Really made science interesting for someone who doesn't have a big interest in science at all. She is very energetic and goes around and makes students do group activities in order to help us learn more about a particular subject. Very easy to approach if you have any questions. Overall great teacher.
-gives team pop quizzes -online assignments, post lecture and reading assignments -EVERYTHING'S IMPORTANT, -no reviews
Mrs. Couch was a pretty good prof. It was obvious it was her first time teaching this course but she did okay and I'm sure she will get better. Super nice and easy to talk to about grades or questions. This class just has so much to it - group homework, case studies, quizzes, lab, etc. that it is easy to get buried.
Professor Couch is AMAZING!! She gives tons of extra credit and is very helpful when it comes to your struggles. She even took the time to offer tutoring. There were only 4 tests (no final) during the semester. All of the homework was online but it was never overwhelming or complicated. She really takes the time to care for her students! Take her!!
Professor Couch is super nice! she is very approachable and works really hard to make sure her students understand the content. Be sure to go to class everyday because there are some pop quizzes.
Couch is a good teacher, she explains the material well. We had 4 tests total and about 10 quizzes. Each test she gives a review and many chances to get extra points, each test has a bonus page worth like 15 points. Non cumulative final. Would recommend taking her!
Couch is not a bad professor. I took her in the morning and honestly enjoyed her class and teaching style. She sometimes gets repetitive, especially toward the end of the year. Weekly quizzes and an occasional group project. Three tests over different things and none are too bad as long as you study. Not too bad of a science class!
Couch was an amazing teacher as long as you do the homework and go to class you will pass the class. She is extremely helpful if you need to speak to her outside of class she will take the time to really explain it to you. TAKE HER.
Dr. Couch is amazing! Before her class I dreaded science courses, but she made lecture easy to follow and kept it interesting. She's really down to earth and understanding. You have some reading to do, but it's not alot, and there are frequent quizzes on BB, but they're easy. As long as you show up and pay attention, you'll do good.
Most annoying voice ever. Ms. Couch is a nice person, however, her lectures are very boring and hardly anyone pays attentions nor cares enough to get involved. People struggle on her tests and it's no surprise why considering her reviews are terrible. She takes forever to input grades and she'll give negative feedback on almost every assignment.
This class is super easy. As long as you show up for lectures you should easily pass it and even ace it. She is really great at explaining things. There are lots of assignments, but they're easy and prepare you for tests more than anything. She will talk to you and help you if you need it and is open to feedback about he class.
Her lectures are pretty good, easy assignments, and lots of group projects.
Professor Couch is ok. This course was pretty easy but super annoying because of the group projects and because professor Couch lets students talk and do nothing during lecture which is distracting. If you put the work in you will be fine. The exams are hard, but its overall an easy course with the reading quizzes due each week.
Mrs. Couch was an awesome teacher. She is really patient and great at explaining things. There is some group assignments, but all in all it's not a hard class. Just show up, listen, and take notes and you will be more than okay.
Lots of homework, group projects, quizzes and test. Does not give extra credit but you can redeem your grade with the group projects. There is a lot of reading for the lecture and the lab every week. She gives test reviews that are not helpful what so ever. Just study her extremely long PowerPoints and you can at least get a B on her exams.
She does not seem like she enjoys teaching at all. She is very lecture heavy and you have multiple assignments due every week. Yes, if you do the bare minimum (attend class because she doesn't post PowerPoints) you can pass. I would not take her again though because she doesn't make class interesting at all.
I dread science classes but Mrs. Couch made it bearable. 2 assignments due weekly (on AVG) one of them is an extra credit quiz which is optional (BUT TAKE THEM BECAUSE EXACT QUESTIONS FROM THEM WILL BE ON THE EXAMS THAT PEOPLE FAIL!) The other is an online interactive lecture- very easy. several extra credit opp. Group work is okay. Take her!
Shes a super boring professor that treats the class like five year old. An online assignment is due every week and it is about the stupidest thing Ive had to do it college. She doesnt post the slides and her reviews helped none. She takes attendance and will fail you for 6 absences.
Show up to class!!! You can miss up to 6 classes before she drops you but after the 2nd miss you will lose 100 points for every missed class after that. There is alot of group work but it helps keep your grades high. You will have to read for the extra credit quizzes.
Amazing professor, cares about students on a personal level & is always helpful if youre struggling whether it be with school or outside circumstances.
You only get to miss 2 days before she starts to deduct points from your grade. The lessons aren't hard, but the test are hard. She grades hard especially on group projects. Do have stuff do on sunday nights every week. She is nice and is a good teacher but kind of annoying and a hard grader.
The class is very group-centered. There were 3 or 4 group projects throughout the semester that can be tricky. Three tests, including the final. Show up every day for attendance, memorize your notes, and you should do fine on the tests which can be tricky. Not a typical science class, based on logical arguments and critical thinking.
When taking this class make sure to do the Review Reading and take the Review Reading Quizzes. These quizzes will help a lot when it comes time to taking the unit tests. Ms. Couch is a wonderful teacher and if you pay attention in her class and have good attendance you should do wonderfully in her class.
She's a pretty good professor, but when the syllabus says she posts the lecture powerpoints online, don't believe it. It isn't super hard, but there's a lot of work w/ reading, smart sparrows, and group projects. There are 2 books: Foundations of Science (Pearson Custom Library) and How to Think About Weird Things (7th ed.)-You'll read this most.
Professor Couch is hands down a great professor. She offers tons of extra credit, and cares a lot about her students and their success. Not hard material to retain, just show up and listen. It is required to buy textbook, but I havent used it and have been fine. Easy A
Super easy class to get an A in. I never took notes just showed up and participated in group assignments and activities you will get so much extra credit opportunities theres absolutely no way you will fail.
She is AWESOME! She is always willing to help answer any questions. Attendance is mandatory though. She offers extra credit points. Always make sure you keep up with when assignments are due. I got by without using my textbook. Super easy tests, just pay attention to lecture! Would definitely take her again, and recommend her class to anyone!!!
She teaches like she is teaching to little kids. Heavy group work so prepare. Overall an easy course. So many chances for extra credit.
I hate science and she somehow made it enjoyable and I made an A in both the class and lab. She is an awesome teacher just prepare to take a lot of notes and study everything they provide and you will be just fine. WORK IN GROUPS ALL THE TIME.
Mrs. Couch was a really good professor every exam we take the next day she will pass back the exam where we get to redo the 10 hardest question on the exam to earn back some points. Easy A, very nice women she holds review days but there optional to come. You don't have to read the book the reading quizzes are found on quizlet
Worst class I have taken in my college career. Would highly suggest not to take this class or the lab because they are both awful. She gives way to much homework and acts like we have no social life outside of her lecture. All in all by far the worst mistake I ever made was taking her class.
Her class isn't hard, but she will get on your nerves. lots of group work, and she walks around and calls people out like high school. after 2 absences you lose a letter, and to keep this policy during coronavirus she posted roughly 15 45min- hour and a half long videos that you had to watch start to finish for attendance. not my favorite at all
She assigns a lot of reading and outside homework and group projects but the info is easy if you do it. Pay attention during class, and you only get 3 absences until you get dropped a whole letter. Group projects and work is really important. There is 1 book but I haven't looked at it more than once because you can find the reading quizzes online.
This girl is so annoying. She sounds like Minnie Mouse. Boring lectures and doesn't post power points. Treats the class like kids, walks around and stares at you. VERY GROUP WORK HEAVY. You have to pay for an extra program to do assignments, tons of reading quizzes. Lab was super boring too. Don't take FOS unless its required.
She was very boring and was not helpful. If you are failing, don't bother emailing her. She won't respond. Don't bother emailing Mr. Koether either, he will send rude replies. The reviews for the tests were not helpful and the lectures skipped questions on her tests. I would not recommend this professor to anyone.
i definitely do not recommend taking this professor for this course! you will have to calculate your own grade in a complicated grade sheet. she is very slow to respond to emails and when she does, half the time she does not even look into or fix what you reached out for. TAKE A DIFFERENT PROF FOR THIS COURSE!!
Mrs. Couch is an extremely disorganized professor. She makes the tests very hard and has several group projects. Students weren't even given a tentative schedule in the syllabus and had to work on almost a week by week basis. She's also very difficult to reach out to and if you have a problem, she doesn't work with you.
FOS was extremely time consuming. Expect Group case studies and homework, end of the year group project. 9 RQ's (answers on Quizlet), 8 Smartsparrows, and 3 exams. 2 exams were a mix of MC & free/essay response. Last exam was all MC. I remember the second exam being extremely hard. Provides Koether's long lecture videos. Not a great science course.
lord if yall wanna do endless group works and millions of quizzes and tests, so much reading, and calculate your own grades, this is the professor for you. and also uses respondus which is always glitching and accidentally screws your grades and submission. we also had to purchase a smart sparrow which is basically like quizlet for MORE work.
do not take! lots of group work (even during a pandemic). she wasn't in class half the time and when she was it was very disorganized. you don't know what you do until the start of the week. Test 2 was hard af even if you studied hard you failed. not accessible easily out of class. You have to calculate your own grade.
This professor is one of the most annoying ones I have had. She gives out worksheets and make me feel like I am in kindergarten. She has group work everyday and if you are stuck with a group that does not care you will not pass this class. I quite literally hate going to her class. It is not hard if you have a good group.
a good teacher, lots of assignments and extra credit opportunities.
This professor treats the class like they're in 4th grade during lecture and assigns unnecessary amounts of work. Half of the assignments are group-based, and you work with the same group the whole semester. If you pay attention and keep up with the assignments, you'll definitely pass, but this class is not enjoyable at all.
At heart she is a very sweet lady and she is very understanding when you contact her about a problem. She has quite a bit of homework and most of it is group work not a super hard class, but do take notes for the tests.
Prof Couch wasnt the worst professor Ive had but wasnt necessarily the best. Lots of assignments so be sure to be in class. I made As on all of my tests but still finished the class with a C+ because of all of the assignments you have to do. The class isnt that hard but just be ready for lots of group projects that you dont want to miss.
Prof. Couch is very lecture heavy and really big into group projects. Very easy class but if you don't show up, you probably won't pass. Test are easy and lots of assignments, but take good notes and you're guaranteed at least a B. There is a lab with this class and its very easy, just once a week, hopefully you get good TA's.
She was okay. Most of the time her class was unneeded I felt we never did anything important in there for attendance going towards your grade. She also does not round grades up.
Professor Couch is very lecture and homework heavy. If you don't check blackboard, you are guaranteed to miss assignments. LOTS of group work.... like A LOT. She is very nice and easy to work with though. Feels like you are in an elementary school class. If you do your homework, you should be able to pass. Tests are on lockdown browser.
Pretty easy class as long as you study and do the homework. Be sure to come to class cause attendance is part of your grade. You will be put in groups and have some group work throughout the semester. Overall a fun and engaging class.
This class is centered around so much group work, tons of homework, and long boring lectures that she does NOT post. She babies the class and will make you feel like you are in high school again. Also, you have to calculate your OWN grade, just for her to enter your final grade wrong and LATE. It's an easy class just show up...but take Dr.K
HEAVY on the group work. More assignments than average professors, but they are manageable. She has used the same assignments for years, although the book has been updated, so you will likely get things wrong, and it will somehow be your fault. She condescendingly treated the class and made me not want to go, but attendance is graded.
I feel like I was back in high school with this course. She talked to the class like we were children. Attendance was mandatory and lectures were long and boring. There were 3 tests and no final. A lot of group work. The lab that has to be taken with this is also stupid. There is a huge presentation that is worth 200 points.
Couch is honestly an okay professor. Attendance is mandatory and she doesn't post any powerpoints on blackboard unless you give her a flash drive then she will give them to you that way. Mostly everything can be found online. There are probably better professors but she wasn't the worst. Does offer extra credit for tests. Takes a long time to grade
This course is extremely heavy on the group work. The professor is good, she just speaks to the class as if we are children. Expect a lot of assignments, but most can be done ahead of time.
Professor Couch was a good professor. She is very nice and is willing to help when asked. There are a lot of assignments but they are fairly easy.
Couch was a good professor. There is a LOT of group work and some of it has to be done outside of class. She tried her best to make lectures interesting. Very hard to reach outside of class. If you get lucky with a good group, it won't be too bad. All exams are protected online.
Lots of group work but overall great class. Professor couch is super sweet and actually cares about her students and the content she teaches. Just don't forget to do the online homework
Very good professor, there can be a lot of homework but it is easy and the class itself is pretty fun
Shes a great teacher when you actually take the time to get to know her and ask questions. Attendance is mandatory because she doesn't post the slides, but if you happen to miss a day, she's willing to help and give you the slides, via email or flash drive. Tests are easy if you do the reading and if not there's several tries.
If you do not like group work or like relying on other people for your grade, DO NOT TAKE HER! We have group work in there every single day. There are a few things online that are individual, but literally everything in that class is group work. I had a horrible group and I had to do everything for them and they would just feed off of me.
Amazing professor who cares for her students. Couch has three exams with no final. There is weekly homework, but it's not too difficult. The class heavily relies on group work. There is an online book that is used for the weekly reading quizzes that are apart of each unit test. Attendance is mandatory for group exit assignments.
While this is a boring course, Mrs. Couch made the class as light hearted as possible and made it easier to come to class. Only 3 tests, no final. Attendance mandatory, plenty of extra credit opportunities. Assignments are broken up well and tests are not too difficult. I failed the class the first time with a different prof and got an A with her.
Had an absolutely clinically insane person in my group who accused me of bullying and harassing them when I literally did nothing. Talked over me repeatedly while I tried to defend myself. She sided with them. Felt like a Stalinist show-trial. Completely reprehensible behavior.
There is ALOT of work, and she is not always non top of it. Sometimes she will forget to tell you about an assignment. She offers extra credit, but I wish she understood this is not my major like my last prof. She's pretty easy for a science class though, so it's ok. Get ready to study physics and rocks......
She's a nice lady but her lectures can get boring sometimes. You get a lot of information from the textbooks and there are weekly reading quizzes. She also assigns groups at the beginning of the semester and you are stuck with them. There are multiple group assignments. You get points from attendance so show up, otherwise you'll lose points.
I LOVED Mrs. Couch! She makes lecture so fun and she's very caring and understanding. This was one of my favorite classes this semester. There's online assignments and reading quizzes every week, but they are fairly easy. I have only positive things to say about this class!
Overall an amazing person, yes there was always homework but you could always cheat online! She would always let us do group work which made everything so much easier. The lecttures are sometimes confusing but she would always help you, I would recommend professor couch!
I took Professor Couch for Foundations of Science and really enjoyed her class. She makes her lectures very interesting and I really learned a lot in her class. She offers extra credit and there are weekly assignments but they're easy. I would definitely take professor Couch again and highly recommend her.
She's a very sweet professor! Assignments done in class were mostly done in assigned groups. Tests are taken online on lockdown browser but she provided a brief study guide. She tried to make lectures fun but I personally thought they were still boring. The class was overall still really easy.
She was a pretty good professor, you can get side tracked easily because there's not much to do in there but she's not hard at all. Just attend class when you can and do the work in there, then you'll be fine.
Super sweet professor, but A LOT of group work, also for the lab section. Attendance matters; everyone does a peer evaluation after all group work. You get no "group" points if you're absent. Couch will always work with you if you can't attend class for a test; she will make it available online. + many extra credit opportunities available
Honestly, the worst course ever. We talked about fake science, like witches, astrology, and paranormal. You will feel like a preschooler cause she says "eyes and ears please!" Tests are all lockdown browser AND webcam. I had an issue with it and she said I couldn't re-take it cause I did good. She let another student re-take it cause she did bad.
This class was so much work, group projects, reading quizzes, and the stupid online textbook assignments. I honestly learned nothing from this class. I took Intro to Biology, and it was so much easier because my professor treated me like a college student and was organized. Don't get me started on the lab group project!
I personally didn't like her, I think she's fit better for a grade school teacher, but she's not a bad teacher. There's a good amount of homework, but it's all easy. Lots of group work. As long as you go to class you'll be fine, but study for the tests.
Mrs. Couch is a nice professor and I don't like biology but her class was fun. She's supper nice and gives extra credit all the time. It is not mandatory to show up but you will receive 3-7 points EVERY-TIME you attend class. You will work in groups and her assignments are very easy to complete!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!
This class has stayed with me the most throughout college. You will learn about many interesting things in a very fun way. Exams are kind of hard, but if you study you will be okay.
Don't expect much out of this class, most of it is taught through your text book or Professor Koethers videos. She sounds if she is on her way out. Keeping up with assignments is hard because she groups them together in blackboard. Very death by power point heavy so strap in for a long class.
Death by power point, she seems as if she is just waiting for another job to pop up from what she explained to us about her husband and kids. Definitely get the bear kat bundle as you read a lot and do online blackboarding a lot. Mostly taught by power point or Dr. Koether's videos so strap in.
She is a very sweet lady, but I feel like she'd be a better grade school teacher. The class is a lot of notes and a LOT of work, but that makes it easier to have a good grade in case you do poorly on an exam. Don't take this class if your other courses give a lot of work. Love professor couch though!
Couch was such a sweet and fair professor! You're allowed to miss 6 days, and almost everything can be found in BB. 3 tests total, and no final. The class is a mixture of individual and group assignments, so sit next to people wisely b/c it can affect your grade. The class teaches you the basics of most science corses, as a BS major it was great.
Many online assignments but (easy) Weekly hw/quizzes (super easy) Theres 3 exams (lockdown) through the course so no final. You have to go class to get participations points but can miss up to 4 days before it affects your grade. Theres a mixture of group and individual work but fairly easy. As a non-science major this class was nice 10/10
Professor Couch was a lovely lady. The lectures and exams are not hard. There is another professor who is grading you as well, but he is rarely present; his name is Professor Koether. Both are great at communicating with you for questions; there is a lockdown browser, and there is a lab you are required to go to every week.
Professor Couch was a very nice person. Her class however was super disorganized. The grading is so confusing you barely know what you have because she took 2 months to put some grades in. Attendance is graded. Exams are LockDown. Also, good luck if you end up in a group that people don't show up. Overall, I don't recommend this course.
