Very challenging class. She is knowledgeble proffessor, but her tests are very treaky and hard to compehend the questions. Required lot of reading. She is asking questions from the book on her tests, and some of them not a main subjects.Be prepared to study
Very nice teacher. Very pretty which makes it hard to concentrate. Her Husband is a very lucky guy. Class lectures don't seem to help with the exam. She has missed quite a few days this semester and it makes it hard for taking tests.
This is a lawyer teaching at a comm. college. If you are up for the challenge, take her. This is a great teacher and class to get ready for the real world. (transfering to a university) Make sure you study! This isn't high school anymore!
Tests are tricky and require lots of reading. If you get an "A" on the final you get an "A" in the class. The class was actually a lot more interesting then I thought it was going to be.
Ok, the class is not easy. You have to do the reading so you will understand her lectures. BUT, she is such a funny and friendly instructor that she will try her best to make sure you understand. She gives 4 exams + 1 final. She drops the lowest exam.
She acts like we should already know law.Very rude&defensive to those who dare ask questions & has a superior know it all attitude.Exams are EXTREMELY TRICKY.She had a sub the first weeks of class but still threw out the test scores and made us take the test again as if it was our fault she was on maternity leave(UNFAIR), I feel sorry for Mr Otoole
for those who consider Law Major, TAKE HER! her test format is somewhat similar to the LSAT which helped a lot! very knowledgeable. interesting lectures. Tests are doable. Very interesting teacher. Highly recommend her!
excellent teacher makes the class fun and she jokes around alot so it makes it comfortable. my favorite teacher at l.b.c.c. she helps u when u need it and she gives a chance at the end to still pass the class even if u did bad.
dont miss the lectures or else you will surely be lost. the book must be read throughly and a study group for the tests are definately recommended. it is always fun to go to class when the professor is super hot!!!!! You really have to pay attention, study, and read the book if you want an A in the class. I set the curve on 3 of the 4 tests :)
She's beautiful, intelligent, and a very competent professor.

Oh my goodness, this professor is an AMAZING Woman and even better professor. She is the most intelligent teacher I have ever had as well being as hott as a model:) She can be a little rough, but thats just her nature, Tests are a little hard too, but if you do the work and reading your a for sure A. Very helpful, A GREAT TEACHER HIGHLY RECOMMEND
Excellent teacher.
"THE BOTTOM LINE" "THE BOTTOM LINE" "THE BOTTOM LINE". That is all she says in class. I was so bored in this class that I actually counted how many times she said, "THE BOTTOM LINE" (43 times). Very difficutl class but as long as you read the most boring book in history, you'll be fine. The hardest tests ever!
Opinions about this teacher seem to be pretty mixed. Most common comment is that she is a tough teacher. But this is college! If you do the work that she suggests you do and use your brain beyond what most classes require, you'll do just fine. I definitely recommend taking her classes, as long as you have a sense of humor.
Great teacher! I took her for 18A and 18B. She is really clear in her lectures and keeps them entertaining. She teaches because she loves to, she is a great professional and an extremely clever woman. One of the professors that i loved the most. Read the book and pay attention, it pays off! If you take this class you will get a lot out of it!
She is the most unhelpful instructor. She is routinely late to class, yet feels it's ok to insult a student who is late. She also has recently implemented a rule regarding bathroom usage. If you need to use the bathroom, you must pack up your belongings and leave for the day. If you like to be yelled at and treated like trash she's the gal for you.
Always bragging about what a great lawyer she is, unfortunately she is not a great teacher! She comes to class late and in a bad mood and takes out her anger on her students. Don't ask her to clarify information for you and don't ask questions in class-she will try to make you look dumb for asking.
It's been two months in this class and she has lectured on two chapters. This class is for my major and I am not learning anything. Great lady, not so great teacher. Don't ask questions, she will pick on you relentlessly. She has been late and absent quite a few times...unfourtunately she is the only one who teaches this section...
If you are taking business law for your major this is the professor you need. She will teach you the material and give you a practical way to understand/view the law. What else could you ask for? I've never found a lecture boring, in fact, this class wakes me up for the rest of the day.
TOO BAD HER LOOKS WON'T SHOW UP ON MY TRANSCRIPTS!!!! sHE SHOWS UP TO CLASS AT LEAST 15MINUTES LATE AND MISSES AT LEAST ONE DAY IN A MONTH. bUT WE ARE STILL FORCED TO KNOW THE MATERIAL, AND SHOVES THE LECTURES DOWN OUR THROAT TO MAKE UP FOR HER TARDIES AND ABSENCES. SHE BLAMES HER CHILDREN FOR EVERYTHING! SHE IS FULL OF EXCUSES. iT SUCKS THAT SHE
Okay, Yeah she may seem discouraging from all the reviews lol but you do learn alot if you keep up with the readings and make sure you are at all of the lectures. DONT THINK THIS IS AN EASY A class. I would say its an easy C with effort. I dont like her test. There really poorly made but ull manage I think if you read read read. Overall, she is ok
great teacher lectures in a fun way that helps u learn. whoever did give her bad ratings probably did get bad grades. she's very helpful and if u stick it out she'll make it worth it for you and you'll find out she's a great teacher and not as intimidating as she puts out to be.
Dr. O'Toole is a great teacher! If you read the book do the homework and listen to her lectures (take notes) you'll do fine. She has a great style of teaching which really gets your attention. I dont think I've been bored once in her class. (doesnt mean I wanted to be there but when i was i was engaged) For the people who complain about her being l
You are probably going to be fooled by the other students' reviews that claim she is a great teacher. If they think O'Toole is good, they don't know what good is. She is an uncaring flake who doesn't keep up with the syllabus and you pay for it in the end. Go ahead and listen to the other reviews and take her and you will be sorry for it. Trust Me!
She is very intimidating but attractive to look at. Her lectures are not boring but are not always helpful on her exams. Reading the book is important although you have to be disciplined to read it on your own as she doesn't force you. She picks on students. She doesn't give much homework. Her exams are difficult though.
law is a hard subject,do your reading before class and just attend class and you will pass.(plain and simple)
Business Law 18A and 18B are a must-take with Dr. O'Toole. She teaches by introducing the rule of law, gives a personal real life example from her experience when she practiced as a lawyer to cement it and then has you apply through textbook problems. She's fun, willing to explain and wants to make it interesting for you, too!
Honestly, its hard to decide how i felt about her class. She is a good teacher and she repeats all her lectures many many times for clarity although, its really hard. All the points are tests and the tests are extremely hard, she does it on a curve and adds some points to the test scores. Some love her, take her and find out.
BEWARE! She can make the textbook answer wrong and that is because she really knows her stuff. The people complaining are just idiots who can't pass her class. They even took a complain about her to the dean which just goes to show how they are not willing to do their work but just expect that she will pass them.
Hands down, best professor at this college. If it weren't for her, I wouldn't be where I now am. Very tough teacher because she is highly intelligent and is not fearful of heard work herself. Don't be afraid to learn or don't take her.
great teacher.Lectures are very interesting and fun. I have learned a lot in her class. I will be transferring to CSULB soon.
To begin with, Business Law is a difficult subject to comprehend. In this class in order to get higher than a C coming to class and taking notes in not enough. Even though she's a good teacher and goes over the lecture for clarity, her tests are difficult, however, she does grade on a curve.
This is NOT a toss off class. If you want an A, it will take most students pints of precious blood, sweat, and tears to do it. She knows her stuff and how to teach it, but HARD subject. Follow her advice(do the ?s, read the text, etc) and you will do well. This is a university level class, she gives FAR more value for your $$ than most jc courses.
DO NOT TAKE SUMMER SESSION UNLESS ITS THE ONLY CLASS. explains things very well, but you really must keep up with the readings and know your stuff. read the test ?'s carefully every little word counts and test ?'s wording may confuse you. READ READ READ!!!
I had an excellent experience being introduced to the study of law... thanks to Ms. O'Toole. She's smart, funny, and attractive. I've been so inspired that I've now decided to now pursue my JD after I acquire my Busi. degree.
It's not that she's exactly tough, the course is tough in general. She is a good teacher though and tries to make everyone understand.
She is a tough teacher but honestly she does want you to learn. She loves it when you ask questions (kind of intimidating though). I dreaded going to this class but I guess I learned something. If she you have to take her, just do it and keep up with the work. Basically the class is hard, but if you keep up you can get a B I guess.
Prof. O'Toole delivers a 4-year-university-quality course. Even if you're a straight-A student, you will find her course very challenging. You should be able to do well if you attend all lectures, take good notes, and study the questions at the end of each chapter. ALWAYS review your test results in detail at office hours.
Best teacher I've ever had! I took her 18b class last semester and got an A. best advice? read the book, ask questions when in doubt, know the material and you'll do fine. hard class but she will teach you how to write effectively also. like others have said, University level education. Excellent teacher overall.
I had her for all 3 business law courses, A, B, and international (IBUS60). She is a GREAT teacher, and we are lucky to have a professor like her teaching at LBCC. TAKE ADVANTAGE! Show up, read the book and learn to use IRAC format.. Ace the final and ace the class, period. P.S. She is hilarious!
I found this class to be very challenging, but probably one of the most interesting that I've ever taken! Before taking this class, I had no interest at all in Business Law. Now, I'm actually looking forward to 1B. Dr. O'Toole is very fair in her grading policy. If you do the reading & research the cases, you'll do well in her class. She's great!!
Prof. O'Toole is awesome, she's super funny and clowns hard on students but u just love her even more for it. I took her for both Law 18A & B and I'm looking forward to taking Int'l law with her as well. Class is hard but read and do hmwkr and extra credit n you'll pass it, the lowest grade she gives is a C, she grades on a curve so that's helpful.
This is an online course and it seems like we don't even have a teacher. She has posted test late and her schedule for course due dates are all wrong. Her test are hard and good luck if you ever want to reach her. She will not e-mail you back or answer her phone if you call. Worst On-line Class ever taken and I have taken many.
This is the worst online class I have ever taken. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS ONLINE!!! She posts grades weeks after the fact, tests are always late, you get absolutely no feedback on tests and there always seems to be a "technical issue". She does not answer emails or phone calls, I had to hunt her down on campus to talk to her and even then it was hard
Do not take her Online class, she never updates the grades or announcements. Numerous students try to contact her before withdraw date regarding their grade with no luck. Take at your own risk.
Do not take this class online. Communication at its worse, no updates for months. More than half a class dropped, remaining are struggling if not failing. The subject is not hard, but the teacher does not help or provide feedback.
PROF O'TOOLE IS AWESOME. SHE GOES ABOVE AND BEYOND TO HELP HER STUDENTS. YEAH SHE BAGS ON THE LAZY ONES--BUT HEY, SOMEONE HAS TO GIVE THEM A WAKE UP CALL! SHE IS VERY A VERY SMART WOMAN AND YOU'LL LEARN A LOT FROM HER. JUST READ BEFORE LECTURE AND DO THE HW!!!!
Professor O'Toole is extremely knowledgeable, passionate, & FIERCE.Her lectures are very basic and require participation & THOROUGH READING of the textbook to proficiently absorb the subject.Homework is assigned and, although not graded--a must! Grades consist of 4 unit tests & 1 comprehensive final.Grades on a curve & drops the lowest test score
She's pretty great and is there to help anyone who asks for it. People claimed she was "confusing" but if you don't READ and pay attention well then, no duh it's confusing! I even got help from her during office hours. She really is awesome. Wouldnt recommend if you want a push over teach, would recommend if youre willing to be a student. :)
AWESOME TEACHER TO HAVE FOR BUSINESS LAW. COME TO CLASS AND TAKE NOTES AND ALSO "MAKE SURE YOU READ" EVERY TEST HAS TWO MORE QUESTIONS FROM THE TEXTBOOK THAT SHE DOES NOT GO OVER IN CLASS!
Took online class with this teacher, but did not learn anything from her. I took this class it seems no teacher through the semester.I tried to email her several times, but got no reply,so I gave up.I paid for the class and my time, I actually need to s/o to ask question. If she couldn't handle the job, why didn't she lets somebody else does..
Took online class with her, but she was just worthless, did not teach not clear on everything, really confused. I paid for class and my time, I actually need someone that I can ask questions, I tried to send email several times, but got no reply. If she couldn't handle the job, just let someone else take the job!! She is NOT HELPFUL online class
Love Dr. O'Toole. I took her for a 6 week business law (while pregnant) and the only thing that saved me was doing ALL of my notes prior to lecture, then add as she spoke. She lectures straight from the book. Graded on the curve a bit. This woman knows what she is talking about, tho take her if you can handle the work!!!!
Be proud if earn A in this course -NOT easy but interesting. Key:use office hrs to understand why you got a test ? wrong;read b4 class (you will understand lectures better);attend all lectures;do homework;most of all, don't be intimidated. Prof generous, genuinely wants class to succeed;gives 100%;provides university level education.
Dr. O'Toole is the best professor I've ever had. She knows her subject is extremely helpful explaining things to the students. Take advantage of her office hours. I can't say enough good things about this professor. Tough class, but law is tough.
She's a lawyer teaching law, doesn't get better than that. Real life examples, follows the book, attendance is a must. Requires focus or else you're doomed. It's easy to get an A if you're actually up for a college level lecture!
Seemingly knowledgeable. Overly critical. Patronizing. Unapproachable. Spends much of lecture time lecturing everyone on how to be a student. I found her manner distracting from my objective.
Nice person & interesting subject but she will not adjust her teaching style for anyone- even if most of the class is struggling. If you are a good self-learner, dive into the book more than her notes. GET THE STUDY GUIDE. Tests are nothing like book review. Grades on a curve so that's nice. Final is doable. Could be a better teacher unfortunately.
Mrs. Otoole is a very knowledgeable and smart. However, she is a bit cocky and arrogant. Be ready to be insulted if your questions are not well formulated. She could be a great teacher but her personality get in the way
Took both of her classes, she is a lawyer teaching law.. of course she is going to be tough and critical. She wants you to think of Law as if it were your business the one you were defending. She is awesome and can make you feel intimidated but she is very approachable even in office hours. Best!!!
Very nice teacher. Keeps you interested in the subject. She really knows her stuff and makes it easier to learn. She does sometimes stray off topic to her opinion on some things but for the most part great. Homeworks not mandatory, tests are curved, and final is double. So if you try you can get an A.
If you're taking her for 18A its all multiple choice exams and 18B its . Not an easy class but she teaches how to be a critical thinker. She will drop an exam. If you're not doing great in the class but you get an A on the final you will get an A on the class. Awesome professor and great personality.
She is a really good teacher, she knows her stuff really well. But when she teaches it its as if we already know the stuff, and we don't. She is very sarcastic but she can be funny at times. Since she knows her stuff well she kind of get upset when we dont understand the material. She is intimidating so I never really asked anything.
An excellent teacher to take. Test are hard, but she may curve them if the class didn't do so well. She knows the information pretty well. Never argue with her because you will lose. Overall a great teacher. Thank's Sandra. Oh and by the way she is extremely good looking.
Seemingly knowledgeable. Overly critical. Patronizing. Unapproachable. Spends much of lecture time lecturing everyone on how to be a student. I found her manner distracting from my objective. Tests not to what she lectured on. Talks down to people and compares or children to her students that they are smarter than her students.
Prof O'Toole is a very inspiring professor. The class teaches you how to critically think. I took the 5 week course and there was A LOT of reading but if you really understand the big concepts you can apply them to any caseproblem you get. O'Toole may seem intimidating but she truly wants every one of her students succeed.
Dr. O'Toole is unlike any other professor I have ever had in LBCC. She seems intimidating at first but that's only because she has very high standards. She knows exactly what she's talking about and she isn't afraid to call you out if you don't seem like you care. That said, she will definitely take time to help you understand.
I took this class in community college. I am at the university now and have yet to find a professor who is as inspiring as this one. She is not intimidating, she is just clear on what she expects and does not tolerate slackers. Even though I took her years ago, I think everyone needs to take this class with her. The material stuck, learned so much.
I thought I was failing and got a C. Tough but means well. Seems intimidating but she's there for you.
Do yourself a favor and just sign up. She's an amazing professor. She sets you up for success if you WANT to succeed. She's funny, kind, and inspirational and ALWAYS there for you. Take advantage of office hours. She will go out of her way to make sure you get help if you ask for it. She's a hidden gem within LBCC. Love business law with O'Toole!
The absolute worst teacher at LBCC. Doesn't like 2 answer questions. Makes you feel stupid. Complains more than lecture about text. U R never prepared for exams no matter how hard you study. Unpleasant woman who enjoys being mean to students. She needs to be stripped of her teacher's license ASAP.
Prepare to be miserable. Makes students feel bad if ask questions. Snappy and angry all the time. Tests are difficult. Gives grades late and in class so after you view your grade if bad she'll make facial expressions so class will know. Always stress "use common sense" but tests makes absolutely no sense.
Alright Teacher, Although test are hard. If you read and study hard you'll be fine.
Read the chapter before you go to class, write down everything she says, then read the chapter again. It is the only way to pass this class. O'Toole does not mess around. I failed every test because I didn't listen to her when she said this is the way to study. I studied this way for the final and passed the class. This class is work.
Sandra is Loud. For a quiet student like me, this is tough. That said, many struggle with a course that I found simple. Approach it like a job. Do the reading. Show up to class. Do the homework, even though she doesn't collect it. Ask questions. Go to office hours for clarity. You will learn something valuable.
Choose another professor. Sandra is always just talking about her ego and makes you feel dumb if you ask questions. She goes on and on about how good of a student you're supposed to be. Makes me cringe just remembering. The book is a must. Choose her if you want to be lectured half the time on stuff that isn't the based on the textbook.
Prepare to read each chapter at least twice to pass an exam. Only way you'll pass this class is if you understand the laws and know how to apply them. Not a nice professor. Complains more about students than she actually teaches. Which is over the scope, as she says. Sadly, this is the only prof that teaches. Each exam is 50 questions long Goodluck
Ever wonder what its like to have an angry mom teach a class? She complains about students, how they should be studying, dragging it on half the lecture (riles herself up) then point a finger at you with questions expecting you to teach the class. She doesnt want to teach kids but shes still intolerant of college students. Learn elsewhere.
I don't understand why so many complain about her. It just says to me you're lazy. She's really there for you, and yes she has a strong personality but she's never rude just honest. One of the kindest people I've met and she is just very straight forward which most people need but don't like! Take her if you want to actually learn something at lbcc
Not hard at all. Do the work and you will pass. Workload not too heavy. Tests not hard.
Great teacher but tends to go off on rants a lot. Sometimes 40 mins long then complains we have no time to have lecture. But besides that, tests are doable 4 total, grades on a curve and drops lowest test score. You actually gotta read through the chapters.
Amazing professor and by far my favorite! Took both 18A & 18B. Dr. O'Toole really wants her students to succeed so she will pick on you to participate in class, kinda forcing you to read and know the material, which is a must anyways in order to pass. Teaches both classes in a similar way and she's lenient with her grading. Overall, a great person.
At first she may be too much to handle in reading all the chapters she assigns to read but you have to know your stuff because everything together is essentials to her exams. She could go on rants but it's funny so I didn't mind she will be loud and scream to you about what to do to be successful in her class. She does care even if others say othe
Dr. O'Toole is, in my opinion, one of the best professors at LBCC. She isn't for the faint of heart for she speaks her mind and has incredibly high expectations of her students. She comes across as mean and condescending, but she never said anything that was not true. Read the textbook, do the homework, and take advantage of her office hours!
Sandra O'Toole is a self-righteous person who WILL talk down to you if she sees a glimpse of weakness. She needs a lesson in putting herself in others' shoes. I remember her going on about her upbringing and even though she manipulated the story to seem like she had humility, it had an undertone of arrogance, displays her favoritism, be prepared
Prof. O'Toole is blunt, but she does teach the class the material needed, regardless of rants. Sitting in the front I was subject to scrutiny and I didn't pass the first exam but she helped me so much whenever I went to her office hours so she will help you. Don't let it get to you. She really does care. But you need to care too.
I would not recommend O'toole to anyone. She grades solely on tests . I would study for 20+ hours heading up to the exam and could not get higher than a B. She is extremely rude and puts students down, which makes for a hostile learning environment. If you ask a question she basically just tells you that you should already know it and wont explain
She doesn't collect HW but you wont pass if you don't do it. There'3 exams of 50 questions and the lowest score is dropped. No midterm and the final is 100 questions. you don't write any papers in BLAW-A but prepare to read ALL your chapters. theres no passing otherwise. Its not hard but its not an easy A
She tries to engage in the class and does help student outside of class. I am more of a test taker so the class grading was ideal for me. She is passionate about teaching and I actually took her for Bus Law-B. Prepare to read and pay attention in class. Put in the effort for the grade you want.
Currently taking Professor Toole for BusinessLAW18A and so far i am currently blown away at how much class time she uses to talk down and at her students. She by far uses her class time to talk more about poor students habits than actually teaching the material of the class. Really disappointing class.
Currently taking her course online. To date, the entire class has not heard a single word from her since the semester began. She made the announcement online to read the course info and get started back on August 24th and that's the last time anyone has heard from her. I have emailed asking for help but have been ignored. Worst professor ever!!
Some students don't like to work hard. They are lazy and wish for easy As. Because of this, they did not like this professor and rated her poorly. Professor O'Toole is a good professor who really teaches you how to comprehend and successfully work through difficult subject matter. Attend class and read the book, and you will do well.
I love this professor. Because of her, I am now heavily considering a law major. She keeps it very real and that can be intimidating to some, but it's only because she wants her students to succeed. If you aren't doing well through out the semester, but get an A on the final, you get an A in the class. Seems fair!
She actually cares for her student success but you have to work for it. Reading is a must in order to pass this class. Prepare to learn how to use your common sense. There is hW but not graded. 4 tests drops lowest. Curves all grades. Makes subject more engaging. Will put you on blast if you ar sleeping or make it seem obvious you didnt read.
Provided you can withstand her constant deviations during lecture as well as her compulsive need to be the center of attention, then you may just benefit from her class. She bears a striking resemblance to any fascist in that she considers her knowledge to be infallible and deals harshly towards anyone with the slightest criticism. Beware.
had her for business law 18A online and she was terrible. I emailed her 7 times within the semester about test and other material and she never got back to me once. and she also did not put my grades in for two of my exams and I had to go to a higher power to get it fixed
Dr. O'Toole is awesome and does NOT give a lot of h/w, but if you want to be succesful, you MUST read to comprehend, do the work, attend office hours! H/w consists of fact patterns, post chapter. There are, at most, 8 at a time. She is just a no nonsense professor, and passionate about the subject! Get an A on the final, you get an A in the class.
OToole was my favorite professor last sem! Shes got a super bold, outspoken personality youll learn more about the world than just what she lectures on. She has pretty clear and generally fair grading criteria, but she isnt an easy teacher IF you dont pay attention. Show up to lecture, and focus on UNDERSTANDING the content over memorization.
Based on past ratings, I suggest taking her in-class rather than online. The downsides of taking her class online is that she is so slow at inputting grades & she doesn't provide any feedback. She didn't even enter the grades I got on my last few assignments and my final onto canvas.
She is very professional lawyer and doing a good job as a teacher
Great subject and a great book, second time taking the professor. She makes you know the subject and puts you to the test.
Dr. OToole really cares about students and wants us to succeed in the real world. Shes blunt and tells it like it is which may intimidate people that are sheltered from reality. Shes always there for you if you look for her during office hours. Her grading system is more than fair and there is usually a curve on exams. You wont regret taking her
One of the rudest professors you will ever meet. She is very blunt and speaks her mind even if it is not nice. Reading and attendance is a must. If you skip one class, you will fail that test. She assigns homework that helps with tests, but it does not count towards your grade. Tests are timed. A 50 question test in 50 minutes.
Your grade depends on the four test and the one final given. Fifty minutes to answer fifty questions. She is rude and the worst professor I've ever had. I did not learn from them and had to take everything into my own hands. Half the class dropped, failed, or struggled for their grade. I would recommend a different professor.
Amazing professor. Tough but really gets your critical thinking in gear.
She is probably one of the worst professors I have ever taken. She is really disrespectful and rude and gives a lot of assignments she will rant on and on and wont go over the material till when the class is almost over. I will not recommend I passed the class with an A but I had to do so much reading since she wouldnt go over the material .
Do not get this professor... unless you don't care about your grade.
You must do the reading in order to pass the class or understand the material. Homework is easy but only if you complete the reading along with it. She is very willing to help students if they are willing to help themselves.
She is super slow on grading. It's 4 weeks into the class and nothing has been graded since week 1. Doesn't respond to emails but says she responds within 48 hours. Made us buy cengage to do assignments but none of the assignments were graded so it was a waste of $124 for cengage access that was completely unnecessary.
Dr.Otoole is one of my favorite teachers at LBCC so far. I took her Business Law class and passed with an A. Homework is optional and there are no graded assignments except for your 4 exam grades and your final exam. The class is simple, do the reading and listen to the lectures and you will pass.
The answer is He11 no! I hated her class so much. She's a horrible professor, she clearly does not take her job seriously. I think she could be a nice person generally, but I would avoid her class at all costs. Get ready to teach yourself.
A MUST take for any business student. She makes it clear that you cannot rely on memorization to succeed. This class is not difficult if you read and learn the material, you will start to see that most of this stuff is rooted in common sense. O'Toole has a shark mentality, not for the weak but she wants you to succeed and will show you how.
I LOVED this professor! She was funny, had great lectures and was an overall wonderful person in general. I would stay after her class to talk to her because she always had great advice. It's the lawyer in her. Anyway, only thing I thought was tough was maybe the quizzes. But if you read an hour a day then you should be fine.
she's def no nonsense mentality. exams focus on application of concepts, but the concepts are pretty simple and common sense imo. i didn't even open the textbook and got an A but you really need to attend those lectures and listen. she's very opinionated beyond the scope of the course which makes the class interesting and also annoying at times.
She's kind of an absent professor but her class is setup so you don't really need her. There's a lot of reading, a few exams, and 8 discussions. She gives you plenty of time to do the work.
Professor O'Toole is a tough but fair teacher. The workload is heavy, but she's willing to help if you put in the effort. I found unstuck ai and the textbook really helpful for studying and staying on top of the material.
Be ready to show up to every day of class. If you miss one class you need to go to the review session. This class has a very heavy workload and requires a lot of reading to pass. She is a tough and no-nonsense professor and is not afraid to call you out. Half the class will drop and she rounds the last test.
take her for winter or summer or late start classes that is online just read and use other outside resources that can help with some assignments and compose reading material quickly to refer back to it asap there is 3 exams 1 final. Work can be done all within less then 2 hours
Cengage error, didnt link with Canvas and couldn't getting any help. couldn't meet the timeline of these assignments so i reached out to the professor by the means she stated on he syllabus but she never responded. i will never take a another class that uses Cengage. Professor does not check her email timely.
I personally did not like the way Dr. O'Toole reached. She was very brazen and opinionated in ways that should not be for an academic professor. There were many times where she would shame students for their mistakes and it made the class a lot more difficult than it should have been.
you only have 4 exams where she drops the lowest score but thats the only thing that determines your grade. no homework graded or submitted. do NOT miss class. she makes her own exams so instead of wasting your time trying to read the huge textbook, listen to what she says and TAKE NOTES. the only extra credit was to go to bus club meetings.
Professor O'Toole is a tough teacher, but she is very supportive when you show that you're serious about passing the class and understanding the material. She definitely has high expectations and runs a structured classroom. I can say from experience that she is very strict, especially when it comes to being prepared and following directions.
grade reflects only 4 tests, attendance not mandatory (but don't miss a class)...good luck
The professor teaches without PowerPoints or visual aids, speaks quickly, which can make it hard to keep up, especially if you're a visual learner. She has a strict rule of NO RESTROOM. Lastly, she often shares strong MAGA opinions, a professor should focus on the course material rather than imposing personal beliefs, but that's not the case here.
Lots of textbook reading and videos to watch. Gives plenty of examples to understand the material. Assignments and quizzes due every Sunday and discussion posts due every other week. She does not record any video lectures and I didn't find a need to email her or ask her for support.
Intense, particular & difficult to learn from. Cohesive lectures that give example to specific situations, but forget about asking questions. Rambling in-between lectures makes it difficult to keep attention, but keep focus, only time to obtain info is in lecture or textbook. Entire grade depends on 4 tests taken through the course. Unaccessible.
I loved having her as a teacher! She is strict, but it's coming from a good place. Try to be objective and not take things personal because they aren't. She wants you to read to understand. If you can find a way to make it make sense for you, read and reread, look up other resources like quizzes, and see during her office hours. You'll be great!
Overall not great, takes long for emails to grading assignments. The other reviews about them are about right even though this class I took is online, which says a lot. Plus $120 for an online book for the course is mental.
