Tests always include IV/DV essay, multiple choice tricky sometimes.

Very good lectures. Make sure you read the book as tests depend heavily on it. Tests are also quite tricky. Know your 'World Views' as they seem to show up on every test ever.

Great professor! I would take her again any day! She makes you work hard and makes you think, but you learn a lot! Make sure you use the study guide and read the book. I wish I could take more of her classes!

Attendance is required, however, she is good professor. Make sure to read the book and buy the study guide even though it is not required. The tests mostly are off the book. She gets into her lectures and tells amusing stories. The class also had three papers but they were easy. I recommend her.

Very interesting class and topics. Lots of writing and reading, but she does a really good job of making you think about life. Make sure that you have the time to devote to this class because it requires alot of work, but the teacher is great and the class can be if you participate!

Great professor. The class wasnt too bad. if you show up everyday and take notes you'll do fine. the book is kind of helpful if you actually read it. prof is easy to distract into long conversation on certain topics. very helpful

Can't imagine the course being taught any better. Not the easiest class, but the material isn't easy. Very useful information!

Her lectures are decent. She never covers everything on the test. You are expected to learn it yourself. If you take good notes, that doesn't mean you will get a good grade on the test. If you read the book, you will get a decent grade on the test.

I really enjoyed this class. She's a great prof. and her lectures are not boring. Although, the papers are very easy, the tests are very difficult.

I had her this summer and the class is fun and interesting. You have to read all the material and put time into your journals. The journals help for when you do your exams and paper. Very helpful class for those who are psych majors!

This professor was excellent. She is challenging, but it is supposed to be that way at the University. She teaches you things that you might not otherwise be exposed to. She was really nice, and even wrote me a letter of recommendation for graduate school! Take this professor!

Professor Portko is great! She teaches the material in this class in a way that makes you think about a lot of things you've never thought about before. This class had a lot of reading and was pretty difficult. Final and Midterm were all Essay-takes a lot of time to finish. But the class and this prof overall are great! Would highly recommend it!

Overall, an excellent prof! Her tests are extremely difficult, but they really help you learn. My best advice is to read over the chapters thoroughly. She goes over some of the key concepts in class, but there isn't enough time for everything. She really cares about her students and knows a lot about her field.

Nice teacher, knows what shes talking about. Sometimes she goes off on crazy tangents, but pay attention and it may help you to understand. Did not buy the book and still managed a B, so yeah, not impossible.

Very good prof. She can answer any question you have, but her tests are difficult. Read the text and take good notes, and you will be fine. The oberservation paper is easy, if you took notes. I would take her again.

If you are a Jungian PSY, take her. She is the only on campus. She is a great woman. She makes you think, her test are essay and easy. She is here for her students on anything. We use to chat after class about things. She is such a good Proph. I would love to be able to take her again.

She is an awesome instructor. If you want to learn, read and apply the concepts. She is flexible and non-traditional student friendly.

It was a fun class. The tests were a lot harder than I thought they would be based on how the class was run. She really cares about the students. Overall I would recommend her, just make sure to study all the details of the readings before the test.

She expains the material well. Gives a lot of examples. Exams are not hard at all, but not "easy" either. One of my best profs so far.

Lectures can be kind of boring but the material is pretty good. The tests aren't too hard but they aren't easy. I highly recommend buying the supplementary book for the tests, it helped me out a ton. Dr. Portko is really nice and helpful.

She is a great teacher. Had her once and can still go to her for any problem that I have. Hands down the best teacher I've had thus fat

She was a great prof., maybe a little more work, but totally worth it in order to learn the material. She makes every lecture material relatable by giving examples of own life. If you are really interested in child development, take her!

The book and the First article is everything she uses. She is very approachable and willing to meet with you whenever possible. If the work is put in and you will do well.

Lecture was boring but she took attendance so you have to go. The tests were straight out of the book so make sure you know the book really well!!!

She made so many mistakes in grading and will lower people's grades if she made a mistake. She is often unavailable on many important weekends when students may need help such as when we had a 12 page paper due and finals. I recommend buying the study guide and reading the book carefully which helped me. Save your GPA and take a different professor

Everyday is a lecture. Two ten page essays are required and its based on grammar mostly. Tests are mostly out of the book and are fairly hard. She was nice but I worked really hard to only get a B

Prof. Portko was an awesome professor. She is really nice and even let our class buy the outdated textbook because it was cheaper. Her tests really aren't that hard if you read the textbook. The tests are multiple choice and essay. She gives extra credit on essays if you give her extra info then what she's asking for. I would recommend her!

I like the professor because she was direct in what she wanted, I understood what to study and she was easy to understand when it comes to her "style" of teaching. The class was about adorable growing babies, so that was a plus!
