had her for psych 2, great & inivative professor, incorporates real world situations...very passionate, not too much in class work, great lectures...study for exams, they are no joke! HIGHLY RECOMMEND
No Comments
lecturing and tests were fine however she is EXTREMELY EXTREMELY unhelpful. I went to her with a personal problem and she didn't care AT ALL. She is horrible outside of class and is not compassionate or caring AT ALL.
Lewis is awesome. She's funny, interesting, not hard if you read and keep up, uses films often in class to break things up, offers games for practice, lots of exam review....it was an easy A. "Hey - can you help a sistah out!? Rock on, Prof. L
AWFUL... unhelpful.... she is never EVER present on her ACTUAL office hours. She misses classes often, and looks VERY depressed and unkempt. Don't EVER take her. I wish I could have that semester of my life back.
she is the best professor in the psyc. department i luv as a professor and as a friend. her teaching style is great her test are challenging but its pays in the end......
awesome professor, but don't ever think that she'll cut you any slack.. you have to work hard, but you'll enjoy her class.. she always gives you opportunities to earn bonus points, too.
She's not always fair, but she's funny in class.
Very nice and funny teacher! She makes the class fun and as long as you read the chapters and are present for most of the classes, you will do fine!
although a good percentage received b- and lower on their tests but through the quizzes and extra points should be able to pull a B or better. Study EXactly what she gives notes on IN CLASS. 4 tests bout 3 quizzes, presentation and xtra credit points
She makes class fun! She makes everything clear and she is very helpful. She offers as many bonus point oppurtunies as she can. you can only do good in her class.
good calss, makes lectures interesting and fun, test on the other hand are quite hard, she kinda helpful but not really, overall it was a good class and she was ok,
You can not miss this class, constant random quizzes and she will pick individuals at random to ask for bonus questions. the tests were based strongly in the book and lecture alone was not enough, but she is an interesting lector. fun class but hard.
Prof L is very funny. She gives you a lot of extra credit work to bring your grade up. I started out with an F and got a B in the class. Do all the extra credit you can and go to class all the time. Participate and study for your tests and you'll get an A
Really great teacher. Very funny.
I thought she was an awful professor. She is lazy about her teaching which makes it very hard to pay attention.(Monotone voice, always seems tired and uninterested) Playing videos in the class seems to be her favorite method of teaching.
She only shows 2-3 videos. She is a very helpful professor and is willing to help as long as you go to her office hours. If you study the chapters that are assigned the exams are not that hard. And she also gives enough opportunity to get bonus points. Come prepared and you will do fine.
she is nice & could teach but make sure to read & study and not to fall asleep or get close to anybody because she'll put you on blast in front of the whole class. she is funny.
Extremely hard tests....u cud study for a week and still get a c!!!!
I studied and got over a C on both exams. She is a great instructor.
Prof. Lewis seems like she's out to trick you, especially with her tests. I am an A student and never received higher than a C in her class. I studied both her lecture notes and the book and still got tripped up by her tricky questioning. I am very dissappointed with the class-DONT TAKE HER!!
Well I guess your not an A student anymore...I am getting an A in her class. She is great
Study and go to class. if u have a full load, don't take it if u don't need it. BTW, whoever loves her so much probably kissed A LOT of a**. Not an easy professor but not impossible.
it was an ok class
vey unhelpfull, nasty when asked for help. Tests are imposible. Don't take her if you want somethign better than a C. And it's hard to get a C in her class!!!!
There's no question about Lewis' intelligence but Sh**!!15 pg papers for an elective is absurd. Whoever says she is great is a retarded teacher's pet. BTW, Did you kiss enough a** to last you a lifetime? Lets try to keep this wbbsite honest here!
Just attend her lectures, read the material and you'll be fine. You have a fact sheet and a presentation to do. 4 tests including the final along with 4 quizes and a lot of bonus points. She is sort of ****s but as long as you do your job you will be ok.
very interesting...lots of group work...but very helpful and interesting...loved her class
If you want to get an A, don't take her. Attendence is mandatory, 4 exams, presentation, and a 5 minimum page paper. At first she seems like a nice, easy going lady, but don't be fooled. Not helpful at all, no sympathy or compassion. Once again if you care about your grade,do not take Dr.Lewis.
This class is A LOT OF WORK!!! You have to study hard for the tests and work hard on the project she gives. But you will also learn a lot from her.
Didn't want to help at all, hard tests, makes the tests about her own info, so you don't know if its right. Seemed very **** to me...& if youre in a class of 100, you'll get lost along the way since she doesn't care about you individually. Take with anyone else but her!!!
I got an A if you want to get an A it is very possible. As far as her helping you she is not going to go out of your way if you don't go out of yours first. She is very helpful and wants her student to learn.
All those people who gave her a bad rep were probably those who snuck out of class and wrote a garbage paper. I got a B+ in her class she is a fair grader and even gives you a chance to make up your lowesr test grade
Extremely unhelpful and disinterested in you as a student. I did well in her class but became totally turned off to Psychologists, aren't they supposed to be into people?
This is not an easy class and if you want an A you have to get it. She is very helpful but she will not go out of her way for you if you don't get up and show interest in doing well. All these people who talk bad about her are the lazy ones who think all general classes should be easy. Highly recome
NOT a good teacher at all.Is horrible @ giving notes, quizzes + tests are unfair like as if she wants you to do poorly, seems like she is too involved with her other work.I hate psych after taking her,It's a class were you have to teach yourself bc the teacher is too lazy to teach you properly.Sad huh
I took her class&ended up dropping it. She is a horrible teacher who does not know how to give notes or tests. I tried to arrange a meeting with her about my grade,&she never responded. She is extremely wrapped up in her other work. DON'T TAKE HER!! I worked my a** off in this class&I was failing.
This teacher does not lecture well at all!!Do not listen to the people who rated her good.If you don't believe me go ahead and try to take her.I got a good grade but I had to work my a** off.About half of our class dropped and that should tell you something.

Don't take her unless you want to WORK HARD!!! The paper is easy and the presentation too, but her quises , you even don't know how to study!! And don't ask for help! She's extremly unprofessional outside the classroom.
You people are so LAZYYYY!!! She is an excellent teacher. She will help you as long as you are doing the work, and she can tell by the dumb questions people ask. I got a C because I deserved it. She is far from prejudice, there were more white students in her office receiving help than black. I also took her for another class and got an A.
Teachers like her are the reason why college money is going to waste. Don't take any of her classes; she doesn't know how to lecture, is unfair when it comes to grading, and is cold hearted. One of the worst teachers I've ever had.
This professor is the WORST lecturer I've ever had. She does not care about her students and looks totally upset if you ask her for any assistance. I asked her for clarity on an assignment and she was visibly upset. How can she be a psychologist? the woman does not communicate and she appears to have serious emotional ISSUES!!!
Quizzes are tricky and she's not one of of those helpful professors. In this class, you bave to cracked down and study. She's a tough cookiw with a cold and distant attitude.
Her lectures are hard to follow its like she's never taught the material before. This is one of the classes you have teach yourself. Just be sure to do really good on your fact sheet and poster and go to every class. Attendence really helps your grade its worth about 85 points so even if u dont understand a thing she is talkin about go to class.
She is pretty difficult on tests bc the questions are tricky but as long as you do well on fact sheet and poster she grades decent. The material seems to repeat itself but is not overally difficult.
I wish she would either leave MSU or get fired. She is such a bad teacher. I can't believe tution money is going to waste on teachers like her. She can't lecture, present notes, is unclear, egotistical, and is seemingly not interested in helping students. She never offered my class any help after class hours, ever!
I guess you must be failing her class..however she is very helpful if you seek her help and her lectures are very clear and if you do your reading then you will understand what she is talking about and if you ask her to explain something further she is willing to do so
She is evil!! I worked incredibly hard in this class and came out with a B+. She actually takes pleasure in making her students miserable. Very cold and unapproachable. Her tests are terrible and her lectures are poor. Take anyone but her for this class!!
I did ok eventhough I studied VERY hard. You have four tests and four quizes (all very hard). Good luck getting an A on your fact sheet. In short Dr. Lewis is evil. Her lectures are terrible and she will get mad at you if she has to repeat herself or help you (god forbid she would do her job). She is the worst Professor I have had at MSU.
I do not understand for the life of me why people decide to become teachers if they don't know how to teach, interact, and be supportive of students. By far one of the worst teachers I have ever had.
She was very cold and distant. I had her in a lecture hall, many students. She didn't bother learning anyone's name. She was just rude and unhelpful to everyone. As horrible as it sounds, she seemed to be more willing to help certain ethnicities than others. Certain ethnicities seemed to receive kinder treatment.
I don't know who was worse, her or her teaching assistant. You can tell they were both in favor of a certain race, and just gave you attitude any chance they got. Horrible class..dont take.
i thought she was great professor. i learned a lot from her in this class. if you work hard, she'll know and reward you for it. she's really fair and straightforward and takes being a professor seriously, unlike some other professors i've had. she especially loves it when you participate, and she's actually pretty good with names.
take at your own risk. this class should have notes ! she gives no notes, it's not easy at all.
I think Prof. Lewis is great. She is very knowledgable about the subject. Explains well and gives minimal notes. She gives 3 exams which at the end of semster you can drop one. One paper and one oral presentation on interesting topics related to psychology. She also gives tons of extra credit points. DONT MISS ANY OF HER CLASSES.
Like the commentors at the bottom, she did seem keenly interested in only one race/ethnicity. I was afraid to ask her or her assistant questions after class, because they would both give me the worst attitudes by either rolling their eyes or looking at me like i was crazy/stupid.
Lewis seems like one of those teachers that is out to GET her students. She prob.LOVES grading an F test. I'm a psych major and I'm PO'd at the fact that I'll prob b gettin a C in her class. I haven't seeked her help and I feel that it would be pointless to. I got a 57 on a test n I NEVER get "F"s! Don't take her unless this is your ONLY CHOICE!NO!
Just took her for summer course and she was nothing like those other reviews. She gave good notes, very detailed with lots of examples, which helped with the tests. She always offered extra help. The bonus points really do help, as long as you pay attention and do the required work, they raised me up a whole letter grade. I would deff take her again
No lie, I loved prof. Lewis. She is the best summer course professor I have ever had. She explains the material extremely well and CAN BE A HUGE help, extra credit especially. I'm a math major and found the cl**** easy as pie, so if you PSYC majors are complaining, I hate to tell you, but it's not all the teacher.
Prof. Lewis is the best, i hate to disappoint you guys but she is not that hard easiest class if i may say. all of you who put negative comments well you just didnt feel like doing the work bc she explains everything crystal clear and even gives out bonus points to help you out, raised my grade a whole leter grade..got a B+ would deff take her agai
Her classes were interesting at times.. She can make you laugh but most of the time she is rude & arrogant.. don't be 2 mins late for a quiz b/c she won't let you take it regardless of the excuse.. not helpful esp. with project & she gives you 1million sources you cannot use but no info on what you should be using for your research, very unclear
Ok, she is not EASY, but she is easy, you have to know your stuff. Tests are multiple choice, but detailed questions. She has a little bit of an attitude but I liked her. She is bright and extremely energentic. Had her over the summer for 3 hours and classes flew. Take her if you can.
You can not miss a class without a doctor's note. From her stuck up demeanor it obvious she does not like teaching. She has little patience and makes students feel stupid. Note taking is impossible to say the least. Her project is impossible and its guidelines are unclear. Worst class I ever took at MSU.
if u can avoid her do it!! her lecture is based on her power points which u cant even copy cause she goes so fast and she doesnt give u a copy of them. her projet kills and her guidelines arent clear. u r afraid to ask her questions and u feel so stupid when u do!
You have 2 take this class seriously. Project is a ton of work but if you ask ?s ahead of time &just make eye contact like ur paying attention, she's not 2 bad. It's impssible 2 copy the notes but they are rt from the book. Calls on people randomly which was annoying but it seemed only those who looked intimidated, tests aren't 2bad if you read
She is smart, funny and very knowledgeable; however she is a arrogant at times and does make you afraid to ask questions. She isn't very clear although she thinks she is and gives tooo much work. She must not have a life because she does not care about any obstacles they may get in your way of coming to class. She acts like we are in kindergarten
She is really arrogant with everybody. the first three tests are quite hard, even if you read the book. The project seems to be hard but it's not really so don't get stress for it.
Sucky personality, cold hearted, and not helpful at all but if you just follow the textbook while she gives powerpoint notes, you should do fine. I got an A in the class but she is just not a very nice person. You might be better off taking it with someone else.
This class was very hard! She makes everything so difficult. She does not help you at all if you are not doing good she does not look a way to help you. very arrogant and not great teacher. Avoid taking care if u can.
Goes very fast with powerpoints - almost no time to write. Really pay attention in class & write as much as you can & youl do fine. 4 quizzes - 1 prject.. overall not too bad of a class/prof.. just pay attention!!
Don't miss class without a doctor's note, do your homework assignments, study for your tests, and do not start your research project the night before. Don't sweat the research project, she doesn't grade them too hard. If you read the chapters the night before you can earn bonus points in class if you answer her question correctly without the book.
I wish I researched this professor before taking her class. She is TOUGH. Her main concern is her other projects and research, not the students comprehension of the material. If you can avoid her class I would highly suggest it. I never worked so hard for one class and struggled to keep a low C.
Dr. Lewis is too consumed in herself to be concerned with her students! However, her tests are not too bad if you STUDY!! But the research project...FORGET IT! She never responds to emails for help because she just does not want to be bothered! All she cares about trying to get her journal published! Try to avoid this professor!!!
One word TOUGH!!! I never looked forward to class and you could feel the tension. Attendance is mandatory and her test are rough! STUDY STUDY STUDY and you might do well and the research project ... I am still recovering from the stress. Her office hours are a joke she schedules appointments instead Avoid if u can!!!
She isnt that bad! Just make sure you attend class and pay attention. Her notes basically go over everything in the book. NO, she doesnt degrade you. She just likes it when her students explain themselves. Her lectures are very clear and shes very helpful if you have a question. Couple exams and one research project. I would DEFF take her again.
tough professor, wouldn't take again! i was looking forward to the class since i started in psych and she completely killed it for me. she isn't a bad person but i would definitely retake the class with someone else.
Dr. Lewis can be tough, but if you show that you care for her class, she will be nice to you. Test are not hard, study from the book. The book explains everything crystal clear.Project seems really hard at the beggining, but it's not.She prepares her students really well for next level course- 220.
Her class is crazy!!!! Don't fall for her jokes. This class is actually hard and requires a lot of studying. The notes is unbelievable cause nobody can finish copying them. The project isn't fun at all. Its intimidating and she gives pop quizzes so be ready for them. The assinments are alright. She's a very hard grader and is hard to talk to Avoid!
Do NOT take if dont have to
She just reiterates what's in the readings. Tests are okay, but she likes to throw in random things she mentioned in class for two seconds. Lets you retake one exam but is never there to answer ?s (nice TA gives the tests). There are a few chances for extra credit but they're surprises. Miss ONE class w/o a valid excuse and you lose points.
TERRIBLE She doesn't care about her students. The Info on PP's are up for 2 seconds and she does not post them on Blackboard!Project is pointless, Tests are HARD.Dont bother going for extra help or to ask questions because she doesnt care.Loses work than gives a much lower grade to try and cover it up. She is rude and does not answer back ANY emails
She's funny and teaches clearly, but very strict with assignments, attendance, tardiness, and homework. You have to read the book for the test, and there's a big final project. I learned a lot but it was a lot of work
This class should be a requirement. Some of the subject matter can be emotionally draining, but Dr. Lewis handles it excellently. You need the books, and she does demand excellence, but I learned a lot from this class so I suppose it worked out. Texts come from readings and partially from notes. Study a little, pay attention, easy A.
Worse professor ever!! dont take her even if you have to. She is so mean and always has an attitude. She doesn't care about her students at all and could care less if they learn or not.At the end of the semester she end up with 15 students out of the 35 because everyone else dropped out. So Do yourself a favor and DON'T TAKE HER!!!
This was an amazing class. Dr. Lewis is incredibly knowledgeable and dispenses her knowledge to students who are interested. She will stay after to talkl to you about the class and about histories, and it's honestly the best class I've taken at MSU. She absolutely demands excellence, but the way she teaches, she deserves it.
Honestly I was looking forward to this class, but she is horrible! She lectures with power points but doesn't like when you copy word for word, so she leaves it up for 2 seconds, and moves on. Her tests are hard, and have nothing to do with her lectures. Have to sign into class in the first ten minutes. Doesn't help if you meet with her after class
DO NOT TAKE HER !!! SHE IS A GPA KILLER !! TESTS ARE RIDICULOUS AND SHE DOES NOT EXPLAIN INFORMATION THAT MUCH. DO NOT TAKE HER...EVEN IF YOU REALLY NEED TO TAKE THE CLASS...WAIT UNTIL YOU CAN TAKE SOMEONE ELSE !
She is not interested in teaching this class at all and it shows. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH HER! She is unhelpful, not caring, seems to dislike people in general, and makes the class hard to do well in. Whenever someone had a question or concern she humiliated them in front of the class. Tests are VERY hard despite being open book on blackboard.
This really wasn't a difficult class. I did fairly well by depending on the book alone. She's very clear in class and she's clear in telling you what she wants you to do, but it's just that she's not the most approachable professor out there; she tends to be moody and at times doesn't seem to be interested in helping you do well.
If you read the book, you should be fine. Well, as long as you don't get on her bad side. Follow her rules because if you don't, it WILL be bad. Only take her if you really have to, and even then, try to get out of it. If you can't, be ready to put a lot of work in, because as I mentioned, you will definitely need to read the book... Repeatedly
she was absolutely AWFUL. she made you feel stupid all the time and i refused to ask questions. she was unclear about everything. her exams were easy and right out of the book. you absolutely need the book for this class to pass because she doesn't explain
She is rude. if you're speaking she will cut you off. If you disagree with her or have an opinion, just keep it to yourself. The information from the class is very interesting. Too bad it's not a different professor. Very Bad ATTITUDE!!!
Failed my first exam BUT I ended up with an A because I actually put effort into the class. She wants you to really know the info not just memorize it. Strict but reasonable, she is nicer than she seems. I got an A on the final paper because I met with her and she helped a lot. Only take if you are not a slacker.
She has a funny personality at times but her class sucks, the lectures are usually boring and attendance is mandatory. The exams are all on blackboard so you can cheat like crazy so you never end up using the textbook. Expects a lot but easily can get a good grade in this class without studying for the exams
She is a pretty good teacher. Works off of slides but goes a bit quickly. Only 1 homework assignment, 1 project and exams aren't bad. If you don't know psych you should read but its not required. Pay attention and you'll be fine.
if you register for this class, and you have Dr. Lewis as a teacher i feel sorry for you. She is the absolute worst. i transferred to montclair hoping to get a great college experience & Dr. Lewis ruined it for me. She's useless&overall a miserable person. she will make you hate your life. I repeat if you have her as a teacher... RUN
Do NOT listen to the whiners and haters in this class. If you are serious about your college education and don't expect everything spoonfed to you, take Dr. Lewis. She is not easy, but what she does is she makes you WORK. Excellent professor. Participate a lot in her class. Show you are not a sponge, but an active thinker. She likes that.
One ridiculous project (8 weeks to complete), one easy homework assignment and 5 online exams. No midterm and final is an ungraded assessment. Attendance is mandatory.
Her class and way of teaching was a complete turn off. She is very aggressive and I ended up dreading the class
it was hard to really take notes in her class and it can be intimidating to ask questions. That being said, i do not think it is a hard class per se. i would advise not taking notes and just listening to her lectures, and study the chapters later. she gave online quizzes so that helped lol!
Dr. Lewis is very wise, she knows her stuff. The material was kind of heavy, but definitely important to know. I refuse to sell my books because they're filled with knowledge. The online work is very demanding, but you feel great after working hard and earning a good grade.
WORST professor I have ever taken at MSU, I warn you not to take her class! Exams are extremely hard and she makes you feel stupid if you ask a question. She goes way too fast with the slides you cant take notes. She wants everything to be perfect and precise and is a tough grader. If I had her as a professor again Id cry
Dr. Lewis makes you work hard, but she actually does care about her students. She is not the warmest or most approachable professor AT ALL, but be persistent. She tries to be funny and interesting in class. Not very helpful when answering questions over email. Come to class having read the chapter before hand and you'll breeze through.
Dr. Lewis is very intimidating but she has great lectures. You MUST read the textbook chapters in order to pass but once you do, the 5 online exams will be pretty easy. I suggest not taking notes during class because you probably won't get anything down but if you just listen, you'll learn way more anyway. She is a great professor!
Had to take this class to fulfill the gen Ed requirement. Not a fan of psychology to begin with and she made it even worse. Boring lectures and she'll call you out if you leave her class during lecture.
THE WORST!!!!!!!! She was so rude do not know how to speak to people
She was very clear and told you exactly what her expectations were. You can't skip classes. She gave goodfunnyrelatable examples in class which helped understand the material more clearly.
NO, Just NO. Professor Lewis is rude, she made me very upset I actually started tearing. I do not recommend her. RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN. Several people have dropped the course this semester, and she does not know how to talk to a student. She won't smile or even look at you when you talk to her. RUN......
Dr. Lewis will make you learn the material. She is an extremely hard grader on the semester long research project. If you need an explanation of material or the project you will have to meet with her during her limited office hours. Had to leave work twice for meetings. Ended up getting an A because I read and put in the effort. You will learn
Very unreasonable and makes excuses to not allow test retakes due to WiFi connection issues. Very tough and moves extremely quick with notes/slides.
To pass this class, you need to do well on the exams. to pass the exams, all you need to do is type the question into Quizlet. she steals all of her questions to avoid work. The Lit. Review is a lot of work, dont put it off. subject pools can be tough, dont put them off either, the sooner you do them, the easier they are.
Class is a joke. The sole key to passing is a strong WiFi connection, although this could pose a problem at "It's all here" MSU. Glad I never got around to buying the textbook since I would've just been using it as a doorstop (functional fixedness chapter7). Cheat your way through the exams, forget the Lit Review and still pull a B.
She is a horrible teacher ! Don't take her , we recently took a test that had an WiFi issue. Everyone got a low grade she says we are responsible for it. Boring class and she's very rude . do not take her.
she is rude and boring dont ask for help because you wont get any from her, ask the TA. attendance matters but you dont need to raise your hand she talks too fast for notes so just listen. dont buy the textbooks, cheat through the tests and youll pass. only 1 big assignment you can get a B with out even doing.
Prof. Lewis was beyond terrible. She does not care about her students or passing them. Very strict about timing in class; don't be late! Never use your phone in class because she will put you on the spot in front of everyone. Unreasonable and not patient whatsoever. Make sure you always have wifi for the exams because she won't let you retake it.
Alright so here's the deal with Professor Lewis, I had her for a hybrid course---which was not very chill because I felt like her class really needed a second in person day. She is a no-nonsense woman and you need to learn how to keep up. She expects you to read but I got away with not buying the assigned books and I always had a decent grade.
Avoid her, she is the worst. Does not give feedback, rude, a test every week, and is a tough grader. You would fail like I did, even when I tried everything.
All of her questions are copied from the Mcgraw-Hill Education site, which she obviously knows. I have 0 clue what to do with my paper because she doesn't give out feedback for anything. I'm struggling with a B- right now. Probably the biggest mistake I made in my college career was taking her class.
Can't take any notes
Honestly all of her quizzes are found online. You basically search each question up online and they come up. Her class was okay, powerpoints were too fast. dont take notes in class instead take notes by READING THE TEXTBOOK! Don't have to go to class but definitely recommend since she takes points off at the end
If you don't read you won't pass. I wouldn't take her again, her teaching style is very fast paced and you'll get singled out at least once in her class.
terrible save your life and your GPA
The class is half psych and stats. She teaches using PowerPoint. She tries to get audience participation for bonus points and assigns you groups that you practice problems with during class. Attendance is taken through a sign in sheet. Only 5 open book tests that you take at home and a research project. Homework is optional and no midterm or final.
This class is tough. You definitely have to read and keep up with her. I do love her teaching methods because she was funny always kept you on your toes. She likes to pick on people so try to participate. She gives extra bonus which is great because that helped me out with my grade. Just be prepare to work. I thought her test were hard.
Listen, I didn't read or take notes. I just used the textbook to take the online tests and came out with a solid B. The literature review is not hard if you can follow directions. I think a lot of freshman freak out about this class because she is no nonsense, expects you to remember due dates, and does not coddle anyone.
Gives good feedback in a one on one setting but if you ask for help in class she is not going to help you much. She will either email back immediately or take a while to get back to you. The syllabus is clear but she flies by in PowerPoints and you feel left behind. If you skip a reading, good luck in class.
Dr. Lewis is a no nonsense professor that expects a college student to be a college student. If you're looking for an easy A, don't even bother. She makes you work. She flies thru powerpoints, but if you did the reading before class you'll be fine because you'll know what she's talking about. Her tests are open book, but timed; so still read.
WORST thing you can do. Save your GPA and don't take her. She's rude though she "tries" to seem cool by making "jokes". I regret taking the class.
Took her for a 3 week online course, will never make that mistake again. She is a tough grader, and we were only graded based off of a huge research project and four exams. Does not give you enough time for the exams and does not let you see what questions you got wrong. She isn't unreasonable, but by no means flexible. Advice: avoid her if you can
The class comprises of a literature review which you are given a lot of time for and 5 tests that are taken online through Canvas. She expects you to have read the chapter prior to going to class and may give quizzes regarding the readings. As long as you read and keep your phone away during class it is not too bad.
tough grader . great teacher, wants you to learn
Doesnt announce anything or put much on Canvas watch your Dashboard and Revel like a hawk or youll miss important assignments.
At first she might look a little bit intimidating but shes not that bad in my opinion. Five online exams there are easy you can find the answers on quizlet. Be prepared to answer questions for every beginning of class. Revel textbook mandatory it just reading and answer questions. Subject pool mandatory and a research project at the end.
Terrible professor. Do not take her online. 5 exams and a research project that barely makes any sense. Very tough grader. All of the exams are timed which makes it very difficult to do well on them.
Overall I would suggest taking this class. Even though the class had many assignments, they were not hard if you did the homework. She was clear in expectations and even gave a chance to earn extra credit. This class had 5 open note book tests and a major projects, so it required a lot of effort.
In general, this woman is phenomenal. Her class takes work and you need to earn your grade, but I can walk away from this class having learned important information. Also, she's an extremely kind-hearted and supportive professor which is incredibly rare. She really tries to motivate you and is very understanding when necessary.
I would never recommend this class. I can't speak for her as an in-person professor, but her online class is awful. The exams are tedious and only open at certain times so if you have work during those times, you're pretty much SOL because she will do little to help you. Just save yourself the headache, don't take her online class.
Very strict
she's intelligent and funny. overall a good professor
SAVE YOURSELF DO NOTTTT TAKE HER! She is incredibly rude and doesn't care about you or your grades. Her exams are online but you cannot even see what you got wrong after taking the exam so it is extremely hard to know what to study.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND TAKING HER CLASS AT ALL! She is rude and doesnt know how to speak to people. She also only teaches from the textbook and then throws other work at you that had nothing to do with what she taught and she doesnt explain anything and then when you ask questions after class she gives you attitude as if you should already know
worst class I have ever taken. She says she cares about us but it clear that she truly does not . Her guidelines are never clear and no one ever know what is going on. We are graded on few things and we do not even know our final grade until the end of the semester. I was a psychology major, but this class was so terrible that I changed majors
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH HER! She uses the textbook to teach her classes. She can't teach on her own. She reads off the PowerPoint and doesn't elaborate on anything. She grades you only very little things. Assignments are worth 0 points so you don't really benefit from anything. She gives a project that determines your whole grade. Horrible!
AVOID HER ONLINE CLASS! Long hard tests with short time, also not very understanding when it comes to late submissions.
Sometimes there's going to be that one professor that doesn't care how many other classes you have, and will expect you to slave your life away in order to merely pass the course + exams. Sandra Lewis is one of those professors. Has little regard/respect to you as a student, unhelpful lectures, and very hard to contact for "help." She's just great.
She is such a horrible professor. I just don't understand why she teaches if she could care less about her students. All she does is read off the slides from Pearson and doesn't teach at all. You pay so much money just to end up teaching yourself by reading the textbook. Please don't take her class online nor in person. Save yourself the money!
do not take this class with this professor!! you've been warned. She never gives enough time for the exams and quizzes (the final was 40 questions, 60 minutes, 11 questions were complex math problems). She scolded me for attempting to leave class 5 minutes early because I was having a panic attack, told me to sit back down. Rude & uncaring.
I dont know why the reviews are so bad for her. Yes, a majority of the class is taught online and her lectures mostly just review what you were assigned to read, but most classes are like that. If you do everything youre supposed to and stay on top of assignments (there is really not a lot) you will for sure get an A, EASILY. All are on quizlet
She mainly taught off visual slides and never responds to emails. Overall, the class was pretty easy.
The clear indication that you're taking a professor that teaches without passion, is when they assign journal prompts that they don't even read. You're teaching yourself which is fine, but to say this Professor could care less about teaching a course with care is an understatement. She's not difficult- just boring, uninterested and old school.
Avoid this class with this professor at all costs. She gives 0 feedback except this is wrong I will make sure to never have her again at Montclair State.
just dont do it
Professor Lewis can be very rude, and likes to embarrass her students and put them on the spot. She can be nice and funny at times, but she can instantly switch back into her usual cold attitude. Her lectures are straight from the book so the class is a waste of time, but attendance is unfortunately mandatory. I dont recommend this professor.
Dr. Lewis is pretty rude. Our class was a lecture @8am... yeah. REVEL readings were due twice a week, but everything (including tests) were on Quizlet. This class is hard to fail & the information is actually interesting, but most of the work is on you. Barely any help on our research papers but she gave extra credit at the end. She has potential.
WORST PROFESSOR/ TEACHER I'VE EVER HAD! Don't EVER take any of her courses. She has to be one of the least caring people I have ever met and one of the most rude. I have seen her bring students to the verge of crying countless times during class. Also, I attended every class and participated but only got 50% for participation/ attendance.
HORRENDOUS. WORST PROF EVER. she was not respected by any of her students. She was blatant about her disregard for her class, specifically her white students. Heard she was fired from Montclair. No surprises there. Also, I organized a large group from my class go to the head of the department to express our dissatisfaction with this professor.
This class really isnt THAT much work compared to a lot of psychology classes, what really got to me was the fact that I had an extreme family emergency one week, like bad to the point that I had to take an emergency flight to my family member, and she had zero cares about it- no flexibility - she literally couldnt have been more cold.
Dr Lewis truly cares just make sure to do what is expected of you as a student and respect the policies she has in place as long as you do you duties as a student then you will get an A and even if you are struggling she will always do everything she can to help you
dr lewis was really cold and rude one moment then the next moment would be kind and crack jokes. during the research project, offered office hours which i recommend going to cause she does not offer much other help. there is some extra credit which you should for sure do
this class overall is AGGRESSIVELY easy... she can be very annoying and her lectures are boring but just show up to class and youll be fine. youre going to have to do reading every week but they are online and as long as you take the quizzes in them (which are all on quizlet) you will get good grades on them. also all tests are on quizlet.
This woman is absolutely soulless. She does not accept late work under ANY circumstance (even if the reason is valid; i.e major family emergency). She is difficult to reach & takes weeks to grade. Exams are opened up 2 days before they are due and are LONG. Too much work for a self taught online class. She's awful. stay away from her if possible.
GIVES WAY TOO MANY ASSIGNMENTS FOR ONE CLASS SUPER STRESSFUL ASSIGNMENTS DUE ALMOST EVERYDAY YOU HAVE TO TEACH YOURSELF IF YOU DONT GET AN ANSWER RIGHT WHEN SHE CALLS ON YOU IT REFLECTS HORRIBLY ON YOUR GRADE DONT EXPECT TO PASS OTHER CLASS IF YOU TAKE THIS ONE.
Dr. Lewis is something else. Her class can be engaging at times but she has a really bad habit of embarrassing her students. She will go off at the sight of a phone so don't even bother taking it out. She will lecture until the last second of class. But all her tests are on canvas and you don't have to come to class to take them.
The material taught in this class is very useful. The professor is a really tough grader though. Once a week discussion post per chapter and I've never received a perfect score even if I covered all of the material. Tests were very easy if you pay attention but too many assignments to received an A in this course.
Dr.Lewis has high expectations but that is apparent for someone who has been teaching for over a decade.Use her syllabus as a guide and stay one week ahead, pay attention, and actually answer questions trust me it reflects at the end.The tests are straight from revel. easy A if you aren''t willing to work don't take it
She's not really that bad. There's just a lot of work to do and memorize over a short period of time. That's something that I struggled with. If you have your phone or your laptop out and you don't have accommodations, she WILL tell you to leave and sign out of class for the day. She can be funny at times tho.
This professor is very rude, every time you try to email her she always comes across as rude and doesn't send friendly emails. Even with dealing with her personally. she can be a lot to deal with. Her other assistant professor is really nice and sweet.
Honestly, this professor was one of those professors that grades so harshly over nothing like the littlest detail. I would not take this professor again because of how much it affects my grade. When trying to explain situations or even justifying something, she does not have the decency or the kindness to even consider anything. Rude.
Doesn't allow computers nor phones. Rude and doesn't give students time to take notes. Half used the textbook and half used other ways. Felt like she taught a self help class rather than psych of adjustment.
I honestly have nothing good to say about this class. I took it as an elective since I am done with all major credits. The professor was such a harsh grader for such a low-level class. Some assignments weren't explained well, and she marked them tremendously, I had a F from the first assignment of introducing myself and ended with a D.
I took Dr. Lewis' Intro to Psych class fully online. Her exams are pretty poorly put together. She barely answered emails back. It was pretty hard to get answers to questions about the course. Online material for her class was either hard to find on canvas or links for videos did not work. She barely put any effort into her online course. Dont take
She was my advisor for 4 years, I reached out to her 2 or 3 times every semester through nest and montclair email. She never responded once, ended up asking random professors and my registration advisor. I was told I needed to meet with her to graduate, I never did and graduated. is she a ghost?
I was assigned her as my faculty advisor for four years, never met her once and reached out two or three times a semester by email. Eventually got told I needed her sign off to graduate and still never met or talked to her, just talked to my registration advisor and begged. I'm not sure she really exists
Dr. Lewis can be challenging, with mandatory attendance and straight-from-the-book lectures. But Unstuck study helped me prepare effectively for her tests. Overall, a tricky class, but doable with the right study tools.
Do not take her. She is rude and does not care about her students. I did well in the class, but it was only on my part. She doesn't take the time to properly explain things and answers questions by making you feel dumb. She doesn't allow ANY technology in class unless it's for accommodations or ordered by her. So, for your own sake do not take her.
She's kinda boring, her lectures drag a bit too long. And she doesn't believe in technology in class. But she's easy to work with and doesn't grade harshly.
Guys she's not that bad, just a little annoying.
I take it back this professor is HORRIBLE. She's not understanding at all and will grade the most important things last and before you know it you're near failing. I DON'T recommend save your grade and your sanity.
Absolutely HORRIBLE. She didn't upload the notes to canvas and would speed through them and not give the students enough time to write it down. Did not act like a professor. Do NOT take any of her classes.
I honestly really liked her. All the tests were open notes and the homework was easy. The only thing was that she went fast during class, but all of the information was from the textbook. Was accessible, and gives good real-life examples when explaining. Overall as long as you, go to class and dont go on your phone during class, you will be fine.
Pretty blunt, only reads off slides and doesn't give much of her own input but encourages others to reflect on their own experience. Relies on the online textbook a lot and most the grades are from its completion. She is okay
