This class was pretty good and the professor is really good. I took her for microecon and we had a midterm which was alright and we have weekly homeworks and a paper due every 2-3 weeks which is very easy. There arent any tests or quizzes. Its just homeworks, the writing assignments, and midterms and final.
Awful teacher, disregard that 4.0 rating. Boring lectures simply isn't good at teaching and assigns a paper once a week. Papers are light but are a pain, she has two midterms that are tough, and having her for a bomb class is unbearable. Most monotone professor I've had, and she lectures for the entire class. Avoid at all costs.
She is very caring and very reachable outside of class, knows exactly what she is talking about, is fairly monotone in class-long lectures, no unnecessary work, writing assignments are 2 page summaries seemingly graded for understanding, if u come ready to genuinely try you'll do well and come out with a very solid understanding of micro
Econ is a hard class in general. Prof Sara is a very nice person and accessible out of class, but her class isn't easy. Lectures are OK, not great. Tests are very difficult. Class avg for Midterm 1 was about 75 which she considered "good". HWs aren't bad, papers are easy but annoying. There are worse profs but there are also much better.
Decent amount of homework with like three writing assignments that arent too hard. Tests are extremely hard and class average is always terrible. DO NOT TAKE HER NIGHT BOMB. She means well, but soooo boring, not engaging, and the accent is sometimes a bit thick. Tests are long scantrons. Definitely better professors to take.
Professor doesn't understand that the material on the exam is way harder than what we learn. Lectures for 3 hours straight, 10 minute break, but somehow manages to talk for 3 hours STRAIGHT. Exams take up half the class, and then the other half is another hour and a half of babbling. Expects students to know everything.
Absolutely terrible professor. Do not believe any ratings that tell you otherwise. If you agree with the idea of a good grade requiring 100% effort inside and outside of class, then this is the class for you. Class average is terrible and the exams are extremely difficult.
She provides excellent office hours and cares about students' academic progress. Extra credit is available for practice tests.
Not the best not the worst
She isn't the most interesting lecturer, but if you put the effort in, it's not too difficult.
Honestly she is a good professor if you pay attention constantly. When she gives extra credit, she gives the entire class the opportunity to receive it. She is fair. You could have a way worse professor, and honestly she is a nice person. The only thing is her accent takes time to adjust to, but otherwise she isn't bad. Fair, could do worse.
If you pay attention and do your work, you'll pass with flying colors. She is enthusiastic about the material and will help you if you need it. She gives pop quizzes, but it doesn't matter how you do on them because the points are only for extra credit. Just a warning, if you take the night bomb, you will be there until 9:10.
Among my favorite professors. She has excellent office hours and genuinely cares about the students.
Great Professor that genuinely cares about you and for you and she is very accessible outside of class and is willing to help you. There are no tests or quizzes, however, there are papers/weekly homework and two midterms, and one final.
She helps out a lot and is very accessible outside of class. You will have weekly homework that is somewhat easy and she gives two midterms that are 50 questions each and both 15-20 percent of your grade, and she gives a final which is 25 percent of your grade. The lectures get boring but try to pay attention or you will do bad on the exams.
The course and midterms were not easy, but the practice tests were very useful. She has very good office hours that were extended for exam weeks. Homework and writing assignments were easy. So far, I'm happy with my grade, but it took lots of work.
Her office hours are good, but I had to wait 45 minutes in line just to speak with her for 20 minutes. The lectures are very long. DO NOT TAKE HER NIGHT BOMB.
If you want to LEARN and get what you PAY for, you'll take her, especially if you're an econ major like me. AWESOME PROFESSOR! she challenges her students, I LOVE it.
Amazing Professor who really cares about her students doing well in her class. She will help you a lot during office hours. The only bad thing about her class is that she gives 2 MIDTERMS(like who does that) and a final. THOSE 3 EXAMS MAKE UP 65% of your grade which is absolutely crazy. There's weekly homework and 5 essays to write.
Really sweet professor, however, her grading method is crazy. If you pay attention and do the homework you're guaranteed at least a B-, but there are 3 exams(two midterms, and one final) and they make up like 60 percent of your grade. So good luck and the midterms are like 2-3 weeks apart.
Material is manageable if you take thorough notes and study moderately. Lots of small papers and two midterms which can make or break your grade. She has an accent but she's not hard to understand. Really cares about her students.
She is not a bad teacher but it is super hard to pay attention in her class because she is not good at lecturing, not engaging and just super boring. She also assigns a good amount of work, home works every week along with writing assignments which are two page essays, 2 midterms and the final are 60% of your grade and the tests are super hard.
straightforward lectures straight out of the book, not much homework at all, as long as you take notes and study exams are no problem, willing to help out during office hours, solid professor
she is a really good lecturer and is very clear when explaining concepts. she is always willing to help outside of class. if you study you will do well on the midterms. love her
She truly cares about her students and their success. Throughout the course, she provided numerous opportunities for extra help and was always willing to answer questions and provide feedback on assignments. Her lectures were easy to follow.
Thanks to her teaching, I gained a deeper understanding of economics and feel well-prepared for future coursework.
She was alright, pretty dull and boring lectures. Most of your grade is from 2 midterms (20% each) and the final (25%) Gives extra credit too
She was such a great professor. She is very caring and open to change and makes sure to be available outside of class. Her class is very lecture heavy but she allows questions. The majority of the class is graded on 2 midterms and the finals but there is also homework, writing assignments that are so easy, and participation. Take her!
Her night classes lasts a full 2 hours and 40 minutes, and it's 2 hours and 40 minutes of pure LECTURING. But she seems nice.
She takes the time to get to know each student and their individual learning needs. Her approachability and willingness to provide extra help make her stand out. I never felt hesitant to ask questions or seek clarification; she always welcomed inquiries and was patient in her explanations.
She genuinely cares about her students success and goes above and beyond to support them. She's approachable, always willing to answer questions, and takes the time to provide additional help if needed. She's also very responsive to emails.
She's the real deal - super caring.. She breaks down all those complicated ideas so even I can get it, her office hours rock! Seriously, she's there when you need her. Her assignments and tests are fair, and she gives you the lowdown on what you need to do to ace 'em.
The midterm was a mix of everything we've covered so far. It wasn't a walk in the park, but it also wasn't crazy hard. You could tell she put effort into making sure it covered the important stuff we've been learning. It was a fair shot for us to show what we've picked up.
She is really caring and organized. Her office hours are very good.
Professor Taghvatalab is a very challenging professor. I often have to teach myself the material after each lesson to complete the homework. For homework she gives one check my work and three attempts taking lots of time and energy. Although she cares a lot about students and feedback, she misses key points while lecturing.
She is very kind and considerate. Her office hours are excellent and very helpful, but you will have to wait a long time because they are very busy. There isn't much space for error because your grade is determined by your homework and tests. She is not a lousy instructor in general.
Great professor. Sarah has a very good understanding of international students.
Class is brutal, and the lectures are hard to sit through. 2 midterms and 1 final are 65% of your final grade; tests are also pretty difficult; and she takes points off if the work isn't shown to her liking. She also has a relatively strong accent, which makes her hard to understand sometimes. She is super nice, just a super tough intro class.
Beyond her academic expertise, she is a truly kind and approachable person. Her friendly demeanor makes students feel comfortable seeking help or asking questions, contributing to a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere.
She is a nice person, but I would not call her a good professor. She misses key points while lecturing so you will likely need to teach yourself the content. Is not very accommodating, i asked her if she could make a study guide for the exam because I needed more resources to study and she simply said no and it was not open for discussion
Her high level of approachability and willingness to help clarify any confusion greatly contributed to my understanding of the material. Her availability during office hours and responsiveness to emails were appreciated.
Course organization on point! No getting lost in the stats jungle with her. Always there to help out, whether it's in class or over email. Super approachable!
Would not recommend it. Take anyone else.
You can tell she really cares about her students. She breaks down those tough econ concepts like a pro. But her lectures can get heavy. You have to really pay attention to keep up.
She is a very nice professor. She also gives extra credit. I didn't learn much in her class though. I found both of our midterms challenging. Would not take again.
She is a clear and effective professor. While she teaches continuously until the end of the class without breaks, her teaching methods and content are well-strategized. She provides practice questions for each chapter, which help in preparing for midterms and finals. You'll also love her BRIGHT greetings in the same tone xD!
Yes the class is lecture heavy but she explains econ concepts very simply for students to understand. A lot of students complain about her exams being challenging, however, if you put in the time and effort to study you will do just fine. She offers up to 3.5 points of extra credit towards your final grade. Highly recommend professor Taghvatalab.
I wanna start by saying I am not an academic weapon. but when I couldn't grasp concepts and went to her office hours she was very passive aggressive. although she does give a lot of extra credit opportunities I didn't enjoy her teaching. She would give us problems to do and a minute after handing it to us she would ask if we were done..
Yea shes very nice, not good at explaining things and doesn't cut you any slack. If you ask her questions shell bounce the question back to you. Would rather anyone else!
She is accessible outside the class. Her office hours are really good, and she extends them during the exam week, which is helpful. The class is lecture heavy but manageable.
Worst professor I've ever experienced during my period at Bentley. She very cordial and all - but in reality, she is very lecture heavy; limited collaboration, and her grading criteria is absolutely ridiculous. If you are fulfilling your EC111 requirement, guess what, go somewhere else.
Her teaching style is not very interesting but she tries her best to explain concepts as clear as possible. It wasn't an easy A. It is absolutely necessary to work hard to get a good grade.
She is incredibly caring and always makes herself available during office hours, which is fantastic for extra help or discussing coursework. Although her class is lecture-heavy, she provides extra credit opportunities, which is a thoughtful touch. Overall, she is a very nice professor who creates a supportive and welcoming classroom atmosphere.
All lectures. Two main exams and a final. A few options for extra credit, which I liked a lot. Definitely will have to study or try for the exams, but she's super sweet and cares about her students a lot. You learn a lot in the class.
Only grade for me that wasn't an A this semester. As a person she is amazing, caring, and nice. Unfortunately the topic she teaches doesn't share that with her. If you struggle at any math related subject like I do, you will find her lectures very lengthy and confusing. Has extra credit and use the practice exams to study, then you will be fine.
Her office hours are super helpful, and she's always available to answer any questions. You can tell she really cares about her students' success and makes sure everyone understands the material. Definitely recommend taking her class!"
One of the worst professors at Bentley. Stay away from any class with her. Very difficult grader and her tests are far different than the lectures.
She's really kind and always takes the time to help when you need it. She explains things in a way that's easy to understand and makes sure everyone's on the same page. Plus, she's super approachable and genuinely cares about her students
Great professor, but class is very boring. Teaches the material well, it's not hard to do well in the class, and she gives extra credit.
Seems like a good person but would not take this class because of the poor teaching ability. She is not a horrible teacher but also not a great one. A few graded writing assignments, weekly mindtap assignments, 2 midterms and a final. Lectures are long and hard to follow. Honestly better off learning by yourself.
Prof. T is a good teacher who can explain key concepts well. She does go a little fast and it is easy to get lost, but she'll explain it to you if you ask. Tests can be tough, but she provides many study resources. She posts homework often, but MindTap gives 3 tries and her other grading is lenient. She is very lecture heavy, but I would recommend.
Not an awful teacher but definitely not a good one. If you put in the work you can get a decent grade, but can definitely be confusing at times.
She is really caring and a good teacher. Her office hours are useful but usually too busy. The tests could be less tough, but her study guides can come in handy.
She tries to be accessible to students when tests come up which is good but her accent is really heavy so I was not able to understand a single word that came out of her mouth the whole semester. She also does not record lectures, so you only have the slides to look back on if you miss any class. Two midterms and final was worth 70% of your grade.
she is awesome and really cares about her students. Just a heads-up, though: her tests can be pretty tough, so don't slack off!
Professor T. is really caring and goes out of her way to help students. She even extends her office hours before tests and offers some extra credit opportunities, which are super helpful.
Very nice and caring professor. Gave 3 extra credit opportunities for up to 3.5 points added to final grade. Added 3% to final exam grade for class participation. 2 tests 1 final. Homework can be tough. 4 2 page article summaries graded for completion. 65% of the grade is based on the 3 exams the other 35% is 25% hw and 10% article review.
Ngl. The rating she has aren't accurate. I really loved her lectures, passionate about the class, it was reflect in our overall performance. Lots of extra credit offered, super nice at office hours, she's very approachable. Take her!
Stay clear of Professor Taghvatalab for EC111. Classes are very lecture-heavy, where she drones on for an hour and a half about the slides on the board. She will hand out in-class problems but does not explain them well, nor does she have the ability to teach well. She is a very tough grader and her tests are extremely difficult. Stay clear of her.
Her office hours are the best.
The worst professor I have had at Bentley so far. Very hard tests and her lectures are so boring you will fall asleep. Not the easiest to understand, and your grade relies on tests.
She's super organized and genuinely cares about her students. What really stands out is how accessible she is outside of class—always ready to answer questions or offer help.
I somehow like her class. She extends her office hours during exam times, making herself available to answer questions and clarify concepts. She also offers extra credit opportunities.
Really good and helpful professor.
Great professor if you want to learn, although she does go a little fast sometimes. Very accessible outside of class for office hours, very generous with her time in general.
While the class is very lecture heavy, she does give plenty and extended office hours for help. She is very nice and will slow down if the class needs it. Pay attention, take notes, and study and you will do good in micro
Not good at explaining the topic and her tests are nothing like what you study for. Take another professor.
She has the best office hours and she is really caring.
Professor Sara was my favorite professor of the semester. She cares heavily about her students and takes pride in her office hours. Her class is lecture heavy but not too many assignments.
Professor Sara moves quickly with her class. She lectures with slides and writes on the chalkboard. She cares a lot about her students and her class. During office hours she'd ask for feedback to make the class better and extended her office hours during the exam period.
She is super knowledgeable and passionate about economics. Lectures are clear and well-organized, and they do a great job explaining tough concepts in a simple way. Attendance isn't mandatory, but going to class definitely helps you keep up.
Exams are fair if you keep up with the material and review. Not the easiest class, but definitely manageable.
Avoid like the plague!! Worst professor I have had at Bentley so far. Horrible at explaining the course topics, does not help with homework questions, and the tests are crazy hard. DO NOT TAKE!!!!!!!!
EC111 with her was genuinely one of the strongest intro econ experiences I've had. She explains concepts clearly and always ties them back to real-world examples, which makes the material so much easier to understand. Her lectures are well-organized, and she posts helpful study materials that actually prepare you for the exams.
She's patient, responsive, and really seems to care about whether students grasp the basics before moving on. If you put in the effort, you'll definitely succeed. Highly recommend taking EC111 with her.
She is honestly such a great professor for EC111! Super kind, super approachable, and makes econ way less intimidating. She explains things in a simple, down-to-earth way and never makes you feel bad for asking questions.
Her office hours are incredibly helpful — she takes the time to walk through concepts step-by-step and makes sure you leave understanding the material.
You can tell she truly wants her students to succeed. She'll work with you, answer questions, and make sure you're on the right track. Honestly one of the most supportive professors I've ever had.
Very kind and has what is honestly a phenomenal understanding of economics. Go to her office hours, she can move/talk somewhat quickly in class but if you are confused with anything she will not hesitate to dive in and try and explain things. Once again she's very kind and understanding, will give extensions.
The class includes 2 midterms, a final, writing assignments, and MindTap homework. The material is not too difficult, but the instructor, Sara, is sometimes annoying. She delays posting chapter notes until after the chapter is finished. Since she moves too fast, if you miss her writing on the slides, you cannot review the notes until later.
Material isn't very hard, and prof is extremely knowledgeable. She uses real world examples to teach economics which I found very helpful. Class can be a bit boring because it's all lecture, but I feel that's just the course itself. Just pay attention because she can be a bit fast, but she's happy to re-explain if you js raise your hand and ask her
She is so nice, and even when she says no to extensions, just tell her your situation, and you're set. Quizzes and tests are super easy. Pay attention and do the Cengage and easy A. She is also very helpful and offers many office hours.
gave extra credit for showing up on the class before Thanksgiving break
Professor T. Has great office hours and she really caring and accessible.
Great teacher, but extremely lecture-heavy. Her teaching is great, and you will learn, but you'll get bored eventually.
