this teacher is unbelievable. she is very helpful with the students and always acted like she was one of us (students)when we talk to her. she makes you feel uneasy and i think thats important. she dont really care about tardiness, she gives you all the notes and what to study, she even does regrades, which i think is just the best idea!=))))

i was terrified of this course b4 taking it. prof. salm teaches the subject in a language which is clear, focused & applicable to everyone's lives. she intuitively knows if students r grasping it, whether you ask for clarity or not, she just knows, stops & goes over it again. Hands down, the best teacher I've ever had! So knowledgeable, so helpful. She really wants you to succeed. I was dreading taking this course but Prof. Salm turned that all around -- I actually enjoyed it! I recommend this teacher to anyone taking Bio 425 or Bio 420.

Excellent teacher, extremely knowledgeable,encouraging & reassuring, very funny with lots of interesting stories to help you remember details. Gives summarized notes which was very easy for studying & tests. If you study & pay attention during classes, it'll be an easy A. Gives bonus points, reviews material before each test (sometimes with tips).

Absolutely BRILLIANT. If you want a professor that truly cares about her students then Sarah is the one. She makes learning fun and easy. I'm horrible in the sciences but I ended up getting an "A" for both Micro & BIO 425 because of her.

Professor Salm is one of the best at BMCC. She is very concern about her students. She makes sure her students understand or you can speak with her privately. She loves Microbiology & lab and she makes the class interesting. Study all her handouts and you will be sure to get an A. I did very well in her class besides having other science classes.

she is very down to earth. She cares so much about her students and wants you to learn the materials. Because of her I got more interested in working in a research field. Simply the best. A great teacher who obviously enjoys teaching. I don't understand rating a professor on their easiness. Fools, school isnt supposed to be easy ! If you want to learn something you will in Prof Salms class, and enjoy it too. If you are an indifferent lazy student, dont steal a space in her class from someone who is willing to work.

Awesome professor, very very helpful, exams are straight from her notes, no book needed... she makes you work hard with her notes because there is alot of material, but she is very organized and teaches from the roots of microbiology.... I loved her... and you will too.. she is also very very very funnyyy

Yes, believe the hype, not sure if she is the best in bmcc but definitely best in science department. She is very funny, makes the material interesting. Fair test and great review sheet and great handout. Stick with the review sheet and hands out and pay attention in class, then it is a easy A.

She is not easy A, You need to prepare to study a lot from her handout. EXam include short questions, essay, and hard M/C. I got an A but got much stress in her class, Except for the hard exam, she is almost perfect, clear, interesting and knowledgeable. Don't argue with her about the grade after each exam, she would get mad.

I think she is a fair professor. She will bust your balls if your not putting the effort in. It is not an easy class but if you know your stuff and turn in labs you can get an A. I think she's really refreshing, with the English accent and sense of humor. I learned so much in her class. If I wasn't transferring I would definitely take her again!

One of the best professors in BMCC. Tests were difficult but you will learn so much. Can't rave enough about her. Truly brilliant and excellent professor.

Finally somebody who can really teach, I mean pass the knowledge. Huge fun of this subject! Fun class even though taken in the evening. Exams made of m/c, short answers, essey and bonus question. For me the exams were easy, especially m/c.

I love her teaching style and how she relates learning material real life, it's really helpful. She is very clear, funny, and such a nice lady. If only she teaches BIO220, I would have taken her again.

Dr. Salm is an amazing professor. I am so upset I didn't have her for my lecture. She goes above and beyond and makes learning interesting and fun. She put's everything in a way for you to understand and breaks it all down for you. She has no problems staying after class and having office hours for you to understand the work. Definitely the best !!

AMAZING, Sooo passionate and helpful. Dr. Salm was a blessing to have too bad I only had her for lab wish I had her for lecture as well. She is VERY fair but you must do the work and study. Highly recommended.Yes,she is fast paced,but is not at all averse to her students asking her to repeat herself or the concepts.She is readily available for office hours.Never have I seen such a passionate professor.She's witty & sharp,& treats you like an adult,so don't bring teenaged behavior into the classroom.Read,do the work & get that A!

I took microbiology with prof. Salm and I intentionally chose it to be hybrid( lab in class, partly online) so I could manage my time better. Initially the professor seemed very strict but once you get to know her she is very helpful and passionate about teaching. I loved her class. Exams are a mix of multiple choice with short answers.

Prof. Salm is the best ther is. She is an asset to BMCC and students. Knows her material inside out and from all sides :-) She is absoulutely THE BEST !!!

My sister and I were enrolled in the hybrid course for the Fall semester. The Hybrid course was not difficult. Online quizzes, lecture notes, podcast, in class reviews were all helpful.It's an easy class if you put in the work. The prof made the materials easy to comprehend. The exams were consisted of multiple choices, short answers and an essay.

You see Prof. Salm name on the class = TAKE THE CLASS!!!Having Professor Salm as BIO420 professor in BMCC was like winning NY Lottery!!! :-) She has amazing personality and is very enthusiastic about success of her students. Dear Prof. Salm. Thank you for all your effort!!!

I just finished this hybrid course for Microbiology for Fall 2013 and it was great! She is so helpful and provides you with so many different tools to study - there is no reason not to do well. I did buy the book but mainly stuck to her lecture notes and ppts that she posted on blackboard and it was so helpful. One of the best profs at BMCC!

Professor Salm awoke my interest in biology. I did not have a science background and got an 'A'. Her lectures are well explained and thorough. She is passionate and her class interesting, with her real life examples. She provides information to get an 'A', but you MUST STUDY. She is very encouraging and an obvious asset to BMCC.

I can't say enough good things about Prof. Salm. She is incredibly engaging, smart, and very, very funny. I took her hybrid BIO 420 class, and you definitely have to be self-motivated to keep up, but she gives you just about everything you could possibly need to study effectively (podcasts, lecture notes, etc.) and her recitation/lab is amazing.

The best professor you can ask for. Very easy, down to earth and cares very much about her students, provides more than you can ask for to pass the class which includes study guides, practice exams, lecture notes and power points. All I can say, she is the best professor ever. I took the hybrid course while in summer and it was a really tough class vut Prof. Salm gives you all the material and opportunities to get a good grade and mos importantly to understand it. I would suggest to take the class in a full semester,there is a lot of work and very little time during summer

Prof Salm is a gifted professor. I am not a science major, and her class was my favorite of the semester. Of course there is a lot of information to cover in Biology, but her class was run perfectly and she has a great sense of humor.

You must register prof. Salm's class without doubt, asap. She is really great, I cannot explain you how amazing prof she is. She was my lab prof but she really helped us from lecture class too. Her explanations are crystal-clear,with simple drawings she explains you whole difficult chapters and you will get it very quickly. Trust me take her class

By far the best science professor I have taken. Have a great sense of humor and teaches well. For the lazy bums out there: She's also one of the more lenient professor on grading. No excuses to not get an A (of course you still have to put in a fair amount of effort, but really if you study, you will do well).

Professor Salm is perfect for microbiology! If she's lecturing a disease, she probably has contracted and will tell you her experience. She makes her lectures fun and exciting that will make people WANT to learn from her. However she is very strict and exams aren't easy, but they are fair. Don't check your phone in class and don't chew gum in lab!

now that I'm officially in the nursing program at BMCC, I find myself missing Sarah's class and wished she taught fundamentals. Her micro lectures were amazing and she sparked an interest for microbiology for me. Her exams weren't easy IMO but at the end of class she dropped labs and lowest exam so it's not impossible. She's very funny and laid back. Exams are tough but fair, she gives u multiple chances to get an A. She gives extra credit on the exams. Lecture quizzes are taken online after every chapter is completed. The class itself is tough so do not let it intimidate you. You will pass. I guarantee you will not regret taking this course with her.

She is amazing, however, beware you must do the work (as in any other class). She's hilarious and her lectures are amazing. 1000% would take her again, Dr. Salm is very knowledgeable and caring. If you miss a class, you miss important info. So do the work and you'll be okay

If you don't do the work you will not pass the class, It's A&P, you have to understand every details of it. Read a book, practice, go to youtube, ask the professor or classmates, there should be tons of possibilities to do the work and get an A. And there are tons of reasons blame to everything, well, don't do that, because ur going to be a nurse.

I love Prof. Salm. Not only is she hilarious, she makes every class enjoyable. The class is hard, I admit; but if you try your very best, I guarantee you will be fine. :)

Professor Salm is awesome! She will go out of her way to help you, she really cares about her students and wants to inspire them. That being said this is a science class and you better be ready to work. I really enjoyed taking microbiology with Salm, looking back its amazing how much information we crammed in.

The BEST! Professor at BMCC by far take her if you don't you will regret it. Lectures are clear, answers all questions very accessible responds quickly to emails she uses power point gives 5 exams easy if you STUDY drops the lowest. A lot of reading, book is required and lab manual. Follow her notes AND READ the book. Before dropping talk to her.

I like Salm because she's straightforward about her expectations and she doesn't try to trick you at all. It's no walk in the park but she does her best to help you understand the concepts. She's always open for students going to her office hours for extra help. there are several tests, lab work, hw, and case studies. Overall, great professor.

she cares about her students and will want you to speak with her if anything happened or you didn't understand something. She is really funny and tells you what and what not to learn. She explains things thoroughly and overall, a fair grader. just work hard and read the slides and you are good to go.

She's one of the best professors. She cares and gives students every opportunity to do well. I was afraid I wouldn't do well but I'm happy I took her. She's funny and makes you more eager to learn. There are lab reports, case studies, lab test and connect homework, besides the regular 5 exams to boost up your grades. Drops the lowest grade.

Prof Salm is the best science professors I have ever take and this is coming from a student who does care so much for school. Her first exam was a bit difficult but the following was manageable (drops lowest grade). She gives a lot of extra credit / do the homework and if she sees you trying, she will help you. Very approachable & understanding

Honestly, she's an amazing professor, always telling funny stories related to the topic she's talking about. I think showing up to class is important. Its not an easy A, you'll have to put in work. Her lab class is really simple, just follow instructions and she's always helping if you need it. Only collects like 4 labs. Lab exams are easy.

with remote learning I was skeptic how the semester would turn out but she is truly one of best teacher I had and she gives multiple chances to receive a A. study guide for each exam however even with remote learning she know when a student is cheating so don't brother even trying. If you study you will be fine.

Well organized , clear expectations set out from the beginning with calendar , exams , assignments and home / lab work. lots of opportunities to do well in her class. I took BIO420 with Dr. Salm and learned copiously from her. I am a career-changing student with not much biology background. I was extremely nervous to take such a high-level science class. Her lectures were so easy to understand. She provided all the tools for me to excel. She is very caring and will go out of her way to help you. TAKE HER!!

Im not great with biology but she was great. Dont cheat, nothing is worse than berating the class like 5 year olds. You have to study and make sure you have GOOD notes. I found the second exam to be the most difficult. You need to be on time and she doesnt mind extending owed projects. She is an easy grader and you have plenty of chances to pass

She is AMAZING! She definitely cares about every student and tries her best to improve your grade, you won't regret taking her. Usually, she won't embarrass students unless they do something disrespectful like cheat on the exam or chat loudly with someone in class.

Top-tier Prof. She cares about her students and will go out of her way to ensure that topics are understood. She gives thorough lectures, and has no problems with answering questions. Very funny too...I have never seen her intentionally embarrass students unless they were disrupting class or cheating on an exam. Imo, it's warranted in that case.

Never thought I would like microbiology but here I am I loved it. She is a great professor, super easy going, gives extra credits and opportunities for her students to do better. Heavy lecture as we should be but overall great professor!

microbiology is so hard but professor salm makes it very easy. she's literally the sweetest and most cariest professor. she gives extra credit and doesn't penalize for late work. she gives hints too so make sure you review her study notes but all her tactics and advice will help you on the exams. just study and be prepared. really recommend her.

I was the one who rated her 2.0 saying "SHE DOES GO OUT OF HER WAY TO TRY TO EMBARRASS PEOPLE" However I judged her too early. she does hate when people use their phones however she is very understanding and extends due dates. Ignore the negative reviews, she is literally such a talented professor/person! Microbiology will be interesting and her humor is great. She is very understanding of life situations and give you plenty of chances, you have 4 exams, some homework quizzes, and lab hw/quizzes. TAKE HER! she cares about her students so much

I took her class on an epermit and i wish i took her for every science class i ever needed. Her lectures aren't boring at all she's clear with what's on the exams . She was a breath of fresh air that understands life happens. The extra credit on her exams helped a lot. I will take her any chance that i can get ! She's a gem !

Quite literally the best professor I've ever had. I took A&P1 lab with her, as well Microbiology. She's very kind, lenient and compassionate. She truly cares for her students and will go out of her way to teach you anything you don't understand. Can't recommend her enough!

I had Sarah for lab but wish I had her for lecture as well. Very funny, quirky personality and keeps you engaged through out the lecture. She can be a bit strict ant first but overall is great. TAKE HER!
