She's tough but I like the class. She always willing to help you and its fun.
Shes a really good teacher. Shes really helpful and funny. Class was never boring when i was in it. The readings were really interesting too, i recommend her!!!
She's really funny and super helpful. I like the stuff you do in class and it's actually useful.
She is a great teacher. Sometimes she misspells some words and some of her sentences do not make sense and some of her directions are vague, but she is always willing to correct herself. You'll have a lot of homework for this class. Finals and midterms were a cinch. Projects are extremely easy. She grades fair. She is not mean at all.
Sarah is not what you would expect in a normal teacher. She likes to joke around and act as if we are all her friends instead of students. Sarah is very easy to talk to and she loves to entertain her class. If you are thinking about taking a reading class, take Sarah! She's great!
one of the best teachers i eva had. Makes it fun and its useful.
She's easy and she doesn't give slot of reading also she's funny n are a cluts at time..
She cares about students. Also she is very helpful. I have so much fun in class, and i love my classmates. She can make her class like a family. We all enjoy that.
Cool to talk to..she can relate to young people. you will learn in her class! TAKE HER!
Shes awesome, I would highly recommend her.She really cares for the students, she grades easy and the work is easy. Shes down to earth funny. Just take her YOU WON"T REGRET IT. SO IF YOU NEED A BOOST ON YOUR GPA :) IT IS A FUN CLASS
She's definitely a great teacher albeit kooky, but I felt that stemmed from my rambunctious classmates. Just pay attention to what she says and do the homework as it pertains to her quizzes and test. A majority (if not all) of the in-class assignments are from the course reader, so it would be wise to buy the course reader or have a printer handy.
Pretty fun teacher but doesn't grade easy
she's a nice teacher, close to students and i really like her!
She's funny, engaging, helpful and passionate. Take her!
If your thinking about taking a reading class, take Sarah! It's No REGRETS, a fun and awesome class if your needing a boots threw your day. Ms. Lisha is tough but I strongly recommend her she's funny, pretty and passionate about her LART211 class.
Super awesome!. This class really helped me to prepare for EWRT 1A.
EASY, she keeps you awake by teaching modern day subjects that can relate to us like raves, parties, drugs, school, life, family, work, etc... She is awesome, some bit of reading and hw but you will learn. Prepared me for eng 1a with no doubt. She loves to laugh and crack jokes. Shes also very easy on the eyes
She is a great teacher.
Lisha is a great inst.shes clear and can really connect with her students. She is really loud and full of energy. She treats her students like high school students, there is a lot of group work and pretty straight forward class.Personally I wouldnt take her class again.I have always been a good student, and she would pick on me,never found a reason why
Funny and an intelligent teacher! Highly recommended!
She knows her stuff! Had her for LART 211 also, and she turns a complex class into a very fun and comfortably easy. Really nice person too. Highly recommended!
Great professor, very efficient and will help you learn. She is not a hard grader. I'm the type who hate English and Sarah was a big inspiration for me. Took her for both Lart 211 and Ewrt 1A. I enjoy the class and learned a lot. Take her!
This class was vary interesting and fun. However, she is the hardest grader I've ever taken before. If you want to get solid A, don't take her.
Professor Lisha is awesome! Very very helpful. She is a really great professor. I learned a lot in her class and she is the type of professor that really helps you and wants you to succeed. Keep up the great work Professor Lisha!
She's gem!I've taken her for LART211 and EWRT1A. Work is fair, 4 essays and 1 presentation for 1A. If you need help, go to her office hour;she'll help you. She's clear and discussion is very interesting. She even offers me letter of recommendation which is great! I've got A in her class!
Best teacher I meet at de anza. Really nice and helpful. I took her LART 200, LART 211, English 1A. I miss her!!
easy teacher; basically forces you to read the book; great teacher though, easy going and friendly; Easy class jus do the work
Such a gem she really can make you understand what is expected of you when writing college level papers. Very helpful if you ask for the help. Makes you utilize the WRC center. Two in class essays, two takehome essays, your reflection paper, and a group project. A lot of extra hw but manageable. I recommend her to anyone enrolling to 1A.
I just have to say that she is the best, clear, easygoing, and fair.
I just have to say that she is the best. Clear, easygoing, nice, kind, and helpful. I wish she teaches EWRT 2.
She is a great teacher! The lectures are enjoyable and she is just hilarious. However, she is quite a tough grader. Other than that, I highly recommend her for Ewrt1A!
Guess what? I got a fever! And the only prescription... is more PIE!
Really great class. She's very easy going and a fair grader. We read American Born Chinese. Essay directions were very clear. Great class, very enjoyable. Highly recommended for English 1B!
AWESOME Teacher! She makes you work for your grade, but you won't regret the work. She inspires you to do more than you think you can and makes you want to impress with your writing. LOVE her!!
Sarah is always makes jokes in class and makes things funny. I loved coming to class. But, she is a realy hard grader. If you want an A, take someone else. But if you wan to come to class and like it, take Sarah.
She is a very clear teacher and she is willing to help you if you ask her. Her grading criteria is very clear and there are example essays in the course package if you need help on how she is grading and what she is looking in the essays. Overall, she is a very great teacher! Taking her again!
Taking her again after EWRT211. She is still a very helpful teacher and her grading is still the same as in EWRT211. Nothing changes except the critical thinking part. She wants to see how well described your critical thinking and opinion is. She is a great teacher! I love her! I would take her again if she ever teacher EWRT1B or other EWRT classes
AWESOME TEACHER EVER!!! Will take her again.
Sarah is good professor but a tough grader. Have to really work hard to get an A. Her class is easy over all with 1 book to read and 5 papers. See her during her office hours, she gives good feedback on papers.
She is a funny professor. You will get help from her class.
Sarah is one of the best English professors I've ever had. She gives you great feedbacks, and you will definitely learn a lot from her. Her class is so fun, she does a lot of activities, and she's hilarious. I loved going to her class.
Sarah makes the class really interesting, and she's hilarious! She does a lot of activities, makes the class fun, and you will learn a lot along the way. She gives great examples, and makes everything super easy to understand. On essays, she's a little tough, but she gives you great feedback.
Sarah Is a really good professor. I took her for EWRT 211 and EWRT 1A. She is willing to work with you if you need help. Her lectures are not long but require group work. Her writing units have interesting topics, with one book. I grew as a writer in her class since we provides good feedback. I recommend her!!
She's a really chill and super dedicated teacher. If you commit you can do really well in her class. Its an easy B, but you're gonna have to work to get an A. But if you're looking to become a better writer, she's your gal.
Took her in the spring, all I can say is I didn't pass her class due to the fact that she gave the whole class a tough final at the end because we didn't do a homework assignment. She's helpful and all, but that wasn't fair.
Took her for 1b. The class is about pop culture. Talked about music. Pretty chill.
Sarah is a great teacher! Homework is mostly short readings and grammar exercises. 4 essays and one group project. She is a pretty tough grader and really makes you work for your grade, but still a good teacher. If you're looking for an easy A, this is not your class. If you want to learn a lot and attend fun and interesting lectures, take Sarah!
She is the sweetest! There are I believe 4 essays that we do; 2 at home, 2 in-class. The book we read is actually very interesting and I must say, I am not a reader. Sarah has such good spirit. It is a pass or no pass class.
She's amazing. Class is structured so well. She grades pretty fairly, a little on the tough side maybe but she's super helpful so as long as you seem like you care about passing the class, do all the work and show up to class and do your best on the essays, you'll be fine.
HYBRID 1B CLASS: In class lectures are unnecessary but shes chill and it is only 2 days a week. Clear grading. If you don't know MLA format, you better learn it. When she advises you to read ahead of time, do it. Group quizzes! You can talk to her about anything. She emails back really fast. I highly recommend her. I wish she taught more classes
Sarah is amazing!!!! She's one of the best dedicating and inspiring prof in De Anza. She knows how to make the lectures interesting, and she always finds ways to get the students involved and engaged. Brings lots of discussions into class and always eager to hear from students. For essays, she gives tons of great feedback. TAKE HER!!! Lots of fun.
Sarah is the best professor out there. She gives alot of work but its not hard and all of it helps you become a better writer. She makes english fun and she really cares about all her students. She responds really fast via email. Lots of pair share work during class 1 group presentation project. About 4-5 essays. Her grading criteria is very clear
The material Sarah covers really grabbed my attention. It isn't the typical classical literature you find in other English classes. She won't really shut you down in class discussions either, so feel free to participate! Pretty easy grading in my opinion, and she gives you plenty of chances to get your score up if you mess up.
Love her! Her material is very relate-able. She's funny and keeps it interesting. Don't miss class and you will easily get an A.
highly recommended! I took Sarah in EWRT 1A and it was amazing, she is funny but an amazing inspiration source. She gives a lot of feedback and requires you to take your essay to online/ face to face tutor to become a better writer. She speaks about relevant topics.
I LOVE Sarah!! She is super nice and all the work she gives is so manageable. I took her for 211 and 1A because of how nice she is and cares about her students! I honestly really recommend taking her!
I am not native English Speaker. I finished her assignments in time. Her lecture is not boring. She is an amazing teacher.
I am taking her class this quarter, she is a funny teacher.
Amazing professor! Relevant, and I truly improved as a writer in both writing and thinking. Respects her patience and her way of teaching is great! Organized with a plan, 4 essays, do it ahead of schedule makes it a lot easier. Take her if you can!
The professor is very nice and organized. I think students can pass her class as long as they just follow and do the assignment she asks.
Overall, the class is an A if you pay attention and put in the work. Her class is very relaxed as most of the time she does lecture, but they are fun and enjoyable. Grades are based on some assignments (worksheets + in class work), but is most based on no more than five essays. She is a great teacher and all of the other positive reviews are true.
Humorous and nice. Put in the work, participate, take notes, and you should get a decent grade. She is a little easier on you if your first language is anything other than English. Attendance not mandatory.
I had an anxiety attack in the midst of writing my in-class essay and she was very understanding. She let me visit her the next day during her office hours to finish writing the essay and turn it in. She also gave out lots of extra credit. In general, Sarah really cares about her students and wants them to succeed.
Love her class! Have taken so many boring classes that repeat same stuff over and over. I like that she has do new fun things that actually make me think.
Sarah is an incredible professor. She brought us cutie oranges during the first day of class and encourages breaking the ice between all of the students. Mid-way through the quarter we were all talking and knew each other by name. Sarah focuses her content on modern culture which makes the reading super fun! Group presentations and less writing!
Her EWRT1A is an easy A if you really put your times on reading and writing. I got an A+ from her even though my first language is not English, and I think there is no reasons for the native speakers to think that her class is hard. (She also provides tons of extra credits, so at the end of the quarter, I got 106% of the grade)
Sarah is very approachable and offer a lot of extra credit. Her grading criteria is clear and easy to follow. 3 papers in total. Allow resubmission for one of your paper if your grade is lower than 83%. Easy A if you visit her during office hours and make changes based on her comment.
She's a good professor and I would recommend you take her class. I took her online class.
I love Sarah! She is the best professor I've had at college so far. I had her for EWRT and then for English 1A. She want you to understand how to become a good writer and how to write well in general. The only thing is that her class is very repetitive. So, if you take her twice except her lectures, worksheets, etc to be them same. Overall awesome!
I really can say that she is awesome if you get this chance to take her to do that immediately. she does a lot in class and really caring, even if you are not an A student she will help you a lot to get that A. She is fantasticcccccccccccc.
Professor Lisha is amazing! I took her online class but got a chance to meet her in person during her office hours. She gives a clear feedback on each essay and clarifies what she expects from you. Also, she gives extra credit exercises that help a lot to boost up your grade. Very nice teacher!
Theres a reason why Sarahs class is one of the first to fill up. She certainly doesnt grade too harshly on essays making obtaining an A very easy. She also gives an extra credit opportunity every class so by the end of the quarter, I had accumulated 50 ec points. You also get to read a comic book instead those long boring novels. Very fun class!
If you want to pass Sarah's EW1A Canvas class, you would need to complete every assignments on time, use the Easy Writer, and tutoring for ALL essay assignments. Tutors can help you improve your grammar and make clear content! If English is not your first language, then you don't need to hesitate because Sarah can support you! Good luck and achieve
Back in high school I always procrastinated and failed on my essays badly by not knowing how to cite my sources and making stronger thesis statements and topic sentences. Luckily, Sarah's class along with some tutors from the WC helped me on the way, and I was able to pass on all of my assignments. She is the best English teacher I have so far.
We got to read two comic books and Ready Player One for the summer class. Super responsive. Extra Credit! EASY A if you put the effort in. Very nice professor. Wants you to pass.
I took Professor Lisha for Winter 2020 Quarter. She is very friendly and easy going since you are allowed to collaborate on quizzes. Although there are a lot of writing assignments, at the end of the quarter, she assigns optional revisions for a higher grade; lastly, she gives a lot of extra credit, which gives you a greater chance of getting an A.
I'm very thankful she's organized and replies to questions asap! This was my first online class and I'm glad prof lisha was organized to make the course easier. She offers a lot of extra credit but do your best in discussion posts!
here's my long overdue rating for sarah. she's an awesome english teacher who clearly breaks down how to organize your ideas in essays. remember PIE: point, information, evidence. she cares about her students, too :) if i had to take another english class that she teaches, i'd pick her again 100%. if the class is full, see me on the waitlist
She is best English professor at De Anza. Her reading book is actually a comic book. she does not want students to read a boring novel.
I took Sarah for 1A and 1B and she is a truly wonderful English teacher. If you like graphic novels then you would enjoy her class. She quickly responds and is very caring. She really want to see her students succeed. Never thought of myself as a "good" writer until after her class.
She is a kind professor who helped me improve my writing skills.
Sarah Lisha is super nice and replies quickly to emails if you have any questions. There were 5 modules total, each one lasted for two weeks. Lessons were in short video form, and there was a quiz at the end of each module. Final research project was on a topic of your choosing (literally anything) and was a visual format rather than written.
Sarah is such an amazing teacher. I took her class this Winter quarter of 2021. She is responsive when you have questions and gives extra credit. She really does care about current events such as BLM and LGBTQ matters. I will keep her in mind for any further English classes. Although this was an online class, everyone was very nice and welcoming.
Very easy A. No essays, just big discussion posts, a few multiple-choice quizzes that are very easy, and creating a webpage as the final. Material is actually interesting, reading graphic novels and watching videos, instead of reading long boring novels. Lots of extra credit opportunities; finished the class with 100%+. Highly recommend.
Sarah is an amazing professor. You can tell she took so much time to organize her modules as neatly as possible. She taught very relevant material and our final was to create an Adobe Sparks page which I feel can be extremely useful to know how to do. When I got covid she was extremely understanding in turning in late assignments, no missed points.
I thought this class was going to be boring because it’s critical thinking class, but prof Lisha sets her canvas modules in a fun way. I think we had around 3-4 major writing assignments in total where she gives feedback. Make sure to participate in the discussions and do the assignments in between the modules.
Very easy A+. She is super understanding about late work and will usually give you full credit. There is also a lot of EC available. Most assignments are short and easy to do. No final research paper, you make a website about any piece of literature- TV show, novel, film, etc.
The workload is really light, you could do the assigned work for the entire week in just an hour or two. Most of what you'll be doing is canvas discussions, but there are only 1-2 a week. Also, quizzes are multiple-choice AND you get multiple tries. No traditional essays either, just one analysis on any book/movie/show you want due at the end. Fun!
Sarah is super nice and understanding. The material she teaches can be connected back to real life which I really liked. I HATE English (and English is my 2nd language) classes but I honestly really LOVED this one. TAKE HER CLASS!!!
It is extremely recommended to take her. all quizzes and final exam are unlimited time and attempts. she's very nice and caring.
Professor Lisha is great! This is one of the easiest English classes that I've ever taken. She makes it very clear how things will be graded on the rubric, the structure of the class is great, and she is lenient on late work. It's mostly full of discussion posts and writing assignments with a few quizzes but is very manageable. Take this class!
Definitely easy A. You will write 3 essays in this class---narrative, evaluative, and analysis essay. you can revise one of the 3 essays. 3-4 small extra credits. Professor Sarah is really kind and understanding. She mostly does not take points off for late submissions.(but have some limitations). Need to read a comic book in this class.
Great teacher. She's a positive professor and really makes you interested in literature. Also pretty lenient and gives out extra credit opportunities.
Sarah is a great professor, she's given me extra credit on assignments that were just normal assignments. 1 research paper at the end of the quarter and as long as you complete your work you should receive an A in this class. 10/10 professor who seems to truly care about her students.
The go-to asynchronous English professor! She is super nice, the class is a breeze, didn't write a single essay. An amazing approach to what an English class can be, and definitely a must-take if you need EWRT 1B.
Very encouraging and one of the best professor I have ever taken.
3 essays and she breaks them down so that one week you're working on the brainstorm/rough draft and the next is the final draft. Grade depends on other assignments along with essays so you can still get a good grade if you fail a paper. The only book is a comic book! No minus grades its either A or A+! She really cares for her students. Take her!!
You wont get full credit even if you meet the requirements? You only get 100% if you go above & beyond. Going above & beyond should be e/c, not the expectation. If she wanted us to write an extra page, find extra sources, ect. then it should have been in the assignment instructions. Why say we need 5 paragraphs when you want 6+ for full credit.
1A is easy enough that you could get an A with any teacher you want. The workload is not too much and assignments are super easy. The topics for the essay are fun and she grades very leniently on them. Overall, good teacher if you want an easy A and an online class.
1. Amazing English Professor. 2. Your Midterms and Quizzes not too heavy, it is easy. 3.Very good professor
I took EWRT1A + 2 with her and you should take her. She is super understanding and willing to help (allows late hw). Unlimited attempts for quizzes. The only thing to look out for is to read the rubric for writing assignments. She only gives out 100% for going above and beyond (extra paragraphs, quotes, ect.). Not a lot of work, mainly discussions.
i would recommend this prof!
Hands down, the easiest EWRT class I've taken. The readings and essays are very manageable and not difficult. A lot of your grade comes from simply participating in canvas discussion. The quizzes, midterm, and final are all free points, since you get multiple attempts. Also you get some easy extra credit.
This is the most laid back chill class I have ever taken. Even if I had 1 hour left before a deadline, I could finish the work for this class in 10-20 minutes. You could probably get an A if you closed your eyes and did the work too. I would 100% recommend if you just want to take for credit and get over with it. Not essay heavy which is a plus.
Great professor for my accelerated summer quarter course! Manage your time well to excel. To get a 100, exceed the paper requirements. There's a great late pass system that I used once. I'll take her EWRT 2 course in the fall. Do finish the extra credit assignments; they're quick and offer a small boost to your grades.
THE BEST! I had her for online and in-person classes. I would greatly recommend taking her classes in person; she is so fun and entertaining. She is super understanding and super accommodating! You will get an A if you complete all the work! She has late passes if you need more time for assignments. Her canvas is super easy to navigate! 12/10 recd!
I enjoyed Professor Lisha's class. The rubric is clear, and the feedback is good. She gives you a chance to redo one essay towards the end of the quarter. The workload is manageable with the structure she puts out.
Uses turn it in.
Has Online Modules and video's all set up. Not much reading except one short comic book. Easy grader and allows you to redo one of the 3 essays. Uses TurnItIn so don't cheat she doesn't grade hard.
Professor Lisha's EWRT2 class is a breeze - easy readings, manageable essays, and unlimited attempts on quizzes. unstuck study was a lifesaver for study prep alongside the textbook.
Took her 1A hybrid class. Hated her inperson classes and felt like a complete waste of time. Most of the class time was spent in group discussions, with topics that don't relate to the class. Her classes would be less than 10 minutes without these discussions. However her homework is easy, essays were graded fairly/clearly with feedback given.
Very light lectures, and usually dismisses the class about an hour early. Not a lot of homework, but a very tough grader. I don't find her feedbacks very useful, too.
Sarah is really sweet and funny. She balances teaching writing structure with creativity very well. The class is well paced and she is pretty forgiving.
Sarah is a phenomenal professor. She allows unlimited use on late passes, was happy to work with me on giving me feedback on late essays, and was wonderful to talk to. She's incredibly supportive and accommodating, and gives many opportunities for extra credit in class. You do two essays, one in class writing assignment, and everything else is easy
Was a really sweet professor that really engaged with the class and made me feel much more confident about my writing. The essays and assignments we had were also kind of fun so I would highly recommend!
Loved Prof Lisha's class! Very clear grading requirements/rubric. She also offers a late pass in case you don't have enough time to do an assignment up to week 10. Would recommend.
One of the best class I've had at DA. She genuinely cares about her students, is super kind, and makes class fun and engaging. She gives clear rubrics and sample essays, so you always know what's expected. Everything feels fair and organized. Highly recommend her, especially for international students. Don't stress too much about perfect English.
Professor Lisha is the most compassionate teacher I've had at De Anza. She's taken extra training in how to teach effectively, and it shows. I struggle with focus but earned an A thanks to her clear, kind support. Her syllabus is the clearest I've seen—she sets the GOLD STANDARD and made me feel confident in the coursework. I loved Prof. Lisha.
if u suck at english or english isn't ur first language js take her for the A
Show up to class, she offers extra credit for participating, and there's in class assignments that aren't accessible if you don't show up. Quizzes have unlimited retakes while essays require a visit to the tutoring center so plan for that outside of class. She offers candy which is a thumbs up for me. Overall, great professor and laidback class.
Good teacher, a lot of announcements. "group assignments" is mainly just a lot of discussion posts (which aren't bad) and peer feedback. Quizzes are easy and the class material is actually really interesting. Prof also asks for feedback from students semi-frequently. The big projects are kinda big so don't procrastinate and you'll be fine.
