Hard course. Good luck understanding her!
She's scary at first. Then turns out she is really funny, and always tries to help.
She a crazy lady, she was funny, a little scary at first but thats any teather at first....
She doesn't explain anything
she sucks take math with someone else shes hard to understand and doesnt explain examples
She needs to explain things better, just writing htings on the overhead doesn;t help you understand the concepts.

Seems tough and difficult to understand (accent). She's actually very nice and it isn't really that hard to understand her. The class, it is pretty easy if you are a person that does well with logic. The subject matter is easy until around the 4th section. Just make sure to do most of your HW.

she is awful!! dont do it. she doesn't explain anything well and you can barely understand her!
She actually tends to OVERexplain things, I felt. I She could teach this class to 2nd graders & they'd understand it. I had no problems in this class except the tests were killer, lots of little things that could catch you. She is slightly hard to understand due to her accent, but you get used to it
Dude!!!!!!!!!!!!! She is a tough teach and doesnt explain things too well. If you take her I hope you're good at teaching yourself concepts! Go to class and labs because she takes attendance and it can help your grade out in the end.
She is a little hard to understand, but she is very nice!!! She's a good teacher.
At first I thought she was going to be a horrible teacher but she ended up being very good. She's very clear and overexplains everything so when you go to do the work its extremely easy. HIGHLY recommended! Also if you have trouble making it to class this is one that is okay to miss!
She might possibly be the most confusing math teacher i have ever had. Lectures arent helpful, lab is redundant, and she doesnt allow students to email her. Get a different SECTION!
Sarah is very sweet and tries hard to relate to her students. She will go over a concept until she's sure everyone has it mastered. Also she is very good about taking extra days for review before introducing new material. A great teacher and person!
Very boring and hard to understand. lectures are unclear and you never know what she's talking about. lab is easy, the answers are always written on the board although you don't always do the same material that's covered in class. the large lecture isn't bad but my roommate was in the small class and said it was a lot harder.

good good good teacher! very helpful allthough she is VERY repatative, it helps you in the end, at the moment it may be boring to do a problem over and over, but it definatly ehlps you int he end, i am a HORRIBLE math person, and have never done well in any math class, but she has made things so clear to me and understandable, i have a B+ in there right now, EASY homework (10's on all of them) and easy quizes if you know the material farily well bc all are MC (got B's on them) never done so well before!
She is a very nice lady. Definitely over explains the subject to make sure that everyone understands. As long as you pay attention in the class the tests and quizzes are easy. If you miss a class or two...you'll be able to catch up really easily. But she does take attendance each day and assigns seats! Yeah!
I do not like her at all! She doesn't speak English really well. When I missed a lab because the TA didn't show up, she wouldn't let me make it up. She's not flexible at all and the class is so easy it's boring!
Ehh, the class just kinda sucks in general, I don't think a different teacher would change that.
I'm in her Finite Math class and it's really easy. I have a B in the class, recently aced an exam, and have yet to open my text book. Her accent is a little funny but she's pretty easy to understand and goes throught he material very slowly. I honestly felt like banging my head on the desk numerous times because it was so easy.
She is a very nice lady with a lot of good will, but She is somewhat hard to follow and understand, and puts a lot of information on the tests that she dosent directly go over in class. If you are someone who likes a lot of examples and for the teacher to really teach you during the class time, dont take her
Can't understand what she says.
It is literally painful to make it through her class. It is so boring and she is hard to understand and so is the TA for the class. If I wasn't decent at math I would probably struggle in the class because theyre hard to follow.
HORRIBLE...She isn't helpful at all
Ugh...I'm not good with math to begin with, but this woman didn't help at ALL. Not only is the class we had Finite in GIGANTIC and I was stuck in the back, I could hardly understand what she said and I found it extremely hard to concentrate.
Her accent isn't horrible, but she does have one. She gave detailed notes. If you go to class, you'll have no problem.
Good teacher and helpful. Confusing at points but overall willing to help you get a good grade!
The material covered in the class would be the same no matter who was teaching, BUT if you don't already know a lot of the math covered/don't pick up on it easily then make sure you befriend someone in the class that does. You can learn everything from the book so don't worry about her accent and lack of explanation. Multiple choice tests and exam
She is an extremely nice lady, but I would not sign up for her class. I like math, but struggled because she lectured instead of doing examples and demonstrating the steps necessary to figuring out problems making tests hard. I have heard the same things for MAT 145.
treats students as though they are 10 years old. Can't help anyone, talks too much and doesn't say anything. Flies thru material. Overall biggest pain in my ass!
She has a strong accent, sounds pretty strict about "rules" in the beginning but she's not that bad I guess. Tests/Quizzes are multiple choice!
In response to the previous rating: "I like math, but struggled because she lectured instead of doing examples..." Welcome to a four year University! Geeze, seriously. She's not that bad. College professors expect you to open up the book and do some work. They're not going to do it for you! EASY MC exams/quizzes... not bad at all!
She seems strict but is very nice. Takes attendance most days. Exams are multiple choice, not hard. It's an easy class but do the suggested homework problems if you're having trouble with a certain topic thats being covered.
She is a bad teacher. She does not teach anything. Her tests have nothing to do with what she has taught or the homework she assigns. She gives no reviews for her tests or quizzes. She talks 30 minutes about the easiest thing then 5 minutes on how to actually work the problem out. Switch out if u can!
Is a very nice lady with good intentions. However her teaching style is not good at all, she does maybe one example per class period but does not completely explain how to do the problem. Tests ARE NOT easy and require hours upon hours of studying to pass with a C. She however does offer 'free' points for assignments done in class and extra credit.
Make sure you know how do do everything w/o a calculator because she doesn't show how to sometimes!
Well you pretty much have to teach yourself and the tests are nothing like the homework
The class really wasn't that bad. Her accent is not as bad as some people are making it seem she is easily understandable. She has some of the corniest jokes i have ever heard in my life. I ended up with a b in the class without putting a whole lot of effort into it.
Prof. Hassani was a good teacher when she taught the material. Somewhat hard to lear because of the accent and her teaching style. However, the final was rediculous and had nothing to do with what she taught...
Only a complete idiot would purposfully sign up for her class. I fear for the young souls that grace her presence.
very bad, and annoying
She has trouble with her english but she tries very hard to be helpful!
Funny lady, and kept me smiling. She spends time giving examples and the homework is never collected, but I would do it if I were you because it will help for the final exam. Tough material, but great teacher. And her accent isn't really that bad.
She seems really tough and scary at first, but she ends up being really funny and nice. Very helpful and reassuring. Explains concepts well. If you have trouble with math and you need to pass finite for your degree, by all means sign up for Sarah's class.
Probably the worst teacher I have had all year.
Not a good teacher. Hopefully you know the material already or can learn it on your own. She has an accent but you won't have a problem after a while. Paying attention won't help a whole lot. I would make a Math Mrj your new best friend or get a tutor.
if you aren't good at math find another teacher. she has no clue what is going on and is her english is hard to understand
I think i would have done a bit better if i actually went to class. It was a hard class to sit through. Although she did give probably about 30-35 points extra credit throughout the semester on random days for just showing up. I found it hard to understand her.
Has no personality. her tests are hard and dont really follow the hmwrk or lectures. Hmwrk doesnt count for anything, ur whole grade is based on the labs(only worth 5 pts) and tests. her grading system on tests are horrible. all tests are worth 80 pts with 16 questions, so each question is worth 5 pts. more than like 3 wrong and ur screwed
she's nice and her tests are usually easy. The final was really hard though but I think she ended up curving it. Go to class, she gives random extra credit for showing up
she was hard on tests...but gives extra credit if no one is there or for doing extra problems... i should have gotten a C in the class but 45 points extra credit raised me to an B! final was extremely hard, i almost cried in the middle of it. Do the homework problems and easy 10 pt "projects" every friday and you should at least get a C
Professor Hassani is a really nice lady. Her jokes, although generally not riotous, keep a smile on your face, and she explains everything very well. Has reasonable office hours and is always willing to help you if you just ask. Her accent is very easy to understand, and she generally makes the class fun. tests and quizzes are all very easy
if you go to class you'll make it...miss one day and it'll crush you like a russian winter! Good at teaching the material but too serious
I think she is an exceptional calc teacher. Sometimes she talks in circles when you ask her questions in class, but she gives out 100 points for the semester if you go on fridays and random EC. If you do HW tests are no big deal, and she's really good at breaking things down if you meet one to one. I loved her.
She was so helpful even though she was a little goofy in class sometimes. She really wants everyone to do well, even the people who stop showing up to class. The third exam is the hardest so be careful. If you ask for help she will help you for sure, and just go to class and you'll be fine plus you'll get easy points every friday.
dont expect to understand much. in-class-work is nothing like the tests or the book
Cant understand what shes trying to explain. Not very understanding about things and very repetitive, tests are sshort which is a bad thing.
Probably the hardest class I've ever taken. If you aren't good at math then don't take her. She doesn't explain the material at all. The tests are hard. Once you get confused in class you're done for. She does give extra credit though which is nice. I always found math to be very easy. This class changed that.
I wish i would have picked a different MAT 120 teacher. A lot of my friends in the other classes had an easy time but it was almost impossible to follow her while she's lecturing. She usually will give small extra credit opportunities but the tests killed me.
Very monotonous. Does not explain anything clearly.
do not take this class with her. she gives extra credit and the t.a. is pretty cool. but besides that she is hard to understand and her tests are nearly impossible to get a good grade. oh ya and on the review day she only discusses one type of problem and those problems are usualy never on the test
I really didn't think she was that bad. Yeah, sometimes she is hard to understand but overall she explains things pretty well with a lot of examples. She also gives extra credit!
She is an EXCELLENT teacher. Explains things well, very funny and nice, willing to help everyone. If you go to class and follow along the in-class examples you will be fine. I am pretty sure I'll get a B in the class and I never do the assigned homework. Tests are very much related to in class examples She is very fair and wants everyone to succeed
She tries to act really tough but she's actually a very nice lady. She gives random extra credit so I recommend attending class. She does a decent job explaining the material, but doesn't offer much help outside of the classroom. Overall, not a bad professor but I don't know if I would recommend her.
Sarah is very funny, often doesn't know whats going on. The homework is just for extra practice. Make sure you understand what your doing before the test or get extra help. The Labs are super easy points, you can work with people in the class to complete them.
She is very rude, and expects you to know just what she is talking about. She never completely answers your questions. She sometimes made me feel stupid for asking a question in class. The homework is for extra practice, she assigns group work and extra credit randomly so go to class!
Her accent is no problem at all...any confusion from her directions is from her ability as a teacher, not because of a language barrier. Homework is never checked. And she gives small amounts of EC out occasionally. I missed about 50% of classes and never did homework. Need to cram before test in order to do good. a B isnt hard, an A is a struggle
"Iiiiiiii Can't Ansssssar That"
I think she's hilarious. In a clueless foreign woman type of way. Getting a B in the class is definitely possible. I got a C, because I stopped doing homework. You must practice outside of class to do well, like any math class. Labs are easy, and add extra points onto your grade.
Do not get this teacher!
She is awesome. Maybe hard to understand at first, but you definitely get used to it. She makes the class fun and cracks random jokes--not necessarily funny, but in her accent anything is funny. Her test are easy if you actually STUDY. Labs are extremely easy and usually only last for about 10 minutes. I recommend her.
Knows her Math. Doesn't Know english very well-that killed it for me. Great Person and Mathmatician but you can't teach when you can't speak well.
She is very hard to understand. She doesn't explain things well at all. She doesn't like you to ask questions because there is not enough time. I would not have her as a teacher. She's awful. Everyone in my class does not like her.
She is a horrible teacher. Her accent is indistinguishable so you can't really understand anything she's saying in the lecture. Which is extremely frustrating since going to class EVERY day is mandatory and attendance is taken. The notes are helpful and the material is super easy so passing is not an issue. However if you can get ANYONE else DO IT.
She's a nice lady, just kind of is hard to follow occasionally. If you have to take her, don't panic, just pay attention and you'll do fine. She speaks english, just kind of mixes words occasionally. Overall she's nice, and the class really isn't that bad. Study for the tests and you'll be good!
She is an awful teacher. She understands math well but she cannot teach it. She has a thick accent, so sometimes it's hard to understand what she's saying. She makes her notes before the class so it's hard sometimes to understand how she gets her answers. She doesn't know how to work a microphone either...so sit in front if you want to hear her...
do not take this instructor with out previous knowledge of the concepts. she makes things very, very confusing.
Worst math teacher I have ever had. Do not take this lady for math 120. She is foreign, takes attendance, and is a terrible teacher. The homework and problems in class are nothing like the ones on the tests. I am a good student and struggled terrible in this course because of Hassani's horrid teaching
HORRIBLE teacher. Tests were hard, and not much like the material she taught in class. Definitely did not prepare the class for the final which was nearly impossible. My B went to a C just from that. DO NOT take calc from her.
Definitely not the best teacher
Its calculus, its not suppose to be easy.Homework is not graded, but if you want to pass it would be a good idea to do all of it. She gives a lot of extra credit just for doing group problems in class. She gives participation pts as long as your in class.Tests are hard, but if you study hard you'll do fine. Definetly not a blow off class, but passabl
Look, if you're a math geek, can decipher heavily accented jibberish, and have no important activities at school that may force you to miss a class or two, then you'll probably do well with this less than helpful "professor". If you're an average student who needs some help with math theory, do yourself a favor and avoid Sarah Hassani.
Calculus is hard, but she knows her stuff well. She cracks some corney jokes, and gives lots of group activity points to raise your grade. One of her tests was pretty hard, while the rest were fair. She gave us 5 extra credit chances. I failed calculus last semester, but now have an A in her class. She is a good teacher, I would recommend her.
She is a horrible teacher!! She makes things so confusing. Avoid her class at all cost.
Worst teacher I have ever had. Hard to understand. Is not willing to give much help either. Grade is based on quizzes and tests
good luck to all who take this class. i have been good at math all my life, but this is one of the hardest classes i have ever taken. she doesnt care if you fall behind, so i suggest you get a tutor right when you enroll.
A great teacher. I still go to her for help with my other classes. Is alwasy willing to help and will give you back points on test if you work with her during office hours. For those of you who took MAT 120 just because it was for gen ed credit...no offense but every gen ed class sucks and it is not the teachers fault but your own for picking it!!!
she is the WORST teacher i have ever had. she is absolutely horrible! she makes no sense. i dont even think she knows the material herself. she will not help you. she cant answer your questions. shes hard to understand. the tests dont match what she teaches. she is so bad! do not take a class with her
The class itself is kind of hard but overall she is nice. She always follows up on her help if it seems like you dont understand.
Bad all the way around, could not understand a word she said and does not explain concepts well at all
Worst teacher in the entire world. Doesn't know how to use the classroom technology, she doesn't speak clear english, wastes class time taking attendance and calling out texters in a lecture hall.
Worst teacher ever. Seriously, don't take her class. You can't understand anything she says, and she doesn't even know the material, because she can't answer questions.
I have taken this math in high school. I took it here thinking an easy A, becuase i knew the stuff. Her tests are stupid, get two wrong your barely getting an A. I missed two points on all the labs, and my worst test was three wrong and I got a B.. She is rude, doesnt answer questions, and cannot speak. Stay away from her at all costs.
if you don't study, do homework or ask questions, you won't do well unless you're already good at calc. She's open to questions and really wants to help. put the effort in, and you'll do fine.
She is hard to understand, doesn't teach anything. Everything is straight out of the book. If you take her you will get to know the tutors quite well! I would advise you to look for a different section.
cant understand her. writes things on the board but doesnt really explain. assigns hw but doesnt collect. learned more from the TA in labs than the actual teacher...basically, a waste of time. dont take her.
She isn't that bad. She is actually really funny sometimes, especially when she doesn't get a joke or something. She is a nice lady; just trying to keep order in a big class. Do the webassign problems online, you can get a lot extra credit that way. I don't really like how her tests consist of 16 questions, 5 points each, but I've accepted it.
she is literally the worst teacher. ive never struggled with math in my life and she just makes it impossible. i would study for hours, do homework, and get tutor help and still get Ds on the test. she sucks
Probably the worst teacher I have ever had. I suck at math but I am a good student..and have learned nothing. She has absolutely no idea what she is talking about. Shes too foreign and tests are not even what we learn in class. DO NOT TAKE HER
She means well, but her teaching style is difficult to understand. She has a heavy accent, and tries to explain using examples with letters rather than numbers. So you never really see the solution. A lot of times, she talks herself in circles. I would say go to class to understand the idea, but sign up for tutoring right away and do the webassign.
Truthfully one of the worst teachers i have ever had. You have to teach yourself the information. Stupid to even go to class cause you learn nothing.
The class i took her for was finite mathmatics, It was a really easy class and I am relieved because ms. hassani is very hard to understand, an "old fashioned" teaching style
She tries to best to explain everything, but it can be hard to grasp. Her tests completely suck. They are 16 questions, 5 points each, no partial credit. So you either get the question right or you get it wrong. What really really frustrates me is that she will teach us how to do all the easy problems but puts impossible/confusing ones on the test
Extremely annoying, no sense of humor (for the most part), and doesn't seem friendly most of the time. She doesn't give very good examples in class so the homework is difficult sometimes, but she doesn't collect it so it is not a big deal. Be prepared to learn some on your own, because she isn't always clear while teaching.
She does never explains everything and when it comes to exams she tests you on harder material then you go over. (and this is coming from actually math major!)
She is very easy to understand if you sit in the first 5 rows, if you dont then you are going to have a lot of trouble in her class. She is acutally hillarious if you talk to her. These people commenting below are obviously people who don't listen in class.
The absolute worst teacher I have ever had in my life. She has no understandable train of thought, she has a thick accent, and u will fail her class. She has a 80%fail rate. AVOID AT ALL COSTS
She is probably the worst professor ever. I took Calculus in high school and received a B. How I got a C in her class is beyond me. Her tests are so stupid. Study all you want but 75% of the material on the test won't be what you studied. Lastly, her voice will make you want to walk out of class everyday. STAY AWAY!
When she tries to explain the content, she does a terrible job. It's so hard to understand what she's saying. Not that she has a bad accent, but because what she says doesn't always make sense. She assigns book problems every day but never collects them. It's good practice, but that's up to you to decide whether or not to do them. Book not needed.
At times she is hard to understand due to her accent. If you go to class every day and put some effort in you should be fine. If not there are always tutors and she makes herself available to students. Definitely go to class and do the webassign, you will get 200 points plus some extra credit just for that.
She was a replacement for a teacher that went on maternity leave for my class. In the few short weeks that Hassani was there, I managed to bring my grade from an A to a C simply because I did not understand the material. She is very hard to understand. Not because of her accent, but because she just does not explain the content very well.
Mrs. Hassani is a really good teacher if you try in her class. I would recommend sitting in the front because she doesn't use her microphone and it would be impossible to hear in the back of a lecture class. She's super nice as long as you respect her.
Great sense of humor, clear lecturer, and fun teacher! She presents the big picture, working down to the nitty gritty, deriving the new from the old so you can see how mathematicians came up with it. She structures the class to be as easy point-wise as possible, and grades tests extremely fairly, even giving back points you shouldn't have missed.
I am currently taking her class right now. I read prior comments on here on how horrible she is, and to date I have yet to see this. However, I do not know what is going on with her exams, because I like to think of myself as a pretty knowledgeable individual when it comes to math and I cannot seem to get over a 60% on her tests.
She is a nice enough person but she is not that great of a teacher. She rarely goes into great detail concerning class material and expects you to figure the rest out yourself. If you have to take her do the practice problems she posts for each section and use her office hours if you have questions.
Hassani was definitely not the best math teacher I have ever had. She has broken english and struggled to make examples that were grammatically correct or explain something in detail. I did well in the class by teaching myself the material and doing the optional assignments she gave in class. There are online assignments & labs that are mandatory.
She is not the clearest professor, but gives out a lot of extra credit. My test average was a high C but I got an A because the final was so heavily weighted. She is not that bad and gives points simply for attending class, overall she is a good teacher if you put in the effort for the class.
Worst Math teacher. She doesn't know what is going on and rambles on in her own language that you can't even understand. She is awful
Literally the worst teacher I've ever had in high school or college. I did fine, only due to my previous knowledge of calculus, however. She has no regard for her students. I had completed a Webassign assignment and she took it down and re-posted it later for whatever reason, leaving me to spend another 1.5-2 hours on it. AVOID HER AT ALL COSTS
I've never met a teacher who's so uninterested in helping students. She NEVER responds to emails, speaks in circles, posts homework assignments AFTER test is taken.. which is useless at that point. I'm a very hard working student, but I don't have time to teach myself an ENTIRE course. By far, worst teacher I have ever encountered, sorry.
She is a hit or miss teacher, I never had any issues with her. Some kids hated her. She is mean the first week. After she is nice and funny.
Avoid her at all costs. I took calculus in high school and I easily got a B without trying. I struggled to get a B with her. She is horrible. She puts stuff on the test that we do not go over in class, and she is very difficult and stubborn. I would highly suggest getting ANYONE else as a teacher.
Sometimes when you ask her questions she can make you sound stupid at times. She has broken English and her emails can get confusing and lead to the students making mistakes, which she then blames on them. If you don't get on her bad side you should be fine. She takes attendance every day and the final is really hard. Had an A up until the then.
Terrible. Has an attitude towards any student who asks questions during class. More interested in micro-managing students than trying to help explain issues. Has pre-made notes which she uses on an overhead, but shuffles around constantly and covers with sticky notes to limit what you can write down. Class was just a cluttered, unorganized mess.
good class
Professor Hassani is not clear at all. She is terrible at responding to emails and questions, and she is not an easy grader. She gets offended if you ask questions and is very confusing sometimes she confuses herself to the point where she doesn't even know what she's talking about anymore. Lectures are very boring I would not recommend her.
I would avoid her at all costs. She is very sassy and spends more time concentrating on whether or not you are on your phone more than whether or not you are actually learning. She has pre written notes that she shuffles constantly and always covers up words. You can hardly take notes this way.
Everyone's giving her bad reviews but I really liked her. As long as you attend class and do the homework, at least the online stuff, you should know what you're doing. Sometimes she made silly mistakes that if you couldn't understand the concept enough to catch her mistake you might be confused but the tests were pretty easy. She'll help if u ask.
This class was difficult especially if math is not a strong concepts for you. You have to pass all her exams because homework is not graded. She works hard to make sure you understand but she will leave you hanging and will wait for no one.
Professor Hassani really wasn't that bad, she just expects your best effort in the class (since, you know, we're adults in college). She does online homework that is taken for points. Start the assignments as early as possible and you'll be homework free for awhile. She's strict, but is very nice one on one, just treat her with respect.
During lectures she was not clear on many points and went on rambling tangents a lot. She assigns online hw as well as optional hw from the book, which I found necessary to do in order to do well on her tests. If you put in the effort, it isn't that bad, but the cumulative final is quite difficult and can make or break your grade.
During lectures she's just all over the place. She doesn't explain what is going to be on the exams so its really just up in the air. When you ask a question during class she won't take the time to answer it and gives you a sassy attitude. What really helped understand the course better was the homework online.
I attended class as scheduled, I completed Webassign, and I got a tutor but none of that seemed to matter. She is nice, but it's not worth taking Calc 1 with her. If you ask a question, she'll try to answer but usually she goes too fast and you can't even keep up with her and the "explanation" given. 4 tests and a final that'll make you sad. Avoid.
go to class group work that gives easy points
Worst professor I've ever had. She grades on a bell curve, meaning that she pre-determines how many people are going to fail and pass. So essentially, if everyone were to do around 95% of the work, you still can fail. Her accent is hard to understand, she doesn't explain HOW things work, and jumps around to much. Do NOT recommend.
Hassani is not that bad. She does Webassign and those homework's add up to a full test grade. The discussion has lab quizzes that are 5 points. She expects you to pay full attention. Test are multiple choice. If you understand math this course will be medium difficulty. She does job at explaining her notes.
Many other students have said that Dr. Hassani is rude and hard to understand. I don't agree with either opinion. She is firm, she demands your attention, and her accent is subtle. By the end of the first week, you will have to choose your assigned seat and she DOES take attendance. You will need a TI-83 or 84. Not required to show work on tests.
Wow, no. Save yourself the misery. Tests were hard, though they shouldn't be. Even if you've taken calculus before, you may get confused with the way she requires you to learn. Covers up notes, never clear or easy to understand. Often hypocritical and rude to people who ask "stupid" questions. Group points may save your grade. Webassign is easy.
Does online homework through webassign. Tests are impossible. Only take if you have done calculus before.
Prof Hassani is a decent teacher. If you respect her, she'll respect you. Tests are challenging, but nothing too bad as long as you studies/paid attention in class. Lectures are boring and sometimes her notes are confusing and all over the place, but in all, it could be worse.
Im gunna do you a favor and tell you right now to avoid this crazy lady. She never even understood what she was talking about. People would ask her questions in class and she would refuse to answer. She didn't even grade our finals and just gave us the grades we had before we took them. She drove me crazy all year. SO thankful I am done with her.
Dr. Hassani is very strict & isn't very helpful. I went to class almost everyday (she takes attendance & will give extra credit if attendance is low) She teaches calculator shortcuts after teaching the manual ways, so if you learn the shortcuts the tests are easy since they're multiple choice. People find her annoying but its not too bad of a class
I never had any issues with math courses throughout my 4 years at ISU until I stumbled across Hassani. During class, you may think you understand all the material and are ready for her exam; however, you will be in for a surprise. She is pleasant but does not respond to any e-mails and gives extremely difficult exams. Choose a different professor.
My least favorite teacher I have ever had here at Illinois State. She overcomplicates everything that she teaches so you're better off taking notes and teaching yourself. Would not recommend this professor to anyone that struggles in math or gets lost easily.
Professor Hassani makes it damn near impossible to take notes in her class. She constantly goes out of her way to cover up information on the document camera before students have enough time to write it down. And if you think you can just snap a photo and get around that, guess again. No phones allowed.
She is very unorganized, and does not explain material very well. I have never struggled with math, however, Hassani has made it very difficult. Her notes are all over the place, and when she makes a mistake and someone points it out, she claims she did it on purpose so she doesn't look bad. Not horrible if you are good at teaching yourself.
She was a very sweet woman. Each Friday she gave group work to complete during class for 10 points each, sometimes they were even extra credit. The homework always helped, but yes it took some time.
If you go to class and do the online homework it's impossible to do bad in this class. Her lectures can get repetitive; however, I would find this to really solidify the concepts. She also does not let anything slide, she's extremely strict and demands respect from her students.
Very disrespectful to students all around. Will consistently stop class and try and make a joke at a students expense. Does not explain the material well at all, and will waste whole lectures explaining how to do it one way only to show the shortcut the last five minutes before the test. Makes mistakes in the notes and says she was "Quizzing" us.
I love this teacher!!! great teacher unless you just taking math because its a required course, otherwise, she will make sure that you get out with great knowledge. also I got an A .
She utilizes an overhead projector with well planned out and structured lessons. You know exactly what section you are working on each day. She does not allow cell phones, or taking images of notes. Emphasises collaberation, working in groups at least twice a week. Do the webassign for each section before a exam and you will be fine. Final is comp
Horrible Math Professor. Disorganized and easily distracted. Probably shouldn't be teaching in all honesty.
horrible teacher. Hassani makes a simple method more confusing. Hassani makes a point to try to prove she's smarter than you. Do yourself a favor and don't take this class.
She really cares about her students. She is a pretty good professor but she's really annoying, we learned the same thing for a month and now she's hurrying to teach us other stuff because we're in a time crunch. If you pay attention and show up to lab (which helps a ton), you'll pass. Side note: she has an accent but it's very easy to understand.
She is one of the worst teachers I have ever had. Do not take her. She answers emails a week later, and do not bother going to class because you cant understand a word she says. She does super easy examples in class and the labs are so easy, but the tests are literally impossible. She is not a good teacher. DO NOT TAKE
Horrible professor. Get ready to be put through a tough course and suffer. Her grading is super tough and she loves trig so be prepared to add trig to anything you learn. I would only recommend her if you have prior calc experience and have done successfully in math your entire school career. Regret taking this course with this professor.
She is so difficult and does not care about your question. If you are late to lecture, she demands an explanation. If you have your phone out, it will be confiscated. She treats the class like its high school. She will put you on blast during class and she hates cheat sheets. She says you either memorize it or fail.
This class is very difficult. She will show 1-2 easy examples per section but when it comes to the tests you are almost blind sided. She shows her notes on a projector, but covers up most of it. The group work she gives us in class is really you teaching yourself. If you don't show every step on a test, points get taken away. Also she loves trig.
Examples in class are very easy, but its her pre-written notes but she covers up half of it and switches back and forth on the overhead so you don't get to write down everything. She does NOT explain how to do the problem, just shows the answer. Tests are harder material than in class. You end up teaching yourself.
WORST ISU PROFESSOR EVER. terrible to students and doesnt care about helping. her examples in class are super easy plus she does not explain how to do anything. usually she picks on one student and makes their life miserable in her class. overall not a good professor, do not recommend.
I remember one time at the beginning of the semester i thought taking this class with a teacher that had a low rating on this site would still be okay. I do pretty well in school, that all changed when i got to Hassani's class. She expects you to do 2 hours of homework every day. We all laughed that off... now we realize how serious she is. Awful
I came into this class knowing half of the material from other classes so I was incredibly bored. Show up to class if material is new. She knows what she is talking about but is sometimes unorganized with what she puts up on the projector and where. It wasn't hard but felt long because of how bored I was. Tests aren't hard but no partial credit.
This teacher as a person is nice. Does not teach Very organized. Just puts equations on the board and lets you try and figure it out in your own for almost the whole hour. Then rushes through it in the last 5 minutes. I have asked for help on specific problems she tells me to figure it out on my own or ask other classmates for help. Hardest grader
I advise anyone who has to take mat120 to go in search of a new professor. taking this class was extremely challenging. Also, hearing from some of my friends in other mat120 classes, they had a very easy time taking this class. The professor is a nice lady, just difficult to pay attention during lecture and unclear notes did not help either.
If you take the class, your best bet is to study the material before class, go to class and pay attention to her (which is a hit or miss because sometimes she makes me MORE confused about the lesson) then go to the math lab and work one on one with a tutor. The lecture hall is too big for her to teach a subject as diffifcult as 120 and help every1
One of the worst teachers I have ever had. I attended every class, attempted outside tutoring, went to office hours, met with her GA, all of which was no help. I tried, several times, meeting with Professor Hassani and she did not offer any help, but just suggested other outlets of help. She does not care for her students and has no extra credit.
I used to think that Professor Hassani was the worst professor at ISU, she not. This class is generally hard even if you are good at math. You have to come every day and pay full attention to her. Exams every other Friday make or break your grade. I have been at ISU for 4 semesters now and this class is the only C I have received.
Impossible to communicate with and she is not willing to help her students at all. She has her students rely solely on their work groups instead of providing explanations. If you have a question, she tells you to ask your group first. If your group does not have the answers, then she says its our fault for not knowing. Impossible human being.
Here lectures are awful and boring. You can barely hear her. She always asks am I right? After finishing an example problem as is were supposed to know when shes teaching us something new. Just take it with someone else.
Her assistant taught us more than she did. She is a horrible lecturer and doesn't seem to care about her students. After every test she would give out extra credit because she knows nobody passed. The only way to get the extra credit is to show up to every single class. If you are forced to take her get ready to teach yourself everything.
I would not recommend this class with Dr. Hassani to anyone. The class is very lecture heavy and the lectures are extremely boring and do not help at all. No feedback is given and you are forced to learn the material by yourself. A lot of extra credit is given if you come to every class. I would never take another class with her.
She comes off as strict but is actually very sweet. Attendance technically is not mandatory, but it is important to show up to class because I got 52 extra credit points just by going to every class because no one would show up. Most of these reviews are probably from students who never went to class and just expected to skate through. Easy A or B
Personally, I loved having her as a teacher. I felt that the beginning of the class had aspects that were hard to visualize, but she really helped with the rest. She has you form groups with people to help you learn the material better by bouncing ideas off of others. ALWAYS show up the day you get your tests back, you get 10 points of Xtra credit.
One of the worst teachers I've ever had. (2nd time taking finite, didn't pass due to my own lack in effort with another prof). If I didn't have a general idea of the material I would've failed. Teaching style is super sloppy & she does not welcome questions. Tests had tricky questions that were never taught. Points off for just having phone on desk
Nice lady, horrible teacher. Lectures were already horrible but when online lectures started due to COVID-19, they, along with tests became harder. Never able to get all of the notes down b/c she scrolled through so fast & refused to post them on reggie. Tests were no longer multiple choice & had questions never covered. Never replies to emails.
Do NOT take this class. Worst professor I've ever had. Her notes are all over the place and it's very difficult to learn anything from her. Our TA is the only reason most of us passed, he taught us more then she did. She's terrible at responding to emails and overall just not helpful. Don't take this class if you can't teach yourself the material.
I had to drop out of this class because despite doing my absolute best and seeing her during office hours, she got it in her head that I was constantly being disrespectful to her and started refusing to answer my questions. That said, her notes are disorganized, and her tests are hard. I had something like a 46% in the class when I dropped in March
She has to be the worst professor at ISU. I have no clue how she even has a job still. You teach yourself everything and she is not helpful at all. Rarely ever responds to emails and does not care about any of her students. Do not take her, wait for another professor!
She is not flexible at all with grades. I had a 89.4% in the class and she would not round up. Before the pandemic, it was hard to follow her lectures and when you asked questions after class she was so rude about it. She told you to email her and she wouldnt respond until a week later. It was even worse when we went online. Worst professor ever.
DO NOT take Sarah Hassani if you don't have to. She doesn't care about her students or teaching. Most definitely the worst professor I have ever had in my life.
Okay so I am not the person to complain about professors. Sarah is the WORST professor I have ever taken! She constantly messes up examples during class, expects you to learn it on your own, read the textbook and still she won't even help you if you have questions. She doesn't respond to emails and you get graded for correctness on labs. NEVER TAKE
Do not take this class! Everyone I know including myself struggled and received no help from professor Hassani. She was rude, rushed lectures, and criticized students for using calculators at appropriate times, asking questions, and not knowing how to answer a problem. Sitting through her class was like hell.
hands down, the worst professor i have ever had. never take a class with her she does not know how to teach and is super rude and condescending. if you have any questions, she will make you feel awful for not knowing something. 0/10 she ruined my semester
Terrible
Absolutely terrible teacher. I am a straight-A student and I hardly got a C. I tried to meet with her, she didn't help and told me she didn't think she could help me. She yelled at students during a large lecture hall. She was the worst professor I have ever had, I would never recommend anyone to go through the stress of taking her class.
She is condescending and makes you feel bad for not know specific information. Is extremely strict on grading.
I am shocked that this woman even still has this job. I am in a lecture with 150+ kids and none of use know what is going on. Her work is sloppy, she goes way too fast to the point you can't even write the notes down. She is rude and gets mad if you don't know the answer. Tests are hard and she talks during them on the zoom call so I can't focus.
I sent her 8 emails throughout this semester and she responded to one. Tests are hard. Zoom lectures are unorganized and confusing.
Seriously the worst teacher i have ever had. I dont know how she is a professor let alone still has a JOB. Avoid this class at all costs it is not worth it. She is so rude and makes you feel awful for asking a question. I dont understand how a professor could be so insensitive and rude towards her students.
This was the worst class I have ever taken. I never understood anything she was saying. Im and straight A student and this class was impossible. Lectures are so messy and she doesn't give any papers to follow along with. Tests are even related to the homework. Most people in this class either ended with a C or withdrew.
Dr. Hassani was by far the worst Math professor I have had. She didn't seem like she cared about her students at all. When asking Dr. Hassani a question about anything her go to answer was "put it in forum". She was not helpful at all and I felt I was on my own for the entirety of the semester. I would strongly recommend not taking her class.
I do not recommend taking her class. She gives lots of homework and does not like to answer questions in class. She wants you to put all questions in the class forums, which doesnt help. She does not provide good help when u need it. The tests are hard and if you are .01 off the answer or did not round correctly then she usually counts it wrong.
She runs a strict class, but over zoom I think it was necessary. She loves when students participate and get to know you. She seemed to struggle a little having first semester online but many professors did. She made sure to never suprise us with material we hadn't learned. You MUST go to class, if you don't go, don't expect her to answer questions
Id rather light myself on fire than take any class of hers again. She has been the worst teacher Ive had and that just made math 100x harder. Shes rude and doesnt answer questions and yells at you for getting stuff wrong but wants people to participate, make it make sense. She shouldnt even have this job. Got all As this semester except this.
dont take her class. youll fail if you miss class, tons and tons of homework but only worth 100 points total. 5 exams worth 100 points each but lowest is dropped. that was all manageable and i had an 96 and then we get to the final. worth 200 points (24% of the total grade) hardest exam ive ever taken. got a 58% and ended up with an 88%
Test are hard and dont relate to things you learned. Final worth 200 points and more than half of stuff we didnt learn how to work the problem out. She doesnt care if everyone did bad on a test. One test we took 98% of class failed it because she didnt show us how to do those problems and she didnt do anything about it or care.
I showed up to every lecture and still have to retake this class. She calls on you randomly during class and doesn't try to rephrase things to help you understand better. She didn't respond to emails and got mad when you would ask a question that might be answered on her announcements or syllabus.
hassani is honestly the worst educator I have ever worked with. she cares very little about her students and is rarely if ever helpful when asking questions. i do not recommend at all.
By far the worst teacher/professor I have ever had in my entire life. She simply just doesn't care about her students. She doesn't want to help you. You can't ask questions in class without feeling like you're doing something wrong and lesser than her. Takes 4 days to answer an email (sometimes not at all). Do NOT sign up for Hassani.
I'm going to put this in simplest terms, DO NOT take her class because she is quite literally dog water at teaching. Find somebody to replace her asap.
strict teacher, watch your zooms and do your homework and youll be fine.
You really need to be FOUL as a professor for me to go on rate my professor and leave a rating, bc thats time out of my life. I should've dropped this course the first day of class when she said its not her job to teach us. tf?unfortunately, she was the only professor left when registering & rate my professor told me why. Please quit teaching.
This is a VERY hard class. Her accent makes it even harder. It switched from in-person to online mid semester due to COVID.
By far the worst educator I've had thus far at ISU. she teaches, I mean READS from her old power points IN A MATH COURSE. don't do examples. don't like answering her emails, answering our questions. don't even know what she talking about! can't accommodate students during a pandemic. if she don't like teaching she just needs to say that already.
Was told the professor for this class was "to be announced" until every other class was full and it was the only time that fit my schedule. I also had to take the class this semester. There is a reason they do not announce her because not a single person would enroll. Your seriously better off not going to class. My grade dropped 11 from the final.
Worst professor I've ever had. Dont bother asking questions because she will respond with werent you paying attention? Read the syllabus. She updated grades twice the whole semester, so you dont really know how youre doing. She reads off old power points rather than actually working out problems. Takes her at least a week to email you back
If you are some one who struggles with Math, I would stay away. She goes really fast and if you ask a question she will tell you that you need to figure it out on your own, or accuse you of not paying attention.
Terrible at explaining things.
Ive never had a worst math teacher. As a student that has been a year ahead in math all throughout highschool, and taken college level statistics and calculus this class was supposed to be a breeze, but it was the most difficult class. She genuinely does not care about her students, and have told us multiple times in class to use your logic
Honestly, the worst teacher I have ever had. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH HER AT ALL COSTS! She is terrible at everything.
Honestly if I could give her a negative 10 I would. I have never had an educator in my life that has been so rude, inconsiderate, and absolutely disrespectful to her students. I asked a question in one class and had a mass email sent out to my class about my "disrespect and disruption." I was hoping these ratings were exaggerated but they were not
Shes very respectful to students who are respectful to her. Lots of communication errors that sounds like shes being rude when really its just a language barrier. Lectures are quite difficult but nothing more than the usual. Dont skip class, do homework, and youll be fine. She even gives extra credit just for showing up occasionally.
A lot of people give this professor a bad grade and I dont know why. She works out every problem with you and the homework really helps for the test. The only thing i could complain about is that sometimes it is hard to understand her. If you go to the lectures and do the homework and moderately study youll be fine. There are also labs which help.
If you are bad with math this is not the professor you should go with. She does not teach, she just tells you. Expect to be your own teacher at home at the end of the day. I have had middle school math teachers that have taught students better than her. The TA/lab prof she had was just as bad at explaining stuff.
This is the worst teacher I've ever had in my life. Do not take this class if you don't want to fail. She does not explain thoroughly and overcomplicates everything. 0/10 do not recommend.
overall, she wasnt bad. Exams make up most of class.
In lecture she wouldnt answer questions, tests were so hard, graded assignments really slow, doesnt help if you have COVID, countless hours of studying just to retake the class.
I think professor Hassani gets a little bit of a bad rap, but she gets the information through just fine. She's not the most forgiving or friendly person, as the answer to most questions is "read the syllabus." If you do your homework and go to class, you should be just fine.
Shes strict and bad at explaining things for people who are not comfortable with math concepts
She sucks at lectures
She expects you to be an expert at math on Day 1 and apparently needs a entire class session to explain a single problem and when you still dont understand and ask a question she will yell at you for not paying attention. Also she doesnt do the work she reads off PowerPoints that were premade years ago!! Dont take in general she needs to be fired
Hassani is legitimately the worst prof I've ever had. Not only is she a terrible person, but a terrible teacher. She has no empathy for her students and couldn't care less if they don't understand her confusing lectures.
She is a tough teacher, but I managed an A in the class. She gives out extra credit which is very helpful. There is tons of opportunities to points with Webassign assignments. Take advantage of those, they add up for a lot of your grade. The lowest test gets dropped. Put in the work and you will be fine.
Extremely rude professor. Asks if you have questions then is confused as to why you have them. Class was extremely difficult and would not have passed without tutors. Do not take with this professor.
Quite literally finds the most unnecessary and complicated way to explain things.I am literally not exaggerating. Not the content that's hard its her. She will also be like "Okay ill let you guys try this problem on your own" "jk I'm gonna start talking immediately about the answer and how to get it 0.2 seconds after I said try it on your own".
Lectures were shallow and confusing. Covers notes briefly that don't always help with homework and labs, and the way she teaches is excessive in a confusing way. I wouldn't have made it through without a tutor who simplified it for me. If you're willing to work through most of it yourself or rely on the class group chat then you may pass.
Professor Hassani gets a bad rep! She is not a bad teacher, she is strict to her policy and syllabus. She can genuinely be a great teacher. She offers extra credit for participation and homework/labs are free points and she drops an exam! Definitely not the worst professor on campus!!
Didn't get to choose my professor...ended up with the worst one. Dr. Hassani was a horrible teacher. I definitely don't recommend taking her class unless you excel in math.
This lady is the worst professor at Illinois State. She is your worst nightmare and that is being generous. Her voice is nails on a chalkboard. Oh and if you ask a question DO NOT expect an answer and ABSOLUTELY do not expect a respectful answer. Ask her a math question and she will tell you to read the syllabus. She ruins Illinois States reputation
if one student was distracted she would stop the entire class and throw everyone else off track. she would explain things in the most complicated way possible on top of spending the majority of a chapter attempting to teach by hand when we have to use the calculator on the exam anyways. I now have to retake this course.
Dr. Hassani 100% gets a bad rep! Don't believe the hate. I just took here MAT120 in Spring 22 and I have to say as long as you go to class and participate in the lectures you will be fine. She offers EXTRA CREDIT, drops one of the four exams, and the labs/hw are pretty much free points(if you do them). She is a very nice lady and actually cares!
She is a really nice lady so if you want to be in her good graces sit in the front. There is a lot you will have to learn on your own though because she barley covers more than one thing in lecture.
Yea I can see why a lot of people don't like her, but that's just because she cares and actually wants people to pay attention. One thing that was annoying was you can't even look at your phone or laptop the whole class even if you understood the topic. I thought it was quite easy even considering I missed a good amount of class.
STRONG ACCENT. Old and acts like it, arrives at 9:30 on the dot. YOU HAVE TO TAKE NOTES . Her explanations: confusing b/c she doubles back; contradicts herself, also talks herself in circles . She will ask a question and you have no idea if it's rhetorical BUT if you ask a question she has an attitude answering. Don't take class with her!
Hassani is awesome! Her lectures were very informative and easy to follow along. Yes, she can be strict with her policies but most teachers are. She drops the lowest exam and has extra credit opportunities. She also responded to every email I sent in a good amount time and was very helpful when needing to make something up!
Explanations tend to run in circles. There is no powerpoint or worksheet that you can work off to complete notes. If you rely heavily on notes to study, it is difficult to grab enough out of her lectures to collect useful notes. Only completes 2-4 examples per class, tends to run in circles and tangents. Analogies make little to no sense.
She is strict with her policies so as long as you're familiar with her syllabus and go to class you will be fine. She takes things pretty slow which allows you to really understand what's going on. Exams aren't too hard we had two online and two in person. People give her a bad rep but she is great as long as you pay attention and do your work.
In class she only goes through a one or two examples in class, I had to basically teach myself everything in the class, final exam was nothing like the other exams or homework, I had an A up until the final and then dropped my grade significantly, final was worth 28% of my total grade, her exams were also nothing like the homework/ exams, good luck
This is my second time taking this course because I failed it last year. I had an 89.23% the ENTIRE year and when the final came, it dropped my grade to a 73.48%. The final was NOTHING like anything we learned in class. She is disrespectful towards her students especially if you email her or need help. She doesn't teach so you have self teach. GL!
dont ever take this class if you are bad at math. the teacher does one or two problems per class and always asks us if its right. The final was nothing like the homework and like half of the stuff on the final review wasn't even on the test. DO NOTTTTTTTT take this class. Basically a self taught class. Homework usually is never like tests.
TBH, She's not good at teaching... always explains useless concepts again and again with tons of examples. Attendance is an important part of the evaluation because she will give extra credit to students who show up in class. Easy homework and easy exams, but the class is so boring.
Very sweet lady and tries to go through the material as clearly as possible. Very understanding
By far the worst math professor I have ever had, very hard to follow. Homework is nothing like in-class examples.
Professor Hassani has a poor style of teaching. She already had all of the problems completed when reviewing them in class, instead of the class working through them together. Homework is online which is nice, but tests are in person.
Not as bad as she is made out to be. She boosted up my grades and gave me opportunities to redo assignments.
Dr. Hassani is very knowledgeable and enjoys teaching. As long as you take notes and complete the online hw, it shouldn't be that bad. Though, computers are not allowed & the online hw is $111 (WebAssign). The labs are helpful and she expects class participation. Not as bad as people make her out to be. If you like math, she's a great teacher.
She was very old-fashioned, but as long as you try you'll do well.
Professor Hassani has a pretty old school teaching style. She gives out a lot of homework and is pretty strict. I would suggest avoiding taking this professor if you can.
She was fine. Not good, not bad, but she can catch an attitude at times. The content in the class isn't difficult, and she posts every lecture online. She answered my email after days of waiting, but I eventually got an answer. Every quiz is online and only 1/2 or less of the tests are in person. Attendance isn't mandatory for labs, except for two.
The content was fine but her teaching style was disorganized. She would cover up sections of her notes and skip around leaving people confused. Tests were for the most part directly taken from the homework so if you do the homework you should be fine. Project points are so useful to have and can be at anytime so make sure to attend.
Does not teach what is on the homework
Just want to remind everyone how horrible Hassani is as a professor. These recent reviews could seriously be her making them herself. This WILL be the worst teacher you WILL ever come across in your entire academic career. Avoid AT ALL COSTS. Doesn't want you to succeed. Doesn't respond to emails. Can't understand her. Do not take her. DO NOT.
Professor Hassani has a specific teaching style, but with engagement it works well. The lectures are helpful, and resources like unstuckstudy ai, ChatGPT, and the free textbook can make studying more effective. Attendance is a must, but the workload is manageable.
Take literally any other professor for MAT 120.
Take literally any other professor for MAT 120. Dr. Hassani can not explain anything. She explains things in the most difficult and noncomprehensive way possible. No offense, but her thick accent does not help when watching lecture videos or in class. She also does not care for your absences or problems you may have when taking tests.
She has a horrible teaching style, the only benefit to this class is that her tests and quizzes are online. I would avoid her at all costs.
Very strict and sometimes unfriendly/condescending. Demands in class participation but will belittle you when you ask for clarification. She post recorded lecture videos on canvas if you miss a class/need to review. Course load is moderate and slightly challenging. Attending lab isn't necessary. Test/quiz's/no class days are online every Friday.
teaching can be difficult to understand, makes you feel stupid when asking any questions
She isn't easy to talk to over email, hard to understand her, she does not understand at ALL and excuses like wifi not working IS not an excuse, she is an awful teacher, not very friendly, and does not care if her students pass or fail.
I thought the class was supposed to be asynchronous, but we only met the first day of classes at the beginning of the semester and the rest of the semester was through zoom. All of the tests were online except the comprehensive in person final exam. Zooms were very hard to pay attention to. Would not recommend this teacher at any costs.
Completed an entire exam; she proceeded to give me a ZERO stating I did not complete it. With a majority online class there is bound to be connection or WIFI issues. I offered to retake the exam for her, and she would not allow me too. Had to drop the class. if u don't like to do work like me, I mathway'd the whole class and would've passed RIP
She's very rude and doesn't respect her students. A friend had a family member die and couldn't do the assignment and she said that was no excuse. she doesn't do a good job teaching the material I had to self learn everything. It's also really hard to understand her she's cold and not friendly. I did not feel comfortable gong to her for help.
I genuinely believe she enjoys making her students miserable. This professor is the absolute worst. I would rather stub my toe, sleep on a warm pillow, drink hot water, have my charger only work at a certain angle, and fall down a flight of stairs before ever taking a class with her again. Avoid this professor at all costs if you can!!!
Terrible teacher, doesn't make sense most of the time. Class was mainly online so wasn't very hard for most of the course, but the final was in person so that made it pretty bad. Wasn't to homework heavy but class was not taught well at all. Would not recommend
Not a nice person at all. Not understanding either. However she does explain things well in my opinion which brings up her rating a bit. I took her finite math class online and as long as you pay attention in lecture and do your homework, you should be fine.
Good professor who seemed to care about what she taught; however, her teaching style was sometimes confusing and very old school. If you need an easy A, I wouldn't recommend it since the class is very homework/lecture-heavy, and she is not lenient about deadlines. Material is somewhat difficult, but not too bad if you put effort.
Taking Math 120 with Professor Hassani was terrible. She was rude, condescending, and dismissive of accommodations. After a family loss, she insisted I take an exam during the funeral, only relenting after I went to the Dean. Even then, she delayed the rescheduled exam. Her lack of empathy made the class a hostile experience. Avoid her.
Horrible at teaching super strict for no reason thinks the worst of people immediately
My MAT120 was in person then switched to online which made it a lot easier, though the final was in person. The tests were also online, just attend some of the zooms and you will do fine
Honestly, she is not that bad. We were in-person and switched to online, and everything was great. Tons of cengage homework though, and sometimes she assigns it and doesn't tell you.
Apparently she records the lectures but I could never find them and was too scared to ask. The tests and quizzes are online. I had an A all semester but the final is worth two exams, so... She does not care about her students individually so if your lost you're on your own. Defiantly put yourself into tutoring. Lots of homework and labs don't help.
DO NOT TAKE ANY CLASS WITH THIS PROFESSOR. Actually the worst professor I have ever had. I have 18 missing assignments because this women only post assignments the day they're due. Exams are online and posted the day of, due by 12 pm.
Worst Professor I have had at ISU. Should not be teaching a hybrid class if you dont know how to use a computer, encourages students to ask question then ridicules them for asking, not understanding at all, horrible response time, and terrible lectures. All of your hard work leads up to a final exam that is nowhere similar to the material covered.
whole semester is online aside from lab days (not mandatory), then final is in person. Hassani is very harsh and strict. I wouldn't recommend. I've been good at math all my life and mat120 was just a pre-req, but she made the course more difficult with her "teaching style". If you aren't good at math, don't take her. She wont be any help to you.
Actually THE WORST PROFESSOR at isu!!!! If you want to fail this class then take it with her. She is horrible at explaining things to students and gets mad when you ask her questions. The final exam is worth 2 exams (200 points) and she does not care about her students AT ALL!! never responds back to emails and so rude. TAKE IT AT YOUR OWN RISK!!
The test are fair and seem to match the lecture notes. There is a lot of homework. She is strict on a lot of things. Show up to lectures and take good notes and actually understand the notes well as the final exam is a lot different then the past exams. A final exam study guide is given and is similar to the final exam in terms of difficulty.
Super confusing and hard to understand, she doesn't explain things clearly. Also does not answer questions well so it was hard to get help with the course. I did the course online and it was just as bad maybe worse because the final was still in person. Be ready to study a lot and be very confused.
