probably the nicest teacher i've ever had
The coolest prof i have had yet!
great prof
Very knowledgeable, nice
Wicked..super nice... true, she is a bit of a cougar
Unreal teacher, very sexy cougar, good style as well in all that North Face gear
You cannot meet a nicer person. She livened the class with her personality.
very optimistic, livens up a boring class
Great techer - so nice and helpful. Very supportive of student's work and ideas

I still do not like HR, but she is an excellent prof!!
Ms. Cheerful, makes for an interesting class, well recommended
cougar alert-- YES but her mid term was a little too tuff for my liking
good prof, horrible material ... tests cover too much
Tests are moderate, she conveys information very clearly
Awesome person, made a boring class interesting.

super nice lady who marks very fair

Never underestimate her, nice jewlery too!
So nice, so caring, so bubbly and cute. take a class from her she's fun!
Cougar alert! Brutal. Likes to hear her own babbling. Final is way too tough.

She is amazing, and is full of fashion..... distinguished in teaching.
Very easy class and is a cougar also!
Man oh man, could this class be any more boring! I guess that isn't her fault though. SHe's smarter than she lets on though, and she is a SUPER hard marker when it comes to essays and group projects.
Very nice. Knows her material well. Enjoyable class.
Sandra is super energetic and outgoing. At times maybe a little bit annoying, but overall a great proff, who i would recomend if you want a good mark!!
One of the finest cougars I have ever seen.
Class is hella boring. Killed everyone on the midterm...probably just hired a stingy marker. Should be able to walk away with 80+ if you are a good student.
Boring, not fair, not easy.
BORING! and the marker seems to be on drugs.
GOOD TEACHER, HARD TESTS BUT OVERALL A GOOD CLASS, I WOULD RECOMMEND HER TO ANY INCOMING ADMN STUDENT.
funny!

Read the textbook, don't bother going to class. She just reads the powerpoint slides that come with the textbook. She uses the textbook bank of multiple choice questions (too lazy to make her own tests).
Awesome prof! Sure the material is dry at times, and there is alot of reading, but Sandra is just such a nice, approacable person. She wants you to succeed in class and makes the subject interesting.
get ready for multiple choice. If you suck at it you will hate this class. A little to touchy feally for me
No Comments
she is a very good teacher that is always looking out for the wellfare of her students. her tests are pretty hard(multiple choice) but very fair.
She does just read her powerpoints but she adds alot of extra conversation and thought than what is just on the slides. A fair marker always looking for the students opinion. I would never have taken these classes from any other prof. I am very glad I had her to teach me.
Sandra is a highly recommended prof. Has very effective lectures, encourages participation and very approachable. M/C exams were easy; just read the text and study her notes and you'll do well in her classes.
Would take another class from her, b/c it's straight from the text. Enthusiastic about the boring material, which is nice to see. Don't go to class if you don't have to, and memorize the text.
this is a textbook class...memorize the textbook and ull be fine...sandra really has no thoughts of her own to offer she just regurgatates the textbook...nice enough lady though and the exams are multiple choice
She is very energetic and tries to make the boring Admin stuff interesting. But all she's really doing is reading the powerpoint slides and giving some examples. Basically memorize the textbook and have fun with the 3 multiple choice exams. Biggest challenge in her class is staying awake.
She doesn't come across as the smartest lady in the faculty, and she isn't. Her exams incorporate a complete set of multiple choice on the most insignificant material that you take throughout the semester, instead of the important stuff (that everybody studies). She NEEDS some work, good luck. Although she does seem nice.
She tries to start class discussion, but if you make an argument for cases where the textbook theory doesn't apply (even the textbook acknowledges that such cases exist) she'll think you don't *understand* the textbook and try to "explain" (i.e. repeat) it to you. Her exam questions are ambiguous and require memorizing the textbook, word-for-word.
Sandra Stenn is the best, hottest, coolest prof in this bloody school. She rocks.
A comment to the other posts about the this textbook teacher...SHE WROTE THE TEXTBOOK. Anyway, she is one of the best teachers, she is helpful and well experienced. Her exams are easy just study the side notes in the textbook and you will do real well. If you have any problem just ask her for help, and she will do her best, take a class from her
Well I don't find the class the most interesting, but that isn't her fault. HR is a relatively dry topic, in my opinion. She did write the book, so she does know the subject matter. She tries to make it interesting. Case quiz was alot more detail oriented than it had to be.
Very affable and her tests are simple. Doesn't take herself too seriously.
Sandra is awesome and she genuinely cares about every students grade. Class is boring but extremely easy.
Sandra is an excellent teacher. She has wide open lectures which are great, she makes the material that she teaches understandable and interesting. Thanks Sandra
Likes power point and MC tests. Tests are a bit trivial though, so watch out.
Not the best prof, but acceptable. Focuses on being nice rather than actually presenting the material. Read the textbook. Tests are tricky as questions are worded funny-- your 'best' answer is never right. Group project instructions were vague. Overall, it's not a bad class, but I would recommend taking it from another prof.
She tries to trick you on her tests by asking the questions in a confusing way. Take this class by another professor
Its like any other class, study and you'll do well! she doesnt give clarity on the group project, so make sure you understand it before you do it. Just be sure to read the text and the notes from the slides to do well.
Sandra is great! She is very open and helpful, she knows her stuff and genuinely wants to see her students succeed. Classes are only boring if the students don't participate, if you do, and your classmates do as well, within a few weeks this class will be like going for coffee with friends, but the conversations are all HR.
she's very friendly but her classes are boring and dull and her exams are insanely hard. she spends more time talking about her life and issues rather then the class, i would not take another one from her.
She's a dime. Just go to see her in action.
Pretty good prof. Going to class is somewhat useless, she talks about alot of useless things.. but I haveto give her points for enthusiasm. Midterm was predictable and pretty easy. Journal assignment was dumb and tedious.. but also easy. Take 250 from her, just have something to read during class to help cope with the bore.
She really knows what she's talking about, has lots of experience in the HR field, but often seems overly concerned with being nice to everyone, rather than teaching the material. Granted, this class is really actually quite boring....I suppose she does the best she can with the subject material.
Sandra is a peach! She is highly intelligent and is super nice. Sometimes she lets the class discussion get out of hand because of her niceness. Exams were easy to prepare for, a browse through the text and slides and regular attendance is all that is needed to do quite well. No group project or papers or any of that crap.
Steen is one of the few profs that you have to fully respect; she has so much real world experience that she integrates into the class and she's really nice. She marks fairly hard, but she leaves so many comments that it gives you a lot of room to improve. All around great prof that acually cares about her students, makes me want to be an hr major.
made HR just okay. about 70% of students never came to class, so she would tell stories and let us go early. the project sucked but only took about 8 hours of straight work, and still got over 80 on it. memorize the slides and read the book and you got a solid 80 learn nothing from lecture so dont bother going
She is a nice lady and probably one of the more interesting profs. However, all she does is ask students to tell everyone there perspectives and experiences ALL class. I dont pay to hear other students, actually teach me something.
Horrible teacher. May be a great business woman but she doesn't know how to teach a class. She asks for input from the class and doesn't go into detail for important slides. Too into the textbook she wrote and project was incredibly vague and marked very hard. By the end of the semester listening to her lecture was like nails on a chalk board!
Sandra Steen is a very nice person, but taking her class is very boring and you dont really have to be there. All you have to do is read the text book-but you better know it inside out and backwards because her exams are multiple choice and hard multiple choice...better know the processes within the theories within the blah blah..uninteresting class
WTF shes the worst teacher ive ever had in my 4 years of university!! If you know what you are doing in school and are a 90 student dont take a class from her EVER! she does'nt even know what she wants! She has favorites, gets u to memorize all 15 chaptersof her textbook and class are worthless she only READS the power point andgoes on tangents!
worst prof. boring material, it's pretty useless to go to her classes since the slides are up and she'll make you do useless case studies and watch dumb videos which have NOTHING to do with the tests. She expects you to know the entire txtbook and then acts surprised at the low class ave. Her MC questions are super hard. Avoid if you can.
USELESS, by far the worst prof I have ever had, frankly I dont think she should even be teaching. She doesnt know how to insturct or even structure a class. Not worth showing up just memorize the textbook thats all the tests are about. Once your done this class forget everything you might have
BAD. She wrote the book so she expects you to memorize it & tests you on how well you know the book not how well you understand the concept. and then she acts surprised at the low class average. brutal marker. please avoid.
Horrible prof. Class is an utterly useless waste of time. Make sure you know the textbook inside and out. That's all she tests. She is a super tough marker. Her exams are very difficult with ambiguous multiple choice questions and irrelevant long answer. Avoid!
Sandra is one of the best profs at UofR. She is very intelligent and knowlegeable. I can recommend her to every student.
She is very nice and respectful and always seems happy. The classes can be boring, as all we do is go over the powerpoint slides but she takes attendance and it goes towards a participation mark. There were no big group projects in this class, just little groupwork case studies in class. The exams are based a lot on the text book.
Very smart and loves what she does. Good speaker but gets distracted and annoyed with little things and even called our class out for yawning in class. She picks obvious favorites and takes 10% participation but marks a lot higher than you'd assume. Tests are very easy and she rewards students who show knowledge of the text since she wrote it.
The definition of "sickeningly sweet". Tries her best to act extremely nice and happy but you can tell she suppresses a bunch of anger and must have to release it by beating up her pillow when she gets home or something. 55% final, 35% midterm and 10% participation. Easy class and easy to get a high mark if you tell her what she wants to hear.
Sandra is one of the best teachers at URegina. She was there to answer work or class related questions. Very helpful. Passion for the subject. Cleaver, light hearted, and professional. Lots of reading! You will need to know the WHOLE text book inside and out. Pay attention to the case studies. Use online test examples from publisher site.
Teaches directly from the textbook (seeing how she wrote it...). For tests, know that book! The class was pretty boring, just have your book open and pretend to pay attention and you'll do ok.
Had one of those attitudes that I just couldn't get my head around. Some people were really engaged by her (ie 30 something females) others - not so much. Unfair marking depending on how she was feeling that day.
Overall I like Sandra. She's interesting to listen to. She's an overall fair marker and the class is easy to understand. Sometimes it's hard to depict what is important but overall I like her. This class had no final which was a major bonus as well! I would take her again in a heartbeat. Go to class, get involved and pay attention. You'll do fine!
Always in a smiling mood and encourages participation in class. Does her best to make everyone interested, but there's not much you can do to make HR interesting. I don't recommend the class, but if you must take it, take it with her.
Sandra is the most amazing prof I have ever had at the U of R. She is the kindest lady and willing to help. Her class and tests are not too hard like some say. I missed the midterm and my final was worth 75% and I still ended with an 82! Her class is straight forward. Yes you have to know the material, but thats like every class! She's too sweet!
You dont have to attend the class to get a good mark, just read the book. Her final is mulitiple choice and the questions are mostly from the book. She doesnt really challenge the students to learn the concept thouroughly. This is okay if HR is not your major, but if it is, you dont come away from class with an indephth understanding.
Boring class, but easy for the most part. She is a clear speaker, but vague on instructions and answering question. Easily annoyed over little distractions.
Not a hard class, do not need to show up for class. Read her text book inside-out and you will ace her exams (ie. she wrote the book) Fair marker. Clear speaker, but not clear when answering questions. She is vague when answering. Overall not horrible class.
Sandra knows what she is talking about - forward and backward - she wrote the textbook - but her classes were very very slow and dull - most days only half the class shows up.
Overall, I thought Sandra did the best she could with this class. Her bright attitude made the boring class as best as she could, even though you definitely do not need to be there. An easy group project, midterm and final, which were all very easy if you actually read through all the chapters. I would highly recommend her for OB for an easy mark.
Sandra really tries to make class interesting, she is super nice, but somehow her class is still super boring. There is a midterm, group assignment and final. Her tests are relatively easy if you read the textbook.
I want to thank Dr. Sandra because she helped me learn & practice using voicethread, web, & many others. I would recommend the class as her tests and assignments are easier. Dr. Sandra is real in her passion for learning.
She is great professor i have ever met she is really help full what ever you ask her she will help you but in the end she need a student must study him/her self . She like efforts you put in . She give response so quick when ever you need her. Will strongly recommend her to all students
Sandra is a really great prof, does her best to make a boring subject interesting. Textbook is mandatory, attending class is not. 4 Journals (225 words), group project (no paper), a midterm and a final. You will need to read the textbook to do well on tests!
Take this class wtih Sandra. She is quite helpful. Class engagement was high. Sanda's real life experience HR translates well to her students.
Sandra is a fantastic prof. She is very knowledgeable about the topics and encourages class discussion. She takes the time to make sure that students understand concepts. I would definitely take another class from her.
I was not able to attend the midterm, but she was nice about it and have transferred the credits to the final. All, I did for this course is to study the whole book for just one hour prior the final exam at the parking lot on my car. I got an acceptable grade.
She is very helpful and humble in nature i love taking her class.
Honestly one of the best profs i've had at the u of r. Friendly and helpful if you have a question. Class material is boring but the workload is easy if you study a bit. She wrote the Textbooks for both classes I took from her (bus 250 and 260), so read the books a bit and you'll do well
Very good prof. She is very nice. Two tests and a group project make up the majority of your grade. Read the textbook and pay attention to the definitions and youll do good.
Very easy, almost 95% of test and exam are MC. Nice teacher, willing to help, presentation are easy, gives good grade. Just remember to read all material from classes, nothing from tests and exam are unexpected.
There was no teaching involved in either of these courses. There were readings assigned, and some papers, a horrible group project. There was great emphasis on your forum entries, which can be a challenging if you do not want to re-iterate what others have already said. My advice get on those forums early so you're not competing for air time.
Sandra is a very good professor, her class is easy if you read the book. She is very clear and gives a lot of examples to clarify what is in the textbook. I really enjoyed her class
Sandra is an Amazing lady and professor! You'll be fine in her class if you study her textbook and give citations in your assignment. She's your typical HR Person! Awesome! Would Recommend anybody!
She is nice but classes are pointless since she just goes through lecture notes already provided. There was no midterm which is great but very unclear what is expected for the final. The reflections were graded brutal and it is hard to figure out what is expected.
Sandra seems nice enough but she made what could have been a relatively interesting subject pretty boring. 3 small assignments, 1 of which has to be done with a partner. Grading criteria isn't very clear. Textbook is a must. Go to class because some of the group discussion content in important to know.
Very easy class, stopped going after the midterm. Buy the text, Midterm and Final have the same questions as the textbook online quizzes (she wrote the text).
Its an easy class but very boring. Its difficult to know what she wants from you in the assignments, you just kind of guess.
Sandra is a nice lady and is always happy and cheerful. But I personally felt really bored in her lectures. The assignments were graded by TA's so beware. One Midterm. Buy the textbook and read it word for word and you'll do good on the final. Attendance is recommended as some of the questions on the midterm will be based on class discussion.
I can only say that not everyone likes reading, her book is knowledgeable for sure, but reading word to word to answer the mid-term and final's question seem unnecessary to me (must be exactly words in the book if you want full mark). her lectures are too boring for me, can't sit there for even a minute, lost focus for the rest.
She is such a great teacher and really wants you to succeed! Her tests are good and her class is interesting. Loved taking her class
Sandra is a great prof! She does her best to make the material interesting and tries to get the class involved as much as possible! One midterm, one group project and a take home final! Also, she puts the slides online which is super helpful if you miss a class and the notes on the slides are from her textbook. She is awesome!!
Sandra is a great prof, highly recommend. For the midterm, I just studied her ppt slides and got a decent mark. The group project was easy but make sure you pick the right (hardworking) people for your group. Take home final was okay too. Goodluck.
Sandra has a clear grading criteria. Midterm is only based on multiple choice, One group project, you don't have to write any project just power point presentation and a take home final exam. Overall a easy class.
Sandra does a good job for a tough class. Participation was low but she still always came prepared and organized. The class is not graded on many assignments so if you pay attention you can get a really good mark or you can do very bad.
Sandra really cares about her students, and she is a very respected and typical Human Resource professional! She takes time to explain each slide at her lectures, and she made what could be a boring topic, engaging for the students. Participation is low, but pay attention and try your best and you will earn a great mark!
Sandra was a great prof for 260. The class structure was simple and the weekly online assignments were straight forward. One midterm and it was all MC, straight from the book, there are practice multiple choice questions provided on the online textbook, which made the final and the midterm very easy. I would definitely take this class with her
she is a mediocre prof, knowledgeable on the material. You need to know the entire bus 260 textbook for the final. Lectures are useless, she uses the textbook provided slides which go into little to no detail. You're better off skipping class and studying each chapter in the textbook. Midterm and final are easy as long as you read the textbook.
Sandra was a very nice professor to have. She was very upbeat and happy and was thorough in her lectures. I found the class easy, but Organizational Behaviour isn't exactly calculus. While attendance wasn't mandatory, she made the class fun with her teaching style.
Im the kind of student who usually get an 80-85 and with the efforts I put on her class, I only received a final mark of 75 and the class average is 70. The only thing she seem to consider in marking is how much she agree with what you said rather than the truth or what you learned from the class. Don't take this course w/ her.
Great Prof would recommend taking a class with her. The only knock is she never really taught us as it was all virtual but it was super easy so not a huge deal. The group project is marked hard so make sure to read the rubric. Final was take home and a simple self reflection. Overall a great prof and a great class.
Great prof and great class. Syllabus is structured and course is clear from the start. BUS 250 was an online course and there was little interaction from the prof (only if you had questions). She was highly approachable. Get ready to read the textbook as it is used to generate the chapter exams.
Worst Prof ever. She would never help if we face any problem with the Course doubts. If we face technical issues with submitting the quizzes or tests, she would not help us even if we plead. Faced many difficulties. No reminders of tests or anything. Would never recommend.
Unsure if I would take her class again, she seems extremely nice & approachable, but her grading expectations & marking outlines are vague. She models her course around a textbook that she created, so you have to buy it to complete the exercises. Class includes a lot of interactive content.
Must buy the textbook that she wrote, 1000% bases the course off of. No zoom, no email communication, no feedback.
Excellent class. She provides very clear direction and answers any questions very quickly. Gets marks back in a very timely manner. Her web-based class is an excellent example of what a web class should be and I would highly recommend her class. Although I did not need to contact her during the course I feel that she is very approachable.
Sandra is okay. Everything is completely remote so you basically teach yourself. Homework and reading every week with participation marks and quizzes. No midterms just a final which kinda sucked since I didn't know what to expect. Overall meh.
This course is great because it allows you to feel like an intelligent, hard working person when in reality you haven't learned any new skills, any new ideas, and memorized a bunch of word salads to make yourself feel special.
I understand why people don't like the way Professor Steen teaches but she's genuinely a nice person. Her lecture slides are kind of vague so you'll need to either pay attention to the sub-par lecture or read the textbook to support the slides. Class is pretty boring but midterms are easy which is all I care about. You do have to study the slides(:
"Midterms are easy" yes if you think getting 60s and 70s are good marks and have no aspirations above a 9-5 desk job then this degree is for you
Easy enough class. She is a very nice prof. By paying attention in class and studying the slides it can be a very easy class.
Great Professor. Her lectures are interactive and interesting. Midterms are multiple-choice. Lots of case studies are done in class, so group work happens alot. If you are taking Bus 250 consider taking it with Sandra.
Much like the textbook, Steen congratuates herself by writing her own positive reviews immediately after finding negative ones!
Mass memorize a bunch of useless info and vomit it out for the final exam. I'm sure thought provoking ideas like "diversity is good" and "be nice to people" are useful HR practices that make businesses successful in the real world.
Too good for bus 250 Good grading for assignments as well exams Take home exam
Sandra is a great prof. She really knows her stuff and gives straight forward quizzes. She had participation questions every week that were a little difficult to answer cause she wasn't straightforward with what she wanted. Overall I enjoyed the class and would take a class with her again.
Sandra is incredible. She wrote the textbook, that should say enough!
She is amazing; as the person said below me, she wrote the textbook! Her online class is so well laid out and guides you perfectly. She sets you up for success in the best way possible. This class made me consider switching majors. If you see her name, TAKE THE CLASS
Overall a decent prof. Class was organized and all info about assignments/grading given at the beginning. Available for questions and provided feedback. Wish that there was grades provided for discussion questions halfway through the term so you could adjust your writing if needed for a better grade.
One of the Better Bus Profs at the University. Always Kept Material New and Fresh to Current Events and Overall Was Quite Kind. Only Complaint is that the Group Project Criteria Could be Explained Better.
worst wont help you in any situation
Insanely harsh marker, participated in the class yet I still received a mediocre mark for it. Easy lectures, but I would not take again
Professor Steen's class is decent. While the lectures can be vague, the midterms are manageable. I found unstuck study really helpful for preparing. Overall, an okay course if you're willing to put in the work.
If you're taking HR you have to take it with Sandra. She's super chill and even curves the midterm. We had a midterm, group project and a final. The group project was a bit difficult to coordinate and the grading criteria wasn't clearly defined but nonetheless a super easy manageable class!
Some might say it is "AI 250", but they wouldn't have been paying attention. She had a group assignment (not ideal for undergrad) that required consistent attendance. She only graded on one midterm, the group assignment and the final. Be prepared for a grade less/better than you expected or might deserve. MC Midterm and Final
If you're taking BUS 250 you have to take it with Sandra!! She's such a passionate professor...even just showing up and actively listening to her lectures will make you pass with a good score. The group project was also pretty good with better rules than other classes I've had. Loved this class and found HR so interesting after taking it with her!
Best and nicest teacher I had in the BUS faculty so far, course was interesting and the class discussions were very engaging. If you need to take HR then do it with this prof and you'll thank me later. Attendance is heavily encourage as its taken into account for the pretty large group project. Exams were just MCQs. Would give her a 6 if I could.
I was nervous to take this class due to reviews, but it turned out great. Sandra is a fair marker and her tests are clear and straightforward, with helpful cues. If you study the concepts, it's very easy to do well. You have to study tho. I'd definitely recommend her and take her class again. Pull your GPA? Take her class.
Sandra is a very sweet lady the class was generally easy. All it is is her reading off slides and asking a few questions so it can get boring but the material is easy enough. The bad thing about this class is that you are graded on a midterm 25% group project 25% and the final.
