6-7 Exams, 2 HTML assignments, and plenty of Discussion Board Assignments. All the test questions are directly from the study guides which are all online. 2 of the Exams were take home. She does have an accent but you should be able to clearly understand her lectures. There's no reason you shouldn't get an A in this class.
She helped me to learn network security. She will give you lot of Internship opportunities, though some are GPA depended, and was not helpful for me. Overall she is good
The course is huge, and boring. She tries to make interesting but until 6th 7th week it is substance less. She is super helpful with the HTML assignments. I managed to get a B .
Pretty relaxed professor; accent could be a problem for some. I think she's hot.
I'm sorry but I have no clue how she has received good reviews. She is quite possibly the worst professor out there. She has no clue what she is talking about, she even had a student teach us HTML because she didn't know anything about it (her words). I received a B in this course so no, this is not coming from a student who didn't try. DO NOT TAKE
I found her very kind and relaxed as well. She helped us to finish all the MS projects during our class time. I had to admit she is super helpful with the html too. I am not an IT person but I've submitted both the HTML projects at the end of the class. yeah... a little bit picky about attendance. Attend every class, leave with an A.
Professor Das is the best professor ever!!! I came here since it was a required class, and now i can talk info- sec. I am even planning to take Sec+ exam . Some hands-on we did in class, but more would have been better. She is very nice . Please follow the lectures and you you will learn a lot.
why are people giving her so much praise, Y'ALL SHOULD NOT TAKE HER IF YOU DON'T KNOW JACK!! i'm serious, i took her in my last semester because of the great reviews. ( thanks by the way) and i can honestly say, my GPA is suffering. the projects are easy, the discussion boards are easy, the FUDGING EXAM IS NOT. no seriously. its very detailed.
She is very easy to deal with. I appreciate her patience. The material is very dry, and she does not deliver amazing lecture but helped us to complete all the assignments in class. I took this class before and found that same exams are used in all sections. Here is the trick , do the study guides at least 45 times phew !! Easy A .
Professor Das was very difficult to understand at first, but after a while she became more clear. There are about 8 Exams on the computer, copy&paste quizlet and you'll get an A or B. Don't procrastinate on the SAM assignments. She responds to emails very quickly so don't hesitate to ask questions. Great class though.
No issues, will let you complete most work in class. super helpful with html and MO
It was very hard to understand her due to her thick accent. The course outline on the syllabus was not accurate which made it very difficult to know when assignments were due. If you had a question she would sometimes shush you. She is not clear on what is due. You must keep asking. Work is easy but hard to do when you don't know what's due.
Excellent lecture and labs. Plenty of hands-on activities. Great professor. we enjoyed thoroughly.
While you learn security you can get prepared for the real world with plenty of hands-on activities in her class . Attendance not mandatory but Don't miss class . barely follows the slides, you are going to miss the goodies.
Truly a helpful professor; if you're having trouble with your labs at home she's quick to reply to your emails. She brings up interesting facts about the real world and the job market; truly knowledgeable. A little bit of a Indian accent, but not hard to understand. Loved the class!
At first I was leery of taking her class but that was the only class time that worked. I wasn't doing so well in the beginning, but participation & doing the homework are a MUST. As soon as I gave a good effort to my homework my grade came way up. Her accent is thick but she explains everything out in a simple way because of it. I'd take her again.
Great Class . Great Instructor
Easy A , Just attend the class , do the labs from the book. Not a big deal. The best part is no final exam .
She is the best instructor, very helpful and friendly and approachable.
I have taken it last Spring. This was an really interesting class, we did lot of in class activities apart from the text book projects.
She is good
The Professor was very helpful. There were five -six labs , one final exam . She helped us with labs after class time . No issues .
Professor Das' class was pretty standard and easy. Attend the classes because she grades based on attendance and after the first 5 weeks class is pretty much easy step-by-step projects that you can easily get an A on. If you want an A on the test you have to take the study guide assignment at least 5 times.
I am not sure, but maybe because of culture differences, but she's rude to some of the student. She's insensitive, and often embarrassed her students. There were times where her lecture was all over the place , she can't focused on her topics. I would suggest to read the book, it will keep you on track, and you will learn more.
Pretty standard class Weekly quizzes, homework final exam and one course project. The best part is the project. Don't miss class, professor often gives tips about the project, though she helped me to pull it together in class. Homework are straight from textbook. She grades generously. No study guide given, use the weekly quizzes as study guide
Cool class. I think I learned the "hard"ware in easy way. The professor used a combination of lecture and in class exercise. We ended up building our own computer from spare parts. Sometimes went a little fast over the concepts but overall solid instructor very easy going and relaxed.
Supper cool. She pretends to be very strict in the beginning but poor lady one of the friendliest Instructors. I really enjoyed this class coz many tools she used which I never heard about in two years. Sadly, I have two more courses to go to graduate and she doesnt teach those two classes .
Good !
How this professor has a high rating is beyond me. She takes FOREVER to grade assignments. A mandatory discussion is to "reflect" on our project after we receive our grade. Its the last day and the project is still not graded. Her instructions on assignments are extremely unclear. She uses recycled lectures that dont add up with updated online labs
I'm Currently enrolled in one of her online classes, and curious to know if she is helpful enough? I don't care about timely grading and do not need an easy A, but I want to learn. Unfortunately online is my only option but most of my online classes have nothing but a few useless virtual labs.
Professor Das one of the best IT professor in NOVA. I like her style and her lecture. She is very knowledgeable in her field. I definitely take her classes again
it was a nice experience having this teacher.
I really liked her teaching style
Her online class is really organized and give clear instruction. Since my online class is short, every week thereyou should is always assignments and quiz for you to do. As long as you do all the assignments, quizzes, and final project, you can pass the class. She does give out study guides for mid-term and final, and extra credit.
The lectures are very thorough but the course is heavily weighted on labs. The professor provides lab helps and explains the labs in the following class, which is very helpful but if you miss a day it would be very hard to catch up with the labs later. Be prepared to work hard. By far the most valuable class in my transcript.
Terrible professor. No regard for others feelings. Lectures were long and was not friendly to help students to understand what was going on in class.
Lots of hands-on activities. Professor was very helpful. She even helped with the labs after the class. Do the weekly quiz you will do good in exam. Don't miss class it's very hard to catch up later.
There are homework and quizzes and easy/so so/not so easy exams and I was able to pull thorough somehow but I learned things in her class which I never learned before. I got my first offer last week as a SOC analyst. Thank you Prof. Das Thaaaaaaaaaaaaaanks NOVA
Pretty standard class, the professor is helpful . There is one final, straight from the textbook , Read the book for final. , 6 or 7 quizzes, a lots of labs. Professor helps with the labs after the class and in the lab hours.
Professor Das is really good professor. She is nice and really caring if you studdy the book you will pass.
I really dont recommend her. She has an attitude and whatever you do the work, she rejects it. You need to work like a dog to pass her class. JUST DO NOT TAKE HER. YOU WILL REGRET
JUST AVOID HER SO YOU WILL NOT CRY
Please do not take her class if you care about you're grades and how you learn in this class because she has a very negative attitude against her students, labs are very hard to do, no help provided by this professor, she never has time to answer questions during the lecture of after them. JUST AVOID TAKING THIS PROFESSOR!
I am currently in this class right now. She is very rude and won't answer your questions about homework. One of the most meanest professors I've ever taken in NOVA. All she does is lecture in class and if you have a question about homework, she says its a "personnel attention". I would not recommend taking her again.
It's an extremely simple class, however if you don't pay attention, you will fall behind. This class encourages you to try different methods to find multiple answers. The professor is patient, however she does get annoyed having to answer the same question again. Pay attention, do the homework and you'll receive an A.
This was my first virtual class after Spring. I enjoyed a lot. Two exams. Six or seven quizzes. Lab are straight from the book. If you participate in the class discussion you will learn a lot . The professor is very helpful.
Super excellent class. I learned something which I will not forget ever. Just one thing the professor did not tell that we didnt need to buy a textbook. Attendance was not mandatory, but if you miss the lectures you would miss the lab details.
I almost ended up not taking this class reading reviews here, and found one of the best classes I have ever taken at NOVA. Yes, you need to work !! If you are looking for free A then this is not the class, but really easy A if you seriously attend and participate. The labs are the best part of this class , don't miss a single line,
Shes an amazing professor, I would recommend either taking her in person or in a hybrid class but not STRICTLY online. Previous ratings ring true, getting help outside of class is extremely hard, but she will be there for you 100% until you get it, if you do have her attention. Put in good effort and youll be met with mutuality and understanding
She is truly an amazing teacher. I regret this was my last class. Now I can see why so many reviews. She is not your average NOVA teacher . So if you take this class come to learn. Grade will follow you.
Taking her online zoom class, her inability to speak fluent English is a hindrance to her students, which also affects her writing as the instructions are not very clear on assignments. She does allow redo's if the majority does badly on assignments.
You have to complete quizzes, labs, and 1 project. If you do your homework every week, you will be ready to pass with an easy A. Participation is key. One minor issue, she does not tell attendance mandatory but there are in-class assignments.
Though a little difficult to understand at times due to a somewhat thick accent, she is very knowledgeable and wants the best for her students. Very engaging. She also dislikes Lockdown Browser which is always a + for me
I was in waitlist for a week and finally joined with Deans permission because I took her class before. Later I noticed that a few students stopped coming. If you don't want to learn, then please leave her for us, who really wants to learn by doing. What I like most, she will let you do the labs in class, and explains the labs.
Professor Das is very smart, she lectures very well but the downside is her organization. She gave a lot of labs that were a little out dated and hard to get by, I would have to do my labs again for full credit. But, she does allow full points for you to do them again and accepts late work. I would take her again if she assigned less work.
Awesome class. Awesome professor. Participation does matter in her class. It is my last class at NOVA and ended up with an amazing experience.
I would not recommend Professor Das. At 8 AM she is very annoying and just yells random stuff. The labs she assigns are outdated by many years. She also likes to humiliate people in public so that's a big no. Avoid her.
This class I took in person with Professor Das. She was more bearable in person but still bad. Her lectures were very boring and the lab that she assigned sometimes didn't even work. She even humiliated me in class once in front of everyone just because I emailed her a simple question. Stay away from her.
Dont take this professor online. They do not help and are not understand when it comes to technical problems. Gets upset when you dont understand an assignment or need extra help. I heard they are good in person class but DO NOT TAKE AN ONLINE CLASS WITH THEM.
bad professor ever nova. do not take this professor, you will never pass the course. '
I was in the 8 AM class and never seen the professor humiliated anyone. Also there was a text book. As a matter of fact almost 70 percent of the final grade, two exams, quizzes, and most labs are straight from textbook. Honestly it is hard to fail in this class even if you dont do anything. She was good, and definitely knowledgeable
Very good class. The class is mostly lab based. Don't fail to do the labs timely. The book labs sucks and you pay a lot for those useless labs. But other labs are real good. The professor is helpful and really passionate with her subject.
You got to sit with your Linux machine to get most out of this class. I really enjoyed the class. No boring lectures and power points.
I have taken this class too with the same professor. This one has less hands-on work and lecture heavy. You read the book, do weekly homework, quizzes, you are good. The final project was very interesting
She is the worst nightmare for a student. She doesn't know how to teach. She can't explain her own assignment. She goes off topic every minute.
She is an easy grader and expects everyone to learn with hands-on-projects and real life examples. But she can be a little mean and embarrassing when you email her something and she talks about it in front of the whole class. Overall, she is a nice teacher.
This class is easy to pass as long as you somewhat pay attention and do the work. The professor is just straight up rude and is just unacceptable. overall this is an easy class to pass but very annoying to attend.
Professor Das is definitely an expert in the field of cyber security. She clearly loves to teach, and it shows in her enthusiastic lectures. I definitely recommend that you read the textbook starting on day one of the class. It enriches and clarifies the professor's lectures. Work hard, get an A, it is that simple.
Someone who you can tell knows what they're talking about. Had really fun VM labs, and is regarded highly for her connection potential for your IT career, although personally I didn't feel like her lectures did much and her questions to the class don't make sense sometimes. Still an amazing person and is someone to get if able :D
Not an easy class for me and I worked hard. Since the professor walks through the labs thoroughly, they might seem easy but if you miss the meticulous attention to detail in the labs, you will miss the essence of the class.. The book is expensive, I wish she could skip the overpriced book and include more labs. Overall very good class.
In short, the class isn't as pitiful as people were describing it. Yes, she discourages students from sending emails and offers disengaged responses. However, she is really experienced in the modern IT world and offers lectures with an eccentric twist. If you do the labs carefully and put in the work, getting through will be practical.
Her class wasn't complicated but all over the place. The the professor personality was terrible and her lectures were hard to follow.
Took her 7 weeks class, all I gotta say GET TO READ. We had to cover two ch every week. Her lectures cover the two ch with a bit more emphasis on what is gonna be the security + than the book.
One of the best classes in my major. Attendance is not mandatory but attending the class is awesome. The professor explains each line of the lab. The lecture is very much related to the real world.
It is an easy class if you follow the class lectures. There is in-class assignments . Professor is super helpful. Make sure you know how to use a VM
There is not much lecture involved, mostly hands-on. There is work involved but ITN262 is definitely not a difficult class. Attendance is not mandatory but she goes over the labs during class. Don't miss class.
she is great and professional in her field.
Professor Das is a real good Instructor. Focuses on Sec+ exam but you need to read the book also. There are undeclared extra credits, so do not forget to participate in class.
To me this class was rather hard to get a grip on since a lot of the time , and not to be mean or rude, i just couldn't understand a lot of what she was saying. A lot of the time she would also embarrass her students. She also didn't really go over the homework much nor did she explain it very well since it "would take up class time."
Worst professor ever RUN!
Awful professor
Please take her , she is very good professor. Just read your books, your slides and the Quiz's , mid- term and Final will be very easy. Also it is Open book, open note but lock down browser. you will be fine , just take her and you thank me.
Please take this professor and you will will fine. No camera, no lock down browser, the quiz, mid-term and final is very easy. No due date for assignment and if you have problem he can extend the due date for you. please take him.
I took this class online. The class has bunch of labs and a final project . If you pay attention to the labs and do them correctly the project would be piece of cake . The professor was nice and very helpful.
Pay attention to lectures!! Participation matters.
Prof. Das really know her stuff and explain it really well. I feel like I learned a lot in her class compare to other professor. One downside tho is that she isn't very fast with emails.
The class was mostly hands-on with some lectures. If you pay attention to the in-class activities, this is a fun class. There was a group project, which is the most interesting part of the class. The professor told us not to disclose the exact project, so I am not doing so. But trust me, this was one of the best class projects I have ever had.
Took both ITN261 and ITN262. Both are very intersting, less lectures and lots of hand-on activties . Read the text book. The exams are from the text book.
I wanted to thank Porfessor Das for the all the feedback I have received in ITN277. She never made me feel like this was an online class. I wish I could have her for other classes although I have never seen her name in my other Cybersecurity classes.
This was a very good class. The professor was excellent. I recommend attending regularly to get the most out of it.
Don't take her seriously, she's rude and will be condescending and dismissive with an attitude and can't teach a class to save her life. Doesn't help with work or feedback and can't even help with work, heavy accent just avoid her, there's plenty of other great professors out there
