She is a very good teacher. Everything she writes on the board is what is going to be on the test. Made me understand statistics. And what can I say...I got an A.
Great Teacher, The type of problems she gives you in class are the same type as the ones she puts on your test. Made stats extremely easy to learn, as long as you can use your TI-83 you are fine.
Excellence Instructor, I recommend her. She explains well and her grading system is easy and fair. Although she is very anal about homework, she is an overall great instructor. She will make your semester in Math 102 easy. Plus she is very HOT!!!!!
OMG if u have the choice TAKE THIS TEACHER. i got an A in math for the first time in 4 years. Dont be rude in class, she hates rude ppl and DONT CHEAT. if she catches u its over...and she WILL catch u. Take the class with friends itll be more fun.
Highly recommended. If math is not your subject, she makes it more understandable. Do your homework and be ready to discuss problems you are having. Take good notes.
I highly recommend this teacher. She is not too strict but not an easy teacher either. Just make sure you do the hw assigned and the projects and try your best on the test and you'll pass!! Romero is great
She makes it clear what you need to know on the test. There are some project (We did 3 projects) and she makes it really interesting. If you need to take the Statistic!! Don't hesistate Just take her If you miss to take her stat. class you will regret!!
Being an English major-I'm horrible in Math. First time in my life I have ever received a B in math. Let alone Stats. She is extremely clear, consistent, and helpful. The calculator does all the work for you. The best math teacher you could ask for. NOT an easy teacher, but very easy to comprehend. HIGHLY recommended.
She is very good teacher. She explain everything very well, even I didn't open my textbook (it is complicated). She is not wasting time. If you want to really know statistcs this class for you. + you need to study every day at least 1 hour. Remember statistics is not easy class overall.
She makes Statistics easy, she goes over everything you need to know, her tests are from her notes and examples, study those and the class will be fine
She is a great teacher. She teaches very well! She is so cute she looks younger than her students! I ended up with a C and I am horrible with Math. If you pay attention and put in effort you can totally get an A! She is understanding and caring!
I love this teacher! She is so clear, kind, very helpful, and very organize. I got A in her class. Just do your homework, turn it in on time and listen to all her lecture and you'll be okey. Im the type of student who hate math but, when I took her class math now is my favorite subject. take her and you'll knw what I'm talking about. Take her.
a very easy class. If you study hard, you should have no problem of getting an A.

i would say that she is the one of the best teachers ever.she know what she is teaching and its always clear to understand... would defenetly incourage you to take her class the best ever..........
She is the best math professor I've ever had, I hate math and I still found this class easy and she was very helpful! TAKE HER
I GOT A B, BUT STILL, I DON'T RECOMMEND HER. SHE IS THE WORST MATH TEACHER I'VE EVER HAD. DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO TEACH. THIS CLASS IS SUPPOSED TO BE THE BASIC OF STATISTICS ONLY, BUT SHE THINKS YOU ARE A STATISTICIAN AND MAKE THE EXAMS SO HARD FOR YOU.
She is an excellent teacher. She is very clear and explains very well. If you dont get something she will help you understand it. I highly recommend her!
SHE IS THE ONLY PROFFESSOR TO LET YOU USE THE CALCULATOR FOR 90% OF THE WORK. SHE IS CARING, UNDERSTANDING AND IT WAS A PLEASURE TO HAVE TAKEN HER, I SAY IT BY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE. BECAUSE OF HER, I WAS ABLE TO GRADUATE THIS JUNE.
Sandra Romero is one of the best math teacher at GCC. She explains step by step without copying from the book. On each test she gives a looooot extra credit. She explains very well. I got an "A" from her class because of her. DON'T BELIEVE ANYBODY ELSE, TAKE HER CLASS AND YOU WILL SEE THE RESULT.
I got a B in her class & she explains the material very well. Dedicate urself to HW ,studying, & Attendance, (it is obviously imp cause if u miss a day its hard to get a well explained example from someone in class) There were alot of people who did bad but it was their own fault, dont blame the professor!!! take her over any other option
doesn't give much homework online. i really try in this class... one time i didn't bring my book to class and we had to do problems from it that day so she told me i should get to work share. when i did do this she said i wont get credit, i said she didnt need to give me credit for today, she said so pack up and leave the class.
She is a good teacher and math 136 is perfect for those not particularly liking math to begin with. I recommend taking her!
shes kind of a ****. neveeeeeeer takes role! her class is pretty easy and she explains things if you need help. homework is super easy its online
i took romero for both math 120 and 136. i took me 3 years to get through alg then i took her and completely passed. i actually was able to learn with her. her lesson plans are insanely helpful but you need to go to class. i got an A in stats. shes very sweet but doesnt have time to reteach things because she teaches at 4 different schools at once
Horrible. Doesn't care about any emergency that a student can get. Looking for an opportunity to tell a student he is useless and can never succeed. She doesn't care about her students. Tests are hard, explanations - bad (just writes on the board all the classtime). Has issues and takes it out on her students. Don't take her! Save urself a semester
i took romero during the summer intersession...and im not a math person at all...not even close...i went to class everyday and listened and payed close attention to her notes...and studied and practiced at home and got a high A in her class! she made me like stats because she didnt add any tricks on the test so it makes you like the class
Best teacher I've had so far at GCC. Could not be more organized or clearer in presentation. She can be strict (esp with grading) but the expectations are clear. You get your work/tests back the next day! Not all Qs were answered well, but it seemed like this was a result of needing to get all the material into a summer session. Highly recommended.
this teacher seems good at first ... but once you take her tests you'll regret you took her ... she marks you off for the stupidest mistakes ... she's not fair at all ... and don't even waste your time talking to her about your grade ... what she thinks is right is final you can't change her mind ... i wish i never took her
what would u say if u tell her that a close relative of urs passed away n she says "THEN DROP THE CLASS" ? she doesn't care about her students, the only thing she wants to do is to make as many students as possible drop the class so that she gets paid for checking 5-6 tests instead of 45-46! also, the classes r boring (copying from the whiteboard)
I took Romero for a summer Stats class and really enjoyed it. I had taken statistics once before and struggled with the teacher, but Romero was extremely clear and organized. If you have questions, she'll help you, but sometimes gets impatient - she's brilliant, what can I say? - Oh, she's pretty funny, too
talk about in your own world, but is a fair grader, not very helpful. pay attention and do the assignments, completely homeworks helps a lot.
She is a very good teacher, this coming from someone who does not like math. Coming to every class is important since she explains at least 2 sections per class and gives clear examples that you'll want to take notes of then its on to the next section. You will learn in this class and she does attendance. Show up, take notes and you will pass.
Here is the deal... It's math so obviously you have to put in the effort. I hate math and have stuggled with it forever, but the way she explains everything is amazing. She doesn't take **** and you HAVE to show up to class, cause she goes over a lot. If your looking for an easy A this is not the class, but she is an awsome teacher.
SHE IS AN AWESOME PROFESSOR!! I do not like math and I suck at it but I paid attention in class, and studied for my tests and got a high B in the class. There is not a lot of homework just six for the whole semester which is nothing for a four unit class. HIGHLY RECCOMENDED!!
She is a fair grader with extremely clear lectures. HOWEVER, she does have some personal issues, does not make eye-contact (unprofessional & kinda creepy) and has an overall condescending tone. Overlook her terrible personality and study you'll do fine.
Math is not my best subject, but she is a fair grader. Later on in the class you might have to read the book, and you may not know where you are at. She teaches from the board and her notes but there are many different formulas that are worth learning
SELECTED ALLIANCE OF GERMANS FOR LIFE!!!!!!!! ROMERO FOR LIFE!
this teacher is straight foward never really simles speaks monotone but gives great organized notes which is exactly on the tests. yes you will have to study the notes and hw but theres no B.S. from her which is cool about her if you cant pass your really not trying
SHE IS REALLY SMART AND IF SHE NOTICES THAT YOU LIKE HER CLASS SHE WILL HELP YOU. NOT AN EASY A...YOU'LL HAVE TO SOLVE TRICKY PROBLEMS AND A GRUOP PROJECT. EXAMS ARE LOOONG.SHE IS GOOD AND THIS IS LIKE A UNIVERSITY CLASS
Romero's really cool. Make it to each class and pay attention. Her way of teaching might seem repetitive-- but it really comes in handy when you're taking a test and you can remember her lectures off the top of your head. She's cool and funny in a surprising way. She also loves sports, especially baseball!
Very well educated and organized teacher. She is also fair grader and appreciate students work. Got A+
my lord she is THE BEST TEACHER EVER!!! HELPFUL, CRYSTAL CLEAR. TAKES TIME TO EXPLAIN,fair grader, only 3 hw assignments, tests are easy..you would be the craziest person on the planet if you dont take her
She is a great teacher. I got an A and I didn't even try as hard as in my Math classes. All u need to do is just to listen everything she says. Just read ur notes before test and u gonna be fine. She gives extra credit and her project is a good opportunity to get an A.
Wow what an amazing teacher. Im pretty bad at math but Im a good student, I did get an A in the class, you dont need the book just come to class and listen and study the handouts/notes and ull do fine. She really is a good teacher and explains very well and you can always ask questions. I just studied before tests but I know the material very well
Worth taking, but make sure you mention EVERYTHING on her tests. Wording does matter.. she checks hw on test days and has 4 tests. She replaces the lowest test score with the final test's score (if it's higher). Explains very well. I got an A, but it is not an easy A.
If you're scared to take statistics because everyone says it's hard don't worry about it. Sandra understands everyones not a math major. So she makes everything crystal clear. You only need a book to do hw. And you don't need to buy an expensive calculator. She also teaches you with excell. Overall, amazing, knowlegable professor.
DONT MISS CLASS. If you must miss classes then do it in the beginning of the school session and not in the middle or end. Better yet, study when it gets difficult and IT DOES GET DIFFICULT. I was lucky enough to pass the class and I am so happy I did. I could have done better though if I was attending more often
DON'T TAKE HER! she can't teach and her notes are not useful. I love math but she made me hate math because I couldn't understand a word she says. I studied really hard by my self on youtube and finally managed to get a B.
I was so scared to take Stats but she makes it very clear and understandable. The only issue I have with her is that even though she explains clearly, she does not go out of her way to help the confused students who need additional help. Or it might be her monotone non smiling attitude that gives that vibe. Other than that she's probably the best
I love math got an A in Precal and Calc 1 but I hated this class. She is so monotone and demanding. In her test I always felt like Im writing a book cauz she wants you to leave nutting out. Her test are so long and made the final even longer. Plus she treats students as if they are still in high school. Gd thing I passed
she the best of the bests.
Go to class, pay attention, take notes and you'll do more than fine. Never opened the book, she lectures you on everything you need to pass the class. If you get anything lower than an A something is wrong with you.
Amazing
The best Math teacher in Glendale Community College.
Worst math teacher out there. I love math and struggled in this class to pass. Tests are nothing like what we work on in class.
Boom isn't used. Lots of group works but aren't worth anything. Wish I didn't take it. Hard grader. Treats students like kindergartners,
Just don't take it honestly I don't know why she her great average is an A on this website. She can't pronounce anything correctly, grade is based only on the tests. Her lectures are long and pointless. She treats her students like kindergarteners.. Phone away. No talking and all she does is scream and yell. She's very frustrating to deal with.
She tends to give a lot of group works and constantly nag about students not being on time and doing well. She just creates a bad vibe and environment to be in.
No partial credit. Tough grader I didn't pass my test over wording the answer right. Literally instead of saying we are 99% sure this will happen" I wrote "there's 99% chance this will happen" and didn't get the points. Lol. Don't waste your time studying cause she'll find a reason not to give you the points.
Worked hard all semester long and I'm barely getting a C. Great.
She does explain everything you need to know. you will pass the class by just reading her notes. The only problem is that she is very hard grader, and she will try her best to find errors in your test. good luck passing the class if she doesn't like you.
she is one my favorite teachers. material is kind of confusing but she explains everything in the best way i have ever seen. clarity is 100%
You won't need the textbook for this class because Prof. Romero will explain everything thoroughly. Her tests only have the concepts covered in class. There are no surprises. She is a bit nitpicky about rules like no drinks near the computers. But who wouldn't be if they were the one to be responsible for the damages if a spill does occur?
Her class is very simple and this comes from a student that took STAT many times and failed. there is no homework. If I could go to her class every time and just by listing to the lectures and not doing any homework or study get B. Every one can pass her. She explains really well if you go to class and listen and not text you will learn and pass100
She is a great professor who is VERY clear. She explains everything well. I took her for both 131 and 136 because I enjoyed her class that much! Tests are clear, straight to the point, and all material covered in class. Show up, pay attention, and you'll get a good grade.
Her first couple of tests are fine then in the middle of the sem it gets harder and more confusing. She doesn't help you out as much. Her lectures are kind of backwards, mostly based on questions you didn't understand from the hw but then the hw has many things you don't go over in lecture so...? It's frustrating but she is a good prof otherwise.
Basically lecture is 2+24. Homework is 6 x 212. Tests are 8 x 382942908930829.
Math is math. She helps you and will answer your questions. Her tests are about 15 questions. She'll give you the option to do your homework online or on paper. She does her best to teach the class.
She's a great professor, very clear, very helpful, I really liked her class and learned a lot. Got an A in her class!
She is the great professor and very helpful, she goes with every details and step by step. always answer your questions and very patient!.
Sandra Romero is by far the best professor in math that I have seen at Glendale Community College. I took her for Math 100 and passed with an A. I also took her for Math 102 WINTER and I passed with a B. DO NOT SKIP CLASS if you want to understand the lectures and be prepared for a lot of homework. Once you do both you will pass easily.
great professor! she is good at explaining and if you ask questions she will help you out, good attendance is mandatory though! she's really nice and good at helping you understand things i suck at math and i liked how she explained things!
She is a very smart women, really knows statistics inside and out, tests hard not easy.
She made me math lover. Nothing better than this. Thanks dear professor.
Wouldn't want to take statistics with any other professor. Lectures are clear and she makes it easy to understand. Statcrunch will be your bestfriend. Attendance is important!! If you don't come to class you won't understand the material. Old tests are extremely helpful study guides.
One of the best professors that I have ever had at Glendale Community College. She is caring and willing to help if she notices you are doing what you are told to do. She explains everything very clear.
One of the better math professors at GCC. She explains concepts very clearly. Do the homework and you can pass the class. Would definitely recommend.
She is an amazing professor.
Would love to take another class with her again! She's very helpful and approachable during office hours. Rarely makes a mistake while lecturing and explains topics clearly. If you do the homework, you can easily pass the class. Show up, do the homework, and REVIEW your notes often. She won't hesitate to answer your questions.
She is a very clear teacher. Homework is optional. 5 tests and lowest grade gets replaced by final if your final is higher. Pay attention in class, do homework if you need practice, review for tests using old exams and notes, and get a good group for group quizzes. Class was not too bad, just a lot of information. Memorize all the methods/formulas.
She is a Good Professor! Just need to focus on her lectures and take good notes. Do NOT talk in her class she doesn't like interruption. Review your notes and Tests, especially Tests. She'll make you do a group project thats not difficult. Be on time, Focus on the lectures, write good notes, dont talk, and review your quizes and test!
One of my favorite math teachers I've ever had. Her lectures will teach you everything you need to know to get an A. No homework, 5 tests, group quizzes, and the final exam. She replaces your lowest test score with the final if your final is higher. Show up to class, take notes, pay attention, and you will not have trouble earning an A.
I took her class to help with math 136 , while I was in chapter 7 in 136 she was barely on chapter 3 so it was no help but I guess it was good review. I was always falling asleep Bc it was just boring but I dont know how her actual math class is. She is nice and helpful when you ask questions but this math lab was honestly just boring to be honest
Professor Romero is the absolute best. She made statistics very simple. Everything is based off her lecture so definitely take notes!! She gives out 5 exams and group works, and a group project at the end of the semester. She has past exams on canvas which helps A LOT to go over what material will be on the exams. Highly recommend!!
She is an excellent professor! She gives 5 exams throughout the semester and they're entirely based on her notes and lectures so pay attention! She only uses the book to assign homework which will also help with the exams. She does plenty of examples in class. She gives you the tests back after you grade them so just study those for the final exam
Considering the fact that it was a math class it was very easy. There is no required homework; yet, it will help if you do what is assigned. Lectures are given through examples and the tests have practice tests which are very helpful too. If you study you will most likely pass with an A.
You don't have to come to any of the classes. You can teach yourself a chapter in a couple days. She takes the entire class to do three problems and one lesson that you could do in thirty minutes. She will explicitly write out every single step until realizing twenty minutes into a problem that she wrote it down incorrectly. Easy A.
She is the best professor ever for calculus! I took her for 103H & 104H and I got an A in both. Homework is not required, but you should practice if you want to do well on the exams. We have group works, one group project, and five exams. She explains how to solve perfectly, and your final will replace your lowest which boosts your grade! THE BEST!
I had her for both 103H and 104H. She is great at explaining the fundamental components of calc. and her teaching method is quite affective. However, You must ask her for clarification on minute details throughout your work as her examples in lecture are simplistic. But if you put in your effort, the class should be a breeze.
She Is the best teacher you can have for a math class. she goes over the fundamental ideas, but then you will have to understand and do the homework problems. HOMEWORK IS A MUST. Most of what she brings on the test is from her lectures and homework. She walks you through every thing like a little kid. she replaces the lowest test score for honors.
AMAZING. Professor Romero was a true gem. I was worried about statistics since it is the science behind math but she made stats simple and fun! I took the 8 week intensive course spring 2019 and felt like it was challenging but worth it. Take her!
Honestly she has to be one of the WORST teachers i've had all my life Lectures are messy she doesn't care if the students understand or not she'll just write problems on the board and move on She for some reason would pick fights with every student in our class she would take class time away to stop and argue with teenagers just unprofessional
yes she's great, yes she can teach but she's very stubborn. She will take points off for the smallest reason on the tests and she'll pick fights for no reasons. She has the knowledge and passion for stats but there's certain moments when she gets on my nerves. like why are you timing the tests for an hour.... Its like she hates us sometimes...
Professor Romero is the most amazing math professor at GCC , her lecture is so clear . She might seem so serious but she is sooo nice and she helps you a lot to make sure you understand everything . Take her for stats you won't regret it . She is the best .
As a student, I've never had such a horrible bitter experience with a professor. Beware of her stubborn attitude and her monotone lectures. She is not lenient whatsoever with grading and she could care less about any questions you have. If you take this professor good luck.
Caring Professor and generous grader. However, when grades depend on the fact if you did your homework or not, it kills all the desire to study. For me, review of all chapters before the Exams works better than doing tons of hw every day. More individual approach would make this class more pleasent.
Professor Romero is a very smart and dedicated Professor. However, her lectures are very simple compared to what the homework and exams require you to do. In other words, she does not explain in detail and expects you to find the missing links. If she was only a bit more friendlier about helping students, shed be amazing. Prepare to forget life.
Professor Romero is an interesting professor. Most of her students were repeating her class. She does not care about the students or their concerns. Her lectures, slides, and hw are not transparent with her exams. She is a very tough and subjective grader. Marking points off seems like a priority vs caring about the students and their success.
Ive been on the Deans Honor Roll for the past 30 credits i have taken and this is the worst professor i have encountered. She does not care about any of your concerns. She is always correct and the whole world is always wrong. If you ask too many questions, she will fail you. Her exams are constructed to trick you. Wasted my time and money.
Hands down the worst professor I have experienced at GCC thus far. The coursework taught in class is completely fragmented from what you need to learn on Canvas and again within the homework. AWFUL experience. None of the work, notes or lectures made sense and she doesnt not care about the students or if anyone is confused. Exams were horrific.
One of the best professors at GCC. She made stats just a click for me. The only reason why you could fail or get a B or lower grade is because you are LAZY. But if you are a hard worker, i recommend taking her class 100%.
Professor Romero is one of the most difficult professors I have ever taken through my 3 years here. She does not care about her students & what they have to say. She will not lean under any circumstances. No matter how much I studied, I still did poorly on exams. She is a VERY tough grader and her exams trick you.
Im taking her right now for calc 2 honors, even tho im not in scholars, & shes a gem! Best math professor ive had in all my math years. She explains beautifully. Her tests are 60% of the class. Theres HW but she doesnt grade them, but you HAVE to do them to pass the class! Take her, best calc professor in gcc, WAY better than Newberry.
I LOVE this woman. She is the best math professor ive had in my 18 years of living. Take her!!!! You wont regret it at all, best math professor at gcc.
She doesn't care about her students. Unfair grader. She is close minded and it is the most boring class to have to sit through.
Due to Covid-19, we were forced to learn remotely and it was a horrible experience. Let me get this out of the way I got an A in the course barely, but I literally had to teach myself. The homework did not help with the exams at all. She grades very tough and wants everything done her way. We started with 35 students ended with less than 20.
I have never enjoyed math because I tend to struggle with it, I previously took this class with another professor & I failed it. professor romero is extremely thorough & very caring about her students. she is strict because she wants everyone to succeed but she is extremely knowledgeable & great at teaching I wish she taught me all my math courses
Hybrid course that went fully remote for Spring2020. Straightforward, organized, systematic, and provides very helpful resources- all Zoom sessions were recorded and posted in Canvas, along with the tablet notes. No frills professor- if you do the work and communicate with her youll do well, she does not overcomplicate things.
TERRIBLE! She's very passive aggressive, rude, and a tough grader who will take off A LOT of points for small mistakes. 10+ students dropped. Her exams are meant to trick you. She doesn't care about her students, calls them out for not paying attention in class as if we're in high school. It's awkward and distracting. Take anyone but her!!!!
I do not understand why some students say she is not good. she is amazing, and organized. I am not a math person and I had no hope to pass this class at all. she made my pass and finish this class forever. and yes she does not let you use your phone or talk with your classmates while she is lecturing.( maybe that is why people don't like her.
Best math professor ive ever taken. i usually need a math tutor to barely survive through a math class, but her class was so clear and easy. of course you have to work for it and practice a LOT, but ive never had a professor so good at teaching to not need additional help She would bend over backwards for her students to give them help.
I dropped her class with a 70% about to be a D. It's a hybrid course but she doesn't accept the way you've taught yourself. Extremely nit picky (as a bio major, this class was the hardest) Only 1hr for her difficult exams, a random project, homework, and class assignments that plummet your grade if you do not do well (remember, she's super picky).
She is be the teacher in the world. I used to not like until we heard about other teachers. If you study hard do the homework, you will easily get an A. Go to her office hours and ask questions. Review the practice tests and you will be fine. follow the steps she gives in class and don't cheat She is one of the best teachers I have ever had in GCC.
The only way I was able to pass this class was statcrunch. I do not know if her teaching changed because it was online (and I love taking math classes), but I didn't like this class. She was an extremely tough grader, which is all weighted on your tests. You get a B on one test, it is almost impossible to bring up. If you like a challenge, take her
Tough grader. Not friendly and no second chances on anything(one time I asked if I could resubmit a class homework because my paper got cut out from scanning, she said no.) I worked hard on this class and still received a C. Her lectures are good though. But not all of it appears on the tests I suggest look up her ratings from other schools too.
Professor Romero is great! She gives you everything you need to pass. Lectures are posted online as well as the notes she takes during lecture. Honestly, just study and watch out for silly mistakes. She does give this weekly hw that doesnt really help and raises ur grade like 0.01 points but like just do it. Solid teacher, take her!
Great lectures, but the tests are NOT like the examples we do during class. I don't know if Professor Romero is taking this online class too seriously, but the way she grades tests is waaay too harsh. She will find any excuse to take points off your work, and the tests are 57% of your grade. Wouldn't recommend her hybrid course, find another prof.
Her teaching style is very straightforward. Take lecture notes, do the homework, and go over the practice exams to get a good sense of the class. You have to be really careful for little things as you can get points off if you forget about them. But if you follow the format, you'll be fine.
Her lecture style is straightforward. But she doesn't give much homework. Beware of EACH TEST. She gives the old exams on Canvas module/file, though her exams aren't like that be. You have to be well-prepared for the exams. So go to every class, take notes, and do homework. And if need pop into her office hour session, she'll help you ALOT.
Professor Romero assigned a drop assignment in the middle of a pandemic that allowed her to lessen her own work load. She dropped me from the class with no chance to explain myself and gave no sympathy of the current situation at hand. It is extremely disappointing to see a professor be so selfish to lessen her workload at the expense of students.
Do NOT take if math isn't your strength. Even so, still NOT easy. Tests worth 50+%, deducts ANY points (inc. grammar) ; absolutely excessive and ableist. NEVER in my academic career had a professor this unsympathetic, especially during COVID. Apparently failing a test (then class) bc a family member passing is "fair and deserved." heartless
This class was absolutely traumatic. At least 10 other people in my class felt the same exact way. We arent taught what we needed to now very well for each test. Theres no leniency or remorse from her end. Everyone that Ive spoken to in her class barely finished the tests and she takes off points for wrong grammar. Extremely hard to get an A.
She provides plenty of old exams and past class assignments for you to practice, but if you want to get an A, it is important to read textbook and do practice problems in the book to fully understand the material as well as the examples provided by the professor. Reach our to her at office hours for questions. She is very helpful.
I wouldn't say this class was easy but it was def doable. She provides a lot of materials for u to practice so u can ace all of her exams. Honestly I don't get why there are so many bad reviews here...I feel very prepared to learn more in-depth Statistics once I transfer to UCLA this fall. You can't succeed if you are lazy! Her class isn't too bad.
She does not teach entire chapters/sections and tells students to learn it on their own because it'll be on the exam. The class averaged 65% on her exams. She doesn't give enough time for the amount of questions given. Takes away points for uploading the exam late. At least a third of the students dropped her class. Good Luck if you take her!
I am skeptical of the high ratings on this professor. This is the worst Professor I have ever encountered in my life. She only cares about her own opinions and never listens to anyone. She dropped me from the class even though I explained my situation to her. Very mean and bitter lady. Absolutely regret taking her as it affected my high GPA.
The worst teacher ever! Never take her!! She is so strict with grading. She gives homework on stuff we have never gone over. Her grading is the worst!!! She wants to see every step, even the most obvious ones. I followed her notes and used her notations, but I still got marked down on my notations. Worst teacher ever!! I would never recommend her.
Worst teacher ever! she does not care about her students and she is very mean and doesnt try understanding her students situations. She only cares about herself and what she thinks. Never take this class!! She is a terrible person and inconsiderate towards her students. NEVER TAKE HER CLASS!!
Im still in the class but I will say she is VERY picky when it comes to grading. I currently have a C in the class and hoping to get a B by the end of the class. However take in mind the class started with 35 students and now theres only 13. She is picky with any tiny little spelling or labeling errors in exams. HW doesnt help your grade.
Wow, I don't know where to begin! PLEASE DO NOT ENROLL IN ANY COURSES WITH THIS PROFESSOR!!!! Deducts points from OBVIOUS things in your work. VERY tough grader. DO NOT LISTEN TO ANY OF THE POSITIVE REVIEWS!!! Almost forgot to mention that more than HALF of her class dropped. Class AVERAGES on EVERY exam were 50-60%! SAVE YOURSELF A HEADACHE!!!!!!!
This Professor is LUCKY enough to even receive 1 star from me! HOW CAN SOMEONE BE CARELESS FOR THEIR STUDENTS! Began with 43 Students and is now LEFT with 13. I THINK that speaks for itself. Exams were AWEFUL. Gives 1 hour to complete maybe 2 hours worth of work. IMPOSSIBLE TO GET AN A! FAILS STUDENTS WITHOUT HESITATION! PRAYERS TO THOSE STILL IN!!
My best advice in taking this class is to know Calculus before taking this class. In all my years, Sandra Romero has to be the worst, least compassionate, most lazy, patronizing teacher I've EVER had. I did not think people like this could hold jobs. If you forget an x under a lim equation IN YOUR WORK she'll mark the whole thing off! DON'T TAKE!
If you are in her class, good luck. She is such a horrible professor, she wants you to fail her class. Her tests are 1 hour long with 10 questions but each question has 8 parts, so you won't be able to finish. She assigns homework that doesn't even raise your grade. You have 3 exams that are 51% of your grade and a final that is 21% of your grade.
Professor Romero is very organized and gives clear explanations. You are expected to study. It is not an easy class, but if you want to learn Calculus then you need to put in the time and effort. I highly recommend her for the folks who hate memorization and want to actually learn difficult math concepts.
Professor Romeros class was great. I am not a math person but really enjoyed learning about statistics in Romeros class. She uses StatCrunch which makes it easier. I didnt have to remember formulas. Romero gives a lot of clear examples and has old tests posted which helped me to prepare for my own tests. Time given on tests was adequate.
I enjoyed taking this class. Professor Romeros class is not easy but her lectures and notes are easy to follow. Yes you will need to put in a lot of time studying to learn. Professor Romero explains the material well and was always willing to answer my questions. Tests are not easy but also not the most challenging either. I would take her again.
DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!!!! I REPEAT DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS, YOU WILL REGRET IT!!! She is such a horrible professor, she grades very harshly, her homework assignments take a long time and are not worth any points. If you are in her class I recommend dropping!!
I took math 136 during the summer session and really enjoyed learning statistics. Professor Romero is great at explaining and has several old tests posted as study guide. Her class is well organized and test questions were fair. It was a lot of work in 5 weeks but that is expected. If you are committed and follow her examples, you will do fine.
If doing tons of homework, strict grading, and failing calculus are all things you enjoy, I would totally recommend this class. Other negative ratings are extremely accurate and most positive reviews are pre-COVID. 70% of the original students have dropped and Sandra would take points off this review for not showing my work to get that number.
The reason why my GPA dropped. Don't do it just don't.
Professor Romero explains the concepts very well. She is well organized and attending her office hours really helped me improve my grades. I enjoyed the class. Just wish it would have been in person instead of being on Zoom. Tests were doable if you were prepared. Review class notes and old posted exams to prepare for tests.
I really enjoyed taking statistics with professor Romero. She gives a lot of examples in class. Her old posted tests help a lot to prepare for the tests. Romero is great teacher and going to her office hours helped me earn a good grade in class.
Professor is clear and explains well. Lots of examples worked out in class. If you do your part you will be fine.
Great class. You dont have to use formulas. All calculations are done with statcrunch. I am not a math person but professor Romero explains really well. I enjoyed learning statistics.
SHE IS THE ABSOLUTE WORST PROFESSOR OUT THERE YOU GUYS! I REPEAT THE WORST!!! Do not take this class WITH HER worst decision of my entire life. She is so rude and non understanding, does not care about anything when you ask, unbearable amount of homework it is actually insane omg. I could go on and on but you guys get it. do. NOT. take. her.
There is only one word to describe her person with no heart. Do not take her class. She is only out there to fail the students. College administrator should be aware of what she is doing to her students. Half of her students dropped. So do not make a mistake and take her class.
I really enjoyed Professors Romeros class. She made learning statistics fun and interesting. Yes you will have to do your part in order to succeed. This is college after all. I dont consider myself a math person yet professor Romero explains very well and always answered my questions. I studied the class notes and old posted tests and did great.
Professor Romero knows the material and is very thorough when explaining. Answered all of my questions. Yes it is not an easy class and if you are looking for an easy grade, dont take her. If you want to learn calculus and be well prepared for the next class, take her. Would definitely take another math class with Romero. Great class.
Do not take her as your professor. I repeat besides being a the worst professor she is also cold hearted and cruel individual. She does not care about her students whats so ever. People like her dont deserve to be teachers.
Professor Romero is a great teacher. Statistics is not easy but Romero is really good at explaining and she is very organized. There are no quizzes and class assignments are completed during class with your classmates. Old tests and class notes really help to prep for the 3 semester test. Also she assigns a group project with lots of feedback.
Great class. Professor Romero is very organized and goes over a lot of examples in class. Yes it is a lot of homework and studying but this is expected from taking a college math class. She answered all my questions. Attending her office hour, asking questions and reviewing notes and old tests helped me learn and earn a good grade.
Great class. I enjoyed learning about Statistics. Professor Romero explains very well and answered all of my questions. I would definitely take her again.
if you love yourself even a little, you will not take this professor. She is insensitive and grades everything like its the end of the world. She does not care about her students and is miserable. She also does not take any of your excuses into account and does not care what you have to say. She's by far the worst professor I've ever had at gcc.
Genuinely the worst professor Ive encountered at gcc. I dont mean to be rude but she was rude the entire semester. She has a tendency to belittle you when you try to ask questions. She has 0 empathy and takes off points for the most minuscule mistakes. She has class assignments that drop your grade 30% but only raise it 0.5%. Take ANY other prof.
This professor is from another planet. She has 0 empathy for her students and does not care for her students. Anybody taking her class will suffer the next 4 months. So save yourself from hell and drop the class.
this professor has no heart
when I tell you I have never met a professor like this one Im not lying she has no heart and sets you up for failure, she is no help and her tests are impossible its like she wants all of us to fail.
I have taken both math 110 and math103E with professor Romero. She is a great teacher, explains well and gives plenty of examples. She prepared me well. I would highly recommend to take her class.
Worst teacher ever. Do not take her.
This was my second time taking math136. I am glad that my second attempt was with professor Romero. She is very organized and really knows how to teach statistics. Even though it is a challenging class, Romero helps her students to learn and using StatCrunch for most computations also helped a lot. Do take her class
Professor Romero really knows Statistics well and made taking a math class enjoyable even though I dont really like math. She goes over a lot of examples in class, answers all questions and always comes prepared to class. Yes it is not an easy class but professor Romero really helped me learn and earn an A grade. I highly recommend to take her.
I enjoyed taking professors Romeros class. She was always prepared and went over a lot of examples in class. Amount of homework assignments were reasonable for it being a college level Calculus class. Romero was always available during office hours and answered all my questions. It is not an easy class but professor Romero made it enjoyable.
Professor Romero explains very clearly and gives plenty of examples in class. Amount of homework is reasonable given that this is a higher math class. Her tests are not the easiest but also not the most difficult tests I have taken. She post old tests and always has a review session before each test. Definitely would take Romero again.
Guys save urself trust me all the good reviews are written by her she is the most impossible professor you will ever meet.
It is so bad I wanna give you a 0 but that's not possible so I give you a 1.
She is a great teacher and really explains the material in detail. Lots of worked out examples in class and gives lots of feedback.
I had a 4.0 GPA til I took this class. This professor ruined my GPA. She's a great professor but her midterm and final were insanely difficult!
Great professor; lectures are thorough, lots of practice problems. DON'T forgot to do your homework and read the modules online. (I took hybrid and 60-70% covered in class, rest online) Not homework-heavy, tests are decent (worst test score can be replaced by the Final test score) - hard to fail. CON: She uses Pearson and StatCrunch - both costly.
She is amazing professor she guides you through all the examples and text questions. Test and group work is always reviewed. Grades fairly and always gives detailed work from the assigned homework and is willing to walk around and answer question during tests and group work. i recommend
Math is a very hard subject for me and I am shocked I got an A, which is purely due to Prof. Romero's teaching style. I had previously dropped this class w another prof. bc I was overwhelmed but not here. Course material is hard but she explains clearly, & answers any questions kindly. Her grading is fair tests aren't overly complicated. Take her!
Unhelpful and doesn't seem to care about teaching her students, difficult tests with useless reviews, everything seems rushed and any of the non-test assignments don't affect your grade at all. Everyone I spoke to in the class hated her. Avoid her class like the plague. The worst class I've taken at GCC by a longshot.
laughably poor teacher, generally unhelpful and unkind. I wholeheartedly recommend waiting a semester if you have no other choice. Save yourself the stress, and your GPA.
Took her for stats 136, her lectures were very clear and concise. Very few assignments and your grade was mainly based on exams. Homework wasn't mandatory. Attendance is mandatory and if you don't pay attention to the lecture and notes then it's pretty hard.
If you're looking for a friendly professor or an easy A do not take this class! Majority of your grade is made up of tests. She is fairly good at explaining topics and simplifying it, but rushes through modules so you WILL have to spend lots of time self-studying and you will be fine. Homework is optional.
Zis waz zi best tseatsure ive ever hadtst! sees so goods!
do not take this professor!
Probably the best lecturer on campus when it comes to calc. Truly takes time to explain each concept in detail, unlike other calc professors at GCC. Homework is optional, which I enjoyed because it allows you to spend your time to study however you like. Definitely not the warmest human or most easygoing grader, but great teaching style.
Professor Romero is a great stats teacher. Her lectures are clear, and the workload is manageable. Attendance is mandatory, but it's worth it to learn the material. Try using Unstuck ai alongside the textbook for effective study prep.
just don't……do yourself the fattest favor and don't take her.
Amazing lecturer and educator. Explains concepts very clearly and takes the time to cover each step while being concise and easily understandable. Show up, do the homework (which isn't a whole lot, less than an hour a day), pay attention, ask questions, and it should be an easy A.
Professor Romero is a great professor, Her exams are very reasonable: no surprises, and she go to great lengths to introduce simplified methods for solving equations. Very minimal homework load, however, to truly succeed in her course you should expect to study more than what is just assigned. She is also very quick when it comes to grading!
Makes calculus somewhat entertaining. Approachable and friendly, but a harsh grader and hard to succeed in the class. I don't blame the instructor, but this class made me change majors.
Just don't do anything to upset her and make yourself a target. Seems like she had it out for me when i didn't do anything to upset her so beware. Overall her class is easy if you go to class every day and study at least twice a week you shouldn't have a problem passing. She is a very harsh grader takes points away for any little mistake.
She can definitely be a little particular with how you do things, but she's always very clear about how she wants things done and what to expect on exams. Her lectures were good but she also just structured the class well, getting a good balance between lectures and letting us practice problems.
Awesome professor. Explains every concept clearly, is patient and helpful when someone asks a question, sets clear expectations, and grades fairly. I was never confused about a topic after a lecture. She's a no funny business type person but is still very nice and uses a sarcastic, dry humor to keep a class engaged and drive home teaching points.
Decent teacher. She assigned a good amount of homework but her tests weren't super difficult. If you understand the homework, you will do well. There were weekly group work assignments, so make sure you come to class. She is not a very enthusiastic teacher but is accessible outside of class.
If you have a hard time learning and understanding math in general, especially if you're only taking this class for getting credit for your major, I highly advise against taking this professor, as she's often very vague Plus, she's very strict on grading, as the four tests that you take in her class are worth a combined total of 60% of your grade.
If you have a hard time learning and understanding math, especially if you're only taking this class to get credit for your major, I'd recommend you look for another professor, as she's often very vague when asking questions. She's also very strict on grading, as the tests are worth a combined total of 60% of your grade. Otherwise, she's okay.
Romero is usually straightforward. To pass her class you need to pay attention and take good notes, do the homework, and review her previous exams. Definitely not impossible to pass her class and even get an A. Very test heavy. She is available for office hours. She lectures good but does answer questions vaguely. Also there is some extra cred.
Definitely not the easiest class, but manageable if you put your mind to it. She's a very tough grader, and because of that I lost a lot of points on small things, which is why I finished with a B. I'd recommend taking this course online or with another professor if possible—but it's not the worst class.
