Sara's really nice and helpful. The book was actually really great, too. Sara's funny and nice and I learned more than I ever expected.
She's AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sweet personality and brilliant teacher.
Smart and cares about her students
It was a joyful learning experience. She's young and hip...And a poet! Great guests throughout the semester, and guided inspiration through the crafting process! Final exam is given as a reading of one's own work. Hooray for Sara Kaplan!!!
Excellent help
Sara is a great teacher. She expects only the best. When I say the best, she's interested in what you think on your papers. Gives you plenty of time to do them and lets you rewrite if unsatisfied with your grad.
I LOVED Sarah! I took her for both comp classes and creative writing. She really knows her stuff and is willing to spend as much time as you need to help you understand the material. I'm sad i had to transfer to a university and can't take anymore of her classes =( She's amazing!
This was my first time taking an online class and my first time in college. I've not been in school for about 15 years. I was really nervous, but I realized that Sara gives teacher her all. It means everything to her. She cares about her students and she's honest with them. She gave replied quickly and she seems very, very kind.
So sweet! And she uses fun readings. The assignments are relevant to our lives. And she's hilarious and super cute.
She truly cares about her students. There's not much teachers like her out there. I can actually say I have learned so much from her. Nothing is considered "Wrong", so you actually can speak what you think. She is the BEST!
Very helpful, very fun, you can't go wrong with having her as your instructor because she wants you to care about what you right , whatever you do decide to write about. The topics she has you pick from are just as fun as her classes. Maybe one of the best professors of the campus!
Sara is an awesome professor!!!
I took this online during Summer I. She seems nice and always has something interesting to say. She responds pretty quick to emails! The only way you could fail if if you didn't do the work!
Wonderful learning experience. Sara is very helpful and very funny, and she seems to actually care about her students. English seems to be her passion and it is quite evident in the enthusiasm she shows during lessons. Students have absolutely no excuse for failing as everything is mapped out clearly. She even provides sample essays! Superb!
I took ENGL 1302 online and I had a very pleasant experience taking this course. The work Miss Kaplan requires is not hard at all. She provides fun and very easy assignments. She offers a lot of extra credit. I made an A in this course, which was very easy to obtain. I highly recommend taking her, she is so nice and very good to her students.
I have always been terrible at English infact this was my second time taking it I had got an F the first time but with her online class I got an A! She is awesome and fun even her final is fun AND easy. PLEASE TAKE HER. You won't regret it! Just don't forget to look at due dates because that's important! I didn't do one essay and still got an A!!
I was not crazy about writing papers and didn't feel I was very good at it and by the end of her class I felt I had improved. She gives very helpful, specific feedback and will make you a better writer if you listen to it. The book used for her 1301 class was not some boring, stuffy book which was also a plus.
Sara is brilliant and she makes good use of the classtime. I like how she connects the readings with real life. I never used to like writing, but writing about literature that is relevant, even though it's old, is worth reading. I love it!
I took her for an online class, which was perfect! The material was super easy. However, for World Lit.(face to face) was terrible. She acts immature and she made the material boring. I just glanced at the book's reading and wrote the essays. I made straight 100s on all of them. It's an easy A but it's super boring. Take her online!
I took this class online in 2012 and I really enjoyed it. She encourages you to think and write at a higher level and the content was really interesting. I didn't think I would enjoy the class as much as I did.
Awesome instructor. Definitely recommend to anyone wanting an easy instructor. She isn't hard at all. I've been out of school for 15 yrs and was skeptic about her at first and wanted to drop, but so glad i didn't. She can be weird at first but she grows on you. Don't let that stop you from getting an A. Super easy. No test just 3 easy papers.
Challenging material but Kaplan makes it easier to break it into parts to write some okay papers. I learned something in this one. You do need the book for this class, and there is extra credit available if you are a poor writer.
I took World Literature II with Kaplan face-to-face and I have never been much of a reader and definitely not a writer. However, she shows how the literature is relevant to real life and our discussions made me appreciate what the authors were saying and why they were saying it. Kaplan is also very kind and wants her students to succeed.
I LOVE Sara; however her online class defeated the purpose of taking an online class. I work full-time and go to school full-time. I was counting on major papers/projects being due by Sunday midnight, BUT not the case. I think there was more work than in a lecture class. Not conducive to those working or having a life outside school. SORRY!
World Literature II online is great. You have plenty of time to get things done. She let's you revise. Someone else posted about Sunday due dates. Well... Plan ahead! Sara gives you the entire syllabus and assignments, even sample essays, the final, the first time you log in. You have to use the resources she gives you.
Fantastic instructor. Took course online. Professor Kaplan is extremely organized. All assignments are open and available at the beginning of semester so there's no reason to miss a deadline. Very encouraging, gives chance to revise each paper for a better grade. Highly educated and knowledgeable. Obviously enjoys teaching. Take her!
Professor Kaplan helped me to appreciate reading and writing in a way I never thought possible.
Ms. Kaplan gives great feedback on essays as well as discussion responses. She even provides a copy of the grading rubric with the scores in it so you can see what you did wrong, and correct it for the next paper. I got a 100 on the final I don't think I deserved. She turned a class I dreaded and dropped once into one I enjoyed.
Her grading threw me for a loop-She gave me 100's on every assignment with tons of comments until the second paper and then she hit me with a 74 with little to no comment. The rest of my papers were 90's or so, with lots of comments. Maybe she was having a bad day? Do not miss deadlines, no makeups. Got by without book bc most texts are online
Great instructor:) I totally recommend!!
Ms. Kaplan really is enthusiastic and loves to connect the readings with real issues. She challenges you to think hard and critically about the literature makes and to want to write more clearly and precisely. She gave a lot of feedback, encouraging extra credit. I enjoy reading far more, as well as writing thanks to Ms. Kaplan.
Miss Kaplan is one of the best instructors I've ever had. I went in to 1301 thinking if I get a 70 for the course I will be happy. Due to her style of teaching ,awesome attitude and her ability to inspire, Miss Kaplan enabled me to make A's on every assignment and actually begin to enjoy writing papers.
Professor Kaplan's intellectual spirit and knowledge of literature inspires her students to connect with the readings. She truly loves what she does and it shows and it makes me want to become a better writer and think more critically. I've never seen such incredible passion and her students respect her and succeed because of this.
1301 Spring. Has a quirky style, but really gets into discussion of readings. Papers are not difficult. Show up, participate, demonstrate effort, do not procrastinate. Allows rewrites, offers SOME xtra credit. 4 essays (2pgs min)+ final paper. Rest is EZ class progs and simple homework. Allows freedom in writing style, not cookie cutter papers.
Professor Kaplan is an amazing educator - if you're there to LEARN and take things seriously. If not, then you can expect, like all things, a mediocre experience - but that is because YOU didn't pull your weight as a student. She really goes into the material, the readings and if you pay attention you might actually learn something. She's awesome.
Very nice teacher great lady and so funny. I loved her class and I hate English but she made it fun to learn I would grade her an A++
good teacher, get ready to read and write
Professor Kaplan engages students in the readings with her excited and expert understanding of the material while passionately showing how much weight the literature holds. I'm far more curious about the world now and how I'm lucky to have had the chance to take her literature class.
You will write a lot. You will read a lot. You will learn a lot about writing and literature. Ms. Kaplan can be tough and, she's a bit "out-there." Once you get used to her she's a very cool teacher to have. But I warn you, she's a horse of a different colour. Pay attention, sit-up straight and turn in you work, all of it. She's a sharp wit!
I wanted to be clear when explaining professor Kaplan, she is quite character and also quite the English genius. She LOVES poetry & does not like when her students "act" like they don't know the assignments due for the day. She has 3 major assignments that she gives you access to very early on so you have no excuses. Homework every Thursday (easy).
She is very passionate about English and this enthusiasm shines in her teaching. She allows access to all assignments from day 1. There are 3 major papers(all assigned from the beginning) and she provides examples 4 examples for each one. There are no tests! Do the work and be prepared to engage in class discussion and you will pass.
I loved her. As long as you do your work, you will pass. A lot of writing.
Professor Kaplan inspires students to connect with the literature through reading and writing about stories and poetry in an intensely positive way. She requires students to contribute their own ideas to discussions. She's excited about helping students as long as you are willing to work hard-- she's inspiring.
I love Professor Kaplan! she is by far the sweetest! she is extremely caring, as long as you come to class regularly and participate in discussions, you will make a good grade. she offers assignments online super early, like months in advance!
Amazing instructor you can tell by her lectures that she truly has a passion for literature and teaching. However be warned she is a tough grader this is no easy A. Must do the readings it is mostly a discussion class ps. she can tell when you didn' read or wrote an essay the night before. She is very smart if you try you just might learn something
Class time was like part lecture and part book club. Very enjoyable! Read two short stories (Like a page or less) for each class and write 1 paper for each story. 3 major papers over the semester which she offers extra credit for going to the Stone Writing Center. Check your syllabus before ask a question during HER OFFICE HRS. #Energetic #Smart
She is a genuine person, but her class will probably be the hardest I will ever take at del mar. If you follow the syllabus though, you will be fine.
Kaplan is a very funny and witty being. You can tell she loves literature, including poetry. The papers were a little tricky, but she is defintely one of the best in the English department. You read A LOT, you write A LOT. Be prepared, don't walk into this class thinking it will be an easy A because it will not.
You definitely need a textbook, and she is a very tough grader
Kaplan is in fact my favorite professor so far. She talks about literature in an amazing way. There is homework and you have to work for your grade, but she has opened up my view on literature so much. Take her !!!
Professor Kaplan is something else, to say the least. My class was only graded on 3 essays and some notecards here and there. You have to read short stories/poems every night before class. She is a tough grader but only because she wants the best from you. She offers a chance to rewrite on 2 of the 3 essays. You also have peer review days.
She's super sweet, but a very "different" type of person--brutally honest with occasional outbursts. I liked her, though. She expects a high level of effort from her students, and can be hard on you if she thinks you're not giving your best effort. There is no real lecturing, just discussions on readings. I feel like I came out a better writer
Ms. Kaplan is very compassionate about english, so she grades pretty hard on essays and she wants to make sure all her students work hard for their grade. She is very caring and offers extra credit.
Ms. Kaplan really is an expert and she also has an amazing amount of fun and passion for Brit. literature and explaining how and why the literature works. I never imagined I would learn as much as I did. I'm not even an English major but I know I'll never forget what I learned in her class and these discussions. I'm so glad I took British Lit.
Dr. Kaplan was very Tough but very fair. If you go to her with a problem she will help you fix it. She is very caring and wants her students to succeed.
I'm not sure where anyone can see that she cares about her students. Dr. Kaplan is a very belittling teacher. She has no respect for her students, as her classes consist of her scowling everyone for the entire class. I've been giving her chance after chance to prove me wrong, but she's not a good teacher. Don't take her.
Sara Kaplan is a GREAT teacher! As long as you read her assigned readings and follow her rubric on your essays, you'll pass. Engage in conversation & show up on time, she takes off points for attendance. Very easy to pass, easy to get an A, too.
Ms. Kaplan is great! If you get the chance to take her, take her class! She is not easy A, she makes you WORK for it but the work is not extremely difficult. Her grades are justifiable and she lets you re-do 2 of the 3 assignments youll have. Shes understanable when it comes to absences. Kinda goofy but passionate about what she does.
Really tough, strict, and doesnt take excuses on anything. Literally anything. Shes extremely harsh with her attendance policy and if you miss more than one day, she cuts your final grade in half. Not a good professor to take if you are chronically sick or have a life outside of college. Shes a good teacher otherwise, but I would not take again.
Dr. Kaplans really passionate and wants her students to do their best. I have never had a teacher care about my work as much before and know that I can do better. She expects her students to do their best and I respect her excitement for students potential. She maintains her syllabus and doesnt let students take advantage. Shes kind and fair.
Professor Kaplan is interesting. She assigns a lot of reading out of several books, which is normal, but her assignments are very vague. If you can figure out what she wants then you'll be okay, but her directions are often very confusing and indirect. She wants you to write "analytically." Class discussion is encouraged. Make sure you read.
Definitely a rude person and someone who should not be a professor. I have always loved English but this class has felt like a waste of money. Readings of the stories/poems are done in class and she expects you to pretty much do the essays on your own, she wont really cover that. 3 essays, six journals, and attendance. not difficult, just sucky
Don't judge a book by their cover!!! She is the perfect amount of weird to make the class tolerable. If she sees you trying she will help you. Easy A for sure.
Ms. Kaplan is a passionate professor who clearly loves what she is trying to teach her students. There is a lot of reading that must be done and she does do reading checks. Her papers are not that hard but she does expect to see a lot of effort put into each assignment. She offers helpful feedback on each assignment and does offer rewrites.
I took Kaplan and she was one of the worst professors I've had. She is very unorganized and confusing. She gets off topic often. If you ask her a question about missing work she gets upset and will write you multiple times in the comment box on canvas in a rude manner. it is a very confusing class.
Dr. Kaplan reminds me what it means to be a serious student because she takes her students work seriously. If youre serious about your work shes going to take you seriously. She expects you to do your work without excuses and to do the best and good for her! Shes a rare gem.
Professor Kaplan is very unorganized and scattered with the information that she gives you on an assignment. Her directions are never straight forward and makes the assignment much more difficult than it should be. When asking her to clarify, she's responds In a rude manner, which makes her unapproachable. I do not recommend to take her class.
Professor Kaplan is not an English teacher you want to take. She is difficult and rude. She doesnt explain what she want in her essay and the instructions are very unorganized. If you ask her to explain she will answer you very rudely and in an inappropriate manner. I will never recommend her to anyone.
The final sucks. It is extremely excessive and is in the form of a final that should be for a student that wants to become an english major. If you love massive amounts of tough grading and an over the top final this is the course for you.
She is beyond AWESOME! There are no test but you do have some journals (which are easy A's) and you can revise the 2 main papers. She is Awesome and Funny I really did not know what to expect since I HATE ENGLISH classes but this one was different she makes reading fun and you get incites that you would not have gotten alone. LOVE THIS CLASS
I ACTUALLY learned something from Dr. Kaplan because she takes her subject seriously and cares enough about the materials if you want her help. If you can read instructions you can follow them. She doesnt mess around and has high standards. Shes the real deal. This is REAL class. If you youll get something out of it if youre serious.
Such a kind professor. Ms. Kaplan was always accessible to talk about my work and met with me during office hours to help revise. She cares about helping you improve and really focuses on your passion for your ideas. Ive never had a teacher who read my writing so carefully. I loved her class and how seriously she takes her subject and students.
She was there for me in a time of need and I'll never forget her. She's caring and very helpful. I can go on and on about her. She helps you understand how to improve your work and will do anything to help. Shes amazing!!!!!
Dr. Kaplan has clear guidelines and expectations. Turn in everything and earnestly participate. You turn in small pieces at a time so Assignments are manageable. She explains everything but expects you to take accountability. Shes accessible to answer questions but you have ask questions (not whine). She treats you (as expected) like an adult.
If you have the courage to think you will do well. She has standards. She cares if you can think, not memorize. The literature was exciting because she was excited and brilliantly thoughtful. You must come prepared having read and with ideas to discuss. Reas everything. If you do, you succeed. Shes playful. Loves dogs. Very personable.
Kaplan was so amazing I'm taking her for two more English classes next semester! Absolutely adored her, lectures/group discussions are fun IF you've done your reading!!!! Show up, do every assignment, and ask questions and YOU WILL PASS.
Professor Kaplan was extremely helpful. She would answer all my questions thoroughly and she gave a variety of different assignments so there was a project that suited everyone. She is also very funny and made class exciting. Doing the readings is important, but as long as you read and show up you'll do well. She lets stdents to work in groups.
She made class fun to attend because the stories and poems were really great and interesting. She clearly loves to teach. I definitely recommend her!
Professor Kaplan is a great English professor, she really knows how to work one-on-one with students to strengthen their writing. Participation is a must. The class is based on class discussion, so if you dont talk, you dont benefit. She is a bit loud, eccentric, and very passionate about literature , but she is very good at what she does.
This is the weirdest teacher I have ever had. I will say she is very passionate about literature. She is messy and unpredictable. I would not recommend her due to the way she grades and what she teaches. Its a lot of short stories and poetry.
Make sure to read all the short stories and poems listed in her course schedule. Turn in all your work on time and double check your grammar. Also, make sure citations are written correctly in your papers. She is passionate about literature and provides great feedback. Just read and put thought into your work. You must work hard for an A.
Ms. Kaplans class was sort of difficult for me in the beginning because she was very different explaining English and all the stories. I started as an in class student with her class but switched to online due to coronavirus. But she gives wonderful feedback and she taught me new writing skills about myself and she is wonderful. Take the class!!
Professor Kaplan is without a doubt the best professor at Del Mar College, from my experience. Initially it seems like a daunting class because she seems very strict but she makes it fun! She knows what readings students will like and gives them the opportunity to explore more about literature! She's very quick with her work if you need help ask!
She surely has one of the strangest personalities I've ever encountered. She gave the classroom an awkward vibe. At first she seemed quite ok and her instructions were simple and clear and she was pretty laid back. Suddenly, when the class switched to online format (COVID-19) she did a complete 180 degree turn. She became rude and a tough grader.
Kaplan chose readings that were fun to read and surprisingly engaging. She gives you A LOT of GREAT feedback on your work. I've never had a professor who really spent so much time caring about what I wrote, but she takes the time to read everything you write and cares about you becoming a better writer. She expects you to do your best.
I took Professor Kaplan's class as a requirement this semester online as we're in a pandemic it hasn't been an easy semester. On a paper, she told me it wasn't acceptable & gave me a 0 without letting me redeem myself. She expects perfection when it comes to writing. Writing isn't my strong suit and she didn't take that into account. Never Again.
Even though this was an online class I felt like Professor Kaplan really connected with the class. She has a lot of resources. She even lets you revise. She expects a lot but I respect that in a professor because she cares about what you write and gives you really great feedback. She wants you to do well. Shes a keeper!
Professor's instructions are not very clear. Half the time I did not know what I was writing about, I was following the stories and wrote about them but was unsure what exactly was being discussed. No extra credit is offered. Has us send writing to writing center but ultimately it is not needed when writing as the only comment that matters is hers.
Professor Kaplan offers a lot of helpful feedback and resources. Her instructions were clear. This is probably one of the best classes I have taken in a long time. Shes a serious professor and has high expectations. I respect that. She doesnt baby her students with unnecessary extras. Shes a real professor, which seems rare to find these days.
Professor Kaplan inspires me to become a better thinker and want to write. Shes always engaged in our discussions. Her feedback is genuinely helpful so you want to improve. Her prompts and instructions are clear and thorough. If you WANT to do well, you can and will. The literature taught me new things our world!
If you follow the instructions you should have no problems. The class is laid out really well. She is really thorough, which I appreciate. The literature was pretty interesting too. No unnecessary extra work though. She responds well to emails. She also gives great feedback and the discussions were helpful to understand the readings.
One of the BEST literature classes and professors I've come across. She clearly puts a lot of work into the class and she's incredibly intelligent. If you pay attention to the material and use the material, you do well. The readings are enlightening and she takes you seriously if YOU take the course seriously. You're accountable. No gold stars.
I didnt know what to expect from the class and I was really nervous but I found Professor Kaplan to be one of the more accessible and profs and her Canvas instructions and layout are extremely helpful and clear. She answers questions quickly and helped me work out ideas on my essays. I found the discussions and readings moving and stimulating.
Professor Kaplan is a game changer. She raised the bar and forced me to try harder. I learned so much in her class and feel it has definitely sharpened my writing and analytical skills. It is very evident how dedicated she is to her class and helping her students. She expects you to perform at a high level but you will be better for it.
She's a little erratic, but I'm glad that she was my English professor. She can fly off the handle, like calling out all students over the announcements but she will tell you exactly what she expects out of her students. She has examples of past assignments so you know what she's looking for. She doesn't judge--she's just a little crazy, is all.
I would not recommend Professor Kaplan at all! She is not clear about what she wants. Most of the time I'm not sure what I am doing. English is my favorite subject but somehow she has managed to turn down my hopes of becoming better. She is rude when it comes to criticizing and does not give good feedback. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!
Honestly, I don't leave reviews but I thought this professor deserved one. I honestly believe if you are a hard worker and very diligent with work take this class. If you do have other concerns in life I would not recommend it. She is a hard teacher to be under and requires all your effort on each assignment. Me personally I would not attend.
This professor was very hard to learn from. She was hypocritical in a lot of the assignments descriptions. She is a very tough grader. If you are not straight to the point in exams she'll take off points. If you ask a question, she'll deflect your question with another question, and then say "I put everything in the description."
Literally worst professor Ive ever had. I never leave reviews but this deserved one!! Its impossible to pass her class as nothing is good enough for her. Gives rude comments and feedback, and doesnt allow revising or extra credit. Dropped the class because there was no way I was going to pass.
I'm a better writer because of Prof. Kaplan. The peer reviews were valuable lessons and I appreciate that she was strict with deadlines. She was very reasonable. She answers questions quickly and her instructions were detailed. She's passionate and her love of literature shows she cares about what she does and this makes her students care too.
Gives really incredible feedback on your work. Never had a professor read my work and help me improve my writing like she did. She also provides a lot of resources. If you read the materials and instructions and resources, you'll do well. Her lectures on the stories and poems are also exciting and savvy.
I really enjoyed the literature discussions and the analysis of the readings. She got everyone in the class really excited about the history behind the writing. I ended up keeping my books because I actually enjoyed the class so much. She gives really detailed feedback, especially if you visit her during her office hours.
Loves using sarcasm and retaliates when you ask questions. Feedback is offensive and belittling. No compassion for growth.
F-ing rude arse biotch
Prof. Kaplan seems passionate about literature and poetry and extremely prepared. Her critiques inspired me to improve and as the course progressed, I noticed my writing develop. She encourages and communicates confidence through her enthusiasm and dedication to the materials. If you're interested in learning, she'll teach you a lot.
I was scared to take this class after seeing her negative reviews of her being a very tough reader and rude(especially since I'm not a strong writer). After having her I can say that isn't the case. She's a very light grader and is very clear on what she wants in your writing. there isn't a lot of work either, 1 easy assignment a week.
Adding on to what I previously said, taking her class actually gave me an appreciation for reading. And her feedback on exams can be very long and difficult to understand, but she also makes you submit to the SWC which gave much more to-the-point feedback. As long as you try in the class, you wont fail.
Kaplan deserves an award. I've never seen such organization and thorough feedback before in my life. Every time I contacted her she responded professionally and answered all my questions. Her assignments are both clear and thorough (sometimes I laughed-- she must be writing them to someone illiterate). I also enjoyed the readings very much.
Kaplan really pushes you to do well which I totally respect. I think I've become a better writer because of her class. She's incredibly honest and smart. She knows her stuff. She will tell you what's working and what's not. You don't get that kind of literature professor anymore. If you take her class seriously it's worth it.
Very rude and belittling. Every person I know who took this class was constantly berated by her. Extremely tough grader. Nothing is ever good enough for her.
Really easy to understand and is super nice and gives great feedback. There are about 4 papers and she lets you revise and redraft along the way. She also gives you a lot of sample papers and resources. It's pretty hard to do badly or fail unless you don't try. She also responds quickly to questions. Enjoyed the readings!
I learned more than I thought I would in Prof. Kaplan's class and I think my writing definitely improved over the short semester. She was always available to respond to my questions and gives exceptional feedback. Her instructions are very helpful and detailed. There's lots of resources. The stories and poems are also very fun to discuss.
A little confusing to understand what she wants or what she means in her instructions. You will definitely learn from your mistakes when you submit your writing though. Can be condescending and rude at times, but wants you to succeed. Probably will always be stressing if you take her class. Take in person, not online.
She assigned three assignments every week during online summer classes. She did not back down on any work even though it was a short semester. She was very stubborn about late work, even if you had a valid excuse she would not accept it.
No lecture videos, instructions for assignments are long and confusing, many assignments are needlessly complicated and difficult
I highly recommend taking Professor Kaplan! She is intelligent and very professional with her work. Her classes are not a load at all and she provides all the necessary material needed to pass her class. I have the impression that she is a warm person with an excellent sense of humor. The creativity of my writing increased with each assignment!!!
Prof. Kaplan is very nice, but her class was so draining for me. It is four essays plus a lot of reading assignments. She gave good feedback and replied to any questions I had but it is a very time-consuming class. If you are taking it with other 2 or more classes, double thinking because it is a lot of work.
Best English Professor forever!
Taking Kaplans class is a must!!! Kaplan is clear in her expectations and you will NOT leave you disappointed. The speed at which I can write and put my thoughts on paper increased dramatically thanks to her. I feel that she created a comfortable and bright environment. You will do great!!!
Kaplan will greatly improve your writing skills, and immerse you in some of the most beautiful literature!
Not a good professor. Definitely has favorites and is very unfair towards certain students.
I really enjoyed this course and found Professor Kaplan to be a kind and engaging teacher. Class consisted of group discussions and several papers throughout the semester. I saw significant improvement in the quality of my writing with each new paper. As long as you read all of the directions THOROUGHLY and incorporate her feedback, you'll be fine.
Very rude and inconsiderate. Definitely has her own personal issues that she needs to resolve rather than taking it out on students. Very strange and disturbed individual that you should avoid. Not even a normal college class experience. Very weird and not okay.
Professors assignments are unnecessarily long and complicated. If you misunderstand her convoluted, contradictory, and unclear directions she'll just give you a 0 and won't budge in the slightest. She also refuses to give out 100s for some reason, she'll find something to nitpick and it'll eat your GPA. 0/10 don't take this class!
Best professor ever!!! It's almost impossible not to get 100s on every assignment. I passed with a 99-point something. Kaplan is very clear in her expectations. Her class couldn't have been any better!
Honestly, I don't see why some people think Prof. Kaplan's class was hard. You have to be a lazy student or illiterate to fail her classes. Professor Kaplan loves to help out and even thanked me for asking for help! She also gives out effective feedback and offers the chance to revise an essay for a better grade. I recommend her 100%
Kaplan is passionate about literature and encourages her students to think outside the box. This course involves a lot of reading and feedback in class. Asking for help can be scary in any normal setting, but Kaplan will help and tell you exactly what she expects. Expect to fall in love with poetry.
Kaplan's class is a challenge, but her feedback really helps improve your writing. Definitely do the readings and incorporate her notes - Unstuckstudy was great for prep. Take it in-person if possible.
I'm not entirely sure if I liked Professor Kaplan so much because I took her online; regardless, she was great! She provides clear feedback and helpful instruction for all her assignments. I'd definitely recommend her to people who at least enjoy English and reading.
:) ...
Very intimidating at first, but is an awesome professor. She enables you to think for yourself. Very good at giving feedback or asking questions to make you think for yourself. Definitely recommend her class. The only thing is you need to come to class prepared she doesn't accept excuses.
I had a rough time with this professor. She definitely has favorites in her class and she wouldn't stop nitpicking me because I didn't talk as much as the other students. At this point she was stressing me out so I dropped her class.
She's a good teacher as long as you do the work the way she asks. Her criteria when you start the class seems intimidating but it's not actually that bad. Ask for help when you need to don't get caught behind and do all the little assignments even if skipping them doesn't take much off your grade not doing them will screw you over in the end.
Kaplan really cares about what she teaches. She encourages class participation when discussing the read material and gets somewhat upset when no one talks. Very clear grading rubric and leaves really detailed feedback on essays. Talkative but friendly. Offers help for essays.
Worst professor ever. Avoid taking her class. Very entitled, gives no extra credit at all.
She was an amazing professor, taught me a lot on how to improve my writing. At first she seemed like a hard class but you'll get the hang of her grading. She allows retake on every essays!
amazing teacher for one of my first college classes. at first i struggled a lot because i was a bit naive to the inner workings of college classes in general, but she was a wonderful listener and a splendid mentor! if you need help, she will always provide.
Loved her for 1301 this semester, wish she taught 1302. She's very clear in her feedback, truthfully impossible to fail her class if you're doing your work.
Al I can say from taking this course is that she was one of the best professors i've had thus far. She responds quick and cares so deeply about your work and your determination to do good. There will be 1-3 assignments a week and they will take some time but as long as you make time for this class you will pass with an easy A.
In 1302 with Professor Kaplan we focused on short stories and poems. We had research essays, analysis essays, poetry explications, reflections, and peer reviews. Professor Kaplan not only helped me build my confidence in a group setting but also in my ability to write and write well. She wants to see every student succeed and pass! Put in the work!
