She puts your notes online, which helps a lot. A hard class, but also expected. Very clear with her explanations.
The best Science teacher that I ever had. I was dreading this class, now I love it.
Hard class because of all the material it covers. She will answer any questions you have in class. She seems nice. Her exams are impossible and questions could have more than one correct answer. Questions on exams are not worded well at all. You could have worse though.
Great Biology teacher.
she is very helpful but you have to understand you MUST study for the class! if you are not interested in this stuff, you must pretend you are in order to really understand and get a good grade. don't drop it cuz its at 7:45 or too much material. you'll congratulate yourself in the end!
Sarah Vash is very funny and makes class interesting. Her tests are on the notes only, so I never even read the text and still got a good grade. She's adorable, take her!
First, let me say that Sarah is VERY friendly. She will help you out as much as she can. However, I had to take this class twice. She doesn't give a review sheet before an exam... Which is OK, but she makes the exams seem easier than they really are. The exams are VERY difficult. The SI study sessions are very helpful, and I highly recommend.
nice teacher, but this class covers an insane amount of material!!! You have to keep up and study constantly or else!! Tests are very hard!

The only way you could really hate this class is if you don't keep up with your studying. You can't wait until the exam is on the horizon before you start to study. Sarah is fun and friendly enough to keep you awake at 7:45 am. As long as you are willing to try, you'll do alright
Sarah is a very good teacher. She always makes sure that no one has questions before she moves on. Very good.
Sarah is a very good teacher, she will answer any questions for you and is so helpful if you go in during her office hours. Her class is hard because of all the material it covers, but the test are easy if you study a little each day... and the lab is a breeze. Don't stress over the midterms they aren't as horrible as everyone says.
Sarah is the BEST science teacher I have ever had... I could not ask for a better professor at 7:45 in the morning. Her test are hard, and there is a lot of information covered... especially between the 2nd and 3rd tests.... Best advice is go ever your notes each night, that way when you go to start studying it isn't as hard!
SARAH IS A GREAT TEACHER. SHE IS VERY NICE AND SHE MAKES CLASS AS INTERESTING AS SHE CAN. I WOULD TELL ANYONE TAKING HUMAN BIO TO TAKE IT WITH HER.
She is a great teacher. i would recommend her. She makes class interesting and fun considering it is at 7:45 in the morning.
Sarah is an amazing teacher, she jokes and keeps you awake considering it is at 7:45...i definetly recommend her and trust me you wont be sorry to take her!! she is awesome..alot of info though but she makes it fun and pretty easy!! :)
Great instructor! She'll take time with you after class to answer any questions about the material or even any other questions you may have about the human body. She is knowledgeable and passionate about her area of expertise. Her tests are pretty easy if you come to class. Don't miss class or you won't do well. Take Sarah, she rocks!
Her personality helps with the class. She makes a handbook to go with the lectures which make a huge difference. The tests are hard butonly because they cover so much information. If you keep up with the studying and come to class you can get an A.
she is so very nice. i took the class over the summer. she had a note book for us which was comprised of her slides and all we had to do were fill in some of the blanks. the tests weren't too hard but you need to study.
This class covers alot but is not hard. So don't worry if you hate science. She's very clear but her tests cover alot of material. So start studying a week early just so you have a chance to go over everything. The class is a large lecture, BUT she doesn't care if you ask a question or 2.
great professor, extremely nice & helpful outside of class. Lectures are clear and the SI sessions are recommended. She's also pretty hot.
This is not a class to slack off in. Sarah is an AMAZING teacher and she teaches soo well. makes everything very interesting and makes the class way easier than it could be. she gives all the notes out and then u just have to fill them in. Tests come straight from the notes, but theres ALOT of info. She does her best to make u pass.
This class is an EASY A-and it's upper level. She explains things very well and it's simple to understand concepts the first time through. Still she lets random students take up time by asking the most idiotic questions--most profs will tell students to save their questions until after class. Draws pictures on overheads instead of using diagrams.
She is a wonderful teacher who isn't afraid to be animated. I Would recommend her to all my friends. I plan to take her courses until I graduate. Very good prof.
This class is HARD!! Do not let anyone else tell you otherwise. READ THE BOOk-it helps b/c her notes are fragmented and the book put the big picture together. You will become extremely stressed from this class...it weeds out those who don't want to persue nursing or biology.
She is one of the best I have had here at Kent State. She explains the material very well and will always give you help; she is very approachable. Although, sometimes, she can move a little quickly. I wouldn't mind some one on one anatomy lessons with her, lol.
Excellent teacher. very good lecture notes and very helpful. definately need to read the book. tests difficult, but fair.
She's relatively nice, but the tests were very difficult. She mentioned to focus on the main topics covered but test questions very specific.
This is a tough class. My advice is to not memorize note cards. Learn how all of the information fits together and the tests will be much easier for you. I did not have a book, BIG MISTAKE. You should at least read the chapters she's going to discuss the day before so you won't fall behind. Sit up front and don't be distracted.
She was an awesome teacher! She gives you a book of pre-typed class notes, but there are blanks where you have to fill in stuff - so you still have to go to class. I would def. have her again in another class if I can.
Tests were very difficult
Very Nice Teacher...But exams are very difficult. The questions are very specific and come from solely the notes.
she doesn't really elaborate on the subject matter, just focuses on reading and filling in the lecture notes booklet. Tests are very difficult. She says if you focus on the main concepts you'll be fine, put her test questions are very picky.
Vash was an amazing prof.! Her tests are straight from the fill-in notebook you purchase. Her exams are cake if you actually study all the material from the notebook! The only reason people don't do well in this class is because they don't want to take the time to study!
Sarah is a wonderful teacher!! She always says to visit her office hours if anyone needs help. Draws a lot on the overhead! Explains things in great detail.
She's wonderful, BUT, her tests are impossible. The study guides and practice tests are useless. Her tests are very detail oriented and they have a LOT of A and C are correct kind of answers. It's a pain but she's very good at what she does.
It is very important to attend class! It is required to study every day! This is not a slacker class.
the class is difficult if you do not study!! if u prepare yourself the week before the test you will do fine! there is no way u can do well in here by cramming. I love this class even though it was very time consuming and a lot of memorization. I never once used the book. Its kind of a waste
LOVE HER!!! She is an amazing teacher. She gets excited about what she's teaching and you can tell she really loves it, which helps when you're in class that early. Go to class and study. Don't bother with the book. I never opened mine and all you need is in your notes.
DO NOT BUY THE BOOK!! Save yourself 100 bucks! Sarah is a really good teacher but you have to attend class everyday! Make sure you study all of the materials for the test because almost everything is on it!! She makes it interesting though!
Favorite prof at Kent! Great explanations and formats her lectures really well so that you can write good notes. You have to go to class though! Don't bother with the book. I never used it. Go to class and take notes and you will do well! She covers a lot of info though so study for the test earlier than the night before.
Great. teacher. You HAVE to study and HAVE to attend class. Shes a great teacher, but there's a LOT to memorize in such a short time. The studyguide will be your bible. Study hard and go to class and you'll do fine. (You may not need to buy the book but if pictures help you, DEFINITELY buy it..helped me)
She knows what she is talking about. The lectures are pretty good.Well, she isnt hard on the eyes so it makes the lectures a little more easy to sit through
Great teacher, had her for the LER human bio...all notes come from lecture and I didn't open my book once!
She'll answer any questions you have, and does a good job at explaining to material in simpler terms. Everything is straight out of the notes! Go to at least 1 or 2 SI sessions, too, especially around exam time! I did and my exam grades improved from a C - to an A!!
Good professor. I would recommend a record to record the lectures as there is alot of material to go over in a very short time period. I think th BIO department should consider splitting the class. Its A&P 1&2 in a one semester 5 credit hour class. It just sets you up for failure.
Shes awesome at explaining things, its a crap load of material in one semester but she does her best to slow down and explain each process, i adore her, i couldn't have gotten a better teacher for this class.
understands concepts well.
when i had her 5 years ago she was absolutely awful. My memories of her are all horrible. Im in med school now and i was struggling in her foundations class? really? she is bad!
Her class is extremely hard. Seh is really nice, but if you dont want to do a million hours of studying, dont take her class. DONT buy the book. Pointless. Her tests dont really make sense, but she is nice.
Never used the book but went to every class. Stay on top og material cuz class is kinda hard
For Bio20020, like another person said, DON"T BUY THE TEXTBOOK, unless you really really want too. All exams are based on lecture material...Exams are EXTREMELY tough - just about all exams have come with a curve - however you can gets A's- just study A LOT!!!
Had her for S&F, and she was a GREAT teacher. You buy a notebook that has fill in the blank notes, so it's really easy to actually listen to her. If you go to class everyday you will do well in her class. Test are kinda difficult, but as long as you know everything in the notes you will pass, it's not impossible. Just study... it's that simple.
Very difficult class. If you don't have a passion for Science/Biology, do not take her class. Tests are difficult, she goes over a ton of material too fast, and she doesn't explain things well at all. I think to get an A you'd have to devote the majority of all your time. Look for another professor to take.
It's a tough, tough class - but this is University, not High School. She does a terrific job in putting across a vast amount of information. Very helpful and an engaging lecturer. Don't bother with the textbook though. Attendance isn't mandatory but it may as well be - go to ALL the lectures, study hard and you'll be fine. You'll EARN your grade.
Sarah is a GREAT teacher and I learned SO much from her. Structure is a hard class, but you'll do fine if you study and attend class everyday. She gives you all of the class notes in a binder that you have to pay $10 for, but she relates every topic and is really helpful if you go see her. Totally recommend her!
All issues are black and white with professor Vash. Warning! Not accommodating to working students. If you can't attend class then you can't pass regardless if the know the material well enough to ace the tests!
S&F is a hard class, but Sarah makes it a lot easier with the help of her class notes and good explanations, she sometimes throws in a wild story that will really help you remember the topic. She is a very helpful teacher and always has a good attitude.
She is a wonderful teacher. Yes the material is hard what would you expect? You need to go so class! And def. attend s.i. for this class. and you will be okay.
This teacher is amazing. She expalins things perfectly. If you have a question she stops class to answer you. Before every exam she has a review session where she answers any questions you have about the material. There are SI sessions to help on material. She really understands what she is teaching. Once in a while she will throw in a crazy story.
VERY hard class..studying will definitely pay off! memorize everything from the notes and just keep going over them every single day..its tough but you will survive, i did!
Structure and Function: I started studying 10 days before every exam, and it paid off. Don't let these people scare you though. The class is NOT hard...it's just time consuming. Sarah Vash is an amazing prof. She explains things well, tells stories, and gets excited about teaching. Go to class! Don't buy the book! Study Hard! You'll be fine =]
great teacher. class has a lot of material and you need to study a lot to do good
Sarah Vash is a great professor and obviously knows her stuff. I had her for Structure and Function. It was a very, very tough class but she makes it easy to understand.
I absolutely love Sarah Vash. She is the funniest teacher I've ever had. She does an excellent job explaining everything she does. Don't be afraid to use her as a resource she is very helpful. Go to class everyday and try to go to SI it really helps. Stay on top of each lecture and you'll have no problem getting an A in the class. =)Go Sarah!
She's very nice & very helpful. Also she's really into what she's teaching and likes to keep it interesting. She posts her power points online & I recommend printing them out before class and taking your notes on them because she moves through slides rather quickly. You don't need to buy the book! I didn't open it once.
Sarah is an excellent teacher. She has a very good understanding of the material and sincerely wishes her students to do well. Her exams are straight from her class notes, which she provides as an alternative to the textbook. Opportunity for extra credit is given as bonus questions on exams. It would be difficult to do poorly if you put in effort.
Sarah Vash is wonderful. Her classes are that boring and she is straight forward. She gives you everything you will need to know for the tests and her tests are easy. She wants everyone in the class to do well. There is also chances for extra credit and other points outside the tests.
I seriously love Sarah Vash! I'm currently failing her class but I love her. She is hard, and it sucks that her Structure and Function class is so early but she is an AMAZING teacher. She knows what she is talking about and is fun to listen to. I wish she was my teacher for everything! Luckily I'm retaking the class so I get to see her again!
I love Sarah Vash! Her class is very challenging, but if you put in the effort, her tests are easy as pie! Study every day, even if it's just for a half hour. Waking up early SUCKS, but she tries to make things better. DO NOT BUY THE BOOK, I REPEAT, DO NOT BY THE BOOK. I am getting an A in the class and I am only using her class notes!
Sarah Vash rocks at her job
Best professor on campus. She will meet with you to explain anything, she e-mails you animations to further explain whatever seems confusing to the class. She gives you exactly what is on the exams which is so nice. It's a really hard class, but if you study what she gives you, an "A" is very realistic.
Only good thing about Vash is her sense of humor. Any prof. who won't round up a 78.9% has no soul, worked my heart out. Smart ppl like Vash don't understand the struggle. Let's try to cram in as much as possible in short amount of time- this doesn't allow u to enjoy class. SI leaders explained stuff better in a lot of cases.
One of the best teacher's I have ever had. You have to go to class and the lectures will start to make sense. Also make sure you study, but if you had to pick GOING TO CLASS WILL GET YOU A GOOD GRADE.
she is a great teacher, and makes things really easy to learn. go to class and study the material youll get the grade you want!!
As long as you show up to class, you'll be fine. She gives extra credit if necessary. She makes the material easy to understand. I would take her Structure and Function class if it wasn't offered so early in the morning.
Great Professor!!! SHe knows what she is talking about and she is knows how to teach it to you, Human Biology with Sarah Vash is one of the best professors that Kent state has. Her tests are very factual and goes along very well with the lecture material. You dont NEED to buy the book, but it was a great tool to have for extra clarity :) Thank you!
go to all the classes, get a study buddy, go to SI and you'll be fine.
Study your lecture notes frequently-that is where her test questions come from. It is a lot of material so plan ahead. Some of the diagrams she used confused me, but others were helpful. To get an A in S&F you need to study your notes A LOT. It is a stressful class but everyone should be able to get an A or a B if you try! I would have her again.
Awesome teacher! Her tests are straight from the lecture notes.. which if you attend class your lecture notes will be perfect. Definitely would recommend taking any class with her.
This professor is awesome, she is really interested in what she's teaching and you can tell that she loves it. If you ask her a question and she doesnt know the answer, you can be sure that she will have figured it out by next class! loved the class. Make sure you attend class and pay attention and you'll be fine.
I loved Sarah Vash. She makes the class interesting by making funny jokes here and there. It keeps you paying attention especially when you have to wake up at 7. Tests are pretty straight forward from the lectures. She was a great professor to have, I learned so much from her.
She is great, loved her. take her over shilling for sure! The class is hard, but she is a good teacher for it.
Really easy. The exam is exactly what is on the powerpoints. Don't buy the book, it's all in her presentations. Super nice and helpful.
Sarah was a very good professor. Made learning about the subject fun. The only downside is that her exams can be fairly tricky. Just make sure you study A LOT! Take her over Shilling for sure!
Sarah Vash is an excellent professor! Structure and Function is typically an extremely difficult class, but her lecture are extremely clear and well organized. She is very approachable and extremely willing to help any student who asks for it. I highly recommend her.
S&F: Hard class if you don't put in the time. But I found it to be extremely easy because I studied one lecture a day (I got an A) Her class notes are excellant & are great to keep. The textbook is not necessary-I only used it for connect & that code can be bought online. Do all connect activities because they are easy points!
It's not "difficult"- it just a lot of material and it takes a LOT of time outside of class to study. Sarah Vash is an EXCELLENT professor. She makes the material fun and easy to understand. DO NOT buy the book- you won't need it. Just study the notes inside and out and you will get the grade you want. highly recommended! :)
She is a wonderful lecturer, and a very animated speaker. Her use of pictures made undertanding the material a breeze. I do suggest picking up the book, but if you don't skip class you likely will not need it.
Pretty easy class as long as you study. DO NOT BUY THE BOOK FOR HUMAN BIO. You won't ever open it. The notes are all online but she adds additional stuff when you attend class. But she is very nice. She has clicker questions so those can be helpful easy points. You get 1 point just for being there, 1 for answering correctly. I recommend her.
It's a hard class and you really have to dedicate your time and effort to pass this class. Sarah explains everything clearly and she gives examples that are relatable and easy to remember. It a big help that she makes a copy of her own notes, all you have to do is fill some blanks and draw examples. You won't regret taking her class.
Professor is very nice and teaches well. She explains things thoroughly. However, the class is not an easy class, you have to constantly study
She is a really good professor. She is very animated and that really helps. This is not an easy class so you have to keep up. The SI sessions are also really helpful if you can go. The exams are directly from the class notes that she made herself. If you are a nursing major you will need this class so take her!!
GO TO CLASS! Her tests are hard but do good in lab and connect and you'll do fine.
Going to class is important if you want an A, because of all the material. Great professor! Provides outlines to notes so you don't have to write down everything. Uses lots of figures and videos; good for visual learners. Few bonus points and extra credit opportunities are offered too.
Hands down the best teacher I have ever had. Her tests are hard, but attending class helps a lot. She is very interactive with her students and you can tell she really enjoys what she does. I highly recommend her.
I LOVE HER!!!!! OMG LOVE HER
Took this over Summer 2013 in 5 weeks. Lots of material, had to study hard. Prof. was always prompt to reply via email to my questions & she's VERY organize.
Best prof my freshman year. She's very smart but dumbs stuff down if needed. Explains material well. Buy her notes @ bookstore- she uses them every day and makes a lot of diagrams that make everything easier to understand. Didn't use book much. Tests can be tricky. Do connect and study for lab- easy ways to boost up a letter grade
I loved this class the course material is so interesting! Its not hard to get a B/C, but if you're prenursing and you need an A, you have to work very hard! Professor Vash is wonderful, and makes the class so enjoyable, and she is so organized. Honestly if you do all your connects, and do well in lab you should be fine!
Professor Vash is one of my favorite professors at Kent State. She is fun and always happy to be in class. She's high energy and shows a true passion for both the subject and for teaching. She sells her class notes at the bookstore, so it's easy to follow along in lecture. Exams require a lot of studying, but if you put the time in, you'll do well
I loved Sarah. She knows a great deal about the subject & eally gets excited about what shes teaching. I didnt use the book AT ALL. She gives you everything you need in the class notes that you buy at the book store. I went through my notes every day & thats what got me an A. Its required to do connect assignments but they didnt help me w/ the test
Professor Vash was very helpful, but she taught many unnecessary things and went too far into detail and I didn't realize until other professors in the same subject told me and others. They said she teaches at a doctoral level.
Sarah Vash is a very smart lady. As for the class, it is very difficult. Structure and Function is A & P 1 and 2 in one semester, so it is a lot of information in a short amount of time. If you are prenursing and need an A, you are going to have to dedicate a lot of time to this class. The tests are very difficult.
She speeds through lectures. Tests are over way to much content, no extra credit options. Studying is a must, and even with studying for hours, I still can't get a B or higher on a test.
Very knowledgable teacher, but expects you to know and memorize everything she says. Goes into way too much detail and tests are really hard. Good luck.
Sarah Vash is one of the best professors you may ever have. Is the material difficult? Of course. But the way she teaches is amazing. The course notes are PERFECT. As she teaches she uses figures, creates hand-made pictures and uses great examples to make it easier. Don't purchase the textbook, just the connect code and the course notes. I love her
Professor Vash is an amazing teacher. You have to show up to class, but when you do she makes everything a little bit easier to understand. She's really nice and funny and willing to help. It is a challenging class but I would only take it again with her as a professor.
I can't say enough about how much I love professor Vash! She is so nice and really just wants to see you achieve your highest potential! You must know the class notes she sells at the bookstore in and out though for the tests and she makes everything much clearer in lecture so you must go! Wish she would have taught all my classes!
She is an awesome professor. She knows how to teach clearly and very well. Extremely knowledgeable and always willing to help. Her class notes from the bookstore are the best thing ever. You have to go to class to understand, she makes tons of helpful diagrams. You won't pass if you don't study hard. So worth taking her for structure and function!
Anybody who says her tests are tough just don't care enough about the class. If you're taking her you're most likely a nursing major. As long as you understand what's in the class notes, easy A. Lowest grade i have received on lecture test is 97%. Keep in mind that their is a lab section to this class as well (also extremely easy). know the notes:)
Vash is a great professor and person. But this class is very tough, just take great notes and study a lot for the exams.
Professor Vash! She was great, suuuper nice but a very tough tester (not surprising, though, because this is a weed-out class). She's incredibly in-depth, and sometimes she'll draw things out or focus on the small important things, but overall I really enjoyed her class and would recommend her to anyone who has to take this course.
I absolutely LOVE professor Vash for A&P. I never took A&P in high school but honestly it didn't really matter. She is an awesome teacher and as long as you study her class notes thoroughly and pay attention to her lecture the tests are not as bad as everyone says. Professor Vash is your best bet for getting into the Kent State nursing program.
glad I completed this class whatever you do try your hardest not to take any of her classes every time i came to her for any office hour help she would rush me out like within 3 minutes How are students supposed to learn if we constantly get pushed away from professors that obviously give to much work to prepare for on exams she was ridiculous
Sarah did not care about her students. She was rude when I attended office hour and does not care how well you do in her class. Her tests are nearly impossible to pass. I have never taken harder tests in my life. Her study guides are a joke and the final is cumulative. DO NOT recommend taking this class or any class with her.
Super hard exams, there is limited extra credit so take advantage of it if you can. She is petty af and does take any excuses for assignments or missed exams. Study the notes from her class notes, ignore the book
I had Sarah for Anatomy and Physiology I. She was an overall sweet person, but she spoke very soft and sometimes made it hard to hear. Also, her tests can be very difficult and go really in depth, and if you do not attend class you will not pass.
Vash is the best prof. for A&P1! I won't lie though, if you skip class, you won't get an A. The lecture is quick and material can be hard to understand. It gets harder each test. If you don't put in the work, studying, office hours, and effort, don't expect a good grade. Nursing is hard, this class is just the beginning. Ask for help, get a tutor!
She is better than the standard biological instructor, however she composes test in a very tricky way. Do more than study the material, know it like the back of your hand. Know every word in your notes because she will use every word and a difference in words will make all the difference on her exams.
Must attend class to do well! She makes the info easy to understand. Ask questions if you need to. She provides class notes which are extremely helpful, I studied straight from her notes, plus the notes I added from lectures, and never scored below a B on exams. For homework assignments repeat attempts to score 100%, these are easy points!
Sarah was was a really good professor that definitely knew her stuff and is willing to help students. I liked her class, but found it hard just because of the material. If you study her notes and prepare for the tests you will do fine. Attendance isn't mandatory, but I am not sure how I would've passed if I didn't show up.
Sarah's course was very tough for me. Going to her office hours weren't helpful at all. Very nonchalant attitude outside of lecture. Soft spoken in lectures and moves pretty fast. I ended up with a B in the course but I've never had to work so hard for just a B in my life. The "study guides" for her exam aren't helpful at all.. Don't even bother.
Extremely soft spoken during lecture. Moves really fast through a lot of topics that are difficult to understand. Hard to follow along and keep up. Office hours arent helpful at all. Avoid by all means necessary!!!
Do NOT take her online class. The homework is fine. However, you have to teach it to yourself. Her exams are another thing entirely. You haven't been taught anything so you have to study a bunch. Also, do not expect help from the internet.
Her tests are so hard. I went to every class and still barely passed. We didn't have a SI leader for the class. She is very bland and doesn't give examples to help you remember information. You got clicker quizzes for more points but it barely helped. Late lab grade is what allowed me to pass the class.
I love Vash and all of her tests are very straight forward from the notes. just make sure you read the notes she gives you, draw everything she does, ask questions because shes more than happy to take time from lecture to explain something, and GO TO CLASS. I want more classes taught by her. Explains everything very well
Sarah Vash is a great professor! I had another professor for A&P 1 and switched to her for A&P 2 and it was the best choice I could've made. Everything is clear for you in the notes. Memorize the notes and be able to apply it to situations and to think beyond the basic definition. Great class and fairly easy if you study.
she didn't care about her students succeeding in her class. she is not a very understanding person. she also is the hardest test maker, she makes everything seem to have two of the right answers when theres obviously one. she never answers a question fully, she leaves you questioning what she just said.
I have taken a lot of science courses and this was one of my favorite. The class was a lot of work but the material is hard. Sarah doesn't make you buy the book and has class notes for sale in the book store for $12 that she follows exactly. Study and understand the concepts and you will be fine. She does a good job of being upbeat and interesting.
I loved her for Anatomy & Physiology 1. The course packet that is required is so helpful. Her exam questions come straight from the notes but some of the questions are tricky and require critical thinking. She really loves Anatomy and you can tell that by the way she presents in lecture. Go to class and participate in clicker quizzes!
Sarah is really great. She is completely open to questions and is very enthusiastic about the material. She has class notes that she follows perfectly (only tests over notes) and even adds drawings to make it easier to learn. She does give "clicker quizzes" every couple classes to check attendance so make sure you go to class to receive points.
This professor is okay but challenging. She goes through the notes and writes exactly what you should write which helps you know what to study. She gives like 30 pages of notes and the tests are only 30 questions, so it makes it hard to study but if you work for it you can do it!
She makes a packet of class notes that she bases the entire class around which is really nice for taking her tests. Unfortunately you do have to buy the notes from the bookstore. Overall awesome professor though. Read the notes and go to class and you'll be fine.
I had her for Anatomy 2 and she was super nice but very tough. Her exams are 30 questions and are very hard! She expects you to know 30 pages of notes for every exam! She gives you a study guide but it contains every thing on every page of the notes. She does have very good notes made by herself!
I took Anatomy & Physiology with Sarah this past semester and man.. that class was A LOT of work. The lectures are long and the material can get kind of boring but pay attention!!! The tests are kind of difficult and be prepared to apply the material to real life. I started the semester with a C- and ended with an A.
Tests are 60 points with each question being worth 2 points so it makes it more challenging in that regard. Sarah does a great job at explaining by using pictures to help the visual learners. Buy the notes from the bookstore, take lab seriously,go to class. The clicker may seem pointless in the beginning but you'll get some extra points. STUDY!
Sarah Vash was a decent professor. When I came to her about my grades, she was helpful and hopeful. Lectures were sometimes boring but clicker quizzes were given for "attendance" & points which helps. Tests are based off of notes taken in class, so DEFINITELY go. Test are 30 questions, 60 points total over a lot of material. Study, go to SI!
Vash was an excellent teacher. $375 Textbook absolutely not necessary, if you study the class notes and actually learn the material instead of just memorizing you will do great. Tests are pretty hard due to the application questions, but once again try to actually learn the material. Don't skip class and don't wait until last minute to study!
Lectures are awesome and enjoyed going to class but tests are very difficult. Go to class and study every single detail of the notes. She always includes visuals in class and has everything written out in the notes. If you try to ask questions she will just tell you to look at the notes. You're better off looking up a youtube video for help.
Tests are extremely hard, went to her for help and she told me just to drop the class
Her "study guides" did nothing. It was everything. You would go through and realize it's all the notes summarized. You must know everything in depth. She does clicker questions so make sure you always have it. I was always in class and one day my clicker would not work so she would not give me participation points because it was not her problem.
I thought Vash was an awesome professor and really prepared me for the Nursing program at Kent. She gives awesome, detailed lectures and gives you everything you need to succeed on tests. Some people would disagree because her tests can be tricky, but if you study the notes thoroughly, doing well shouldn't be an issue.
Sarah is extremely knowledgeable of the content she teaches. Her class notes help so much and not having to buy the text book is really cool too. Her tests can be tricky, but Anatomy is tricky. I've learned so much from her and am taking for A&P 2 currently.
I wish her exams were formatted differently, but her optimism is so encouraging I took the class second semester. She looooooves her job and loves to help you no matter what. Sweetest lady! Definitely could go to her for anything. She also creates analogies and dances to help get her point across. Love her
I don't know how to explain it, but her tests were so simple that they were hard. Take her over Greg fo sho. She teaches in a very unique way to help you maintain knowledge, not just memorize for a test.
Professor Vash is a great teacher to take A & P with! The class is tough and the shorter summer version is fast-paced, but I really enjoyed her lectures. She is very accessible outside of class and tests follow the material very well. Her notes are great and I felt like I learned a lot from this class. If you can take her A & P class, do!
Prof. Vash is awesome! While the material is challenging, she really cares about making sure each student understands the content. If you're confused, definitely ask questions! She will stop lecture to explain the concept in a different way until you understand! Take A&P with Vash if possible!
Great professor! Cares about her students and offers feedback. The class was definitely a lot of work, but it was not that bad because it was fun to me. I learned a lot about the human body. Since this was an online class, I was worried about not being able to ask questions, but Sarah responded to my emails and answered any question I had.
really enjoy the way she gives notes in A&P 2
notes are disorganized and she jumps around a lot when teaching. very fast paced and not thorough in explaining concepts... nice and understanding and easily accessible in office hours
I absolutely hated the way her bio foundations class was taught. She gives very general, undetailed notes but the tests are always very specific and detailed. I found half way through that it really helps to read the textbook because it actually helps you understand the material. This class is a lot of work to remember material for the exams
She's rude and not helpful. Overall, avoid if you can!
Professor Vash is a solid choice for an AP2 teacher. Her lectures weren't the most exciting things, but her tests are the notes exactly. She posts study guides, which condense everything and make studying for her tests a lot less rough. The class is challenging, but if you actually go there should be no issue. Overall, a really great professor.
If you're a visual learner, like myself, you'll find the diagrams she draws out with the class (like the box heart!) to be especially helpful. Her study guides did a good job phrasing questions to get you thinking in the way her tests are written (more application than rote memorization of terms). Overall, I really enjoyed Prof Vash's A&PII course.
Professor Vash is a very clear speaker, and I thought she was respectful to students. I thought her lectures were good, and it was helpful to attend them. She sounds kind and is great at teaching.
Sarah Vash is the most unprofessional professor I have ever had the unfortunate honor to be my professor. She is unreasonable and is not willing to work with you work on your academic development in the class.
As someone who hasn't taken a biology class in college yet, this class is beyond frustrating. She breezes through material very quickly, her homework (which is clearly not for her class) is immensely difficult, yet her tests are surprisingly easy. In order to keep up I had to master every lesson once I got home and it was incredibly stressful.
Biological Foundations has been anything but pleasant. she says all of her exam questions come right from the notes, but then goes over the "most missed questions" and proceeds to say that it wasn't in our notes but we should know it. She breezes through the material but is also too detailed for a bio foundations class. Labs are very unorganized.
Her class is not hard if you keep up with the material. I got over 100% in some of the tests and didn't really try that hard. However, she is not helpful during office hours and every time I asked a question I felt like I was bothering her precious time. I do not like her personality, but her class is organized. 5/10 would not recommend
she's great
She gives you note modules which are always upwards of 15 pages. With all of this information, it makes it hard to study and she doesn't hint at what will be on the exam. If you don't memorize the right things, you're screwed. Making exams 40 questions total screws you over, there's such a small margin for error. Wouldn't recommend her.
Very bad professor. Does not know how to explain concepts and she makes them more confusing than they should be. There's no point in going to her lecture because she gives you all the unnecessary notes but you have to go because of clickers every single day. Her exams do not correlate with the notes so you have to be a biological genius to do well.
UNBELIEVABLE. Out of all of my professors this one is the worst. To all who are reading this ahead of time deciding whether to take this professor or not, just save yourself from all of the stress and depression and don't take her. Her exams contain only about 50% of what is actually on the exam and she confuses you even more when you ask Qs.
She is not a good professor. Instead of . "lecturing" she asks us questions the entire time about material that she should be explaining and then gets sassy when no one wants to shout the answer out at 8 am. avoid her at all costs. Exams are difficult. Class averages for the exams are usually a D
Exams are extremely difficult. She is not good at explaining concepts and she is very sassy. She gives no extra credit period and your entire class grade is mostly just from the exams.
Great professor, however if you dont go to class you wont pass. You have to study for the grade you want. She has clicker questions that accumulate for points and is basically your attendance but you dont have to go. Just know that they are points.
Sarah Vash was quite possibly the worst professor Ive had at Kent State. She is not helpful at all and makes the course harder than it should be. She would say that theres no study guides because its a guide, but thats the whole point of a study guide. Wasnt any help during exams. Avoid her at all costs, genuinely the worst Professor.
I did not attend a single class for BSCI as I had already taken the class above it. I had to retake the class for my graduate school. Receiving a 0 on the mandatory clicker questions but taking the exams with a basic knowledge of biology and passed.
I live 50 min away from Kent and slid off of the road while driving there, but bad weather conditions apparently isnt a valid excuse to miss an exam, so I got 20% taken off of my grade for that exam. Just make sure you dont miss exams and STUDY, if you dont study youre basically screwed. Other than that shes a nice lady :)
She's sassy and explains things really fast. She doesn't make an effort to help out if you're struggling. However, I'd take her again. I got over 100% in her class because I studied my %% off. I'm glad I took it with her though because I've learned a lot and upper level bio classes are easy in comparison. She's good, but take it at your own risk.
Sarah is great if you can take her instead of taking Tinkler TAKE HER! She gives guided notes and study guides for each test, except the final which is cumulative. But, as long as you use the three previous study guides you should be fine. She does offer extra credit, she uses clickers in class, every class. Also very quick to help.
great teacher, makes diagrams in order to help you learn the material better. great at explaining and really nice
she gives no study guides whatsoever because the notes are "guided enough." We crossed out half of the notes. She goes really slow on the basic stuff and super fast on the not so basic stuff. Her exams are harder than they need to be, and the clicker questions are annoying. She requires the book for homeworks but doesn't follow it.
Study your butt off and you may get a B - mainly because she curves the grades of each test, otherwise they are D averages. She doesn't mark anything important and usually focuses on things that won't be on the test, so good luck.
I had Professor Vash for A&P II two years ago. Yes, the class was a lot of work, but I'm glad I put the time in then because now I have amazing, detailed notes & diagrams to reference for my nursing classes. She is an amazing professor, I wish she taught for the College of Nursing.
Do not take her if you dont have to. She doesnt really care about her students grades at all, even if the test averages are super low, meaning a large amount of the class failed, she wont curve the test. She doesnt give extra credit. The tests are super hard, even for a student like me who goes over the modules heavily.
Sarah Vash has to be one of the worst professors in the biology department. She gives notes that do not help at all and she seems to only go over them and not explain them. Test questions dont make sense half the time and she doesnt seem to care about her students and how well they preform. Avoid at all costs
Long note packets, so much information that its nearly impossible to remember the small details that her tests cover. Takes points for clicker questions, so if you skip class youll be missing out on a lot. Difficult tests, and little to no extra credit. Avoid if possible.
Dr. Vash is an extremely good professor. Her exams are straight from the guided notes just make sure you study those. She does visuals along with the notes. She does clicker questions that are participation points that help your grade a lot. She also gives at least 2 bonus questions on each exam. She is well organized, very thorough, and very nice.
I took the honors version of this course and she made it so difficult. The difference between honors and the regular course is ridiculous. She made their exams so that they had to know the bare minimum concepts within the notes but the honors exams were straight out of thin air!!!!!
Professor Vash is a very good professor. She gives whole chapter notes and goes thoroughly over them. Study these and quizlets and the tests should not be very hard. Daily clicker questions for points make attendance pretty much mandatory. Review the note packets and go to class. Very approachable and wants her students to succeed.
Vash was definitely a tough cookie to get through if you take the honors section of bio foundations. Sometimes the extended response questions seem to come from nowhere, or from something we never talked about in the lecture, at least. Either way, her notes are extremely detailed and she goes through several ways for you to remember them.
gives you a billion pages of notes but literally does not read from them at all, just adds to them. explains really simple concepts like a 4th grade teacher but assumes you have an understanding of the higher level information. kinda boring
Sarah is great at explaining concepts. However, the tests frequently ask questions that were not covered in the notes or lectures. If you take this class... go to class to get the attendance points and complete all of the masteringbio assignments - this makes a big difference in the end.
Professor Vash is a good professor if you attend lecture and print out her notes she follows right along in class with them. Tests were somewhat tricky. True passion for what she does would come around and ask if we had questions about material prior to lecture. Attend class clicker points make class pretty much mandatory the points add up.
I took Professor Vash for the honors section of bio foundations and she was so nice and understanding. I took her during a COVID semester so the class was a breeze. The whole class is lectures but shes pretty good at explaining everything. I would definitely take her again.
Took her class asynchronously and it was honestly my favorite of the semester. Lectures are clear & straightforward and the exams come straight from her notes, never any surprises. Usually responds to emails in under an hour. HIghly recommend taking if you can!
Sarah is an amazing choice for AP2. Virtual semester, but her lectures are very clear, she uses tons of diagrams and illustrations, and she makes sure you understand everything clearly. If not, she responds to e-mails within the hour if you have questions. Exams are very fair and easy if you pay attention in lecture
She is a good professor, and for the most part, what is in the lecture is what is on the test. However, on the tests there is application questions on diseases so take extra note on them. This isn't the hardest class, but effort needs to be put in.
Took her for Bio Foundations asynchronously during the pandemic but a good prof anyway. Tests were pretty straightforward, if you just listen to lectures and do hw its an EASY B, and if you read the textbook and spend a little extra time an A is very achievable. Took as a Bio major and I liked her.
thankfully the class was fully online. the exams were open note but the notes didnt really line up with the exams. i would get every answer from the notes and somehow only pull a 70- 80 on the test. never reaches out to students unless its an email before an exam. quizzes are open note but still super hard. not the worst professor
If you want to easily pass bio structure and function take her
Sarah Vash is a great teacher! I took anatomy one with her this semester and she was really caring, but the class itself was pretty difficult and very test heavy.
Study - this class is purely memorization! Attendance matters for lab due to there being weekly quizzes, but you can definitely get away with skipping lecture & getting the notes from someone. Be prepared for tests/quizzes because that's literally the only grades you receive - no extra credit (unlimited attempts on lecture quizzes though).
I did good on 2/3 of the exams she gave our class before we swapped professors. This is honestly an easy class as long as you study (I didn't study for the third exam and that's why I did bad). Content on the exams are exactly what she teaches. Sarah Vash is honestly super nice and you can tell she cares about what she teaches.
Very sweet professor and always takes time during lectures to answer questions. Provides slides and fill-in-the-blank note sheets on canvas. Have to go to office hours to see what test questions you missed. Exams line up with lectures. Would recommend going to lectures to not miss diagrams that she draws, they are helpful for exams/understanding.
Amazing Professor Exams were 40 question and theres 4 of them. Gives study guides, and curves exams. She usually gives out 2 bonus questions. However I worked my but off for this class. The final is also cumulative so study previous modules as well and go to her office hours because it helps a lot. She also uses a lot of diagrams as well.
Prof. Vash made this class so fun and interesting. She really shows how passionate she is about the subject and inspires you to love it too! Lots of notes and diagrams to learn and memorize so do not wait until the last minute to study for an exam!
If you already have a good foundation for Biology you will do well in her class, however she goes over lecture topics quickly and doesn't give very many explanations for the "why's". Labs are mandatory Tests were about 40 questions a piece There is no study guide provided, and to get the notes for lecture you must attend class to fill in the blanks
Do NOT take this as a course unless you absolutely need it, or love biology. Prof is super sweet, but goes very fast and is difficult to keep up. Review day is her getting through review and moving onto notes if the lecture room doesn't prepare enough questions. Test easier than lecture but lecture is VERY hard to keep up with.
Homework was easy tests were hard
If you took AP or any bio in high school you will be fine in this class. Very nice professor but she goes fast and isn't very clear on what we should know for the exams. Probably better off just teaching yourself the material. The lectures weren't very helpful. Exams are 40 questions multiple choice and there is a good amount of homework.
If you are a bio lover, you will do well in this class. She knows what she is teaching but she often goes very fast and doesn't elaborate much on topics. She also gives nothing to go off of for exams, and the final is cumulative. Lots of homework & quizzes, labs are mandatory due to quizzes every week. if you take this class, STUDY STUDY STUDY.
I took this class online and found it very easy. She allows you to take the quizzes and exams as many times as you want before the due date. The only thing she was stricter about was the case studies but they were easy and interesting.
she is a good professor, i had her for AP2 and personally the class isnt my strong suit but she was good at explaining things and making sense. Exams were pretty straightforward, a few extra credit questions at the end. Labs were tough so definetly prepare for them but its only worth 25% of your grade.
Sarah Vash does a great job at teaching this class. This was my second time taking Anatomy 1 and I truly believe the reason I am excelling is because of her. She explains things very well, breaks everything down before explaining, and provides excellent example. Exams are straight forward, no trick questions.
Professor Vash was an amazing professor which assigned work that applied to real-world cases about the human body. Professor Vash had clear grading criteria, with the majority of your grades being the McGraw Hill Connect assignments, which are not very hard. Overall, great professor that was not too overwhelming.
Lab is difficult and most material you have to learn on your own. Lecture is great and Professor Vash is very personable and kind! Lots of memorization but the lecture exams were multiple choice!
This is my second sem having Professor Vash and i love her! She is very personable and accessible outside class. Her classes are difficult but if you put in the work you will pass! Lab is hard due to quizzes every week. Graded on exams, quizzes, and lab only so you have to work for a good grade. Excited to have her for A&P II!
Highly recommend taking this class for a science credit. The class was quite easy and gave a very clear understanding of human biology.
Professor Vash's class is tough, but engaging. The lectures are informative, and she's approachable outside of class. Lab quizzes are challenging, but the unlimited lecture quiz attempts help. Unstuck study ai was a lifesaver for memorizing concepts.
Requires you to critically think on exams and have a deep understanding of the topic. Her exams are tricky but as long as you put in a lot of time into the class you'll be fine. There's not many grades decides lab and exams so one bad exam and you're kinda screwed. As long as you study a lot then you should be fine.
She is a very nice professor, although I think she isn't the best explainer about certain topics and she tends to mumble often. I also hated her exams they are pretty difficult and long. I also think her lectures arent as clear cut as they could be. Expect homework but its not to hard and expect note taking. EXAMS SUCK.
She's really nice and good at teaching in a lecture format. We can raise our hands during lectures and ask her questions on the notes we're taking, or we can wait until after class. She makes follow-along notes in the Foundations class which are really nice especially if you have to miss lecture you can get the notes from someone else no problem.
Vash was awesome! She takes time to make sure everyone knows the content. Although attendance is not mandatory, she goes over a lot during lecture and gives out papers to fill out for different body systems. She is caring and genuine and wants to help out her students.
Had a lot of readings
Yeah, don't take this professor if you don't have to. The syllabus for A&P II is awful. Eight weeks between the module 1 and 2 exam (??), and then she tries to squeeze a module 3 exam AND a cumulative final in the span of the last five days of the course?! Consistently cancels lectures day of. Seems like she's unconfident in what she's teaching.
Although she is very kind and keeps the class engaged, there are many factors that made the class overwhelmingly difficult. My friend and I missed one class due to having to leave early for spring break and she denied us a picture of just a couple pages. We have a lab practical, exam, and final cumulative exam all within SIX DAYS of each other.
While she knows the material well & is very kind, she's EXTREMELY note-heavy. If you miss one lecture, you miss PAGES of notes, & don't try to ask her for what you missed because she'll deny you the notes entirely. She spaces out the first 2 exams, but she gives you 3 weeks between the 2nd & 3rd exams, and 5 days after the 3rd exam is the final.
beware .............
I honestly do not understand the negative reviews, Prof Vash is awesome. She is very lecture heavy, BUT if you go to class, take good notes and STUDY you will be fine. This class is difficult, it is built to challenge students. She is accessible outside of class via email and office hours. I would recommend her over and over again.
Loved this class. For the first time in my life, I was looking forward to learning. A great deal of thought and preparation has gone into these lectures. From following along with note taking to videos and images, Professor Vash was able to rein in this ADHD brain and school hater. I also spent a lot of time outside of class studying.
This has truly been my favorite class at Kent so far. Vash is experienced and delivers lectures proficiently. I looked forward to attending class and would gladly enroll in another anatomy course with her if given the opportunity. The material is challenging but entirely manageable with her notes. Labs also align with lectures, which is helpful.
So easy. Easiest class I have taken at Kent! Basically busy work that you can take a many times as you want to get the highest grade. Most assignments have a check answer button or are graded by participation. Took up like none of my time. Take this class if you need the credit because you wont regret it!
Make exams extremely difficult! Class averages aren't that great in her classes .
Didn't show any grace when I missed an assignment due to her unclear deadlines. Group mates did not post discussion posts. When I asked Ms. Vash what to do, she basically said it was not her problem. Her assignments allowed unlimited attempts. Good grades felt unearned. Exams were incredibly hard and spaced out terribly. Would not recommend.
She speeds through all of her lectures and never focuses on the important material she teaches. Everything she teaches DOES NOT make it to the exam. She will take the smallest detail from a lecture at the beginning of the module and make that the whole exam. The exams are spaced out, unclear, poorly written, and she gives no extra credit.
Ok, so Sarah seems like super bubbly and sweet because she is but her lectures are awful. She gives so much material to study and then the exams have 40 questions and usually cover topics that she breezed by and didn't mention the importance of. She doesn't even post an outline to help study, nor practice Q'S. She has a 10 Q quiz for a grade tho!
Sarah Vash is an amazing teacher, I really like her personality and way of speaking and wish I could take more classes with her. If you have her consider yourself lucky because Ive heard bad things about the other teachers. Vash gives you class notes as well that you fill out in class.
Sarah Vash was a good teacher; the only thing is that attendance is not mandatory since it is a big lecture, but you do not want to miss it. She goes very fast, at least 1-2 units per lecture. I found myself never reading the book, but what she says in class WILL be on the test. Also, the lab was so dumb but easy.
