He made everything look so easy. I would recommend him for all your maths...
very hard to understand, seems like he doesnt want to be in class
Definately not a 'gimme' course. Brilliant teacher! You WILL know his subjects BEFORE you go on to the next course. Will also help you any time you need it, just ask.
What did he just say???
Very good teacher. Is willing to go the extra step to make sure that you understand. Doesn't try to turprise you with new material on the test. Gives you a pretty good idea of what kinds of problems to expect on exams. TAKE THIS TEACHER
Kermani was an excellent teacher. He tested on exactly what he taught. NO Surprises. Very willing to go the extra step to ensure that his students grasped the concepts. I look forward to taking him for my Calc sequence.
He can be hard to understand at the beginning but you get use to it. He teaches very well. What he teaches in class is all on the tests he gives.
Didnt like how he talked down to me when asking a question, seems to be too smart to teach...
Fun class. Great teacher. Fair. I heard his classes were wicked hard before taking this class but I enjoyed him. You will learn in his class.
I found it hard to understand his accent. He was unclear in his teaching methods. He made you feel inferior if you asked him a question. I don't reccommend him.
Dificult class due to the content. Dr. Kermani sincerely teaches you to know the material not just slide by. Even though he does not collect h/w you must do it to understand the material. Does not curve the tests, but grades fairly.
I don't care what anyone says this teach is the best he would sit for hours studying with me. If you want to learn and remember it he's the one to go with. He's not gonna give you an A you earn it but he makes sure you know the stuff.
Your grades rely only on test, very few questions (under 10) so no room for mistakes. He will take off points if you forget to write a step done by memorization, even if the answer is correct. I'm normally a straight A student, but maybe getting a B this time. I don't want him as my teacher next time.
Dr. Kemani is the best math professor at BCC Palm Bay. Not the easiest A, but you will know your material.
Great instructor. Will go the xtra mile to help you. Reviews before test. not always the easiest i'm sure, but you will learn here, and after all....isn't that why your here??? oh yeah...do the homework. He won't check it... but he knows if you've done it.
Good professor, but hard as hell. If you want to know math and stress out (especially in the 6 week summer course I took), take him. No curves on tests. You have to know the HW in and out to do well.Teaches way too fast sometimes; let us out early all the time. This is very bad in a 6 week course. Nice guy. I don't reccommend him for summer at all.
He's very redundant. He rolled his eyes at somebody when they asked a question. He comes off as better than everybody else. Tests are the grade. I wouldn't take him if you are not good in math, like me.
Mr. Kermani is not the kind of teacher that will give u a pat in the back and give u an A. You will have to work for your grade. I think hes a great teacher, but be ready to work and study! i have never learned so much in math class before.
Dr. Kermani is in deed the shizzle!! He will work you to no end; however you will learn calculus. His class was an emotional roller coaster but if you stick with it he will reward you for your efforts. Good luck!!
He knows his stuff. I found Dr. Kermani to be a very effective teacher. You will definitely understand what he teaches, but of course with any calculus course you must study and do the homework to pass. Also Dr. Kermani will reward you for your effort
Mr. Kermani is a good teacher and you will definately learn a lot from him. But if you are not good at math, don't take him, he is very hard. If you are willing to make an effort, he will pass you.
He is a smart guy. Late for class many times. Checks homework. He expects you to get the information right there just as he finished explaining. Proceeds very fast. Overall, he is an interesting person, but as a teacher he is hard. Work efficiently if you want to make it or get an A. I thought that the smarties had A,they didn't. They had B.
If you are not good in math, don't take MRr. Kermani. Mr. Kermani teaches way too fast and he expects you to know the information right away. He also gets frustrated when people ask him questions. He is also ot approchable. Take mr. Young, he is a very GOOD teacher!
He knows the material very well. If you are not a wiz, DO NOT CHOOSE HIM AS A MATH TEACHER. He gave one extra credit but it was a trick question. No one got it right, even the math lab tutor who advised me. He gives practice tests but they are a lot easier than the actual tests. He will check your homework so do it! He grades mostly to the test.
Great Professor. Some people think he is frustrated by questions. He does sometimes come accross this way, but it is just his personality. If you dont do the homework, pay attention or participate in class (questions etc) you will probably not do well. I've had him for a couple classes and he's been great each time. My favorite professor so far. I'
Alot of people say Dr. Kermani is hard, and he's certainly not easy but he knows you to do better then you think you can. Math is math is doesn't easier or harder from one teacher to another just some cheat you out of a proper education. If you want to learn and do well in future math take Kermani and yes be ready to work hard and you WILL do well
I am a very good student good at math as well. I asked him for help he did not help me much. Grades tests really hard. Doesnt take in consideration if u attended all classes and did your HW. He is very sarcastic and has absolutely no consideration towards students.
Nit a good teacher. Took him for summer, Calculus 2 , 8 weeks semester. Didnt care that the semester was shorter, was very hard on grading. Helped mostly the people he likes, doesnt help everybody.
This was the worst professor I have ever had. I would recommend NOT taking him. He's very rude, does not pay any attention to you or your needs, nor does he seem like he even cares. I will never take him again. He's also very strict and not a good teacher AT ALL
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! I just dropped out because he refused to let me take the test i was absent for. I had a 0 percent in his class. Not easy at all, and is not easy to talk to.
This is just a guess, but I suspect most of the bad rating here are from people who expected an easy A. You do have to work in Kermani's class, but if you have any brains at all for math and are willing to try, it is a lot more fulfilling leaving class knowing you actually learned something then the easy A classes that are wishy washy :>
I had Dr. Kermani for Calc 1 and Differential Equations. Be respectful, show interest, and particiate. Come to him and he will help you. He likes seeing students who want to learn. Disrespect him and you will have a rough semester. He's not going to baby you, you have to step up.He still helps me even though I have long since been his student.
I had him for algebra and even though I passed his class I wouldn't recommend others to take it. He gets off track and bounces around. The reviews he would just write on the board then give the answers without explaining. Doesn't check the homework so who knows if you actually get points for it. Overall terrible teacher
Enjoyed this professor despite the fast-paced whipping that is Precalculus/Trigonometry. Offers assistance with assigned homework in the beginning of every class, and loves to make sure we're all on track. Has a sense of humor, but is thankfully not a comedian -- he's a professor first. Test/grade policy is pretty unforgiving, so study plenty if
HE IS EXTREMELY HARD. VERY SMART IN HIS FIELD, KNOWS HIS STUFF. BUT I JUST COULDN'T GET ANYTHING IN THE CLASS. TERRIBLE JOB ASSIGNING HOMEWORK. JUST PICKS A BUNCH OF PROBLEMS, DOES NOT LOOK OVER TO MAKE SURE WE ARE NOT WASTING OUR TIMES ON PROBLEMS THAT WILL NOT BE ON TEST. TEN QUESTION TESTS. MUST NOT MISS ONE IF WANT TO GET AN A ON TEST. AVOID
I took him this spring for Calc 1. He was so helpful and taught in a way that I could understand that I am taking Calc 2 with him now during the summer. He is glad to help anyone that wants to help themselves. Don't expect an easy grade, you'll have to work hard for it, but by the end you will know everything you need to know and then some.
Doesn't give practice test. Makes a uncomfortable environment for a student to ask questions. Took him for calc 2, withdrew because I didn't want to fail. Class avg on first test was a 56 and he didn't give a curve. He is smart but not a good teacher.
Goes over the HW in class. Gives sample test before the test and goes over them. 20% of your grade is your HW. If you want an easy A, he is not for you. You have to study for your grade.
He is an excellent teacher who will answer all of your questions and will help either during or after class as well as during his office hours. The class is easy as long as you do your hw and study the material after class. His tests are very short and to the point. He takes examples from the hw and class and puts them in the tests.
Very professional and proficient in his field. Difficult class, but math is math. He's excellent if you're an engineering or science major. If you want an easy way out (memorizing math), don't take Kermani. He answers any questions in class and during his office hours. He is very helpful, I will be taking him for Calculus.
He's very nice and loves math but does NOT teach what's on the homework. He teaches what you will need later but not what you need NOW. I would not recommend him if you can't teach yourself.
He's very helpful when it comes to answering questions. Definitely do the practice tests and homework if you want to pass his test. If you put fourth the effort, then you'll pass his class.
Offers VERY limited help to struggling students, very difficult and not for those who struggle with mathematics. Do not take
If you do the work, you'll be fine. I do not recommend taking his class if you struggle in math. If you want an "A", you definitely need to work for it. Definitely come to class as much as you can because he does give out quizzes unexpectedly and you will not be able to make them up. ALWAYS be prepared for a quiz.
Took his 6 week summer Calc 1 class. Definitely challenging, but possible. I'd really recommend trying to learn some of the stuff on your own first, like the derivative, and the power rule for derivatives, and even the chain rule. This will make it feel much less overwhelming. You're in good hands with Kermani.
Tough class, but he is a good teacher. Very smart no nonsense. Pop Quizes, homework, and tests so study and know your stuff. If you don't ask for help he will help you!
AMAZING PROFESSOR! I dare you to take another professor and say he isn't great. Not for lazy people at ALL. He is very big on hardwork; if you're looking for an easy class, go somewhere else. Take his class, be ready to learn and put in lots of work.
Smart professor but if you struggle with math, I do not recommend him.
Awesome guy, But not a good teacher. Accent is fairly unclear and is intolerant of slacking. So if you need a slower pace sometimes, I don't recommend him because its "Go Go Go" all the time.
Dr. Kermani is one of the best teachers I've ever had! His class is difficult, but if you need help with anything and show effort he will be more than happy help you. I've never retained this much info in any other class. You must study to do well in his class, but it is worth it and he does recognize hard work. I would highly recommend Dr. Kermani
Just great Teacher, I just take the cal II summer course. was hard but I learned a lot with him.
Really difficult class, but understands and will listen to you. Best palm bay campus math teacher!
He is a pretty good professor. He does not give any time to those who choose to slack. If you put the effort in to trying to understand the material, he is more than willing to help you out.
Kermani is a fantastic math teach, very passionate teacher but tough. If you are a good student he will be a good proffesor, try out some banter and evetually you can give him a hard time and he'll shoot it right back, it makes it really fun.
He is an amazing teacher and he goes at a good speed at explaining things. He does give quite the amount of homework if you aren't good at focusing or if you have lots of other homework but he gives a week for it to be done. If you aren't good then you need to be in class to understand whats happening. The book is online and so is all the work.
There were only 3 tests and the rest was based on how you did on mymathlab. Gave WAY too many questions for the lab. Blamed the class for being behind when he cancelled a test 3 times.
Dr. Kermani does an outstanding job teaching Calc2. Explains the material very clear, teaches you neat math tricks that minimizes lengthy work. Its important to let him know when you're not understanding. He'll take the time to explain to you. Highly recommend him!! Came into Calc2 w/weak math skills & left feeling confident.
This was awful, the course was simple and I understood the material but failed regardless because he was inconsistent with pulling grades and how he grades his tests. He grades harsh on tests and gives an unbelievable amount of work. He'd make something due one day and pull grades for it 3 days prior, and there's only like 7 grades. Terrible.
He is very thorough with his lectures, although he explains and writes very quickly. Have a pot of coffee before lecture. I was intimidated by Calc 3 when I walked in, but his teaching style calmed my nerves. Be prepared for 1.5-3 hours of homework per section. The final was the only hard test, with a 35% avg score. Score high early.
Dr. Kermani is one of the best professors I've ever had. He teaches the material very clearly. He gives a practice test and reviews it the class before the test so there are no surprises. This class had four tests and homework was done using My Math Lab. Studying is required to do well in this class.
Took Professor Kermani online for two semesters in a row. I would say the biggest difficulty is lack of communication. Its okay for an online class, but he can be unclear in his directions and feedback. Definitely a very tough class, especially taken online, but its not too bad if you work for it.
Dr Kermani is quite difficult to approach with questions. Lots of assignments on MyMathLab, that dont always line up with the material taught in class. The sample tests he provides are helpful but considerably easier than the actual tests. Do good in this class early on, or you wont be able to recover.
For all you Wii sports fans, if he was a golf score he'd be a triple bogey. His tests always were way harder than the material he presented. After quarantine, he put little to no effort into the class. We had no final review and the bare minimum for the last two chapters. He was decent before the quarantine, but absolutely horrible after.
He's rather rude and when it comes to answering student's questions he tends to go astray rather than giving a direct response. He's not good at being accessible through e-mail when it's important. He's a tough grader and will question everything even though he states to show your work. No one in my class seemed to care for him or his teachings.
Five chapter tests (85%) and homework (15%). Heavy amount of HW but needed to fully understand. First two tests were pretty easy and straight forward. After that, they got exceedingly more difficult. He definitely knows material well. He was very blunt about his expectations and would let you know if he didn't feel you were meeting them.
Professor Kermani is very rude in the way he responds to students emails. He does not take the time to explain, but rather gets annoyed. He expects you to learn things no other diff eq class sees. Tests are toughly graded. He acknowledges there are other ways to learn the material, but you better do it his way or you get points off.
I took him for Calc 3. Tests were often but were usually pretty easy. For most tests there wasn't ANY feedback and the best you could get was a red x. He refused to move online tests. So watch out because he doesn't ask for availability. He rarely communicates with students and would sometimes only remind students of a test the night before thetest
Please do not take this professor. He is by far the worst professor I have ever had for any class. He is not helpful and very condescending. I had to pay a tutor just to learn what was going on because his notes are not clear and like I said he is not helpful. Math is my strong suit and I still struggled tremendously. Save yourself the stress.
Do not take this professor. 3 tests and the final exam are worth 85% of your grade. He grades extremely tough on tests. He does not care if you get the right answer if you do not show your work exactly how he wants it. You can't do your work how MyMathLab teaches it. The examples he teaches are way easier than hw. Some hw questions he doesnt teach
i had Dr Kermani for calc1,calc2, and right now for calc 3 and differential equations, he is one of the best professors i had in EFSC, pandemic force the classes to be online, even though professor Kermani answers my questions by email as soon as possible, he cares about students and want you to learn the materials right, work hard you will have A.
He is a professor that makes it clear what he expects, until he doesn't. Homework is average. You can redo the problems over and over again until you get a 100%, which you absolutely should do. No one in my class could get a 100% on his tests. His grade weighing was a bit weird. One proctored test was worth more than the final. Would not recommend
Dr. Kermani teaches topics amazingly. However, this does not at all make up for his purposful overly hard tests and obsessive amounts of homework. He takes questions about his grading personally. He admitted to making tests even harder after moving to online because of the pandemic. Saw a lot of people fail who didn't deserve to. Find someone else.
Had Dr. Kermani for Calclus 2 back in the Spring of 2020. His class was unnecessarily hard. He did teach well, but he was very cocky about his teaching style and complained about how other classes are easier than his. You have to get above 60% on his final or you won't pass even if you have an A in the class. Average for the final was barely a 60%
He is harsh with grading if it's not done exactly his way. The course is very test heavy. There is a lot of homework but it only weighs a little compared to the tests. Notes are blurry and hard to read. He announces tests and times a few days before the test and test you that you can't reschedule them because you didn't tell him a week before.
I've had him for three classes at this point and trust me, if there were options I wouldn't be taking him still. He takes everything so personally and doesn't know how to leave students alone. His classes are always test heavy so if you plan on passing score high early. If you can hold off taking calc/DE then do it so you can have a good teacher.
Kermani is as rough as it gets for classes. While he gives videos on how to do the questions, they aren't the same as the ones on MML. MML is a lot easier than his actual tests. Tests are extremely weighted, 85% of your grade is from tests alone. Don't bother emailing him either as he will condescending towards you. Just avoid him at all costs!
Kermani is extremely rough when it comes to tests. He complains about tests that have busy work and then puts as much busy work as he can on a test. He includes ridiculous problems that are much more complex than the problems he does in class or on the homework (Keep in mind the homework is hard). You'll have to study really really really hard.
After 4 classes I can confidently say don't take him. In person lectures are confusing, take online if possible. Rude and condescending if you ask for help despite saying he likes helping. Test aren't terrible but he doesn't give study guides. He gives partial credit but only about 2 - 4 pts per wrong question. Test heavy so score HIGH early.
Avoid at all costs. Professor announces tests 15 minutes before test time. He wants students to fail and its obvious. His tests have less than 5 questions and if a single value is wrong, he marks the entire question wrong. No partial credit and hard grader. He also forgets to posts tests so students sit around for 2 hours. Tests are Sunday nights.
I have taken Professor Kermani for calc 2 calc 3 and diff eq and sure he isnt a perfect professor. It isnt easy material and it takes effort to get a good grade in the class. His lectures are great, and he actually answers the questions unlike other professors. The homework problems are tough but you will get a solid understanding of the subject.
I've had some pretty bad profs over the past two years, but this guy takes the cake. Two arbitrarily-chosen tests hold half of your entire grade. The way he grades and his attitude are atrocious. The Final had 7 problems. I submitted 5 correct answers (with work) and was given a score of 4/70. He hates his students. Avoid at all costs.
Professor Kermani is the worst professor I have ever had. If he is the only one left when signing up for classes just wait until next semester. You will have a passing grade at the withdrawal date and then he grades the final two test (65% of your grade) extremely unfairly. He failed 90% of my class. He simply should not be a professor.
I came on Rate My Professor and saw that this teacher had mediocre reviews, so I thought that it would not be to big of a deal. What I failed to realize, all too late, was that the majority of good reviews this professor has gotten were from many years ago, before the pandemic. His online classes are miserable. Do not recommend in the slightest.
My friend and I both took his class at the same time. If my work was wrong but my answer was right Kermani would mark off an insane amount of points, if my friend made the same mistakes hardly any points would be marked off. Sometimes the the points would be switched. My point is, Kermani makes up grades as he goes, take a different teacher.
He is a great teacher contrary to popular belief. Most of the bad reviews are most likely given by unmotivated students. If you don't know prior math just ask and he will explain in great detail. To pass this class you need to do the hw and spend extensive amount of time of practice to do well on the tests which are most of your grade.
Extremely passive aggressive. First exam was so horrible that I decided to drop. Only 5 questions, one of them impossible because it was misprinted. You can't use the same techniques more than once. He was ambiguous when he said what was being covered so I misunderstood and missed a section I needed to review. Also posted wrong dates for exams.
I took Kermani when it we got partly moved to online during Covid-19 in Spring 2020. The Good: Great at explaining topics, great at office hours. The Terrible: Exams were full of unnecessary busy work and problems designed to second guess everything. Have to get 60% on final to pass. Says he hates busy work, puts it on exams. Rude in emails.
Had no problems w/ math til I took him spring 2020. 100s on all the hw, 1st test comes (paper and pencil) and everyone flunks. Asked for help and he was very rude in his replies. Next exam was online and most of the class did ok(not proctored-guess people cheated). Flunked again. I couldn't pass after flunking 2/4 exams so I withdrew to keep my 4.0
Don't take. Like others have said he is very aggressive to the point where emailing him was dreadful. His syllabus was misleading, it says you need to take a practice test before all tests yet there is no practice test. When emailing him about it he said "idk where you got that idea from". Tests are proctored and are very challenging so study hard!
Ditto on the other bad reviews. If this is your first time taking trig, avoid this teacher at all costs! For those unfortunate enough to end up in his class, and you have the ebook that offers videos, watch and study those videos before each lesson. You'll be better prepared for all of the important lessons that this guy will fail to mention.
I did not take a class with Sasan Kermani in person, but I would highly recommend not taking an online course with him. His notes and videos were unhelpful, the homework site used was a poor choice (difficult to review), and the "review" given for our test did not come with an answer sheet. Made a fairly easy class into a struggle that I dropped.
My math skills are at another level thanks to Dr. K. You will learn a lot from him. The material is very difficult, not his fault. His tests are fair (no curveballs). 5 tests including the final. He let us take one test to replace another.
For the comment below I failed to add that it is better if you pick Dr K in person. I took him in person at spring 2022. Ask everything you need, he explains very well when you ask for clarification.
his lectures were short videos filmed on an iphone (in portrait). they were not very helpful. the online textbook is bad. its hard to access, difficult to use, and weird in formatting. MyMathLab, homework place, is actually very helpful. 90% of my learning was there. the tests are long + difficult, but you can get partial. ~2hrs work a day.
Mr. Kermani is a fantastic professor. Instead of restating that for another 200 words, I'll just advise that you take him if you get the chance.
Horrible teacher. Had him for both calc 3 and diff eq, and got nothing out of those classes. I'm someone who loves math and wants to major in it, but hated this class. Super hard to approach, so you're basically on your own. His videos providing info on the topic were super confusing, so prepare to look at the textbook.
I just took Calculus I with Professor Kermani and he was a great professor. His explanation was very easy to follow, and he would give many examples in class. There's a lot of homework, but it really helps to boost your grade (multiple attempts until the due date). 4 exams, plus the final but he usually lets you retake one of the tests.
Great teacher, he explains the why and how things work in math. The homework wasn't too terrible, the tests were easy and never more than 20 questions, and his test reviews are very much the same as the test. He will even go over the review in class. Always available before and after class and during office hours to help.
Knowledgeable professor but communication was not the best, especially over email. If you're struggling on an online class, make an in-person appointment and it clears up so many things. Like he is so smart at math and when he can actually explain it to you it helps so much. Total of 4 tests, 2 were proctored. Do the study guides for every test.
He doesn't set up his calendar properly. He will move assignment due dates two days before weekly assignments are due. He will even lie about doing it if you ask him. I started one week with 11 assignments to do, and then later in the week, it was bumped up to 11. He once did this two days before the weekly due day (Sunday).
Doesn't know how to properly set up a syllabus, and is little to no help when it comes to any questions you may have.
He is a master in math and is very knowledgeable on the subject, however He doesn't create an environment where students want to ask any type of question, giving sass and judgement if you do. Furthermore, he is consistently late to start the class on time, takes phone calls for 5+ minutes in the middle of class, and does not care about his classes
Professor Kermani is a difficult professor that will leave you feeling challenged. The lectures are sometimes hard to follow.
Had for cal1,3&ODE, the latter 2 online. TAKE IN-PERSON if you can, online classes lack a coherent syllabus or much of any direction so prepare to teach yourself and jump through many hoops. Tests are whenever he feels like it despite being a virtual class. In-person was good; a polar opposite to that. Tests aren't hard but are 75% of the grade.
Took the online class, inconsistent on posting test dates. Discussion questions are very confusing. Takes weeks to grade most assignments. Homework amount wildly varies depending on the unit. Self-teaching course.
This has absolutely been the worst professor I have ever taken. Most of the class is failing with the last two class test averages being a 48 and a 60. Other students and I have complained about not being able to ask questions without feeling judged or spoken rudely to. I was even asked to speak to the chair about him.
I'm sure Mr. Kermani is a better teacher in person, but PLEASE do not take his class online if you want to actually learn. I'd also argue that he is quite rude in his emails. His videos didn't help at all and I feel as though I got nothing out of this course. If you can, please just take another teacher's class.
took this one only because i couldnt get the other one because i signed up too late. not worth it.
The test reviews are the most simple form of the type of problem, so you learn the basics but tests have way more complex problems.Takes forever to receive test grade. He is a bit rude in emails. Lectures for the entirety of each class.
Kermani comes across as blunt over email, however he is very nice in person and a great teacher. Tests are not too difficult with the questions on them typically being a bit easier than the homework leading up to the test. If you take this class make sure to take advantage of office hours if you need help, as Kermani explains things very well.
I have taken two classes with Kermani, Calc 1 in person and Calc 3 online, and I think he is truly a really understanding and nice teacher IF you show yourself putting in effort. Going to office hours really helps, and he will work with you if he sees how much you care and are genuinely trying. He's actually really nice once you get to know him.
Professor Kermani is not fast to respond to emails, is quite rude in all of his emails and shows very little respect towards the student in his emails, also the test have questions on them witch are much more complex versions of the problems practiced making it very hard to solve them all within the time limit, causing the student to rush.
Professor Kermani may be a great teacher in person, but don't bother taking his class online. He states his videos (from 2020) should be the only source of information required to pass his tests. They are entirely different from both the homework and practice tests. Homework 25%, 4 external webcam proctored tests 50%, final 25%. No partial credit.
This professor is very rude in emails and gives very late notice on tests and homework when they are given
He will treat the class as though it is your major, so those expecting an easy A stopped showing by week 2. There are 3 tests, which determine your grade overall, one cumulative final, and 20-25ish hw that really do not help you in the long run. I admit he is very smart and passionate about what he teaches, but must be good at math prior or hell.
This has been the worst professor I have ever taken. Most of the class is failing. Took this one only because I couldn't get the other one because I signed up too late. Not worth it.
The worst math teacher I've ever had. He's not attentive, lazy about his lecture style and explains only half of the problem and says "the rest is just calculator work" before moving on to something else. Doesn't care about students, blames us for not understanding. My class started with 20 people, on finals day there were 5 left and only 2 passed.
Professor Kermani is not a good virtual teacher. I enjoy online classes because I like being responsible for my learning, but he took weeks to respond to any of my emails and was rude when he did. Additionally he would misread my emails, and write snarky comments on my work; that is, if he bothered to comment on why he took points off at all.
Do not take this class if you're actually interested in learning stuff. go to FIT instead.
If you don't understand something he will just tell you you should have learned that in the past class. He does not make the homework assignments, Pearson does, but they do things very differently from how he does.
While he was a very good lecturer and knew what he was doing, he wasn't an ideal professor. He was very rude when it came to questions, and refused to elaborate on test reviews when a student would ask him how to do the steps again, only saying he wasn't going to "reteach something" we should already know despite it being a REVIEW. Do not recommend
Prof. Kermani can be hit-or-miss - online classes are a struggle, but in-person is better. Engage in office hours, use MyMathLab, and try Unstuck ai for solid study prep.
Very lecture heavy guy. Will usually find him going on side stories in the middle of his lecture. Has an accent so some of his words can be a bit confusing. He also uses the book like crazy, so if you do not enjoy teachers who rely on the book I would definitely suggest another teacher.
I would not recommend taking this teacher. The course itself isn't hard but he does not care about his students at all and does not accept anything late or do makeups. A professor should care for his/her students and try to hear them out and work with them if they have issues at home or just outside of the classroom in general which he does not.
He is a nice guy, but when my classmate expressed her stress about the class and advocated for herself, he was a bit rude, explaining how he shouldn't have to teach the class basics in algebra. But, the majority of the class hadn't been in a math class in years. Honestly, if you show effort in the class, he will pass you. Cryptic, but nice of him.
Worst professor I've ever had. TESTS ARE WORTH OVER 55% OF YOUR GRADE. He was rude in his email replies to me- Half the class was failing, if not most, all of us were struggling. If u fail one test, it demolishes your grade. If you get an A on all the 35+ homeworks we get, it won't even move you 1%. Don't take him, seriously.
The professor is evil.
Professor Hitler is the worst experience I have ever had at this god awful university.
Literally the worst professor I have ever had and I love math.
NEVER TAKE HIM. Very strict professor. Constantly threatens students with zeros and withdrawal in his announcements and emails. Tone comes across as hostile rather than helpful. Clear about deadlines, but not supportive in communication. Be prepared to follow every rule exactly, because there is no flexibility.
I took online Calculus 3 with Professor Kermani. The syllabus is clear: homework is 25%, and five unit tests make up 75% of your grade, so aim to score high early. Last 2 units are hard. Practice tests are similar to real tests. There's no real final. He is also strict about having an external camera and Honor Code extension on your PC for tests.
The only way you are going to be able to do well in his class is to speak with him during office hours (make sure your schedule allows for it). He doesn't put a ton of effort into his lecture material, be prepared to supplement with Youtube. Mymathlab sucks to learn Calc with. That adds to the challenge. Good luck.
Tests are weighted heavily, lots of homework. He teaches like we already know how to do the problems.
Genuinely horrendous professor. Dropped calc 3 with him because he was super disrespectful and would never update grades. I aced the class with a 96% when I took it two semesters after with barely any review. I wish I did not ignore everyone's ratings here
