Pretty fun teacher to have. Nice to listen to. Sometimes it can be difficult class but she grades very fair. I would reccomend.

this class has tons and tons of reading involved in it, so only take it if you love to read and you read fast. she is very fair with her grading and her writing assignments. it is a lot of work and it comes at you pretty fast, but she is very helpful and fair.

Dr. Duerden is a great instructor. She is willing to work with students who do poorly on essays and she inderstands that students do not read all of the novels all of the time. She does not give quizzes on readings and always gives a journal assignment that can be done without actually finishing the novel. Great teacher. Highly recommended.

She is really helpful and funny. Very personable and the work is not really too hard.

Fun to listen to, helpful outside of classroom, and will encourage you with a smile to improve your writing. Interesting to talk to outside of class too. Loves The Rolling Stones.

she is incrediblu helpful if you take the time to go see her. If you do the owrk she asks ( Which is not hard and very relavent) you will do just fine.

Her Magazine writing class was really well done and I felt like I was getting the same treatment as I would from a Journalism class in the same subject. She's funny and clear in her instructions. She does present things from a Rhetorical standpoint, but it doesn't seem to to bog down the class too much.

Dr. Duerden is easy, fun, and tried to make this class as simple as possible. Papers are a breeze, she makes you do heuristics to find all the content, and her final is a even easier. If you put the effort there's no reason why you shouldn't get the A.

The ENG101 class is by no means difficult, homework takes at most an hour and a half per class session. For essays, you're given prewriting exercises, and then given two classes with only incomplete drafts due, and those aren't graded. Dr. Duerden is very friendly, and the class material is fairly interesting. An excellent choice for this course.

Fun teacher. Love her British humor. 4 papers, writing final. Papers are easy because she helps you step by step. Final was simple. Will have homework after every class but it's not difficult. Can redo one paper.

This is my second time taking her class and I have no regrets. She's extermly helpful during&office hours, attend class, format your paper the way she likes it and its and easy A per paper, 4 assignments, easy final, you can't do wrong taking Dr. Duerden. (English accent also permits witty humour from time to time :-p)

Really helpful if you are trying. Put an effort into this class and you'll do good. Not too much home work but we have it after almost every class. Sit down and do it, it'll take less than 45 minutes max, and I am a slow reader. She is also quite humorous, plus she has a British accent. I'd recommend the class.

Prof Duerden is an absolute blast. Her style makes the class extremely easy and interesting. Homework everyday but its not too difficult. Go to her OH to get feedback on your essays and she flat our tells you what you need to do to get an A on the paper.

One of the best instructors I've ever had. Extremely helpful and encouraging. She really wants her students to succeed. Not too hard to do well-- put forth effort and an A is definitely feasible. She is so comical as well! This was my second time having her as a professor (also had her for Review Writing). You won't be disappointed!

Prof. Duerden is a great professor. At first the heuristic assignments seemed pointless but as the semester went on they were an important tool that solidified my way of dissecting an article. She is always available for any type of assistance. She is a lovely human and an amazing professor. I've already enrolled w/ her for next semester.

Had Dr. Duerden for ENG 101 and 102. She is very knowledgeable and a good teacher. She doesn't hand out A's, she makes you earn your grade, but it helps! Assignments have a distinct purpose and structure, which helped out to learn the concepts. Great teacher, I would recommend her very much.

Professor Duerden is by far my favorite professor at ASU. I wouldn't say she is a hard professor at all, she makes her students earn their grade. Her assignments are all essays, and you sure do learn how to write a good essay. Great office hours, very friendly and helpful, highly recommend.

My favorite teacher so far at ASU, definitely one of the best here. Her Popular Periodical Writing class made ASU worth it. She helps everyone so much with their writing and ensures they all know what they're doing.

Duerden is my favorite professor at ASU. She is very friendly, willing to help, and really makes students learn how to write well. If you enjoy writing more than math, you will love this class. I credit all of my essays in college to what I learned in this class. Again, awesome professor.

Class is pretty easy and she is a nice lady. The class was about pop-culture which made it interesting. You have to write a paper every couple of weeks but they are not too bad and she is pretty fair with the grading.

Great professor. She will help you if you want to do well in the class. She gives ample opportunity to review your parts of your papers. Absolutely nothing bad to say. Just bring up how much you enjoy watching Doctor Who and you you'll get an "A"*. *In addition to doing all the classwork and showing up to class.

Dr. Duerden is such a sweet lady! She clearly tells student exactly what she expects in assignments and is always willing to work with students to help them out if they are struggling. Reading material was also interesting. I would absolutely recommend her!

Dr. Duerden is an awesome teacher! She is from England so she has an accent, but you can clearly understand her, and this makes her jokes even funnier. She is very helpful so be sure to ask questions and visit her during her officer hours. There is nightly homework, but the assignments help you tremendously for when it comes time to do tan essay.

This is the class to take if you want to improve your writing. Dr. D doesn't let you get away with anything, but she'll help you with everything. Fantastic instructor.

Dr. D is amazing! I had no interest level going in to this class and she made it fun for me. I got an A, and she really helped me to be a better writer. She cares about each student and is very understanding to problems. She let me re-write one of my exams when I did it wrong the first time with no penalty to my grade.

Pretty easy class if you DO ALL THE WORK. I didn't visit her during office hours but from my interaction with her during class, I feel she would have definitely been helpful if you need any help. Class itself is pretty boring and work feels tedious though.

Really easy class. Three essays with evaluations after. Peer-reviews and time in class to work on essays. Usually 6 heuristics per essay. Very nice and helpful.

One of the easiest classes I've taken. Stick to the essay requirements and you will get an A.

While there is a lot of work that comes along with Dr. D's class, I still think she's absolutely worth taking if you have the opportunity. These extra assignments help big time with the big essays you write, and are easy ways to boost your grade as long as you do them. Overall, she's a great prof with an even better British accent. Take her!!!

She's got a British accent which already makes her awesome. She cracks a lot of jokes and tries hard to make the class the least boring it could possibly be. Easy A if you show up to class and put an honest effort into your writing.

This review writing class was interesting and I recommend taking it! It's fun to write reviews on your favorite places. Duerden has a good amount of homework, but it helps with the reviews that you'll write. She replies quick to e-mails and is very understanding.

Sarah is one of the sweetest professors I have ever had. There are only three papers, and she divides each one so it doesn't feel like you are writing an essay. She made english easier for me, and I really enjoyed her class. She takes attendance for points.

Dr. Duerden is one of my favorite professors I have ever had!! She makes writing papers super easy, helps you out if you need it, and genuinely cares that you are doing a good job! If you have the opportunity, have her as your teacher, plus she has a British accent so why wouldn't you?! So sad she isn't teaching ENG102!

She is one of the best professors out there! I came to university thinking that english would be difficult for me but she knows how to make writing paper very fun. She assignes a lot of articles to read and respond with a summary but the articles were very fascinated to read. TAKE HER CLASS! YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!

Helpful and enthusiastic. She has a British accent that you will quickly adapt to. Her assignments prepare you for business situations. Papers are weekly but tend to be short. She's a loving person who truly cares about her students. I highly recommend taking this professor.

We wrote 3 papers, but the weeks leading up to the paper, the in class assignments basically wrote it for you. She is very funny - she is British so sometimes her accent is difficult to understand but over all a really great teacher. Do your work in class.

Professor Duerden is really great! You basically work on all of the assignments in class and she pretty much holds your hand through the entire process. Make sure you read the book ,because she gets angry and gives pop quizzes if you don't. She really cares about your success. This class is super easy to pass.

Easy good grade, Dr. Duerden is amazing. 3 essays, each on articles read for class, about really interesting topics very current in today's world. 3 heuristics before each essay that practically right your paper for you. She genuinely cares about her students, and she brings some cool insight since she is British.

It is important to stay after just for a little bit if you get a grade that you want to improve because she will tell you exactly what you need to do for the next time. She is very caring and offers great advice as well as "heuristics" to make writing easier.

SHE HAS A BRITISH ACCENT! Hearing her talk is a breath of fresh air. This is honestly the most useful class that you will definitely use throughout your adult life. She prepares you well on real world expectations and really wants her students to do their best. Just apply what you learned from lessons to the hw and you'll get a 100% in the class

Such a useful course and Dr. D is very helpful with each course concept. Most of the lectures are spent in breakout rooms but all of the work is useful and with each assignment, you're given many opportunities to receive feedback.

All her assignments are made to help you write your paper. Bc of that I could write my papers in 1 day and I got 100 each time. Do the assignments well so you can just make everything flow together later. textbook was needed for each essay (3)

One of my favorite professors by far. Although this course can seem project-heavy, Dr. D does a great job at breaking it down step by step to make it seem less daunting. Her accent makes class 10x better. Definitely take her!!

Professor Duerden is a great professor and one of my favorites. Whether or not you are good at writing, you will learn so much in this class that can help you in your career. All assignments build on top of each other to help you do the bigger assignments and this helps you to not procrastinate in this class or fall behind. She gives good feedback!

Dr. Duerden's class was great! She makes the assignments easy to understand and doesn't grade too toughly. She grades fast and includes comments which are helpful in improving your understanding. She's a bit boring to listen to but is sometimes funny if you pay attention to her jokes. Attendance is very important.

Liberal but very nice & English accent. No late grades, but if you email with a decent reason, she'll almost always give an extension or let you turn it in late. Amazing feedback & gives sources for your paper. If you follow the feedback, you'll probably get a really good grade.

Very funny British lady. Only three papers for the whole semester, and they're split into parts throughout the whole semester. Cool topics to read about since they're about our generation, and she basically tells you exactly what to fix on drafts. Lowk monotone tho, fell asleep a few times. Do the work and ur chillin. Also don't buy the textbook.

Duerden was a very good professor, I believe she gives more work than other ENG 302 professors however the feedback she gives you on all your work makes it to get easy to get an A in this class.

Dr. D is phenomenal. Her class was super easy bc it's ENG102, but she made it my favorite humanities class I'd ever taken in my life. I'm a STEM major, and so English was always a drag for me, but she came up with fun assignment topics, gave us a ton of time to work on projects, and gave amazing feedback. She's super nice and caring. Easy 10/10

Professor Duerden's class is not hard at all. She breaks down each assignment so you don't feel rushed, and she gives plenty of time before they're due. She always assigns online peer-reviews for your papers, and also provides feedback on your rough drafts. Definitely take her class if you don't want too much work!

Took this as a sophomore, if you have the ability to take it sooner than your other junior level courses, do it. It's a time commitment if you want to get an A. Make her suggested revisions and you're guaranteed a good grade. Feedback on everything, she was so nice. Nice course to ease me into my junior year. Got a 97% on the final.

She give amazing feedback and knows how to run a class. She's a fair grader and you should always consider the feedback that she gives you as it often helps your writer immensely. I was helped so much figuring out how I want to structure my essay, and what direction I want to take with my essay. Each assignment helps towards your paper.

Great professor and easy class, just be ready for some very degrading comments about your writing, and she always expects you to be kind of mean in your writing.

Hybrid class MW, very nice teacher. Graded based on heuristic assignments + discussion boards, and 3 different essays. It was a well-balanced class; I didn't read the online textbook at all. Instead of a final, there is a course evaluation essay. She takes attendance for every class. Very easy to pass with an A.

If you need to take ENG 302, you should pick Professor Duerden to be your professor. She was the best professor I've had so far at ASU. The class is very easy with one to two homework assignments a week that are very simple. The class itself was very engaging and hands on. I learned a lot and really enjoyed the Professor.

Dr. Duerden is awesome. 4 absences are permitted, but I really recommend showing up. Her directions are incredibly thorough and clear, and she is a very fair grader. Dr. D always gives plenty of useful feedback: apply it! Definitely going to miss having her as a professor.

All the homework builds up to help with the essays and the essays are not hard at all. As long as you make sure you understand the prompt you'll do great. Definitely have to come to class though as only 4 absences and can't be excused under any circumstances. It's some kind of policy for English classes or something allegedly.
