Expected this class to be difficult but it ended up being fairly easy. At first, it seems like a ton of work because there are assignments due frequently but I realized it wasn't so bad. The lab really sucks, but its not her fault. She tells you everything you need ahead of time for the tests, but you definitely need to study. Super nice. take her!

This was a great class. I learned some really good information that will not only be useful to me in my career, but in my life as well. There is a lot of note taking between chapter notes and video notes. The exams are kind of tough too, but you should do well if you do the chapter notes.

By far one of the best teachers I've had. She is easily accessible outside of class and wants to see you succeed. The tests are hard, but she makes sure you have everything you need and will curve some points. If you have lab, make sure you go because that can easily make or break your grade. She is fair and an incredible teacher.

The professor is one of the best. There are notes and video summaries you have to submit for each chapter assigned. They are pretty straightforward and require a lot of reading. She gives a general exam study guide, but make sure you study everything on it in detail. If you do all the work and study for the exams the class should be a breeze.

Spring Online class: Lots of text book reading, notes on the reading that must be submitted wkly to professor, summary videos wkly, several group discussions, 3 exams that are fairly difficult but if you study should pass; 3 GELO assignments that are fairly easy. Be prepared to spend min 3-4 hrs a wk on assignments. Prof. is avail for questions.

I really enjoyed Mrs. Mixon's class a lot! She is very helpful and cares about her students a lot! Lab was great but the exams are very tough. I am not a multiple choice test taker, it is difficult for me. Just really study for the tests and turn in your homework due every week and you will be fine.

Professor Mixon was great and I really enjoyed her online class. Very straightforward and mapped out well (no surprise quizzes and whatnot). The study guides for exams are clear and helpful. The grading rubric on some assignments can tend to be unclear. However, she is fast with responding to any of your questions. I'd definitely take her again.

No need to hesitate weather or not you should enroll in General Biology with Professor Mixon. 1-2 chapter outlines due every Sunday. 3-4 video summaries per week as well, but usually are covered in class unless otherwise noted. 4 exams. Course requires work but is fairly forgiving and resources are available. Network and be punctual.

Mixon is a very good professor, she communicates well and makes sure that everyone knows what is due and what is going on. She will work with you and is very understanding if you need to turn in something late or if you miss class. She is funny and caring and all around a great professor.

She is one of the most caring professors I've had at Santa Fe. You have a question, she will do her very best to help you. If you have questions about the tests she will be more than happy to sit down with you and figure out what you're doing wrong. I would definitely take this class again! ohh and she is always happy which makes the class more fun

There is a lot of reading about stuff that won't be on the test. She will go over what is needed and what is not needed in each chapter, but she does that after you've read the whole chapter. It is definitely necessary to read and take notes on what you read because that is a huge part of your grade. The labs are easy. This class is time consuming.

Ms. Mixon was the best science teacher I've had in a while. The class wasn't even that difficult. Key to passing: Actually doing the reading notes thoroughly , Turning in assignment on time, and GO TO LAB.

She's very nice. Every week there was 2 chapter outlines and summaries of youtube videos due. Only complaint is that she is not specific enough for what to study for the exams and there is really no specific study method, she tells you to read the chapters and watch the videos provided, which is LOT of material for each exam. Professor Mixon is very helpful and understanding. The class isn't extremely hard but there are assignments due every week and very large tests. The tests are difficult because they consist of at least 6 chapters each time. That's a lot of material to be tested on all at once. I typically do well on tests, but I struggled with these.

The teacher herself is very nice & responds quickly. But you will basically teach biology to yourself. You will read & write every chapter in the book. The in class lectures are just to tell you what's coming that week. Everything else is on your own. I loved the teacher... But the test is very hard. There is no study guide!

Professor Sarah Mixon is by far the most caring and easy to work with Professor I have yet to encounter. She truly cares about her students and their academic success. Throughout the semester their was many times when she went above and beyond what was needed. Would recommend her to anyone.

I think the tests are difficult. I'm use to taking a quiz after every chapter than a exam on 3 or 4 chapters. But you have a exam on like 5-6 chapters. My brain can't carry all of that weight.

Course was taken in a 6 week term, if you are able to take this course in a full term, take it then. There is a lot of reading, reading notes, and summaries required. Do the work, you will be fine. Professor always provided encouragement and support. Professor Mixon is very well verse in her subject matter and this class opened my eyes to biology.

I took this class over summer A, and It was pretty much what I expected; pretty intense pace but as long as you do the work you will finish with a good grade. The home works are not hard just time consuming, but it really helps especially for the test. The videos are also very helpful. I would take her again.

This was a fairly typical online class. The expectations are clearly laid out and grading rubrics are provided for each assignment. Weekly assignments were chapter notes and video notes (she assigns videos relevant to material covered) If you take good notes from the textbook and follow the study guide, the tests are not that difficult.

You get what you put out. If you do the assignments and study for the Exams you will be fine. If not you will fail. Its pretty much cut and dry, I will definatley use the YouTube videos search when I dont understand a subject. Those were very informative.

Prof Mixon cares about her students. Her class is set up that weekly you have book notes to turn in, and corresponding videos. The videos can be a bit time consuming for a full-time student. I spent about 4-5 hours a week on this class just taking notes. Tests are tough, even when you take more than adequate notes and study for days.

The professor is caring, but the course is unforgiving. The book assigned to the course is difficult for note taking. If you don't understand something, make sure you research it more via outside sources or you will be lost on the "5" multiple choice question tests. Never got above a "C" on a test. Tough class to make an A in, even when you try.

Prof Mixon's Ecology class is a very interesting class and I feel like i actually learned something. She's very thorough with her grading and responds quickly to messages. I think aot of people take this class because they think its really easy, however it actually isn't, you must do the work and be thorough and follow her criteria to get the grade

This course was interesting. I liked that there were no quizzes for chapters... just reading and vid. notes due each wk. I didn't like sending in video notes since I had to keep pausing the video to write everything down & I didn't get to just enjoy watching the videos. I would've rather had quizzes for the vids. Study exam guide and exams are ok!

She is a great professor, but get ready for homework! She assigns reading and videos to watch, and you have to write up notes and submit them. She offers a little extra credit. She's great at responding, she puts her cell on the syllabus so you can text her! Overall a great professor, and if you put your time in, you'll get a good grade.

Professor Mixon always responded with prompt and helpful answers when I sent her a question by email. I learned a lot about environmental science in her class. Most of her assignments revolve around reading the text book or watching videos, and then summarizing. More discussion or writing would be nice - more diversity in the types of assignments.

Class was very predictable. You always know what and when assignments are due, the manner it is graded, and the late policy ( which is the best Ive ever seen). I took BSC1001 with Professor Mixon and had a good experience. She is clear with her grading expectations for all assignments. I spent a total of 2-3 hours per week working on assignments, and easiley passed.

I took the online class for Summer B, so my experience may be a little different had I taken over a full semester. With that said... Expectations are clear from the beginning. Easy class if you do your work and turn everything in online. the 3 or 4 exams are the only difficult part, but if you use the study guides you should do fine. only issue I've had is she is strict about deadlines, i understand needing to get grades in on time, and to stay on top of the course, but I've never understood taking points off.

Prof Mixon's class has clear expectations and deadlines perfect for taking an online class. Every weeks work is the same providing room for planning and routine for students. Her deadline for work is on Sunday, which is great. Prof. Mixon also allows one point to be taken off for each day an assignment is late which is very rare among prof.

I took this class online hoping I would not regret it, and it i can say i do not regret it. she's a fair grader, puts in grades right away, the way she outlined the online class was easy, everything was open so you were able to do your work whenever you wanted in advance.

The material was very interesting and I learned a lot throughout the class. Professor Mixon was very diligent about responding to emails as well as grading assignments. I found the test questions to be unclear. Many required knowing the "most correct answer" in a group of correct answers. But other than that I enjoyed the class/teacher.

During the semester I was dealing with an DUI auto accident from being rear ended and totaling my truck. Professor Mixon worked with me with what she was able to, and was always available to contact.

This class is very easy to get a good grade in, and it's easy to work ahead. Just type out the weekly notes and study for the tests. I believe there were only 2 writing assignments which were easy. Sarah is very sweet and responds fairly quickly if you email her with a question.

This class isn't too hard. It was really nice for an online class and I don't have much things to say bad about it. However, the study guides given are not helpful at all. I took Professor Mixon's online Energy Ecology class this summer, and the material was, though overwhelming at times, interesting. The papers we were required to write were thought provoking and fun. My main issue with this course is the amount of material required to learn divided among 3 exams. I would have preferred 4 exams with less material.

The class topics are not hard, but I tended to struggle with the exams. I know I am not good with biology which is why I took this course hoping it would have more physical science in it. Professor is nice and helpful, but her study guides are not. I was really hoping for practice exams, but never got one. Assignments were easy, but not tested on.

Very nice professor but kinda a challenging class. Only a few test with only about 75 questions over several chapters. The study guide she gives out seemed useless to my, I would study everything on the guide but still do really bad on the test. But if you ask her for help she's more than willing.

Overall the class isn't difficult. Mrs. Mixon makes the class fairly simple and everything besides the exams are easy points to earn, the homework and GELO assignments can all be completed in around an hour or less and you won't get more than 3 assignments per week. The exams require some studying but she posts a study guide that helps a lot.

Took her online BSC2050 class over the summer. Assignments are weekly but more than reasonable and you'll do fine on the tests so long as you do the required readings. Only complaint is that the instructions for the end of semester writing assignment were somewhat vague and that some documents were a bit hard to find on the class' canvas page.

Take this class! Every week you pretty much have the same assignments; a homework and to type reading notes for a chapter (sometimes two chapters). Typing the notes every week was time consuming but it's really what helps you learn the material for the tests. She gives you a study guide before each exam which is super helpful!

Great teacher overall. The study guides are somewhat vague, they could be a little more in depth. READ the textbook and FIGURES. Fairly easy grader. Homework is easy, don't try and do every single vocab word in the chapter or every main point for it. Do what you don't know and you'll still get the A. Tests aren't terrible, 75 questions, but STUDY.

Really sweet and always willing to help! Weekly homework assignments that really add up and help you if you do them all. Exams are pretty big so study hard for them. She gives out a study guide a week before which I have found helps a lot.

In my opinion, the class isnt strenuous but you will need to read to get your desired grade in this course. Homework is a breeze, test are more challenging.

She is super nice! Tests are hard & hw is easy. If you are not good at tests consider taking a teacher who focuses more on alternative assignments. It is not her fault, I am not the best test taker which is why Id consider going back to pick another teacher if I could. Tests are a good portion of your grade, but the homework brings up your grade.

The tests were difficult and not as similar to the lab (homework) questions so it made studying difficult, especially due to the large amount of information tested in each exam. The study guides were good guidelines for what to study for the exams though.

This class takes a lot of focus because it has many assignments due. So, you cant forget about this class but professor Mixon makes this class very fun and exciting to learn about. Take her if you are wanting to learn about this subject.

So I took this class online over the summer, and while it wasn't hard it wasn't a walk in the park either. Basically your only homework is to take notes on the chapters and these short activities afterwards. Other than that the only other assignments are the tests which mean a lot. As long as you actually do the work and study you should be fine.

I was anxious to take this class because I'm no science person. I did online due to my work schedule. I was relieved to know that the course was fun to learn. She was great at responding to my emails. The only thing I had a problem with was there are only three tests which covers a lot of material. She gave us a helpful study guide it was just alot

Relatively easy class. pretty much your whole grade is made up from tests. there are weekly assignments but they do not require much effort.

Very understanding teacher, that is very easy to access if you have questions or concerns. The class itself isn't too difficult, very easy papers, and easily understood homework assignments that are consistent in due dates and objective. The tests are the only things that I struggled with, but I don't feel that is any fault to the teacher or class.

You will be expected to take thorough notes of every chapter in the digital textbooks. The better your notes are, the less work you will have to put in later to make an effective study guide. The tests are challenging and will make sure you understand the concepts and application of the material covered in the textbook.

The exams are quite difficult and require full knowledge of reading material as well as online workbook material. The professor states in the beginning that there are alot of extra credit opportunities but I did not find but the opportunity for 2 points to be added.

This course was taken online. The teacher gave 3 tests which are difficult if you do not read and use her study guide. There was 2 CHs on average to read every week in which you do an activity after each CH (vocab and concept related information)-- the work is not hard but it is all self-taught to a degree; it isn't like math where you must really understand a concept, but you must atleast memorize the information for test

Great class. Lots of reading and chapter notes due every Sunday, mostly two chapters a week. 3 tests that are hard but the overall workload of the class is fair. I took this class online and the homeworks were a breeze, she is not a tough grader. The class is easy and fun. The tests are very difficult and don't really relate to the material, even though I studied for them I ended up guessing on most questions. Professor Mixon is great. The class is fairly difficult. The study guides are vague, so dont rely on them to pass the exams. I took this class online and it has been great. The class is very structured and works great for those who don't have flexible schedules. The only thing I don't like about it is that there are no recorded lectures, you have to teach yourself from the book. Other than that, I would take this class again.

Professor Mixon's class was structured nicely. Each week you read the chapter(s) and submit reading notes. She is an easy grader for the chapter notes, however, if you skim through the chapters you will struggle on the test. Tests covered 6-7 chapters and she does provide a study guide. Not a difficult course, take good notes and you will be okay.

I loved this course and this professor. You are given a study guide before each exam. All assignments have clear instructions, and if followed, expect to get an A.

Good online setup and Sarah is responds quickly via email which is perfect for distance learning. Only issue I have with the course textbook requirements. Its difficult to locate a hard copy and the online copy was a hassle, and expensive, to sign up for. Other than my textbook woes, the course is good and the teacher is good.

There are only tests, a couple short papers, and a homework assignment each week where you take notes on the chapter(s) for that week! Not much extra credit at all, so need to study well for the tests to do well in the class! There are no powerpoints or recorded lectures so it is important to have self disipline to teach yourself.

The class in itself was difficult for me, but Professor Mixon was always available for questions, and she sends out a study guide for each test which is super helpful when it came time to study. She also didn't overload with homework over the holidays which was a welcome contrast to many other professors. If you need help ask. She WILL help you.

My main complaint would be that some of the test questions seemed to be more focused on pedantics than general biology knowledge. Overall I think this is a good class for an intro to biology. The reading note assignments force you to atctually read the textbook. The module assignments were a bit tiresome at times, but also had some gems!

This is the second class that I have taken with Professor Mixon. She is kind, courteous of the holidays, and is always willing to help. I do believe that she could do a better job of explaining why the student did not get an A on an assignment. For instance the notes need more feedback.

As long as you complete the notes and assignments when you're supposed to, you'll be fine. I did fine just looking over my notes and the study guide she gives the night before an exam. Overall, Prof. Mixon is a solid teacher.

I do not normally like online courses due to the fact that you pretty much have to just read the textbook and teach yourself the material covered. Professor Mixon, however, made the class easy to keep up with, and provided great resources to help you get more familiar with the material before the exams, which made it easier to score higher.

I took her online class and it was definitely a positive experience. She opens almost the entire course so you can work ahead at your own pace which was very helpful. I had to submit some heavy notes which is what killed me the most. She is a generous grader in my opinion and was pleased with how she ran the class.

Overall, Professor Mixon was a great teacher. She opens all the homeworks and quizzes so you have no deadlines, besides for notes. She assigns heavy note-taking each week, which was time consuming, but helped in the end with exams. Her homeworks/quizzes aren't hard, but you only get once chance to get something wrong, or you loose credit.

I would take her again, she goes out of her way for you if you need help. Her exams are hard, but she gives you points for note taking. She has 3 project you have to do, but they aren't hard. I took this class online in fall b with Mixon and it's been pretty good. She gives homework that's due at the end of each week along with reading notes. So you have to do your reading. However, the material is interesting and current. You have three tests that aren't bad if you actually read and she offers extra credit as well.

She's a good professor. This was my first "true" online class taken at Santa Fe College and it was fine. The class isn't that difficult as long as you actually take advantage of the textbook. The class is not difficult, but there is a lot of work to do each week. If you have a busy schedule, I would not recommend it. We often read and outlined two chapters a week. The textbook is very well written. The homework is given by Pearson, and it can be tricky. You only get one shot to get full credit on each question sadly.

Sarah is honestly such a good professor, she is understanding of personal issues & very dedicated to her students success inside and outside of class. I took her course online and she has helped me tremendously. Her class is primarily notes/ reading plus the online lab. It is really simple and everything is due on Sundays.

Class is a little too tough for me but the professor was really nice. She really fills in the role of a professor fully, especially under these hard periods.

Professor Mixon is amazing! I really enjoyed this class. You have to write two papers which was actually fun to do. The down side was the exams are extremely difficult and is worth a lot of your grade. The online lab and notes you do is very time consuming and isnt worth much points wise. I just wish the hard work and effort we did was worth more.

This class was not only informative but professor mixon made EVR1001 really easy to understand. She gets rid of "bad questions" on exams and rounds grades up. If i had to take this class again I definitely would.

Overall professor Mixon is a amazing teacher. Every week you have to turn in notes and video summaries that prepare you for you test. The material directs you to have that knowledge to be able to pass your test. Not to hard but you do have to make sure you stay on top of everything.

I took this class during the covid pandemic, so the online format was a nice option. Ms. Mixon responds to emails and will answer any questions you may have. I advise lots of studying for the three exams. They cover a lot of material and should not be taken lightly. Overall a great and informative class.

If you take this class, make sure to take thorough notes and STUDY!! The tests are worth a lot. Other than that, I enjoyed the class and learned a lot!

I liked the class and found it somewhat easy but, the one issue i had was with how she does exams. The only complaint I have is that the study guides we recieve are so broad that its hard to study for the exams because the exams are on at least five chapter.

If you read through the chapters and do all of the assignments then you will have a good chance of passing the class. A lot of the weight of your grade goes towards taking notes and taking tests. This class if very straightforward and there are opportunities to earn extra credit. This class is an easy A if you study before taking the exams.

I took this class online and I think she's a great professor. She is straightforward about her assignments. There are notes and multiple choice questions due every week. There are also a few other assignments every so often that need to be done. If you read the textbook and look over the multiple choice from what you've done weekly, you'll be good.

Her assignments are not hard but they can be a little time-consuming and she will be the first to tell you that her exams are quite difficult, though, if you study, you will most likely pass. If you are late to submitting something, she gives you the chance to at least earn partial credit. Would definitely take Prof. Mixon again!
