Her online labs are the easiest things EVER!!! She puts all of her slides online so you don't have to come to class if you don't want. Her study guides are helpful prior to test.

The class requires you to learn a lot of material, as long as you keep on top of things you should be fine. She is very helpful. You can tell she loves biology and really wants her students to do well. I would definitely take another class with her.

Mrs. Hosch is really nice! I love Biology so I may be a bit biased though. Since she has a phD in BioChemistry or something, she really knows what she's talking about. Especially the chemistry portions of the class, which I have a hard time with, she can explain really well!

It's just a HARD CLASS! Need to read the book before and take notes on her notes... She's really helpful if you ask and she curves most of the exams... Need to give time to study though!

She is nice and willing to help, but class is very difficult and you need to to study alot! Use the book, powerpoints, and online materials and study guides to get ready for the tests. This class may not be mandatory for attendance but keep up with the work, it is a lot of material to cover!

If you e-mail her with questions and show her your making some sort of effort, she'll cut you some slack and help more. Make appointments with her, they help and she gives suggestions to how to study the information in a more useful way. From what I've heard about other Bio teachers, she wasn't too bad.

Very good professor, if you actually put the work into it, unlike me. Ask for help if you need it and you should be fine. Tests are multiple choice with a few easy assignments throughout the semester.

This class was ridiculous i hated every second being in that class. She talks really low and talks the entire class peroid so there is no way for you to get all the information nonetheless grasp it. I would totally take a different

Great professor definately knows what she's talking about, you will need the book for the class if you want to get a further understanding. She will work with you if need be. I love biology so overall I grasped the information fairly well. The test and assignments can be difficult but you have to STUDY STUDY STUDY. I would definately take her again

Was pregnant when teaching, and it really affected the class. She was disinterested and flew through material without teaching. Shows lack of interest in biology (she's a biochemist) Don't go to class, just read the chapters before test days and do the easy labs. She put a test day after the superbowl, she's heartless. She knows her stuff, but her class is very hard. study the material before and after the lecture for each chapter. she flys thought the lectures as well. lots of out side studying to be done. Dont take the class unless you are serious about spending time outside of class almost every day

Definitely knows her stuff, but for someone like me who only took BIO 111 as a gen ed, she did nothing to stimulate my interest in the subject. She was relatively boring, and I think that was her fault, not the material's. The class was easy though, as the tests (and final) were all multiple-choice. Not terrible to look at either.

Dr. Hosch is a very good prof. Her tests are very fair. Hearing about other bio teachers at OU... Dr. Hosch is the best one. She is boring but like i said before shes fair. YOU MUST STUDY!!!! and GO to the SI's ...he is SUPER helpful! STUDY STUDY STUDY ..it is possible to 4.0 this class.. i did plus a few others..but u have to work super hard.

Although lectures can drag at times, attendence isn't mandatory. If you read the book and do the practice exams, including the tests from the books website, you'll be well prepared. Tests are curved and labs are are simple. She also gives a weekly online quiz designed to boost your grade. I got a 4.0 and only studied the night before the exams.

Very kind and understanding teacher. If you're sick or cannot attend class/ need more time for a test, she's very understanding! Simple yet you still have to study, even if the night before, for her tests. They're multiple choice and over the material that's important and needed to know. I would take her again for sure!

Dr. Hosch was nice, but her lectures are boring and I didn't learn much from her class. I only learned from the SI guy, Casey (who is really helpful- GO TO HIS SESSIONS). Tests are mult. choice and are straightforward, but there's a TON of material to know. I had a pretty hard time with this class even so. Mediocre experience.

Great prof, she teaches lecture really well and simplifies the material so its understandable. Lectures were very helpful, but reading the book is even better. Tests were basically over basic ideas, not too many in depth questions. Online quizzes almost every week for easy points.

This class was horrible. She is so unorganized and hardly knows what's going on. She doesn't have any time for students outside of class and will spend a good amount of time talking about her kids. She even had an exam question on them! If you need bio 315 my advice is to study your ass off, don't take with other hard classes and pray

this was probably the worst class i have ever taken, i hated dr. hosch, everytime i went to ask for help she didnt make me feel welcome, i am a bio major and she has made me want to change my major, i found that she favors guys and reads right off the slides i wanted to sleep during class and when you ask questions she gets annoyed

I don't understand the negative comments.... Dr. Hosch is a great teacher, very well spoken and is highly educated. She does not spoon feed students though, but will go out of her way for students especially if you do your part. I would take her again in a heartbeat, I learned alot from this class !

No matter how you look at it, it is a tough class. But if you have the appropriate background, take notes out of the book, print out all power points, go to SI, and spend a few day studying for the class you will do well. She's will help if you show concern for what you are learning. After all, she does do a lot for the class.

Dr. Hosch is an amazing professor. She definitely knows her stuff and you can tell she enjoys teaching. She is very clear and organized. Her powerpoints are posted on moodle so it isn't mandatory to go to class but she offers easy points for the people that do come to class. Prof Hosch is a good teacher and communicator. She presents the topics in a clear and understandable fashion. She posts powerpoints on moodle, which is very helpful. She is very open to questions if you take the time to ask. This class wasn't that hard, but it did required a lot of studying. Overall, I would recommend Prof Hosch!

Bio 315 is an extreamly difficult class covering massive amounnts of info, for a good grade be willing to put in atleat 30 hours study time before every exam. That being said Dr. Hosch does a good job presenting all of the major conceps duiring lecture. There are many other assignments apart from exams in the class which are basically free points

Great teacher. Biochem is a hard class--you'll need to study at least a week in advance for all tests. If you've never studied 40 hours for an exam, you will now. Extremely fair grader. Uses power points and videos. TONS of extra credit opportunities, if you fail its your fault. Buy the book, read it, show up to class, study, and you'll get an A.

it was a hard class but dr. hosch taught the material very well. she will meet with you outside of class to go over tests or discuss grades. i would highly recommend attending class as often as possible because this stuff is hard and she makes it that much easier. i would also HIGHLY recommend going to SI. especially if you get sylvia.

She is really nice and gives you a lot of resources to study with. There is a lot of material that you have to learn but a lot of material you have to learn but if you really put in the time and effort and go through the lecture handouts she gives you then you will do fine. You REALLY have to study though. You can get 5 extra credit points.

Not too bad, just make sure that you go over the chapter after the lecture because a lot of the book information isn't necessary for the class. Make sure you print out the lecture slides and bring them to class with you, they're extremely helpful and reviewing them is the best way to study for exams. Tests are pretty hard, just make sure to study.

To be very frank, I havent been to her classes at all. All she does is read her powerpoint notes. She explains a little bit, but that does not help. She never posts the grade on time, and always blame technology. More often, never replies back to your email. She does not care for the class at all. The tests are hard. This class is hard but it can be easy if you put effort into it. Prof Hosch practically prepares you for the exams and tests. All the material is covered in the PowerPoint and Learning goals. She is very helpful outside of class and answers her mails. I would recommend her for any Bio Class!

Hosch is an okay professor, not too good not too bad. For starters: she covers FAR to much in a short period of time, making it hard to know what to study for exams, even with the learning goals. As others have said, it seems like she doesn't want to engage students outside of class. Her work load is good, though, not to little and not to much.

I promise you, if you cannot handle BIO 111 with Dr. Hosch, odds are you will not be able to handle a biology major period, so start looking elsewhere.

If I could do this class over, I'd attend every class, print off the power-points, and do every single online connect module. If you do this, you will get a 4.0! The homework seems repetitive and useless, but she uses a lot of the questions on the exams. She is a very good professor, if you do what she tells you, you will pass no problem.

Very nice and friendly. She explains her lectures well but she is very busy outside of class so she does not have a lot of time to meet up with students whom are confused. I took AP Bio in high school its pretty much the same thing so if you took that you'll do great.

First of any BIO111 class is very hard. Prof. Hosch seems to not be willing to help students outside her class. She posts all of her notes which is great, but she never really gives you anything to really study for her exams. DO ALL of the required online homework,it really helps your grade. I would not recommend her.

Dr. Hosch is an amazing professor! She truly knows her material and presents it in a fantastic fashion. She makes lectures fun and intriguing with case studies and incorporating things such as cancer and HIV to interest the students. Very approachable and always willing to clarify. Do the learning goals/learning exercises! Do the learn smarts!

The course consists of 3 â??mid-termâ?? exams which are 60 multiple choice questions and exam 4/cumulative final during the final exam period. The exam 4 portion is like the other 3, with 60 mc questions and the cumulative final consist on 45 questions on the â??big topicsâ??. There are also 3 virtual labs which can be quite challenging. Study, study!

You will have to complete 10 out of 19 learn smarts which are online modules that ask you questions and if you get them wrong they repeat in a different way and order until you master them. VERY time consuming but a simple way to earn 60 points. If you complete the additional 9, you get 9 points extra credit! She is very willing to help!

You do in class activities time to time with people around you which is a portion of your grade. Print her lecture notes, attend every class, take additional notes and you will succeed. Donâ??t take this class lightly. It is a lot of material (20 chapters worth!) You will need to study, study, study! Its information â??overload.â??

SI was fantastic for this course! Liz Silverman did an awesome job relaying the information in a different way and having her own PowerPointâ??s, examples and Jeopardy games to drive the material into our brains. Go to SI, epically if Liz is running it, it truly helps a lot! If you do bad you didnâ??t try and are lazy!

If you donâ??t have much of a biology and chemistry background take other classes first. A combination of my High School Biology I, Biology II, and AP Biology courses with some Chemistry and additional content Iâ??ve never seen. Have a good background. Between Liz and Hosch there is no reason to fail this class, unless you just donâ??t try and are lazy.

Hosch is always willing to help if your lost. Do her learning goals and learn smarts, she gives you A LOT of resources to help you succeed. She can be ticked off and come off irritated at times but as the semester progresses you see her true colors. Started with 100 people and ended with 50, so this isnâ??t easy, its college!

AMAZING PROFESSOR! Describes everything very clearly and reiterates the more complicated concepts to make sure that they make sense to students. I came into this class without ever having taken a bio course, even in high school, and I got a 4.0. Obviously, you have to study a little, but Dr. Hosch provides all of the materials you need to succeed.

This class is not a blow off, be prepared to work your butt off and study like crazy! Do everything you can to learn the material and go to S.I. There is soo much info. she expects you to know but I ended up with a 3.5. She is really nice and explains everything well but if you ask her a question she'll make you think and won't give you the answer.

Her exams are fair and as long as you study and keep up with the material you will do fine, but be prepared to study bio everyday! Her learning goals that she posts on moodle are extremely helpful. Read the book, do the learnsmart modules, and learning goals and you will do well. There is alot of marteral so you have to be on top of things

Her exams aren't too bad if you study alot!Her questions come pretty much from everything you learn in the slides. She maybe a good teacher for other biology classes but for Biochemistry 2 she was horrible. She was constantly forgetting to post homework, notes, and handouts; if you went and asked her about it she would flip out. She hated questions. She didn't write the quizzes so there were things she never talked about on them. If you can take someone else!

I had Hosch for BIO 425. She is wonderful - email her if you have any question or go to her office hours. Also, go to class. It's interesting and helpful. I LOVED this class! Her clinical applications were really cool too.

Really enjoyed this class. It requires a lot of participation, and she expects a lot from the students. Still, I got a lot out of this class. I recommend having her check the final paper multiple times (like, 5 or 6) before submitting it. Make sure to do the readings and be very well-prepared for the presentations.

She is probably one of the worst professors I've ever had. Her slides don't have anything at all to do with her tests and she doesn't even seem surprised or concerned that the test averages are usually in the 60% considering that it's like 60% of your final grade in the class. I'm really mad I wasted money on this class.She's also not very helpful.

Hosch is very difficult to understand she boring and treats you like a 5 year old kid she is very unapproachable. when you ask for help she makes you feel like your stupid.. she gives in class assignments so if you miss you cannot make that assignment up. she online quizzes are ridiculous..DO NOT TAKE HER!

Glycolysis and GNG are the first part so make sure you know this by heart to make it easy on you. Everything is on powerpoint and you dont need the book i bought it and rarely used it and gota 3.6STUDYHARD

Usually I wouldn't waste my time rating a professor but I had to voice my opinion on her. She was very unapproachable like when you would ask a question she would make you feel dumb. She expects a lot so make sure you know the material. She wouldn't be surprised if the class average on a test was a 65% and wouldn't curve it. GO TO THE SI IT HELPS!!

She's good at her job. I attended class at the assigned times and took notes. I also took booknotes and made sure to complete all the homework. I did very well in her course and enjoyed the class. I would take her again. Test's were not easy but i got 90's so long as i studied. Her class is not a blow off but you LEARNED all the material.

Took her online and her voice is annoying so I stopped watching the lectures. You'll have quizzes due every weekend and no assignments. You'll have two or three discussion forums. She's a decent professor but overall, everything about this course is boring

All I have to say is.. if you're taking BIO 111 DO NOT HAVE HER! She is hard & her powerpoint slides have nothing to do with her exams. She assigns too many quizzes and assignments, and labs... not to mention, they're usually due on the weekends! shes horrible. her lectures are long & boring. its more agonizing when you have her at 8 AM too.

I took this professor online, biggest mistake I've made. She expects you to dedicate 25-30 hours a week for her class alone, not realizing you're probably taking other tough classes. If you get behind even a little, forget it. It's tough!

okay, this may sound biased as i am a biology major but Dr. Hosch is considerate and accommodating. Her class has always been tough (which is what you would expect in an upper level bio class) but she grades fairly. She was very clear with her grading criteria and follows through with it. Ihad her for two classes. I had her for BIOCHM2 and purposefully took her class the following year for Scientific Inquiry. She really cares about her student's success. Her office is ALWAYS open. She even helped me apply for grad school and read over essays not for her class. She is a great mentor and a great professor. If you're lazy, don't bother

She is the best! This class was really interesting and I learned a lot. Participation matters but it's not difficult to get your points because the discussions are fun and there's lots to say about the topics.

Shes a very good teacher. Not necessarily easy but if you do the work and stay ahead you should get a decent grade in her class. Attend the lectures because they help clarify the notes. Dont study the night before because you wont be able to process all the information you need

She is an amazing instructor, was very clear in her instruction, and was very helpful in explaining the material to you, if you are having difficulty she is will to help, and if you don't have certain background prior to taking the class she will assist you in understanding it! No exams, but their are group projects, and class participation.

I LOVE Sarah. This was my first semester in college and I passed with a 3.9, she was such a great professor and her exams are straight from her powerpoints. Always talked about her kids and husband but I loved that she was a human and not a typical boring professor. Overall I would recommend her for bio 111, I wish she taught 113 or physio!

Horrible professor. Does not tell you exactly what is on exam. Gives long power points that have way too much information on them. No study guides and no quizzes. Your grade is based off the exams. My highest exam grade was a 60.

she's an alright professor, but is rude if you talk to her or email her. i don't know why people are complaining about the grading, I did really bad (60-65%) on the exams and ended with a 3.0 so do the online assignments they matter.

I took this course online during Summer and it is not easy. This online course was consists of 3 discussion forum, 2 quiz, 3 exams and end of chapter practices that usually takes a lot of time. We did 3 chapters a week. I suggest not taking it online. Her exams were straight forward; no tricks or anything just a lot of memorization.

Not only is her online lectures very long but when watching them its unclear most of the time what she's even referring to. When she writes on the slides its in big red marker, you can't even see what she wrote. The powerpoint are unclear and hard to follow. She is unclear with what is on exams and won't give you the answers to handouts.

She is extremely rude over email, snarky, and unclear in her power points. The quizzes and tests do not correlate what so ever with her lectures or power points making it difficult to achieve a high grade in the class as it is unclear what she expects. She wants you to have critical thinking skills but does not teach students how to acquire them.

I really enjoyed having Hosch for bio. She explains the topics very well and uses many different methods to measure performance. Instead of your final grade just being exams and quizzes, she also includes virtual labs, connect modules, and in-class group work. She posts a lot of study tools on moodle and if you just use those and read you can pass.

The overall class is a lot for first time college students. I was overwhelmed in the beginning but after finishing the class I did just fine. She has a lot of problem solving questions that make you think for the answer. Recommend never getting behind and doing notes before class. Homework , EC, online quizzes per chapter and 4 exams.

Her bio 495 (scientific and inquiry class) class was awesome, the work is average and very doable. If you take it with another professor you may have to write a 20 page research paper and we did not. She makes this class very interesting and engaging. The participation is easy and just talk about your personal option on bioethics topics.

Overall she's alright, class takes time to get use to esp first time college students. DO NOT get behind and follow lectures. grades include virtual labs, connect modules, and in-class group work. Incredibly personable and knowledgable. Her class is comprised of four exams (one being the final), iClicker questions, timed online quizzes, critical thinking team problems, and virtual labs. Don't expect to sleepwalk through the class, but also don't expect to be studying for 18-20 hours/week as many people did. YouTube will be your best friend.

Professor Hosch is absolutely one of my favorite professors at OU. I was very nervous about taking this class because of how hard it is, but I'm so glad I had her. With yesterday being my last Zoom lecture with Dr. Hosch, I can say that she's an AMAZING professor! Biology is a pretty hard subject, but the amount of work and material she offers makes learning much easier. She responds to emails quickly, and is quick to apologize when she makes a mistake. I love biology much more because of her!

Perfect, no other way to describe her. The grading scale is fair and accurate, very easy to reach out to, and willing to help in any way. This is of course a tough class, but she makes biochemistry mostly palatable. Everything is from the lecture videos and book. Don't Slack and you'll definitely do good. 100/10 recommend.

You're able to get 100% on the majority of HW assignments. Her lectures are extensive and she'll happily go over any questions. To study, make sure to annotate the PowerPoint and watch crash courses to clear up any confusion. Her tests can be hard, but as long as you put in the work to study (not at the last minute) you can definitely get an A+.

Professor Hosch is a great professor. Sometimes her lectures can be quick and you will need to do a little digging on your own to have a better understanding of topics for conceptual questions but other than that she is amazing. Dr. Hosch is very nice, but she is way to smart to be teaching intro bio. She focuses on biochemistry a lot in her lectures, which is very difficult for those who don't know much bio. BIO 1200 is a hard course but Sarah Hosch makes it so much simpler! She provides outlines with study guide practice problems. FILL OUT THE OUTLINES!! The outlines have all the information you need for the test. Listen to her lectures she takes notes with you at times she is very knowledgeable.

This is the best professor for this course based off students taking the other Bio professors and myself. She has long slides but they cover everything you need to know.She takes her time helping students understand and draws things out in easy to understand ways. Be ready for a lot of homework, including case studies. Exams are challenging with 20-40 fill-in-the-blank pathways, 3-4 short answers, and around 70 multiple-choice clinical questions. You also only get 1 hour and 47 minutes for each exam. There is also a lot of reading for each exam. This class was definitely the hardest class in college so far.

I took Bio 1200 as a repeat. Taking this class with Professor Hosch was a much better experience. Although the class moved fast she taught it well and provided a lot of resources. She was always accessible outside of class if you need extra help. It definitely seemed like she cared for her students and wanted to see them succeed.
