Dr. McNew was not the greatest of professors to me. She seemed really nice when I first met her but she had a bit of an attitude when you are asking for assistance. Her teaching style is bogus. She goes over info too quick and I hated her class. Don't take her if possible.
McNew is seemed nice to me, she always replied to my emails and this class is so easy. Just do the research projects study the definitions a little before the test and its an easy A. I think I had over 100% in her class. Take her.
Dr. McNew is a great professor. She will listen to you if you explain that you need an ext. Also, the tests are just LIKE the review questions she posts on blackboard. Study those, you'll be fine. I got an A in the class :)
I liked this class and found it interesting. The test are straight off the study guide, and are the points for the class. You only do one assignment in the class which is a paper. She does allow extra credit.
This is a very easy class as long as you go and take notes. The notes you take in class is almost the test in a nut shell. Sometimes the material is a little dry but thats the only bad thing about the class. Shes very nice and its an easy A
Easy A. As long as you come to class and study a little you should have no problem.
Her lectures are indepth. Her tests are straight from the lectures. Its easy, but you need to study so you don't get tripped up by some answers. You shouldn't get less than a B if you study the night before and pay attention.
She tells you whats going to be on the test. Thats all you need to know about her to take her!
I thought McNew was nice and a good teacher at first. Then I made an appointment to see her about a test. She totally blew me off. The tests suck too. Don't take her, unless you want to hear her two sons' whole life stories and how she screws with their brains just because she has a Phd in psych.
I was interested in psychology, but heard that in college it was a really difficult class. Sara was so helpful and sweet. She was a great teacher, but very understanding if you missed class. She even lets people make up tests, which I know most teachers don't do. She makes tests easy to read and they are ALL multiple choice!!!
Easy class, never cracked the book... but maybe thats just me?
The class was not very hard. She really never kept us to the end of the class. She gave you the study guide right from the test. She is laidback and going to class isnt madatory. She was very interesting
She is a great teacher. This class is mostly boring lecture, but you rarely stay the whole 50 mins. When she reviews for a test, if you write down what she says in the same order...she's reading it right from the test! Easy A. She always tells you to read the chapters...yeah, never did that! And I still got an A.
Since you pretty much have to take PSY 121, take it with Dr. McNew. She tries to keep the information interesting, and only teaches what you need to know (and then gives study guides to reiterate the necessary info!). She is friendly and nice; just take notes and study for the multiple-choice tests and you'll do fine.
TAKE HER FOR INTRO TO PSYCHOLOGY!!! Her reviews tell you exactly what is going to be on the test. She's wonderful to work with--very clear, helpful, and...easy.
She is a great teacher and very helpful. If you have to take Psychology, you want to take her, she is the best teacher for this class.
Okay, I rarely went to class. Rarely. Still, I was able to get an A in class so that I didn't even have to take the final at the end of the semester. TAKE HER. She's easy, clear, and will answer ANY questions you have. If I was interested in psychology (which I'm not) I'd definitely take her again.
Gives so much extra credit its hard not to get an A.
Dr. McNew was a fabulous teacher. I had heard how hard of a class psych. 121 was, and was a little nervous to take it. She gives you a complete review for each exam, and if you study just that you will be fine. I ended up with a 98% in the class!
Ms. McNew is an excellent teacher. She doesn't require you to go to class, although taking her notes for the powerpoints is helpful. She has a review day before every test where she pretty much tells you all the questions that are on the test. If you go to the review, you will be guaranteed an easy A.
She is a great teacher. She pretty much gives you the questions to the test the class before when she tells you what to study. It's a pretty easy class to do good in.
She is very nice and helps a lot when you need help. Take this class with her if you need to take psych. She will do review days and tells you everything that is on the test. She is amazing
Dr. McNew is absolutely amazing. This class is beyond easy as she tells you exactly what to study ahead of time. She is so nice and will help you as best she can, but I doubt you need help as long as you get the notes. I stopped reading the chapters and I still have an A. I would recommend this teacher.
Shes great!!
EASY, EASY, EASY class. Attend class on review and test days and briefly study the powerpoints and you're golden.
Easiest A EVER! She gives you every question that is on the tests, so go to the review days. Print off the powerpoints so that you can take notes, otherwise you won't get all of the information down. Attend class as much as possible because she gives out quite a bit of extra credit. A in class = NO FINAL EXAM :)Take her! She's awesome!!
AMAZING!!! She will help you when you need it, but if you print the powerpoints, attend class for extra credit, and listen to the question-by-question review then this class is an easy A! She also makes her class relate to real life with her stories of her patients. Definitely take her if you have to take this class! :)
This teacher is great! She is really helpful. Make sure and attend the class before the test because she will give you what is on the test. If you study what she sais, easy A. If you have an A proir to the final, you won't have to take it.
She tried harder than most of the kids in the class to give you an A! She gives extra credit and if you have an A you get out of the final. Just go to class to make sure you get the extra credit.
This class was so easy! All the notes are powerpoint, which she puts on blackboard. She also gives out extra credit. If you have an A before the final, you dont have to take the final!
Fantastic teacher. You should definitely take her when you take this class. She is not only helpful, but she's interesting. I really enjoyed this class.
Don't bother reading the book because everything is on PowerPoint presentations. Be prepared to hear "In looking at" 100 times a class. Easy A. She is very nice and helpful, but the class was easier than grade school. Poach those Psych credits online! They're a pain to finish towards the end.
McNew is a very nice woman and a great teacher. Her class was extremely easy. I went to the class before the test to get the study guide, made sure I knew the terms and concepts, and got an A on every test. extremely easy.
I love this teacher. She's really easy and helpful. If you just study the notes you'll defenitly make an A. I learned a lot from her class and would take it over again if I could.
This class is so easy! You just have to show up for review day. Definitely take it with her. It's an easy A.
Great teacher! She keeps me awake in class with her interesting lectures. She tells you what will be on the test almost word for word and is always up for helping you! I don't recommend this but, I have skipped at least half of the classes and am still passing with an A!
amazing, thoughtful, very helpful, best teacher ive ever had at missouri state.
Awesome teacher. The best I've had. Makes lectures interesting and clear to understand. Answers questions clearly. Is willing to go the extra mile to help you learn the material and pass the class.
Sarah McNew is without a doubt the best choice for a PSY 121 professor. She provides multiple extra credit opportunities in class, so GO TO CLASS. Her test reviews basically tell you exactly what you need to study, and if you do that, you will ace the tests. Also do the units of credit, and getting an A is easy!!
She is an amazing Professor. Her notes are very clear and her tests are easy if you simply study the study guide.
Mcnew is a great teacher. Dont have to go to class, but get A LOT of extra credit if you attend. Study the notes and study guide, and you will get the desired A
Best psych teacher at MO State. Gives you every question on the test for a study guide the class before the test. Will do better if you show up and do study guides. Gives extra credit on random days for showing up bc so many people skip and helps out people who actually show up. If you have an "A" going into the final, you do not have to take it.
Way easy, if you want you only have to go to class the day before the test.
McNew is a great teacher to take. I didn't have a book for this class and I still got an A. The tests are easy if you study. She'll give you atleast 2 answers to questions on the test before the test even begins and she gives a lot of extra credit.
Dr. McNew was an amazing teacher. Her class was super easy because she only graded based on tests, but at the same time, she made class really interesting during her lectures. She made class funny, kept everyones attention, and was never boring. She even would let us out VERY early often. I would definitely take her class again
Take her! She explains everything thoroughly and usually has an example to go along with it. She makes class a lot of fun too. The final is comprehensive, but if you have A before Test 6, you can be exempt from it. Class isn't really necessary and neither is the book.
She is the best! Seriously! Like you learn a lot from her, but at the same time it's so easy. Great experience.
Cool, Young, Hot
Most amazing teacher ever. Very clear on topics and gives review session in class prior to every exam. Easy class while learning a lot in the process. Will go out of her way to help you if you have questions.
I took this class last year and it was a breeze! Near the end I was rarely attending class except for review days before the test. Her study guides follow the test very well. I had an A the entire semester and didn't have to take the final. HIGHLY recommended!
Probably the BEST teacher I've ever had!!! She's really funny and laid back. She likes to have fun in class and cancels class a LOT!! Her reviews before the test are extemely helpful. I never read the book and got an A easy. If you have an A you don't have to take the final!!! She usually tells answers as shes handing out tests!! take her!!!!!
Great, Great, Great. Never used the textbook, came to class almost every day, listened to lectures and received an "A+" in the class. Didn't have to take a comprehensive final, which was awesome! Just love her! Wish she taught more PSY classes!
This chick is AWESOME! Took her for intro to psych. She is clear, and easy to understand. Never had to study in the book, just showed up to class and aced the tested. She has an indepth review before each test and will have extra credit assignments occassionally if you actually show up. Attendance is not manadotory, and... well just take her!
good teacher!
I love Dr. McNew. She actually practices outside of teaching, so she knows what she's talking about and sometimes inserts her own experiences into the discussion. Attendance isn't mandatory, but if you're going to skip class you miss out on extra credit opportunities. I'd highly recommend her.
This class is a hard one but if you take Mcnew she is probably one of the best psy teachers. she is very nice and tells exactly whats on the tests. study those, come to class, you should be fine.
McNew knows her stuff and even though the class is easy, you will learn a lot. You will get an A if you do two things. One, go to class. She gives extra credit like no other. Two, bring your laptop and write down EVERYTHING she says the class before the test. Do not buy the book, I haven't opened it once this year and I still have a high A.
She is a great teacher, she knows her stuff extremely well, if you are the type of person who learns by example she has many. Class is super super easy, never gotten below an A on the test. She gives you a study guide of exactly what will be on the test the class before. TAKE HER YOU WILL PASS! That is if you go to the class before to get guide.
She's the best.
Really nice teacher, but not really into her work. She is fun, the class is easy, but Dr. McNew is highly unprepared, and if you do the units of credit, or any extra credit, you will not be recognized or acknowledged.
She is super easy I never studied once, just went to class. She offers a lot of extra credit, but you have to be in class to get it. Also if you have an A in the class she doesn't make you take the final. I never emailed her with questions or anything but she usually answered questions and stuff for people at the beginning if class.
Very easy, though I showed up to most classes, I know a lot of people in the class who didn't and managed just fine. Posts powerpoints of her lectures online, so even if you missed a day, the info would be available.
Dr. McNew is great at using examples to explain her point. Although you could probably pass the class just by reading the book, it pays to be in class and have a more personal understanding of the Psych field. She's great, and I highly recommend her. As far as extra credit, it's plentiful.
Class is super easy.
She is a fabulous teacher. She ues great examples to make it easy to understand, and you dont even have to use the book to know the information becuase she uses details in her powerpoints but does not require you to know all of it. No mandatory to atend class but gives many extra credit points on random days. definately recomend her!!
SUCH an easy class, McNew is very nice, gives tons of opportunities for extra credit, and the tests are not hard. Review the powerpoints online before the test, and you should be fine!
Dr. McNew is awesome. You get extra credit on random days if you are present in class. She is also very understanding of extenuating circumstances. I was on the way to one of her exams and my car broke down, but she let me take a make-up exam so that I could still get an A in the class. If you can take Dr. McNew, in addition to what I have already
She is really nice, and gives good examples which makes the material easier to remember. Easy A, and you don't have to take the final if you have an A in the class. I highly recommend her!
LOVED her!! She gave great examples and gave test answers as she was passing out the tests. Gives tons of extra credit and don't have to take the final if you have an A. I made an A on every test and never even picked up the book. Just look over the power points and the review she gives and you should have no problem in this class.
Dr.McNew is one of the best speakers i have ever heard. She is a fountin of facts. DO NOT BUYTHE BOOK it was a total wast of money. I never read any and i still got an 268/250 points for the class.
She has been my favorite teacher yet. She has great stories fun lectures. her test are pretty easy. Im having no problem getting an A. Just show up and listen and youll do great
shes a nice teacher, lots of chances to get easy extra credit so show to class. If you just study the review she gives you, you will do fine
Dr McNew is awesome. Very clear in what she lectures and gives great examples. Lots of extra credit if you go to lecture. If you make an A you don't have to take the final. Study your powerpoints she goes over and she will also tell you the day before test what she is looking for on the test. Just show up and pay attention. Great Professor!!!
Definitely try to take psychology with Dr. McNew. She is WONDERFUL. Your grade is based on 5 tests, and you don't take the final if you have an A. Lots of extra credit. Go to class for the review days and study the power points and you'll have an easy A. Don't buy the book.
Dr. McNew is AWESOME! She is very easy to understand, gives TONS of extra credit opportunities, very helpful, and she always has great stories about past patients to help you grasp psychology in the real world.
Best teacher I have ever had. She expects you to read the book, but she doesn't test over anything she doesn't lecture over. She doesn't take attendance most days, but will give extra credit if you show up every once and awhile. She posts her Powerpoint online so even if you don't go to class, you can still study for the tests. Highly recommend!
AMAZING teacher!!! Definitely one of the best teachers I've ever had. She was an awesome person as well. I would for sure recommend her to anybody & I would take another class from her if possible! Her reviews are awesome and I feel like I learned a lot.
Dr. McNew was a great professor and I highly recommend her. Her class was a breeze but I still learned a lot at the same time. I never once opened my textbook and still got an A in the class. She hands out extra credit for going to class all the time and if you have an A at the end of the semester you don't even have to take the final.
Great teacher! You really don't even have to go to class that much to get a good grade. Also, if you have an A you don't even have to take the final. She posts all her notes to blackboard and has review days for the tests. I honestly did not use the book one time through the semester.
She has 5 tests and a final, but if you have an A you can be exempt from the final. She offers tons of extra credit and the tests are all common sense questions. She is really nice and understanding! TAKE HER!!!
BEST PROFESSOR EVER!!! Extremely helpful and makes class very interesting! Very, very nice. Easy A!
Very nice teacher! The class itself is intense, but thats how they all are. She takes time to really get students involved with discussion.
Extremely nice teacher! Very helpful and accommodating for her students. Psy121 is a tough class, but it is manageable. Dr. McNew is very good at explaining the material and is very helpful! Super nice lady.
My class met once a week and were expected to read the entire textbook. Grueling online chapter quizzes were required every week at noon the day before class. If you read the chapter and do an outline, expect 4 hours of homework per week. Keep that in mind for scheduling. She is a great teacher, if only we met more than once a week...
Sarah is a practicing counselor, so you would think she wouldn't say things in lecture that contradict the book, but she does sometimes. That being said, there are so many points in the class for only meeting once a week, it's extremely easy to get an A. Do the online work, extra credit, etc. on time. The tests aren't that hard at all. Easy A.
I took the night class with Dr. McNew. PSY 121 at Missouri State is set up in a way that it is almost impossible to fail. Keep up with the online assignments and make an effort to at least skim through the book, and you'll be fine.
Dr. McNew is such a great professor! She genuinely cares about her students and wants them to be successful in her class. It is nearly impossible not to do well. I would highly recommend her for PSY 121.
Highly recommend taking a class with Dr. McNew! She knows what she is talking about and makes the class very interesting! Cancels class 3 or 4 times which is great. I would definitely take another class with her!
The perfect professor for PSY 121. She has to be the nicest person on the planet. There was a lot of work. Although, if you take the time to diligently complete it will really help you in the long run!!!!
Easy A and fun lectures. Make sure you complete every and all assignments, and you'll have a GPA boost. I took a MWF class and we never meet on Wed.!
McNew presented the material in a clear, easy to understand way. She provided numerous real life scenarios to make psychology interesting.
Could she be any more clear during lectures? Probably not. She's a great teacher who can really describe concepts in ways to help you remember them. I'd recommend taking her if you need this class.
Make sure you do all the extra credit that's offered. Sign up early for required psych study sessions and experiments that are done by psych students. McNew does everything to help you be successful as long as you actually do it.
She is very gracious & helpful. She only had us meet once a week except on special occasions. She knows her subject & has personal clinical experience. She sends out reminders for almost every assignment. You would have to actively and intentionally not do anything in order to fail. Highly recommend her, especially if it's your first psych class.
She was a great teacher! I don't know how her other classes are, but my PSY121 was a blended course, which is great if you're not the best test taker because it really pads your grade. Attend your study sessions, and just go class, because she normally lets you out early.
I was scheduled to have class on Mondays and Wednesdays but most of the time we had Wednesdays off. Her lectures are very straightforward and she knows what she is talking about. Make sure to sign up for study sessions and research participation early. Overall, fairly easy grade. Lots of cushion if you aren't a good test taker.
She followed the syllabus very closely. I always new exactly what I needed to get done and when. She was very clear about what we needed to do, and tried to remind us often. Her lectures were crystal-clear in the information she was trying to give to us.
The class is actually really easy if you only attend class, but you should read if you expect to do well on the tests. It's evident that Dr. McNew cares about the material, and she makes it interesting. Her lectures are to the point, though she throws in some extra information that is helpful. If you like the material, you will enjoy the class.
A MyPsychLab assignment for each chapter of the book, 4 unit exams and a comprehensive final. She did a really good job of explaining each disorder. I really liked that she also showed video clips because it really helped me understand the disorders. Very knowledgeable, very kind. Pretty laid back, but don't be lazy or you'll get behind.
Professor McNew you can tell truely cares about her students and will do what she can to help them. All the material that will be on the exams are covered in the notes for class. The textbook is great to use to study. She has assignments due online every week but they are very easy to get a good grade on them.
This class is great and she truly just wants you to pass. There are lots of extra credit opportunities. Do the online homework and go to study sessions and you should have no problem passing the class.
Her tests are pretty hard, but she gave a huge extra credit assignment towards the end of the semester that made a huge difference. You definitely have to study to maintain a good grade and there's quite a bit of online homework. She gave a few pop quizzes over the semester, but they were often for attendance. Read the book chapters to study!
Super nice teacher, its hard to teach 300 people in a lecture hall, but she managed it pretty well! Offers lots of extra credit she wants the students to pass.
I loved Dr. McNew's class and I would definitely take it again. For this class, you are supposed to read a chapter of the textbook then take a quiz on MyPsychLab over it. The next time you go to class she will give a lecture over that chapter. Her lectures make the concepts easier for you to understand and apply to your life.
She is a nice professor. The mandatory study sessions are annoying but she genuinely cares about the students passing and there is enough buffer that you can easily get an A even if you get B's on the exams.
Dr. McNew was an awesome professor who really seemed to care about how her students are doing. She gives plenty of extra credit and tells you what's important to learn from the reading. She really made the class interesting, and I'd gladly take another class from her.
Absolutely no complaints about this professor. She's so passionate and knowledgeable about psychology and an AMAZING teacher. She presents the information so clearly and concisely, and her classes were always entertaining. I went in a CSD major and came out a psychology major. Requires a lot of work/reading outside of class, but it's very doable.
It's already an interesting class thanks to the content but she also brings in her own clinical experience to give examples of disorders which really helps to personalize the lectures and make them more memorable. We didn't have to use my psych lab but we did use clickers in class. The clicker questions were usually pretty easy and helped pad grade
This class in general is a lot of work. However, McNew is great! She makes lectures interesting and often brings in candy. She makes concepts easy to remember by giving good examples! It is a big lecture room, so there is not a lot of one on one interaction, but she is very willing to help! Loved her!! If you can, take her!
Dr. McNew is a FABULOUS instructor! She presents the information clearly and always clarifies when there is confusion about something. She also works in the clinical psychology field, so she's able to relate her lectures to the real world, making PSY 304 and even more interesting course! It's great to see what we're learning being put in to action!
At first she seemed really intimidating but now that I know her shes probably my best professor this semester and thats saying something since shes in a huge lecture hall.
Dr. Mcnew is the BEST. she gives out so much easy work it's probably impossible not to get an A unless you truly don't do anything. She cares about you and your success and helps you achieve that. tests are fairly hard but she gives a lot of help and study materials which makes them pretty easy.
She's a fantastic instructor. Knowledgeable and very organized. You will always know what is expected of you. The book is super helpful because her lectures don't cover all the material. Weekly (easy) online quizzes over chapters. 4 exams that are definitely doable with a little bit of studying.
definitely reccomend McNew!! Such a great prof, easy tests and lots of extra credit! Attendance is taken every day
This class was simple as far as the weekly quizzes & LOTS of extra credit. But the tests were extremely rough and had the littlest thing from each chapter on them. in order to succeed, you need to go beyond what she summarizes in class. i recommend getting the textbook & actually reading each term. such a nice and sweet teacher tho
Gives you study guides for all tests, easy in class participation points, and lots of extra credit. She was super nice and answers emails almost immediately. Genuinely cares about our grade and is willing to help. Highly recommend her!
Wonderful woman, knows what shes talking about. Willing to help you, super sweet! I highly recommend taking this class with her. Very easy class and shes very understanding.
Great professor
Dr. McNew is a sweetheart. She always shows videos or has class activities to give examples. Notes during class go a little too quickly so make sure you use a laptop to type if you are a slow writer. A lot of room for extra credit.
She is very comfortable with the subject matter and just leaves the class with an eased feeling because of that. Do all the homework online for review and tests should be easy. She only actually has class about once a week unless there are extraneous circumstances, but you definitely need to be in attendance for that one class a week.
Dr. McNew is a great professor!! She makes the information in her lectures clear and specific, and really focuses in on what you actually need to know for the test. Buying the hard copy of the book is unnecessary, I haven't opened it once and I have a high A. The homework in this class is very minimal and the only difficult part was the tests.
Dr. McNew was a fantastic professor for taking Intro to Psychology! I was never a fan of the topic, but she did a great job with examples and explaining the chapters. The workload outside of class was a little heavy, so definitely ensure you spread it out over the week. Overall, I would highly recommend taking Dr. McNew for this class.
She is the sweetest teacher ever. As long as you read the book and spend time studying, the class is easy. The test are exactly the information in the book, she doesnt try to trick you. Shes overall a great professor and gives a lot of extra credit
An amazing teacher, and her lectures are made interesting - so you will not be bored. Clicker points are counted as extra credit. On the first test, I got a high C and then a low B on the next one - I currently have a 99% in the class.
My favorite teacher!! She makes her lectures so interesting my throwing in real life examples of patients with the disorders you are learning about. Attendance in for bonus points for that makes it to where anyone can get the grade they want if they work for it. Also very quick to answer any questions you have via email.
Show up to class and answer the clicker questions for extra credit. So much extra credit and homework points that it would be hard to fail. I got a 102% and put minimal effort in. Very interesting and fun class! Dr. McNew is such a kind professor!
Absolutely love her! She's super understanding that life happens. Very good lectures and gives lots of real life examples of disorders! Exams are multiple choice, so not terrible.
Best Psych professor. I have 104% because of extra credit. Show up, listen, answer clicker questions and you are set. She gives tons of examples/stories of her patients that are relevant to the disorder. Great class.
With a huge class size she was a great professor. She explained everything well and with stuff you can relate to. She has exercises during class that are fun and interesting that apply to the lecture. She is good with rounding your grade if needed. She is also very detailed on what she expects making it easy. Online quizzes, 4 exams and a final!
Her class is set up so well, it is a handbook on success. If you follow instruction and put in some effort, you will always be in a good place with her and this course. It is outlined in a was that nothing ever catches you off guard. Making it possible to thrive in this class and get the GPA you are after.
Talks way too much, doesnt know when or how to end a conversation.
I feel like this class would have been better if it weren't online. There was a TON of reading and textbook assignments. Plus, you had to do a bunch of participating in "research." The tests are fairly easy and are open note. You also HAVE to attend study sessions with a small group before each test which was the worst on Microsoft Teams.
The class was very clear-cut textbook readings and lectures with quizzes after each chapter that counted for the majority of your grade in the class. The teacher was very knowledgeable but the class lacked any kind of memorable qualities. Solid all around, effective.
Very understanding and will work with you if you put in the effort.
Amazing professor, funny, easy to work with. brings snacks to class sometimes
The course is all online work, with supplemental lectures each week that go over the material. Tests and quizzes are all online and are NOT lockdown browser required, luckily.
Genuinely the easiest class I took my first semester. Everything was on quizlet. There was no need to attend class considering it was just her reviewing the reading that you had due that week. I had class on schedule TTH, and she only ever held lecture on Tuesday. Would take that class 100 times again for the ease of it.
The chapters are done online and then go into class for lecture. Classes are scheduled twice a week but you only go in class for one of the days which is so nice. A lot of extra credit opportunities and study sessions. She evens out the chapters throughout the test. She does three chapters per test so three-four weeks in between tests.
Dr. McNew is a good professor, but the lectures were booooring. I almost fell asleep most days. However, the class was easy and so were exams if you study a bit. The textbook was online, so you don't have to pay hundreds of dollars for books. There is also lots of extra credit opportunities so highly recommend.
We had class every Tuesday. Your Thursday days were meant to be spent reading the assigned reading (which is for points through Revel). She was accessible, but spoke as if we were professionals at the topic already. Her lectures just covered what we read the week before. You have 4 or 5 tests as a grade and that's mostly it. Make sure to study!
Only lectures on Tuesdays, a lot of homework each week but you get used to it quickly. 4 quizzes (lower drops and higher duplicated) every 3 chapters, you have to read to get good grades
Class is only held on Tuesdays and you're supposed to spend your Thursdays doing the Revel assignments. I loved the class besides Revel. Her lectures are great and she makes sure the class is filled with points. There are points for attending class and extra credit. There are 4 tests where your lowest grade is dropped and the highest is doubled.
Dr. McNew was a lot of fun to learn from in class. She makes lectures enjoyable, and you know that she has a lot of experience. The best thing about taking a class from Dr. McNew is that she will do whatever it takes to help a student understand the concept even if it means taking an alternate teaching approach.
Two days before an exam, I go to register for a study session and there are none available, I email her assuming that this was an error. She explains that all study sessions are full and it won't be possible to enter a study session. It won't be possible for me to complete a *required* assignment two days before it is due. That's the class.
this class is half online, and the answers are on Quizlet for her homework assignments, but reading it anyway will help, but if you attend class and take notes, you can learn pretty easily. Her lectures are very good and interesting. everything is due Mondays at noon, so make sure to do it early
Dr. McNew was the best! Only held class on tuesdays and made her lectures as entertaining as possible. There were weekly assignments but nothing too crazy. Only complaint is the tests are not super easy, just study. I enjoyed her class and would love to take another one of her courses.
Dr. McNew is so approachable!!!! She's very kind and definitely knows her stuff. Love her class.
So fun and interactive, even with such a large class. Lots of self work tho. Be prepared to take time outside of class for research sessions.
She was a good professor and made the class interactive. Read the book or you will not pass the class and you have to study at least a week in advance for the test. There is a bit of outside work for the class but if you stay on top of it and just get it done it is very manageable.
Sarah McNew more like Sarah McSlay. McNew gave a lot of points to earn, so if you missed one or two assignments it didn't effect your grade hardly at all. I would recommend studying for the tests 4 days in advance to really understand the material, not just memorize it. Homework was fairly easy. Overall would take it again.
This class was okay. You need to come to class in order to get attendance points. As far as work, the class is pretty straightforward. You read and complete quizzes every week.
Dr. McNew knows her stuff and only had lectures on Tuesdays (Thursdays were for reading the textbook and taking the quizzes). There were a lot of ways to get points aside from exams (quizzes, extra cred, participation) and the exams were fine if you studied. Her class is very organized, so you always know what you need to get done.
I loved this class with Dr. McNew! The way that she lectures is very engaging. Although the class size is almost 300, she really makes it seem smaller by having peer leaders for smaller sections within the class. I always look at her posted PowerPoint before class and take notes on those so that during class I add the notes that she talks about.
Prof. McNew's PSY121 class is engaging and manageable. The workload is reasonable, with online assignments and in-class lectures only twice a week. Unstuck AI and the textbook are helpful for studying and staying on top of the material. Overall, a rewarding class to take.
She does an amazing job of explaining the material, is funny, and easy to understand. The online portion where you go over the textbook is easy to go through and she didn't even make class in person both days. So many grades, easy to get back if you do bad on a test. Get your study sessions done early so you don't have to worry about them later!
This Professor was so informational and very experienced. She is very caring and flexible with students and really does want you to pass the class. I would 100% recommend taking this class with her if you're interested in physiology or just need to get the credit out of the way.
Loved her and her lectures were very helpful. She is approachable and cares about her students. If you stay on top of your work, you'll be fine. She also has plenty of extra credit opportunities that are relatively easy.
You are in good hands with Ms. McNew. Her class is so well-organized, and there are always ULA's willing to help. It can be overwhelming at times, but as long as you stay on top of your work, you will do fine. I recommend Quizlet to study for tests. This was one of my favorite classes this semester. 10/10
Dr McNew's class is very interesting, she try's to make sure she stays after class to talk to students so don't worry about class size, there are also always ULAs/GAs in class. There is a lot of reading but if you time manage well you'll be okay. Overall very good class.
I love psychology, and I appreciated the structure of Mrs Mcnew's cirruculum. She thoughtfully chose at which chronological interval to reveal certain chapters to the class, and I feel as if the order in which we learned the subjects was optimal. This class was easy for me, but thats because I fully read all chapters. I also have an IQ of 151.
McNew is a great professor. You don't really get the chance to talk to her directly as this is a huge lecture, but she is super organized and frequently sends out update emails for readings/assignments. YOU NEED TO READ THE CHAPTERS TO DO WELL, but if you read them, take notes, and actually try on the in-text practice, you will get a good grade.
Dr. McNew is FANTASTIC! It is a large lecture hall class, so there are ULA's to help. Grading requirements are clearly defined with a weekly textbook assignment, and 1-2 in person lectures per week. Exams will take a decent amount of studying, but are "easy" to prepare for and are easy to pass with proper preparation. LOTS of extra credit opps.
This class was very easy, as long as you put in minimal effort by doing the online work and then pay attention to the study sessions the content is very learnable. The lectures can be boring at times but overall, I really enjoyed Dr. McNew.
