See Sarabeth Crowley! She got married and changed her last name. Great and easy class, Loved her!!!
She will answer emails, anser questions in and out of class, explains events and well. She loves teaching the subject and makes it interesting and easy to understand.
Ms. Reed is great! She has a very detailed syllabus that she follows verbatim. She answers questions in and out of class. Gives extra credit options and holds a review day before each test. She tests from her lectures, so notes are necessary. Book only used while writing 2 required responses. She enjoys the subject--which gets you to enjoy it too!
She is an amazing teacher! She makes the subject very fun and easy to understand. She doesn't MAKE you write anything note wise, however the class is all lecture, but it's fun. Provides several extra credit chances, no homework, except for a paper here and there. Highly recommend her.
I can not explain how much I loved having her as my teacher! She is seriously amazing. Her lectures are not boring, and tests are straight off of the lectures (so yes, take notes) She provides extra credit opportunities and if you ever need help, she will do her best to help you out.
Professor Reed is a great instructor. her lectures are fun and interesting. she gives lots of extra credit; without extra credit i would have failed. She's a great teacher and her work is not hard at all although I made a c, I just have issues lol. Thumbs up MRS.Reed. Take her class, you won't regret it.
I loved Ms. Reed. I took her for HIST 1301 & 1302. I would strongly suggest taking her especially if you do not like history. I hated history before but she makes the classes interesting, test were easy if you attended the reviews. I would give her an A+ overall!
Horrific teachings skills - she loves to listen to her own voice more than teach you anything. Her 3 tests are HIGHLY detailed and can be difficult. Only good is the extra credit she offers but even those are worth a fraction (literally 10/400) and hardly make a difference on your final grade
i dont recommend her to any one. if your a fan of history avoid her class. if your bad in history but like english take her class. majority of your grade is english class stuff. huge sylabus strict grader looking for english perfection. perfection... history knowledge takes a back seat to english skills in this class.
Mrs. Reed is a great professor. However, I do not recommend her class if you're looking for an easy class. Her tests are very detailed and can be difficult. There also isn't much breathing room in grades. She does offer quite a bit of extra credit though.
I don't recommend her class. Her teaching style is very boring..Multiple choice..The questions are long and very difficult..!
This professor's lectures provoke sleep. She lectures from the second class starts to the second class ends, and talks more about what is irrelevant to the notes than what is actually on the test. If you take her, expect to learn most of the material on your own.
When I took Mrs. Reed she was a very easy teacher. Her tests were pretty easy if you showed up for review day or studied the study guides that she posts if the study guides had more info than just the vocab. I passed her 1301 and 1302 class with A's and I would definitely take her again.
Took her for HIST 1301 & 1302. History has never been my best subject, but she will help you. The tests are based off the lectures. The book is just another source to better understand what was discussed in class. Take good notes and study, you'll be fine. She's helpful, just ask. One of my favorite professors!!!
She gives interesting lectures. She also allows for students thoughts on the material. If you pay attention in class her test are a breeze. She DOES NOT accept late work tho which hurt me but if there was a computer error or personal matter she will work with you.
She gives interesting lectures. She also allows for students thoughts on the material. If you pay attention in class her test are a breeze. She DOES NOT accept late work tho which hurt me but if there was a computer error or personal matter she will work with you. She does demand your attention tho so no watching youtube while she speaks lol
You have to pay attention to the class lectures and take good notes in order to be prepared for the tests. There's only 2 essays and 3 tests so it isnt that hard. pay attention in class and you'll be fine.
I loved Professor Reed's class! Her lectures were super interesting and I learned a lot! I thought her class was easy. I mean, if you study her study guides that she posts on Blackboard, you can easily get an A. Just be sure to take notes. A few times, I missed stuff in my notes and Mrs. Reed had no problem filling me in on what I missed.
Tests are majorly from the lectures, so don't skip class! That said, it's all about lectures and your notes for them, along with two essay homework. Also gives out plenty of extra credit opportunities so take advantage of them. Textbook has one use for extra credit or to help you catch up with any missed lectures, but there's also online notes.
Lots of writing. One-hour tests include 30 questions AND 250 word essay. Test set up so you can't go back to previous question to change an answer, so no skipping hard questions to go back later if time allows. The essay question is in the middle of the test! Does not drop any grades! I am a history buff, but I HATE this class. Not recommended!
This was a good class, yes the test are a little long, but as long as you study you should be fine. I would take her again.
Grade requirements set forth from the get go. Tests required a 250 word essay, but youre told itll be one of five possible options (and you're given the options), so you can write them before starting the test and be prepared (plus its a great way to review the test material)! Yes, you gotta do some work, but this IS college. Good online class.
My favorite history class yet! Answers any and all questions. Only 2 critical thinking essays and 3 tests. Very easy if you pay attention to her long yet very detailed (and humorous) lectures. Is very flexible with test retakes and essay submission dates. Gives 25-35 points of easy extra credit. I look forward to taking part 2!
Horrible. Just horrible. Never take for online class.
Professor Reed is great at what she does. She assigns a lot of work and you have to earn and work for you grade. Write down almost everything she says. Taking detailed notes, printing off the outline for each section saved my life for her class.
Take notes and show up to class
Biggest mistake of my life! DO NOT take!!
terrible class. boring and hard, professor does not help at all, just sends you back to syllabus. Test are really hard, questions are 3-4 lines long and multiple choice answers are 2 lines long. test are confusing. I pass only because of all the extra credit that she offers: write 15+ pages for 30 points extra credit, lots of points, lot of work!
If you pay attention in class and do your work this is a really easy course. But you aren't spoon fed this is a college course. Her extra credit is super easy(books only use is extra credit). She has a calendar in the syllabus so you know everything from do dates to what she lectured and is very flexible with your schedule if you can't make a test.
Extremely difficult class, you won't get a perfect grade on anything. Takes many points for minimal errors and test are very long and confusing! Don't take her!
Really Helpful
Good online professor, doesn't take a lot of grades but she is very clear and direct. Good professor.
Lectures aren't clear so it's hard to take decent notes for your test.
I love history, but when i took her class, it was clear to me that there are teachers who can make a subject very difficult for students to actually get a decent grade, or to even care about them to even help. This is not a history class is a writing class.
Syllabus is clearly defined, easy to understand when things are due. Lots of lecturing, and school requires attendance. Show up and take notes, then study for the tests, you will do fine. This isn't high school any more, so it's for adults who want to learn. She offers a ton of extra credit. Papers are not graded harshly. I suck and aced them.
Never take her again. You have to read read read read read read and understand the context to do the quiz and exam.
She is AMAZING!! Would recommend. She was was understanding about my situation and really cared about my success. If you show up and do the assignment you will easily pass.
She gives great lectures, homework was online and easy, tests were easy and only included material covered in class. All in all it was great. Only issue I had with the class was the final paper; it was worth 100 points of your final grade (out of around 600 points) and it was annoying and difficult.
Super pleasant and knowledgable. I enjoyed her first history course so much that I am taking her again for the next one. She lectures most of each class and taking notes is a must. She does a thorough review for each test, and tells what her essay questions for the tests will be. She is a fair teacher & this class is challenging.
Text book isn't really needed, she gives all the info you need in class. If you miss class though it would be really hard to pass unless you have a friend taking notes for you. She only teaches through lecture and power points which you can access online, really easy class and great professor who actually teaches.
If you don't do well in lectures, you might struggle. However her lectures were very detailed and relatively easy to follow along. She also will answer any questions you have during her office hours. You're only graded on 3 tests, 2 quizzes, and 2 papers, which were kind of graded harshly. There are extra credit options though. Just study and plan
if you pay attention in class and take notes you will pass
Very difficult tests, lots of writing on homework and test. She is not the right fit if history is not your thing.
she is awesome!!!
Definitely do not recommend taking.... This class resembled more of an ENGLISH class than a history class ... Very petty grading system. Tests are very hard, long and near to impossible to finish giving the time allowance... Too many essays and took points off for very minor details.... I did not sign up for an English class! BEWARE.
Professor Reed is an amazing professor. She responds to emails faster than any other professor I've ever had. She cares about your grade, and will help you if anything goes wrong. There is ALOT of reading required, but if you read quizzes and test are easy.
Great lectures. She really knows her stuff. There is a paper required, but it is a fun project, she grades it seriously, so can't turn in garbage. I am a straight A student, and made A's on all her test, but they are very challenging. Questions make you think. If you do not study, or miss lectures, you will bomb the tests. Excellent teacher
She lectures everyday but by the use of slides it is well organized and easy to follow. Easy grader and only has few assignments. A lot of opportunity for extra credit.
assuming that you need 423 points for an A, and there is almost 40 points up for grab as an extra credit. this class is an easy A if you know what you are doing. you do not need to be a history major, or know US history prior. she is good, but not a walk through class, you have to work for your A, but it is easy.
The discussion boards were pretty long, but the class was pretty easy overall. Do the reading and the homework and you WILL pass.
Professor Reed is amazing! She is clear in what she wants, gives you plenty of time for each Unit and while there is work that has to be done she makes sure you have the tools necessary to do well. There is a post, reply, quiz(with an essay), and test for every unit. Lots of reading and she gives links to videos but again she gives PLENTY of time!!
Reed is a great teacher for World Civ. As long as you show up to class and take good notes, you should be good for the tests. She has a total of 5 tests and ends up dropping one. There is only one major project and the rest is MindTap homework Her lectures are super interesting and it is not a hard class. overall should be an easy A
She gives great lectures and actually cares about the subject she is teaching. You can most likely get away without the textbook as long as you show up for lectures and take notes. There were only TWO assignments given during the semester that werent tests, so it is important to study and show up to the lectures.
I loved this teacher, she loves her job. Its all lecture, 3 tests If i remember correctly, no quizzes, 2 essays, 1 project. She is always smiling and ready to help you. A MILLION OPPORTUNITIES OF EXTRA CREDIT, TAKE IT.
Show up to class for lectures and youll pass easily. Gives extra credit prompts everyday for bonus points. Makes up for any missed questions on tests. Doesnt post lecture powerpoints online, but if you show up and listen, no need to even take notes. Very easy.
Prof Reed gives a clear expectation of what is expected, there are 4 lessons that are over 3 chapters. You HAVE to read the chapters, there is a 10 question quiz, db post and reply and a journal entry as well as a test for all 4 lessons. She gives up to 25 points of extra credit. This was my favorite class and Professor by FAR. Put in effort an A
She has a bad attitude and try very hard to make people look and feel stupid. Not everyone has knowledge of american history when she's going as far back as she does. I know she's only using what tcc gives her but she could at least have a better attitude about it and not try to make people feel bad for not knowing the material.
Do not skip! Simply take notes and study and you will pass. Easy grader in my experience, and she also tries to keep the conversation light and humorous when appropriate. Professor Reed gives lots of helpful tips and multiple extra credit opportunities throughout the semester. I particularly enjoyed how she let us learn in fun group projects.
Professor Reed is really understanding and a good teacher! There are 3 exams and a couple of projects due throughout the course. She gives you an "extra credit prompt" everyday which accumulates and helps boost your grade . I'm not a history person but if you stay on top of your work and show up to class this should be an easy A!
I had Professor Reed for both 1301 & 1302 because she is an amazing professor! Professor Reed's lectures are not long and drawn on they are fun and informational. Her essay's are not difficult and they are about interesting things. She offers LOTS of extra credit so take it! I end the class w/o having to take my final both times because I had an A
She gives great feedback on all discussion boards and journals, as well as provides her students with all material needed to pass.
So far I have an A in the class. Professor Reed is a very good professor. She is very organized. There are assignments, tests, but her class does not feel like the usual class. It feels like an adventure to discover how this country that we live in came to be! Totally recommend taking her class.
I loved Professor Reed! She was super fun and engaging, you can tell she loves what she does! She gives you feedback on everything, discussion boards, journal entries, and sometimes your tests. She truly wants you to succeed and learn more about history. Tests were open book, but still take the time to study!
Mrs. Reed was my favorite this semester, so much so I am taking her for my second needed history class.
Great professor, works with you and gives a lot of feedback. Overall easy course with her.
This class was very easy compared to other history classes in the past. She was very to the point with what she wanted and when things were due. The prompts for the writing assignments were actually interesting and easy to complete. I never even bought the textbook and I did just fine.
A very homework heavy teacher, but also very caring of her student's challenges, especially during Covid. Homework and tests are a bit difficult but passable. She truly wants her students to pass
She is a super super nice professor and I thought it was an easy class. Lots of videos and information which isnt bad, but the tests arent proctored and you can use notes. Easy grader in my opinion and offers extra credit. I would take her again. 5 units, lowest test grade gets dropped (besides exam). Dbs and journal for each unit.
She is a sweet teacher. A lot of writing and reading. The class was somewhat easy. lots of discussion boards with 250-300 words, and makes you reply to another student's work with 150 words. You need to buy the book. Lots of reading. I found that even if you read the book, you will still have a hard time with the test.
She is very nice and has a passion for history. The bulk of her grading is in tests, which are usually every 3 weeks, and a 5 page paper. We had to write about the life of anyone covered in our history class so it was interesting at least. The tests are basically info discussed in lectures so show up and take good notes and youll pass easily.
She is a great professor. There were papers you had to write but if you read the sources she provides and give your thoughts she grades you accurately and fairly. She also gave out 2 extra credit prompts each week that really helps and boosts your grade if you do them. She also dropped one test grade so if you do well no need to take the final.
Recommend taking her class, she's very organized and gives good feedback on journals. Assignments are spread out reasonably so you should have enough time to get those done. Each unit includes a discussion board (200 words minimum) that requires you to reply to a classmate, a journal(300 words minimum), and a test (50 questions notes are allowed)
She's the best. She is ready for questions and always willing to help her students any time they need it. The only downfall is her exams and HW; they are difficult but manageable; I say show up to class, take notes, and ask questions because what she talks about in class is what will be on the exam.
Professor Reed was fantastic. She's so wholesome and genuinely wants the students to succeed. She provides so much extra credit, you won't know what to do with it. Assignments were very interesting and the tests were very simple if you follow the reviews she provides. Loved taking this class. I wish I could take her again next semester.
Mrs. Reed gives a ton of extra credit, which is very easy and quick to do, she has clear grading criteria on her papers, and she gives reviews for all tests that have all the same questions as the tests. She is always willing to help and giving feedback on papers. It would be hard to fail this class because of how much extra credit is offered.
I read the reviews here about Mrs. Reed before taking her class, and here I am writing one after passing and getting an A. I have NEVER been into history, throughout junior high/highschool the highest grade I would get for a history class was probably a high C or low B. Mrs. Reed is truly amazing and offers a ton of simple and fun extra credit.
Honestly one of the best teachers I've had! She always makes her lectures so interesting and engaging. If you pay attention during class you'll do fine on tests. She gives great feedback and has extra credit prompts every day.
Took Professor Reed for 1301 and 1302, if I needed another class in her field, I'd take it! She's very nice! Class is straightforward and tests straight from the lectures, which are well-organized and often include videos. She recommends the textbook but I got through both classes without. Also offers daily extra credit and time in class to do it.
I LOVE Professor Reed, there is only 3 tests, and a final but you can choose to not take the final if you did good on the other tests. She does 2 extra credit prompts each week, and there are 4 writing journals but she drops the lowest of those as well. She is super easy if you pay attention and show up to class. I would take her again.
Professor Reed is very caring and wants you to succeed in her class. She sent me several reminders throughout the semester to remind me about assignments. She always replies promptly to questions. There was always feedback on assignments and very clear expectations. One of the best professors I've had.
Took her for Summer II. Really enjoyed her class. Very fast paced but sends reminders. She was very clear on what is expected from the students and graded everything very fast! 4 DB 200 words, reply DB 150 words, 4 Journals 300 words, and 4 exams w/50 multiple choice. Overall it was a smooth class, lots of reading but doable. Definitely take her!
I couldn't stay in her class it was one day in class and one day online the problem is her assignment is really hard no help heavy grading don't take this class with her!
I usually do not rate professors, however she deserves one. She respects your work and grades accordingly. If you are planning to take her online course, go for it, an easy A.
If you have any questions do not hesitate to reach out her. She is extremely kind and sends gentle reminders before assignments are due. You will have journal entry, discussion board, and exams with each unit. She drops the lowest grade for each. I enjoyed this course and found a new love for history! I will be taking her next semester for 1302.
One of my favorite professors of the year! She is very concise and makes sure to highlight within her lectures the things that will be important to know for the exams. She provides multiple study guides for various ways people study. The exams were very straightforward and the reviews helped a ton. She also gives out 50 points worth of extra credit
I enjoyed 1301 so I decided to take 1302 with Professor Reed. Exams are 50 questions with an 80-minute time limit. 4 journals (short essays), 15 quizzes, and 4 discussion boards. She does drop some quizzes, 1 journal, and 1 exam (not the final) Some lectures won't have info that is in exams which is frustrating along with all the reading required.
This class was an absolute pleasure. I learned and worked over summer session in her class and received feedback almost immediately every time I messaged her. Would absolutely take again.
I took this class during my summer semester so just a month, it was very fast paced but also it was pretty easy as long as you read the book and keep up, she values explanations on how you go to an answer a lot more than just the answer its self, she was very considerate with sending out reminders when the due date came up which i really loved.
Probably one of my favorite professors. Took her for world civ 1 and 2. Her class mainly consisted of lectures and tests. We had one project per class (one for world civ 1 and one for 2). We rarely had homework other than studying. Her lectures were interesting and enjoyable to listen to. Would definitely take her again.
Ive taken Prof. Reed for both World Civ 1 and 2 and enjoyed my time in both her classes. Show up to her lectures because her class grades mainly consists of tests from lecture info. We also had to write a 5 page paper in both classes. Outside of that not much work. Loved taking her and Im glad to have had her as a professor. Highly recommend.
Very nice woman. You will need to get a mindtap textbook to access homework though but the assignments are fairly short and are completion grades. Her lectures are entertaining and interesting. Always answers questions you may have.
Interesting and well thought out lectures. Easy homework assignments, average level tests, one final project due in Nov so you do not have to stress during finals. Shows passion for subject. Involved with college community. Some group work in class.
Professor Reed is a passionate and engaging history professor; her lectures are well-organized and filled with great details. The workload is very easy: weekly discussions of around 250 words, in-class group assignments, and five online unit tests. If it's your first-ever history class in college, I 100% recommend this professor.
I LOVED her, so much so, I'm taking her for 1302 in the Spring. There's 5 exams, 5th is final; lowest of first 4 drops. 5 journals, drops lowest. Discussions boards. In class group assignments over what the lesson was, this probably my least favorite part; but it's not enough to say “don't take her class.” She's funny, and cares about her students.
Super easy class, there will be group assignments every class, but it's not too hard if you have a good group. She has a fun way of having lectures and she's super sweet.
easssssyyyyyyy A!! Would take again, exams are through lockdown browser but no cam!!
Professor Reed made this class a breeze, she provides outlines about key points you should take away from the lessons. Overall a great teacher, I would recommend her to anyone. I am actually taking her again for HIST 1302.
Super easy. Lockdown browser but no camera. Her lectures were super simple and laid back, you could follow along and take notes easily. Super sweet and upbeat.
