She's great! Bio is a difficult subject for anyone so there's really no easy way to spin it but she's there to help and give you extra attention if need be. She treats her students well and sticks to the syllabus. Very intelligent person, has good control of the material. I wish I was staying at OCC longer so I could take more of her classes!
I honestly think she tried hard but for me- she did nothing. She wasnt helpful and I felt no matter how hard I tried to prepare myself for her exams it was never good enough. I'm an A-B student but did horribly in her class and now I have to retake it. Her lectures were not helpful whatsoever and neither were her notes I wish I never took her class
Had her for Microbio, she is definately tough and her essays were ridiculous, many in essay short anwser, so detailed she claimed to study the chapter objectives for help with exams and quizzes but I felt it was the totoe opposite, the lab wasnt to bad she was helpful but i would not recommend taking her, talks wayyy to fast and whips thru lecture
This is a tough class. The prof flies through lecture. She likes her trick questions on exams and homework. Expect to go through 30pgs of lecture notes a class. She doesn't take questions until after class. It is clear that she is a new prof. I wish I would have headed the warnings, take molecular bio with someone else. It can't be any worse.
Lectures are very fast paced, doesn't explain in much depth, lectures are almost not worth attending- you need to teach yourself. Take pictures of the class handouts because she doesn't pass any of them back, they would be great to study from. Like previously mentioned, exams have trick questions- very tough unless you have a good background in bio
Very good teacher, enjoyed her class as she taught everything in depth. You need to come for her lectures and come prepared everyday
Lectures are very very fast paced. She doesn't go into depth on subjects, but then asks you in depth questions on tests. No study guides for tests. PowerPoint slides are difficult to understand.
Love this teacher. She's very passionate about what she teaches and is very knowledgeable. Class is tough but if you stay on top of studying you'll do fine.
Professor Sid is one of my best instructors at OCC. Even though biology is a tough subject, she tries to make it easy as much as she could. Only studying her powerpoint slides would make you get an A if you really understand the material. Attendance is not mandatory, but every day there is classwork points.
She lectures too fast, really just whips thru every chapter each lecture day if she's reading the material, doesn't break it down to simple language in order to understand. Can't really memorize, you got to know some bio concept inside out. Too many tricky questions she puts on exams and her notes were barely helpful.
I honestly thought she was a good teacher if you memorize her notes you'll be fine her tests are very very easy if you study her labs are pretty straight forward she helps you with everything in lab if you need it. keep track of your points and don't blow off the in class homework the points add up :)
She reads through her slides very quickly, she seems passionate about her topic, but also seems irritated when a student doesn't grasp a concept or falls behind. I think shes trying to cram too much information into one class period. Very face paced and hard to keep up, you have to print the notes if u want to follow along.
Dr. Sidiropolous does most of her class in a lecture-based environment, and she moves very quickly through the material. There is hardly time to ask for clarification on the material, which makes it very difficult to follow along with her.
I took her for BIO 1530 & enjoyed her class so I was excited to take her again for 2710. Yes, lectures are fast-paced, but if you print slides for class you will be fine. Tests are straightforward - everything comes right out of the notes. Very helpful in lab as well. Grading is straightforward, there are lots of easy points if you attend lectures.
Professor was great! Key to passing this class/tests is to print the notes. You do not use the book, but take lots of notes on the printed outlines. That is 100% where all of here test/quiz questions come from. Quizzes are harder than exams. She is a great teacher, lectures uber fast, and she is super smart. Lectures last until the last minute!
Every class she gives out 1-3 points for doing in-class worksheets, COME TO CLASS OR YOU WILL FAIL All of the material comes from her notes. She goes over tests and quizzes in class and does a lot of review throughout lecture! Mirco is a tough class! be prepared to study hard, but prof. Sid is a sweetheart and honestly wants you to do well!
The material is pretty tough and requires you to actually put in the study hours recommended per credit hour. Read the book and watch youtube videos based on the lecture to help. Show up to class! There's in class homework, and some take home and those points are VALUABLE trust me. TBH the quizzes are harder than the exams which are multiple choice
She lectures very very fast, this ended being a very tough class for everyone. I think she realized and provided a lot of bonus points to give students a cushion before the final exam, which isn't cumulative. The only thing i could complain about is the fast paced lectures but looking back i think we would of been very far behind if she didn't.
I took her BIO1 class and found that it was pretty easy. Her lectures can be very fast-paced, i recommend reading the chapter and taking your own notes before class. A lot of in class homework points (don't skip). The tests are super lecture based so as long as you follow along and pay attention during class you'll be fine.
Professor Sid. is a very good teacher but this is a very difficult class for an intro class. She lectures very quickly and packs a huge amount of information into each lecture. Labs are fairly straight forward but you do have to understand all of the lecture concepts to do well on them. She answers questions thoroughly though and grades quickly!
I am a science major and it was essential that I performed very well in this Biology class. I absolutely loved it and earned an A, but it look a lot of work outside the lecture to earn that A. I was constantly making notecards and re-reading lectures to study. Professor Sid is awesome, very intelligent and willing to help you any time.
The best of the Worse. This teacher gives a lot of material in a short time. Class time is required, you will need the homework points. Quizzes and Exams are given often. Which are difficult. There is no points to help your grade, homework is only 2-3pts compared to a 200pt exam. Wasn't very helpful outside of class.
Professor Sid is a great professor. I have retained a lot of micro information from her lectures. She does give a lot of hw/tests but it really just reiterates the material (aka more help studying). No complaints about her at all! If you want to learn micro (tually remember it, take her!)
You have to work hard for your grade. I am currently busting my butt for a 4.0, but she explains everything SO well. You have to keep up with lectures because the material builds on. You MUST attend class, you DO need the homework points. Quizzes are write out, exams are fair if you study the notes. Hope you get a good lab partner since she chooses
Sid is overall a good professor. Her class is a bit challenging because each class you are going to be covering a whole entire chapter. The material is very dense and will require a bunch of outside time. It was hard for me to understand concepts when she would teach so I went home and watched tons of videos on it until I got the ideas. Labs are ok
Class is very fast paced and does not make notes and information on the notes clear. You are expected to know all of the information before coming to lecture. Hard to keep up if you are taking multiple classes. Test and quizzes are very often around every 2 weeks.
she doesn't care about you. she comes to class read her slides and leave. some times give 2 tests a day lab+ lecture. She say a lot of important info during the lecture and it is not in the slides. her exams are not easy. no direct question form the slides. more like critical thinking questions. tough grader in lab tests.
in lab she does not explain the lab good enough. Speak very fast. And she will not tell you that you doing something wrong unless if you ask her. She will not tell you the important stuff to finish your unknown, it will be in the back of your lab manual. She doesnt care about student, like a robot. No feeling. ( you do this , you get that)
Hard Professor. Doesnt take questions very well and makes you feel stupid when you do decide to ask a question. Lecture heavy and skips over important information that may be on tests or quizzes. I will not be taking her again for any of my future biology classes.
Very fair. Is your teacher, not your friend, but very educated about her subject and wants you to succeed. Write the notes by hand, make a study group, ASK QUESTIONS. It's a hard class, but it's definitely what you make of it. Entirely doable.
Dr Sid is very sweet, but also rather aloof. Her teaching style is really quite rigid; lectures are kinda stiff. Not enthusiastic about answering questions. Helpful in the lab - you need only ask her - but a bit of a tough grader on lab exams. She won't develop a dialogue with you & doesn't do much to make the material very relatable or tangible.
Talks extremely fast, won't go back and cover much if asked. Doesn't respond well to questions in class. lectures are heavy. Dont expect to leave lab early. Printing the powerpoint and free-handing notes on those helped a lot. Says a lot in lecture that aren't in the notes that you will see on exams. worked my butt off for this class.
lecture are heavy, a lot of exams, some days we don't have anything and next week we have two exams in the same day. she doesn't care about the student. She put slides sometimes reed so much slide and finish the chapter. and after that it is the student problem to finish it. just make you heat your life when you study with her.
Professor Sid is very intelligent. She understands that her class is hard and does her best to relay the information needed to pass. Her exams are hard but they are not intended to trick you. There was a quiz or exam every week, but you get used to it. She offers lots of extra credit homework points, which will boost your grade in the end.
She is awful, I had no idea what she was teaching, she lectures so heavy and so fast you have no idea what's going on, the lab's are awful, her testing is miserable, so good luck. Get a tutor.
Prof. Sid is a nice professor. she knows her stuff. She is like a robot at times. she talks quite fast and the material is hard, so good luck understanding anything. her test are pretty difficult, consist of, there is a "more correct answer" types of questions. you need to stay on top of your game to have a good grade in this class.
This is one of the hardest classes I've taken, but it's not impossible. Professor Sid covers lots of material at a very fast pace in class, so you will need to review daily to do well on the exams. She is a very thorough tester. The labs were extensive and very detailed, but she will help you out if you ask. Good luck!
Good professor. I asked her for a reference letter at the end of the semester and she did it for me. She masters the material. you just need to work hard for this class!
She dosen't care about you. She come to the class read her slide to finish as much as she can, and it is the your problem to understand and memorize the lecture. She says alot of important stuff for the exam in lecture so record her lecture. her exams are mean like she tend to trick you and fail you. If you pass that mean your are good not her.
COME TO CLASS EVERY DAY. SHE TALKS A LOT BUT SHE DOES POWER POINTS. HER TESTS ARE OVER HER POWER POINTS BUT ALSO MORE OF THE EXTRA THINGS SHE SAYS ABOUT HER SLIDES. SHE GOES VERY FAST SO WRITE FAST
don't do it. she's awful. i made the mistake and took the chance. every person i mentioned that i took her would go "WHYYYY". please don't take her.
Lectures very fast off slides. Says that the objectives slide in the notes is your study guide but maybe 20% of the exam comes from knowing the objectives. Quizzes are short answer/critical thinking and not multiple choice. Exams are oddly structured and difficult. Part I did best in was lab because you basically teach urself from the lab book.
If you are not already an amazing biology student, I recommend not taking Sid. She is a legit robot in class - she will read directly from her slides and explain it in a very fast manner. When asked in class to explain something more thoroughly she'll respond "we don't have the time", even when more than half the class is confused. Good luck.
Yeah, she's a really difficult professor. But it's college biology, what did you expect? This class weeds out the medical-wannabes and that's the bottom line. I put in up to 10 hours studying per week and I received an A in the class. That's what it takes. Prepare for labs ahead of time and you will always get 100. Study from her slides, not book!
This class seems scary at first (and more than a quarter of the class ends up dropping) but it honestly gets better and she gets nicer as the semester goes on, lol. Also at the end of the semester there ends up being quite a lot of extra credit. At least like 25 points or so (which is A LOT for this class, trust me). STUDY REALLY HARD & u'll pass!!
You will need to work to get a good grade in this class
Never thought I would hate biology but I ended up detesting it. Half of the class dropped by midterm, very tough grader. Lab is complicated although it shouldn't be too difficult. She doesn't teach, what she does in class is throwing out everything she knows out there and leave it for the students to take care of themselves. Don't take her
This class was by far one of the most demanding courses I have taken at OCC. Tests and quizzes are frequent & require a lot of time spent studying outside of class. Prof Sid posts her lecture slides ahead of time so they are printable for you to bring to class & follow along in lecture. While it was very hard, I did learn a lot from this prof.
Have had to take her class twice and have not enjoyed her class. Lectures are very quick and comprehensive. Trying to find a review to study for exams are difficult.
This class is entirely lecture based. She is a fast speaker and will power through the slides to finish teaching the whole chapter before class ends. When asking her questions, she seems to provide an answer that leads to even more questions. The lab is written by her so there is no escaping her teaching style which is subpar.
If you haven't already taken bio, don't take. This is the first C I have received in any science class. This prof is extremely smart and intelligent, but does not seem to possess any teaching skills. The lectures are very convoluted which makes it even harder to understand info in the book. 10/10 do not recommend this professor. Labs are very long
Study my butt off but still received a bad grade. This was a very stressful class.
This class is an easy A if you put the time and work in outside of class! Professor Sid is very knowledgeable and helpful if you seek extra help outside of class. Between lectures, labs and self studying you repeat the information multiple times before youre sitting for the exam!
No matter; how much I studied for her exams I didnt pass any of her exam except the 1st one where I got a 90% since it was based on previous knowledge. Whatever she teaches, you wont see anything that on the exam. All you have to do is just guess guess and guess. Im so full of hate rate now. I have so much to say...... UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Dr. Sid is absolutely amazing and I highly recommend taking bio with her (Ive had her for 1530 and Im currently in her 1570 class). Her lectures are heavy with information so youre learning a lot at once (especially true for split classes), but if you study regularly and read the chapters in the book beforehand, you will be absolutely fine :)
Absolutely horrific! She's the only teacher at OCC that teaches the required science classes for the nursing program. She is THE WORST teacher I've ever had. Reads word for word off a powerpoint and her tests aren't even from the powerpoint, she pulls her information from thin air! DO NOT TAKE HER FOR ANY CLASSES! I retook this class another campus
She does not curve her grading. Does not give you your exams back so if you want to know what you did wrong, you have to go to her office hours. She gives note, but the exams are NOT aligned with her notes. If I had to retake this class, i would NOT select her and I will NOT recommend anyone select her.
She is almost too knowledgeable to be teaching a beginner course. Blunt explanations are given, which some like, but the majority are left in the dust. She struggles with boiling down topics to make them more relatable and understandable. The topics covered are interesting, but overwhelming. I think her students would benefit by her slowing down.
I loved professor SID for Microbiology. Her lectures were straight forward and she made a very complex topic entertaining. Her background in this topic is truly inspirational for anyone that is interested in biology! You will have to study, but if you do the tests are easily passable.
Horrible Experience ever! She knows a lot about Biology, but does not know how to teach. Her lectures go super fast and students do not understand what is happening. The grading is very unclear. Labs are easy to do, but quizzes and exams are very hard. I passed the class, but i wouldn't take any other class with her.
I can't understand all the negative reviews! Dr. Sid is here to teach, not to be your best friend. She knows what she is talking about and does a great job applying it in lectures. It's not an easy class, it's certainly NOT an easy A, but that's to no fault of the professor! Rate the professor not the class content!!! She is great and truly caring.
Professor Sid is very demanding. She expects you to come prepared to her class, many people complained act lectures but I honestly enjoyed it. She does not stop for a second so you might leave her classroom feeling overwhelmed. I feel like she needs to clarify more how to do labs and she was a very tough grader even on homework.
I love the way Professor Sidiropoulos explains things and she combines a lot of different learning methods to appeal to all types of learners and really help you understand a topic. I was intimidated to take this class but am very happy I did and had Sidiropoulos as my professor. Your grades will reflect your effort.
Gives 20 minutes to finish a 16-18 question short answer quiz which gives you no other option to either write random bs to be able to finish in time, or run out of time and fail. She also grades on if you watched her lecture videos 100% of the way through, so if you watch 10%, you get a zero, if you watch 99%, you get a ZERO. I hate it Here
She only gives us 20 minutes for the quizzes which are like 20 questions, and 50 minutes for the exams which are 50 questions. I emailed her asking if she could give us more time on them because it is very hard to finish in that short amount of time, and she assumed I had a disability and said she won't give me more time if I don't have one.
This was by far the worst class Ive ever taken and her teaching is TERRIBLE! She expands on things as if weve been scientist for 40 years and understand. I will never recommend this class to anyone If she is teaching it!! NONE OF THE EXAM/QUIZZES are given enough time to even think about an answer. Just DO NOT take this class!!!!!
Make sure you read the syllabus ALL THE WAY THROUGH. I had this class online. Make sure you watch all the lectures and do all the extra credit because it really helps! She was very helpful when I e-mailed her. She is very intelligent and seems to be very interested in the topic information. The work you put in reflects your grade for sure!!!
This was a great course! READ the syllabus. Exams are 50min for 50 questions (multiple choice), quizzes are 20min for 14 questions (t/f, short answer), but if you study and dont rely on them being open book you will be ok. She gives a lot of extra credit too. She is super responsive and helpful. This class is about that work YOU put in.
Do not take this class online with this professor. I am a great student and have never had to withdraw from a course. She gives no time for quizzes and exams, for example she gives a 20 multiple choice/written question quiz and gives only 20mins, no time to think for your answers. She piles on lecture videos each week. This class stressed me out.
This class is definitely based on the work YOU put in, but if you do the work youll get a good grade. Theres a lot of homework, but the class is always very consistent so if you get into a specific routine, it shouldnt be too hard. The tests are kinda of hard, but if you study youll be fine! Overall, it wasnt an easy A class but I liked it!
She organizes her lessons nicely, provides good feedback, and is quick in responding to your questions via email. Her exams were hard, but then again microbiology can be a difficult subject. The way she explains stuff makes the concepts pretty easy to understand. As long as you pay attention during class and take notes, you should do well.
Professor Sidiropoulos is very knowledgeable but very lack luster. She's the only one who is in the Microbio department, so she makes her own content. Her online content is cheat proof, but too short to the point where some content doesn't make sense. I was asked if I could be pulled from the class, but she denied me service. I was lucky to get a C
Professor Sid is extremely intelligent and knowledgeable when it comes to biology, but when it comes to teaching she lacks the skills. I am a straight A student with a high GPA and this is the first class that I have failed. The lectures are not anything thats on the test, and the test times are too short and impossible to even complete. Good luck
DO NOT TAKE HER. She tests and quizzes like you have taken Micro for years. She may know a lot but she has no teaching skills. Her quizzes are short answer and T/F. Her tests are 50 questions 50 mins. she gives a project as well that you have present as a lecture. waste of time. choose someone else. she will effect your GPA. Pick someone else.
Prof Sid's class was one of my favorite classes taken yet at OCC. But given, I have always been interested in bio. I studied for tests usually by making flashcards based off her study guides. Prof Sid gives plenty opportunities for extra credit too. If you genuinely are interested in biology I find that you will learn plenty and enjoy the class!
This class is hard, but rewarding if you actually put work in and study. This is not some beginners class, you learn real content that applies to your real life. However, that also means that you have to study like crazy and READ THE TEXTBOOK because she doesn't have all the info on the test in the lectures, but from the book as well. she is great!
I think she was a great professor teaching a hard class. You have to keep up or you will not pass. Quizzes and exams are open book but dont let that fool you- you dont have time to check answers so be prepared!! I thought quizzes were harder than exams.
Prof Sid is passionate about microbiology, and incredibly knowledgable. This class is TOUGH! However, still my favorite class I've ever taken. The course load (online) is a lot & you simply will NOT pass if you do not put in the work and STUDY! I truly think EVERYONE should take this class, especially during a pandemic.. Incredible class/professor!
This class is so hard for no reason at all. You have to be really interested in Biology and also have too much time on your hands. This is not a beginner course and the tests and quizzes are not realistic as it's her own material. Run.
I love Prof Sid, she's passionate and friendly and very upfront about her class. But a fair warning: this is a difficult biology class, and she WARNS you about this in her very first lecture. Just do your work and ask questions and she will help you!!! As long as you try and use your head, you won't fail.
you can only pass the class if you do well on tests like you need to get a 70-80 on each one she is very dismissive. get ready to read you take a chapter test on 3 or 4 chapters at a time and yes no matter how hard you study she troughs major curveballs be prepared.
Hands down the best teacher ever. Class could be hard but its a bio class so you need to pay attention.
get ready to study for about 6-10 hours a week. DO NOT do what I did in the beginning and go into this class thinking you can half-watch the lectures and can simply look up the answers. I started off that way and was not doing well. Write down everything she says during lectures, make flashcards, and do the extra credit and you will get an A.
Professor Sid is one of the best teachers I've ever had. She is incredible knowledgeable and passionate about biology. This class moves quick, so be prepared. However, if you go to class and lab, read the book, study after class and have some basic knowledge about biology you will do well. BTW make best friends with your lab partner.
worst professor ive ever had. knows a lot of biology but does know how to teach it. on exams or testes you cant go back to the question once you click next you cant go back no matter what. and didnt help me at all. doesnt give any changes. i dont recommend taking her if your not just trying to focus on this class ONLY!!!!!!.
I liked her! Class is very lecture heavy but she's obviously very passionate about the subject so it was never boring. The content can be confusing so don't skip out on lectures. Ask questions if you have them, she moves quickly but will stop to see if anyone needs something clarified.
I typically do well in all my classes but this professor has made in nearly impossible to do so. This is the worst professor I've ever had. I never leave reviews but I had to for this one. Quizzes and exams have time limits that make it nearly impossible to complete them. If you anything but a fast test taker don't take this professors class.
Lectures are all online and you must watch the entire thing and answer pop up questions throughout the video as well as submit draw alongs, which is not the difficult part. What is difficult is being TIMED for short answer responses on quizzes, which ruins the quality of responses. you need lots of time to succeed in this class.
This Professor is one of the worst I've had. She doesn't tell you what to study and barely any of the lecture or lab material is on the tests. She insulted my study habits. She goes superrrrr fast during the lecture, it is impossible to keep up and take notes. Pushes political ideologies. Grades hard and the tests make no sense. DO NOT TAKE!!!
worst professor i have had. the exam questions make no sense you get 50 mins for 50 questions its not nearly enough time to actually think about the question. quizzes are just as bad 20 mins and 13 question 6 of which are written theres not enough time. she needs to use peer reviewed questions shes terrible at making her own exams dont take her
She knows biology, but doesnt know how to teach biology to others.
She is a great professor, and made me feel comfortable communicating with her about any concern in class. She may be moving fast sometimes, but she always emphasizes important stuff repeatedly.
Quizzes/tests were timed and worded for BIO scholars. I spent hours studying for her tests and couldn't reap the rewards because her exams aren't appropriate. I stopped studying for peace of mind and received the SAME grades as when I was studying hours on end. There is no feedback on anything from her either. She's smart but not a great teacher.
The absolute worst class I have ever taken. IMPOSSIBLE to pass, she is awful at teaching biology. Timed tests/quizzes and the material on tests is different from the material taught. Take this class only if you dont care about your GPA because no matter how much I studied she makes it impossible to succeed !
all i can say is run! so much homework for only 2 points which is ridiculous its a joke. the most unfair worst professor ive got. the material studied is not on the test. her quizzes are short answers and not enough time to complete. i have all A's in my other classes shes very very very difficult dont say this post didnt warn you.
Extremely test heavy!!
Idk what everyone else is saying about her, I felt she was a fair grader. It's microbiology, it's a weed out course, of course the material is going to be hard. You will have to work in this class but the professor herself was not the problem, its microbiology itself. It may have been because I had her online though.
Anyone who reviewed her bad hands down just didn't go to class. Show up to class, pay attention and do your homework (not alot).. and study and you will get an A. Everyone in my class who doesn't come to class is failing.. everyone who shows up every day is passing with an A/B. She drops one of everything. I think she is amazing. Take it seriously.
I see a lot of students saying if you show up and put the time in then you will do fine. I find that not true, I put in so many hours of studying, I made flashcards, I used the questions in the book, etc. And I still finished with an C. She zooms through lecture, and her exams are in her own words. Overall, try your best but it is difficult.
worst prof ever. do not recommend
Literally my hardest class by far. Did amazing in bio during high school and she teaches, and it doesn't make sense. She SPEEDS through lectures and nothing what you study for is on the test. I have put in copious amount of hours studying just for her to word it in a way that doesn't make sense. SAVE YOURSELF AND DONT TAKE HER.
This class is a tough weed-out course, but with the right approach, you can succeed. The material is challenging, but try using unstuck AI alongside other study resources to prepare. Stay focused and you'll make it through.
Professor Sid is my favorite professor so far and I am currently taking ANOTHER one of her classes because she is so great! When I took BIO 1530, I was dual enrolled, 16 years old, it was my first college class, and I was a nervous wreck! I was able to do well because of her advice, and if you follow what she recommends, you will also do great!
Professor Sid works very hard to show what needs to be studied. She provides the power points of the lectures beforehand so that you can take notes on that and she drops an exam grade. All of the exams covered only the material on the power points and the drawings we made in class. Go to class to get all possible points on labs and in class work.
Prof Sid is very intelligent and kept me engaged while watching every lecture video. Definitely print the slides and take your own notes while watching lecture, utilize the textbook for pictures and practice questions, and complete every assignment! This class was a lot of content, however it was interesting and manageable!
She extremely intelligent about biology. I have never tried so hard as a student and fail. Quizzes and exams are timed, (1 minute per question) Wording of questions is confusing. This work load is extreme. 5 or more 30 min lecture videos each week, drawings, extensive discussion boards quizzes and tri weekly exams. textbook reading.
Prof Sid knows what she's talking about, but makes it hard for you to understand. She is very unengaging and I learned little to none from her. She is very unrealistic with the amount of work she gives. Tests and quizzes are timed, so I rushed through them. There's one week where you will get 9, 30+ minute lectures to watch. I don't recommend.
She's very smart and knows her stuff, but the workload is very intense. There are so many lectures a week, and the exams are 50 minutes with questions that don't even give you time to think. Even though it's open-note exams, it feels impossible. She's doing a bit too much with the pacing and assignments.
Be ready to eat, breathe, and sleep microbiology. Lectures don't match the textbook or quizzes. Study guides are unhelpful, and quizzes are too short on time. She grades tough and expects you to think like her. If you have any life outside this class, it will be hard to keep up. Unrealistic expectations overall.
Never choose this Professor. She is a terrible grader would give you a 0% on something you have even submitted before the deadline. She isn't cooperative. She doesnt post any study guides. If you are taking an online class she would make you draw along trivial drawings that you won't even use for the exam! Very bad instructor!
Prof Sid works so hard to make expectations clear and to provide the necessary resources to succeed. She provides her lectures in advance and I can't recommend enough printing them out before lecture to write on them. I can't imagine how she could be more fair and understanding while teaching college level science. I've taken her twice.
Very dedicated professor who truly cares about her students learning the subject. Hard exams/quizzes, are monitored through computer can via honor lock. My saving grace was taking VERY detailed notes, organizing them VERY well, and using them to quickly find info for exams. Does not allow to speed up or skip through lecture videos. LOTS of lecture.
Professor Sid was pretty chill, lots of online lectures but you get graded by answering questions and completing drawings ( which are easy just follow along ) it's science so of course not easy but read , take notes and you'll be fine. Just wish the test were timed long a minute per questions isn't really fair but overall not a bad class
Professor Sid is overall a good professor. I recommend scheduling office hours after the first couple classes to get a feel for it and then ask her for tips on your notes. She doesn't tell the entire class what she's looking for on exams, but if you go to office hours she is more than willing to help. Be aware that her intro class is microbiology.
