Outstanding professor! She has that just graduated energy of a new professor, which is great. She brings a fierce amount of knowledge in her teaching and makes everyone in the class feel engaged. I guarantee that you will not feel tired in her classes.
i love this woman

Great teacher. She is willing to explain anything.
Awsome teacher! her class is what all classes should be like. its fun and challenging at the same time.
Contemporary Social Problems with Crawley was amazing. She kept the attention of the class and really knew what she was talking about.
Sara is awesome. She's super nice, and great at getting the class interested in a discussion. The way she evaluates your performance in the class is fair (essays and journals). You earn what you put into it. Take a class with her, you won't regret it!
This is the best professor I've had in my collegiate career. Her enthusiasm, wit, humor, and overall presentation of materials is unparalleled. I love her so much, I'm taking every class she teaches at some point in my career at USF. WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GREAT teacher! Funny, open attitude about the subject matter that makes you really feel comfortable and interested in what shes talking about. Never a boring moment in class with her.

This is a fascinating professor. She keeps you laughing and truly interested in the lecture material. She is deeply committed to her field of study and to teaching. She is a real asset to USF and I hope they keep her!!
Sara is an amazing professor! I would recommend her to anyone looking for a fun and very interesting course! Very clear, very helpful, very fun! Easy A!
She is an amazing professor. She makes her classes a dynamic learning environment, and creates the drive in you to learn. FUN!!! The best ever.
Sara is a spectacular prof. She will challenge you and your way of thinking about everything around you. She is a dynamic and energetic lecturer. Her class is not easy, but not hard either. You will not regret taking a class with Dr. Sara Crawley!
Wonderful teacher.... take her classs.. if you don't you are missing out on fun times. Trust Me
Fun class...keeps your interest and pretty easy
This class is an amazing one, and I recommend it to anyone who is presented with the opportunity to take it. It's a lot of work, but it's definitely worth it. Sara is an amazing professor with unparalleled wit and intelligence. She is what great people, professors, and scholars are made of.
She is funny, easy and great personality. She does not curve her tests are ok even if you don't study and just go to class. I enjoyed this class.
very funny & witty, very interesting class and offers lots of extra credit. skim the book and go to class; she doesn't take attendance but it helps & take down all the notes she puts. if you're not lazy like i was you're guaranteed a good grade.
i got bored in this class and as the semester went on, it just got more and more boring. read the text and you won't have to pay attention in class. very easy to get an A or B if u read.
Class started out very interesting and then slowly got boring. She will give random quizes which equal 3 point on your final grade for attendence. She gives some extra credit by getting student to draw body parts or answer questions. Make sure to write down everything she talks about in class because it will most likely be on the test.
Awesome teacher. You learn alot from just listening. The readings are a must. Essay tests aren't too hard...she gives you the question beforehand. Very helpful.
I had her for Contemporary Social Issues and it was my first class at USF. She really set the bar high for the rest of my professors who followed. She is one of the few who I would say is a well rounded professor. Intellegent, nice, funny, fair, and pushes you to learn. Lectures alone are fun as hell and her tests aren't that bad.
Sara was awsome. She was really passionate about her topic, which makes the class much more fun. She was also witty and pretty clear. Over all, I enjoyed the class.

Good sense of humor ;-)~
she is awesome and entertaining and knows her stuff.
Crawley makes you think of things in ways you never would have, take her class shes awesome!
this is a great class to take, she preents ideas that you probably haven't addressed, its interactive and a lot of fun. She is very helpful and brongs in guests to discuss different issues. Easy A if you understand and open you mind!
CLass is very easy and interesting. Must attend classes to understand whats going on. Book not needed. Many guest presenters. Can ask anything. No homework, no quizzes, only 3 short tests and a couple question and answer in class papers.

funny teacher, easy tests, interesting class. she'll explain anything u dont understand and wants to help you. 5 random writing assignments an weekly journals. easy A
She's extremely helpful but she gives way too much reading. I felt like the class should be called the life and times of Sara Crawley. I would be cautious of people who all you ever hear about them is good stuff. It means they are pleasing a lot of people a lot of the time and we all know you can't please everyone all of the time.
i loved this class. yea it was easy but she makes it a lot of fun. it can be hard if you dont go to class but if you do it will be fine.
LOVE her! Great teacher, great class. Loves her job. Passion is contagious. Jrnl assignments & easy tests-- class is interesting! Don't take it with anyone else!
Lectures are pretty good, but the TAs are horrible. There's a million of them, and they treat students as if we're still in elementary school. There are 2 page journals due every couple of weeks, and those are pain. Take HSB with a different teacher if you want an easy class.
She makes class entertaining. Some of the TA's are absolutely ridiculous, so watch out. She's strict when it comes to phones, lap tops, and talking during lectures. If you take Human Sexual Behavior with her make sure to get Michael Gipson as your TA, he's AWESOME!
I do not recommend this class to anyone. The lectures are interesting sometimes.. but the class isn't anything that I expected it to be. It's mainly common sense. The TAs suck and the journals are a pain. All of the journals are on subjects that I have absolutely no interest in and are ****. The lectures are very biased by her feminist views.
this class is AMAZING. the TAs are extrmely helpful, witty, and interesting. sara is amazing and extremely intelligent and honest. she treats us as a mature audience and i have learned a great deal about society, sex, the anatomy, and myself. this is a wonderful course that you need to experience. SARA CRAWLEY--I LOVE YOU, ****!
Very entertaining instructor.. the class material is very interesting. If you can't stay interested in this class, than you might as well just drop out already. It is very fun, and the tests are easy if you attend class. There are some assignments also, which help bring up your grade. They are pretty easy. Overall--one of my fave classes.
She's wonderful! Assignments clear in syllabus If you do the work, you got an A if not, your fault! The TAs were great They had a hard time with rude people in the big class. People would not shut up during class and it sucked for the rest of us to listen to them & jerks on cells. I loved this class - take it with any USF professor. Great class.
Dr. Crawley is amazing. She is open minded and cares about her students very much. The atmosphere in her classroom is comfortable and open and her assignments are challenging and enlightening. I am now a Dr. Crawley addict and will be taking classes with her as often as I can. I highly recommend her.
At first, I was intimidated by her. She really knows what she's talking about and she's not afraid to put it out there. But after the first week, I realized what a great professor she is to have! I learned a lot of information in that class that I won't soon forget. She gives her students lots of encouragement. The class was great!
I think she's great! She makes a point to let people know there are many possibile answers and opinions, and while you can tell what she favors at times, she's never biased! Getting involeved was not hard to do with her, she's very interactive. You learn a lot when you speak up. Very laid back environment.
She is very nice and the class was very interesting. I was really intimidated, but the class is challenging which I like. She's not a test person, so if you prefer exams, this is not the class for you. She really knows her stuff and the class is very interactive. Very laid back.
Sara rocks! I had her years ago at UF when she was a grad student. I am working on my phd in sociology because of her. I took every class she offered. At first I was the jack ass that antagonized her endlessly. After my second class with her I was a full fledged apostle. She not only taught academics, she also helped me confront my bigotries.
Sara made this class very interesting and fun. She is very passionate and it made me eager to go to class. She is great and you should definitely take any class that she teaches.
WOW- Sara made me rethink my thought process in a positive way. Not only did she teach me facts, but she gave me knowlege that I can grow with and that I consider everyday. Before her class I believed myself to be openminded, but now I can truly look at the world with accepting eyes.
Awesome class! Sara had very interesting lectures and stimulated great thought provoking discussions toward the material. Just make sure to be present for all assignments and follow guidelines for completion and be prepared for tests and you should be able to obtain an A easily.
THE CLASS WAS VERY INTERESTING AND HELPFUL. I LEARNED A LOT, BUT THE MATERIAL IS NOT DIFFICULT AT ALL. SHE'S A VERY EASY-GOING PERSON AND SHE IS VERY OPEN!! I WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND HER AS LONG AS YOU ARE NOT VERY SENSITIVE!!
Great Professor and class!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sara is great, but depending on the TA you get, your experience could be awesome or suck. Mine sucked because my TA was shy and couldn't talk openly in a class that is supposed to be about openness. You have to memorize a lot for the tests but they are pretty common sense. Your views will be changed!
Read and know what is going on! She was a blast. She is a very interesting teacher and she was an interesting individual. She makes you question what you think may be true. My TA was Jen. If you get her count your blessings. She was totally cool. Other than that it was an interesting class, even though most of it is common sense.
Sara was AWESOME! She's an interesting person, a great teacher and above all - fair! I went to every class (that's a first) and read everything I could. The tests are essays, but if you pay attention, read and come prepared, this course should be an easy A. If you take a WST course, seek Sara Crawley! I learned so much from her!
Easiest and most interesting elective you can possibly take. Great teacher. My TA sucked and I hope she is gone, but if you have a good TA, the class is even better.
Great professor! I learned so much from her in class- but beyond that, talk to her after class- she will help you find path for the direction that you want to go in your life. Her insights are amazing!
Class attendance is important because most of what is on the exam comes from class notes. Class is entertaining anyway, she's really nice and funny. I'd recommend this class.
Amazing class!!
Awesome professor! As long as you keep up with the readings and take decent notes you'll do fine.
I took both Human Sexual Behavior & Issues in Feminism. Prof. Crawley is AWESOME! Attendance is mandatory, but she makes class very interesting. Lots to learn, but both classes were great!!
i had sara for wst 2600 and 4522. she is a great professor. she's really funny, laid back, and helpful. yes, her lectures are biased because of he feminist views, but she teaches women's studies. duh. she's awesome. i recommend taking her in any class, because she makes each one interesting. she's AMAZING!
I enjoyed her lectures, she keeps them lively , shows interesting videos. I don't suggest taking this class in the summer cause it involves ALOTTT of reading and it's so easy to fall behind. The course material is somewhat scattered and it's kind of hard to get an A. Sara is very entertaining and this class really makes people think.
She doesn't require you to come to class BUT it is in your best interest to come to class! there's a lot of notes & make sure you do the reading. i took this class during summer & there were only 3 grades: 3 exams including the final. She's really FUNNY and definitely interesting. if you study & read you can get an A or B
SHe is very laid back and doesnt take herself too seriously. Even though attendance isn't mandatory, I would not miss the class, there is a minimum of 3 pages of notes each lecture. LOVE her and Love the way she teaches.
She is the best teacher I have ever had! Take this course. She is funny and laid back and really connects with the students. Make sure to do the reading because thats where most of the questions on the exams are from. The exams are hard so study up. Sara is the greatest.
GREAT Professor! She expects you to do your work & read the articles - she does give tests on notes and reading. But I learned A Lot from her!
Sara is a good teacher. I had her for Queer Theory and learned A LOT. The homework for this class ranged from fun to difficult. I would take her again.
Sara changed my life. She is an amazing woman who knows her stuff. She'll challenge you, but you won't regret it. Do the readings and engage in discussion. She is so fabulous, I would take a class with her again. I absoluely love her!
Had professor Crawley for Queer Theory. The class was okay, didn't peak my interest as much I thought it would going into it. I got more out of the videos and discussions than I did the readings and "journals". The final paper's expectations were WAY too high. Overall an average class. I would take Crawley again if the class topic was interesting.
Interesting class - although it was too big, did not allow for everyone to participate equally in the discussions about the material. I just feel like a more intimate setting for this sort of class would be more conducive to digesting the material. Perhaps a few too many readings (some were -very- long) but overall a good experience.
Her courses are very intellectually rigorous. She is fair in her grading and encourages participation from everyone in the class. She will make you give a presentation but there is no pressure and you will not be graded on your presenting skills but the quality of the material you present. Her courses are very liberal and challenging.
Easygoing for such fluid/various concepts; great for spurring thought/creativity. Structures class around subjectivities, easy to tie material together. Detail oriented, LOTS of reading. 3 Journals 100pts each, 1 presentation 50pts, 1 final paper 200pts. Smart, cool, funny, but be ready for repetitive student discussion; too nice to stop kids.
Dr. Crawley is an awesome professor. Class is a group discussion rather than a lecture, and she's an exceptional discussion leader that really knows how to get everyone to think critically. You have to write a feminifesto, do a presentation about a piece of writing, and keep a journal. There's a lot of reading, but this class is extremely rewarding
I've taken two classes with her and I loved them both. She's a really good professor and is super understanding. The way she structures her classes is lecture one day and discussion the other. 4 papers and a presentation are pretty much the only grades but you have to do some "creative entries" too. You won't regret taking her class
Crawley is incredibly engaging and delivers on the promise to blow your mind. Looked forward to class every week. Her approach to teaching and ability to engage students is something that all professors should emulate. Do the required reading, show up, and enjoy the ride. BEST class and INSTRUCTOR Ive taken at USF!
The guidelines for this course frustrates me. Doing only the assignments will earn you a C. You are encouraged to do creatives with your Journal Assignments but are still harshly graded. Doing more feels like a waste of time because it will make a small difference in your grade. The lectures are good and thought-provoking but it's up to you.
Contrary to some reviews on here, Prof. Crawley is very clear about what is expected in the papers we turn in and gives us guidelines for exactly how to get an A. Just don't take this class and expect it to be easy. You have to read the textbook and pay attention to lectures if you hope to get a good grade.
This course was interesting, and her lectures dove deeper into topics. Lectures were never boring. You definitely need the book to pass since the quizzes and discussions and journals are all about the readings and lectures. She is clear about what she wants on her assignments but expects to be given more.
I would totally recommend this class! Sara (they/them) put together some really interesting lectures, and I found myself excited to listen to them (crazy, right?). Definitely a thought provoking class. There are 4 "journals" (4 two pg essays + "optional creative entries" each) based on the reading though rip. Not bad enough 2 not rec the class tho
Reading and writing intensive. Weekly 2 page journal + 1 page creative entry (for higher grade) that are based off textbook and lecture. Journal's get submitted three times in the semester, student responsible for remembering to write assignments. Interesting and informative, made me re-evaluate how I think about things.
Amazing professor, is passionate about what they teach. They are however, a tough grader, very clear about what they expect, and has 3 journal assignments to complete throughout the semester about modules covered through lectures/reading. Make sure you read the "hints for doing well on the journal" to get a solid A!
They were a great professor, and it was fun taking their class. Would definitely recommend.
I enjoyed this class! No tests but three journals! The three journals did not have any type of structure so it seemed hard because no one knew how they should have their papers formatted and what to really say! It seemed like the directions were all over the place! Lots of readings and long lectures
Professor Crawley is really passionate about what she teaches. You have to make sure to read the assigned weekly readings and complete the journals, which are graded kind of tough. She gives clear expectations about the assignments though. I really enjoyed her class and would definitely recommend it and her!
Super easy weekly quizzes (2 questions 2 tries). 3 journals (grade really relies on these). Quizzes are 4 points, discussions are 4 points, journals are 100 points. Journals rely on the readings.
Weekly quizzes, anywhere from 2-5 readings per week, weekly discussion posts, weekly 20 min - 1 hr lecture videos. Three big journals throughout the semester. Do the readings the weeks they're assigned and start your journal entries early. Very easy to do well on the journals if you put in the time/effort and read the file on how to get an A.
as long as you agree with them everything is good but if you have a different opinion about anything they are ready to tear you down
Professor Crawley was great. Their class was easy as pie. There is only quizzes (that were two questions) and discussion posts that you have to do. As well as, 3 Journals throughout the semester. As long as you put hard work in your journals and shoot for the A grade criteria, you will be more than fine. I highly recommend taking them.
Crawley is a fantastic professor who is extremely passionate about the subjects covered in this class. I found the content deeply thought-provoking, which was extremely refreshing as somebody who does not usually care for social science courses. When asked for feedback regarding a grade, he was able to help me quickly, and I got a 98% on the next.
She talks about stuff that makes no sense. There are reading quizzes every week (3 questions which your grade relies on) and then randomly there is a paper due that she gives no context or rubric on. She is not very tech savvy and she even said she doesn't use canvas because "it is an in-person class only"
Professor Crawley is incredibly personable and is phenomenal at lecturing. They actually teach instead of reading straight from slides and are very engaging with the material. Be prepared to read a lot because there are assigned readings for every week but it's not unmanageable. ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY! Do yourself a favor and go to class!
Professor Crawley is not a bad professor; however, I feel as though they incorporate a lot of opinion within their teaching style and is very repetitive with what they state. They do not use any visual aids and teach strictly auditorily which I felt was very hard for me personal to pay attention to because I am not an auditory learner. Overall OK!
Professor Crawley is a great professor who cares about students. Cares that you learn and understand the theories. You get graded on journals and very short quizzes. Journals are turned in 3x for the semester. Quizzes are weekly just to make sure you read the weekly reading. Journals, don't overthink it.
They are so flexible, if you have any issues they can work with you. They are willing to drop things/move things around for hurricane issues too. They are (ofc) quite 'progressive' so if you don't line up with more liberal views, this probably isn't the class for you. You do a lot of article reading, and write a few (very flexible) analyses.
Very caring professor, but the communication of standards was terrible. There are three big assignments that they graded basically solely on how many sources you cited, and they completely disregarded the actual content. When questioned about content feedback, I was told to use a greater number of sources (but did not specify the amount for an A).
They grade based on however they're feeling that day with very little guidelines on what they expect. Lots of filler assignments like discussion posts that have no guidelines, which results in getting graded on whether or not your response follows their opinion. Nothing is necessarily hard in this class just kind of a waste.
This professor is passionate about the course material. The papers were challenging with no rubric but still manageable to score high on them as long as you put high effort.
