I really enjoyed having Prof. Heer (Islamic Art History). She is super personable and kind, and she really knows what she's talking about. Assignments are easy and she lectures mostly from the book, but she has a lot of interesting things to say. The final is a trip to the Art Institute and there is one long paper and many short summaries. Great!

I worked A LOT for this class. Maybe it was because I'm not an art history major but I had to put in a lot of time to study for the exams. 2 exams & non-cumulative final. She's really helpful though and bumped my grade up since it was borderline. Don't take as an art core, it's not worth all the studying.

She has been that most difficult, and unapproachable person in my experience. Her article assignments are extremely difficult for a non-art major student to understand. Class was pretty difficult for a non-art major. She has high expectations and is harsh in her criticism, and makes general assumptions. I should have listened to advice to not take this class. She is not very approachable when it comes to seeking help. There were no books, but articles were demanding for a non-writing intensive.

I'm not an art major, don't plan on it, and this class was exceptionally easy. Dr. Heer is truly an awesome professor! I took HONR 212B with her and it was amazing. I took this class because all of the other honors classes I wanted were taken, but I have never been so happy with a decision in my life. This class is all discussion and NO exams. Two papers. AND she brings her dog on the last day! LOVE her!

Do not take Sarita Heer. All of her lectures are reused videos from years ago, her grading is extremely harsh and none of her comments make any sense. Even if you write down exactly what she said in one of her lectures on a quiz she will find a way to mark you off.

Save yourself, don't take her. She is such a harsh grader it is insane, you could copy her lectures and the book word for word onto the exam and it still wouldn't be right.

I'm being honest when I say that Dr. Heer should not be a professor since she holds students to a high standard. I have never stressed about a class so much since I was scared of failing her class. It is a core class! Why is a core class so difficult?! WELL, Dr. Heer found a way. Having her class was like living in a long, dreadful nightmare.

I LOVE Dr. Heer. She is one of my favorite professors at Loyola. I've taken her Islamic art class as well as a few of the art history survey courses she teaches. She is kind, so knowledgeable, and is very invested in her students. She will always provide help or clarification if you ask her. I cannot recommend her enough!!

Save yourself and do not take Dr. Heer. Regardless of how much you study for quizzes and exams, she will find a way to mark you off and give you a bad grade. She is inaccessible as she does not get back to emails or requests for office hour meetings. It is so clear Dr. Heer does not want her students to be successful. Do NOT take Dr. Heer.

If you are going to read any rating, please read this: I ran out of room because there are too many things to say (bad things). Every other bad rating is spot on. She wants her words regurgitated back, with no options of your own in anything. As a student who cares deeply about academics, I am scared I won't pass despite the hours of work.

I understand some bad reviews, I didn't have a problem with her. Easiest writing intensive I've ever taken, we never had any homework other than the few short essays that the lectures give you the answers to, and she gives great feedback on drafts. The lectures go over exactly what was in the reading, I never had to do any, just pay attention.

I love Dr. Heer! She is incredibly knowledgeable and is very helpful. She does hold her students to a high standard, but it is a college level course, so that is to be expected. As long as you put in the effort and follow instructions, you will be fine!

I took this class to get rid of my art credit and writing intensive credit and it was so much better than I could've hoped for. Dr. Heer has a big personality and makes lectures interesting. For a writing intensive it was very chill, 3 4-page essays and 2 online exams. She gives great feedback on the rough drafts. Very manageable class.

I thought this would be an easy A given that it was a core class and many of the people who take it are non-art majors. But I was struggling to finish with a C. Lectures are long, boring, and the content of this course is absolutely useless. She expects you to know a ton of information and be able to analyze artworks as good as her.

She might be the toughest grader I've ever had. I have to prioritize this class above all, and I'm a Computer Science student. I read these reviews before joining the class, thinking they were overexaggerating, but wow, I was wrong. Calc 2 is easier than this class due to her tough grading. I created this account just now to submit this review.0/10

Prof Heer is very nice and willing to help, but lectures are ridiculously long and monotonous. Tests are also unreasonably hard, she expects you to remember specifics for nearly each art piece we cover in class (like a gazillion) and is a picky grader. But she will give good feedback after tests and is again, very sweet, a bit odd but nice.

Dr. Heer is a tough grader and my first paper did not do so well. However, my writing improved throughout the semester. It's tough love, she wants you to do well. It is a WI class and it can be challenging but Dr. Heer is avaliable to help develop an amazing paper and enhance your writing. This is not an easy A but worth the challenge.

Dr. Heer is very kind and hilarious. Her class is basically just you working in groups every day but you have to watch 3-4 videos before every class in order to fully participate in group work and discussion. The exams and quizzes are pretty easy but she picks and chooses what she likes to give credit to even when the textbook says it is correct.

if she wasn't a great person with a wonderful personality, i would not like her as much as i did. she's very nice to talk to and cares a lot about her students. however tests are super difficult. also there's one day group work, one day lecture, and then videos to watch outside of class (heard she changed this around). be prepared to work. love her

Dr. Heer is a tough lady, but her classes are always worth the effort! You'll learn a lot, and feel inspired to work hard. Show up! Talk to her! Ask questions! She is incredibly understanding if you have shown you're trying your best. Very kind and incredibly smart, just not everyone's cup of tea.
