She's kind of mean and very strict but if you want to improve your reading and more so your writing then take her.

Prof Nair is one of the best english professors at JJC. She might come off as being strict and hard, but as long as you keep up with her work (which is extensive) you'll be fine. Your writing skills will improve and so will your reading/compr. skills.

All you need to with her is to agree with her. As long as you agree with her you would be straight in the class. Alot of readingand writting but you would get use to it.

Half of the class droped the first day. I think thats her way of getting rid of the kids who thought they could breeze buy. I think she is extremely passionate about the material which makes for some pretty crazy debates in her class. She def is cool. She makes you think but there is work. Quite a bit of writing. she is a very strict professor and she requires that you do alot of work. but she is a very fair person she's very blunt and lets you know whats on her mind. her class is not a breeze, but i enjoyed it because it was interesting and because it presented a challenge. I think she is one of the best professors at JJ. She does give alot of work, but as long as you're responsible, listen, and study for her quizes and tests, you'll be good. She's had a tough year, so don't give er atough time and she won't give you a hard time.

Professor Nair was one of my favorite professors in JJAY. Its true she is not someone you can sweet talk into giving a better grade, but she does give fair grades to begin with. The work is easy and she choses fun topics to write about. 5 short and easy essays, a few quizzes which were easy. The final is so easy its ridiculous.

i had a lot of fun being in her class...im a cheater..always been a cheater and never will stop being one BUT loll thiss is the ONLY class where I did eveyrthing by myself and want to do it...yes she reminds you of the female version of hitler but...trust me you will have fun being in there...think before you speak...thats 1 thing i learned.

This professor is amazing. She is intimidating and very demanding of the students. But my writing skills and analysis skills improved greatly. And shes an attractive woman. I got an A but it was not easy at all. I had to work my tail off and it was worth it. Take this professor if you want to learn and really get a feel for college writing.

I love this professor! If you're looking to improve your writing skills, she's the one to take. She's an extremely fair grader, and you TRULY get the grade you work for. Attendance is mandatory, and if you miss 3 clases, you automatically fail. You have to do the readings, and get the books. She marks you absent if you're late, but I still love her

She REALLY is the best professor so far and pushes for your best. She's VERY intimidating & scary but she does it to weed out those who are not serious. Nair I must say is a great professor.On the first day of class, she will try to intimidate you and make you believe that she is the hardest Professor you'll ever encounter.She only does this to scare off students that are looking to skate through class. Nair made my 1st year experience great at John Jay. I still consider her the best Professor since I started attending John Jay. She's smart and she keeps everyone's attention with the discussions we have. The grades are based on 2 exams, 3 papers (1 being a research paper), participation, and a final composite of all the work done for the semester.

She is beautiful, smart, and her classes are very interesting. If you have a poor attitude towards school or hate working hard, don't bother taking her class.

I had her my second semester and she was great. I have nothing bad to say about her seeing that I passed. She is strict and can be a little rough on some students and make them feel dumb.(which I found funny) The bottom line is that she only makes you feel stupid if you deserve it and if you do the work she will pass you.

She is a very good teacher but she is sarcastic as hell! She is currently prego and is overly dramatic. But I can say that I learned alot. If you follow her directions you will be fine but if you slack then it is all on you. You have to set up appointments with her in order to discuss anything which sucks. The best English professor I've had! She can come off intimidating at first but trust, if you show up to class, read the material, participate & follow the syllabus you will do great. Very tough in the beginning on every student. She expresses her opinion and isn't very open to everyone else's. The first day of class she criticizes what you wear and how you think of the world. She teaches you the modes of argument first half of semester and then you write a big paper. She doesn't grade strict on all the work until the final port

She may seem intimidating at first, but she has a great sense of humor. This class is NOT for lazy students. If you do what you're supposed to do on time you will do fine in this class. If you're not a good writer I would suggest going to the Writing Center. Make sure to ask questions in class if you don't understand!

Shes honestly an amazing english professor. LOOK OUT FOR - Don't answer her questions unless you have proof to back it up. (This class topic is arguments) You go over some Socrates (not that difficult though). Late assignments can get an F, not that hard but you need to put in effort, you wont slide by in here. The class is interesting and Professor Nair does a wonderful job. She is able to turn a boring topic into something worth listening to. Although she can be strict at times a person will do well if they show up to class and do all of the assignments.

Professor Nair is a wonderful addition to the english department at John Jay College of Criminal Justice. She pushes her students to work hard and is very clear with what she expects from her students. She cares about her students doing well and makes sure that everyone is on track. Motivate yourself , do you work, give it 150% and you will be OK!

She isn't as bad as she seems. by the end of the semester she kind of grew on me after a while. she will make you work for your grade. not an easy A. I got an A- and I worked by butt off for it, lots of stress and tears went into that grade.

The reviews on here do not do Professor Nair justice. Not only do I think she is a wonderful professor, she is extremely intelligent and no, she doesn't rub it in your face that she taught at NYU. Her work is more than doable and she gives a reasonable about of time to complete it. She isn't one for excuses. Show up, do the work.

I have not one bad thing to say about Professor Nair. She was one of the best professors I've had and if I ever have the chance to take her again, I would in a heart beat. I absolutely loved this class and Professor Nair. I truly believe my writing has improved with her guidance. The class consists of an ePortfolio project that focuses on the Vietnam War and allows you to write creatively. Students get into groups and read their papers and the best one is chosen for extra credit. That may be tough for shy students.

A real college teacher. APA style papers. If she wants 1 page you must have 1 page not a page and a half. Presentation and debates will b big. E-portfolio is like a final.

Took Professor Nairs class for my fall term, and I thought that she was going to be super intimidating. Turns out, she is super nice and gives amazing feed back on your work. Amazing professor! Be prepared for papers due almost every class, but they are not time consuming papers. The max amount of pages I've done this semester I think was 4 pages. Prof. Nair does make you work for your grade but it's not impossible. No work is more than 2 pages. She wants quality, not quantity. It is true that she is strict but she's also very knowledgeable. In my honest opinion Professor Nair is one of the best professors. She cares deeply for her students, but the key is communication. Rude? no. Stern 100%. Personally this class was alright, I feel like a lot of students struggle at the beginning but at the near end of the semester the work is easier/manageable. She only takes phone calls but if youre in a groupchat with other people who are communicative with her it should be fine. You have to work for your grade but just use Grammarly tbh
