Best teacher at SCC!!! Really cares about the students and wants them to succeed. She won’t just pass you but she will work with you and give you a 4.0 if you can show her you clearly understand everything required by the state. In other words, if you screw up a quiz or exam you can still get a 4.0. Thanks Sarah!

Don't take this class if you don't like robotic perfectionist mathmaticians. She expects you to learn by reading a text book which is simply not how you learn math. I am just now getting graded on assignments from the beginning of the quarter. I saw little to no effort on her part to teach this course. If you are able to learn math from text book readings and little help from a teacher take her class.

Don't take her unless you're OK self-teaching. She expects you to learn from the book, brief summaries, other teachers (she posts links to youtube lectures), and other students. She will respond if you email her, but you have to reach out. I don't feel like I learned much and would not take her again. That being said, it was a fairly easy grade.

There are lot of grading methods that u can get a good grade, especially when u gain a full mark in the ONLINE WebAssign homework, the hand-writing homework, and participation (ask or answer questions), it is easy when u take it online. She also give detail explanation to the exam questions that u don't know.

She literally gets paid to simply assign impossible homework... she doesn't teach at all and rarely responds to emails. Really hard to pass a class when nothing is taught and her expectations are not communicated at all (which she is SO particular. I literally got 20% off of a perfect grade because it accidentally submitted sideways) DO NOT TAKE

You only need MathLab, it has the Digital Textbook in it. You have two assignments each week, one online through MyMathLab that you can see your grade as you go. The other is a hand written question that you use what you learned from the lab. Says you don't need to take midterm, if I could go back I would have. She provides equations on the final.

She grades you using eight different ways to give you the best possible grade and gave extra questions on the exam which counted towards extra credit. But there's a bunch of homework due at the end of the qtr so make sure to catch up! Also, she talks too fast for my liking so avoid taking the 2h30m classes or else expect a lot of self-studying!

Sarah is a great professor and gives thorough and detailed feedback and explanations of anything, ever. The class with her is engaging, and her teaching style is great. She is also a very fair grader and uses one out of five different grading techniques to best fit your strengths in her class. 10/10 would take every math class with her.

Lovely person, cares a lot about her students and is passionate about her job. She moves very quickly but she's a fair grader and is amazing at explaining things more thoroughly to confused students. Overall, she seems to fully understand the best way to help students succeed and is the best math professor I've taken a class from at SCC so far.

This class is all self-taught, you have to read the book to learn the content, which isn't how you learn math. All of the extra content she provides is from other teachers. The show your work assignments are completely different from the book and the math lab assignments. Avoid this class if you can't self teach or if you're not good at stats.

First few weeks are not bad as the material is easy to self teach. But after the midterm homework started to get a lot harder with less and less help on the MathLab app, her homework assignments are anywhere from 40-55 questions which are 90% long story problems which is very time consuming takes about 3-6 hours to complete.

Definitely a self taught class. If you already know you're going to struggle, then do yourself a favor and don't take this class online; I regret it. Written HW is not the same as MyLab, and MyLab can have up to 60 questions & take hours to complete. No actual instruction, just a lot of YouTube and TONS of reading. It's EXTREMELY time consuming.

It is my first quarter at Shoreline Community College and I did not expect online instruction to equate to "self taught." Professor Leyden does not teach, she simply throws you a set of readings and course guidelines. This course eats up a ton of time and the homework eats up hours upon hours. You're better off learning stats on khan academy.

Porfessor Leyden loves power trips as much as she hates teaching. She will give written assignments where you will lose points for even the slightest deviations from here instructions even if you get the correct answer and show all your work. If you take a course with this professor you may recieve a poor grade even if you understatd the cirriculum

She doesn't teach at all. All she does is force you to pay for an online program (that sucks btw) and make you teach yourself everything. She does not have any helpful lectures or zoom meetings. She also took way too long to grade any of my assignments. Don't take this class if you have a hard time with online classes/self-taught classes.

Doesn't feel like a class as much as being tutored by professor Umbridge. Started the quarter with an assignment (worth 0 points but required to unlock the course modules) for students to handwrite "I will do my work on time" and sign it and upload to canvas. Very strict no-late work policy even though she grades at a snails pace. Never again.

If I could rate this prof a 0 I would. HW consist of 30-50 multiple choice and Write Up assignments that aren't similar to current chapter work. Grades are not posted until the end of the quarter making it hard to know how you're doing. She is slow to respond and not very helpful when asking for assistance for stats concepts or even homework.
