He was a decent teacher, incredibly obnoxious but decent. He wasn't helpful and very uptight and many many MANY papers assigned.

He was one of the authors of the English book that you study from and he previously had a higher position at MCC.I think it went to his head.You can forget about getting A's in his class.He might give you 1 just to trick you so you won't drop his class."DROP HIS CLASS"

Hey..if you want a good english teacher...I recommend Santi V. Buscemi. At first, you get alot of work but as times goes by, you will notice your grades are improving. I recommend Santi guys..he is a nice teacher

Prof Buscemi is a good teacher. Yes, you must be on time and do your work.I realized how good his teaching really was when I took an upper level literature class this past semester. I did very well, because Prof. Buscemi teaches you the correct way of doing things, like MLA format. If you are wiling to work take him, if not, take an art class.
If you are thinking of taking a professor for this course..then this is the right professor. He is awesome as long as you do his assignments and listen to his lectures. I would recommend his class.
this guy made us buy his book, and we didnt open it ONCE. all he cares about is money. hes rude and often put people on the spot when they didnt know the answer. he embarrasses people if they dont read fast enough. there are other good teachers at mcc. dont waste your money.
What a space cadet. breezed through the class, if your looking for an easy class this is it. buy a couple of his books for brownie points. if your going to take this class get familiar with kma format "kiss my a" format, if your a good brown noser and have some salemanship you can have this guy doing backflips real quick. easy to slide by for an A

Very hard working and smart guy
Definitely one of the harder English teachers. If you are a descent writer, you wont have a problem. He is strict at first but cools down as the semester goes on. The good thing is, the papers are only 2.5 to 3 pages and he will let you hand a few in lat. 6 papers total and 2 in class essays. 2 reading quizes. Be on time to class!Good Luck!

Though he can come off as kinda strict and short-tempered, he grades fairly and gets people involved in the class. I did not find him to be unfair at all in grading, and he does not assign too much work.

Very BAD Teacher. Grades are pure nonsense. I had the ACTUAL Dean check my papers that got steadily LOWER grades as the symester went on and even he was confused as to how he grades. the reason i got a B+ in this class was i am a good essay writer. it is not an easy class, you have to write alot and read. he is really strict. if you do work you will pass, but if you are looking for an easy class, this is definately not the one and he is definately not the professor.
I really enjoyed this class. Yes, it's very hard, but I learned a lot about writing and saw my work getting better as the semester went on. He is absolutely hysterical but at the same time very strict. I hope to have him again so that I can become even better at what I do.
If you take his class get someone to prescribe you valium first. I don't know if he was neglected as a child or bullied but this guy has the same type of mentality as someone who becomes a cop just to make peoples' lives miserable. I just hope both he and the students he tortures receive the psychiatric help that is/will be greatly needed.

If he does not "like" your intro he will stop reading the paper half way and automatically mark the paper a D or F with minimal feedback. Expects students to be professionals at writing papers because they have taken ENG-121 before. Take at own risk!

He treats his students like they are soo below him. He does give study quides before the exams which does help out,but is very critcal with the term papers. His lectures will put you to sleep within five minutes of the class.

He's a rough professor, to be sure. He expects you to know, or at least learn, to write well in order to get a good grade on essays. He's also pretty harsh about due dates and attendance. But if you try, and write well, you can definitely get an A in the class.

A terrible professor. He should be fired for his teaching practices. He gives no mercy to anyone! Even if you worked your brains out all day on your paper he will call it child's writing and give you a D if you are lucky. I STRONGLY suggest that you dont take him. I was lucky enough to get a B in his class but he is a horrible professor. Very unprofessional, professors are suppose to encourage you and give you help if necessary, he is not like that at all. Definately should not be teaching.

This professor isn't as bad as people are saying. However, he is a very hard grader and expects you to know a lot about grammer and writing techniques. He also doesn't handle mistakes from students well. He gives only papers out every 2 weeks so the work load isn't too too bad!

Spare yourself from taking this professor. He's a funny teacher but he can be very rude and make fun of others in class. A hard but fair professor. Overall, there is not a lot of work that is assigned over the semester. Lectures can be boring. Grades firmly but fairly.
One of my favorite Professor's in MCC. He is a no nonsence professor, but he really knows his stuff. It is not going to be easy to get an A in his class, but his is fair. By the time you finish with the class you will definitely see an improvement in your writing.
He tests you on your memory.1st,you can never answer unless you have memorized the whole text.Second,he will ask you about the historic things/words in the text. For God's sake,this is not a History class. Asking question is no less than a dare,He'll insult you in front of whole class. Will impose his opinions on your essay & will cross out yours.

Very, very strict! Not too helpful with comments. Had to go to a different professor for help. Struggled through the whole course and didn't get a good grade even though another english professor said my writing was fine.
Teaches well. But he doesn't give a thing about students who try to work hard. I am a nonnative English speaker, and he showed no respect to my effort. All he cared about was the quality. I'm not saying quantity doesn't matter, but it would've been nicer if he gave some credit for the effort also. Good lecturer, but not a nice guy. Also very cocky.
Very good professor. The only reason people hate him is because he sets standards and expects students to meet them (which most obviously don't). When students try to bs him about 'not finding information' or 'my printer wasn't working' he calls them out. If you're a horrible writer and need help he offers tutoring.
You could learn a lot about him, but he super critical on the nidy gritty things you write in an essay. No matter how small he will criticize the word or phrase. He is really down to the rule book and stands by it which can be a pain in the neck. Don't take him he is harsh!!
Professor Buscemi can be crazy, and he's quite strict. He will set standards that have to be followed or else he will call you out on your shortcomings. However, if you put in EFFORT(key word) you will get great results from this professor, as he is a very agreeable and helpful man. His two books are required, but they're cheap, so don't worry.

Very challenging. Extremely rude and cocky. Says he wants to help you but when someone does not know something, he just gets angry instead of helping. I am doing perfectly fine but i hate the class. Makes no effort to know the students. Hes like your worst high school teacher all over again.
His class is very easy to pass if you listen to what he says and make the necessary corrections. He is very strict about cell phones, and tardiness. And he gets annoyed when no body answers questions that you should already know. I hated English before having him and i got an A in both 121 and 122.

Hardest professor I've ever had. I'm an English major & he gave me the first 'C' I've ever received on a paper. A's are hard to acquire...(I ended up as 1 of 2 A's in the class)... Don't expect to be late, get comfortable in your seat, text, smile, or even breathe in his class.
He's a strict professor, and will probably chew you out if you're texting in class, if you're not turning in homework, or just being plain rude to him. But he covers the material thoroughly and gives good feedback for papers. You'll definitely have to make effort in papers, reading, and quizzes if you want to pass.
Personally I found him to be a good professor. He's a bit of a diva but he explains the material very well. Your writing will improve in this class. I finished with an A. He's very particular about how his assignments should be handed I'm but he gives you great outlines of how it's supposed to be. Just don't be late and speak when spoken to.

My whole class did not like him. He is not an easy grader. My semester consisted of reading a novel then writing a paper every 2 weeks. he expects you to read the novel in a week. he honestly cant hear anything you say and he embarrasses you in front of class. after each paper he puts some on the projector to criticize. AVOID!

Professor Buscemi is one of my favorite teacher at MCC. I recommend you take his English 121 and 122 courses. If you respect him, his class, and the English languageand a little sarcasm your experience with his will be worth while.

As a military veteran, he was very clear and concise on what he wanted done. Was a funny guy and as long as you read the book, and ENGAGED in the class you did fine. everyone whining here are like the lazy kids I had in my class. hes a nice guy, show effort and he will make sure you do good. very nice overall and funny.
Acts as though he is teaching high school students and doesn't like to be wrong. He limits your sources for essays to only the databases, so writing assignments had very limited topics.

After reading all the reviews, I was skeptical about this Prof. However he has actually turned out to be one of my favorite educators I've had throughout school. I've learned a lot in his class & he can be quite funny at times. He does not like when students are late & will give attitude when necessary. Also repetitive at times. Overall he's great!
He rarely ever accepts e-mails, unless its convenient for him. If you want feedback on your work you have to visit him in his office after class hours and bring a physical copy of your paper, as when I brought mine on my laptop to show him he refused to look at it. On top of this he only allowed us physical sources, or databases but not websites.
Highly recommend staying away from this prof. He is nothing but a sarcastic ignorant old man. Expects you to read a 200-page book in one week. If you don't to stress all semester stay away from this dude.

I just witnessed extremely inappropriate and disrespectful behavior from this man toward another faculty member. He was so condescending, it was obvious to us all that he was trying to intimidate our younger professor, and doing so in front of other students which I find demeaning and very unprofessional. Frankly, I was disgusted.
Honestly a terrible professor. The worst part about him is he thinks he is funny but he's really not at all. He is also disrespectful towards the students and does not answer emails, which is upsetting because they come from his own students. I liked Buscemi a lot. He expects a lot from his students but duh, it's COLLEGE. Of course you need to learn proper grammar and DO YOUR OWN CITATIONS. We aren't in middle school anymore. He teaches well and gives everything you need to pass with a high grade. If you do bad in his class, you obviously weren't trying very hard to pass!!

He is very rude, disrespectful and thinks that he is funny. He is very conservative, wants everyone to think like him and forget about their own point of view and thoughts.

I read a lot of bad reviews on this professor so I decide to challenge myself. He's no really that bad. Learning from him was really interested. He's really critique on your writing so if you want a good grade you got to push it. I really didn't mind him if you show up to class everyday he'll like you. Never miss a class from him.

One of smartest professors I have ever had. He loves to talk and his classes can get boring towards the end of the semester but his grading is the worst. He is unclear about what we need to include in our papers and takes off a lot of credit for wordiness and grammar. He is very helpful outside of class though and won't notice when you skip class.

I took him a few semesters ago, and all I can say is it was the worst semester of my life. Although I was taking hard classes, never did I think I'll struggle this much in Eng. If you're up for a challenge go ahead, but I had to drop his class or else my gpa would've tanked.
Santi Buscemi lost the Montgomery School Board of Education election because he wasn't a very nice guy in real life.
