unorganized, moves too fast, keeps talking after class is over, expects too much
Very odd person
her class is all over the place...she spends most classes talking about herself
Completely unorganized and in love with herself. A terrible class!
It's like Halloween everyday!
Very personable and outgoing.

Didn't really help me in the class...she talked a lot about herself and liked to keep us after class with her talking.
Great enthusiasm for her subject. Her syllabus has consistently followed the text. If anyone falls behind, they only need to refer the syllabus.
Reynolds is way too difficult, no one should ever take her class unless they have already taken the same language class in high school. She takes off full points for one misplaced or misdirected accent, and she grades the cultural work way to roughly.
She is the worst teacher I have ever had. She talks about herself all the time. Her tests are random. You never know what to expect. She marks projects on her feelings not facts. If you have not taken a similar class in high school don't take hers. She is a very bad bad teacher.
After attending numerous colleges and universities, this woman is the reason why Community Colleges are given a bad name. Never in my educational career have I encountered a professor as unprofessional, disorganized, ignorant and downright offensive as Laurie Reynolds.
As a student with a 4.0 GPA over 5 years of colleges classes, I clearly do not have any difficulty with college level course work. However, learning a foreign langauge(something I was interseted in prior to my experience with Ms Reynolds) she should change careers.
I took her a few semesters ago and I learned more about her personal life than anything else. She does not teach. she goes overthing once and expects you to just learn it. The tests were very hard because half the things we did not learn.
Good Teacher (despite the difficulty of her subject matter). She's extremely enthusiastic about life and incorporates this feeling into her lessons. She not only focuses on the language but the culture of the people (according to her own experiences). She's helpfull and understands that the language isn't easy...LOTS of extra credit. I got 2 B+'s.
I liked class! it was fun and for the most part, easy for me...i passed with flying colors and i didnt let her personality get in the way of me learning... i liked the way she conducted class, it was laid back...nice environment
very helpful, she moves through the class fast and does expect you to know it right away. She constantly gives tests but she also gives a lot of extra credit to make up for it. She wants you to pass and is more than willing to help you out.
I got a good grade in this class but I'm just wondering when the authorities are going to take her away? Coo Coo....Coo Coo. What a psycho!
I had to take her for 103 because nobody else teaches french at this place. Now Ihave her for 104 and i wish i was dead. They should pay me to sit threw this misery. she is queen community college
Interesting lady, to say the least... But she's very nice and is not that hard of a grader. Gives extra credit and has really weird stories she tells about France.
More energy and enthusiasm than anyone I've met. A lot of work, but a lot of opportunity to do well if you screw up. totally approachable. doesn't give you a chance to 'hide'. makes the class into a family. loved it!
Prof. Reynolds is super nice. She doesn't assign a ton of homework and does a great job teaching French culture as well as the language. She has a lot of experiences to share and she makes her class very interesting. If you get on her good side, she will love you and you will find her to be an easy grader. If you are snotty to her, she'll give it right back to you. Like it should be!
She was completely disorganized, always forgot what we had worked on/were going to work on. She lost homework all the time & was absent without notice repeatedly. All she did was talk about herself & men. She wasn't interested in her students or their academics. Her lessons were scattered & incomprehensible. Very irresponsible. Worst teacher ever!
She is a terrible language teacher. She talks about herself more than the course, assigns work and never remembers what's due. She gives "extra credit", but don't think you're gonna get anything "extra" on your grade. If she would be more organized and less narcissic (behave like a teacher)she could work wonders because she does know French. Avoid.
what a freak
I had taken spanish in high school, so I was apprehensive about switching to french. Overall, I though She was a good teacher. Much better then the hum-drum teachers I had for spanish. She tends to be eccentric, but if you make an honest effort to do well, you should be fine.
She explained the French language as well as the culture really well and while she assigned a lot of homework she was pretty flexible when it came to handing them in. She was never absent although she was regularly 5-10 minutes late. She made the class fun and was funny and kind.
What a floozy. Hated her, horrible teacher. Your grade reflects nothing you do in class,if she likes you, ur an A/B. If she doesn't...pray for a C.
I enjoyed her classes. Lessons were hard and sometimes she would teach the same lesson twice, but it makes sense if you just study the material. I know she's ecentric, but I thoroughly enjoyed her class. They were challenging and, believe it or not, I actually learned French that stuck. Never thought I would. Good job Prof.
Very down to earth and has a great sense of humor. She cares about her students and wants to help you succeed in class unlike some other RVCC professors I've had. She allows you to redo assignments that you did poorly on to improve your grade which I thought was cool. I had fun going to her classes and would definitely recommend her.
I have her for Spanish 2 and I havent had the final yet However I know Im going to pass In fact if you fail, that is your own fault She lets you make up the tests any time, lets you do corrections to a C grade if you fail, and accepts homework at any time. She is very sociable yes, but at least she isnt dull. And hey, its hard to teach a language.
She is a really nice person, but I had a heart time learning from her teaching style. It is fair to say that I was HORRIBLE at languages before her class, so nothing's really changed. There is a lot of work, but she usually allows you to make up work.
This class was a lot harder than French I. She taught it at a faster pace, although there is a fair amount of review as you go.
Loved this teacher! We were laughing at something in every class, be it ourselves our a story she was telling us. Knew the material well, and it showed. I was in the hospital for 2 weeks, and she brought me flowers from her and the whole class while I was in, as well as a card! Fantastic teacher, can't wait to take her again next semester!
I love the language and have taken it for several years prior to college. Yet this class confused me on everything I had once learned. Teacher is all over the place, confusing, and unsuccessful at properly teaching a language. If you're genuinely interested, take smeting else becasue she's he only teacher for French.
S. Laurie isn't very helpful or effective when trying to teach Spanish I. She is all over the place, full of herself and rude. RVCC has 2 Spanish professors and they are both not good teachers. I would take intro to Spanish somewhere else if you must.
I disagree with many of the reviews here. No it's not an easy course but honestly Prof. Reynolds makes it fun to learn. Review and worksheets are done in class. She is fair and understands the language well.
I switched out of ellen mcardle's class into laurie reynold's class. I find her to relaly jump around, but honestly if you pay attention in class and write down everything on the board, you'll do fine. She hands out assignment lists which tell you the homework and learning for the next 3 weeks.
I had her for French 101 and 102. I had never taken french before. She jumps around, speaks fast and teaches at a very fast pace. Long quiz, dictee, and workbook for each chapter along with classwork every class period. She is funny and a very interesting person but do not take her if you are not good at foreign languages.
I had professora reynolds for intro to spanish one, a class that I had not originally placed into. Its a great class for people who know little to no spanish. She was a ton of fun always giving us cool information and relating her experiences in countries like spain to what we studied. She is an awesome teacher who i hope i have again :)
Funny and extremely helpful. She wants all her students to pass and do theirbest. Enjoyed her class would take again.
Prof Reynolds is a great person, and knows what she's doing, just doesn't relay what she knows that well to you. She won't start off with basic vocab, and you'll learn about professions before who or what. BUT she writes good notes on the board, and if I went to Paris I can now order a hot chocolate. (But not ask for a bathroom, Ce la vie)
Love Prof. Reynolds! This is my last semester taking her & I'm truly sad about not having her for French anymore. She's hilarious & makes learning the language extremely fun. She grades fairly & isn't tough about it because she's aware that learning languages isn't easy for everyone. She's lovely & always keeps the class entertained!
I fully recommend Prof. Reynolds to anyone who has no Spanish experience! Her class moves at a pace that is easy to understand. While she does use the online textbook/workbook, she offers you the option to buy the physical text to save some money! She' s flexible in grading and accepting late work! As long as you make a real effort, you will pass!
Great class!
Loved this class. What a great experience!
Made learning a language fun! Lot of group work and it was nice meeting people! You so rarely do that in classes these days.
Great class. It was tough. I'd take it again.
Great teacher!
Ms Reynolds class was tough but there is always something new and we're always doing something. I thought it would be dull, but class just flies by. I loved the pair work and even the group work could be funny. We'd always have a good laugh.
Took French in high school, this class was a breezr!
Great class
This professor makes taking spanish a walk in the park. She talks a lot and sometimes very quickly but is super funny. She does give a lot of exams but if you pay attention in class you will pass with no problem. There is a bit of homework but it really does help you prepare for the tests. She is a great professor. Highly recommend her :)!!!
Good teacher, emotional grader. Must cooperate and get along with teacher for good grade
Looks, teaches, coursework is all trash. When are they going to lock this psycho up
Great class I'd take another class but I'm transferring to Rutgers!
Very demanding. But a great class
A great advanced class. Very considerate and kind.
Good class I would take another class but I've completed my 2 semester requirement and there's no room in my schedule
I learned a lot of French and was amazed at how quickly I could learn. We spoke a lot in groups and we got to write a cookbook and a journal. It was fun altho' a lot of work. I'm a stay at home mom but I'm sure if I had to work this class would have been time-consuming.
I had her for Intermediate Spanish I. I could see that she had an exceptional interest and regard for the learning of her students. There was a lot of group class work. Some work did not have a clear purpose and she is definitely opinative. However, she is a good teacher and easy to get along with. Her classes were less boring than most.
I took her for two semesters back to back for french. The amazing thing about her teaching style is that translates to any classroom, from princeton on down. Very understanding, and relatable in a grounded sense. highly recommend
Madame Reynolds is such a sweetheart. She's one of the most interesting people I've ever met. In class, she really does care about her students and will give you the resources you need to pass and understand. With that being said, her teaching style is sporadic and I would wish for more structure next semester.
I would NEVER take her again. Only ended up with her because the professor we were supposed to have got bumped to another class. She's the most disorganized professor I've ever had, losing student assignments and faulting students. She tells her students that they are "too good" at spanish resulting in bad grades. If she doesn't like you good luck
Show up on time and do your work, converse with her and she will like you. She does international trips often and they are a good test of linguistic ability. Finals are super simple.
I love her!! She is so fun and really helps you form an understanding of what France is like and how their culture differs from ours. It was so exciting to hear about all she is doing because she is a very active and engaged person. She inspires me so much as she travels often and is extremely adventurous, and positive. One of my favorite teachers.
Professor Reynolds is a truly inspiring teacher. Although it wasn't my intention to keep taking French, I am going to do so to stay in her class. It's obvious that she cares about teaching the material and not just testing for a grade, and she provides several opportunities for students to make up work/ extra credit so you will succeed. Recommend
She is the worst teacher I have ever had in my entire life. She is rude, very unorganized and I learned limited to nothing from her, I mostly taught myself. She neglects to speak in English so no one ever knows what's going on and if I had to take her again I would rather just miss that credit and suffer the consequences later. Don't take her class
She turned me off to french, a language a truly wanted to learn
Madame Reynolds is an amazing teacher ! She not only teaches you a new language, she submerges her students in culture and teaches you about all the little details of the language from history to pop culture. Shes is very knowledegable and her class is always fun. I look forward to her class every week. She is just amazing
Really great professor, great at explaining things when you dont understand. As long as you put in the effort then youll be fine, shes a really easy grader as long as the work gets done. Has great sense of humor and really lightens the mood of the classroom
She is nice but her online class is very disorganized. It can be very hard to reach her and takes forever to email back. A lot of homework and very time consuming!!! Please don't take her online class if you want to actually learn French. Do not recommend
Professor Reynolds was very helpful during the COVID-19 epidemic when classes went virtual. She was well-organized. She was one of the few teachers I had that kept us upbeat and motivated. She insisted on keeping the class times in zoom to not only keeping our learning going but also to keep a routine since many teachers just threw in the towel .
Very versatile. She was very helpful during live to virtual transition -during Spring 2020 during Coronavirus. She worked hard to keep class going and interesting. She was actually more interesting virtual then live. We did a lot more speaking activities and pair work which changed the dynamics of the class a lot.
She was an amazing professor and made french fun for me!
I've just opened the online class and it's extremely disorganized. I've been dissecting all of the different pieces of information in modules and assignments in the class and I can't figure out what she wants us to do outside of setting up duolingo.
Very disorganized online class. Not very sure what she wants us to do. Everything seems very bunched together in a disorganized way, and the only two things I could make of the class is that she wants us to set up a duolingo and quizlet account. Other than that the class is too disorganized to know what to do.
I dread the rest of the semester. The lessons are so disorganized and I spend most of my time tryung to find where the info she is teaching us is in the modules and deciphering what she is asking us to do in the excessive amounts of work she assigns. She relies mostly YT and broken links to teach the class. I'm a working adult and I'm wasting time
Prof. Reynolds' class is always engaging and fast-paced, keeping the material interesting without feeling overwhelming. She has clear expectations and her fair grading makes it easy to succeed, especially with the online tests and dictations on Canvas.
I love how Prof. Reynolds keeps the class fun and interactive while maintaining a good pace. Though she assigns homework, it's manageable, and her willingness to help students who fall behind really makes a difference.
Prof. Reynolds is an understanding and supportive professor. Her class moves quickly but is never difficult to keep up with, thanks to her fair grading system and helpful online resources. She truly cares about her students' success.
The class with Prof. Reynolds is always enjoyable! The material is presented in an exciting, fast-paced way, and while there's homework, it's not too hard. She's fair, and if you ever fall behind, she's more than willing to work with you.
Prof. Reynolds creates a positive and motivating learning environment. Her class is fast-paced but fun, with manageable homework. Her online Canvas tests and dictations are fair, and she's always available to help if you need extra support. She let me turn in homework late when my son got sick a few times.
Prof. Reynolds is a great professor! Her class is fast-paced but enjoyable, with a good amount of homework to reinforce what we learned. She's fair with her grading, and I appreciate that she's always available—whether through daily Zoom office hours, live sessions, or even with access to her personal cellphone.
I really enjoy Prof. Reynolds' class! The material is interesting and moves at a good pace, and the homework is manageable. Her online tests and dictations on Canvas are straightforward. She's very understanding and always makes time for her students, offering Zoom office hours every day and even sharing her cellphone number.
Prof. Reynolds is an amazing professor! Her class is enjoyable and moves at a reasonable pace. The homework isn't too tough, and her online tests are fair. She offers daily Zoom office hours and is always ready to help, even sharing her cellphone number for any questions or comments.
New semester, same awful online course layout. Assigns ~6 assignments a week that all take forever to do, and every video posts are from 2020. She also blocks you from knowing what grade you have until end of sem. Her only pro is that she's easy to reach out to and is always willing to help you, I just think she isn't the most tech savvy person.
Extremely messy is the first thing I can think of and all I like to warn other studens. She is so disorganized, all homework she copied from A to Z online and there will ALWAYS be typos even in the exams. No past exams are opened to review. No grades upgrade. The class is disaster!
Professor Reynolds is kind and caring. She knows that learning a new language is hard and she grades pretty leniently. Her canvas is definitely a bit messy. I took her twice (I failed the first time cause of mental issues). The second time was last year. If you use Duolingo to help you through her class, you'll pass the final exam no problem.
Good class. We did alot of group work so you get to know everyone. Class is laid back, although there is alot of homework but it's only due every 2 weeks so I could work around that. Teacher was also easy to reach and got back to me quickly when I had a question. I will take her again.
I took this class as a dual enrollment when I was still in high school, so maybe I wasn't accustomed to the amount of work a college class gives, but it was too much for me (on top of my other classes). That being said, she is able to explain grammar very well. She isn't a native Spanish speaker but obviously still very capable. I recommend!
Professor Reynolds turns the classroom into a social gathering by forcing her students to converse and rub their collective two braincells together in an attempt to win a Quizlet. She doesn't focus on pronunciation or grammar, so it's hard to know if you learned anything by the end of the class, but you pass somehow.
