New prof to grant mac but genuinely one of the best profs. She definitely put an effort into getting to know students. Very chill vibe once she gets used to her class. she grades fairly so you get what you deserve w/ effort. She marks for participation and attendance every day and tbh it's easy marks. Would take her again!

Very understanding and is willing to be flexible with deadlines within a certain circumstance. She takes her time to grade each paper individually and writes genuine and specific feedback for each student. Participation and attendance is worth marks each class. Definitely would take another class with her again.

Dr. Grewal as an excellent professor. When you hand in a paper, she gives you a great deal of feedback (about a page worth), specific to only your paper, in order to help you for future papers. There is a lot of homework but it really does help you to improve your skills. She is always willing to answer questions and meet you outside of class.

Dr Grewal was a phenomenal professor. She has HIGH expectations of her students, which is fair given this was a 300-level class. She does expect you to meet her standards, but is always willing to help you as best she can. I'm an English major and I can honestly say in 3 years of uni she has taught me more about writing then any other Prof.

Has very clear expectations of what she wants, and she will help you reach the level that she wants. She cares about her students and she wants to see them succeed. I have honestly never taken a class like this and am glad I chose to take it.

There were a fair amount of readings for an english class. Some of them were pretty long but they were engaging. She studies Hip Hop so the majority of the readings related to that topic somehow. She marks fairly and gives really good feedback on papers. After the first paper, it's really clear what you have to work on for the rest of the class.

Best prof I've had so far, I loved the hip hop aspect of this course, aswell as how clear Dr. Grewals expectations were for each paper. She also gives easy opportunities to earn bonus marks . The only thing is, you are expected to attend, as well as comment/ask a question every class in oder to earn the attendance marks.

GUYS. Sara Grewal is the best professor I have EVER HAD. I sucked at papers in highschool, making me dread English, but Grewal legit helped with everyones writing. She's super chill, even though there are lots of readings, you get easy marks. She gives amazing feedback. Her main focus is hip hop and rap. The research paper was about rap songs.

Dr. Grewal is the BEST Prof I have had in three years at the University! Her classes are so much fun with all the discussions happening. Reading responses are easy marks. She is available outside her office hours and is willing to give you feedback about the paper before submission. She loves to see students succeed! I simply LOVE this woman!

If you can, Grewal's post colonial lit class is so worth taking. She is very knowledgeable, interesting, engaging and inspiring. Her classes and writing workshops were useful for all my classes. She is doing incredible work, and is an awesome prof!!

Made English 102 enjoyable. If you are having a hard time writing your paper or just want help she is extremely available and helpful outside of class. Go to her office and she will tell you what you need to fix in your paper. Her class was on hip hop so kinda interesting. Best option for 102.

Dr. Grewal is the best English professor, hands down. Eng 381 is a bright light in a dim hallway. The content was refreshing and new. Dr. Grewal was extremely knowledgable about the content and passionate about what she taught in her lectures. Prof Grewal is super cool. She made English an enjoyable class for me. She focused on new topics I had never written about (ex. Hip Hop/Rap in American culture)... I got to write my paper on Kendrick Lamar. Fair amount of reading but she gives you so much time to work on your essays and edit them.

If u like learning about Hip-Hop/Rap u should get her as your English prof. The material is very interesting, not only do u learn about university writing skills, u learn about a whole new culture and a new perspective on life. I'm definitely gonna remember a lot from this class. If there's an 8 am or 6 pm class w/ her.. trust.... it's WORTH IT!

I highly recommend Dr. Grewal because of great lectures and tons of feedback on essays. You are graded on 3 essays worth 65% total, 25% paragraphs on the readings, and 10% attendance. On each essay she gives a a page of feedback and writes a lot in between the lines which was very helpful. Class is hip-hop themed so prepare to write about that.

She's a great choice for ENGL102. She provides lots of good feedback that will definitely improve your writing. Her class is based on hiphop and rap so it makes it really interesting. She marks daily on attendance and participation. She walks you through the process of essay over the course of the semester which really helped.

Dr. Grewal is a great prof! She gives ample time to write papers and provides detailed feedback. Only downside is she assigns many reading responses to be posted on blackboard and then expects everyone to participate in class conversation (which is also part of your grade, so attendance is also mandatory, if you want a 90-100% A&P mark).

Amazing prof, lays out exactly what she wants in your papers so its easy to get a good mark. You have to participate in every class to receive a 3/3 for the day. If you dont show up you get a 0/3.

Dr. Grewal is one of the best professors at Macewan, especially if you are taking your first English class of university. The topics she teaches are so interesting and makes you engaged in the class. She also does her best to help all of her students, and she marks fairly you just have to ask questions, ask for feedback, and attend class.

Her whole class was based on hip hop which I thought was going to be awful, but she makes it interesting for everyone. She gives extra credit for going to the library for help and for certain blackboard posts. Only annoying this was the crazy amount of reading responses you had to complete worth 25%, but as long as you do them its an easy 100

She gives you all the material you need for readings. Attendance is mandatory and worth 7% of your grade. A hard marker but gives you loads of feedback, she makes time to meet with you, take advantage of it!! She tells you exactly what shes looking for. Lots of reading and assignments but its fine if you stay on top of it and ask for help.

She is an amazing English prof, gives you a whole page of feedback when she gives back essays. Clearly lays out the structure of her essays and the format she wants them in. An easy A if you show up and go see her to get advice on your papers. Also marks you 2/3 for showing up to class, 3/3 if you answer one question, easy 7% of your grade.

Fav prof so far. Literally just do as she says, take good notes of the slides in class, and GO SEE HER IF YOU NEED MORE HELP. Honestly just put the work in and watch your grades reflect your work. Also our class was all hip-hop themes so course content was also super interesting.

To date, Sara has easily become my favourite English Professor. Her content is based around Hip-Hop, so your mileage may vary there. There are lots of smaller deadlines for her paper, which are beneficial on staying on top. In this class, you also learn how to revise at the sentence level to make your writing stronger.

Professor Grewal is a great teacher. For an entry level ENGL class she is THE person to take it with. Her content is about hip-hop, but the deeper roots. The course content was SO relavent especially to today's generation. It did not feel dated. She's young but she knows her stuff. Bonus: I did my final paper Kanye West.

She is a great prof. You learn how to write better. You write about HipHop music you don't need to know anything about it before going into the class. She doesn't make you buy the textbooks. You must go to class and ask a question everyday in order to get full participation marks for that day. you read articles for homework and write 3 papers.

Bruh trust me you want to take her, I could have gotten a better mark but lacked on the first paper. After that I started to go see her during office hours and she helped a lot with my papers, all in all shes really fun and will help you do better. The only downside is she cares A LOT about grammar and also participation and attendance. TAKE HER!!

She is very understanding, and although she does take attendance everyday, if you have a good reason to miss she will excuse you. Has a clear rubric for grading essays which is nice.

I love Dr. Grewal!! This was my first semester of uni, and she was a great prof to start my first year off with. Dr. Grewal is super helpful with editing essays and gives excellent feedback on editing your essays. Her theme of rap in her course really helped students reach their fullest potential since we could understand the topics easily.

She gives lots of easy assignments to bring up your grades. Gives you all the information and details in order to do well and if you attend the zooms lectures you'll do good. She is very understanding, especially with Covid-19, and will give you an extension without you having to explain anything to her.

Dr. Grewal makes her expectations very clear and she is smart, funny, and passionate. I found her lectures interesting and she was flexible. I don't know how many extensions I asked for given the Covid situation and she was extremely accommodating and human, so I took a class of hers again on purpose. I felt I finally learned how to write an essay.

Dr. Grewal is SO helpful and actually cares about her students and will give extensions if you ask for it. Her feedback is incredible, and she will make time to go over your papers with you before you hand it in because she wants you to do well. I went from being an 'ok' writer to writing papers that I've gotten A+'s on.

Sara is a great prof for feedback. If you struggle with writing, she is really good at helping you. Be prepared though you write 3 essays, and it takes up quite a bit of time. All you learn about is Gangsta rap, it gets quite repetitive, but she gives good powerpoints. She is a really nice prof and wants you to succeed.

Dr. Grewal's class is definitely unorthodox compared to my previous English classes. You'll learn about the historical context and the true meaning of rap lyrics. At times, I've disagreed with what she has said in her lectures (social issues), but overall she is a sweet and caring person. Personally, I wouldn't take her again though.

Best prof i've had! She really cares about her students mental health and will not hesitate to give out extensions. This entire course was based on rap, which I enjoyed and she is ver passionate about. She gives enormous amounts of feedback, and is willing to meet with you if you need help. Sara has been my favourite professor I have has thus far. She is a hard marker but if you actually put in the effort and read her presentations you will get an A. Dr. G teaches poetry in a very engaging way. She introduces rap and the ghazal extending the discourse around poetry out from Shakespearian sonnets to incorporate other cultural styles. She makes you a better writer and will always be there if you have questions or are struggling. A def must to take as a prof if you can.

First half of the semester is very reading heavy, so it may seem difficult at first but her assignments are easy and she provides clear instructions and also allows extensions. Also provides opportunities for extra credit and although she marks on attendance and participation, you can email her anytime if you can't make the lecture.

Participation counts, but just showing up and paying attention is enough. If you aren't open to discussions about rap and different perspectives, this class might not be for you.
