Took her class, Reading 961, spring. She is extremely helpful. If you show her you are willing to learn, she will do everything she can do to help you. Pay attention in lecture, do your homework. Ask as many questions as you can, she'll do her best to give you the answers. Take her class. You won't be disappoint. Easy A.

I don't know why she teaches reading class. She teaches everything but READING. She teaches how to be a team, how to cooperate, how important good organized binder is, and we had to write learning log for all our classes including this class. We bought an expensive book and she said that we'll study only 4 chapters. Don't waste your time and money.
One of the most inspirational teachers I've ever had. She's really interested in the way our brains learn, and will leave you with more than just tools for reading, but tools to help you be a more effective student in general. What you learn in this class will literally last a lifetime. Super approachable and kind hearted as well.
Sarah is a fantastic teacher. She gives you interesting material to read and will help you out time and time again. You would have to miss ever class not to pass with at least a B!
I'm currently taking Reading 053. Sarah is always willing to help if you need it. Discussion is class is fun. I would recommend this class. No stress whatsoever in this class. Just do homework, attend class and participate!
She is absolutly one of my favorite teachers since attending mission. She is helpfull and even after the class ended she was there for me if I needed anything on my other classes. She made coming to class extremely enjoyable. EVERYONE should take Sarah!
Fall 2011 class. Easy going and approachable. Wants her students to succeed. Required reading: Maya Angelou bio and Reading Comprehension short stories used in Angel Learning. Class discussions and watching informative videos, along with some writing. Combines all work turned in, plus final to determine final grade. Super nice person. No stress.
she is very helpful with a great patience.I learned a life time lesson not only Reading.
very nice teacher
By far the most amazing teacher ever extremely motivating and gets you excited about learning!
She respects you as adults. I love this amazing woman. Class work is well organized, visuals, group projects, videos. This class was busy, = homework but not overwhelming. Kept journals & learned vocab. Super enthusiastic, positive, captivating, motivational. Can't help but get wrapped up in her lessons. - American Born Chinese, Breaking Through.
I highly recommend!! Articulate, always has a smile on her face,& most importantly, motivates you in every single way!! With all due respect, she's just the total package.
She's very relaxed, and laid back. She doesn't give a final. Only verbal discussions. You need to read the two books that are required and keep a daily note journal to pass.
she very nice teacher, laid back, easy on grading scale, inspire ppl to read for better knowlege, encourage ppl to alway learn, and have positive attitude in mind. she show some interesting video about how ppl succeed in life and what they have been through.... it like a teaching lesson, only read 2 books, and attend her class regularly.
As long as you do all your homework, you will get an A!no tests, quizzes, exams etc. She is super helpful!!!
She is all about expressing ourselves, and metacognitive thinking. She will not stress you out, and do her best to make things work for you. You do need to work to get the grade you want though.
Sarah is awesome!! If anyone wants to take reading class. you have to take hers! it's the best! she is very good at her teaching. very compassionate, patient listen to what you want. and the stuffs she teach is extremely helpful!!! i wish she teaches other classes too!!! I love to go to her class!!!
I will admit I was not excited to take a reading class. I am so happy I had Sarah as a Professor. She truly loves her job and wants her students to succeed. She is just an amazing woman! I highly recommend!
I found out I didn't need this class but I'm glad I'm in it right now since she's teaching us things we could use in real life. She's a very helpful and laid-back person. Amazing professor. Cares for her students!
Sarah's Awesome! My favorite class each week. Class is very organized and consistent. She got a great personality and energy. No required text books just 2 novels. She really has a passion for this. The only down side so far is that she tries to do a lot in each class period and sometimes don't always get to it but were never ever bored.
When it comes to reading, she teaches the strategies and skills very well with great pneumonic systems. She encourages people to read on their own,if you find your self unable to understand why there is barely any reading in the class, it is because she teaches the essential skills, but as college adults, we must apply them our selves
great
I love ms. Sarah. she is a very very very nice and relaxing teacher. Her work is very easy and relax. Sometime she might get you bored, however she is an awesome teacher.
She does her job very well & organized. Shes very interesting , tries to get the whole classroom involved so they don't fall behind. I enjoyed coming to class twice a week and learning new things and refreshing my Schema. If you are planning to take Ms. Sullivan for Read 961. JUST DO IT! don't think about it, I guarantee you will like it.
She should be the president of English department. I wish all the MC professor could learn from Sarah . She is very friendly, Open minded, you can share any thing off the topic, she will always listen you. Class is full of fun. Those who are scared to speak in public they gonna also start speaking her class. Please take her and get easy A. Love her
I loved the class. Sarah made it easy for us and helped any of her students that were falling behind to catch up. She get 10 thumbs up from me will take her next semester. She made everyone feel welcomed. you interacted with the class and never told anyone that was a wrong answer. all answeres were right
I took about 5 reading classes and dropped the class because the teachers weren't very engaging and Sarah was the exception. She was a phenomenal teacher, very laid back, and a great help for the whole journey. By far the best professor in the campus!!!
Take her class. She is the best teacher
Sarah was an absolute pleasure to have as a teacher. I loved how right from the start she made it clear that everyone in the class, herself included, would be learning from each other. I am not a public speaker but Sarah helped me evolve and after, I couldn't keep my mouth shut in class! There are no wrong answers. I hope she teaches more courses!
the very best teacher i have ever had!!!!!!
Sarah is one of the most inspirational teachers you'll ever have. She truly cares and treats everyone as equals. Her teaching style is relaxed and laid back. You do have to read and write everyday, but you are free to work at your own pace. Overall, she's just absolutely the best and I wish she taught more courses!
In the beginning the class seemed fairly easy and she didn't really monitor homework or the binder. After the 8th week it changed. X amount of hours for homework required. The book 4 the class wasn't officially started until 14 weeks into the semester. The class is a little redundant but she is a nice lady. However the structure didn't work 4 me
I took sarahs class last semester and this semester and she was a great instructor. i wish i can take another class of hers. try to do your best in class and you will pass even if you fall behind she will help you out to pass!! I GIVE SARAH A FAT A+++++ THANKS AGAIN SARAH!!!!!!!!! Phillip Rocha
Sarah is an amazing professor, only you would have to right down or keep track what you are doing for your homework hours other than that she's good and I would definitely give her a BIG FAT A++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
She's amazing. Very kind and Easy and Inspiring. You get to sit back and enjoy the time being there. A little bit more of homework but what do you expect since it's a Reading class. She's a must take Professor. You're lucky to be in her class I believe.
Easy grader. She always helps with any problems that you have in class or out. Her class is fun! Sarah you are the best professor. :)
Professor Sullivan is awesome! She is really there for her students and does her best to make a REAL difference. The class is great, you learn many things from various topics. The class is easy as long as you participate and keep up with homework hours. She was one of the most inspirational teachers at Mission for sure.
She is the best teacher I have ever met before. You will learn so many things taking this class. I would recommend each and everyone to take this class with her. She is the best.
She is great! I get a hippie vibe from her hahah. In class it's a routine, daily notes, brain exercises, then discussions. How to get a good grade in her class is to participate when discussing information with other students & complete reading logs. Thats it! What I loved was that there was no hw due every day- its all due for your final!
I loved her way of teaching and friendly nature with the students. She is the best.
She is really cool teacher. You will not get any tension while taking this class. She gives you enough time and chance to improve your grades. Just attend all the classes and actively participate in class discussions. Do the assignments which are not difficult at all. It's really easy to get A in this class.
My first teacher when I came to Mission and I was so glad I had her as a teacher.
Sarah is a passionate professor. She wants you to do well. She encourages collaboration with her in class. She has some great strategies for reading. Take her you won't be sorry!
Shows great concern for students and the way they think. Keep up with binder, she checks. Open-minded to even help with other class concerns. Flexible. Understands the mind and critical thinking quite well. All professors, at all schools should take some time with her to learn what genuine means. Definition of a real teacher.
Honestly, one of the best professors out there. If you have ANY trouble with her class at all, don't be afraid to talk to her. The homework assigned are honestly time-consuming, but they are all due at the end of the semester, so there is no excuse if you fail her class. Everything is kept in a binder, so be organized. Always participate too!
Shes an OK teacher. I just wish she taught more instead of giving us lots of work to do
Sarah is genuine, lovely, sweet, respectful, down to earth, yet classy. Great instructor, great leader! She pulls goodness out of people. Her class is fun, emotionally safe, full of valuable knowledge, scientifically designed. You get to learn essential critical reading skills and meditation, an ultimate life skill. Hours are required for HW.
She's a great teacher, do your homework 6 hour/week and you will get an A. She encourages us to read and improve ourselves.
Great Teacher! I LOVE when she talks about our brain and incorporates it into our class subject. I looked forward to going to her class on Thursdays.
Sarah Sullivan is an inspirational and respectful teacher. Here is how to get an A in her class: 1. Don't skip class because you feel like it. 2. Once you do your HW, make quality. 3. Read, summarize, response to every chapter in the book. Don't need to be extremely meaningful and long, but must finish all of them. 4. Read the SYLLABUS.
the best professor ever! she is passion about what she teaches, truly cares about her student's health. her lectures are entertaining and motivate as well a very understandable teacher with any subject that has to do with her student's, etc., I strongly suggest to take her class.
Homework was fair. The topics and readings are great. Since day 1 Ms. Sullivan opened her class with joy and warmth. Never thought I would love going to class as much as I loved going to my weekly Thu. class. You forget you're in class because it's fun, but you'll leave with a lot of useful information. In short, an EXTRAORDINARY teacher!
Very easy just a lot of summaries and reading
She is amazing. She cares more about learning than strict test and grading. She is good to talk to and always makes a class fun and interactive.
she was one of my favorite professors. she cared more about our learning and learning process then grades. I learned so many useful skills in this class. would recommend to everyone.
Sarah changed my outlook on reading forever. She is such a free spirit and inspirational professor. She really engages each student. Her teaching style is unique and it was an amazing experience. You do have to read for this class but what you learn about your own thoughts and critical thinking was something I will take with me in the future!
She's a very open person n considers everyone's opinion, understands any inconveniences if it may happen to come your way. She really wants to help improve your learning skills and critical thinking, and even help w/ your mental health and well being. She grades you by how long you spend on the homework. It's a really great learning experience!
Sarah is very caring and understanding! You will spend most of semester reading College Fear Factor and doing 3 assignments every week for a chapter. It gets difficult at times but she's an easy teacher and an easy A! I appreciate her greatly and assure you that she is the best choice for READ054!
I don't understand her hype whatsoever. I had to make my binder into 9 parts, read College Fear Factor which is a boring book ever (choose some lines in it and have a critical thinking), metacognitive log whatsover, and made up assignments on my own. Her assignments made me turn to an unmotivated student. I hate school because of her.
Sarah is prob the most caring prof. I've encountered. She is approachable, positive, engaging & dependable. Although this class requires a lot of hw or participation, it enabled me to become a better reader. I had difficulty with comprehending what I read due to my ADD, but now I find myself reading at a faster pace & not having to reread a text.
She is an amazing professor. The best I ever had. She cares about students and is very flexible with due dates. Just show up and write your essays and you will get an A. If you have the opportunity, take her. Everyone wants her! The best English professor.
Professor Sullivan is a great teacher and I learned so much from her class. I really enjoyed the assigned book and the assignments were easy to do.
She's the absolute sweetest teacher and i had the pleasure of calling her my professor! She's very understanding and especially during the pandemic. I loved her teaching style and the overall vibe!
She's kind and nice but her problem is that she has a very weird way of giving grades. We get credit based on the time that we spend on studying each time(9 hours weekly)3 long essays, LOTS OF T2T, Discussions and more. She gives you the whole semester to finish your hw, but she makes a simple class TOO HARD. Would NOT take with her again. Never.
Had to spend at least 10-12 hours for a 3-unit class. Very weird way of grading. Not worth the drama. would NEVER take with her again.
One of the nicest professors ever! She is very supportive and understanding. You earn your grade by logging the hours you spent working in this class each week which I found to be pretty fair.
Sarah is an amazing professor very approachable and understanding. Lectures are interesting and gives the chance for easy extra credit.
Sarah genuinely cares about her students and is incredibly supportive. She always provided excellent advise that helped me improve my writing a lot. I liked the way she organized assignments and the grading system (labor-based). Overall I would definitely take a course with Sarah again and I am truly grateful for her kindness towards her students!
It was the easiest class I took and I am not even good at english. You have to do a total of 3 essays in 8 or 9 weeks(forgot specifics), which is very easy. She grades based on effort which is the amount of time put into her class(based off honor system :D). Only requirements in class is to read the book around 150 pages and complete 3 essays.
Sarah is amazing at her job, she is so supportive and caring. She has so much faith in all of her students which set me up for success!
Professor Sarah is a very nice instructor. She is very helpful, patient, and respectful to herself and others. I would thank her very much for all her help and asking to keep in touch.
Professor Sullivan is one of THE BEST Teacher Ever! Homework' instructions were simple, easy to follow. She provided support in every step of the learning process. You could applied the Metacognitive technique in your daily life, not just for the class. Communication is key. She is caring and very compassionate person. I really enjoyed the class.
Sarah is really nice, very supportive, understanding and patient. She does teach differently compared to the traditional teachers. Three papers are required for the entire class, 1 book which is free to download and will be used to write one of the essays. Sarah is very lax, you have entire semester to submit all work, no penalties for late work.
Professor Sullivan is very great! She teaches differently than others and provides good feedback, kind and caring. There is a lot of reading and homework, but she provides everything step by step, so it is easy to follow. Two required textbooks to read, three essays, late work accepted. I was aiming for B but got A at the end. Awesome!
Professor Sullivan is one of the best English professors I have taken! I took this class over the summer so it was fast-paced, she provided the best support by communicating via Zoom, and email ASAP. Reading was a bit heavy as it consisted of notetaking as homework but helps for future essay assignments! Highly recommend her if you need English!
The beginning of class was smooth but by the 4th week it felt like she just began to pile assignments. I told a friend about this she said it's ironic how it's suppose to be additional support when it sure didn't feel like it. So if you like lectures, 7+ assignments per week, and 3 confusing essays this is the class for you.
I had an amazing experience with Professor Sullivan, a great teacher she is very passionate about teaching and thoughtful. The class itself is very easy but there is a lot of work she gives detailed feedback and would recommend her to anyone who is taking English for the first time.
Sarah's class is my best class ever. Writing 3 essays, reading 1 book, and that's what you need to pass. If English is not your first language, you can still take her class. Pretty easy A. Love her so much!
I had her this past semester! SO so sweet and so motivating! She marks everything as complete versus with an actual letter grade, which I was not expecting straight out of high school. She has everything due at the end of the semester, but has these little stepping stones every week to get you on track! You will not regret taking her :)
She's so understanding and flexible—a great professor to have if you're struggling with English class.
One of the greatest professors I've ever had. I took her class during the 2024 fall term and it was the best decision I could've made. She has a different grading method, which as long as you put in a certain amount of hours into classwork and complete the 3 major essays within the semester, you'll pass with flying colors.
She is a nice and great professor with her academic expert to guide students to complete all of the assignments.
Professor Sarah is one of the most supportive and understanding professor I have had. Her grading style encourages growth, and her feedback is always kind and respectful. She listens to students and is always willing to support different needs. I'm truly grateful to have learned from her.
Very explanative and full of resources to help students succeed.
Professor Sullivan is truly one of a kind! She made ENG 1A not only manageable but genuinely inspiring! Her feedback is always thoughtful, respectful, and pushes you to grow as both a writer and critical thinker. She creates a classroom environment that feels safe and welcoming. I always felt supported and challenged in the best way! The BEST!!
Professor Sarah doesn't focus on attendance since she records her sessions. Furthermore, she has 4 main things that are required to pass her class better known as crystal clear assignments. She's an amazing professor, very kind.
She is a great professor. Zoom classes with her are fun and informative. She has a clear and fair grading criteria. Especially she always gives students good feedback, this helps students to be respected and have good inspiration in learning. I really enjoy her class. I hope to continue studying with her in the future.
Professor Sarah is enthusiastic and full of energy. Learning with her is always comfortable and pleasant. She is always willing to take the time to help me whenever I need support.
Professor Sarah is a fantastic teacher. She really pushes you to engage with your learning that you can't help but want to reciprocate the effort she puts in. With her grading method focused on the effort put into the class, it makes it a MUST recommend.
Professor Sullivan was an amazing professor for my English 1A course. She felt great feedback on the essays and always had a great personality and always accepts late work. There's also plenty of extra credit.
Professor Sullivan is so caring and understanding. She even gifted us physical copies of the book! Your grade depends on the number of hours you spend every week on course-related activities. In this course, you will make annotations called "T2T" or "Talk to Text", and share your experiences and tastes with the class through the discussion board.
Super nice, super understanding and caring, and super easy class. Wierd grading tactic (your grade is based on how many hours you log in.) Lets you negotiate for the grade you want. Overall great and easy class.
i loved her as a professor! super caring and respects her students' time and wish i could take her over and over tbh, assignments were very easy, just took a bit of time! take her!!
Professor Sullivan is an incredibly supportive and encouraging teacher who truly cares about students' growth and success. She will give you what you need, and it is up to you to pass, which isn't hard.
Professor Sarah is one of the most amazing, kind, caring professors I have seen. She really helps students work their best and she wishes for every student to pass the class. I really enjoyed this class with her and I feel she really helped me improve my skills. Alongside this the class was really easy. I would really recommend this class!!
Professor Sarah is one of the best professors I have had. She is truly cares about her students and their growth. She wants students to learn, improve, and believe in their abilities. she meets you with guidance, encouragement, and support. Her class requires work and responsibility, but it is very manageable and rewarding because she prepares you.
Professor sarah is one of the best instructors I have had. She is very supportive; clear with expectations and truly cares about student success. Her feedback is encouraging me to success this class and she take time to explain assignments in a way that makes college expectations easier to understand. if you put in the effort, you learn a lot.
Her teaching style is different but i enjoyed it! The work will pile up though if you wait but she literally gives us so much time and opportunities to get it done properly and accurately
Was a wonderful teacher I would 100% take again! The requirements are super clear and if you have any problems where you can't give it your 100% at that time just email her through canvas and you will get a nice and caring message back. I had the feeling that she really wanted to see her students pass and do great! Thank you again Sarah Sullivan
