If you don't hold to her Marxist-feminist view, you're toast
No Comments
Not a bad professor, she will challenge you to think and you won't be able to play around in her class but you will learn something new.
Do not take this woman, she has a negative reputation among students as being evil and it is deserved.
she has unreasonable expectations
she is pure essays. she wants you to fail. if anyone does get an A(never a 100%), she holds it up because it is a miracle. she is unreasonable, and doesn't help you at understand her expectations at all
The worst professor at CMSU. The epitimy of evil.
horrible teacher. almost everyone got C's or lower on her tests. she says to study the notes and you will be fine but everyone fails. she grades the essays easily but her tests count more and nobody does well on them. i strongly encourage you NOT to take her. If you must, go to state fair
DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER!!!!!! SATAN IN A CLASS ROOM!!!
liked her a lot
Sure she looks hot, but her voice is irritating and she is very condescending. It is better to not say anything in class because she will rip you apart for giving an opinion. Seems to think her students are plagiaristic morons that don't know what a run-on sentence or a dangling participle is.
Unreasonable expectations, first time I've seen biased grading on a multiple choice question. Don't bother getting the textbook, her notes contradict it anyway. No clear grading scale...essays worth 37.4%...of what?
She was very confusing and tried to cover too much material. She took everything way too far in depth. Do not take this professor. I think I failed every single one of her exams.
Her tests did not cover anything she spoke of and she was kind of rude when any questions were asked. She makes it seem that your questions are stupid. When asked to make an appointment with her, she made it seem you weren't worth her time.
She is a horrible professor. Her tests do not cover the material that she talks about in class or in the book. She assigns books to read for essays, and she grades the essays harshly. I'm an A average student and I'm getting a D in the class!
Umm yea what everyone else up there said... take Richardson, she was awesome!
DONT!!!! EVER take her. our class average for te first test was "F" and so on for her other tests. she dont give any study guide b4 test or dont even go over the test. her test is the hardest and dont relate what she teach in the class. she go very fats...... I dont know why I took her
Terrible lecturer, makes it very difficult to follow her train of thought or her notes (or perhaps the LACK there of). No clear expectations or grading scale. She needs to take a couple of education and public speaking classes. Take someone else if you can!
DON'T GET IN HER CLASS!!!!!!!!!! She is horrible!! The topics she speaks about has nothing to do with the super long and hard exams. She picks on people in class to answer questions that no one would know but her and makes you feel really dumb. I HIGHLY suggest to NOT get in her class!!!
Gives multiple choice exams with four correct answers, but only one is the "most correct" and the only acceptable answer. Exams also have pretty much NO relation to what she talks about in class. Really snotty and rude if you ask a question or for help.
Her lectures are horrible. You cant understand a thing because she follows no order and goes way to fast for you to write things down. When you have a question or a comment she gets annoyed and makes you feel horrible. If you can help it dont have her for a teacher.
her tests suck a lot!!!
tHE CLASS WAS REALLY WORK INTENSIVE AND THE PROFESSOR WAS COLD AND NOT NICE AT ALL.
I believe that was the class, but who cares, b/c NONE of her classes are worth taking. Her teaching is useless. If you don't wanna learn anything and wanna struggle to make a "C" that she might be nice enough to give you, go ahead and take her!
You'd think a class dealing with the revolution, the early republic, and the men responsible for those heady changes would be exciting. Wrong, not with this woman whats a 17.4. The oddest grading system ever, almost nothing was taught, and it was a complete waste of time. This woman should not be teaching. She's the only B I've had in history
This was the worst class I have ever taken in my Life. She is the worst teacher that I have had at CMSU. Unless you know as much as her do not take class cause you will not learn a thing.
AWFUL TEACHER!!! She brought a cd to class, put in in the cd player and starter hitting play on the TAPE DECK for 5 minutes! She never uses power point because she doesn't know how and she can barely work the overhead! How this woman got a Doctorate is beyond my comprehension. DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER!
This is one of the worst teachers on campus. I am a history major, and this class was dumb. At first i was excited, then I took her test. Stupid! Her test are unneccesarrily hard. I've talked to her several times, and none of it helped, and he books you have to read a ridiculous. AHHHHHH!
This is the worst teacher i have ever had. Her class and her tests dont match up and there are little details for her test questions that we never had even talked about, and if you ask her a question, she just rewords it and doesnt even answer it. She's horrible.
I went in to meet this woman at least 4 times last semester. Each time she would tell me that my grade would be ok. Once I sat in the History office waiting for over an hour and a half only to have her tell me she was too busy to see me. That came after I talked to her in class and she said that she would be able to talk to me that afternoon. crap.
Horrible... She expected you to know literally hundreds of pages from the text, and everything from her lectures (which by the way were NOT anything from the book) NEVER TAKE HER!!! One of my 2 B's since I've been here at CMSU.
She doesn't help with ANYTHING
Eh. She's not only grumpy, but unhelpful too. She gives these ridiculous map tests that you can't study for. Her tests aren't worth many points, but she has you read hundreds of pages and write tons of notes to take the tests (and they're hard). I love history, but this woman needs some social/teaching skills if she's going to continue teaching!
I had the unfortunate luck of being stuck with her 2 consecutive semesters. Both times they were miserable. The second time on the day of the final I was told I would have to re-do my research paper or fail, I go to find out when she wanted it and she had left for the year! I hate this woman with a passion!
I had her for history. She spent a whole week talking about how a colonial town was built and situated and only one day if that on the entire revolutionary war. Besides that, she is **** and will not admit to mistakes that she has made unless you force her. Avoid her at all costs.
NOTHING ON THE TEST REFLECTS ANY OF THE NOTES!!!
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! She is horrid! If someone is brave enough to ask a question she will not answer it, just reword it and move on to something else. She does not give a study guide, instead tells you to read your notes which hardly cover the topics! Again, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!!!
HARD class. She lectures all day every day, spending little time on wars, and more on less significant parts of history. The tests are incredibly hard and seem to have trick questions. Also, map quizzes are given and you're told to study all maps in a chapter.. so you don't know what's going to be on the quiz. Nice teacher, but HARD CLASS for gen ed.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!
I really could not understand what on earth to study for for her tests. All she does is teach random facts and the things that interest her. I just took a test on the war of 1812, and there was a question about the 1840s! We haven't even hit the 1820s yet! I would recommend that you use absolutely try for another teacher before her!
I'd rather get malaria. She covered an insane amount of material in the time provided (with no real time management skills), adhered to rockhard standards, and basically almost anything else that you can read here. Avoid unless completely necessary. It's for your own good.
I wanted to drop kick her out of the class, that would make me feel so good. Class is awful. She can not teach. Her tests suck. She talks about nothing relevant. In fact she teaches facts that are not true, she only teaches what she finds interesting and for the most part she is wrong.
the worst teacher ever
OMG this class is absolutely terrbile. I'm a straight A student and i really struggled with these tests, this class is WAY too hard for a gen ed class, and the amount of notes that you take is astronomical, and they help you none for the tests.... Avoid her at all costs
Although many think she was a horrible teacher, I thought she wasnt bad. I had her for Colonial Am. Hist. It was an interesting topic, yet many times she didnt make it interesting. She does tend to hit & miss on what she likes to teach, but we did a mock trial that turned out great!! She really got into it and that helped get us into it too!
Sundberg wasn't that organized when lecturing. All my notes were scattered and somewhat hard to study. This class was hard for a gen ed. I am a straight A student... I went to every class, studied, and got a C.
She's outstanding. Her office door is always open (except at night, I suppose) for questions or discussion. Go to class, participate, read the assignments, take notes and you'll do well.
Horrible teacher... I wish I could go on a rampage but theres not enough room do not take her
I cannot stand this teacher. Please do not take her if you can help it. There are other professors who teach this class that actually know what they are doing. This teacher doesnt even use an outline and she just rambles on about her OPINION of history.. And her tests arent even what she went over in her notes... good luck
Terrible, If you are signing up for classes and she is your teacher, SWITCH or take another history class. Unless you already have a complete understand of what she teaches you will not get an A. You'll struggle for a B, and probably wind up with a C or lower. Poor lecture and poor test. Do not, I repeat do not, take her!
If you don't know or like history don't take her. Her method of note taking is she will say everything to you in class and that is it. She wont even answer emails.
DO NOT TAKE HER. She does not teach very well. Her tests are all trick questions meant to deceive you. Alot of the time the things that are on the test she did not discuss at all or just in passing during class. She also has no sense of time during lecture for she will go forward 30 years and backward 50 and expect you to know the order of even
Sundberg is a nice person, but as a teacher she is terrible. She wont give a study guide or review in class, I approached her and she said my notes were my study guide. This is an entry level gen ed class that was wayy to hard. And there is only like 250 total points in the class so if you do bad on the first test or two youll get a bad grade AVOID
This teacher doesnt realize that most kids are taking this class because they need it for a GE. She is unrealistic in her expectations for the test. I dont expect to breeze through the class but she made me want to walk out everytime i took a test. i hate her!!!!!!!
This class is extremely hard for non-history majors. I had to study for at least a week before the test and still couldn't get better than a C. She's easy to get ahold of, but doesn't seem to care if you fail. I ended up with a D in the class even after working as hard as i did.
just dont take her class. worst teacher I have yet to have.
DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS! Dr. Sunberg is very knowledgeable in the area she teaches, as well as enthusiastic. However, what she lacks is organization during her lectures. This makes it IMPOSSIBLE to take notes in a course that is completely based on lecture alone. Your brain scrambles to take notes that are make any sense later on! TRUST ME!
Very Boring, and inconsistent in grading, hard to know what she wants, and extensive amounts of reading.
she is very boring and has no sympathy for a bad grade even if you did try hard. She scrambles and makes the tests hard, bad lectures.!!!
In all of my years of schooling from preschool on, worst teacher I've ever had. Comes to class with her lecture violently unprepared. Impossible to know what to write down. When I bump into classmates, it goes like this: me- "aren't you in my history class?" them- "yeah. Isn't she awful?!" she stops class to yell at people if they leave early.
Very intelligent person. Worst professor I've ever taken. If you can take it with someone else do it. If not, prepare uranus.
This is an excerpt from my evaluation: "During the class period,I began to take a tally of how often filler words such as "uh" or um were used. Often this tally came to over 300 in a single class period. Also noted an obvious disdain when students were unable to answer a question due to poor lecturing on the part of the professor."
Dr. Sundburg was very helpful. It was not a difficult course if you did the work.
I really liked her and she was helpful but she pushes the communist and feminist line relentlessly. Disagree at your own peril.
Notes in this class are the hardest I have ever had to take. No computers allowed, no real information posted to blackboard, and no study guides. Just strap in and try to write down as much as you can pull out of her incoherence. I can almost guarantee that there will be information on the tests that you will say was never heard in class.
The class is all based on her lectures. Take notes and lots of them because her lectures are really the only help you will get. She does not make study guides and the powerpoints she posts to blackboard are vague and usually not the ones she used in class.
In all my years of school I have never had such a tough class. There are no power points to really go off of just a picture on a slide and you have to try to keep up with everything she is saying which is hard because her lectures are all over the place and not clear at all on what to note. It's mostly based on tests and I would drop immediately.
Her lectures are absolutely terrible and she is very hard to keep track of with talking. No power points or study guides to help, you honestly have to teach yourself. Worst class and professor I have ever had/taken, if you have this class seriously drop immediately it does not get better and you will leave everyday not learning one thing.
She gives random quizzes for participation on random days, shows you actually came to class. Tests are really difficult. Usually one test covers 4-5 chapters of info. Only three other assignments outside of tests and participation to get your grade where you want it. Power points: definitely take notes. She says a lot of info outside of the book
This was the most difficult class I've ever taken, including high school. She doesn't have any notes on the board, no study guides on blackboard, and hardly any homework to test your knowledge or supplement your grade. You have to write down everything she says during class from her boring and hard-to-follow lectures. WORST HISTORY CLASS I EVER HAD
Easily one of the worst teachers I've ever had. Does noting but lectures, and poorly at that. Puts slideshows up on blackboard but they are just a picture and a single word per slide. If she taught as much as she stopped to talk about phones, maybe I would have learned more.
WORST History Professor I have ever had! The only thing on her presentations is a picture and few words. Other than that you basically have to write down everything she says. No study guides are given for the tests. She always complains about students using cell phones in class. If she made the lectures interesting, more people would pay attention.
2 tests, one small paper and a final. That's all what the class was. And every test covered a BUNCH of material. So if you fail one test, you're screwed. One of if not the worst professor I have ever had.
AVOID HER CLASS!!! I'm a Social Studies Education major and excel in history classes, but Dr. Sundberg has ruined an introduction history class. Stops in the middle of her lecture to chase students down the hall if they leave class. Her powerpoints are awful, just a picture and a few words, sometimes just a picture. Tests don't relate to lectures.
Just show up to class and pay attention. Take good notes and study. As long as you dont slack you will pass. The only downfall is theres only a few grades in for the entire semester which is kind of a bummer but like I said just pay attention and dont slack.
Sundberg 's class is based off of 2 exams, 2 incredibly small (point-value wise) papers, and the final. Your notes are supposed to be your study guides, however it's hard to make a study guide over 2 months of material. She also tends to go off on tangents, and you can't tell if it is relevant to the test or if she is just talking. DON'T TAKE HER.
Dr. Sundberg is a great instructor - extremely knowledgeable and goes out of her way to pass on that knowledge. She is lecture-heavy, but in her Rev. & Rep. class, you will play a reenactment 'game' to really understand the conditions of the time. Great teacher, several papers but the due dates for all assignments and tests are spread out evenly.
Honestly I'm struggling so much. I don't think I have ever had such a ridiculously difficult time in a class. She jumps all over the place in her lectures and doesn't talk about the important stuff. The tests have things that we haven't talked about and she doesn't give us a study guide. I'm considering dropping the class because it's not worth it.
Dr. Sundberg is an amazing professor. If you come in thinking it will be an easy A, you will not succeed. Her lectures have brief powerpoints and rely heavily on her speaking. If you do the reading, pay attention during lectures, and ask her questions when you need help, you will succeed. I have loved every class and interaction I have had with her
This class is NOT worth your time. She does NOT prepare students for her exams. She does NOT have a clear outline of what could be on the test. She does NOT provide a study guide. She does NOT provide the tools needed to suceed in her class.
Dr. Sundberg has made history amazing all over again! This is not a class where you can fly by the seat of your pants. You will require to pay attention and write excellent notes. The lectures and powerpoints are what you will use for a study guides. If you get into trouble or you are struggling she will make a strong effort to work with you.
This is the worst history class that anyone could take. She lectures on and on about everything, spending a good amount of time on things that do not matter. there is a total of 2 tests and one 7 point paper. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS
Nothing but dry lectures. Slides used to present had irrelevant or no content. Exams and two small writing assignments make up your grade. Take copious notes if you want to pass and always attend.
This class is not impossible to pass, however it is very hard to get a high grade.
This class has very dry lectures with only pictures as a presentation. You can tell she loves history but she does not do a very good job at teaching it. Hard grader and VERY confusing exams.
I SLAVED for my A, I spent AT LEAST 10 hours studying collectively within the weeks leading up to her exams. If you have a death wish, take her class- that's really all there is to say.
If you're behind on sleep, worry no more. Professor Sundberg's voice and long lecture's will sooth you right to sleep. I would recommend bringing a pillow and comfortable clothes to enhance your sleeping experience.
I thought I would be fine taking this class because i enjoyed History. Now it is officially the most I've struggled in a class. Normally it is straight lectures with a slide show showing only supporting images. No phones or she will stop class as well. Be aware, I've heard the other professor teaching this class is way better.
God awful. I took US history up to 1887 with her and I had a really really hard time. Nice lady but her teaching style is incredibly outdated. Almost everyone I knew in the class was doing badly. Im an A+ student, I sat in the front row, I took notes, I never missed a class, I studied for hours, I met with her many times. Shes just a bad teacher.
While she seems very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about history, this was by far the worst class I have ever taken. Do NOT take this class online. She reuses old lectures and writes up homework which may cover topics she has yet to even lecture on.
