expect a lot of work, but teaches well
while I got an A, no one else did, this was the hardest non majors ever

AVOID!, lots of work, i cry!
Very hard, expects a lot for a non-major course, HARD TESTS, helps when asked
Gave so much work, she couldnt even keep up. Had to complete work on weekends
Took this two times, passed with her
Should pass if you try
she is very fair-helps you out when you aren't doing so well
Ok teacher, gives lots of work, not very friendly or understanding
she honestly cared that you understood and did well (if you tried)
hard for a non major class, difficult tests, gives you quizes every class
nice but too much info. covered at one time
WAY TOO MUCH info at once... tests r impossible, but she posts notes on Blk Brd
nice, efficient, hard, overall good teacher
B4 taking her class, must know Biol first. Not good in explaining the material
I didn't do a damn thing and pulled a B.
HARD tests.. class is SO boring but alot of grade protectors
Too much work at one time, stressful, DO NOT TAKE!

Good teacher, but too much work. Do not take her. Stressful.
horrible lectures, very boring and lots of busy work. Not nice or understanding

too much info at once, not nice at all. dont take her!!
goes to fast in lectures, boring . easy notes but boring, hard test
Lectures very boring. Clarity is poor. Got a B by my own research & ex. cred.

Too much info, tests are hard. But if you like science then your probably do okay
Goes off of topic alot. Tests are very hard.
she's ok 1 on 1 but in class...oh man...you better pray you have a good TA!!Tests are REALLY hard!
way too much work. make sure you print her notes offline. tests very hard even if you study.
Dr Bruce gives you a lot of work but if you do the work you understand the information a lot better and do better on tests and class assignments with not as much effort. Great teacher
helpful. but too much information for a 100 level course
Has way too much time on her hands - her whole life is dedicated to her 2 classes. Extremely picky, real ****y. Take Feldman instead!

Dumb woman... misleading simply because she doesn't know waht she's talking about.
Scatter brain; contradicts herself or is misleading, tests are tough and labs are mostly irrelavent; assitant teacher is not very helpful.
Scatter Brain; too much info. Tests are hard even if you study alot. If you are a non-major, don't take it!!!!
ok...she's really not that bad of a person OR that difficult of a professor. just be sure to do the RQs and work your @ss of for labs.
its a basic bio class just study the material and you'll be fine shes more than happy to help you
easy class. just study notes. tests are easy
Dr. Bruce is truly Bruce Almighty. She is quite clear in her instruction, provides a detailed syllabus with clear instruction. She is an amazing teacher and adjusts for different learning styles. Will help anyone even a brick learn the material.
always easy to get a hold of and always willing to work with you outside of class if you need it. always has mad study sessions before test, but realy hard on grading lab reports
hated every second of the class... confusing, contridicts herself... study for test using the reading questions and sample tests and youll be ok... the reason i passed is because of our T.A.
Easy B. Hard A. I agree. Our TA rocked! :)
She mixes terms up sometimes, yes, but her tests are fairly straightfwd. and she reuses questions from the quizzes or study guides, so its not unpredictable. didnt work with her outside of class, but she always seemed approachable
Went to every class, took a lot of notes, studied, got a C. Maybe I just hate Bio. She lectures pretty fast, never lets you out early EVER.
don't take her, not even if you life depended on it. she is horrible. she is slow and seems to have trouble clarifying herself. she is tough grader on labs and seems to have this dry crusty finger.
Possibly the WORST class I have EVER taken. she makes it very hard, and its only a gen-ed. She knows her stuff and you cannot B-S your way thru. If you are a non-biology major DO NOT TAKE HER!!!
omg, its ridiculously hard for a gen ed... her tests are brutal mind****s...
too hard for a gen ed. Stuff seems simple then the tests come. If you keep up with RQs and Quizzes, a C+ or B- isn't too hard to get. Getting an A is damn near impossible. Not recommended
Difficult!! Way too much material for a non- major class, gives a ton of work. If you do all the work you will get a decent grade, but expect to do a lot. Very thorough and encourages questions.
Awful. Includes material on exams that is often not on the study guide she provides. Comes off as being impatient and condescending in class. Expects you to know too much for a gen ed.
I took a class that was very similar to this in high school. Believe it or not, she was absolutely clear on things that I could not understand in the class I took in high school. I practically slept through that class and still got an A!
TESTS ARE HARD! Lecture boring, labs are more like extended lectures. Must go to EVERY lab, and most lectures to get a decent grade.
DON'T DO IT!!!!!! You'll want to shoot yourself about a week into the class. She is crazy, I took it as a gen ed. and she teaches it as a majors course. REALLY REALLY REALLY wouldn't recommend her, she likes to go on and on and on, never ends on time!
Hard, Hard, Hard. Includes the tiniest details of things mentioned in lecture on the tests. Studied my ass off for tests, then didnt study for the next and still got the same grade. Class avg. on test was in the 50's range. Nice lady, just very very hard.
hard hard hard. make sure you do the RQ's and try to get any extra points you can from the other assignments because the tests are impossible. she's pretty nice though, but HARD.
how does this woman have any smiley faces? everyone in that class, including myself is like wtf everyday bc we have no idea whats going on. biology equals this womans life and she will make it yours...i pray every night before i go to bed that ill get
All of you spiteful kids are probably just lazy, stupid wastes of life. Dr. Bruce is a very intelligent, devoted teacher. Intelligent, motivated students, Don't listen to them!
Very challenging class for a 110 level. She takes it very seriously. class average in 60s range for tests. semi-daily quizzes(to help grades) are TOUGH/TRICKY. Must put a lot of work for a gen ed.
Absolutely impossible. Teaches it as if it is a 400 level for majors rather than an introductory gen ed. Would not recommend to anyone except Biology majors.

she made this class extremely hard. takes attendance, have to go to class. don't take her
Took her class as a gen ed. Impossible to pass. class average 68 at one point. boring class. students so confused. tests very hard. as a straight A bio student in hs, I barely pulled an A. lots of hw and reading. test questions from her A**!
I'm not gonna lie, she is hard, and your gonna have to work at it. But a little bit of work goes a long way, just do all the things she recomends and study and go to class and you'll be ok. And she is ALWAYS ALWAYS willing to help. Just go to her office, she'll stay as long as she needs to help u.
DO NOT TAKE! THINKS THE CLASS IS FOR MAJORS ONLY!!!! HARDEST TESTS EVER!!!!! STAY AS FAR AWAY AS POSSIBLE!!!
When Brucifer starts talking in that high pitch monotone voice, you just want to gauge your eyes out. Her HW takes hours and are only worth 5 points! Can't teach, besides tests on material that she says she won't test on. If you want a good, easy bio teacher take Wimmers, he's top notch.
Loads of work and terribly boring. She approaches the classs as if it were for biology majors. If you work incredibly hard, a decent grade is possiible but, I would defenitely avoid her if possible.
Teacher assistant and the book tought me most of the crucial things for the test. Lab reports are rediculous. Spends way to much time over experimental desighn and not enough on important elements of the class.
its an ok class...alot of notes and she goes from being to the end of class...never let out early!! is helpful in goin over things before tests tho...alot harder then excpeted for a 100 level
Bruce is an extremely good teacher. Take her classes if you can. She expains things well and is always there to help you with thing. By far, Bruce is my favorite teacher.
Good teacher. She can be hard at times. If you have a good biology background, you can probably do well in the class, along with alot of intense studying. Go to class, it helps. She also offers review sessions before each test- GO TO THEM. She'll help you if you need it, just ask. ALOT OF STUDYING!!
she is a very nice lady but extremely difficult, i recommend that you do not take her because her tests are completely insane, you have to put in at least 8 hours a week of studying just for her class and its still not clear, DONT TAKE, TRUST ME.
SUCH A BORING CLASS-shes a nice lady when you get her alone, but the class is death and very hard.
this class is hard for a non major class. i managed to get a b in the class but i got c's on all the tests. her labs and quizes are buffers for the tests, but just make sure you go to class to take the quizes. her tests are difficult too. good luck...dont take her if you can help it
Everyone is saying that she is hard and you have to study. This is true; but we are here to do that. She is an amazing teacher and if you put out the effort of studying and going to the review session you will do well. I read this before taking her class and i was terrified.I got an A-!!
Thankfully I only had her for the lab. She is incredibly unfriendly and acts like you are in a class going for your doctorate. Picky grader. The worst however is that she plays major favorites.
Gen-Ed class, but Bruce teaches it like it's for biology majors. Lectures very boring and tests very hard. I was a straight a student in high school and almost failed this class. DO NOT TAKE HER!
Do not listen to the morons who say that she is nice and her class is easy..she teaches like a nazi, and she is only helpful to her favorite students. This class is 101 and it seems like a 300level. It is ridiculous.never, ever take her:even though I got a B, I still cant stand her or her voice
DO NOT TAKE!!! I learned nothing from her. She explains things with huge words no one can understand, and her tests are awful. Everyone in my lecture gets C- or below!! She sucks!!! She can't explain anything, she always goes off topic. Lab is just extended torture-- i mean lecture! STAY AWAY!
Do not take her-- She thinks she is teaching Harvard Graduates!
She's alright. I like her style of teaching. She's not too fast. And I think she's the best professor i have this sem. HAHA do i have to answer the appearance question?
This class will make you want to kill yourself. DO NOT TAKE! This lady is INSANE! Her tests are so hard, and she is soooo boring! There are no reviews... and the test is on stuff she barely covers in lectures!!! STAY AWAY if you want to come out of the semester alive!
she was very unclear and very difficult to understand
gets off topic easily
I believe in the dictionary, if you look up "Satan," one of the synonyms is "Dr. Sarah Bruce." Insanely hard, had 3 other 4 credit classes, all put together didn't add up to the amount of work in this class. Do yourself a favor and pound your head with a hammer, you'll learn just as much. DO NOT TAKE!
Great teacher. Almost everyone I know in this class got an A-. All you gotta do is show up in class and jot down notes coz she gives short quizzes that are quite easy. Its also helpful to read the text first before going to class.
After reading her reviews before i took this course i almost dropped her class. Instead I stuck with it and got an A. I hardly passed Bio in high school. This class simply requires you to study. She gives you the essays for the tests and gives you a great study packet before every test. Just put forth the effort and its fine.
So, I've read these comments and seriously I dont think they justify her AT all. I just transfered and she is the best teacher I've ever had. If you do your work, you'll get a good grade. She expects alot out of her students, but you will leave her class knowing something-unlike most classes here. ! If you dont take her your stupid.
This class is challenging, yet I feel like I learned alot. If you keep on top of the readings and notes you will be ok. Don't skip class, the lecture material is important on the test and the daily quies count for attendence and as a separate quiz grade. Dr. B is a hottieeeee!!!!
I took seminar over the summer with her. The class it self isn't the greatest, but I thought she was a great professor and very helpful. Pretty easy A as long as you do exactly what she wants you to with your presentation.
Has crazy mood swings. Picky about everything you turn it. Horrible for non-science majors. Long ( 2 hr 15 mins). Definatly not an easy grader. Wouldn't recommend anyone to take this class
I love Dr. Bruce! This is a difficult course but you have to engage yourself. Sometimes you will love this class and others you won't. Dr. Bruce does take the class a little far sometimes but she does care a lot about her students. You will learn more in the first few weeks of this class than you did the whole year in HS bio.
Excellent teacher! It's a difficult class, there is tons of info to remember, so you HAVE to study! She is more than willing to help when you're falling behind. But if you like to skip class, don't take this one! Lecture notes are important, and she gives random 10 pt quizzes that count as attendance too. Helps that she makes the info interesting!
Very smart teacher but very hard. It is important to go to class, take good notes, and study them. A lot of random 10 pt pop quizzes. Tests are only allowed 40 minutes and contain a 500 word essay, multiple choice, and a few open endeds. Very helpful if you dont understand. A must study class or you will not pass.
Really good teacher! There are a lot of quizes but she'll usually warn you before she gives them. Really straight forward with what material is going to be on the tests. Very helpful with extra studying. Would definatley recomend taking her class.
Very hard teacher. Do NOT take if you dont like to study for hours. A lot of information to obtain. Never lets you out of class early. Attendance not mandatory but if you miss you will feel weeks behind. Makes sessions to help you for tests, but only allows 40 minutes for her 500 word, 10 multiple choice, 10 open ended etc. tests.
this class was so hard. there was so much boring information and her lectures dragged on for what seemed like hours. plus her 2 hr 50 minute labs werent any better. i dropped her class as soon as i could.
Knows the subject matter and teaches well. But have hatred for a particular race. Could excel beyond her imaginations if she could treat all races equally. She treated me unfair.
She's a really good teacher, this class was good because it was new and just for people who are in health related majors. If you weren't doing something that is health related i would say don't take it. But since alot of your classes are going to be science related, she's a great teacher to take to take because you get a good background.
Very helpful, sets up many review sessions before tests, gives you the essays on the test before you take it. She is very knowledgeable about the subject, and LOVES Biology. There's a decent amount of work, but I would recommend taking her.
I really enjoyed her class, she's very smart and is willing to help you if you need it. However, her tests are hard but if you do the essays that she gives you before hand you'll be fine! Go to class b/c there are pop quizzes sometimes.
I LOVE professor Bruce. She was such a good teacher and really engaged the class. i was worried before because i thought the information might be overwhelming but she presents it in such a way that makes sense and is interesting. she really isnt hard. if you go to class, read the book, there is no way you cant pull off an A. i did
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! Way too much info to obtain for a class thats for NON-boi majors. Def did not seem like an entry level course. If you go in not knowing anything and explain to her that you are new to this, ur ignored! TESTS are extremely hard, I studided for hours and even got a grad student who majored in boi to tutor me...it wasnt enough!!
Very nice woman. Biology is her LIFE! Tests are hard, but if you go to class, read the book, and go to study sessions, the curriculum is a lot easier to comprehend. If you want to get on her good side, ask questions, and talk to her outside of class. Hard class, but with some effort, can be passed! :D
If you need to have the fundamentals of biology down, then this is your class!! She is really nice and always provides extra help when you ask for it. But this class is pretty difficult, and you have to put in a lot of extra work to do well. But if you do everything she assigns and go to her help sessions you'll do fine!
Dr Bruce was probably the best Biology professor I've ever had. She really knows her stuff and gives her students TONS of extra review material in addition to the book. Tests are somewhat difficult but she is always available to help! I would take her again!
This professor is great at teaching. She is passionate and interested. This class requires a lot of attention. She is a really clear lecturer and is always available for help.
She was a reeeeeaaalllyyy really hard teacher. If you know your stuff you'll be alright. She helps you the best she can but expect quizzes every other class and homeworks will be due all the time. I hated biology but I pulled off a B because she really did try to help.
100% is IMPOSSIBLE...got a 14.5/15 on a poster cuz i wasnt 'clear' enough on one portion...had a 50 out of 50 on a test but then she scratched out my essay grade and gave me a 24.5 so it brought me down to a 49.5...blows my mind...class itself isnt too hard but its alot of boring pointless work that noone wants to do EVER
A good teacher. Reading the textbook assignments before each class helps A LOT! Tests are thorough, but if you prepare well beforehand, you should be okay. She's willing to help if you're unsure/unclear about something. All in all, a good teacher who knows her stuff.
SO BORING! She made me go to sleep. This class is too hard for the description. She went way too fast in lecture and was so hard to understand. You Deff. need a lower level Bio before taking this class. Expect to study very hard and read your book alot because DR. Bruce is useless. Don't take her!
A very nice lady. And also extremely helpful. Reading the text book will help you out a lot with exams. try to come to class b/c if you miss a day ur gonna b out of luck
You need to pay attention in class and study, but she gives you the essays before each test word for word. As long as you answer them ahead of time there shouldn't be a problem. She's particular with labs but she gives you a rubric of what she wants.
Dr. Bruce was an excellent teacher!!! She was very helpful and understandable. At some points the work was a little excessive but it was useful information. Study guides are very helpful and detailed. COME TO CLASS OR YOU MAY BE LOST...but you can always ask questions and she'll be happy to clarify anything. I was satisfied with my B+ in the class.
At first i was intimidated by Dr. Bruce and the class. But after about a month, i knew what it took to succeed in the class. Go to every class, go to the review session, coaching sessions, tutoring, etc. Tests can be a little tricky but easily passable. She is very clear about the material. Just a great overall professor.
Dr. Bruce is by far one of the best teachers i've ever had. She's always available for outside help when you need her and she offers tutoring sessions the day before the test. It would be a huge mistake if you didn't take her. All the bio190 classes are going to be difficult, but if you spend time doing the work (which will be alot!) you'll be good
hard but once you get with a routine you get used to what you have to do. go to class, TAKE NOTES, and studystudystudy. shes willing to help at anytime. labs arent too bad. design an experiment and make a poster about it. she gives a study guide that is similar to the exam which is good. quizzes are constant. you do learn the stuff with her though
Dr. Bruce is honestly the BEST teacher I've had at TU. She cares deeply about her students and is very willing to provide help. She offers tutoring and reviews sessions before each exam. Have to work for a good grade, but thats how it is with all Bio 190 classes. DEFINITELY take Bruce if you have the chance to!
BAD TEACHER!! Dr. Bruce was was too crazy w/ biology! lectures were way too fast & she graded terribly! she would give accidental bad grades b/c she "had to rush" grading them. Impossible course & her exams were very difficult. Review sessions dont help b/c its only to ask questions. overall avoid if possible! especially if you need a good grade!
Dr. Bruce was an extrememly challenging teacher. She is an insanely tough grader and you have a quiz every other class it feels like. Read each assigned chapter before class. Take a lot of notes and study every night.
Dr. Bruce is by far my favorite teacher at TU. She really cares about her students and wants you to learn and understand the material. Do the five page reading assignments before class and use the study guides she makes for you. I would strongly recommend her!
her life is literally biology. insane. so hard for a 190 class, teaches you like youre a bio major which i clearly wasnt. always finds something wrong with every answer you have and deff. picks favorites. i would not recommend her at all, it was the worst. also you cant miss one class or youre impossibly behind and never catch up.
Take Dr. Bruce! She wants all of her students to pass and will help you no matter what. She brings in many outside examples which helps you understand the class. She teaches toward the visual and auditory learners. You MUST take notes and STUDY CONSTANTLY. She heightened my interest in biology! Great teacher
OMG probably the WORST professor I have ever had! Very unclear with her lectures and does not help her students at all. DO NOT TAKE HER or you will fail.
She is always willing to help. Go to her test review sessions and you will do fine on the tests. She teaches to everyones needs by using diagrams and videos. The labs can be stressful but you will definitely learn a lot! Take her!
She is one of the worst teachers I have ever had. She Teaches as if you know a ton about biology already and her tests are impossible. You have 40 minutes to write a 500 word essay and answer up to 30 fill in the blanks. Do not take this teacher
I LOVED Dr. Bruce's class! She is one of my all-time favorite teachers. Her class is easy if you have the motivation to study and keep up with you work. She is ALWAYS willing to sit down with you until you understand the material commpletely. She is the best and I wish I could take her for another course in the future!
Great professor! She's always willing to help, as long as you come to her. She knows the material is hard, and actually works to make it easier to understand. Just read the textbook and study, and an A is possible.
An amazing biology professor. Tests are pretty hard and you dont get much time but if you know the material you can get it done with time to spare. If you're not good in biology def take the review session its worth it. Everything is on bbd and LOOK AT ALL THE STUDY GUIDES. there isnt anything on the test that isnt in the study guide. great teacher
She is smart but she doesn't do a good job teaching you the information. the Tests are very hard. The class is required for most health majors but try to take the class with another teacher if you can help it. She is the Hardest by far
A very hard class regardless of who your teacher is. Dr Bruce does not make it any easier however. she is the stereotypical professor who is monotoned and knows almost everything in her field and she speaks to you as if you know the same amount.
Yes this class is hard, its going to be with whoevever you take it with. But Dr. Bruce knows her stuff, is 110 percent willing to help, and she will make sure you really know it, not just know it for the test. She tests for comprehension not memorization. You cant expect this class to be easy, i would absolutley recomend her.
It actually makes me laugh to read the positive reviews about Ms. Bruce..there are SO MANY better biology teachers out there. Dont take this class if your not ready for CONSTANT work. You present in lab every other week&have a quiz EVERY SINGLE class.no joke. She is not a good teacher&talks in monotone. Prepare to be bored and frustrated.
Dr. Bruce is a really hard professor. She knows a lot about bio and wants you to know a lot too. She cares about the students who work hard in her class and always has multiple review sessions before the exam. Her lectures are soooo boring and attendance isn't mandatory. We never got out of lab early and lab is just as hard. I wouldn't recommend.
Dr. Bruce is a really good teacher. She is kind of a hard grader but goes over everything really really well. I strongly recommend that you take her class. I have talked to other people and she is clearly the best BIO 190 professor. She is really nice and funny and will help you through anything.
It's not a walk in the park, but she's a great prof. She loves what she teaches, and she genuinely wants you to succeed. Go to review sessions. I would recommend her.
Tough teacher. Her expectations can seem kind of ridiculous and the work load is high. I found the lectures to be helpful. The textbook is your best friend for this class. If you're not great with a lot of work, don't take her. I received an A, but I studied for this class about an hour everyday and about 2 hours a day for a week before exams.
This is a hard class not gonna lie, I had to study like it was my job. She expects a lot out of you and there is a lot of material. Overall I thought she was a really good professor, she wanted students to succeed and really knew what she was teaching. I would def recommend her for Bio.
Hands down the hardest class in college. VERY hard. Most people in the class are repeaters. It is possible to do well but you MUST study every second. She is a great teacher, but either way, I hated this class with a passion.
She is an overall good teacher. Very helpful and wants her students to do well. The class isn't going to be easy with any professor there is a lot of material and requires a lot of time and studying. She loves what she does and is a very helpful professor. I would defeinitely recommend her.
Bruce is awesome. Yes its a boring and challenging class, but since you have to take it, she's the best you will get. Knows material inside and out, very enthusiastic, presents material in many different and helpful ways. Tests are based off study questions and essays. Time consuming but not hard if you study.
The class is hard, and you will be challenged. But Bruce is a very good teacher, and she knows her stuff. She's really good about getting grades and tests back. Go to the review sessions before each test, they really do make a difference. READ THE TEXTBOOK and study and you will do just fine. Bruce is always available for extra help.
I did not like Bio in high school, and I still do not like it now, but Dr. Bruce did help a lot. Sometimes she can go on and on but she does explain things well. If you don't understand somethings just ask. Go to review sessions, and READ THE BOOK! I received a B- but if I studied more, I could've done better. Take her!
Do not let these bad reviews scare you. Bruce is wonderful, she gives you everything you need to get a good grade and will spend hours helping you. If you cannot at least pass this class, then you weren't willing to put the effort in and you don't belong in college. STUDY AND WORK HARD. THIS IS COLLEGE. Take Bruce.
Dr. Bruce is an excellent teacher. If you keep up with the work then you will be fine. Go to any review sessions that she has and study a couple days in advance for the test. You should do fine if you do all the things I mentioned.
Dr. Bruce is always willing to meet and help revise assignments. Very interesting and uses current materials/ reading in class. Be ready to WORK. But, this should be expected for an advanced composition biology course. If you want to learn a lot, and are willing to work hard, take Dr. Bruce.
Even though this class is really challenging, Dr. Bruce helps you in every way possible. She will volunteer her time and come in on weekends or nights to review for exams that are the next day. She truly wants you to do your best in class. She made the class easier with all of her help and her clear teaching skills.
Dr. Bruce is just awesome. She's always willing to help and her class really isn't that hard if you do the work. She's really passionate about what she does and it shows. As long as you actually study and prepare for tests and quizzes you will do fine in this class.
This is a hard class but Bruce is the best. She knows what she is talking about and explains it very well. Unit tests are every 2 weeks and you NEED to study for them. But as long as you know the material you will be fine. She posts powerpoints on Bb after every class and will answer any questions you have. Definitely take her.
BIO 190 isn't an easy class, but Bruce is straightforward, and she wants you to do well. You have to do the work, and she gives you a lot of assignments, but they help you learn the material and you can stumble a couple times and still do okay. Tests are straightforward.
Biology is a difficult class no matter who you take it with, but she goes out of her way to help her students. She has multiple optional review sessions before each test. Her lectures were very interactive and interesting. The lab was easy and fun.
Dr. Bruce is wonderful. She's absolutely brilliant, gets her ideas across clearly, and is extremely personable. Labs were easy and fun, and questions were always welcome and answered fully. She's extremely passionate about this course and really wants her students to do well. Yes, this course is hard. Study, ask for help, and you'll be fine.
Bio 190 is a hard class in general but Dr. Bruce makes it her priority to help you succeed. If you go to her coaching/office hours or even stay after class she will help you as much as she can. Lots of quizzes and exams to give more points to your grade also.
Dr. Bruce is an awesome professor. She is willing to help however she can and really cares that her students know the material.. This course is tough and covers a lot of material which requires daily studying, but it really prepared me for A&P. After completing her course I went on to pass A&P with an A (built nicely off this material).
Most amazing professor EVER. Went into her office hours every week (not necessary) &learned so much. Gives review sheet with possible essay questions (one will be on the test) and if you study and understand that completely you will be fine! She just wants you to pass and love the subject. She is so passionate about BIO & my whole class loves her!
LOVE LOVE LOVE HER. This class is hard, but not impossible. Bruce hands you everything you need to succeed. DO THE ESSAYS SHE GIVES YOU TO PREP FOR THE EXAMS. I also highly recommend this as an honors class to anyone in Honors College because the class is smaller and she personally connects with the students. Hard class but Bruce is a saint.
She will first come off as a strict professor, but after a few weeks once everyone warms up to each other she is great! It is very easy to tell she loves biology and it shows in the way she teaches. She expects that you pay good attention to her. She is good at explaining content and is always happy to help if you don't understand. Also kinda silly
Read & work on the practice assignments before the lecture .. it really helps. Study as she goes through the sections and write practice essays.
AMAZING! Must take her class! She will do ANYTHING to help you learn your way. Only neg. is that there are a LOT of little assigmts. as long as you turn them all in you will be good. Really is available and genuinely WANTS you to succeed. Provides a million recourses--powerpoint, text, jokes, lecture, notes, everything helps! She needs an award!
I had the flipped version of the Bio 190 course, so I was essentially teaching myself. But Professor Bruce was ALWAYS there to answer an question you had no matter what it was about. The tests are tough but you can do well if you put in the work. She had us do all kinds of hands-on activities in class to help us better understand the material.
This online class is heavily on reading. There is a quiz every week (3 attempts to do it) and an exam every 4 chapters. It is a good amount of reading and exercises you have to do with each chapter, but if you do the reading it will be fine. She answers emails fairly quickly and is here to help.
The easiest class I ever took at Towson. Do the work and you can get an A. She can be a little critical when it comes to grading some things but this class was not bad at all!! Highly recommend her and this class!!!
She's not the best professor but she does want her students to be successful. For starters she is only available online (i.e via email) she's retired so there is no going to see her during office hours. For an online course she isn't very specific about what she wants but expects you to read and understand the feedback given on some assignments.
Since this was an online class for me, I didn't spend much time around the professor. However, for an online class its pretty easy. Of course its a lot of work and reading because its all online and you're learning about medical terminology. Ultimately, if you have seen Grey's anatomy or Chicago med, you'll understand a lot of the material.
Dr. Bruce does not actually teach this class. We use an online textbook format for the entire course. Good luck with reaching her through email as well, took me 5 days to get an email back from her about an assignment that was due. For a class where the online program does everything including grading, the least she could do is answer an email back
