Explains concepts well, average easiness, easy final exams
No Comments
non-majors bio is easier than high school bio, outlines for notes and practice tests are available and show up verbatim on tests
TAKE NOTE and you will be fine
She gives overheads that will help you soooo much on the test. Plus she is really nice! I would definitely recommend her.
This prof. explains things in ways that assist a great deal in understanding the material. She offers extra credit opportunities. Very easy and friendly instructor.

She made biology very easy and understandable. She clarifies things very well, and offers outlines of the notes.
She is one of the nicest professors I've had, and her tests are really easy.
Freakin awesome
Great teacher and she gives good test reviews the class before the exam. If you miss less than 3 classes, she dropped you lowest test grade.
awsome techer, has helpful class notes. Very nice and willing to help.
Excellent teacher!!!!
Not many people have good things so say about her in this class. She's mean
She is nice, but manages the class like its high school. But of course a lot A&P students probably have to managed that way. She made a good number of mistakes in lecture; her depth of knowledge isn't adequate, imo.
She is a very good teacher and posts notes online the only thing is her tests are written in text book language just go to class and take notes and youll be fine
DEFINITELY has gotten harder from before she used to teach. her tests are ridiculously hard but her notes are really great and they can hlpe out a lot...
Amazing class, real easy, she gives you her own set of notes, which are great for the test , those notes are basically what you gotta study. i never had to read the book and i got an A. i recommend her for any bio class you take
Give notes on word/power point, even if you're lazy just show up to class and listen. You'll def pass if you dont miss class. extra reading is helpful but not NEEDED
She is a good teacher, she provides a website with notes that you have to print out and fill in, a lot better than making your own notes! She tries really hard! Biology is just sometimes hard but she does her best! Her tests aren't easy so you have to study!
Great teacher!
She is the best teacher for this class. she is sooo helpful and clear. she posts online printed fill in the blank kinda notes, were u fill them during lecture. i really like her, and it bothers me that she is married.
Absolutely marvelous professor. As an "older" student, I was impressed with her complete professionalism and organization of a class of around 300. She was inspiring, encouraging and gave every tool necessary to be successful. It is not a easy course, but what Biol major course is? She provided online lecture notes, xtra credit. Always helpful!
I had her for science writing. She is very helpful but she is not really clear about instruction and she grades hard on small minors things. you really have to be careful about details in your work. Otherwise, lots of points get cut off and sometimes she can be a stereotype. She might treat u differently then other students base on your performances
Took Biology w/ her. She is a great professor. Gives notes to you, all you do is fill in the blank w/ missing details. Tests are soooo easy. Definately recommend u take her class for an easy A.
Makes it way to easy to take notes since she gives you an outline of what she is teaching. Very clear about her expectations. Great teacher. Ridiculous that UTA is packing 270 people in a class. Just think if the $$$ they are taking in and only paying one instructor for while cramming students together in a cramped "learning" environment.
This teacher does not have good communication skills. This was a wintermester class and she was unreachable by phone and email most of the time. She only allowed 20 mins to do 51 questions, and I type 90 wpm and still couldn't finish it in time. The last test was not even openable for several hours, and she could not be reached before the deadlin
She is one of the best bio teachers when it comes to easiness. If you show up to class and take notes and study the notes for the test, also the old tests given from the last semester, you are basicly garaunteed at least a B in the class. Dont even need to read the book.
I took her online medicial terminology Fall 08 and it was terrible! The material is wack, and unless you are very knowledgable in this area (like if your are a doctor) the questions take you more than a minute to think about but she gives 25min to answer 50questions! Hard class, I recommend taking this in class with her than on-line!
Dr. Westmoreland means business! You have to study extremely hard to get a good grade on her test. Her test are timed and you have to be super fast at answering no time to eliminate answers. If only there was a teacher that taught the class at school.
Easy A if you've already taken A&P. Probably more difficult if you have not. Tests are multiple choice. No fill in the blank. You have to know the material, though, because you only get 30 minutes to answer 50 questions. You can use your book if you are quick enough! Your grade is the average of 4 major exams. I definitely recommend this class!
Very difficult tests. The hardest part is trying to understand what she's asking. Final counts a whole lot. IF you struggle with test taking skills DON'T TAKE FROM HER.
well there is a reason that she only gives on line classes now- she just won't deal students, no compassion or wiliness to be flexible, the class is designed 4 speed & precision, not only need to know the material(terms) but phrasing as well(tricky) diagnosis or symptoms lists to figure out Q then A? she doesn't care unless Dean gets involved.
If you have taken A&P I and II, this class will be a "refresher" course. I read the chapters but I did not study much as much of the information on here is from what I learned in A&P. If you have not taken A&P then this class will require you to study alot more. I recommend doing all the online modules and the workbook exercises. If you have not ta
Dr. Westmoreland is very busy and doesn't have much time to respond to emails. She leaves everything to the TA (online assistand)who is horrible(Flora J Roberson) she doesn't respond to emails, enter wrong grades and is very rude!) I can't see why Flora Roberson is allowed to work for Dr. Westmoreland. Tests are timed 30min 50 questions.
As as nurse, I thought this would be no problem, but she made this class way too hard to pass with an A. There are 4 exams each has 50 questions and you only get 30 minutes to answer them. TOO SHORT! EVEN FOR A NURSE! If you've never taken A&P, expect to fail this class, if you have, good for you and pray to can read and do the matching questions.
Online class. Prior knowledge of med terms is helpful. Book is vital. I learned a lot of anatomy studying for this class. Test questions can be tricky, I always felt rushed when taking them, but it's all straight from the book and website. Lots to memorize, don't get behind! Prompt replies to emails, great structure to online material.
I enjoyed this online course, but I am a nurse and had prior knowledge of the material. I took this class as an elective for my BSN. I really used the online activities and hardly looked at the book. You really have to know about A&P or you might have a hard time in this class because the tests are limited to 30 mins.
Like all the reviews before me, I do recommend taking A&P first, but it is definately possible to pass this class even if you haven't taken A&P. The test are hurried, 50 q's in 30 mins, with some q's being multiple matching questions, so be prepared to also identify pictures. It's a horrible class, but the only teacher UTA offers for this req..
Dr. Westmoreland guides the class but this course is mainly a self-directed study. A&P is not required because as long as you read the textbook, it goes over the A&P in a brief and concise manner. The exam is definitely hurried, but the difficulty is reasonable. People who struggle in this course probably don't put enough effort in the class.
Teacher was very helpful and responded to all emails very quickly. You only get thirty minutes for a 50 question exam, but if you study and know the material it is not too difficult. The online exercises help you alot. Easy class if you've already taken A&P. The course is put together extremely well. Overall great teacher.
My fav class yet! Took this online. Extremely accessible to get an A in this course. Easy reading, i've taken A&P I before alrdy but this class explained A&P at a more better (and beginner level)! So it's not required to have A&P I. Do all MTI exercises and quizzes, fun interactive games, super fun class and learned a lot! HIGHLY recommend!!
This class is freaking hard. If you like to cover 5 chapters in 30 minutes, which is insane, then this is your class. Be prepared to memorize everything in the book.
I took this class online. Very easy A. Four exams all very fair and concise. Make sure to do all of the practice quizzes and you should have no problems.
This is really a medical terminology class. Very easy if you have any medical background or have taken A&P. No real instruction. It is a learn on your own structure. Only 4 tests make up the grade so be prepared when you take them as they count a great deal.
Class is easy if you've taken A&P or have any medical background. I studied a ch a day, did all of the activities and did pretty well but be warned some of the chapt are long so you shouldn't wait till last min to study. 4 Exams 50 Questions in 30 min. It really not as bad as it sounds. If you put in a decent amount of effort should be an easy A.
Easy online class. Just read the book and take notes. The access code for the book was not required but it help if you do the activities.
I found a lot of old tests from a friend (they are out there! Ask around!) I was able to just have 2 laptops open at once and search for the test answers that way. I didn't have to do any work at all. I took it during the wintermester. Made an A like it was nothing.
IF YOU HAVE NOT TAKEN A&P RECENTLY I WOULD NOT TAKE THE CLASS UNLESS YOU HAVE A LOT OF EXTRA FREE TIME TO RESEARCH. THIS IS NOT AN EASY CLASS FOR RNS THAT HAVE BEEN OUT OF SCHOOL FOR A LONG TIME. INFORMATION COVERED ON ASSIGNMENTS ARE NOT ON THE TEST. THIS CLASS SHOULD BE CALLED A&P. NOT SURE WHERE MEDICAL TERMINOLOGY CAME IN.
I relied heavily on the book, because that's were the exams came from. Some of the exams were pretty hard, because so much material was covered. Some of the chapters are 40 pages long. That's only one chapter and you had to read four or five chapters for the exam! You had to complete learnsmart assignments and online practice quizzes also.
Before Spring 2015, you had 50 questions in 30 minutes, No LOCKDOWN BROWSER and all questions in one page so you had chance to go back and forth. WELL NOT FOR US starting this semester. One question at a time and no chance to go back and forth.. Can you read &answer a question in 36 secs and no chance to go back??? GOOD LUCK!!!!
The testing is ridiculous! you would think 30 minutes would be enough to take a test but its not. When you have to read scenarios you don't have time for other questions. I just finished my last exam and i didn't pass the course. Do NOT take this class.
Get ready to read the whole book. The tests are 50 Q's in 30 mins, which is doable, but you're going to need to put a lot of time into this class. Only 4 tests so make them count. Do the LearnSmart, but do NOT rely on it for tests, the tests come straight from the book text, DO THE EXERCISES! Made an 88 overall, made A's on 3 tests, w a C on one :(
this class is very unfair but...... i did not read a SINGLE page. i did not study for a single minute. all i did was the homework and even then i just tried to get through it. TO GET AN A. BUY THE ONLINE CHEGG BOOK. SEARCH FOR KEY WORDS FROM THE TEST IN THE ONLINE BOOK. THATS IT! i got an A. have two computers, one for the chegg book. trust me!
She is a good teacher. I love her. She is slow but clear during lectures. She posts all the notes on Blackboard for you to fill in the blanks during class. Her tests were really specific. If you study the notes and understand it, you will be good.
do the learn smart. tests are straight from the book. do the review questions and you're good.
This class was easy. its Medical terminology so there is a lot of reading to do. As long as you do the homework and tests you will pass. She's very understanding and supportive. I will take her again.
Took her medical terminology class online. Super easy A. Only grades were from 4 exams (no final) and the learnsmarts for each chapter. Learnsmarts are time consuming, questions are like 100+ for each chapter but easy.
As a logophile, I naturally love medical terminology and read every chapter of the book for this class. If you read and take notes, you will pass and be at an advantage when entering any medical profession. This professor is not very demanding which I greatly appreciated, but you'll learn a lot.
This class is an easy A. The learn smart (homework) are very time consuming, expect +100 question per chapter. Other than that, everything else was very easy. Exams are doable if you read the chapters. There are 4 exams and no final. Lockdown Browser is required but no camera.
MED TERM: The class is easy but the amount of work needed to finish it is too much. I studied more for this class than my Pathophysiology class. You need to read A LOT! Info will be helpful but I recommend taking another upper division class. Replies to emails also take too long. It's really hard to appreciate the quality of class if taken online.
This class is very easy if you have already mastered your previous science courses. If not then it might be a challenged. I blazed through this course with minimal effort.
I have encountered several times where the assignments were faulty. The interactive assignments have miskeyed fill in the blanks, no way to receive points for them, even after notifying instructor. Being 80% of the class comes from tests, its unfortunate the only means of cushion is compromised. I would not recommend until the prof gets it together
The exams and quizzes are now recorded. Homework such as the interactive activities can sometimes have no answer due to it being input wrong in the system. I would not recommend taking her since she changed her formatting for the class. She is slow at responding to her emails so there is no point in doing it. Overall, AVOID at all costs.
Have to use camera now!!! 6 hws and 6 activities with so many quest. and even if you add these quest. to your quizlet or study plan they wont be in the exams. Exams are so hard! No extra cred. only drops hw and act. which hardly counts. Now that students use camera the format should be diff and not exp the same from those that didn't have camera
*** DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS*** This class has a ton of homework using a horrible online book. I tried to download the app to do homework on the go but the app keeps closing and starting over. The test are really hard even if you do the homework. You only get 40 mins for 50 questions, no time to think about how to spell the terms or deconstruct them
Tests did not match the assignments. Hard to distinguish what will be important for exams.
She usually doesn't respond to emails if you have questions, which doesn't help because its an online class. Homework does not match the tests, and thee tests are recorded. Doesn't give a study guide or any extra credit. You're expected to memorize 6 chapters for every test. Homework and activities are only worth 20% of your grade.
4 exams, 5 chp each. There is no clear distinction of what we should know for the test. We read the entire 5 chapters and determine whats important, and complete two hw assignments that don't prepare us for the exam at all. Also, her "help you get ready checklist" is basically her saying "read, take notes, do the hw, study, take the practice quiz"
This professor is absolutely no help whatsoever. She doesnt care about her students and if you reach out and email her she will not respond. I took this class as an elective and it was more difficult than my A&P class. If you have a choice of another class I would stay clear of Westmoreland
She redid the course for Fall '18 and it's IMPOSSIBLE. This class is not med term, but random patho/pharma/a&p facts picked out of the book. The homework takes forever and is only worth a small portion of your grade. I was excited for this class but even RN's were failing the tests. 6 ch per test, webcam required w/ fill-in-the-blanks on exam. NOPE
This class is what you make of it. Homework is alot, but easy and you can redo it until you get 100, same with practice quizzes, 4 exams, they are very similar to practice quizzes, study actual medical terms, not the anatomy, thats just for the HW, not on the exam. Tests are timed 50 questions in 40 minutes, know your stuff!
Please do not take this course. I am an RN and I have answered more homework questions then when I was pepping for the NCLEX. THIS IS AN ELECTIVE. This class cost me $1000.00 and all it is hundreds upon hundreds of online test bank questions every week followed by a monitored pre test and monitored post test. The epitome of busy work.
Online class, online textbook req, open book, 6 book assignments, 6 homework, 4 exam no final, 4 group discussions, when doing exam & homework open book in sep website so you can go back and fourth use "search" button to look up answers. Homework & book questions guess until its correct. Easy A. Lots of work but easy since it is open book.
Before I started this class I thought it would be a good refresher of medical terms but also an easy A. While I still got an A in the class, it was not easy. You have to do a lot of work, and I am not exaggerating. However, it will help in your career field and will make a difference in the care of your patients. Even still---it's very doable!
Four modules in total due within a month time frame for each, filled with online homework assignments for roughly 5-7 chapters per module. Since this class was open book, it helped tremendously when taking the exams. It helps if you have taken A&P 1 and 2.
Awesome class, you learn a lot, you read a lot its very important in the nursing field to understand the body and medical terms, teacher was great as well as the coaches, they respond to emails right away, you only fail if you dont do the work, you can work ahead, you will need the book I recommend this class. Awesome
Nursing 3309. Would take again!
This class is one of the easiest class' I've ever taken at UTA. I took this class during a pandemic, so this class was switched to online. Your only homework assignments are to finish the McGraw assignments, which are given every 2-3 weeks so you have plenty of time to finish. Your review is unlimited attempts, exam is 2 attempts, both open notes.
This class was very simple, but it's a lot of busy work. You have to purchase a 100 dollar online program to do all of the homework assignments. They are long and tedious with some feeling completely unnecessary. But if you need an elective credit, just take this one. It's an easy A! All exams are open book. And professor is easy to reach.
Work load is massive. You have two weeks to complete each module, but you need to be doing assignments everyday, it's so much. Assignments are easy, but take forever. Each question consists of 10 more questions type of thing. Open book & note. The online book system lags a lot, I recommend the physical book. Easy, but SO time consuming.
easy class, easy A but this class has so much unnecessary workload, we have two different sets of HW which are very time consuming, do not wait until last minute because you will feel overwhelmed, exams are open book and so are the quizzes. its doable but you have to work on each EVERYDAY overall cool class but too much work.
Took her for the summer--terrible. The CONTENT is easy, yet she loves stacking it. I've had 12 assignments per week. She sets the grading criteria, but she tends to not follow them & does not follow up with students quickly! DO NOT TAKE HER. Also, funny how a med term prof is strict on spelling but makes so many typos herself. LOL! CHECK YOURSELF!
I'm probably a classmate of the previous two people who gave 3309 reviews and agree with everything they said about the workload. Even worse for me, I lost a family member during the course and asked for an extension but was never granted one. Idk if they're legally obligated to grant extensions or not, but her refusal to do so seems unreasonable.
Took this professor recently and I honestly hated every bit of the class, I could not catch a break and it seems that others couldn't either. Also, a classmate lost a relative during the course and the professor did not grant her an extension of one day - like seriously? Avoid taking this professor at all costs.
I took this class over summer for 8 weeks. It was all online. At first I was very frustrated and wanted to drop it. I know it is easy to make an A if you pace yourself. There is a ton load of homework, but it can be done. The professor is easy to reach. I enjoyed the class. Don't wait until the last minute to do your homework.
Workload is a lot ngl, she gives you 3wks to finish all assignments for a module, I did them in 2 days. DO NOT PROCRASTINATE! Assignments are easy just time-consuming. Several times I was having trouble & she would respond in
WARNING: Prof uses MCGRAW HILL CONNECT. So if you have ADHD and interested in getting burned out by completing 50 Med Term concepts, take this class. The content is easy but the boredom is what causes the drop in grade. Make sure you don't procrastinate on the last day the assignments are due. However TB and HW is free acess in her class.
Great class I got an A but it's an easy A. This class is important and the way it's formatted makes it hard to learn. I wish we had lecture videos. It's all on mcgraw hill. 4 units each has 5-7 chapters maybe, one hw quiz, one practice exam (graded), and one exam. Everything is open book so it makes it hard to fully learn. Great prof!
Dr Westmoreland was very communicative and always made grading criteria very clear. This class is very time consuming and there are SO MANY McGraw Hill assignments. Quizzes are open book, so they are easy to do well on. As long as you complete everything on time, it is an easy A. Just be prepared for this class to take up a lot of your time.
So I'm usually not a person to leave reviews but beware this professor does not curve, add extra credit, or anything of the sort to try and even work with you. Keep in mind this is an online nursing class she takes a while to respond, and her grading policy is stringent. Lots of work but it's easy overall.
She responds in a timely manner outside of class and let me fix a mistake on a discussion post. She gives a month to complete lots of assignments and they will get to you if you do not stay on top of it. They are fairly easy and all quizzes and exams are open note/open book.
Students should expect a heavy workload from this professor, which may limit time for other classes. Be mindful of strict deadlines and grading policies. Communication can feel repetitive, and grading is mostly automated, with open-book assessments and retakes allowed. The material is engaging but is best taken as a sole or last course.
This class is a breeze if you stay on top of the McGraw Hill assignments. The open-book quizzes and exams make it easy to do well, and Unstuckstudy is a lifesaver for study prep. Just be ready for a heavy workload.
Great professor, but if you can choose to not take this course, do not take it. There is a lot of work and it's an online only class. Do not take the course if you are not a fan of online courses. If certain assignments are incomplete before due date, but close to due date, be ready to received emails asking why it is incomplete.
Easy A, but a lot of easy tedious work. Once I realized which resources to use for which homework, the time went by faster. Use the McGraw-Hill textbook and chatgpt/Google Studio ai, other than that I can't complain because its not too bad for an upper division elective.
Sorry, Westmoreland Idk all of TAs that facilitate the class. This class requires hours of reading, memorization & work. I aced hw, but got my 1st B ever because discussions are weighted too heavily & unfairly. I.e. the assignment was to define 2 look-a-alike/sound-a-like words. I picked cervical & cervical! Neck & reproductive... got an F. Lame!
She was great! She would always remind students that assignments were due. Easy A
