doesnt teach very well
Sarah George is a new teacher has a lot to improve. She gives a lot of homework which she randomly checks. This is inconsistent and anoying. Her quizes are hard. I'm a 4.0 student and to keep it that way I dropped her class.
You never know when she is going to check homework. Forgets how to do her own problems. Goes so fast, half the class is left behind. Seems willing to help but you have to wait for the rest of the class that does as well.
I've heard people complain about her, but I thought she explained things very well. She can be a little touchy and picky, she takes off points for the littlest thing, but I took her for Mac1105 and chose to take her again for Trig.

Not good at explaining and not very helpful
Great teacher. Assigns lots of homework but will always spend time with people in her office. I thought she had a pretty effective teaching style.
She is a good teacher. Allows for a lot of extra points. Don't think you can get away with not doing the homework and still get an A. She drops the lowest quiz and if you score higher on the final than any test it will replace the lowest grade.
very good teaching style, those who think she's hard is because they don't do their h.w.; and expect her to do the work for you....great teacher
very bad teaching style, those who do their h.w. still get graded unfairly, and she does'nt do anything for the students. She is an awful teacher.
She was not a very good teacher...ended up dropping her class. Says "does that make sense?" way too much. Well, I guess it didn't make sense!
Good teacher, grades hard, marks off a lot of points...
very hard and very unhelpful. grades lab work before section is taught. she can not even work out the homework that she assigns. Blamed her poor attitude on being pregnant. She felt like she was doing a favor by "trying" to teach us. Overall she
Mrs.George grades hard and if you get a 79.5, you get a Cplus in her class.
Awesome teacher. I thought I would fail the class, b/c she is strict with grading...who isn't? Do the homework and extra credit. It will determine C+vs.B. Spend time in the math lab or her office in the begining instead of in the end when u r panicin
Great teacher. Assigns a lot of homework, but only because she wants you to learn the material. Grades a little harsh, but does allow more than a few bonus points during the semester. She is more than willing to take time out on the side to help you out.
This teacher is not good, do not take her. She expects you to learn math on your own while practicing on worksheets, then she grades the worksheets.
I wouldn't take her again. She's not very enthusastic and from what I've been told about other college algebra classes, she's teaching us stuff that belongs in a pre-calc class.
good teacher. laid back.
she was hard and gave alot of work, but is pretty tough!
THIS TEACHER WAS VERY DIFFICULT. SHE MOVES VERY QUICKLY THROUGH THE MATERIAL WITHOUT MUCH PRATICE BESIDES THE ASSIGNED HOMEWORK WHICH SHE ONLY GOES OVER IF YOU ASK. HER TEACHING METHOD MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO TAKE NOTES-ONLY TEACHES THE MATERIAL BY DOING 1 OR 2 PROBLEMS.
Extremely hard class, have to know the all the equations, she is very helpful and offers some, not a lot, of extra credit. Let her help you and you will understand the material much better. As good as any math teacher at SFCC.
Too hard, kind of boring
She is an extremely hard teacher. She is very fast with the notes. She expects a lot out of the student. This wasy my first time ever taking trig if you are not cofortable with teachering yourself or just with trig to begin with i suggest you take someone else don't take her.
She is extremely hard! She expects you to memorize every formula. You can do almost every problem with the calculator, but she will not show you how. I was going to drop this course, but she told me to stay, and then still failed me!
She is boring and doesn't offer help unless you come to her during office hours. She expects you to do worksheets without help and then grades them everyday. Wouldn't take her, and she also makes you sit for the whole entire class period and sometimes runs overtime! She looks like she just woke up!
A lot of work, but I tried hard and will recieve an A or B. You are motivated you can do it.
She doesn’t allow a “cheat sheet” or calc. tricks. I even worked with a tutor who teaches Stats. He checked my worksheet & said it was perfect -- wasn’t good enough for her. I suck at math but I went to class, did all my work & worked with a tutor & still failed. She is VERY hard! Take Mike Hodge.
She teaches with extremely easy examples and then gives the most outrageously hard tests. Not much extra credit. Takes off for petty details.
Do not take this teacher! She doesnt let you have a cheat sheet although all the other teachers do, more work than other teachers, and no make up under no circumstances! It was a horrible semester.

As long as you do the homework and ask questions when you don't understand, you'll do fine.
I would have to concur with all the other reviews here. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS. Her stats class is the only class I have ever withdrawn from.
Bone up! The class can get you left behind. IF ya don't wanna fail, be prepared with you material for every class. Take advantage of her extra credit if she offers it, and above all study your book!
Not a very good teacher if you have trouble with math.
very helpful
She is very difficult! She never shows how to do problems on the calculator, instead makes you memorize all formulas. I wanted to drop the class, but she told me to stay and still gave me a D. The class started with about 40 students, but only about 10 students were left to take the final! If possible do not take her!

Races through the material like Seabiscuit but is very helpful if you need it and doesn't get frustrated with questions. Overall...I'd take her again.
Goes pretty fast. But will help you out if you go to the office. Doesn't cover all questions in class regardless if anyone understands or not. Tests are hard but stats isnt the easiest class in the world. Takes off for petty things but uses point system. Thought i was failing and wound up with a c
excellent teacher, but you have to pay attention.
very hard does not review much or tell you what types of problems will be on the test. Do not take her if you are serious about passing mac 1140.
Very Picky
Mrs. George was really nice. She was very helpful if you came in to get help during her office hours. The class was ok, I like math and this class was a real struggle. I worked very hard to make a C. But I know others who made A's. Mainly she goes REALLY FAST. She explains the material a mile a minute. Notes are important in this class.
I actually liked this teacher a lot. She is hard, but she was very helfull and i actually learned the material well. I would definetly take her again. I dont recomend her for non math majors.
She was great. The only problem was having to do homework, she checked worksheets and that brought my grade down to a b+. She moves fast but is clear. Would take her again any time for any math class
this teacher was really good. Hard but helpfull. I learnt the material well
very tough yet very helpful, which sucks cause my friends are taking the same class with another teacher and that teacher puts the formulas on the test.
She's a very nice lady, however her class and her grading is difficult! She is wiling to help but i just dont get math. a lot of note taking, but she gives worksheets to help learn which i like. If your not to good at math, like me, i would prob find someone else with an easier grading system. If your good then i would take her bc she is very nice!
Homework is optional for extra credit. She assumes people know everything she is talking about. She grades tests heavily, only 3. She has no emotion, so she is very boring. But just because the stuff is easy, dont think you dont need to do the homework.
She rambles at a million miles an hour on how to do the problem, then turns towards the class to see if there are any questions. Her lectures suck and the wa she holds handouts in front of her as if we can see what she is pointing at is really freaking annoying. I am regretting taking this class, thank god my wife is a master's student and just too
Don't ever take this crazy lady and might be ****. You will fail if you take her. The worst math teacher in the world. Never ever take her class or else murked.
Its funny, I guess there are two married men in her class! I have to disagree with the other guy. Mrs. George gives you the opportunity to do good in her class, just do the work do the work. Look, this is my first time on this site and I gotta tell ya, I have never heard so much wining. College is hard, do the work and you will do fine.
Her class is tough, her tests are tough but she offers a ton of chances to get good grades on assignments to make up for it. Do all the homework study hard for the tests and you will get a B. If you don't do those things you need to drop out and wash dishes.
DO NOT TAKE Professor George at SFCC. She comes off cool in the beginning to her the numbers up in class but then doesn't help the students by misleading you. She sets you up to to do bad. Try your chances on another prof.
I had no choice but to drop this class. Possibly the worst teacher I have ever had in my life.
Mrs. George is a great teacher, she is hard but very clear during her lessons. She gives plenty of opportunities to get a good grade and as long as you do the homework and all her worksheets the class will go smoothly.
This teacher is excellent. she is one of the best teachers I had. the class is hard but as long as you do the worksheets the homework sand u attend every day u will make an A very easily.
Mrs. George is an excellent teacher. She is knowledgable on her subject and wants you to learn. She grades fairly, but she is tough. You have to be a good student and you have to be prepared to do a LOT of work in her class.
Professor George is one of the worst teachers I have ever had. She does teach well, but she is not a nice person. She puts the hardest problems on all of the tests and quizzes. My advice to anyone is not to take her. I just finished my final and it was the most difficult test I have ever taken. Avoid taking her at all costs... shes the worst!!
Very difficult class, made even more difficult by the amount of handouts, homework, assignments and projects all on top of each other. Mrs. George does make herself available in the office, but her teaching method is confusing and very fast.
The professor was good, but the class was SO HARD! I've never taken such a hard class. I'd recommend Mrs. George because she's sweet and helpful, but don't take statistics if you can at all help it. It seems easy at first, and then all of a sudden your grade drops drastically. Hated the class, loved the professor.
Good teacher, but extremely hard. I studied 15-20 hrs per week and still made a C! She makes you memorize everything, which in the real world is not something you need to know. I made all A's on labs, HW and semester project, but tests were horrendous. I've heard other teachers are not this hard and include formulas on tests or allow a study card.
She gives examples in class, and then the questions given on her tests are 10 times harder. not only are they hard, but they're usually ones that we haven't covered and are not in the textbook.
Not an easy class. I'm not very good at math to begin with but this class just got my spirits down about the subject even more. She's a nice lady, knows her stuff, and she'll help you out but she gives out so much work to do that you barely have time to study for the tests so you end up failing.
if you have are a math major, then take this class. If you struggle with math, doooooo noooot take this class. She is a good teacher, but asks very different difficult questions on test then what is studied in class. study very hard if you do take this class.
george is hard. the pre-calc course is hard. we covered examples in class, but not what was on tests. never goes over formulas, and gets stuff wrong while giving examples. gets confusing.
In this class you don't even have time to breath. It is work from the time you sit in till after the class has already ended plus 5 min because she never stops teaching. IDK If its the curriculum but wow this class blows. Be Ready to tough it out. She seem nice but she is wuff.
Statistics is not an easy subject, so pay attention. She's a fun teacher and does her job well, but there's a lot of work. Study everything she hands back to you because it all counts. I'd take her again.
I really like math, and I have enjoyed her class. She uses handouts to teach, rather than you reading the textbook. Homework, when checked is extra credit. I do it to understand better. She is really helpful and teaches statistics well! Great professor! I'd take her again! Be sure to study everything, and you will do well!
Ms. George is awesome! She's an excellent math teacher. She's younger so she knows how to relate to students and she really cares about her students. She is extremely helpful in office hours and really nice to you. You have to attend class, do your homework, and study for tests if you want to pass. She puts her notes online, and it's helpful!
I would not recommend her, I have always done good in math and blew through college algebra with an A and i had to drop her class because i was failing. Her test questions don't match what she teaches in class and asks you to do homework she hasn't taught you yet. I know multiple other people that also had to drop her class.
there is a lot of content in this class and I recommend the 3 day a week schedule. 20 hours of studying a week was barely enough to get an A- because her quiz and test questions were much tougher than what was in th preferred homework and what was reviewed in class. She is very helpful outside of class though and really wants you to do well.
Professor George is an amazing math teacher, especially in Calc.2. Her notes are very clear, she explains steps and always asks if the process was clear. She does a lot examples in her notes.do the HW she assigns is MANDATORY, plus she does random hw checks for extra credit. Go to her office and do the work and you will have a great time :)
Don't take this class. Worst idea ever. Very difficult to keep up with the amount of information to memorize.
I found her to be very available during office hours, which helped a ton! She was nice, tests weren't terribly hard, and homework was served as extra credit if you reminded her. I didn't end up with an A, but that was my personal fault. I wouldn't mind taking her again if I could.
Mrs. George is really nice, but incredibly difficult. Her tests are much more complicated than the material in class and she moves very, very quickly. If you have not had trig before, do not take her class.
Mrs. George is a a pretty tough teacher, although I think that she'ss a very good professor, her test material is pretty hard. You must attend class & doing the homework is very helpful. I'm sure there's no way to pass her class if you don't do either. She's very helpful in her office hours if you're having trouble with anything.
Mrs George knows her stuff but goes very fast and the material is very hard, so that is not a good combination. She expects a lot out of you. More work than any other college class I've ever taken.I am a straight A student and I got a C. Enough said.
Mrs. George is awesome! The class can be challenging but her lectures and notes make everything easy. She is very passionate about statistics so she can be picky about details when grading. It was fun going to class and she was very helpful in office hours.
She's not the worst you can do at Santa Fe. She seems disorganized with her teaching but she doesn't lose papers. She's fair with grading but she explains the technical steps not the concepts. Most of her examples are straight out of the book.
I love her she was helpful as long as you went to class. she gives you lecture notes to fill out. As long as you do those and the book work with a little studding you should do great.
Mrs. George was one of my favorite teachers ever. She is entertaining in the classroom and always knows how to explain the material so that everyone is satisfied. She answers all questions and I always felt like I learned a lot in each class and really understood what I was talking about. Not the easiest but if you pay attention you're great.
First, she'll teach the class a tough topic you'll do a few easy problems in class and come back the next day and all of a sudden we don't have time to go back over those topics. You always have to go to office hours to get an explanation for the simplest things. She goes a mile per minute in her explanations, and she loses your worksheets.
She is a great teacher. You should show up to class, and study daily if you want to pass. Especially since she is a tough grader.
Although she's a GREAT professor, her grading is very challenging. She doesn't grade on effort so if you're as bad as I am with math, take another professor. It's all based on accuracy, so all the hwlabs have to be perfect. She makes things seem easy in class but the subject is just hard so you have to work hard to succeed outside of class too.
Avoid like the plague, I did every homework assignment and studied for hours for her test and still got a D+. Her tests are full of tricks and worded to trip you up then she grades them like she's trying to fail you. If you are a math expert already, take this class. If you need concepts explained thoroughly take someone else.
If you're not strong in math, I wouldn't take her. I like her because she does go very in depth and gives good note handouts. If you skip or don't pay attention during class you are going to do very poorly. You get out what you put into this class. Tests are very tough, you need a good fundamental understanding of the material.
If you don't care about your GPA, congrats!! You've chosen the right professor for you. Don't care when your assignments are graded, you're in luck!! This professor takes WEEKS to grade. OH, and if you like going home after a lecture and digging through a textbook because your professor will not help you, YAY! You are in the right class! BRAVO.
Really really regret taking her. She's very nice, but her class is extremely hard. There are many other professors where you can study way less and make a much better grade than you can in her class. She takes forever to grade and her tests are very difficult. Straight A student and I'm really struggling in her class. Please take another teacher
I was really disappointed in our professor for not helping us out more. Our class averages for 2 out of the 3 exams was a 50%... And they were NOT curved. I feel like she has to know she isn't reaching the majority of her class if our averages are that bad. I used UF study edge to prepare for these exams and still failed miserably. Don't take her.
This professor has horrible grading techniques. If you screw up a very minor thing on an exam, expect the whole answer to be wrong. She expects her students to memorize lengthy formulas, write them out, and complete a test in 50 minutes. Don't bother asking her for help in class, she will just tell you to figure it out. Thanks for ruining my GPA!:)
I wouldn't recommend. When she lecturing it seems like your getting it. Then you take her tests are fail. She gives out practice questions for test and then give you just the numerical answer and not every step that she wants you to write on the test. She doesn't care if you fail even if you go to class and show effort. I would just stay away..
Did the hw/assignments & did well b/c I took notes& went to office hours. The prob. w/ this class is it's only 50 mins long & ppl don't put in the effort to REALLY learn the material & ask questions that waste time. Mrs. George is a great professor, the class is challenging, b/c it's college. Don't let lazy students stop you from taking this class.
If you have a decent enough understanding of Calc 1 & 2, you will be fine in this class. Prof George tends to move pretty fast but is also very clear. You may need to study outside of class to better understand the material. HW is extra credit so it gives some incentive to practice.
Her example problems we do in class are super easy, but the practice problems are much harder. Shes inconsistent and a bit too strict. She had to clear the memory off of every calculator in the room before we could take our test which we only had 50 minutes for (she was late 10 minutes for the test on top). She isn't prompt about grading, either.
Probably one of the worst professor ever. DO NOT TAKE HER. TERRIBLE TERRIBLE.
Really nice, but cannot teach at all. She tends to teach things after she gives you and makes you turn in graded assignments. Also, she doesn't have a set list of homework or what's due, she just hands out a bunch of packets and expects you to know what is due. This is the first class that I do not have an A in, so RIP my GPA.
There is ALWAYS something to do for this class even though she tell you "homework isn't mandatory". That only applies to what she calls "homework" not all the work you have to do outside of class. Class got canceled twice and she made us make up the work on our own time too. She goes fast and doesn't really teach you anything, she just shows you.
I understand that it's college and it's not supposed to be easy, but she really isn't a good teacher at all... she's way to strict on grading, wouldn't let me move my exams after I told her I had two other exams on the same day. I have never struggled so hard in class before in my LIFE. This is the only class I had no choice but to drop.
I did not like this class. I just did not like her teaching style. It was also difficult to keep up with all the assignments and spot checks.
Her class and homework assignments make you feel you have grasped the concepts, but exams prove otherwise. Very tough on grading, no true curve in the class. Good luck passing. Class grade average is C- to F with one A. I wish someone had told me not to take her, but also appears my other options of professors aren't so great as well.
She moves extremely fast! She doesn't spend the appropriate time explaining examples. Sometimes there is no time to copy from the board. Her labs and tests are super hard. Tests worth like 80% of the grade. More than half of the class had to drop. Also she did a "mini final" which told us just 2 days in advance..
I think Professor George is probably one of the best, if not the best, teachers I have ever had. She explains the material well, but doesn't go to slow. At the same time you should probably study outside of class to get a good grasp of the material. She is really helpful in office hours and answers your questions well.
There are few really good professors and Sarah is the one.
I honestly didnt like her for PreCalc and could only take her for Calc 1 I love her though best professor for calc. Shes challenging, smart, and understanding when you need it most. Totally take her again and highly recommend her!
I've taken Prof. George for Calc 1 and Stats now, and she's a really great math prof. as long as you're really ready to learn the material. Not an easy A, but if you actually want to come away from the class knowing math, she's the way to go. Office hours every day, go to them! Tests are weighted heavily, not much extra credit given either.
Great professor. Some students have gripes with how strict she can be(requiring limits be noted for example),but that is perfectly fair in a subject where a + or - can completely alter an answer. She writes her own handouts/packets for study, sample exams, and has been very helpful during office hours. I would definitely take this professor again
Professor George is not helpful when you don't understand the material. Her tests are also much harder than her homework assignments. She also grades very slowly and you do not know exactly how you are doing until mid-semester. Dual enrollments students beware! Hard to get a good grade and I like math. Web assignments are on a different website.
The most difficult problems she will explain them in class. The easiest ones you will see them on the test.
The only downside about this class is that she doesn't currently have a Calc 2 class. She's funny, and makes sure that you see all of the applications for all of the math you learn in the real world. You can tell it's her passion and that she is loves to share it with others. Lastly, Calc is all about doing all of the little things. Do all hw.
She doesn't deserve 3 (over quality), I know that. Greatest person of all times
I took MAC.1140 with her last semester and she was really good. I loved her explanations. There is not much extra credit so be careful with missing homeworks. She had her own book for notes which I found really useful for studying. Recommend to take her if you want to learn.
I did not enjoy George at all. Her tests are so much harder than the homework assignments and the examples in class. She is such a tough grader. She marks off lots of points for something so minor. She doesn't even explain things well and she doesn't give any extra credit. Would not take again.
Very good teacher during lectures, gives lots of homework so you understand the material. Very nice notes packet which is the structure of the class. Extremely difficult grader, if you do everything perfect you will get 4.5/5 on labs. Hard teacher, but you will learn the material. Very nice lady, she is engadging in class, if you skip... good luck
She's a great professor, and you can tell she is knowledgeable in math and enjoys talking about the subject. However, I think she expects the same from the students, which makes the class very challenging. Her exams were extremely hard, with most people struggling with them (in the honors section). Take her if you like math & are up for a challenge
She assigns way more hw and assignments than the regular classes, she rushes through material without providing examples, she talks down to students (completely unintentionally, however she speaks in a 'sing song' voice when explaining things). PLEASE READ: THIS IS BY FAR THE HARDEST CLASS I HAVE EVER TAKEN. AVOID THIS CLASS AT ALL COSTS.
Sarah George has done one thing for me and that is showing me the importance of Checking rate my professor before I enroll in a class. Insanely difficult and I am good at math and used to enjoy it. You could get every answer right on a test and get a 50 for incorrect notation. Excessively hard
On all her test, quizzes and homeworks, you'll encounter problems which she has never explained before! Her Quizzes and tests include a quantity of problems that are impossible to solve in the given time unless you rush throught it. You have to attend 2-3 zoom meetings and watch 2-3 lecture videos which all last an hour and 1/2 every week!!
Professor George is a very rough teacher when it comes to grading. She grades very hard and if you miss any symbols, you will get points deducted. I would also like to say that she is very nice and caring and if you need help she will 100% be there but she gives a lot of work and labs to do. Hard teacher and hard grader but nice person.
This class is HARD. If you are an engineering student that likes to skate through classes avoid this one. Her exams are harder than those that my friend at UF has and my other friend at SF. She is a really tough grader, is full throttle during lectures 100% of the time, and assigns A LOT of HW every week. She knows her stuff but expects perfection.
I love how meticulous Prof. George is. This is a hard, large subject; do not expect to have an easy/not tough grader here. The only problem: a sea of homework, BUT the complexity of it deserves it. Only recommendation: do not take the course if you are enrolled in more than 3 other courses already. Passing with her means that you actually learnt.
Professor George is a great math teacher, but a very hard professor. She assigns a lot of homework. Although her exams are hard, they're the most well written math exams I've ever taken, and they will assess that you've actually learned the material. You will need to put in a lot of hours studying if you'd like to get an A.
Took Differential Equations with Prof. George, and despite the class itself being hard material, she made it understandable and was always willing to answer questions and explain things differently to help you understand. Really great professor, I definitely recommend her.
She teaches the material very thoroughly and is a good teacher. If you have questions she'll be able to answer them very well. The only issue is she moves at lightning speed. If you're a slow learner maybe this class isn't for you. The perfect word to describe the class is intense. Get ready for a heavy workload and material with some difficulty.
There are 3 exams + the final (70% of the grade). There is HW due 3 times a week and each one will take you about 1.5-2 hours to complete. Usually there is a video lesson or two due per week. Also, there is a lab due every week and a quiz about every other week. So, a lotttt of hw. SUPER tough grader!! Don't take her unless no other choice!
Professor George was very effective at conveying the course material to me in class. She is tough on due dates and has regular homework assignments. However the homework really helped me learn the materials and having strict due dates reduced my procrastination. I would take her in any class, but the disclaimer is you have to be committed to pass.
She is a great professor and I learned a lot in her class, but it's definitely difficult. Her personality is great, she's a lovely person. Make sure to take your labs seriously! The exams are similar in terms of the free-response questions. Also, show up to class! If you make an effort to learn and go to office hours she'll likely curve your grade.
Professor was great, definitely retained the material. A lot of work around the labs, but I probably just procrastinated a lot. She makes it difficult and it is (because its calc 2) but definitely a good class considering how hard the material can get.
Professor George is notoriously tough, but if you put in the work, you'll learn a lot. Expect a heavy workload with tons of homework and challenging exams. unstuckstudy was a lifesaver for preparing.
Really good lecturer but VERY tough grader, make sure to do all the homework assignments because they add up in the end. Apart from that, you will learn the content well with her.
She is very kind and willing to help students, so going to office hours is a must! The workload though, was extremely overwhelming, and too much for an intro class. She grades very harshly as well, so you must put a lot of work in the class. Homework would take at least 12 hours a week. Be prepared for a challenge
While she seems fairly easy to understand, many of the students in that class had her previously, so she often recalled "as we did last semester." It felt like she was too reliant on her previous students knowing her methods, often skipping over proofs and never reviewing.
She really is a great professor. This was my first class outside of high school and you can tell she cares so much about math and is really passionate. There are lots of drops so it's easy to get a good grade. She is a very tough grader and notation matters.
Professor George's class is by no means a cakewalk; she is a tough grader and assigns a lot of work, but her methods yield results. She makes sure you thoroughly understand calculus. Her lectures are fascinating; she does a great job at explaining the concepts. As long as you pay attention and put in the work, you should be fine.
