Very unfair teacher when she cared to show up to class. She acted like she was still stuck in high school, it would be in my best intrest to retake the class from someone else so I could really learn something.
Simon & Garfunkel.
At first I thought that her class was going to be hard, and truthfully it was not easy, but the assignments we did have been very helpful. I have used essays from this class in many other classes! She really wants you to think.
Great teacher. Takes some work, but isn't that why we're here?
I loved this class & learned a ton! She got me excited about school & helped draw out the subjects I'm passionate about. She creates an open and honest class environment. I always felt mutually respected & was free to state and support my views. She's very smart and helps you to think critically. Im better for taking her class.
It's English and we're talking about slavery?
I love Professor Vause! She really is so passionate about English and History. She uses both to teach English terms. You have a lot of homework, but it's more time consuming then hard. I would definitely recommend her.
Very passionate teacher, she is very adamant about what she does. She can be a little condescending but overall very interesting and thought provoking.
One of the best professors I have ever had. Legitimately cares about the class and subject. If you have a problem in her class it is your fault as the student. Would recommend her above any at Weber.
Great teacher, very interesting and enjoyable homework.
She is an amazing teacher! I would tell anyone to take her. you have busy work, but it isnt anything hard. Just stay on top of your homework and you'll get an A for sure.
She was a great teacher! i would definitely recommend her! She creates very interesting discussions and made me think of things i hadn't before. There is quite a few assignments, but they weren't hard. Just do them and you'll get an A. She will work with you on a lot of stuff. Very nice. :)
She is very intersting to listen to. I learned a lot and the assignments were well organized and fun to do.
I LOVED sarah vause. Took her for both 1010 and 2010. Got 100 percent in the class both times. She is a funny engaging teacher who doesn't give busy work. I actually felt like her assignments were meaningful and had some purpose. She is willing to work with you and we usually always got out of class early. I would reccommend her to everybody.
Best professor on campus.
I really liked the class and she had good energy in front of the class. Wasn't that hard of a class as long as you did the work and met the criteria of the assignment.
I admit the class could be structured better. But the homework is relevant and if you do your job and participate in your assignments I just don't see how you can NOT get an A in this class. She's a good teacher and I'd take another class from her for sure.
Sarah was awesome! She is basically a NO BS professor. Come to class, do your work, ask the questions, get the grade YOU want if you put the effort into it. She was willing to meet outside of class time when she was available and wants to help students get the grades they want. I'd 100% take her again, I got an A and she helped me get it. AWESOME!!
She was very helpful with essays. She knows what she is talking about.
Proffessor Vause rocks! She is quite sassy and hilarious. Her class was always intertaining and I enjoyed going to all of them. You have to write small essays but they are relatively easy. No tests. And you have a group assignment that was pretty fun. She likes participation and is very passionate about teaching. I would recommend her to anyone!
Ms. Vause was an excellent teacher! She didn't abuse our time--she gave us an adequte amount of homework, but didn't require us to come to class when it wasn't necessary. As long as you come to class and do the work, you're good! She led fun class discussions and made it enjoyable. I'd take a class from her again!
This was a 7 wk hybrid class. Easy class for both 1010 and 2010. 1010 write a 500 word essay a week, and a few reading assign. Attendance a must! 2010 was a 10 pg report, group debate, and few compare assign's. She gives xtra credit, but most student's don't need. Super easy class to get desired grade. Great class and wonderful professor!
Class is a breeze. Vause is simple and is passionate about teaching. Assignments are all easy although attendance is a must. Highly recommended.
I got an A on all assignments, but was absent for a week because of sickness. She gave me a C+. She didn't care what we as a class thought in discussions, and would argue with our opinions. Not fun to work with, and class material not related very well with what should be taught in English 1010.
She was an okay teacher. Definitely not as supportive to opinions and taught things that could have dealt more with a history class. Easy enough, but even one or two absences can hurt you, no matter the reason. She offended me a bit in some beliefs also, and when I mentioned it to her, she just argued and said she was right.
Class is really easy, if you just go and participate in the discussions. She is really nice.
She has class discussions but also shows you useful writing material. Medium sized reading to do in between classes but it was interesting material. I was in the half semester night class and we would write a 500 word paper each week. It was simple and she gave you topic that you could pick if you can't think of one.
Very easy class. I took the first block summer course. There was a 750 word essay due each week and then a final essay of 1400 words due the last day of class. There are no exams and she is very generous on her grading. Would recommend for 1010 but not for an upper division course. Too easy.
Overall great teacher!
She was a wonderful professor. If you just talked to her, she is always willing to work with you. You don't need to buy textbooks for her. If you do the assignments then you will get a good grade in the class. Fun to listen to also. Great teacher!!
Sarah is awesome! she really helped me alot and is always willing to work with you! If anyone would ever ask me who to take i would say take Sarahs class!
We had only one research paper 10-13 pages (Final), you have all semester to work on it and you focus on it all semester. You don't meet on Fridays, instead submit short easy assignment through canvas. A class debate, piece of cake, class is split in half. Most people get 95% on final research paper, because you meet with her to go over paper.
She was such an easy teacher. You can get this class done in no time. You focus on your final 13 page paper for the whole semester and she gives you assignments that if you do them you get an A. SO EASY!
She is a great professor. The lectures in class were always interesting. My essay's were graded with a lot of care no matter what the topic or opinion was.
I took her hybrid class in spring 2013 for English 1010 and English 2010. I found her very dedicated and very honest to her subject. I got A+ in both her classes. Some people are afraid of taking hybrid classes because of the work load, but with her its very easy. I would recommend you to take her class.
Loved this class and the professor was great. I will definitly try to take another of her classes in the future.
need to go to class every day. She may give you a change to make up your grade.
the class I took, was an college research writing class. I was taken over the summer, and it was a first block, online and in class hybrid (both). She was an excellent and very nice teacher. I would probably say, that she is, the best teacher I've had so far.
I took an partial onlinehybrid class. We didn't meet on Fridays, only Monday and Wednesdays. She is an amazing professor! She loves what she teaches, and she help the students love it too. She thoroughly and thoughtfully checks essays and leaves great comments. By far, my favorite professor.
Honestly, I don't particularly like my professors, but I absolutely enjoyed having Sarah as a teacher. Not only did I show up to every class, but classes that didn't even count, just to hang out and talk. She is young so I feel as if she understands college students very well!
Took both of her accelerated hybrid courses, she is my absolute favorite teacher I have ever had. She is amazing at giving feedback to help you accel in your writing. She offers a lot of extra credit and her lectures are always fun. I give her props for all the stress she is under trying to handle all her classes. You will notice how hard she works
She is an amazing teacher. There is a short assignment due every Friday, but you only have to go to class on Monday and Wednesday. So in total I had to go to class about 8-10 times. All of the assignments lead up to the final research paper, which is 10-13 pages on pretty much any topic you choose. I would definitely recommend her!
The reading was easy, and the assignments were easy. She took FOREVER to grade your assignments. She once took over a month just to grade one assignment for me. She also wasn't helpful answering questions. She gave a vague answer of how to find the answer. Glad the class was easy and I didn't have to depend on her.
Took it as a block class. You write a paper a week, it's extremely easy. If you're into all that "writing can change the world" bs you'll love her. There are no tests. Vause is a really sweet women with a good heart. Miss more than 4 classes in this block class and you'll get an automatic F. No textbook just weekly readings on Canvas.
Oh my heck she is awesome! She takes some getting used to, but she knows SO much about SO much!! I would take a lot of my english classes from her if I could. She is so willing to work with and help you out, and she has lived so much life for being so young! Thoroughly enjoyed this class. Do the reading or you'll be lost, and keep up the journal.
Loved Professor Vause! Easy to get along with, funny, and lively. Had her for the summer semester. Her classes were broken down into units. We weren't required to have the textbook and found the readings online. A weekly journal and groupindividual presentation once in a while. Participation will help you pass!
Professor Vause is probably one of the best instructors I've had in my life. She is very inspiring and really cares about your success. She had us write several papers and gave great feedback on all of them. She requires you to go to the writing center prior to turning in each paper. We read 2 books and part of another. Attendance is MANDATORY.
She is a really good professor. There is not a lot of work if you take the hybrid course. All of the work you do in the class goes towards your final paper. No tests. Final paper only has to be ten pages. Extra credit is offered if you don't do well on another assignment. Class was way easier than I thought it would be. Got an A without revising.
Sarah was probably my favorite professor I've ever had. She was one of the most down to Earth people ever and she used that in her teaching. The books we read were enjoyable to we you actually enjoyed reading them. You also enjoy going to class and getting up no matter how early you have to just cause she is that good.
I took this as the 7 week hybrid course. We met once a week. During our class time we would go over guidelines for the homework assignment for that week and she would answer our questions (if any). All homework helps with and leads to the foundation for a final research paper. She gives great feedback but is a little slow on grading homework.
I took the hybrid version of this class, and it was easy to understand what needed to be done to pass. She tries to remember the names of students, and get to know them. She does her best to make sure the class is not boring, and she is willing to work with students.
Sarah Vause is fantastic. Her class is very dynamic. Don't skip class because due dates and assignments can change based on needs and desires of the students. She did a great job of expanding my literary horizons, and gives room for students creativity.
This class was so easy! A 3 page journal for every class, one individual presentation, one group presentation and some readings. Participate in the class discussion and you will be fine! Loved Sarah and her desire to teach what she loves.
I loved Professor Vause and plan to take many more classes from her. She truly cares about what she teaches and everything has relevance.
She is the best! The essays only had to be 1000 words and they were mainly creative writing. We read 3 books and they were all interesting! She makes class enjoyable. You can only miss 2 classes. I highly recommend her! Way fun and easy for an accelerated course.
I took her class her first semester teaching and she was great! Only had a few papers and they were very short. Lots of reading, the books were interesting though. She is a very passionate and you can tell she loves what she is doing. Overall great teacher! I would recommend taking her class.
She is my favorite professor yet! She cares SO much about each student & makes a real effort to get to know you & make class fun. Class is understandable & makes sure students are kept up to date about what is going on in class. She is SO passionate about what she teaches! Her class was not difficult, & you can always contact her. TAKE HER CLASS!
Vause is awesome. You read a lot of books about social injustices and such. She really wants students to think and write critically. She gives out a 2 page journal entry about every week. super fun class, and totally love the teacher.
Sarah is very passionate about the material in class, which is a compilation of novels and short stories that she puts together. Much of how she runs the class is made up on the spot, though, which can be frustrating for the more seasoned student. The class often felt like more of a group therapy session than a course on fiction, but it's easy.
Sarah didnt force curriculum down our throat. Instead she taught by drawing us in to the fiction, and it was brilliant. Her chosen works were meant to stir & unsettle, which prompted deliberation and thoughtful expression. The wisdom came from discussion & introspection mostly, but being inspired is a choice even us seasoned students know that.
Kick ass Profesor. Makes a really safe space for comments. Class was a lot of reading but the amount of writing required was minimal. Really fun and enjoyable.
She was great. Really cared about our success as students. Only an assignment or so a week and a final paper on a topic that we got to choose. I took it as a second block hybrid class and would highly recommend going that route to finish this required course quickly and easily.
Sarah was an amazing professor! You read three books and write papers about them. The papers only had to be 1000 words and they were pretty easy. She's a fun lady and the class was very chill. Don't miss more than three times or you fail.
Sarah is an amazing professor, and she really cares about what she does. She works with students who are having difficulties and really wants all of her classes to succeed.
By far the best English professor I have had! Makes the class very interesting and she truly cares about her students. The class was a pretty easy A since it was clear what was expected and she gave great feedback. Would recommend this professor to anyone taking English 2010!
Professor Vause is awesome! I signed up for her class, not knowing that it was a hybrid course. Since it was hybrid, half of it was online and half in person. We also finished halfway through the semester! Easy assignments due each week that all build up to help you write your final research paper! I loved this class and would 100% recommend.
Professor Vause cares a lot about her students and the topic. Lectures are good. There's a lot a reading but I felt like each reading was given with a purpose instead of it just being busy work.
The papers aren't bad but you are expected to keep a journal that should be about 3-4 pages per day. The readings are inspiring and Professor Vause's lectures encourage discussion. If you have a tight schedule like I did, her reads are easy to find on youtube and listen to instead of reading. Be prepared to look at the readings deeply.
The best English professor I've ever encountered! She gives amazing feed back and loves to hear what you have to say. The essays you will write have amazing topic and they're a blast! Awesome professor!
Prof Vause is a good instructor. Her class focused around reflecting on ourselves. Her assignments make you think. Shes super kind and willing to work with anyone. Class is definitely mandatory if you want to pass.
Sarah is an incredible teacher, and she is so funny. Her class is among the most enjoyable I have ever taken. There was some reading and presentations, but the bulk of the grade comes from writing several journal entries. It is easy if you do the work and make it meaningful. She taught me a lot about literature, social injustice, and life.
Professor Vause is enthusiastic and passionate about her students' learning. There is a lot of reading and writing involved, but the material is all available on Canvas and she's an easy grader.
She was my favorite this semester. She does a great job of setting the homework up to help you for the big paper. So as long as you keep up on that and use it to find sources instead of BS'ing it, then the synthesis paper us a breeze. I wrote the rough draft in a day because I had everything outlined and ready to be written the week before.
She is so insightful! She is such an advocate to every student, and wants to make everyone comfortable in her classroom. She has opened my eyes up about humanity, and the assumption I will never have again. I loved how much she talks about Civil Rights, and her passion for it. She has a degree another degree in history, which helps so much! AMAZING
I really loved this professor. You could tell she really cared about her students and wanted them to succeed. As long as you're doing the assignments and actually trying, you're going to pass. I learned a lot from this class and would recommend it to anyone.
I really enjoyed this class. There aren't too many homework assignments but they are thorough and she does expect real effort to put into them. That being said, she isn't a tough grader to make things difficult on purpose. There is a class policy that if you miss class more than 5 times, you won't pass. However, if you talk to her, she is flexible.
Absolutely love Professor Vause! Had one big paper for the final but wasn't too hard. She makes lectures super fun and interesting and provides a lot of good insight to challenging issues.
Professor Vause is a fun instructor. She genuinely cares about her students and if she can see that you're really trying, she'll work with you. This class was Masterpieces of Literature and addressed oppression. She is emotional about these things, but it makes her a better teacher because of it. We did a lot of reading, but it IS a lit class.
She is absolutely a gem! Great class, she worked with me especially when I accidently sent the wrong paper in... oops. But she is super understanding!
Professor Vause is an amazing teacher, she makes English not as boring by bringing in subjects that she deeply cares about, and she always initiated great discussions. She was very cool and understanding, and the class was honestly pretty fun. Assignments were weekly, the whole semester was dedicated to a 7-9 page final paper which wasn't that bad.
Professor Vause is the best! I had her for both ENGL 1010 & 2010, one was on campus lecture and the other was a hybrid. She is the sweetest & most caring professor. She is very organized and lets you know exactly what shes expects from you. I liked how she gave personal feedback and was a fairly easy grader. I would definitely recommend Vause!!
If I could have her as a teacher for every class ever, I would. The class was so easy, she gave us the book, and we only had one major paper which was only 5 pages. She makes it so easy to pass the class, gives student examples for each assignment. Shes always available if you have classes and is so accommodating. Best teacher Ive had at WSU.
This class was an accelerated virtual hybrid type of class, so we were done at midterm. Professor Vause was super awesome and pretty much let you do your thing. She's good at responding to emails quickly, and gives great feedback on each assignment. Graded on an assignment each week, then a research paper. Great class.
She was an amazing professor, I loved the class. It was an accelerated hybrid course, only one block. So you could be on zoom or in person. There is only 4 essays not including your signature assignment. Won't need the narrative, she provides a electronic copy. I would get the other two novels though. There is a lot of easy extra credit.
I have taken English 1010 and English 2010 from her and she is great! she is very understanding. I I love that she offers extra credit. I like that she offers examples for every assignment due it has been helpful. Attendance is not required but classes have been recorded so I have been able to return and watch.
I really enjoyed her class. She was very helpful and all of the assignments that you work on throughout the semester help to prepare for your final paper. There were multiple opportunities for extra credit and she was always willing to answer questions that students had. An overall great professor. Highly recommend taking classes from her.
I credit Professor Vause with a huge part of saving my life. This past semester I experienced the deepest, darkest depression I have ever lived through. Most of the time, I didn't want to live. I remember reaching out to her after being hospitalized and she was so understanding, caring, and she even told me that she had been thinking about me.
Great teacher! Very passionate about what she teaches. Because of the way this class was taught (hybrid and block class) it was hard to make a genuine connection with her. But, she gives great feedback on assignments and isn't a hard grader. Not as much reading in her 2010 class as there was in her 1010 class. All about social justice!
I took Sarah's class for 1010 and 2010 and she is the BEST TEACHER EVER!!! She cared about me, always checked in on me, and connected with me whilst simultaneously teaching me tons about social justice and writing. 10/10 would recommend! Again she's just simply the BEST TEACHER EVER!!!
Very simple class. One broad paper is due per week based on a short reading. Professor Vause offers fantastic feedback. A great class to take if you already have a heavy workload.
I'm so glad that I got to have Sarah! She is passionate about what she teaches, and she makes class enjoyable. She really cares about her students. We read 3 books, and you discuss them in class, so make sure you read the books. We discussed some very difficult things in class, and she spoke of them respectfully. I HIGHLY recommend her.
I really enjoyed this class more than I was expecting to! Professor Vause was very fair in grading and accepted all kinds of differing opinions. Her material and expectations were clear and the class was very easy to get an A in as long as you are willing to put in a little bit of effort. Highly recommend this class and this professor!
This class was absurdly easy, there were a few assignments and a 7-9 page final paper that we worked on all semester, THAT'S IT. Prof. Vause is super nice, gives great feedback and set the class up in a unique and fun way (ENGL2010 under a social justice lens). I would highly recommend this class to people who need an easy english credit.
I loved Professor Vause! She is very passionate about what she teaches, and her lectures are very powerful. She focuses on social justice. She really cares about her students and wants them to succeed. Her assignments are meaningful, and she is a very fair grader. Also has a lot of extra credit options.
She is such an inspirational teacher, she is caught up on all the current events and brings them to class as a learning topics as well of past horrific events. She opens the eyes of so many people and is just a kind, caring soul. She gives out easy extra credit, but be prepared to write quite a bit. You will have a couple of essays but theyre easy.
I would check for her feedback constantly and get so excited when I got a notification that a comment was left. She's very kind and gives honest praise on your assignments and it just makes you feel good. Class is straightforward with roughly one assignment a week; super doable and enjoyable.
Great professor to take a class from if you have interests in social justice, community leadership, debate, and being a voice for change. Passionate about her subject material, wants engagement from students!
Sarah is so amazing! Very willing to work with you. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone!
This is the easiest English 2010 class you can take, but all the professor talks about are politics. Take this class because its easy, but never show up to class because she just rants on about politics for an hour then you leave. Class time is not mandatory and you can skip everyday. She never talks about future assignments in class just politics
Professor Vause is amazing and I thoroughly enjoyed her class. She cares so much for her students and is so respectful. She is professional and makes her expectations clear. She is willing to help in any way that she can. I 100% recommend Vause!!
We talked a lot about politics but she remained neutral and kept the class respectful. She is VERY considerate of students outside of class and is flexible with meeting students' needs. She assigns a few papers but is a fair grader and makes them reasonable. She is also very passionate about what she teaches and cares about your success.
Professor Vause is AMAZING. I took her class as a second-block accelerated hybrid and it was a piece of cake. She was very organized and had examples and resources available for each module, which gave clear expectations. What a positive environment to be in and I was always excited to learn.
Professor Vause was one of my favorites. She was so kind and wanted success for her students. Her class is very interactive and looks for your own opinions in conversation. Overall she was awesome and works well with students.
Prof. Vause is literally the sweetest human being. Her lectures are very informational. Her main topic for this class is social injustice. This class was a welcoming environment, she is a very understanding professor. I definitely recommend taking any of her classes!
This is the second time I've taken her she is so awesome! She is a very understanding grader. She is very kind and passionate about social justice, it usually takes the entire class though. She is very kind and made me realize that English isn't so bad.
By far the best teacher I have had at Weber State. She grades fairly, and doesn't hold different writing styles against you, she actually promotes it! She gives amazing lectures that integrate history into the lessons and readings, which made it all the more interesting and fun to be in her class. She is a party and will help you thrive at Weber!
I took 3080 online from Professor Vause, and I would definitely take any of her courses again. She read every paper I turned in and gave annotated feedback on everything. She explained things well and was really supportive.
Easily the worst teacher I have ever come into contact with. Doesn't teach a lick of English, does shove her personal political ideologies down your throat. She embodies the problem with modern academia. Horrible professor, do not take her class.
Feedback after I countered her selected literature: "...I am afraid you believe you have little to learn, besides what you already know... If you know more about this course and the contents of it than I do, you should take it from someone else who can teach you what you believe you should learn." English & thinking are secondary objectives here.
I think Dr. Vause is an amazing professor, and I wish she would teach more classes. I have already taken three of her classes and recommend her to friends. There is no "political ideology" like another rating claim. She teaches history, and an important part of that history is Black and Native American history. 10/10
This professor gives kind and encouraging feedback and is quick to answer any questions. If you're expecting all your readings to be from the focused-on time period, you'll be surprised at the amount of contemporary and politically/social-justice driven literature (like the 1619 Project or "Slavery Told Through Social Media"). But a nice professor!
Doesnt stop shoving political talk into her classes, most of the time spent is politics and listening to worthless drivel. Instead of studying the great classics to teach us writing she refers to musicals to teach narratives. Or books about horrible events in human history that is solely designed to make students feel bad about themselves dont take
Best English class I've ever taken
I thoroughly enjoyed Professor Vause's class! She read through everything I submitted and gave great and encouraging feedback. The focus on historical subjects like slavery and the Holocaust pushed me out of my comfort zone but tied in wonderfully to an intro to writing class. I left feeling much more confident and grateful for my writing skills!
Dr. Vause is absolutely amazing. If you have a chance to take her class, take it. She's a great grader and will give extra credit for things like participating in school events. You will have to do lots of reading and writing, but it's interesting topics. I took ENGL 1010 1st block and it was so great that I decided to take her ENGL 2010 2nd block.
Took her American Lit class. Apparently social media, political podcasts, and musicals count as literature. Little political and social diversity in class; seems to want to indoctrinate rather than teach. Some readings include historical inaccuracies but she will tell you they are "valid perspectives". Readings are long. Three final papers. Yikes.
Not my favorite teacher, she doesn't really seem to teach English at all. It's an easier class but she doesn't give you a lot of information for each assignment, so I felt like I was kind of guessing on what to do.
Professor Vause runs a fun, engaging class. She's super kind and passionate about social justice issues, which can take up a lot of discussion time. But the workload is manageable, and Unstuck study was a lifesaver for test prep. Definitely recommend!
Dr Vause is an incredibly smart social justice warrior. Not only will you leave this class better at research and writing, but you will leave this class a better person as Dr Vause will help open your eyes to a different perspective. I took it as a block class and it didn't feel like a block class. I learned a lot without too many hard assignments.
Lots of reading, but manageable. Gives great feedback. This course has a weekly 500 word paper due as a response to the readings, but being able to tie your personal viewpoints to the readings makes it very enjoyable. The final a lot to handle alongside other final projects, but she gives you plenty of time to work on them. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐, would take again.
Professor Vause was one of my favorite professors I've had so far. Her lectures are just amazing and I learned so much. He class is very focused on Neo Slavery and the Holocaust and I think there is like 3-4 papers but the word count is not too bad. I cannot recommend her enough!
Took her online class! Love how bold she is, she is a social justice warrior! Hits on important topics. Very sweet and I learned a lot.
Summer Online class with Professor Vause was really easy and straightforward. She is very passionate about her job and it speaks through her classes.
Talked a lot about politics and almost made it seem you had to be ashamed if you didn't agree. Her class isn't hard but she also doesn't go over assignments well. She gets distracted and talks about other topics which is great if you're in high school however I am paying for my education and would like to learn. Also has a preference towards men.
She is the best professor I have ever had at Weber State. She cares about her students and will help you with assignments if needed. She gives multiple extra credit opportunities. She wants her students to pass and learn.
Wonderful professor. Assigned readings were interesting & enjoyable. Gives great feedback. Sweetest lady. This was one class where I felt I was able to express myself in my writing. She is big on critical thinking - there's no "right" answer, just wants you to think deeply & be able to express those thoughts. I loved this class.
I finished this class with 112.4%. Extra credit in this class was so easy, she is such an easy grader, and she is such a nice person. Easy to get along with, great lectures, and only one major assignment. I would take her again and recommend her to anyone else.
