the class reasonably easy, there was a lot of online homework, which was a pain, but it was doable. She's always willing to help, and I thought that it helped my spanish a lot when she spoke all in spanish during class. The final project was a pain though. Everyone should take her, she's awesome!
Crazy amount of online homework, and crazy amount of in class handouts. She really believes in practice, not sitting there and taking notes. I would definitely recommend her as I am very happy to have had her.
I really enjoyed her class and learned so much! She speaks Spanish a majority of the class which is hard at first, but definately pays off in the end. A lot of online homework and in-class handouts, but it really helps improve your skills with all of the practice. Pretty easy class if you put in some effort!
She is a great professor. She helps anytime she gets and always keep going over material if not understood. She also uses a participation sheet in which you score yourself and homework isn't bad just remember to do it because its usually online! 1 group project, 4 quizzes, a final, and one paper :)
Fernandez is a great professor. There is a lot of busy work, but it helps with learning spanish a lot. Her class has a lot of participation and online homework, so it's easy to maintain a good grade. Her exams are pretty easy if you study. The only thing I didn't like was she didn't review for the midterm or final as much as she should of.Take her!
I really liked her class. The fact that she is from a Spanish speaking country really helps. She's very helpful and can actually be pretty funny sometimes. Go to class, do the homework, pay attention, and speak Spanish in class and you'll do fine.
She gives homework every night, but it's assigned at the beginning of the year so you can get ahead. Really great with explaining things, and getting studts involved. Her tests are easy if you pay attention in class. If you're looking to really learn Spanish and get a good grade, take her! You'll love it!
Sandra is a GREAT Spanish professor and I only wish she were teaching the next level of the class. She came here from Colombia so really knows her stuff and she's great at conveying it to students, too. She's understanding and is helpful during office hours. You'll have to put forth effort to get a good grade, but I definitely recommend her!
Fernandez is a great teacher! She really cares about how you do in the class and wants to see you do well. She's from Colombia so her spanish sounds really good. She actually cares about pronunciation too, something my other teachers never stressed on. I definitely recommend Fernandez.
I am not a fan of Spanish and was really scared after her introduction/syllabus to this class.Im glad I didnt drop it though because it really is SO hard to do poorly. She is so nice and helpful when you actually make an effort in class.Easy tests/assignments and overall a GREAT Spanish teacher!Highly recommended.
Excellent teacher! At first, she came off somewhat intimidating, but she is really nice! Very helpful, too. She is from columbia so she has a bit of an accent, but it is not bad at all! There are plenty of assignments which helps boost your grade. The exams are fairly short & not too hard. Definitely take her!
Professor Fernandez is awesome! She wants everyone to participate and she can speak really fast in Spanish, but she always repeats and rewords things to make it easier. Do the homework assigned and prepare for class and you can easily get an A. Never be afraid to ask questions and try to always speak in Spanish! Her class is always fun!
Great professor, traveled to the US to teach. She appreciates the use of Spanish, and has a lot of easy online homework. In class assignments were interesting. My prior knowledge of Spanish definitely helped to pass the 201 class as well.
Senora Tardani was amazing! Make sure you do online assignments, homework, and bookwork - she does check! Overall a wonderful professor and most definitely helped with my Spanish. Will miss her next year!
She was super helpful and wanted you to learn Spanish in a fun and intresting way! I loved her and definetly RECOMMEND her! She is an easy grader and is willing to help you even if you don't ask. She wants you to make mistakes so you can learn. I loved this class and wish I had her again. It is an easy A if you do your homework and pay attention :)
I thought Sandra was an excellent teacher. Everything you do in class pertains to what you're learning and what you'll be tested on. Many out of class projects, but that is to be expected of language courses. Spanish is to be spoken at all times, but will help you out in English if you ask for it. Very nice lady! Attendance is graded.
When I first met Professor Tardani, I was very intimidated. She turned out to be a fantastic professor. She expects you to be there and do your work. There was a group project but it was simple and fun. You have to show up and do your work and you will do well on the tests. Her class is out of like 1000 points so you have room to make mistakes.
GO TO CLASS. Skipping isn't an option- she takes out a lot of points for skipping. She's easier to understand when she speaks Spanish than when she speaks English. No homework ever besides VISTAS. A couple tests, one presentation, and one group project. She's really nice and funny. Not a bad class.
Lots of different projects and activities, but she is an easy grader. Speaks in Spanish the whole time. Online homework each weak but it is only graded on whether or not you did it. A couple of tests throughout the semester - but again, she's an easy grader. She grades hard on attendance - so go to class.
Sandra was an amazing professor! she's very well respected and i look forward to taking another one of her classes! She wants her students to succeed and will give you the attention necessary to do so. make sure you do your online weekly homework. Such a sweet lady!
Sandra Liliana Fernandez-Tardani was incredible! She made learning a foreign language interesting and easy. The final project was very simple, instead of a difficult test. The tests in class were very easy. The group work wasn't hard. Everything was great.
Sandra was awesome! she spoke mostly in spanish, but repeated herself often to make sure everyone understood. lots of speaking with partners in the class which kept it fun. weekly online homework was pretty easy. she is a fair grader. extra credit is offered on every exam. only a final project- no cumulative exam
Fernandez is nice and wants her students to learn, but takes the "immersion" approach and talks in Spanish about 97% of the time so it's pretty much sink of swim. I honestly didn't understand her most of the time and ended up having to wing it. There is a lot of online homework and a few group projects. I suggest digging out your old spanish notes.
Sandra Liliana Fernandez-Tardani is an amazing prof. I had her for SPA 150 and 201 and both classes are well-organized, well-taught, and make learning Spanish an easy task. The group project is super easy and fun. The homework is minimal. However, attendance is mandatory and that can be tough at 8 or 9 am four days a week.
I've taken Sandra both semesters this year and I love her. You do get weekly points for attendance, so try not to make skipping a habit. You can tell she's passionate about teaching Spanish. In this course she speaks mostly Spanish most of the time so you have to make sure you pay attention, its easy to get lost.
Profesora Fernandez es estupendo. She has a clear set of guidelines for grades, and is very helpful outside of class. The only con I have is that attendance in the class is mandatory and you lose a significant amount of points if you do not show up. Overall, great professor.
Professor Fernandez is amazing! She is very understanding, kind, and does not take herself too seriously. Her class is not super difficult; if you study, participate occasionally you will be fine. There are 2 projects (creating a comic book and short video) - very straightforward and enjoyable. I would recommend her for anyone.
Comes of intimidating at first but she is super nice and is an amazing professor to learn from as she is from Columbia. If you never skip a day of class and you do all of the online homework you will definitely get an A.
Sandra is an incredible professor and is very passionate about Spanish. She does come off as intimidating but really nice and wants you to succeed. Attendance is a huge part of her class and you get points for coming to class. Her class is spoken in Spanish, this will get easier with time. Overall, amazing professor and cares about her classes.
Prof Fernandez is great! shes funny and is great at helping students learn! everything is very straight forward and she uses blackboard a lot which is very helpful!
I loved taking Professor Fernandez. At first, she was intimidating and difficult to understand due to her strong accent. However, as the semester went on you get to see her real self and she is so funny and you get used to the accent. She is very understanding and an easy grader, as well. Homework wasn't bad and she always tells you what is due.
Attendance is required by the prof, but not to succeed. I learn little to nothing in class, with the bulk of my learning happening with the online hw provided by the book. Even when school was shut down for a week the hw was still due, she expected us to know the entire chapter without a day of class to help, just the book and ourselves to read it
I hate SPA150 because of oral group work (and the fact that 90 percent of the people in it speak like they're still in SPA101), but the professor herself is a solid choice. Has very clear-cut expectations and no-nonsense classroom policies, so if you don't follow them and get a bad grade that's on you. Good choice if you remember a lot of Spanish.
I love her and will take her as long as I can. You have to go to class and try, which is what you signed up for so its all on you. She does an amazing job and makes learning Spanish fun and easy. Highly recommend
I highly recommend Professor Fernandez! She is a professor that wants you to learn and care that you do. She is very nice and will help you if you ask. One of my favorite professors by far.
Sandra is such a nice person who is very passionate about teaching Spanish. The class is pretty easy as long as you show up, do the homework, and participate during class. She really wants her students to succeed and makes learning a new language enjoyable. 100 percent would recommend taking her!!
Avoid her at all costs. She assigns tons of online work through apps/sites she doesn't understand how to use which will make your assignments very time consuming. She assigns a 10 daily assignments and doesn't grade them but backs it up with daily quizzes/videos/projects. If you value any free time or have more than 2 classes, do no take this prof.
She is one of the sweetest professors! When I was in quarantine, she was always checking in and asking how I was doing. She assigns a fair amount of work and attendance is mandatory if you want to succeed. Some directions are a bit confusing, but she is approachable with any questions! Her class is also extremely organized!
There is a lot of homework but it's all pretty easy and can be done pretty quickly. Tests every two weeks which aren't very hard if you've been doing the homework. She only speaks in Spanish, which was intimidating at first but doesn't end up being a big deal.
Sandra is super nice, but there is a lot of homework for her class. We had to do 5 activities per day (even if we didn't have class). It was a lot of homework and it seemed like we had an exam or quiz every week. Although there was a lot of work she is really nice, and it's not difficult just time-consuming. Great prof though --just a lot of work.
This class is taught 100% in Spanish, not recommended for beginner Spanish speakers. Prof gives too much homework, I spent at least 5 hours a week on homework, not including projects and test studying. She teaches by sending you videos and lecture time is basically wasted because you learn nothing, but it's mandatory for the great. Not recommended
This professor really makes you work for the grade. You cover a chapter every week and have a chapter test every Monday. Her lectures aren't the greatest and she gives A LOT OF HOMEWORK AND PROJECTS. Overall, it's doable if you have the motivation for all the work. I feel like I didn't really learn much from her though, a very self-taught class.
Sandra was no Bueno; she makes you work hard for that A. This class was so time-consuming and assigned so much work.
Sandra formatted her class based on the online work. Our lectures were very brief which left us to get our information from the online resource. Exams were not too bad, they were very heavy on textbook reading. Group work is prominent in this class along with small group projects. Sandra does prescribe a significant amount of homework, 5 a night.
She was alright, not really the best. We would go over chapters learning about so many things, then when you take the test. There is only one section on the exam that covered a section of what we learned rest is sentence written
Professor Fernandez is a good professor, but her blackboard page is ALL over the place. It's not organized and I spent so much time at the beginning of the semester trying to figure out where everything goes. There's a lot of homework, but it's not super difficult or time consuming. Spanish is her first language so she is very official!
Sandra is a very kind person, just not a very good professor. She speaks entirely in Spanish and expects you to understand everything she is saying. She will call on "victimas" when asking questions. Has an attendance sheet and WILL know when you miss class. Not very understanding. A LOT of HW- 20 assignments a week. Final is a group project.
She assigns a lot of work about 5 assignments a day. Everything is in Spanish, says textbook is "optional" before taking the class but is then required. Textbook is $167.
I did the Hybrid. Very weird class. Prof is very nice but didn't teach a whole lot. we only did practice. AMAZING feedback on quizzes filled my whole paper up even though I got an A on every quiz. Since its 201 she speaks only in Spanish and so that can be tough. I wouldn't take her again only because of how the class was ran. Other than that eh...
Sandra was a very kind and qualified professor, but she was definitely tough. She makes every student rate themselves on homework, attendance, and participation every week during the hybrid. The class is Spanish-only, although you can get away with using English every now and then. I was personally unsure about my Spanish level, but I still passed.
Professor Fernandez is extremely kind and patient with everyone. There was homework everyday and you definitely have to pay attention in class because she does cold call people! Overall it is an easy class if you at least put in the effort!
She speaks in spanish the whole class time which seems scary as a beginner, but it helped me a lot. She was able to make jokes and do fun things with the class, but does not like when anyone talks when she is talking.
Professor Fernandez was the best spanish professor I could have asked for. I am a junior now and have not taken spanish since sophomore year of high school. Because of the way that she taught, I was able to fully keep up with the class. Her lectures were always engaging and I genuinely came to class excited to learn.
