She doesn't make it easy...but you might learn a thing or two..be prepared to spend ALOT of time outside lecture p.s. you can highlight the words in the book as they come out of her mouth:) not the worst...or the best, kinda mid-grade

You need to spend a lot of time outside of lecture. My best advice is to study the book, word for word and you'll get an A (don't worry too much about the notes). DEFINITELY print out the practice tests on the CD rom (they're very helpful). Good luck!

I took her 'Biology and Environment' class. It was pretty straight-forward.. just take notes and study them. She gave helpful study guides taught me good lessons.

She really is a good teacher. Sure you have to study, but eberything that is on the review sheet is in your notes...no surprises. I loved her, and her bows!!!lol

She is a hard teacher because your whole grade is based on 4 test. She gives out handouts on all the notes. Some thing that helped me alot was the book's study guide because some of the test questions come from there. Not easy teahcer but great professor as long as you keep up with your studing.

This is a great professor.She explains everything very clear, and makes the course interesting.The test she gives you come extrictly from the notes she gives u. I don't even have a book, and i got an A in the class. U do have to study alot, but everything that's on the test u will have on the notes.

Dont listen to bad reviews. She's good. You just need to understand and study the notes she gives u. Tests questions are from the outline notes. Don't take her too early in the morning. She's not a bad person but she talks to you like you're 5 years old. She does give study guides but with like 80,000 questions. Her class isn't too difficult but not very easy either. I'm pretty much an A student and I got a B. I personally would not pick her again.

She is awsome! Her power point presentations are basically are basically a summary of each chapter. She makes good examples of the topics. She's really nice... I would recommend her 100%

Amazing teacher! The subject itself is difficult, yet she manages to explain as much as time will allow in class. She even gives out notes! Just work hard and you'll get the A (I did!). She is great but very difficult. This class requires alot of study time and alot of effort. She is super nice and this class changed me the way I look at the enviorment. Great professor who's lessons are full of energy and interest. We never used the book in class although she says that we should bring it in. I never read it but was still able to pull off A's and B's on the tests. This is possible because she hands out the notes for each lesson and the tests are worded in a way that makes sense. I have no idea why people have rated her as being 'hard'.

I had this professor for Biology I during Fall 2006 for the lecture only. Great teacher, helps out a lot by providing notes for each section, but you HAVE TO READ THE BOOK TO GET an A, 4 real. Attending class and reading notes doesn't cut it. Overall, she's good and really nice, dedicated to help the student pass...I got a B. (doesn't curve though)

Professor Hersh is a great professor. She know the subject very well and knows how to explain it. In order to get an A on the course, just read the chapters. It is not necessary to go to class as long as you read the chapters, tests come straight from the book.

She gives u study questions that do help, & a quiz b4 each test for extra credit points. If you take her, I recommend that you not get there a min late. Very interesting class! The teachers know her material VERY well and is crystal clear when she speaks, BUT her test are VERY hard, and tricky (a little bit to hard) we arent trying to get a Ph.D. in Evironmental science lady, But you actually learn in her class, kinda make you feel like your not in high school, she is very hard on grading

Challenging course but this professor is very good. There are four exams, no extra credit, no nothing. You really have to show up to class, take notes, and read read read the textbook. Very Important. Professor is very willing to help students that put in the effort.

What can I say? This is my second class with Dr. Hersh, and she is at the top of a very short list of the best professors I have had at MDC. Some think her exams are very hard, but in reality she is challenging you to put concepts together. You must develop a solid understanding of all of the material to do well. Put in the work, you will do well.

She is unforgiving and pretends to be nice. She doesn't let you into class if you are late, but then throws it in your face if your not in class. Her test reviews are good though and her test difficulty depends on how well you know the material. But she is not a nice teacher and hard to talk to, as she is very intimidating, as well as deceiving.

AMAZING PROF! I had read how hard she was, but really she expects a lot from her students. I recently took this professor!! She's awesome!! I learned so much in her class. If you're complaining about the difficulty level of her course, or her teaching skills, then you my friend are simply an idiot and are not fit to deal with the Biological sciences...these are entry level courses and Hersh is extremely well versed in these areas...c'mon people!!!

Have her now, love how she teaches. Love how she really knows her stuff, but what I DON'T love is how she doesn't give a day off for us before the exam. She doesn't give an exam review either. She only gives 5 extra credit points per exam. She only have 4 exams, not giving us more opportunity to do better. You will get an A if its your only class.

Th Best biology professor at MDC. She has four very tricky hard exmas and five extra credits for each. Get to her classroom on time because she will lock you out. Suggest that you buy the book and study alot. This class is not easy yet managable.

Best Biology professor I have had in my life, and I really mean it! She teaches in a way that you will get right away. Her tests are hard, but if you study and read the chapters you will do fine. I would read the chapters twice each of them and got an A, but besides the grade, you will learn in this class a lot!
