I only had her twice when she subbed for our regular (sucky) professor but even in that brief time I could tell she was an awesome instructor. She gave very helpful tips and clear information. She was very helpful during labs and clearly invested in whether or not we learned the material.

She can have a serious attitude problem, but she is a decent teacher. Says "OK" and "what we know" 300 times a day. If you do all the work she suggests and read the book you'll pass. Will act like a cool teacher but when you reciprocate she will shut you down. Don't ask unnecessary questions, it makes her angry, try to find the answer on your own.

Mrs. Mervin was one of the best teachers I ever had. Her class is hard of course but she gives you every opportunity to get a good grade. No she doesn't give you the answer you work for it. I took the class over the summer and in 10 weeks passes with an A. It is possible but you have to work and she will help you as much as she can along the way.

Great A&P teacher! She made everything so easy to learn and was so understanding. If you had a question she would answer it. Also she was very fair to all the students. Made you work for your grade but you knew it when it came to the test. Some students didn't like her but that's because they wanted an easy A. Would definitely recommend her!

She is not a terrible teacher.. however she is not the best. I love her as a person but it was hard for me to actually learn anything in her class. She basically reads the powerpoints in lecture and you have to go home and reread it or your screwed. She will lecture about something for 20min and it wont be on test. However the class isnt impossible

Absolutely phenomenal teacher! She will help you any possible way that she can and is very thorough when covering material. Print out the powerpoints and do the moodle quizzes. You get out what you put in!

Bio 169 is a difficult class; however, the lectures are presented in a way that are very easy to understand. Provides lots of tips on how to remember a very hard and technical subject matter. Expects full attention in class and holds you accountability to the rules of her classroom. Provides adequate time to complete labs and study in class.

Ms. Hollis was great this semester. While she does read from the PowerPoint that might put off some students, she does end up expanding more than just what is written. She's strict with rules, which is a good thing. It helps students become more timely and efficient.

Getting a tutor, in the beginning, would be a great idea to avoid falling behind. A&P is very difficult but she genuinely cares how her students are doing in the class. Prof. SMH is an great A+P Professor. She is very understanding and tries to break down the subject. She will always respond to emails and clarify any questions with a concise answer. Although I had an easy time in her class it was because of study and preparation. Do not expect an easy-A, always give your best effort and you will pass.

Well it's Biology 168 so expect a lot of information and material. You will be very busy with studying and assignments. She does give plenty of study material from lectures, youtube videos, practice quizzes, etc. My advice, when you take such a heavy course like Bio, don't take too many classes at once and just focus on Bio if possible.

After taking this class at East Carolina, I took this class with Mrs.Hollis. I truly regained my confidence thanks to her. She gives amazing resources that reflect the assignments and is extremely helpful in and out of class. Unlike ECU where tests were 95% of your grade, tests in this class are about 70% which allows for room for improvement.
