Professor Sanja is an asset to UTM. She's one of the newer profs hired by the Bio dept at UTM and I have to say, she has made the courses (bio202 + bio210) fun to learn. She is always willing to help and values critical criticism regarding her lectures. I do wish that she would keep lectures more structured but with time comes experience.
I don't think she's very clear in lectures but probably bc she's too nice! always lets the dumb kids talk over her in lecture and actually stops lecture to address stupid questions! but she's helpful. willing to explain further on portal, office hour and even spends time posting answers to "most asked qns" before a test!
I feel like all the new profs in the teaching stream value Rawle's teaching style too much - a mix of explaining concepts, clicker qns, showing useless (yet interesting) articles. the mixture of stuff takes up time in lectures bw all the techy problems and switching bw styles. keep it simple! really helpful + passionate tho :) and nice!
Very nice prof who is always there for her students, too bad she cannot convey material well at all. Test 1 was brutal, test 2 very easy, exam was terrible- content I've never heard of. Had her for another course before and I hope to not be in her class again.
She's really nice and is willing to help her students. She can be a bit unclear at times, but she'll clear up any questions, and she'll work with the deadlines for tests and assignments so that it'll be in favour of students' schedules. If you need a bio class to take, I'd definitely take hers! Her tests are also very fair!!!
Unclear lectures. Ordered a useless custom edition textbook ($100 wasted). Helpful in office hoursemails. Tests weren't super easy or super hard. Exam was really hard. LABS ARE BRUTAL AND WORTH A LOT!!!
She really cares for her students and enjoys teaching, she's fun. I just don't like her powerpoints I wish they had more info pertaining to what needs to be known. The midterm exam was brutal. Her tests are just much harder than the type of questions we do in class.
GOOD PROF! Shes one of the very few profs who will actually put so much effort into clarifying content that may seem confusing. In terms of the way she taught the course, unfortunately I feel like I've learned most of the content from the textbook. Her tests were fair, the 2nd midterm being the easiest (i got a 94), along with the exam.
One of my few professors that actually cares about the students. If she notices that people aren't understanding the content or that the test didn't go well, she will review that material and even take the mark off the test. She is really smart and I enjoyed her lectures. Labs were tough, work hard and you can get a good grade.
Although Sanja can be a bit unorganized at times, she was a great professor who explained things as clear as possible. There isn't much point going to lectures because she bases everything off the lecture slides along with information in the textbook. Overall, great course, super applicable, and wouldn't want anyone else teaching it :)
Prof's really cool and nice (favorite prof). Her tests are super easy, it's so easy to get a 4.0 in this class. If you just read the damn textbook. Not even the textbook, just look at her slides, all the test questions are from her slides. Its a physiology course, so obviously some memorization is required, but OVERALL BEST CLASS EVER WOOO!
Sanja is a great prof! She's engaging and enthusiastic. Her tests are easy as long as you study! She only tests you on the things she has in her lecture slides, nothing else. She's funny and gives great examples and tips for remembering things. Heads up this course has a lot of memorization, if you find that hard, then it might not be for you.
She enjoys what she teaches and is pretty clear. Tries to make future test better with a lot of feedback. She recently increased the amounts of test, one every two weeks which is much better than one huge cumulative one. Tests are mostly from the lecture slides and she will tell you that so believe her. She likes to make sure you understand.
SUCH A NICE PROF. She actually cares about her students and wants you to succeed in the course. didn't need to touch the textbook everything is on the slides but its not clear unless you go to class
Expectations unclear. Lecture disorganized. Better to rely on textbook.
One of the best biology profs at utm. she was always there to help you. Also, her tests are not hard, they are based on her lectures. so if you just read her slides, you will get a 4.0 for sure.
This course would be better with another instructor. The quizzes every 2 weeks are basically like midterms, and the labeling is impossible since there are about 40 possible images to be tested on for each quiz. Lectures are confusing, she basically just reads off slides but is always stressed/chaotic. Better to just skip & do readings on your own.
This prof tries very hard to connect with her students :) ... but fails. She is very vague on what she expects on the assignments, grades them very harshly. I ended up dropping the class.
A really caring professor. Always does her best to address questions and encourages you to connect concepts (seen in test application questions). She asks for feedback constantly to improve her teaching style (you will see changes for the better while taking the course). Makes lectures fly by.
Terrible at teaching, but very cool as a person. The class is pretty easy.
Bad at lectures. Explains concepts in unorganized ways. Best to read the text before going to class, but a lot of the material in the text isn't covered in lecture, so lot's of time gone to something that won't be evaluated. She does go out of her way to answer questions, and responds to emails clearly.
Sanja is a very good professor. She actually cares about her students and always asks for feedback so that she can adjust the way she is teaching in a way that is best suited for the class. Her tests are also not bad as long as you put the work in for the course.
She tries to integrate too many types of learning into lectures, causing her to have to rush through material or skip it altogether, leaving it for students to learn on their own. Seems like a nice person, but I did not enjoy being a student in her classes.
She is cute and all but makes tests extra hard for no reason. Her Multiple choice is harder than the course itself smh.
Professor Sanja is very caring, understanding, and enthusiastic. The problems are the way she can be disorganized during lecture and the unclear wording of her MC questions.
She will only test you on things she never cared to taught. I'd commute to downtown rather than taking another course with her.
She needs to realize that we are not elementary school students. Entertaining lectures are appreciated to a certain extent only. Not to forget, the actual purpose is to learn and understand the course content, which she gets no time to cover, thanks to the useless activities. Disappointing exp, yet again. Easy exam, but Marking scheme is strict.
You will find the most pointless fill in the blank questions in her exams. It doesn't matter whether you attend the lecture or not because she will ask questions that are not covered in the class. The content is lengthy, but you can score well if you write exactly what she expects you to write.
I hope to never have a class with this prof again, her lectures were a joke. She would post pictures on almost every slide with minimal to no description, and going to the textbook made it worse since it was so in depth, she wastes class time with childish activities. YouTube and friends are your best resources, cause this prof is won't teach you
Unorganized, all over the place. Doesn't explain clearly, stopped going to class & read the textbook. Study from lecture slides because there is less detail than the textbook. Study diagrams in lectures! Snakes on MC due to vagueness &ambiguity. She tries to be funny, is caring but just not the best teacher. Attended only 1 tutorial, they dont help
She's great
At least she is good at teaching
I appreciate her attempts at making the lectures more energetic and interesting. however, she, unfortunately, fails to do so. The tests and marking schemes are what will flip you off the most. I've seen people doing this year-long course over a period of 4 months in summer and score better than her class. Save yourself the hassle. AVOID.
Would her if you are able to. Not only does she often have typos in her lecture slides (the type that would make you completely misunderstand a concept), but also often makes mistakes explaining the material in class. She likes to ask trick questions in multiple choice, and her wording is often vague. At least she'll only ask what's on her slides
Sanja is a very disorganized prof, but makes up for it by giving free marks in the groups tests (2 bonus marks), online completion assignments and LC participation. If you know how to self-teach and memorize you will get an easy A. Term tests were easy, but the 2 finals exams are a bit more difficult because of volume of material.
okay she is a nice professor , very energetic but to be completely honest she tends to make the most simple concepts that we learned in high school biology so difficult and confusing... the tests do not reflect the material in lecture at all so might as well study everything from the textbook. i wanted to love her but she's just not a great teacher
Professor Sanjas lectures are disorganized, too much time is spent on Learning Catalytics & the actual content is rushed through. If you can self-teach and memorize from a textbook on your own, youll do well in the course.
I really liked Sanja at the beginning because she is nice, funny, & seems willing to help, but she has a lot of weak points. Every test MC key had errors where she had to make 2 answers correct because she didn't pick up on it. Tutorials were a waste of time. She can be very misleading in her explanations of concepts & assignments. Disappointed.
Prof was sweet and nice but her tests were really hard and confusing. In addition, she doesn't explain the lectures clearly. I feel bad because she is genuinely one of the nicest profs on campus but her teaching style is not very good. I would recommend avoiding her classes if you can.
Here's the thing, I have no idea how I managed to pass this class, The tests were hard & I used educated gusses. Don't attend every lecture, forget about it. Take your time & rest at home or on campus. Read lectures on your own time & use the textbook as an outline for test preparation. Many chances to gain marks, use them to your advantage.
To prepare for tests, you should mainly go over the slides and your lecture notes. Make sure to make good notes and review the LC questions/answers. The textbook is good for extra details incase you missed something and for labelling.
If you put in the work youll get a good mark
Prof. Sanja is a great prof, the course was easy. In fact, we only had to memorize 20 muscles in one unit, which was a joke for an anatomy course. Study two days before and youll still be fine, easiest 90 in my life.
Lectures activity sheets are easy ways to get marks. Labs are fun, learned a lot about birds this way also another easy way to get marks. A lot of assignments but can be flexible with deadlines; grading is fair and good feedback given. Lots of opportunities for extra credit bird watching. Tests were fair. Really enjoyed the course, great prof!
She's great! Her lectures are interesting and her tests are super easy. Readings are not required as she only tests concepts that have been mentioned in class and are found in the slides.
Prof Sanja was one of my favorite profs, simply because she is such a warm and caring person. She always has her students' best interest in mind and goes above and beyond with office hours, group tests, and more to help everyone succeed. Test questions were sometimes odd, but she usually accepted multiple answers if necessary. Amazing prof!
There were 6 tests but because of their predictable format and content it was easy to do well. Lectures were okay. Definitely helped solidify course concepts and are important. Shes very understanding and helps where she can. Would take another course with her.
The course was awesome! Make sure to pay attention during class--she drops hints about what's on midterms. She's very approachable & loves class discussion. Tutorials are great for honing skills relevant to the social-cultural aspect of healthcare and accessibility issues. There's diff. grading options; if you don't like tests, you can opt out!
Make sure to do past tests and look at past exams. read the textbook you're going to need lots of practice. Dont just blandly memorize the stuff but try to genuinely understand it
SHE WAS AWESOMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Cant teach, lectures are useless. She gives free marks and makes you think that she is good professor. Test can be complicated... disappointed.
one of the best profs i've had. very caring and understanding of her students. goes above and beyond to ensure students have all the resources available to make the course go smooth. even has drop in student hours to relax and play games and just get to know your prof and meet with other students. tests are not hard but course content is heavy.
Prof Frlog is by far one of the best professors I've had to date. Very supportive and considerate about your time and stress management. She structured the class excellently and much better when compared to other professors teaching online classes. Lecturettes were extremely informative and the textbook was very important to support learning.
She's amazing and truly cares for her students. She was very considerate given everything going on and her tests were fair. She was flexible too and overall a great prof.
It's clear that she tries to be really revolutionary with her lectures, but it just isn't properly done. It would be better if she focused on the content, rather than trying to have students jump around the lecture hall to show how muscles move. Tries to trick students with her multiple choice, then does nothing when mistakes are found in her tests
Hands-down the most caring and sweet professor I have ever had. She truly cares about her students and wants them to do well, especially during times like these. The combination of asynchronous and synchronous lectures really helped with feeling connected with the class. Her grading scheme is flexible to ensure your mark matches w what you know!
Prof Sanja was absolutely amazing. A DELIGHT this semester. She truly cares about her students, and you can definitely tell. 10/10 would take again.
I'm genuinely sad that my classes with her are done. I've never had a more helpful and thoughtful prof in my university than her. She is a real gem and you can honestly discuss anything with her. I would highly recommend her.
She is a 5/5 no doubt best prof I have had at UTM thus far! Amazingly kind, considerate and overall great person who cares for her students and their well being. She offers so many grading options to make sure it fits your schedule. Tests are fair, and all her customized video lecturettes condense the material you need. No textbook needed!
Professor Sanja is very caring and willing to help her students out. The mark breakdown of the course was rather fair, however the team term tests component was often harshly marked by the TAs. Overall Sanja was very understanding and she made sure to look into all concerns the students had about the course and the content.
she is so sweet and caring. I love her class and would def take again 10/10
She is the BEST professor I have ever had in my entire life. She is caring, loving, accommodating, understanding, supporting, passionate, .... I don't even have the words to describe her. I love her 10/10. will take her again and again and again and forever!
simply amazing. If you run into ANY problem, simply talk to her and she will help you find the best solution.
the best and amazing!
recommended 200%
very accessible outside of class, find the best solutions to problems
100% recommended
most accessible professor I ever had at UofT
goes above and beyond to help students achieve their goals.
She does the most to accommodate all her students needs in order to help them achieve their best possible grades
While she is accomodating for participation and timings of class, her marking schemes are extremely confusing. Her assignment instructions are also just as confusing. She is sweet but her courses are VERY heavy. Get ready to have multiple assignments/quizzes every week.
this woman deserves the world. she was so extremely accommodating and constructed such a course that it was meant to help you get the best marks possible. this class' grading scheme is based on your liking! god bless this angel
Loved this class! They only thing was early mornings for tutorials (8am) but it was a good time to see the birds. Lots of mini assignments that can bring up your grade, just don't forget to submit them (each worth like 1 percent)
Very kind towards students, and explains concepts well. Always willing to be flexible and help students out. Expect to actually know the content for tests. My only real complaint was that tutorials and labs for this class were garbage, and felt like they contributed little to actually understanding course content.
I really liked this class, especially that she included both online and in person options for people that like to work on assignments at their own pace!
She is such a sweet heart. She designed the course for students and unlike some profs really cares about the students in her class. She allows you to pick which grading method you want (you can choose just exams vs exams and assignments) so many options. Its amazing to see someone like her. So glad I got her and appreciate her efforts.
She is an absolutely amazing prof, gave us over 16 options on how we wanted the weightings of projects to be distributed, I wish she was teaching BIO209:(
Prof. Sanja truly cares about her students and it shows through the various choices she provides to students including showing your own assessment methods. Prof. Sanja makes it easier for you to understand through her video and in-person lectures. I highly recommend taking this course with her as you will walk out truly having learnt something!
Prof Sanja is one of a kind. I've never met a professor who catered their entire course to the success and comfort of their students, and she is exactly that. She had many grading options for you to personalize the work you do. My biggest problem was that there are no lectures and only videos + discussions, and how disorganized her Quercus page is.
i appreciated the flexibility with the marking scheme--it freed up a lot of my time. bio208 is a very content-heavy course and she didn't make it nearly as hard as it could have been. midterms and finals are very fair. start early and use flashcards and you'll be fine
She's a sweetheart
Amazing prof! Definitely recommend. Cares so much about her students and actually puts in the effort to ensure they understand the content.
She actually cares about her students and has very flexible grading. She was such an amazing prof.
Professor Sanja had a flexible grading scheme that helped a lot with your grades in my opinion. The textbook readings were not too much, the content and lectures are interesting. The class I took (BIO208 Physiology and Anatomy) was difficult because of how heavy the content is and how much you need to know, not on fault of the Professor
Great professor! She is very respected but never intimidating. Genuinely enjoyed the course because of her. She also allowed and asked the students' opinions regarding ways to improve the course and which writing assignments we prefer. Lots of assignments but professor and the TAs are so helpful. You can always see her passion for the course.
Sanja's tests are relatively fair and she will provide practice tests. Her grading is split among many things, quizzes, tests, and labs, which helps with your final grade. Also, she spends a lot of time with students to help them understand. She will dedicate a lot of hours and Zoom sessions for students to ask questions.
Easy to keep up with, tests are easy to study for with lecture slides and the labs are fun
Really good lecturer. Essentially all of the test content will come from her slides. Not intimidating at all and very approachable outside of class in office hours. Test questions are a little confusing sometimes due to wording, but they are fair. An A in this course is quite doable if you review consistently. Watch out for labelling questions.
Very nice professor, definitely cares, and gives multiple options on what you want your exams and assignments to be weighted. Only concerns, there were a couple mistakes in her lecture slides that went uncorrected until a lot later and wording confusion on exam questions, also the multiple assignments can make the course have a heavy workload
Best prof at utm by far. She cares so much about her students and making everything accessible to them. She only tests on lectures and makes everything so much easier for her students by giving different grading options. My favourite prof ever!
Prof Sanja is one of the best profs I've ever had. I would recommend taking this course with her as well as any other course she teaches. Provides a ton of different grading options for students that prefer tests and students that prefer assignments. Just put in some effort and you can easily get a 4.0 in the course
One of the few professors that genuinely cares about her students. She has an excellent grading scheme and allows all students to do their best at what they're good at.
Amazing Prof , I love her, she is so helpful, and BIO202 and BIO209 are NOT bird courses, put in the effort for the grade you want, or else you will get a 60,
Prof Sanja is a sweet person and always tries to make her class easier. The best thing is her multiple grading options catered to everyone! However, her lecture slides are really unorganized and I don't like studying off them. Her tests are not the best as her wording is very poor and it gets really really confusing.
Dr. Sanja is such an understanding and caring prof. Despite the complex content, she makes her courses seem doable through her flexible grading criteria, recorded lectures, and accessibility via extra office hours. Truly a respectable professor who you can tell cares about her students and the content she teaches.
she is very sweet. cares about learning and students in general. she will try her best to make sure we get a good mark. options for assessments. do practice tests she posts! tt multiple choice is a little vague and can be very confusing! lecture worksheets boost marks lovely prof, her content could use a little explanation.
Super nice, gives flexible grading options so you can pick how you want to be graded based on your needs. Her active learning model made the class interesting and engaging :)
amazing prof. would recommend.
amazing professor; well-spoken, knowledgable and will go out of her way to help you understand the course content. lecture slides were more than enough info to do well in the class, and her flexible grading options are great!! we need more professors like her
Incredibly accomodating. Lots of leniency on test grading. Be sure to engage with lecture content since there is still a lot to memorize, but she gives a lot of ways your mark can stay high (quizzes, labs) and mcqs can sometimes have multiple correct answers. Very friendly and polite in person, relaxing to be around. Highly recommend.
THIS PROF IS GOATED REAL SHI
Sanja is an amazing prof who cares about student learning. With multiple grading options and helpful resources like Unstuckstudy, you can easily get a great grade in this class.
Tough grader
Probably one of the best secondary year profs I've had. She allows students to choose from different grading models which was really helpful. Lectures are really easy to understand and midterms are directly from lectures. Overall really good prof, would recommend.
