This instructor was not helpful at all. I went by her office during conf. time and she refused to explain further, stated she already went over this in class. I withdrew and took another instructor and had no problems and made an A.

This is the one and only class I have ever dropped in all three years that I have been in college. I don't mind hard teachers as long as I can learn the material when I try but I tried and still had to drop this class. I recommend any other teacher.

"You people are too slow" "Turn in your Algebra card" In addition, she is clearly overwhelmed. She is extremely behind on returning homework. The class average on our last test was a 61! Worst teacher ever, and I am not lazy I really tried and attended turtoring 6 hours a week. This was a 3 week mini, 4 hours a night/4 days/wk and she expected another 4 hours of homework DAILY! Her tests are horrible, gives you a review and "says" she tells us what will be on the exam, but the exam isn't like either. Over 50% failed our tests.

Just finished Finite Math with a different teacher who was amazing. As I observed his teaching style and McCurdy's it became more and more obvious what a terrible "teacher" she is. She doesn't "teach" she speeds through and expects you to retain it all. Don't take her..trust me!

Okay she is the worst to take College Algebra with Expect to teach yoursself from the book the for the entire course. She assainges over 250 homework questions for each chapter but only picks 12 random ones out to give you ONE grade for Her test are nothing like whats in the book or what she barely teaches in class dont take her if you dont have to

This is the worst teacher ever!! She gives quizzes every other class and assigns at least 40 problems for homework each night. She expects you to already know everything in the book. She marked off points during the exam because I had to leave the room to blow my nose. Don't take her!!!!!

She is a boring professor, her exams are short but very complicated, it baffles me how anyone can actually learn anything from this lady. A class is a place for teaching and learning but with her its learn from example she shows and then she expects you to ace her exams.

Very bad teacher. I thought I would do great since I have As and Bs in Pre AP Algebra I, II and Geometry but she is useless.

If math isnt your best and you dont have time to study you should take a different teacher. She flies by content like its a nascar race and gives out tons and tons of hw but grades it super late so the feedback is useless. She comes into class forgetting things all the time. But if you already know algebra and is good at it then you should be fine

I usually don't rate my professors but McCurdy was my worst math professor that I have taken at SanJac. I love Math, but her teaching style and her tests beat me to the pulp. All she does is read off her pre-made notes and do really simple problems there aren't even on the test. By all means if you want a good understanding of Cal, DO NOT TAKE HER.

I've had many bad teachers but this professor wins by far. I can't even ask a question without being humiliated by giving me a long talk on how I don't know what I'm doing. Toughest math teacher I have ever had. If you struggle with math do not take this professor, she does not allow a graphing calculator and would rather have the work done by hand. Questions are discourage because she will embarrass you in front of the class and tell you how you should know the material already. I've never has so much math homework EVER and the due dates of said homework are anybody's guess. Lectures are hard to follow because she will jump from one thing to a completely unrelated thing.

If you are more of a one on one person dont take her. She doesnt explain in detail how she got the answer for a question she just expects you to already know how to do the steps to solve it. I made a mistake not checking ratemyprofessor. I usually maintain a B in math courses but in her pre cal class she is barley teaching and instead just speaks expecting the class to have fully understood the material. She only well as of this review checks her emails when she is in her office. So if you have a question and seek help after her hours you are out of luck. Due to the on going virus our class is now online only and seems it will be that way until the end. But ever since the beginning of the semester professor McCurdy is by far one of if not the worst professor I have had here at San Jac South. Do not chose her for any math class. She grades very few things, and gives no extra credit at all.

She did not teach me anything except that she is not a good professor in calculus. Thanks to YouTube I managed to somehow pass her class. Even during the virus when everything was in lock down. She thought it was smart to assign even more work as well as tests. And the due dates were due at the end of class time. Not a good professor.

I am in dual credit and after the first couple of weeks I realized what a mistake I made in choosing her course. Thanks to the help from khan academy I managed to go well in this class despite being bombarded with work from McCurdy. However when the virus hit I thought she would not assign a lot. NOPE she assigned even more work and tests.

Finished Calculus 1 somehow passed. But I will never chose this professor again. When the virus caused the college to cancel classes life was even harder for me. Im in dual credit classes and decided to get calculus 1 out the way and could only pick her and it was the worst decision I have made so far. They amount of papera she hands out is a lot. Even during the pandemic she still assigned a lot of work more than usual. If you are in dual credit or a college student do not pick her.

Being in highschool I went through a lot of hard classes, but mccurdy's cal 1 class was by far the hardest. And in highschool I am a straight A and B students. Professor McCurdy thought it was okay to issue ALOT of work during this pandemic. I live quite far from the college and have to work. This "professor" has shown me that she does NOT care.

Her classroom setting was not Appropriate. Her class room was located right next to the basketball court inside the gym building. I found it very hard to concentrate when you could literally hear shoes squeaking, basketballs bouncing off the floor and other noises. Other than that The professor was not that good either.

Attendance is mandatory as she will pass around an attendance sheet for students to sign in. Her work load is ALOT be aware that if you chose to take her calculus class you will have a a lot of work to do. Both in class and homework. Her lectures are not that helpful. I had to get a lot of help from tutors at the college. Overall not a good class

This class has taught me to check who my counselor chose for me. My counselor told me that he knew she was a great professor. But was he wrong very wrong. The work is excessive and repetitive. Lectures are not helpful either. Thanks to help from tutors I managed to pass with a B. But I was close to withdrawing from this class.

Every day I went to her class I literally had to pull out my binoculars in order to try to understand what it is she is writing down on the board. some times she even forgets to teach us things that are on quizzes / exams. Not a good experience at all.

Being a sophomore in high school I am glad that i passed with an A college algebra. I was late to enrollement this semester and she was the only choice. I now understand why she was the only choice. Not a great experience at all. Infact i have been in dual credit at Clear Horizons since my freshmen year and she has been the worst profesor so far.

This professor had the gut to still give TONS of work during the COVID-19 break out when the college was shut down. Many of us could not go to work and were all in tough situations. My English is no good so I use translate. She is not a great cal 1 professor as she rather issue paper loads of work rather than take time to teach ig to make sense of what we are learning from her. Unbelievably rude professor. She is not interested in teaching and she repeatedly stated "y'all should already know this!" She even locked the doors to the classroom sometimes and wouldn't let late people in until she felt they had been adequately humiliated.

I took professor Mccurdy and she is not a good teacher. Is very rude when you ask questions during class. She's that teacher that will tell you to look at the textbook. We had 5 exams which are made up of 86 percent of the entire grade in the class. 14% per regular test, and 30% of the final exam. So much homework which makes up 7% of the grade.

To start off this was my first ever college math course and my goodness professor mccurdy is definitely for now the word professor I have had here at san jac. I took her class because for my credit, but it was a horrible experience. She goes really fast to the point where when you write down what she told you to write down, she's already on the final steps of the problem and expects you to have solved it. She doesn't explain herself and tells you to read the textbook and treats students bad.

This lady a terrible teacher. Granted, we should know some things from college algebra. O.K. But she literally rushes through everything. She only talks and writes down, not teach. You can't even write anything down before she erases it or she stands in front of the board. Mic isn't even allowed on, and if you type a question, she'll snap at you.

She goes really fast and expects you to remember everything youve ever done in math classes. A bit of review would be nice before tests, which are overloaded with information. When going over problems she will write them on the board and then erase them like 5 seconds later. There is not a lot of opportunities to ask questions other than typing.

I simply asked her a question related to the material and she got upset at me. Mccurdy seems like she hates her job, very rude and is too fast paced when she teaches. I am planning on first dropping this course then reporting her to who ever her supervisor is. She is not doing a good job.

Covid 19 had affected each and everyone of us students in a negative manner, some have been affected worst than others. Professor McCurdy seems to think that we are all fine, and must be on her pace. I hate to give any professor a bad score but her class stumps me! She doesn't explain concepts very well and expects students to instantly understand them. She doesn't explain well when students ask questions. The textbook doesn't help much. She works examples out and frequently makes mistakes that throw me off. I'm considering dropping the class.

She is honestly the worst professor I have ever had. The only way you may actually learn something is through Aleks and that's about it. She does not teach stuff that is also in the Aleks homework, forcing the students to learn off examples. She does not like students going to the restroom either. Stay away from McCurdy's class!

My mistake not checking RMP before signing up for this class. I had to drop, and I stuck it out as long as possible. Professor McCurdy is not good at teaching math to people not naturally inclined towards it. I was so deep in the gutter that the ALEKS textbook couldn't help me, and I can usually get a concept if I read about it. Don't be like me.

Mrs. McCurdy was nice but she was not a good professor she has a hard time with technology so she did everything on paper and would cast the paper to the screen but often times did not have the paper fully showing. She goes very fast when teaching and doesn't explain very well how she got to her answer. She also didn't put grades into blackboard.

Her attitude when asked questions makes you feel like a lesser being, as a professor she should know in a classroom setting it is very humiliating for some to go through it. She is not tech-savvy, every 10 minutes we have to remind her to move the paper so we can see the parts she trynna explain. Good person, bad at teaching.

I did not check rate my professor before signing up definetly regret it. she doesn't really teach class well and lots of times she will literally say if u don't understand this I can help you. You really only learn thru doing your homework on the textbook.

Would say she posted notes whenever she didn't and would get upset or deny she forgot whenever I mentioned it.She would start lecturing using notes she had not given us yet. It was a fast pace, and you had to teach yourself.Her reviews were not like the test.She doesn't even make the reviews.Would forget to bring everything, even tests! The worst

Avoid this professor if you can. I usually make A+ but barely passed. Had to study 40+ hours for one exam just to make a B. Lectures are fast and disorganized, making note-taking hard. Notes are rarely posted despite promises. No extra credit, and tests are your only shot at a good grade.

She's very discouraging, she always forgets to print out papers and she speeds through her lectures. She never lets you use the bathroom either for the entire 2 hrs. I had to teach myself everything and studied 4+ hrs every day just to understand the homework.
