One of the most open-minded teachers you'll meet, her lectures are very well planned, she allows you to retake tests/quizzes should any personal problems arise, you always feel very motivated to come to her class. Professor Somo was so awesome, she is young and full of energy. This was one of those classes that you go into totally blind and you leave woke! Her lectures were concise and organized, 3 exams which were incredibly easy, and weekly online reading quizzes. I will definitely be taking another class with her.

She is sooo nice, vibrant, intelligent, and caring. Some people teach because they can't do anything else, and some people are destined to be an educator and she falls into the latter category. A bit of a slow grader but generous with her grading. Don't regret taking her at all. Really like the detailed feedback she gives on papers too. Thoughtful.

Somo is a great professor who is truly passionate about the material she teaches. She is willing to work with students to help them pass. You literally have to try to not pass! Working in teams does get to be a bit annoying, but other than that the class itself is really informative and active with class participation and discussion.

I have never had a teacher more excited to teach in my life. I had her for Hybrid Sociology (which i recommend 100% over regular class). She talked for a good 4 hours and was still full of energy. Shes funny & overall a good teacher. Your work, quiz's, and final/midterm are online.

Really good professor. The class is super easy, so easy A. She grades very leniently on essays, also her tests are not that hard. She gives 20 points extra credit and if you find that a question on the exam was unfair she might give you a point if she agrees. She's compassionate and caring. I definitely recommend taking her for Sociology!!

Took her hybrid Sociology 101 during Fall and it was absolutely the best. We met every other Friday for 4 hours because it was a shorter class; she made those four hours feel like 30 minutes. She is very caring & wants her students to succeed. Very accessible outside of class through Canvas & she's a sweetheart.I would for sure take her class again

Took her in 2018 and just had to come on here to say she is an angel! young and full of knowledge and she had so much passion which made the course very interesting as well (considered switching to socio for a second) but overall, i think about this class from time to time. loved it SM and wish more professors were like her! lol

One of the most sweetest and amazing teachers ever. I have her remote for during the covid-19 outbreak and the fighting going on in Artsakh. I took SOC 101 online as an 8 week summer course and it was simple to get an A. There are a few essays, which are easy to do well as long as you follow the directions. Quizzes and tests/final are also easy, mostly MC and the written is easy. There were weekly online chats where you just answer some questions. Highly recommend this course.

OMG, yes, take her class; you will enjoy every assignment that she assigned. Tests are base on the study guide that she provided. You won't overwhelm with the assignments, she will give you extra time to submit them; you need to email or communicate with her. She is an amazing and caring teacher. 100% take her class.

Caring prof who wants to see her students succeed. Works to understand her student's needs, and is willing to go the extra step to see you achieve your goals. Pretty easy class as well, just make sure to attend class since she doesn't record her lectures.

She's very sweet and will interact with everyone. Class is easy. For SOC104, we had no tests, just various assignments and a final project. I loved this class, but she takes forever to grade, which was very frustrating. Otherwise, I enjoyed the class. I also had 131 with her, which was a bit harder but still easy and enjoyable.

Professor Somo is the definition of a PERFECT professor. She is very caring, very considerate. All her assignments are very straight- forward, and she gives you all the resources to be able to complete them. Workload is not a lot but you learn quite a lot. Weekly discussion posts, quizzes, and projects that have very fun topics.

I took her online class where we didn't meet on zoom and she made all the assignments and excams easy to follow and not confusing at all. she assigns 3 essays throughout the semester with 3-4 topics to choose from. Super easy assignments & quizzes. Exams are MC & short answer. She's an angel.

very easy, routine class. Every week you get assigned a 10 question multiple choice quiz, a 5 question quiz based on a short article, and a discussion post. you also have a 3 exams total which are easy. Honors Project is also really easy, just a research paper and she does a good job assigning it in 3 parts so its spread throughout the semester.

Such a kind professor who actually acts as a teacher should. So rare to find someone this nice at GCC. I wish I could have her for all my other classes.

Took them in Spring of 2022, it was a well-balanced online asynchronous course! Not too much homework but also not too little, discussions were engaging and the final was a written report, would take again!
