She is a good teacher and she is willing to help you in any way. She tries not to let anyone get lost.

Absolute breeze of a class. Her vocabulary is a little hilarious. She called a gigabyte a "jiggabite" constantly. Overall she's nice and as long as you complete the busywork assignments you'll breeze through.

Good teacher! Her exams are a little hard. You have to really practice your SAM homework if you're not already very familiar with Microsoft! Pretty interesting though... seems moody at first but has a good sense of humor!
At first I thought she was gonna be very tough, but as the semester went out, she loosened up a lot and became very fun! I enjoyed her class a lot! Do your SAM and you'll be fine!
She was so easy. She acted like she was going to be bad the first couple of weeks, but she was alot of fun later on. Nothing in her class is hard except for Access.. so study it extra.
Mrs. Sandra is great. She is a really sweet lady so if she comes off mean at first stick it out, she does it every semester. Respect her and she will return the favor!
She worships Excell, you will spend three weeks on it and still not understand its purpose. If you don't understand computers don't take Ms. Thomas.
Ms Thomas is not very helpful if you have questions, so make the TA's your best friends. Labs and Training are easy, just time consumming. I made an A and never cracked the book.
it's computer concepts...not sure bout the section #...i skipped class like 5 different times & made an "a"...u just have 2 do the h/work & go over the sam stuff but it's pretty easy!!! i didn't study that much @ all & made an "A"!!!
Mrs. Thomas is straight. She cool with her students, and loves what she does. If you take Computer Concepts take her, straight up.
This professor is too hard. He classes were boring to me. She likes some student better than others. I took info sys, it was very hard to pass it. Need to memorize the whole book. Her exams were difficult
She isn't nice when I ask her questions, but her graduate assistants are very helpful.
Her grammar is so bad that it is hard to pay attention in class. I get frustrated just listening to her, so it is hard to pay attention to what we are being assigned or taught. I'm sure she "knows her stuff", but she is not very good at passing on her knowledge. I'm no scholar, but she would not have passed my elementary school english classes.
If she could speak proper English for a professor then I would give her more credit. "Make sure you do your Homeworks"? Hrmm Lot of information is helpful but the class is not. Good luck with this class.
VERY NICE AND HELPFUL, IF YOU FAIL IT'S YOUR OWN FAULT CAUSE SHE HELPS WHEN YOU ASK!!
This teacher is horrible. Her grammar is ridiculous. She acts like she wants you to fail instead of pass. If you email her and ask her a question, she will call you out in class and make you look like a complete jack***. I would not recommend taking this teacher. I didn't learn jack **** from her.
I took Mrs. Thomas for Computer Concepts and Applications. She will call you out if you have a question and make you look dumb. If you do all of your homework and assignments you will pass. It's a VERY time consuming class so I recommend taking it over the summer.
Yes, her grammar is a bit on the bad side, but if you dont focus on her mistakes, she is a great teacher. Unless you try to cause problems, you will do fine. Do the homework, and pay attention. If you need help, go to her and ask and she will help. follow her rules and dont cause problems.
I took her for computer concepts !!! Her class is great and I just lover her! Computer concepts is a consuming class, true however if you do a little studying and paying attention you will be just fine ! It is a fun class and I you will enjoy taken it ! Good Luck !
a good teacher ! the best in information systems major. IS majors have at troy university (main campus)
I am taking Ms. Thomas now. Her grammar and pronunciation make it hard for me to completely pay attention. She's not always nice, however, if you do the work she assigns, you should be fine.
Computer concepts isn't a hard class but if you ask her for help she takes her time to make sure you get it. If you pay attention to her lectures and show up then your good. Lot of people who say she's hard either don't pay attention, don't show up, or both! She talks in 3rd person which is funny. She's a nice person.
Great Professor. Makes it easy to comprehend the information thats needed.
She's extremely difficult made it out with a 70. Doesn't like to help students. She has favorites and if you're not one you better know your stuff. DONT USE CELL PHONES!
A general understanding of computers helps. This class can be difficult for someone who knows nothing about computers. Professor is very helpful, clear direction. Lots and lots of reading.
This lady will come off as very hard and even mean in class. Talk to her outside class and she will become your best friend! She explains everything with almost perfect clarity. She moves a bit fast, but other than that, the class is great!!
Extremely helpful. Not looking to be your friend in the classroom, but as long as you communicate with her outside of class she is the most helpful professor in the world. Made everything understandable. Would take her again if I needed to. Loved her, she became like my mother.
Don't let her intimidating front scare you. The first exam is the hardest but the rest aren't too bad. Make sure you study the chapter review questions in the book because she often uses those for exams. Pay attention to the deadlines for the online work because she doesn't tell you in class and won't let you make assignments up if you missed them.
Does not allow students to miss class even if it's an emergency. Doctor's and Dentist appointments are not allowed
Troy university needs more professors like her! She's so willing to help.
Her first test was the hardest. But, after the first test the others weren't so bad. Definitely read ahead and stay on top of your assignments that she gives you. If you ask her for help she will help you, makes sure she knows your face. It'll help you out in the end.
If you go to class and work the practices and grader projects more than once you will make at least a B. Her lectures aren't life-changing, but she gets the information across and has a very clear expectation of her classes.
She was a really good professor. She does expect EVERYONE to participate in lecture. If you don't then she will threaten to give a pop quiz, so it's just easier if at least someone says something. If I had to give some advice it would be to do exactly as she says! When she says read, read! It will be tested on.
Lots of work in this class regardless of the instructor. She may seem strict at first but is actually very nice and wants class participation. The first test was rough but the rest were pretty easy. She'll go over how to do things as many times as needed. Whatever she says to read, definitely read it cause it will be on the test.
Computer Concepts is a difficult class, however, Mrs. Thomas was a huge help. She keeps your attention in class and makes the material interesting. This class is not a breeze, but she definitely helps. She is an awesome woman and she loves if you participate in class. Would definitely take her again!
Took her for an online class. I thought my interactions with her were short and rude, but overall it was a good class and I learned plenty from her. She is by the book, but is fair.
Everything is online. She is strict with her rules and follows her syllabus. She knows her stuff and teaches everything you need to know. Do the online simulations on MyITLab and the grader projects. You can get an A if you do all the homework and do decent on the tests
This class was really hard, but Mrs. Thomas was really nice. She could be a little too hard on the class at times but for the most part it was pretty chill. I would say go to every class because she does random in class assignments. And read your book!!
This class is NOT difficult, unless you aren't willing to do the homework and practice. She gives you multiple times to submit the homework, and leaves all assignments open for practice. It is hard not to make an A.
This class requires a lot of work. It may be a lot of work but its easy work. I am passing the class with a B+. She asks the class multiple times if you need help before she moves on to the next topic and if you do not understand she helps you one on one. Try not to miss class, but if you have to, let her know ahead of time and she will help you.
Rude, not helpful, not enough time on tests, snarky to students who express concerns (about 15 came forward and said the tests didn't have enough time and she said "that wasn't a question" on the ask the teacher forum). Do NOT recommend to anyone.
She is VERY clear in her instruction giving so no need to be worried about not understanding what to do. If you don't come to class, you better read & practice your textbook exercises because that is exactly what she has on the test. If you participate & interact more, she is more generous towards your class. She's not mean, she only seems tough.
Great teacher. She puts on a tough front for those that are just there to fool around, but she really does care about her students and wants everyone to pass. If you read and learn the material, participating when she asks, she'll stay in a good mood. Gives some bonus points for answering questions in class. Serious about it? You should get an A!
Prof. Thomas initially comes off as strict and intimidating, but she's actually quite hilarious and understanding. Her class is difficult, and her lectures only cover a small percentage of the concepts presented. Make sure to do ALL the homework and STUDY the end-of-chapter quizzes - that's basically where all the quizzes and tests come from.
Do yourself a favor and don't take this class. The teacher is snarky, rude, and not helpful at all. The tests don't give nearly enough time. At least 15 students mentioned that they ran out of time for them and she basically told us "tough." Tests are 25% of your grade so if you run out of time you are screwed. No curve, no extra credit.
BEWARE! If you are looking for an online class that works with your work schedule. This is not it. Tests and quizzes are due by Wednesday at 6PM. Other assignments are due by Saturday at 6PM. All other online courses are due by Sunday at 1159PM. Teacher was not helpful, not understanding, and test software was glitchy.
Mrs. Thomas is by far my favorite professor at Troy University! She is funny and cares about her students. The course is tough consisting of five exams and a couple of pop up quizzes, you have to stay on top of the homework (it is a big part of your grade). Mrs. Thomas is very clear about what she expects from her students and how to pass the class
Loved this class, it builds upon itself and gets harder as you go along, you must pay attention and do your homework. Homework is a big part of the grade so do your grader projects and homework, tutors are available and will help you if you do not understand. Her lectures is not boring and she truly cares about her students and encourages them.
This class is a very "OMG" class but if you study you can get through it. just try to pass everything and try to pass all the exams with at least a 70 or higher. be prepared to READ and do a lot of homework on MyITLab!! all i have to take now is the final exam i'm praying i do well on it to make at least a B, i will either pass with a B or C :)
She is definitely a great teacher but participation and attendance matters the most!!
TONS of reading. She is not very helpful nor does she seems like she cares.
Coming into the class not knowing a single thing about computers, her fun personality and caring attitude towards her students made this class quite enjoyable. Don't be afraid to joke around because she likes a fun and responsive class. She is a great Christian woman who radiates Christ through her work. Definitely my favorite teacher at Troy!
She's funny but she is also so rude. if you come to her office hours she's very helpful but that's the only good thing about her. TONS of busy work, tons of reading, and she acts like this class is as important as med school. No extra credit, no curve, if the computer glitches she doesn't care and you get a 0. I don't recommend.
IS 2241 is a tough class. Sandra Thomas is a nice professor. But the class itself is hard. You get assignments like almost every single day. And there is lot to read for exam. I somehow managed to get an A but it took a lot of hard work. Nevertheless, miss Sandra is a caring professor. But for this course, you have to get prepared from beginning.
She is very straight forward and takes her class very serious, however she gets respected for it. Enjoyed her class. There is assignments due every week, must stay on top of the schedule, assignments are easy to miss. However, its an easy A if you do the assignments. Test are not difficult if you understand the material. She is very easy to talk to
I took Miss Thomas for IS2241 last sem. The course is really difficult as there are assignments due almost everyday. There is a lot of projects to deal with. She has two graduate assistants in her class who do not allow texting or gossip or anything else.
Come to class and do the assignments. Don't get behind. Mrs. Thomas explains things well, but you have to do your part to keep up. She makes it make sense and you'll be prepared for the exams as long as you do what she asks. Really study for the first exam, it's rough.
I enjoyed Ms. Thomas class. Though it was rigorous, the material was useful and informative. I found the best way to handle the homework was to set aside two or three hours at a library computer and knock out the work required for the next class. So long as you keep up on the homework, Ms. Thomas will be a fun and caring instructor.
The work wasnt hard but very tedious and she isnt lenient if you dont complete your work on time she doesnt care. All the assignments and readings are online and have set deadlines. However I did learn a lot from her class. Shes also very nice and comical.
Loved Mrs. Thomas! A lot of people say she's hard, but she just expects the best out of her students. You have homework due every other night, so it's easy to get behind. Lots of reading as well, but you have everything you need to help you prepare for the test. Once you find a routine that works for you and stay consistent, you'll be fine.
This class is a lot of outside work. There are modules due just about every other day. She is pretty strict and to the point. If you do take this class make sure you participate in class!!!!!! You get extra credit that way.
This class was a lot of work, I was constantly doing homework, projects & exams. The good thing was that I learned a lot because McGraw-Hill SimNet teaches you how to do everything. Professor responds quickly & it can be an easy A if you do all the work required of you. It consists of Word, PowerPoint and Excel, Excel being a little more difficult.
Mrs. Thomas makes you work for your grade. If you slack off, you won't pass. She's strict but she's a very sweet person and really cares about her students. You HAVE to come to class because lectures are very important. The tests aren't super hard if you study. Be prepared to come into class ready to work.
its a lot of work because its a lot to learn but if you show up and do your work then you will pass
An Amazing professor who clearly cares about her students. I don't think I am going to pass the class (unexpected personal issues), but she could not have been more amazing. Take her class if you have an opportunity to do so.!
Dont skip but its a pretty easy pass. Make sure you take tests BEFORE or the day of the test because no make ups after. Respected teacher fr fr. Shes a straight shooter so do your work, participate in class, and you shall pass.
Easily the most worthless class I have ever taken. There is zero guidance other than take the module and quizzes/assignments. Anyone could honestly teach this class because all you have to do is assign 26 assignments per module and let the course guidance do the work. Preach proper grammar but can't use it on syllabus - worthless
Lots of homework, you have to be in class for lectures and in class assignments. She does give opportunities for extra credit.
i love mrs. thomas! she is very strict about how her class is run. literally just do what she says when it comes to projects and homework. if she tells you to read the modules, READ. willing to help and talk to you after class. gives you extra credit for every test if you participate.
Super easy! The asmnts for the first 1-2wks are ALOT, easy but takes ALOT of time. After that, theres like 2 chapters with a reading and assignment, which are both EASY. The next week its 2 chapters and exam. It rotates. Final exam is comprehensiveoctored. She has clear guidelines so she is a little strict about them since she lays it all out.
Thomas is very strict, but not mean. Info isn't hard to grasp, but there's SO much of it you'll spend a lot of time reviewing, and can be frustrating. First test is most info-dense. Be prepared to participate in class, extra cred from answering easy questions goes a long way, and if nobody answers her questions she is prone to giving pop quizzes.
To strict in my opinion. I participated in the online class. And she really over complicated everything. Work assignments should have been a lot more simple. This online class will take a lot of your personal time because assignments will take hours to finish. I do not recommend taking her class at all. I did pass the class, just dont take hers
This online class was very clear-cut and to the point. The textbook gives assignments inside the sections via SimNet and it's an overall good system though can get very tedious. Just be sure not to procrastinate and get the assignments done during the week don't wait till the last min. Overall shes a fine teacher (no lectures tho)
This class is soooooo time-consuming. Her lectures are extremely heavy and the classes are huge so you can't get one-on-one to learn. She just expects too much.
Hated this class. She's the best 3 out of the ones that teach this class but it truly is dreadful. Loads of work, expensive textbook, hard tests. Work really hard and you'll get a B.
Ms. Thomas gives LOTS of opportunities for extra credit and bonus points. Definitely show up to class (there are attendance quizzes) and participate to get extra points towards your exams. There is a ton of homework for the class, but its pretty easy to get a 100 on all your homework assignments if you do them on time. Not as bad as people say!!
Professor Thomas treats Computer Concepts like a class required for graduation your senior year. Assigns too much homework, and disrespects her students. You really have to work in this class, but it is possible to get an A. If you can, take this class online! It's worth it, even if you have to pay hundreds of $ extra!
Enjoyed the class, if you want a good grade show up and participate.
Good teacher overall. Just a lot of online homework and participating matters, however wouldnt take her again.
Overall not a tough class, but she makes it feel like you must know every single things about each software or you will fail. Attendance is required and LOTS of lengthy homework. I would never take her again but she is the only professor with the highest rating.
Shes really not as bad and people say. Her class can get really heavy, but as long as you stay organized and study, then the class is a breeze. She also posts study guides before most of the tests that are just like the actual exam.
Get ready to do most of the work for this class on your own time. You barely do anything in class besides going over PowerPoints of information youve already looked at in the modules. She does give some extra credit on tests if you answer questions and participate.
She and Dr. Rouse are awful teachers. They made my friend cry in class one time the fact they still have a job is amazing.
Mrs.Thomas was amazing and very lenient! I was worried about how much homework this class consisted of, but it was honestly very easy. Do all the assignments way ahead of the due date so you are not rushing at the end of the semester. Study guides are optional, but are exactly like the test. I would do them if you want a good grade on exams.
