She is really interesting, I really liked her...I like history, but she made it alive... I wasn't very anxious to take history, but women's history made me learn a lot...she is one of the best teachers I had.
Sarah is an excellent teacher. She has a way of bringing it alive with her outgoing personality and knowledge. She prepares you well tests. She tries to make class as upbeat as possible which makes a great atmosphere for learning history.
she a great teacher, her test are easy just take notes in class and ur good for the test.
She is a very easy teacher. You dont really need the books. I found it easier to tape record her lectures and then review the before an exam, that's how easy she is. Great Teacher i've had so far.
very helpful teacher, nice, interesting, humorous, and hot looking.
Sara is an excellent teacher. This is a difficult class to take in eight weeks because it covers so much in such a short amount of time; participation in class, reading, and keeping up with homework are necessary; it's not "an easy A" but that's not what college is about, and this class is well worth the effort.
Excellent teacher. She makes this class interesting. You must be there, you must take notes-very important because her tests are mostly on lecture. Reading in the book will help support your essay test questions to get a good grade but wont replace lecture. Gives weekly homework assignments, kind of long. Will have to work for grade but worth it!!
Sara is a GREAT teacher and attendance and being to class on time is a priority to her. Homework is done wkl.Only a midterm and final Test are primarly from lectures and most of the points on the midterm and final are essays.I really enjoyed her class..taker her....and have fun...
Hot! Good teacher but not the best. She has a good personality and isn't boring.
She is a great teacher! I was thoroughly interested by her lectures and she lets you know exactly what you need to remember for the tests. I loved her class!
Her notes on the board did not help me much when I was taking the test. The test style materials was not clear and the information was not enough. The book had no proper grammer because some of the words, and questions were too hard to define from the book. I was not the only one who had a hard time in her class. I am sure that other students were
attendance is key. take good lecture notes. study study study for midterm and final. yes you need to study a lot for the midterm/final because they are essay tests. not an easy A but if u want to learn womens history, TAKE LEE!
Professor Lee is my inspiration for what I want to do as a history professor, she is very clear and dynamic, provides excellent note-taking material. She provides a well-rounded view of American history without teaching a "victims' history." If you want to see your country's history from more than one perspective, take Lee.
Did not think i was going to like this class. She is very passionate about History, which makes her so AWESOME! Take her you will NOT regret it.
This class was a challenge for me but interesting though. She writes the plan of the lecture on the blackboard, and you should write the lecture in your notebook from her words according to this plan.Lots of writing assignments!that should be done on time. Each exam is 10 short essays(5 key term & 5 key figures) and 1 long essay(about 1.5 page long).
Prof. Lee is amazing! Fun, funny, helpful, and engaging. As I enter the credential program for teaching her style is one I hope to emulate. Only the primary source book is necessary, take GREAT notes and study well for exams by reviewing them. Must attend lectures (she takes attendance which later helps your grade), but the good news: she's HOT!
Professor Lee is a great teacher. She is very interested in the topic she teaches which makes her lectures interesting. She is a tough grader but as long as you take notes and study you will do fine. Her reading assignments are long but not difficult. Overall she is a great teacher and is very nice.
Very helpful notes style, makes things easy to read and understand. Text book was long and not interesting, but lecture was always good. Has a family medical issue, so she wasn't available all the time and didn't always respond to emails, but was helpful when you could get her attention. Essay tests were easy, study guides not helpful.Good prof.
Awsome teacher, I loved the class!
she really awesome. very clear at teaching. the book is soooooooooo boring but her lectures are very intersting. she loves history and you can tell she gets very excited about it. great teacher i loved her. and she sooooooo pretty!!!!!
Sara is such a great professor. She made me want to attend class because each lecture was both fun and informative. I pretty much never read the text book but the primary source book is a must. Great class! Take it!!
Professor Lee was of the hook, the class was very intersting & brought to life I hate History but I learned alot from her she was awesome!
Sara Lee is the best teacher!!!!! Her lectures are very interesting and she makes class fun. She is clear and helpful.
What an amazing woman! She was very knowledgeable in the subject, gave good hw asignments to help with the test, and it was just a fun class. Highly recommend to take her! :)
I Loved her! SHE made me love history again! every lecture was intresting never put me to sleep. You have to read the Primary source book alot, but it is really a good book.I WILL be takeing her class again but not in Spring 2012 she is haveing a baby..so im guessing she won't be there for most of it :(
great teacher. very passionate about what she teaches. come to class, take notes, and read read read. She is very helpful!
She does seem to know her history. It's just notes are really confusing because instead of laying it out for us, she talks the whole class period and expects us to know what to write.
Mrs. Lee is a nice teacher. She is super enthusiastic about the subject, (which I personally wasnt). Only B i got this semester, and all other A's. The whole grading system completely weighs on the midterm and final, so if your arent good at short essay tests, dont take her!
She's very passionate and enthusiastic about the subject, but it definitely isn't an easy class. The homework assigned in the Women in American History class was very intense and her exams are tough. Especially the midterm and final since they're essay answers and you really have to study your butt off and understand EVERYTHING.
She is really nice, and the whole class is lecture. Do not take her if you don't do well on in class timed essays! She gets kinda boring.I wouldn't have taken the class if I knew what she was like
she is a very diffucult teacher to understand and hard for you to keep up with her work. but if you can memorized her work than you will do good in the class
Nice teacher very informative lectures but she is extremely biased! She leaves out so much info but talks the remainder of the lectures filled with Women's history...That wouldn't be a problem except that I'm in her Amer History class. For example we talked about the Amer Revolution for like 2min but we went into 15min lecture about Abigail Adams
Only thing you do is take notes but the whole layout of her notes is just nonsensical. Normally history was an easy subject but I wasn't expecting this. Her class fulfilled 2 prereqs for me or else I would have dropped very early on. Sure she is passionate about the subject but that doesn't make her a better teacher by default.
Nice professor and history 310 was intresting.
Worst class I have ever taken in college. She treats college students as if they are in elementary school. Her notes are vague and don't help with her midterms or exams. She makes a big deal if you are 2 minutes late to class. She intentionally fails students she doesn't like. I do not recommend this class.
Dynamic lectures! BUT tests and exams have nothing to do with the them. You have to read the text yourself. Our class had a 39% average on the last exam because she didn't prepare us.
Fav teacher I've taken in college so far! had her husband as my english teacher in high school. they are both amazing and passionate about what they do! cant wait to take her native american class at csus!
She has very interesting lectures, but her tests are multiple guess which do not append to her lectures. The quiz questions are describing the importance of events in history. Pretty good teacher, but you do have to read. A lot!
Too many stories about her trips to other countries, hard grader when it comes to written essays (midterm/final), expects everyone to participate for discussion points but repetitively calls on the same people, and takes a long time to post grades. She's nice, but I personally felt like I wasted my time every time I came to class.
Professor Lee is super nice and is always available to help. Her class is interesting but you HAVE to read her books. The class requires a text book and a source book, which basically means you have to read both. You'll literally have to read the WHOLE book, even though it's an interesting book, it's hard to keep up with the reading. Hard Class
Mrs. Lee is awesome. She makes time fly by in classroom with her fun and lively lectures. She really knows her stuff and makes learning very enjoyable. You HAVE TO READ the books. Her quizzes are easy if you read, and the exams are a lot of essays based on both book and lecture. I don't like history but i loved her summer 330 class! i Recommend it!
She is very passionate about women's history and I loved her lectures. But it's true, her notes are not so helpful. JUST READ THE BOOKS. It's really not a hard class! The 2 exams are all essays and she's very particular about how they should be done, but still very passable. And hey, she allowed me to miss 5 classes before she dropped me!
Absolutely loved her class! Her lectures are wonderful and so interesting! Great class! You do have to read and be ready for discussion, have to participate and show up to class. Not a class for slackers who want an easy A without doing any work. You need to work hard in this class but it is so worth it! Suggest this class the everyone!
Prof. Lee is in a word, passionate. I hope you're interested in Indians and women, because that was the vast majority of my general history course's focus. Don't skip class, participate once in every discussion, and do even the slightest amount of test prep and a B is no problem. She's also hot, so theres that.
Prof Lee is very passionate about History, but is not very clear on her expectations. She gives out tests and just expects you to know what you are supposed to be studying. Granted we read the material, but when you have 25 key terms and figures and no clarity it gets confusing. I enjoyed her lectures, but would not recommend or take her class again
Midterm and Final are 5 short essays and 1 long essay all in 80 minutes. She wants you to read and memorize the significance of 50 key terms and figures and she will pick 10 out of the 50 for you to write 5 short essays on. She will also give you a couple long essay prompts for her to pick one out of. DO NOT TAKE. Save yourself. Feminist as well
Really amazing Professor! Very helpful and there for you! However her grading is a bit tough but the reading is not that much so its ok! She is really good at giving lectures and she does give only one extra credit! But it does make a change in your grade! Attending class and Participation are Mandatory! You can boost your grades if you do them!
Sara Lee is the worst professor I have ever had at ARC. She is the only professor I have struggled with because of her muddled expectations and foggy grading system. She never specifies whats going to be on the quizzes and the lectures are always behind so you're pretty much on your own when it comes to quizzes. Do not take her class.
1. No powerpoint. Notes on board with blanks you have to figure out 2. She is very opinionated, especially about gender and politics 3. She has a horrible and weird grading system. Sometimes she puts on the quiz that was not in the lecture. 4. Some/most of her lectures are not in your textbooks. Smh 5. I will never take her class ever again.
Don't take her !!!!
Prof. Lee's class was the first actual college level class I took when starting college. She is very passionate about history, the test are easy as long as you study, and for the mid term and final, you must write like a professional writer for the essays, she was a tough grader on the essays. I rarely studied but somehow passed. Participate a lot!
The worst professor. Notes on board with blanks. She's speeds through the notes. Reads her notes off paper. Quizzes are not what she lectured. Parks points if you don't speak. Don't take her. She will fail either way. She's the worst. She only cares about herself. Points you out and marks points off if you talk or ask partner questions.
She's the worst. No PowerPoint. Notes on board with blanks. She doesn't use book to lecture she makes it up with her own words. Quizzes are way off topic. Not what she lectured. She's unorganized. She doesn't let you speak, if you do she marks points off. Your screwed if you take her. Your life will be miserable if you take her. Don't take her!
I read reviews before I took history 311 and I was scared cause people said bad things about her but she is awesome. She is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about history. I have never really liked history but this semester, I really enjoyed it. I would love to take a class with her again. I love that she has traveled and tells us her storys
I took History class online and dropped it because I expected more interesting information then just reading letters of illiterate women. There is many interesting books about women history that can be used in this class but the book the professor chose is not interesting and hard to read. Quizzes have less time that questions in it.
This professor is a good example of irrationality embodied, for she does not understand what simple common-place terms mean in the real world, she only understands what those words mean from her perspective, and refuses to use any sort of fluid intelligence to understand a formal definition, even if used in an academic paper.

do not take her class.
Bad class, do not take.
Very interesting, non-traditional history class. There was a TON of assignments to complete in my class, but that could just be because I took the accelerated summer course. In hindsight, I should have taken this class over the course of 16 weeks and not 8 weeks.
A perfect class if you wish to learn very little apart from personal opinion on political matters not relevant in a classroom environment.
Seems like she slacks majorly for her online classes. There are just a few assignments so theres not much opportunity to increase your grade. Her power points are just long descriptions of whats already in the book. She gives you ridiculously timed quizzes, less than a minutes per question. Just horrible. Never again. I hate history even more!
Honestly, I did not care for her class, she started out the semester very rude to her students. Ms. Lee constantly pointed out that she would never allow makeup homework or quizzes, but gave us a million excuses on why she could not grade timely. Her discussion boards are 10 + questions and you only have one attempt to complete a quiz.
Professor Lee loves to engage with her students, however I think one very important factor every student should consider is that her quiz times are not practical. She gives 35 minutes for a 40 question test. 15 minutes for 25 question test. 20 minutes for 23 minute tests. Discussion are grades for toughly. Interacts and compensates very well.
Even though this class was hard, the professor's teaching style actually made me learn a lot about the subject. I think that some people might not like her because of the amount of work you need to put into this class, but I believe that this is the very reason why I was able to learn so much.
Did this in a six week class. Lots of material. Recommend a full semester for her class. Text book published in 1997 and was not quite up to date. Primary source published in 2011. Heavy reading. Pay attention to formatting on discussions. Test times short but if you know the material, you will pass. Absolutely must study for this class.
Probably the most boring class I've ever taken and she doesn't help. She expects essay length responses to simple questions. I wish I would have looked at all of the ratings and responses on here before signing up for the class. She requires a large sum of reading from the textbooks and then adds her lectures on top of it which ends up being vague.
This is HISTORY. She think any students know history as she knows. This is very terrible class. 1 min for one question it is very HARD to answer the quiz, even I love history, and I learned all chapters. I've taken history class before and the teacher appreciate me for my hard job and learning but this one.....
Here's the thing, this is a history class, not an English class. Ms. Lee here thinks that everything has to be perfect and that's ignoring the fact that she has many flaws herself. I have done more writing and reading in her history class than in my English class. Avoid this class by all means, careless teacher.
She thinks this is an English class. Please stay away from her as much as possible because you will waste your time trying to write an essay answer to 14 questions. History is so much accessible, but she makes it so hard. I warned you!
I think she had a mental illness, her dad thought her something about history. This is not history, this is just a fake of history, respect all professors at ARC but not her. Dear students, DO NOT TAKE HER if you really want a good grade in college. She is a cobra and will ruin your grades in college.
Consider taking this course from a different professor. Lee has unreasonable expectations for each assignment that have nothing to do with the course content and your grade depends on jumping through many hoops, not on the actual subject matter. Clearly, there is a serious control issue going on and the administration needs to look into it.
I didn't want to believe everyone when they said she thinks this is an English class, but low and behold...GET READY TO READ AND WRITE more than any other class! You'll be spending SO MUCH time in discussions that have over 20 parts to it. Overall, just so glad it's over, I unfortunately NEVER want to open another history book. Thankful it's over!!
A very rude professor
She definitely throws you in the deep end. There are very few assignments but they matter A LOT, and one mediocre assignment tanks you for weeks.
Nice prof, but since there are few assignments, they weigh a lot.
You're going to need to read a lot to answer the discussion post, the multiple choice questions quizzes can be tough if you don't read. She isn't a horrible professor but she does grade very harsh and it feels like it's a english class so be prepared to write a lot with very tough grading and long hours to finish,I would say to do your work earlier
The professor does not update her course weekly. Sometimes, we wouldn't have any work for two weeks in a row. She has very high expectations for the discussion posts, and it is difficult to earn a good grade on them. The instructions for those are not clearly written either. However, she did offer extra credit.
This class was very informative, and I learned a lot about various historical topics. She is a tough grader and gives lots of feedback as to why you did not receive full credit for a specific assignment. Be sure to use the calendar tool in Canvas. There are not many assignments to help make up for missed points.
Discussion posts were a lot of points, but the quizzes were easy
She had very few actual assignments however she would grade them harshly. So if you were to make a mistake or do poorly you were at a disadvantage.
Don't listen to the negative review at least for her summer classes. I took the woman's history 6 weeks. BUY THE TEXTBOOK you will need it. I loved her class it was very easy, and she gives a good study guide for tests. It really was better than I expected. Look at the study guide and slides before reading the textbook. Reasonable summer class.
Get the textbook you will need it. The online summer class was great, and I really enjoyed it. Some of y'all just don't use your brains in the discussion boards. She gives study guides for everything, and they help a lot. Everything was pretty easy just worth a lot of points. I learned a lot. Take the class.
0/5!! She expects a lot from a simple DQ. 3-5 sentence answers per question for a history class are absurd (it totaled up to 15 paragraphs). A tough grader, she expects you to also have a BA in English, apparently. You can do everything right and still get docked so many points. Tests are easy though; just read the book.
This professor is not the ideal professor to have someone teach. She is strict on late assignments no matter what the cause is and I mean no matter the cause. If you do end up taking this class I am praying for you and your college experience.
