She is such an excellent professor. She made the experience of pre-algebra very enjoyable. She is vey helpful and wants all her students to succeed.
Good teacher, the class is basic. some people said they had problems with her slight iranian accent, however i did not have any problems.
she is a horrible teacher. doesnt teach well and doesnt give notes for HW. doesnt care about her students and doesnt teach what on the HW. expects you to do all the work even though its not collected. DO NOT TAKE HER!!!!!!!she sucks as a teacher and is not helpful.
She is the worst teacher ever.. dont take her unless you have no other option.. when you ask for help she has a heartattack. When you have a problem with your homework she WILL NOT help yo at all.. bad teacher and needs to go somewhere..
She is the best teacher I have ever had. Very clear, very nice and very helpful. Take her you will not regret it.
This teacher is a very sweet lady. Although it is extremly hard to comprehend her because of her thick accent. It is not easy to take notes while breaking down everything she says, She uses the book and just writes it on the board not quite the best teaching method.
strongly recommend. Math is not scary anymore. It is finally understandable.
I passed with an overall 99 % (I made a 92 on final, made mostly A's on test, and mostly high Bs on group quizzes) She drops the lowest test grade and lowest quiz grade. Lots of hw, but they help with practice a lot, and she gives you lots of extra credit if you turn in all of the assignments. gives partial credit on wrong answers. very fair.
Highly recommend her. Very very fair with grading, lots of extra credit (especially if you turn in all hw), and is nice and funny. gives partial credit for wrong answers. However, you do need to put effort. drops lowest test and quiz. do all homework, and you will be fine.
good teacher. she ca have a slight accent but sit in the fron or close nd lll understand. just do al hw do good on tests and ull be fine fosure. teaches well too. one of the god teachers for math at smc.
She goes through everything really fast. She makes it seem like she doesn't like to answer your questions. I did not enjoy her class at all. You should do all of the homework, this will help you get a better grade.
Very well organized and methodical. One of the best teachers I have ever had.
TOTTAAAAALL ****!! DONT TAKE HER UNLESS SHE IS THE ONLY PROFESSOR LEFT!!!! SHE MAKES IT SEEM AS IF SHE HATES HER JOB.
worst teacher ever!1! DONT TAKE HER UNLESS YOU HAVE NO OTHER OPTION!! HAS A HEARTATTACK WHEN YOU HAVE A QUESTION.. DOESNT ANSWER QUESTIONS, SHE IS ONLY THERE TO REFRESH HER MEMORY.
Excellent teacher. One of the best professors I have ever had
After taking her class my excitement for learning math turned into fear. Scarred for life.
I took her class in Spring 08 and I absolutely hated it. She is very difficult to understand, boring, and hates when anyone asks a question about anything. I struggle with Math and She did not help me improve what's so ever, now I'm trying to find a professor for Spring 2009 to finally finish Math 84 ugh
hard to understand her. but her test are somewhat easy.. doesnt really help u.
She was really hard to understand, especially since math is not my best subject. and she went to fast..no help at all!
I love the way she presents the material. Very clear, fair and funny. You have to study and do your homework but you will get a lot out of her class.
Miss Boosheri is a great teacher. She has an accent which makes her lessons memorable. She is clear and explains well. I got an A. If u do ur work and study for tests... u will get an A too! take her !
Hard to understand and she does not help people most of the time
Makes time for every student in class if they are unclear on how to do something.
3 exams, 3 group quizzes, & 1 final. She's an OKAY math teacher, she expects you to know material from previous math courses. Kinda goes fast but sit in front and pay attention. Tests were not as difficult as I thought she would make them. They were fair and she tells you everything that will be on the test.
WOW KOOL TEACHER IN THE END
Boring class...the professor lectures, makes us do examples, goes over the examples, assigns homework, gives us a group quiz, and then a test. Overall, it's an average, not-too-easy, not-too-hard class (unless you suck at math!)
She is horrible at teaching! do not recommend! you don;t learn anything in her class and the class average is 66%
People really lie about this teacher. Not what i expected at all. She goes tooo fast. She expects you to solve problems within seconds not minutes seconds. test are extremely hard nothing like the examples she gives in lectures nor the ones from the chapter hw! she collects hw every time there is a test! DO NOT TAKE YOU WILL BE PISSED!
I would not recommend any one taking her class. I took Algebra2 in high school and was at or near 100% the whole year, but she is impossible. Very difficult to comprehend. And in general can not stay focused, on average the class will correct some odd mistake she's made 3 times a session.
The class is not particularly hard, but she makes it hard. Everything that you need to learn about is in the textbook, but somehow she makes it complicated. I hated how all the homework for the section is due right before the test. I recommend doing all of the homework because it's helpful in taking the tests.
PLEASE ~~ If you are thinking of taking this instructor ~ DON'T. This is it ~~ She gives group quizzes and picks the lowest grade and gives that grade for everybody. Typically the grage is below 50. She starts off the class by saying most people get C's and the rest fail. She's honest with that statement. Do I need to say anymore? Good luck!
She is a pretty teacher, who makes math class coming too. Her smile is sweet. Take the notes, do the review in the book, and you will be fine. Also, if your still having trouble, get some tutoring at the school. It is free.
Shes a very good teacher in terms of clarity and helpfulness. She really breask down the problems. Only downfall in the class is that she wont let you use a calculator.
I like the way she taught me and she is very kind, helpful, easy and caring teacher. The tests were easy you have to review her notes that's all and make sure check your solution when you finished and in addition the class was perfect for me i prefer you to take her class and focus on it besides texting..C:
I can't see why people rate Prof. Boosheri so low. Sure, her tests are hard, but she's a great person. She has a sense of humor college kids can relate to, and her lectures are crystal clear. The only downfall was that I took her for PreCal over the winter. I could certainly see myself performing much better if it were during a regular semester.
she has been changed. her tests are so easy now.
She's a really nice person, the exams are really easy she gives a lot of partial points. If you want an A that's not complicate with her as long as you do all the homework which should take you like between 30minutes and 1h30 a class depending on the chapter.
she is a very good teacher!
I would not recommend her to anyone. She claims not to trick her students but her tests are not related to the homework. Her notes are exactly the same as the book so there is nothing else to study. And she doesn't give partial credit so it drops everyone's test scores, which is the only thing that goes into your grade.
I took her class after not taking any math courses for 3 years. I attended the lectures, completed the hw assignments and recieved an A. If you pay attention to lectures and do hw, you will notice that the exams are not very hard. Begin the class with the understanding that u will need to engage in the material and spend time for this class.
To anyone who is not great in math, I do not recommend her. It can be hard to understand her and the examples she gives in class are all from the book. Also, her test questions can be different from the examples in the book. And her grading is extremely bad. She gives very minimal consideration.
She is a great teacher and very fair. Those who failed our class couldn't do simple math, and did not put in the work. Do the homework, and study the class notes (those are on the tests), and dont fall behind and you will pass. The final is easier than the tests and homework.
Not a good teacher. There is no credit for Hw and she always give us hard tests. She doesn't explain well and she is not clear.
I didn't like the class at all and she is hard grader but she is helpful teacher but you need to work Exteremly hard.
Very hard and unclear. Her examples are supposed to be answered in 20 seconds and she is unclear especially her print. Do not take this class unless you want to teach yourself how to do math. I do not recommend her as the class is very boring, repetitive, and hard. The homework takes forever as well. Skip this class if possible!
This professor is not good at all. I've always been good in math but her class was confusing overall. She doesnt explain well what will test be about. Quizes are okay but avoid this class. Just stressing and confusing overall.
DONT TAKE THIS CLASS with this teacher. She is awful. She's sarcastic and gives you like 10 seconds to solve an example. She give online HW which is a terrible idea, takes an hour to do a problem. Doesn't teach well and her accent is distracting. I had to drop.
Prof. Boosheri is an extremely kind hearted striving to help students. You have to study you're lecture notes very well and do your homework on time, even though she does not collect them. Attend class regularly, respond to her questions, and be alert to get an A. I got an A too:) Highly recommend her.
She is so mean and rude. will give you attitude when you ask a question. very sarcastic. i learned everything on my own. aviod her...
She knows her math but she's absolutely terrible at teaching it. Also she gives you an attitude if you ask a question on either a math problem or if just want to know the next test date.
She seems like a genuinely nice person, but she's a terrible teacher. She knows her math, but she doesn't know how to teach it. Also, she's a very hard grader and her tests do not reflect any of the hw that's given online.
I thought her class was so so. She teached very fast and sometimes didn't go over every single step in a problem. Her test were 10 problems very easy if you know your stuff. All quizzes were group quizzes so it helped alot. The homework was online which i prefer because i think it's easier. But overall she's good but could be better.
One of the hardest teachers here at SMC. I did not understand the lessons she taught. Overall a hard grader. You have to study or you will not pass. Really tough grader. Has only 1 question for every quiz so good luck. quizzes are every monday and she does not give extra credit. if you struggle with math, do not take take this class.
This is a pretty easy class. I didn't even study on first 2 tests and got Bs. IT IS ESSENTIAL TO DO YOUR HOMEWORK! DO all your homework and you'll be fine. (I always left it last minute and so I dropped the class). Her tests are way easier than the homework. She's very monotone and boring most of the time though. Just be on task and you'll be fine
Homework is online. Quizzes are in groups and not many questions on test. you really have to pay attention in class or you will be lost. she is helpfull.
This class was not easy! Professor Boosheri is an excellent instructor. She always makes sure her students understand the material before moving on. If you pay attention, attend class, do the homework and study your butt off, YOU will get an A in the class.
Tough subject, but nice teacher. I recommend not taking over a short semester, I had to withdraw because I just couldn't handle it. Having online homework was a nice tool though!
I loved my Math 2 class with prof. Boosheri! She is kind, very thorough and genuinely nice person. You are not afraid to approach her after class if you have some questions regarding the material. She explains precalculus material in simple conceptual ideas. Do your online homework, take good notes, know your basic algebra and you are set for an A!
She is a good teacher. Notes are clear and enough examples help me to understand the topics. She hardly ever use textbook,we do homework online. We got 5 exams and 1 final. Exams are easy if you study the notes and do homework daily. She helps me a lot
Very fast paced, you must study everyday or you will not pass. The teacher is kinda a ....
Not the best teacher out there. Don't get me wrong she's a great instructor however, gives a lot of homework and grades very strong. For example if your explanation of how the problem is solved is a little off but the answer is correct you will get no credit. try explaining to her your problem and she's stubborn on her intuition. not recommended.
Great professor just the tests are a little tough. Her lectures are great and if you ask to her to slow down and explain something she will. To get an A on her test just redo all the examples she did in class, do all the HW again, do the ch review, and understand it all. Each question is like 55 so she give partial credit for answer on the test.
Very condescending, unsupportive, lazy, and rude professor. Doesn't care about the success of her students and makes little to no attempt to assist with struggling students. Acts annoyed with questions and moves extremely quick. Her tests are straight forward, group quizzes, and online homework. She made this a very tough semester.
She's great at math, not the best at teaching it. Gets irritated when you ask questions. Homework is online. She gives group quizzes and individual tests. They are relatively easy and the tests are pretty much exactly like the quizzes so just study off of those. Not a difficult class but her attitude ruins it for me.
She's the worst!!!!!!! Her accent is not the problem, it's pretty clear but it's the way she is. She doesn't like when students ask questions, like what? is math! I regret taking her class and I'm hoping to pass with at least a C. By the way, many students end up dropping her class and just a few try to at least pass
really don't take her !! no one in out class passed when we took the tests she would make us leave even tho we still had 10 mins.. She said she had another class but we checked and she didn't..I mean if you need to leave don't lie about it! She becomes so sarcastic and rude if some one asked her a question during class. DONT TAKE HER!!
Lifeless. Hates her job. "Who got the problem right?", she asks. Almost no one raises their hand. Her remedy-- she just continues to a harder problem. We score badly on her tests because we doesn't understand her problems in class. More than half the class dropped.
Nice as the person, but as a teacher. Gives extra credit, her planning of the lectures are very bad and confusing. Wouldn't take again.
Shes not a bad professor and she helps you if you ask, but she fell behind so she tried teaching 2 sometimes 3 sections per day, she also got a bit frustrated when someone was confused and kept asking questions. I got an A because I already knew the material, if you have another option go with them but if you get this professor you'll be okay.
Took her on winter. Her test are based on her notes examples. The quizzes are group quizzes. Hw was online. Study and you'll get an easy A
She is a nice person, but she is definitely not a good teacher. She skips over steps in lessons and rushes through every problem. She can be unorganized as well. We had to skip an entire chapter because we were behind schedule. She's not very good at explaining, and she makes the tests harder than they need to be. I would recommend another teacher.
She will drop the lowest test grade. Her lectures dont reflect the HW thats online. will put questions on tests that we didnt learn in the lecture. Don't take her. by the cut off date there were only 18 left out of 45.
She goes to fast with the lessons and doesn't give time to learn the lessons more. She tends to rush through it and lecture really fast for the lessons. Also grades tests in a confused way. You have to come to class pay attention and take all her lecture notes because she doesn't teach from the book.
getting angry because a person come 5 or 10 minutes after the class stars *she is not tolerant Don't put the homework in ecampanion ( she doesn't like use the computer)
This lady wont help for anything she doesnt even use the textbook but makes you buy it. i went to pee and since you know ima guy i took 1 minute n she was still teaching the same thing when i came back. i ask her question n she said i missed the whole thing. she is a terrible grader i had to fight with her to give me points on my exams and test.
Took her in the spring & was a waste of time. Studied, did all the hw & still did not pass. the hw she gives isn't on tests & she falls behind schedule. Drops lowest test score but not much change in your grade. many people dropped by the drop date & those who were left barely passed. you have to learn material on your own in order to pass
good teacher but unless you know your math and or formulas then rinse repeat all your stuff given. cant get through algebra if you cant prove your theories front to back.
One of the worst professors I have ever taken. I looked at this site, i ended up giving her a chance. WORST mistake. She grades everyone's test unfairly, Doesn't put the same types of questions on the test that she talks about in lecture. Gets offended if you point out her mistakes that she makes on the board and when asked questions. She is rude.
Just finished this class with an A! she does move pretty fast but it isnt too complicated. we didn't use the textbook but we used the workbook everyday. quizes are in groups (which is amazing!) btw the person bellow me was 20 minutes late to an hour class we had and still decided to leave to the restroom. Id definitely take Prof Boosheri again
I have had the privilege of taking Prof. Boosheri for three separate classes; Math 20, Math 2, and Math 7. I think highly of her as a professor and person. She is incredibly fair and more than willing to help you succeed as long as you want to succeed for yourself. Under her tutelage I have grown to love math and am now considering a math major.
This was one of the hardest classes I have had to take. SO many students dropped the class because they weren't passing her really hard tests and keeping up with ALL the online homework. She is super lazy & really doesn't care about her students. Trust me, DO NOT take her unless you're like me and prepared to work your butt off in the tutoring lab.
Beware of questions on test, that we're not discussed in class. Homework is required to complete online. Pop quiz every week. Don't study won't pass.
Once you get used to her teaching style it all makes sense. She goes into good detail about things and will always make sure you understand it. Get ready for a lot of homework.
Professor Boosheri Is the worst professor I've ever taken. I took her for Math 20 in the fall. She gets mad when ever you ask questions in class, especially when you correct her numerous mistakes in her examples. Tests have questions that arent even in her lectures, basically problems you've never learned or seen before. didnt even touch the book
Good teaches by examples.
Her class was very hard to pass. H.W is online and you must get EVERY question right in order to get credit for the H.W. She fell behind the schedule on the syllabus and started teaching really fast and wouldn't take any questions about the lectures. She does drop the lowest test score but the test questions are way harder than the H.W questions
Professor Boosheri is decent. Her lectures are not bad and she gives examples of everything you will be tested on. Her tests can be pretty tricky and she can be a tough grader at times. I was leaning towards a 3 but I gave a 4 because she is very sweet and accessible outside of class. And homework is worth 20% of your grade.
Has a good teaching style with lots of examples. Tough grader, you have to put in the work to pull off a good grade.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. Rude, unprofessional, and if you're in a lower level Math, she makes condescending comments about it. Clearly biased grading, rushes through material and then is visibly frustrated when anyone asks a question. Tests are BS, & have material that she didn't teach; doesn't use or reference the text at all. don't take her.
Do Not Take This Teacher!!!!!!! Ive never experienced a more biased grader in my life. The term partial credit does not exist in her vocabulary. If you have a question good luck getting a straight answer back. Exams problems are exponentially harder than anything covered in the class or in the text book
Fair, clear explanation and respectful. Attend classes, pay attention and do the HW and you will end up with an A or B.
Good lectures with sample problems that she worked through on the board. She also gave time for you to work through them on your own, and she would go around and answer questions. Fair, clear expectations. She announces tests in class, so attendance is very important.
I was regularly challenged in her class, and because of that, I think I'm prepared for Math 8. Her tests were difficult, but she posted solutions on Canvas afterward so we could self-correct. She was very generous with extra credit, although I'm not sure whether that's her usual policy.
This class was hard. Like crazy hard. But I think she did a really good job deconstructing Calculus, which is notoriously difficult regardless of the teacher. I think she personally did a good job explaining and gave tons of examples.
She is willing to put in as much work as you are, but only that much. Doesn't have time or energy for people who don't care, but will go out of her way to help you if you put in the work. Her test subject matter is easy, but she takes off a lot of points for little mistakes. She's absolutely hilarious, and her class is super fun.
use mathway for hw answers and make sure you understand problems done in class bc its almost exactly like the test
I really liked her in Math 7. She gave tons of examples and didnt skip steps on the board. The only downside there is that most of her examples were from the book. But then again, most of her problems on quizzes and tests were also from the book.
Ive been at SMC for two years with As across the board. This is the only class that Ive gotten a C in. Do not take this class! She rushes through each lecture and doesnt care to know whether the students in her class understand what shes teaching or not. She offers zero extra credit, and doesnt give clear direction for due dates.
She made me care about math and encouraged me to take more classes. Im now in Math 13 and looking to transfer as a math major, and I credit her for setting me on this path.
she grades way too harshly. im a very good math student but she will take 3+ points off of an assignment with 20 questions if you forget a negative in one problem. shes completely unreasonable. she makes me feel like i cant ask her questions to better understand the material, as if i should already know it.
Lectures slow, takes longer for easy topics. When it comes to one week before the test she teaches 8 topics in one day then you get the review sheet. Review day next class(your chance to ask questions from the review sheet b4 test)and then boom test next class after that. Test is impossibly hard and only on the topics she literally taught 2 days ago
I've always been pretty good with math but this class was just insane. She struggled to explain topics well and was a very very harsh grader! The course started with about 35-40 kids and ended with 13...
She has a kind heart . She cares about her students and takes time to listen to their needs. I love Ms. Boosheri. She is great math teacher .
She specifically reoriented grade weights to make it a much harder class. In precalc I was able to pass with a 65% test average because our homework actually counted for something and I diligently did it (99% avg). Now all that matters is quizzes and tests. Which takes away any incentive to do HW. Not an easy Prof for math. No EC, no help, nothing.
Hard to understand course, even though she is very knowledge in course, she does not explain concepts correctly. Rushes through several topics.
Her lectures were boring and long. Towards the last 3 weeks she taught 10 lessons in 2 days, expected us to do the exam review the next day, and the final was the following class. Shes a tough grader when it comes to exams. Some questions are worth 6 points so if you get 3 questions wrong thats a B.
She's a good instructor, attend the class and really participate in how she teaches the lessons and DO THE HOMEWORK ASAP. No extra credits and the homework can help you if you don't really understand the lesson. It would be your last resort to boost your grade. Beware that exam questions are 3-7 pts each but you can ask for a recheck for more pts.
Havent Been at SMC in 3 years, Finishing up my masters In Industrial Engineering at Hofstra. THIS IS STILL THE WORST TEACHER IVE EVER HAD! DO NOT TAKE AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE
One of the worst teachers I've ever had in my entire academic experience! She shows no care for the students and belittles students who don't understand. She gets frustrated easily and constantly compares our class to her other Math 2 class, implying they're better. Busy work every week for "homework". She can barely explain the material!
Professor Boosheri is a very sweet lady. But she is not the best at teaching. She teaches fast and often times would get confused herself. There is a lot of homework, it was worth 20% of our grade. We had our last exam and our final a couple of days apart. On the last day before finals, she taught us five different topics. I would not recommend.
Math 2 with Professor Boosheri was incredibly challenging. There was a lot of homework and a ton of new information you have to learn. However, Professor Boosheri was incredibly understanding and kind all semester. Anytime I had a question she was available and happy to help. This class requires a lot of work but she's there to help you through it.
One of the worst professors I have ever had the displeasure of meeting. She is super rude to anyone that asks questions, is snippy and impatient waiting for you to do practice problems and she moves tests around by a week at a time making it hard to plan and prepare. I don't know how she still has a job seeing as she just lectures and gets mad. RUN
She was literally horrible she can't teach at all. She goes so mf fast and can't explain properly I don't recommend her plus calculators are not allowed in her class. In addition to all that her classes can be up to to three hours long.
HW is my math lab. meeting on campus for tests. not a great teacher. lectures over zoom are really bad quality-- you can hardly read her writing. heavy accent. khan academy got me through the semester.
I wouldn't say I liked taking Math 2 with this professor. Her attitude was terrible, and her lectures were not straightforward, as I had so much trouble understanding her method. I would not recommend taking this professor for Math 2.
In his calss it some time have a lot of homework, but some time have less home work it make me hard to organize my time and some types of questions that appeared in her exams will not be mentioned in the homework or in the class, and the progress of the lectures is very fast.
She seems pretty smart however the accent did make topics hard to follow. She gets frustrated when we talk or don't understand right off the bat. Quiet class. Tests were similar to textbook problems. She dropped one of my lower tests and gave me a chance to make up more pts on one other. Advice: watch myMathLab Author in Action videos. So good.
Exams were worth 55% of the grade. Hw worth 10%. Attendance was for a grade but she would often forget so its not accurate. She taught 10 chpters (5.1 - 11.2) in the last two weeks. Chapter 5 exam on Friday and cumulative Final the tuesday after even though we just went over 5 chapters in the last week. I urge you not to take this professor.
Professor Boosheri means well; that being said, stay away at all costs. 81 LONG homework assignments over a 16-week long semester. 6 hours of lectures a week. Her lectures are strenuous to follow and there is truly no opportunity for student interaction. Exam questions are strenious and typically not covered in her lectures.
I would not recommend this professor unless you are prepared to be stressed out.
Many other people in my class are going to withdraw. She is so impatient and will make you scared to ask for help. Esp if you're new to calc, do not take her. Doesn't make the exam until the night before that every single time we ask what material is going to be on the exam or even how many questions, she can't give you an answer. Save your time.
I felt so bad about myself taking her class because I couldn't understand anything. She had an attitude, each time someone asked questions.
She goes too fast. Wouldn't recommend.
The professor is terrible
The class's syllabus is WAAYYY too strict for no reason at all. She also grades harshly with no curve at all! The first exam had a high of 70 and a median of 50 and she did not curve it! She also assigns so much homework through Pearson which is inaccurate with grading and a general lazy way of giving out homework. Her grade distribution is bad.
Professor Boosheri isn't the strongest teacher. She assigns a lot of homework and often covers multiple sections of a chapter in a single week. Most of your grade comes from three exams, so even if you work hard on other assignments, it won't matter much if you don't do well on the tests. I wouldn't recommend her class if you struggle with numbers.
