Great teacher. Good lectures, but be ready to take notes quickly. Tests are somewhat hard. She makes history interesting - tells about things that happened behind the scenes.
She is an awesome teacher. I had her for both History I and II. Take her she makes it fun and thats the only way to pass a History class!!!
Great professor! I love her teaching style. Her lectures are so interesting. If you're gonna take this class...WRITE QUICKLY! Her tests are a little hard, but there is always lots of extra credit opportunities! Study your maps and turn cell phones off during tests!
She is an easy teacher. He tests were kinda hard 'cause I rarely studied, but she gives alot of extra credit for charity work, since I walk alot, and my grandpa does too, I got tons of 5+ bonus points. I made like c's on the tests, but the extra credit got me an A, no joke, she is the easiest one
The only way I could get through her lectures is with a dictation recorder because she talks so fast. She also includes things on her tests that can be easily missed in lectures. She's funny and swears a lot during lectures.

She's a great professor and bit hard and notes tend to be gone through fast but if you come to class everyday and do the extra credit work then there should be no reason not to do great in her class
She talks too fast, she's rude and the study guides don't help much. I got a B and C on the first 2 tests. Then I skipped class and read a history book at home and made a high A on the next test. Being in class just frustrated me.
She was an interesting prof. I rarely skipped her class bc she always had funny stories to tell. Her tests are pretty hard and you have to really study all notes. Also, you need to read between the lines when she's talking to help you later on. I signed up for her again this semester bc she is so awesome!
easy. interesting professor. unlike anyone i've seen. keeps you awake
Wow what a bad teacher. Tests are impossible. I studied and tried my ass off in her class and she failed me with a 67. Final exam was a pain in the ass! Her notes are impossible to understand when reviewing for a test.
This professor is one of the most fun I've ever had. I didn't even buy a book and i got a 97% without using any of the easy and abundant extra credit she offers. She supplies lecture notes online. Spend an hour to an hour and a half studying for her test and the are really easy. Attendance isn't mandatory but attending the class is enjoyable.
Good teacher. All the notes are online. She gives study guides before every test and the final! Try to make history exciting!
I had her for Hist 1301 and took her for 1302 because she was so awesome. She makes class interesting and is really funny! Her tests are a little hard but she is available for help if you need it and she gives lots of opportunities for extra credit. Great teacher, really understanding. Definitely take her!!!
She is very entertaining, cusses alot and is loud so you stay awake. Lots of extra credit. Test are kinda hard, gotta study. Over all i enjoyed this class and would definatly choose her again. ...BUT dont take this class if you are easily offended she likes to pick on people, i think its funny.
Loved this teacher! If you enjoy history, read your book and attend class, you will do fine. Her tests are a little hard...so study. This will be one of the most entertaining classes you will ever take.
Great teacher!! The most interesting history class I have ever had. You learn a lot. She is funny and very entertaining. She loves America and is a Daughter of the Revolution, she's very proud of her country! The test are a little difficult, but just pay attention and you will do great!
she was great. tests are hard but if you go to class and do the review you will be fine. she is a very fun teacher, lots of extra credit and will help you. take her!
Okay to sum up professor bostelmann ... She curses like a sailor, is highly sarcastic and funny, the best teacher you will ever have. She is so much fun and her lectures are so easy to pay attention to. Attendance isn't mandatory but you'll want to go. You have to do these history cards but they're easy to get 100's on if you attempt. Great Prof.
Well...she is very abnormal, but her test is very straight forward. And the map tests are the simplest things in the world. Her view on things are just halarious, very fun class to go to. If you need a History class she is the one to go to on the spring creek campus. No complaints, unless you cant handle the random factor of her.
Pretty funny teacher just because of her random cursing and sarcasm. Class is really boring, but honestly you don't need to go. All I would do is get the powerpoints and reviews off her website, do them right before the test, and then I would go in there and make about an 85. The notecards at the beginning take a while, but do them and get 100.
great teacher!!
This is one professor that keeps your attention for the full hour. She makes colonial America hilarious. Highly reccomended.
She's a really funny and interesting teacher, but her tests are very hard and the reviews for them are very long.
VERY FUNNY TEACHER!!!! the test were hard but if you did the review it helped, no doubt. SHE'S GREAT AND IF YOU'RE ABLE TO STUDY FOR AN HOUR OR SO ON TESTS THEN TAKE HER!!
Yes she is funny but her jokes are as useless in teaching u as she is. she doesnt help u, she assumes u know everything, she skips over material. her test are super hard and her review doesnt follow the test at all. book is useless. no matter what u do u just cant make a good grade unless u already know everything about history. DONT TAKE HER!
Prof Bostelmann is great! She loves history! She's a great storyteller and really helps you understand what happened and why. She's also very funny; you won't be bored in her class. In spite of her gruff manner, she is quite helpful if you have a question. The tests are difficult, but she gives extra credit. It was a pleasure to take her class!
Best teacher ever.I took hist 1301 and 1302 just because of her.She is a great story teller and makes you scream for more.I got an A on both her classes. Her jokes are hilarious
She is tons of fun, really interactive with the students, and explains everything clearly
WOW! Professor Bostelmann is wild, aside from her crazy style of teaching she really does cover a lot of material. She is very fun but her test you HAVE TO STUDY!!! if you study for test and do notecard you should pull a B at the least.
She is a great professor! She is very funny, outgoing, and easy to talk to. Like everyone else said before me, her tests are difficult, but as long as you review yourself enough you will do well. She has map tests too which are super easy as long as you study for them. The final one is just knowing all 50 states- how easy is that?!
Professor Bostelmann is fantastic. I wasn't interested in History but she is completely entertaining and makes class fun. Provides ample extra credit opp. 4 Tests, final not comprehensive, & map tests make up your grade. Like any class you need to work to get a good grade however you are a moron if you don't get at least a C in her class.
amazing prof. fun, pull-no-punches personality made history fun! SO wish i had taken her in 1301. plenty of opportunities for extra credit.
This Professor was amazing. She was funny and outgoing. I took her in maymester, and her lectures were like watching a movie for four hours. I wish I would have gotten the chance to take her in 1302. She claims her tests were hard, and a lot of people failed them, but I got A's on all of them. All I did was look at the review and go throug my notes
I just love her. She is so funny and laid back but REALLY knows her stuff. I have absolutely no interest in history but she makes it as interesting as it can get. Tests are hard, but you really learn a lot. She may come across harsh sometimes but it's just her humor. Very fun class.
An alright professor, humor is questionable.Take notes, test questions come from notes and textbook. There are better HIST1301 professors at collin.
She is the best teacher I have had at Collin College. She makes the class fun, and she knows what she is talking about. The tests are easy if you study, and the map tests are easy also. I RECOMMEND EVERYONE TO TAKE MRS. BOSTELMANN! :)
easy class and fun
She is a great professor! The class was great and I got an A in her 1301 and 1302. Do the note cards and take notes and you will do Well!
If you attend Professor Bostelmann's lectures, take decent notes, and complete the extra reading (less than 30 minutes per test), you'll get an A or a B. Extra credit assignments are available also. The best part is this is one class you'll WANT to attend. Don't be late...she starts ON TIME.
Always kept class intersting and was a huge part to doing weel in the class
4Exams.5notecard Essays.3ExCr quizes.Exams are 60scantron&25 Map matching. Her exams are very hard, because the test questions are not relevant to the lecture, book or her confusing ppt.I took this class during the summer. Avoid this class, there are better profs for History.
Just took this prof. Don't know what that other guy is talking about. If you study, and you have to study, you will do fine. Very clear power points given online. Good choice.
Professor was way too much for the morning. Take her in the afternoon IF you do plan to take her. Powerpoints were somewhat helpful but her exams are hands down hard. and not to add her lectures are completely random and not mandatory to be present... take her in the afternoon, dont show up for class and study the powerpoints on your own!
I agree with the prior post she is way too much. TEST are brutal.Memorization will not help, must go to class and if you are lucky, maybe you can get guess right on the test. I was confused and dissapointed. Would never take history with her again.
Mrs. Bostelmann is an excellent professor. Her lectures go according to the power points. And let's face it, 25 points of EVERY test is a map test. You really have to try hard to fail with that. Lots of extra credit. Good prof.
SUPER FUNNY & NICE! Tons of chances for extra credit. DO THE REVIEW & extra credit readings. They're pretty much always on the test. You can just look up most of the readings online. I took Hist1301&1302 with her. Didnt even buy a book for 1302 & but still got an A! Just listen/pay attention to her & you'll be fine.
She was a great/funny teacher! I was always awake in that class. It was never boring. She gives you the powerpoint handouts online. SO when you're in class you just have to add in extra notes. Be sure to read the pages she gives you. Will help if you need it, very relax and chill. TAKE HER!
Not a terrible professor. Her lack of organization skills bothered me quite a bit, but got used to it. Powerpoint notes are available online, but they're such a waste of paper. Attendance isn't mandatory, but you should go, or else nothing will make sense. Starts class right on time, every time.
She takes some getting used to, but she is an entertaining professor. You will HAVE to attend class and add your notes to her handouts. She does not ask dates but does ask names that are given in class only. Map tests are part of each exam. We did get the opportunity for a make-up exam and there are extra credit assignment. Take her!
Hilarious and awesome, but difficult. Her tests are brutal, but she provides every bit of info. you need to pass. You just have to really study. She's so enthusiastic about history, which is helpful. Definitely recommend, but be prepared.
I love Professor Bostelmann! She has a great deal of passion for history and it shows. She has a wonderful sense of humor and keeps her class interested. Test are a bit of a challenge but if you study, strongly suggest, you will be fine. This includes her map test. She gives mulitpile opportunities for extra credit. TAKE HER!
OMG where do I start? Shes interesting to say the least as well as nicely. She will definitely keep you awake in class by drilling her own spin on hist. BOOMBOOMCRUNCHCRUNCH! Not very clear, notes are incomplete, but she does keep history interesting! MUST HAVE SENSE OF HUMOR! If you try you will pass, alot of effort and patience is required.
Great professor. Look at the power points , the study guide and you have at least a B. Lots of extra credit.. Don't let that guy fool you. She is a great teacher.
Anyone saying they don't like her, obviously wasn't paying attention AT ALL in her class. She gives an outline of her notes rather than full powerpoints. This is so you can fill in the things that will be on the exam. If you don't want to listen to her talk, don't take her. She is a wonderful professor. She tells it like a long story! TAKE HER!!!!!
i loved having mrs. bostelmann as a teacher. she goes through all the material on the test at a good pace and answers your questions clearly if you ever have any. she always speaks her mind and is very honest, which was one thing i liked about her. show up late regularly, it will make her mad. nuff said.
She was an amazing teacher! Keeps the class interesting, if you do your work you will get an A, SUPERB teaching style. I would definately take her again
One of my favorite professors! Made class interesting, and the workload was doable. Offers alot of extra credit. Do your work and you get an A, simple as that. I would definately take her again.
Ms.Bostelman is a great teacher.Every test is outlined and on the blackboard. The map tests are not torture. They're 25% of your test grade and they go over the same countries over and over again. She's a lot of fun. Take her.
LOVE this woman! She's super funny & makes the class bearable. You don't really need the book so don't waste your money! She has a bunch of extra credit opportunities for the tests, 25 points of the test come from simple maps. I 100% recommend her.
Mrs. Bostelmann is easily the best professor I've ever had. If you pay attention in class and do extra credit you will get at a least a B in her class. One of the funniest teachers ever. Took her for history 1 and now history 2
I suggest you dont put yourself in this position. I took her class for HIST 1302 and it left me in distress, helplessness and confusion. She COMBINES Geography and U.S. History. She tests over difficult and detailed maps of the WORLD. The tests are 50 questions and the study guide does not help one bit. The plus of this class are the E.C norecards.
This class combines both Geography and History which makes it 10 times harder. There are better options for professors rather than Professor Bostelman. She gives out long study guides that have nothing to do with exams. The maps are maps of the world (before and after wars) which make it even more difficult to memorize.
I though Mrs. Bostelmann was an excellent teacher. She gives LOTS of extra credit, especially in History 1302. I was able to get 30 points of extra credit and you can add it to any test you want. She makes the class very interesting. Take her class!
She is a little unorganized. None of the material on the tests were from the study guides. She doesnt emphasis it but you must read the book! The tests are super hard. And there are map tests Study for those its a free 100.
She gives all of the homework at the beginning of the course and offers a lot of extra credit. She makes lectures interesting and is funny.
I'm currently taking her class, but her test are hard! You need to know geography too she will test you on it. Her study guides are not that helpful, is nothing like the test. She is very funny.
Tests ARE NOTHING LIKE THE STUDY GUIDE! HORRIBLE!
The best professor I've ever had. She's so funny & off topic half of the time, but really knows her stuff. There's 4 map tests & 4 written tests, roughly 60 questions multiple choice w some matching & she combines the two. The final is just like a regular test, over test 4 material. All of her study guides and powerpoints on blackboard. TAKE HER!
This woman is hysterical. She loves history and makes you love it too. Her tests are tough, but you had a lot of extra credit. Love her!
She was awesome! Her class was fun to take, and awesome to be a part of. She puts people on the spot sometimes, but it's her way of making the class fun. If you show up late, she will keep an eye out for you. She works on a group practice test before tests to help people study for tests. Would totally recommend her!
I literally have no clue why this professor has fairly high ratings. She combines GEOGRAPHY with U.S. History (II) It is unheard of and difficult. She gives study guides but they don't correlate with the tests whatsoever. You have to memorize continents and the tests are extremely difficult. I would not recommend. There are better professors!
There are plenty of better History professors available. You will actually learn something from them. She is extremely biased and tries to pile her agenda on your shoulders. She makes the course beyond hard. This course was beyond easier when I took it with a different professor. I left her class kicking and screaming for knowledge and better grade
Lots of extra credit. Really great teacher, but tough. Knows her stuff and makes it interesting. Will take for HIST 1301. Take her. Definitely worth it.
Mrs. Bostelman was a great teacher. She give lots of extra credit, has review sessions , really funny. Will take her for 1302.
she knows her material and it's sooo easy for the class to understand
BEWARE of this professor. Sure, she has charm and jokes but your grade will suffer tremendously as her tests are extremely difficult and requires tons of reading to prepare for them. If you fail a test you will not pass the class.
I took Professor Bostelmann my very first semester at Collin and she was by far my favorite teacher! She's hilarious and makes memorizing historical events easy. Test questions come directly form the reviews, so pay attention. Also be ready to take some map tests (which were super easier and account for some of your test grade.)
She is absolutely hilarious, fun, very organized, and willing to help anybody that asks! She is sarcastic, but if you know how to handle it well and not whine about it, then you'll be fine. Said that we needed the book, but collin ended up giving me the WRONG textbook, so I never used the textbook and still passed with a B.
I really enjoyed this class. I would take from her again.
Don't do it! This is a very difficult class! Her tests are the hardiest tests I've had in my life and I am a straight A student!
Sara Bostelmann would not help when I asked questions and made me feel like I was stupid. Nothing on the review or notes is on the tests. This class was a Nightmare!!
Great teacher! made an A without trying. Lots of extra credit opportunities on each test. Lots of help too. I will take her for History 1302!
Loved this class. Already signed up for History 1302 in the fall. Really funny. Lots of extra credit.
Bad Class
Ms. Bostlemann is a great teacher . She gives lots of extra credit and is really funny. Will take her for History 1302.
She is absolutely incredible. You can tell she is really passionate about what she is teaching and she makes it so interesting, even if youre like me and history isnt your thing. She has a great sense of humor and we all had lots of laughs. I took the class at 8 am and even though im not a morning person, I had no issue getting up for her class.
I took History 1301 over the summer. She has a loud and funny personality. She made learning the information fun. Only grades were 4 tests (the final was not cumulative) & 5 easy notecards. She provides scantrons and notecards for $0.35 a piece. She tells info in class not provided on online powerpoints that are on tests.
She is hilarious, teaches you to have tougher skin, makes history really easy to learn/even enjoyable. BUT if you do not test well, do not take this class. Her tests are very hard to prepare for. She does offer to meet outside of class if you need it! Overall she is a great professor! DO ALL OF THE EXTRA CREDIT!!!!
She has a crude humor and will pick on anyone in class so don't think you are on her good side. The class itself was easy, she goes over power points and teaches with passion. The tests are pretty hard if you do not study. I found myself stressed out studying for the tests.
She is an amazing teacher. Gives lots of extra credit and her test are easy. Will take her for HIST 1302.
This was my first time taking Bostelmann and it was the worst choice ever. I should have just stuck with my 1301 professor. Instead I chose to take her because of her bias reviews from the small percentage of students that actually liked her and bc of schedule conflicts. Do yourself a favor, don't take her. So unorganized and hard to make an A.
Had a great experience with Mrs. Bostelmann. Her stuff is online, gives loads of extra credit. Her tests are not easy, but you are taking a college class. I am taking her for HIST 1301.
What a great prof! Loved listening to her talk about history. Really knows her stuff. Great sense of humor!
Alright, professor Bostelmanns class feels just like High School again. The only hw you will get are five note cards which are due every week. If you take good notes from the power points, you will be ready for the exams because the information is all there. Does not need a book to pass the class. The professor is hilarious and ready likes history
Loved taking Ms. Bostelman! Took her for both HIST 1301 and 1302. Makes historyfun. Take her!
Professor Bostelmann offers a lot of extra credit, which helps you if you don't study for your tests. Attendance is not mandatory, but you wouldn't want to miss her class because she motivates you to learn. She offers 4 tests, 5 notecards, and the extra credit she offers. If you miss one of her tests, she lets you make it up.
This is a teacher that will keep you awake. Not only does she keep her lectures lively, she puts her own insight on history so you can understand it better. During the summer session she gives plenty of extra credit. Tests are easy if you study. And this is all coming from a guy who sucked at history in high school.
Great history professor! She makes learning history fun and entertaining. Great story teller and makes you remember key events. The tests aren't an easy A but if you pay attention in class and study before tests you'll earn an A.
She was amazing, hilarious, and was so much fun to listen during lectures. Provides many chances for extra credit. Splits tests into two parts to get better grades. If you do the notecards, it's an easy A.
Mrs. Bostelmann is great. A bit rough around the edges for some but overall great. Makes lectures interesting and shows how passionate she about history. Its not a hard class to pass. Make sure you read what she says because they will be used in test. Gives many chances to receive extra credit. I am taking again. You should too.
Love Professor Bostelmann! she's so funny and really engages he students in her teaching! She gives students many opportunities to raise their grades with extra credit and two part tests! She also is very active on canvas which helps tremendously! Highly recommend taking her!
Professor Bostelmann has my utmost respect. She is such a phenomenal professor with the initiative and passion to help others learn and navigate history in an interesting way with a critical lens. She is extremely detailed in her lectures and helps the student understand the material that will be covered on the test. Just ask about her chickens!
She goes fast through LOTS of information, with little depth, Powerpoints all class, occasionally a short video. The tests are somehow hard to make an A and yet hard to fail. She is also very strict about phone use. There is lots of extra credit opportunity. She's funny - but I don't think I learned much about history
She make's history seem absurd - as if things just happen for no good reason. As a student I've always felt compelled to ask WHY things happen. History through her lens is funny but makes no sense
Mrs. Bostleman is a great teacher, full of anecdotes and information. Gives lots of extra credit. Will take her for 1302.
After a 6 year break from school I took this 7AM class hoping for a passing grade! This professor worked with my schedule to accommodate a sunburn that put me out of class for a week. Her lectures are amazing and she gives MAP Tests worth 25% of each test and Study Guides that will align directly to the test. Incredibly supportive! 10 out of 10!
i mean where do i start?? what a refreshing class to have at 8 o clock in the morning!!! I always look forward to this class.. shes funny, explains everything well, you need to be present in the class for 2 reasons 1. to keep her happy 2. to pass the tests, the tests are not hard if you study for them.
I took her for History 1302, hands down the best History Professor I had. Easy A. Im so glad I took her class.
Professor Bostelmann was a nice lady, but her class organization, hard to call it that, had my head spinning. You have no idea what assignments are actual assignment vs. extra credit. Fairly certain even the supposed "extra credit" is counted as part of your grade at the very end. Her power points are jumpy and confusing. All around not a good time
One of the best classes I have taken so far. The lectures are interesting and informative. You will have to read outside of class but it's not difficult. There is lots of extra credit that will help with your grade. The final was not cumulative, Great teacher and great class overall.
All in all, a great prof. This was a crazy semester, but she made it easy. Take her.
She is very reasonable and offers lots of extra credit to bump your grade up. Text book may need for the assignments. Take her when you have chance!!!
