Always willing to help with your questions and a very fair grader.
She is a great lady!
Excellent teacher. Really knows her stuff! VERY helpful in and out of class!
Narayan is incredible!
great teacher who loves chemistry and wants you to feel the same. very helpful but not assertive enough to demand that the class be quiet and controlled while she is teaching which can be frustrating. speaks with an accent but you can understand her.
Great teacher.... hard to hear during her class when a certain person who's laugh sounds like Karen from Will and Grace is constantly chattering over whats being taught. Maybe she should close her skull cave cause she's taking the class over anyway.

She is very unorganized. She cannot understand students questions in order to answer them. I feel like I didnt learn anything from any of her classes
great teacher, always helps students so they can succed, well organized, great preparation for labs
Dr. Narayan is AWESOME. I was so scared of this class but she has made me feel comfortable and confident with chemistry. She grades very fair and is MORE than willing to help any student succeed! I will definately take her for CHEM II!
Awful class. There are 5 weeks left this semester and I have yet to learn anything. She doesn't know how to answer questions from students. Always changes her answers day to day. Best way to get A's on the test is to not listen to a word this woman says and hope for the best. Avoid at all cost!
yeah she's a nice lady and knows her stuff but when it comes to teaching it she doesnt know what shes doing. She doesnt answer questions very well and her assignments are pretty hard. Her grading is also very hard... she takes off for every little detail!! Just read the book and doing listento her
Dr. Narayan is probly the best Chem professor at this school. Her class isn't easy, but she is very willing to help and gives a lot of "easy-points" if you show up and do the work (yes its Chem you have to study) you should get an A! I loved having her, even tho I have an 87!
Dr. Narayan is an awesome professor. Many people do not like her because she gives a lot of work, practice work, but as they say practice makes perfect. Her extra assignment really help you understand what your learning. Sweetest lady at VJC!!! She'll tell you she was born a chemist just ask her!!

She's kind of hard to understand but she's very nice and understanding. Very approachable. Material is also sort of difficult.
Very nice lady, she tries to make jokes to lighten the mood of class. But the class material is very hard and she doesn't make it any easier. She changes her mind about some topics so you end up confused as hell. Also she teaches from powerpoint and doe
Unfair grading sometimes, not very clear. Definitley a language barrier. She definitley cops an attitude sometimes. Ok experience, take someone else if you can.

She is an incredibly intellegent woman who knows her stuff. She is hard to understand but if you ask her to repeat herself and explain she is glad to do so, she wants you to learn, and she is always willing to help. This is the 2nd class I had with her and I would take her for every chem if I could
Dr. Narayan is an excellent teacher. Chemistry is hard but she tries to lighten the mood with jokes in class. She gives breaks because there is so much information. She is always willing to give you extra help and repeat things a hundred times if needed.
Narayan is a good teacher...hard to understand sometimes but she is willing to help as long as you genuinly try to do your best. Helpful with labs and will answer any questions you have. Tests are hard and she gives alot of work but if you ask, she is willing to help...I would recommend her.
gives several assignments to raise your grade..okay teacher...you have to really study for the test if u want to do well...very nice woman
Don't even get me started...Do yourself a favor and just drop of out school if you have to take this woman
My roomate and I by the grace of GOD had an awesome tutor which was the only way for us to get a passing grade. Her accent along with a confusing subject matter made this a very difficult class. I dreaded this class
Extremely hard to understand and doesn't really help with your understanding of the materials.
She is a terrible teacher. I did not learn one thing from her. I took Chem I with Dr. Dean and got an A. but I am on the line of getitng a C in her class. She's hard to understand and always calls on people when theyre not paying attention. Really embarrassing. TERRIBLE TEACHER.
She isnt given enough credit for everything she does. She's hard but she cares a lot about her students and encourages them to seek help from her. WHen you go for extra help it is very useful, and she will help you out if you have a low grade. Really caring and nurturing
This Prof. will make you think! She is hard to understand sometimes and doesnt give enough practice in class for anyone to learn anything. There are really hard exams and not so much homework or extra assignments to bring up a low grade.Good Luck!
terrible
very kind lady. always ready to help out or thoroughly go over the material if someone doesnt understand
This woman made me crazy with how unorganized she is. Her test are lengthy and hard. There isn't much work to bring up a grade. the flip side-She is very nice, and very intelligent. She will help you and strongly recommends it b/c her material is tough! Pay attention to her; she will teachc stuff that isnt in the book and test you on it. Do obj's!
she's really nice, but her teaching style is hard to understand. she's indian and can speak english, but still she is difficult to understand when she explains. and since the concepts are difficult generally, shes not that helpful.
I had her years ago for organic chemistry. She actually didn't know the material. She contradicted the text book and was flat out wrong on some basic concepts. I argued with her and she wouldn't listen, so I met with another member of the chemistry department who informed me that I was correct and Dr. Narayan was dead wrong. Premeds, stay away!
The worst professor I have ever had. Any attempt to correct one of the innumerable wrong things that she says will be regarded as a slight, some sort of shot at her ethnicity. Her accent has NOTHING to do with it. She does not listen or pay attention to students' questions and doesn't communicate info or instructions clearly. Avoid at all costs.
Dr. Narayan is a sweetheart; she will do all that she can to help if there are any questions. Although she is difficult to understand at times, she is more than willing to go over material again. She has got to be one of the smartest people I know by far!!!
I loved Mrs. Narayan. She was hard to understand at first, but you'll get used to it. She goes over material until you get it... and that can be over 5 times. She is very very easy to contact by email. She loves her students and sincerely wants you to do well. Very smart and she is just adorable!!
I went to her for a little bit when I needed help and it didn't get me very far. So yup, I am re-taking chemistry. Don't take her unless you love Chemistry.
Horrible!
Horrible teacher! If you love chemistry and it comes easy to you, you'll love her if not you'll hate her. She speaks to you ask if you have a PHD in the class and understands chemistry as much as she does. Do not take unless you got a A in highschool chemistry!
I LOVE DR. NARAYAN! She is so helpful and so CUTE! I love her accent and when she laughs at her own jokes, adorable right?!?! TAKE HER CLASS!
The first thing you will notice is her accent, don't worry, you'll get used to it. As far as her teaching goes, she goes way too fast, and explains things terribly. (Thank god for my tutor!) However, she is very nice, and sweet. She also gives everyone plenty of practice questions that happen to be nearly the same as the test!
Difficult to understand at times.
chemistry is obviously hard. she's a good teacher. the practice problems are what's on the exams. it's very hard to get ahold of her through email. she's always willing to help & answer questions. class is hard but if you do all the work and study you'll get a good grade
This was my favorite professor of the semester. She has an accent, but it isn't too strong, plus you'll get used to it. She is very helpful and as long as you care about your grade, she will help you out. She is one of the only professors that cares about her students.
She is a great professor! She has an accent but she is very nice and very understanding. Just ask her and she will help you if you do not understand. Likes to joke around too. Overall great professor
She has an accent but give it a week and you will understand her. She likes to joke and she really knows what shes teaching. She knows us all by name and is very helpful if you ever need anything! Id recommend getting a tutor for the extra re iteration. The practice quizzes are exactly what is Om the test. Do everything she asks and youll be golden
Dr. Narayan is awesome! She will stay after you and help you until you understand. She counts attendance but if you have her just go. She is really nice and her test aren't that bad. She gives you plenty of practice questions to prepare for each exam.
She may be hard to understand sometimes but if you ask her to repeat it she will, other than that she is probably the best teacher ive had, extremely funny, if you have the chance to take her definitely do it!
Dr N is amazing! She is super nice and always willing to help as long as u stop by her office hours or make an appointment. She gives alot of homework problems to help you study and gives chapter reviews that closely mimic the tests! I would deffinately recommend her! Attendance is not mandatory but she does keep track for extra credit at the end.
Wonderful teacher and person. Studying is a must to pass this class. She is ALWAYS in a great mood. Really wants everyone to pass, will not purposely fail anyone!
She's a great person and will do everything she can to help her students. Not always the best at explaining things, I had a tutor which helped a lot. She gives plenty of resources (sapling, review questions) to help with studying and gaining understanding. You have to study but this class really is not that difficult to do well in.
Took Dr. Narayan for Nursing Chemistry 110. As far as her accent goes it's a little difficult to understand at first but if you sit in the front and you pay attention it's easy to adjust. Lots of material covered in a very short amount of time, so I would suggest getting a tutor. The class was difficult but she's the sweetest teacher I've taken.
Dr. Naryans accent may scare you at first but you get used to it I promise. Class is basically self taught by online practice problems and many get tutors. If you go to her office she is very willing to help you with homework. Stay up on the work and study and you'll do fine. Chemistry isn't easy for everyone but if you complain it'll be worse.
Dr. N is the sweetest woman I have ever met. DEFINITELY get the book and actually use it. That book saved my grade 100%. She does powerpoints in class, and doesn't really show that many examples of how to do things, more like broad concepts. (The book will help you a ton!) The WebAssigns are extremely helpful in learning as well.
I would recommend her only because her practice exams are exactly whats on test! So just memorize those practice exams then study and you will be alright. With the online quizzes, make sure you take them with friends. The only complaint is her strong accent, and she doesn't even give you enough time to complete you exams!
Loved Dr. Narayan! Follow the book and go to solve sessions and you will be fine. Yes there is a slight language barrier, however Dr. Narayan is always there to help and further explain. She's an incredibly loving person as she cares for each student. However, study and know material well as she does not give much time to take lengthy tests!
LOVE narayan. She is very helpful and is there for you any time of the day. Replies to emails quite quickly. The tests aren't very hard but they are long, you have no time to waste. She is also a little difficult to understand, but you can make do. Do the worksheets she posts online because they truly help!
She is extremely hard to understand, you have to really pay attention to understand anything. Her tests are impossible, so be sure to study for them as long as possible. Do all of the homeworks and online quizes, they may save your grade.
She's an amazing person and will help you if you ever need help but its pretty much a self-taught class. You need to really read the text book and study for the exams or you will struggle.
Great teacher who wants the best for her students. Tests are long but not difficult if you study and read. Time is your worst enemy. Do ALL the quizzes and homeworks, these questions WILL show up again on tests (especially multiple choice). The online work is a big grade booster. Take advantage of office hours, she will absolutely help if needed!
Very sweet and nice! Hard to understand at times. I learned by seeing a tutor and by teaching myself.
Narayan is the sweetest professor! She will help you with anything and really gets you to like chem. Definitely do all the Webassigns, her tests reflect them heavily! all in all i loved Narayan! she makes a real tough class easier to survive! Solve sessions really help, too!
Dr. Narayan is so so so sweet. Reading the book saved my semester. Finishing the web assign early it will give you extra credit. She really watched if you come to class. She is very open to giving help but sometimes she doesn't answer the question. Test reflect heavily off of web assign! Study them!
She is extremely hard to understand and to follow in lectures. She is not one to answer your questions in class. The only thing that helped me maintain a C in the class is the online homework and quizzes. I do not recommend anyone taking her.
I have her class 4 days a week. She gives tons of homework and it's online so it's even harder since it's chemistry.
Decent, but sign up for tutoring as soon as you don't understand something
Professor Narayan is EXTREMELY hard to understand. The only way not to fail is to teach yourself. The tests are hard and she barely gives enough time to finish them. I definitely don't recommend taking her!
There is a big language barrier, it can be tough to understand her sometimes and she does go quickly in lecture. She doesn't give any extra credit and the exams are NOT curved so make sure you study a lot. She's a nice person but not too good at teaching.
Pro: She knows Chemistry in and out. There will be a lot of assignments so you can always makeup for any bad grades. Con: Most of the work will be online with the computer/laptop. If you are not tech savvy then don't take this. Quiz/Homework are online. Exams are tough just make sure to study the guides. She has a thick accent so be mindful.
I loved Narayan. She offers so much help outside of class. It's not an easy A, but it isn't impossible. If you read the textbook and actually pay attention to the homework instead of just do it to get it done, then you'll be fine. You can understand her perfectly so I don't understand why everyone else thinks you can't. Anyways, great teacher.
This class was one of the hardest things I've ever done. She gives out so many online assignments where you have to draw elements and bonds. The online quizzes were tough as well as the tests! Take the other professor that teaches this course. You won't regret it!
I have never really had difficulty with any of my science classes until I took her class. She is EXTREMELY hard to understand, because of her accent. I think the only pro about her is her office hours. She has a lot of time to answer questions, but good luck understanding her!
Not helpful when you go during office hours. Bad lectures because you can't hear if you're in the back and seats are filled in the front. She doesn't not explain clearly and there is not format to the test so you're unsure what to study for exams. GOOD LUCK!
She is very nice but simply is a horrible professor. She skips slides on the power points, is an extremely hard grader in lab, and does not provide abought time between the fourth exam and the final. If you are good at reading the textbook and teaching yourself this class is for you. Going to class is not beneficial but it is mandatory.
Both unprofessional and ineffective teaching technique; During a lecture, she has a powerpoint up and simply reads from it, does not explain anything. For about 20 minutes of every 50-minute class, she tells "jokes" that are both cringe and not funny whatsoever. Her tests are nothing like the material in class, avoid this professor like the plague.
Worst professor I've ever hard!! If you're looking to fail and/or teach yourself the whole course this is the class for you. Dr. Narayan is a very sweet lady but an awful professor--very hard to understand.
Dr. Narayan is such a nice woman and is very knowledgeable about chemistry, but she cannot teach a college-level class. She reads all of the material straight from the powerpoint, assigns copious amounts of homework each week, and she does not answer any of the questions that you might have on the material. Be prepared to teach yourself the class.
She's the sweetest woman alive, but you will for sure NOT pass her class without tutors, studying with friends, and going to office hours. Worst chem class I've ever taken.
I would definitely not recommend her class. In lab she's very picky with what she wants in post/pre-lab. She's really sweet and will answer questions, but you should go to a tutor. Lots of homework, class isn't much help. If you take her, don't sit in the back, you won't hear her. Have to teach yourself since she reads directly from the powerpoint.
One online HW every week is manageable. Pre-lab and Post-lab due every week. No matter how perfect you make them she will find a reason to take points off. I got A's on all of them but have never once received a 100% from her. She is very understanding and WANTS her students to succeed. Always takes time to make sure everyone understands material.
she is not like everyone makes her out to be, at least for her lab. If oyu just show up and do the lab and the lab reports you will pass with an A. I spent 1 hour on pre lab and 1 hour on post labs and always get a 95 on the work. Again, Just do the work and you will be fine. She will also help you if something doesnt work out correctly online.
Dr. Narayan is very approachable and will always give feedback on grades. She is very helpful in lab and is always willing to assist when students are confused. Her grading, however, is very inconsistent and changes from assignment to assignment. Overall, she was a good lab instructor.
Dr. Narayan is sweet and funny. I would not recommend reaching her by email, but she is very helpful in office hours. It is not hard to do well in her class as long as you put in the work. She speaks softly and has an accent, so it is important to sit in the front. Her grading is inconsistent (I think she just doesn't like to award perfect scores).
Hard to rate Narayan bc I love her as a person but not as a professor. I had her for lecture as well as lab. Lab was a lot easier, I received an A, just turn everything in on time. In lecture you'll teach yourself bc you'll be so confused and flustered. Hard to email bc she doesn't answer your point of email sometimes. Has a tough Accent.
She does give 2 attempts per assignment.
She is very sweet and caring and loves to engage with students. Because the class was online, she assigned homework assignments weekly from a free online textbook. She provided other resources that helped too which served as extra credit for the end of the semester. She really wants everyone to pass but you have to study hard if you want an A.
She assigns way too much work that she does not really grade. I had her for both lecture and lab. Lab was fine but she was so particular about what she wanted for the pre-lab and post- lab. She was not really consistent either. She was sweet and caring. But she is a terrible professor. She answers your emails but never what you ask in the email.
I had Dr. Narayan for chem lab. She's very helpful and if you go to her office hours, she really helps out a lot and gives great feedback. Make sure to follow the rubrics for the post labs and you should be good. For pre-labs, she allows second chances to redo it. She's a very nice person and I liked taking this class.
